I lived in an Italian section of the Bronx for years which had made me an Italian food snob. I never found anything in comparison after moving upstate 5 years ago...and yes, people think if you're more than 30 minutes north of the city you're considered living "upstate". Anyway, when I was just about to give up hope after trying 20-30 Italian restaurants in my surrounding area, I stumbled upon Nonna's. I stood outside the strip plaza staring at my three choices. Taco-Bell, Sushi or Pizza were all I had to choose from. I paid the price for eating Taco-Bell a few weeks before, I really wasn't in the mood for eating fish that's just merely unconscious so I decided to try Nonna's. The atmosphere walking in was definitely a step up from your typical red, white and green in your face kinda pizzeria with a soccer game blasting on tv. So as I approached the counter, I was greeted with a smile along with a view of 12 types of pizza to choose from. I always order plain the first time so I can actually taste the pizza. Let me tell you, it was the best damn pizza I've had in years. Probably the best in "upstate" NY. Being so impressed, I ordered a hero or sub or grinder or hoagie or whatever the hell you call them (I always say hero) to take home with me along with a chicken dish which was equally as delicious. The portions were HUGE and so worth the money. If the food is great, I'll pay whatever it costs. I thought maybe I just caught them on a good day so I've been back another 4 times to realize the food is always fantastic, consistent (a biggie for me) and also reasonably priced. I think a regular slice was only $2 which is inexpensive for up here. I'll never pay $4 for pizza with ranch dressing on it...the kids are sick these days..they put Ranch on everything. So there you have it, great food, good service and priced just right. Try them out so I can say "I told you so". I've NEVER had a problem with the waitresses...always attentive and courteous. The only problem I do have is that they don't have a quiet dining area in the back considering the quality of their food is what you would get from a really good Italian restaurant. I honestly don't like eating a delicious meal next to 12 snotty nose teenagers who sit there and watch one person eating a slice. Hope this review helped :o)

This is the only place I have ever gone in my entire life where I didn't leave a tip, period. Like Steve Martin once said, "It's not tipping I believe in, it's over tipping." The trouble was that my experience there was just that bad. I will preface this by saying that this occurred about 6 months ago and perhaps things have changed...... My girlfriend and I went here one night looking to get some pasta. We had been there before and the food was good as was the service. That was not to be the case this night. The waitress was sitting and eating with friends a few tables down and when we sat down she had to get up from her meal to wait on us, which kind of made us feel bad. We told her we would be ordering entrees but would need a minute to decide. We put in a order for Mozz sticks and looked over the menu. The waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered a couple of sodas. She informed us that the fountain was out of order and we should go pick something out of the case. No glasses, no Ice, no straws, just serve yourself. Now, last time we were here, the waitress brought us some focaccia and olive oil, not this time, we didn't even get a bread basket, nothing. So we wait and watch her eat and carry on with her friends. A while later she comes back and asks if we have decided on our meals. We each order pasta and salads. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken. She places the order and goes back to her meal. She would occasionally periscope her head up and ask if we needed anything. We might have, but who wanted to bother her? Our meals arrive and the alfredo sauce has broken and separated into a mass of oil and clumpy cheese. Those of you who have experienced this know what I mean. My girlfriend's food was cold, good times... We decide to finish our meals and go. When I go to the counter to pay, a gentleman informs me that the credit card machine has been broken all day and I would have to pay cash. This was a detail that would have been very useful when we came in. So I tell him that is simply don't have $40+ cash on me. He recommended that I find an ATM. So, I left my girlfriend there and drove over to the bank, took out cash, and went back and paid. I never got an apology for any of it. Needless to say, I've never been back. I drive by regularly and its obvious that they don't do anywhere near the business of the other pizza places. It's no wonder.

Some of the best pizza around. Can't comment on the wait service, as we have only ordered delivery.

We were looking for something to eat along the Taconic and stopped off in this plaza in Yorktown Heights. I had an eggplant parm wedge (aka sandwich or subway or hoagie), which looked like it was a foot long (definitely enough for two meals). It was very cheesy and was fine as eggplant parms go - nothing amazing but nothing bad either. The zucchini sticks weren't that great. The breading flaked off easily and there was a skinny piece of zucchini inside. We had to wait a long time for our sandwiches to come out (we think they forgot about it; they were pretty busy on a Friday night and people were ordering via phone and in the restaurant (mostly pizza). They seemed to be doling out pies left and right while we waited and waited for our sandwiches. The people taking orders were very nice but the wait was disappointing.

Nonna's is great! Delivery is fast and dining in after mid-morning soccer was fast as well. The pizza is pretty good (I'm from Brooklyn so it's so hard to compare anywhere else.) We have had no problems with the wait service when dining in and they always get the order right when we order takeout. Highly recommended!

This review is strictly based on a delivery order. The food arrived in about 20 minutes as opposed to the 30 to 40 like they said, which is not THAT big of a deal. I asked the girl over the phone to make sure the delivery guy calls before he leaves so that I can wait outside since my doorbell is broken. He was already right outside my door when he called. As for the food, the marinara sauce for my Diablo calamari was left open and the sauce spilt all over it. The marinara sauce for my angel hair pasta was semi-mixed with the pasta. There was will a giant glob of sauce in the middle of it. The alfredo sauce was dried onto the tortellini as if it was made over an hour ago. The salads that came with my food were soggy.

Long story short this place has the worst service ever. You actually feel like your not one of the "cool kids" when you go there and they do their best to not pay attention. Here is why. I ordered a sicialian and a regular slice. I got a soda and waited for about 45 minutes while my friends food was brought out he ate it and our waitress walked by several times. The place wasn't packed at all. After he was done my the waitress said "you never got your order?" Yeah thanks for paying attention. My soda was comped in order to make up for it, what a joke. Another time I ordered a pizza and they closed 15 min early. Yes 15 min before posted closing time as I ordered 45 min before closing time. This place does have good food but the service bites and the people working there are either forgetful or just plain lazy and unwelcoming. This place is horrible go somewhere else.

Nonna's has by far the best combination and most consistent quality of pizza, entrees, and appetizers in the center of Yorktown Heights, and we have tried them all. I have not eaten at the restaurant, but have had take-out many times, often on a busy Friday night. Every pizza from plain to several gourmet brick oven pies has been excellent, as well as the entrees, wings, and zucchini sticks. I am surprised hearing that others were treated poorly. I am generally a critic when it comes to service, and I have found them to always be pleasant and efficient. The one time they made a very minor mistake (misunderstood garlic bread as garlic knots), the owner apologized and offered to deliver a roughly $3 item to my home.

I routinely eat the food from Nonna's both take-out and in the restaurant. It is a traditional pizzeria atmosphere but the food is definitely restaurant quality. The pizza is delicious - especially the Grandma Slice! (Just like homemade!) The Chicken a la Nonna is fabulous as is the Scarpariello, Francese and Parmigiana. My husband's favorite is the Chicken with Sausage. Their brown sauce is outstanding. The Arugala Salad with goat cheese, grilled chicken, and nuts is so fresh and yummy! Another thing of note is that their vegetables are cooked to perfection - not totally overdone. I have not had the deserts here but I have eaten at their other restaurant, Pronto in Croton on Hudson and that is a Pizzeria on one side was well as a Restaurant on the other side. Everything there was delicious as well - same menu. I'm not sure what the deal was with some of the other reviews. We have not had a problem with service there but they do get incredibly busy on Friday nights with lots of take-out. The owner has been there almost every time I was there and very friendly and personable. I whole heartedly recommend Nonna's!

This place is horrible. Nonna's pizzeria does not even deserve one star but I have to put one there to send this message. Here's why My fiance and I went there for dinner one night and the service was horrible. The waitress acted like she was bothered because she had to serve us. Not only was the service horrible but when we got our food we found a staple in our chicken parmesan wedge. My fiance almost broke his tooth. When we told our waitress she did not even apologize. She said that's impossible I don't know how that could have gotten in there. Nobody cared so we got up and left. I found them to be very unprofessional. There's never a manager there so all the kids that work there pretty much run the place and they could all care less. I would not recommend this place. There are so many other pizzerias in Yorktown Heights don't even bother with this place.

This is the best pizza in Yorktown. There are many to choose from and this is the best of the bunch. People who used to live in the Bronx choose this place. I love the plain. They also make a yummy chicken marsala slice and my daughter enjoys the buffalo chicken pizza (she doesn't eat regular pizza). My son always asks to order from here and when he was younger the owner gave him a ball of pizza dough to throw so that was really nice. The delivery boys are always quick and pleasant. Just to repeat: I have tried every other pizza place in Yorktown. Some border on the inedible and other are just meh. Nonna's is delicious and consistent.

Chicken piccata, solid. They actually put together a pretty good dinner salad as well. The cheesy garlic bread was ok. My girl liked her pasta bolognese. I'll go back. It seems like most everything there would be pretty good.

Not good at all. Large pie with peppers and onions. My little kid ate almost half the pie because it was so small and flimsy - 8 slices, but not what I'd consider a large pie. Dreary looking green peppers and onions diced in small squares (usually they're in thin strips) smothered the pie and made the pie look unappetizing and taste terrible. Had to scrape virtually all the toppings off. Dough was undercooked and tasteless and the sauce came nowhere close to the edge, so you're left with a two-inch piece of bad crust. I'd never give the food here above 2.5 - 3 stars, but this is one of several experiences where I give it one star, at best. Sad thing is, for a town loaded with pizza joints, there are no great options.

I have only ordered take-out here so I cannot comment on the waiter/waitress service. It has more of a pizzeria feel to it than an actual restaurant. The place is small with only a few tables so I'm not sure if I would actually ever dine there but their take-out business is booming. The pizza and calzones are just okay. I definitely have had better. Their Italian dishes are tasty. The cheese tortellini with alfredo sauce is amazing and I have tried their eggplant rollatini which is also fabulous. The portions are huge especially for the price. Unfortunately, I have often been placed on hold when calling in an order and the wait time can sometimes be obnoxious like 45 minutes to an hour and that is for pick-up, not delivery! Overall, I'll continue to order from Nonna's.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
