Decent pizza and easy on the wallet. It's not a charred thin crust pizza, just a regular NY style. The crust is chewier than I typically enjoy. They might use canned tomato sauce here but hey it's 99 cents a slice and toppings are an extra 50 cents. The special for 2 cheese slices and a canned soda is $2.75. There's a large refrigerator with all varieties of canned soda like coke, diet coke, root beer, orange soda, ginger ale. There's always a long line for lunch between 12PM to 1:30PM but the line moves. This is a larger location where the line actually moves with a good flow than the one on 43rd and 3rd and looks cleaner too. The location here also has a ledge to eat on for at least 15 people. You can eat comfortably, stretch your arms and think about how much you saved for lunch getting the $1 pizza.

This is location #6 of 9 and it is one of the better $1.00/slice places in the city. Most amazing is that it is in a location where just about every other restaurant and store is way overpriced. I only tried a regular cheese slice. There was an average amount of cheese for a 99 cent slice, but the crust was better than at several of their competitors. So 99 Cent Fresh Pizza location #6 has made it on to my list for where to eat when I am in midtown east!

I came here at 1am after my flight arrived at midnight. I wasn't expecting much since it is called 99 cent pizza, but it was right down the street from my hotel and I was hungry for pizza! Staff was super friendly. Pizza was fresh, hot, ready to go. It wasn't the most amazing pizza I've ever had or anything but it definitely got the job done and was very satisfying and tasty for 99 cents.

No frills, no surprises and no chairs. But still very good. The crust is chewy/just slightly doughy which isn't bad. The sauce could use a pinch more oregano but good enough. Overall: 4 stars for taste. 4 stars for presentation. 5 stars for value. *Seating at the office park nearby.

Late night pizza, $1 per slice, near grand central. Can't go wrong. Not the best pizza, but not the worst either. I will be back.

This is a cheap and quick lunch stop for guys who don't care that the pizza tastes like a paper bag. Cheap and quick, baby. That's it. It's always crowded from 11:30AM - 1:30PM, but one of the best characteristics of this place is that it moves. You don't need to verbally communicate with the cashier at all, if you don't want to. Just indicate with your fingers how many slices you want and put the dollar bills on the table. Obviously the quality of the pizza is average at best, but my problem is that they don't bake it properly. There are always huge bubbles in the pizza, so some slices are literally half a dough bubble. And they totally profile who they give the slice with the bubbles to. I'm young and not in a suit, so they always figure they can slip me a poorly baked slice. I stood my ground, and now they know I will only eat bubble-popped slices. There's barely any room to stand (it's standing room only). Your plates barely fit on the ledge they have along the wall. In terms of environment, it's what you'd expect: flies, unclean, and hot as hell all the time since you're literally eating 5 feet away from an open furnace.

Ain't no shame in the 99 cent fresh pizza game. This review will be as straightforward as the business model: you go in, order a slice, pay $1, eat, and then scoot out. No frills - no muss, no fuss... A quick get in, get out place with, yes, FRESH pizza for just $1 (toppings are addtl. 50 cents. 2 slices + a drink will set you back $2.75 -- basically less than the price of one slice in most places in NYC. Will the sauce blow your mind? Will the cheese take you back to your summer vacation in Naples? Probably not... but just think... if you keep saving those $$ on this cheap-o pizza you can get yourself over to Italia one of these days and enjoy the real deal :)

Dude.... its hot NY style pizza for $1, or two slices and a soda for $2.75. Not sure why all the bad reviews. Yep, the sauce comes from a can and the processed mozzarella comes from a giant bag. STILL better than any of the big chains. For the location and the price it is truly unbeatable. You might get unlucky and get one of the old slices here and there, but 9 times out of ten youre getting exactly what the name says: 99 cent hot fresh pizza. Getting that thing right out of the oven is a beautiful thing at 3am while wandering around Manhattan. My most visited place when i go to NY. Cant beat it for the price.

It does the job. They work quick in there, cash only, so be aware of that. I slather mine with tabasco sauce and it's beautiful. Quick & cheap lunch for those on their lunch hour.

No surprises just good cheap thin crusted pizza. I loved how it had alot of cheese and a matching amount of sauce instead a ton of crust and very little cheese and/or sauce.

Since I usually pay almost triple for slices that totally let me down all the time, I come here. I really like the softer style crust. Cheese and sauce are cheap quality but not bad at all. Just wish this location didn't use so much oil!

You in a hurry and only have 10 minutes to eat lunch? I understand. We're all busy guys at work and don't have time to waste on lunch. So what's to do? Well, 99 cent pizza is here to save the day. The name of this place pretty much tells it how it is. 99 cents for a plain slice of pizza. This place is fast as hell. There might be a long line, but it moves faster than a cheetah going for an antelope. It's so fast that you don't even have to talk. Just hold up 2 fingers, give the guy $2, and you're on your way. Pretty much you're only getting a plain slice. They do have some other stuff like fries, chicken, and what not, but you're going to have to wait for that stuff. Your slices come out with a thin crust and it actually doesn't taste half bad. For $2.75, you get 2 slices, and a can of soda. In Midtown Manhattan, you can not get a deal better than this. It's not the best pizza in the world, but for 99 cents, it's amazing.

Definitely hooked on this place. I love that they always have plenty or the standard condiments to add on to the pizza. I dust mine with garlic powder, cheese, oregano and salt. Don't expect the penny back though if you pay with a dollar bill. They should just change it to one dollar pizza. Unless that's a tax thing. I recommend it for a quick cheap snack! Do not under any circumstances use it as cred for having eaten "good NY pizza" but its most def "good pizza".

Decor: 3.5/5 -Probably the same owner as the 43rd location. -There is standing space to eat. Service: 3.5/5 -They offer the usual toppings and hot sauce (Tabasco) -more friendly than the 43rd St location Food: 4/5 -The pizza was served piping hot and smelled great. -First bite and I was hooked! I immediately walked back in to buy a second slice. -The cheese and sauce was just right in saltiness. -The crust isn't as crispy but also not undercooked.

Is this the best pizza? Of course not. But it's 99 cents! In my 10 weeks in New York this seemed to be the quintessential cheap late night pizza experience.
(4)

Its .99 slices of pizza so after the bar its like heaven. The slices were hot and fresh so that made me happy. Definitely would hit this place up if I was drinking again in midtown or needed a quick snack before getting on the train. Two thumbs up.

It saddens me that I am all the way here in Cali and 99 Cent Fresh Pizza is all the way in NY. I can honestly say that 99 Cent Fresh Pizza is the best pizza to ever cross my mouth. It's been nearly 2 years since I've had my last slice I am still craving it. The price and the taste are spot on. It's just your basic pizza slice, but I'm telling you, pizza never tasted so good. Perhaps, it's because every slice you order comes straight from the oven. When I visited NY with a group of friends, we made our way to a 99 Cent Pizza location every night for our midnight snacks. I tried to find a pizza place out here that could satisfy my taste buds, but no place compares. OH 99 CENT FRESH PIZZA, MAKE YOUR WAY TO THIS SIDE OF THE COUNTRY!

Love this place. Highly recommend if you need to feed a crowd, work crew or just want cheap good eats. Cash only, but they deliver. Today ordered 3 pies for an office potluck. They arrived in less than 30 min and still warm. Everyone raved how crunchy and good the slices were. Totally passed for a more expensive joint one block over. Only giveaway pizza arrived in a giant black garbage bag. Hysterical and makes cleanup a snap.

who doesn't love fresh hot pizza for $1?!?!? I live two blocks from this spot and I have come here on many drunken and sober nights. This spot beats 2 bros any day! 1 slice = $1 2 slices = $2 2 slices + soda = $2.75 50 cents extra for additional toppings Best thing ever... buy a slice and walk down the street to 47th and Lex. Order a chicken/lamb combo with white and bbq. Throw away your fork and use your slice to spoon yourself bites of heavenly goodness! You can thank me later :)

What do you say? You get what you pay for. $5.50 for 4 slices of cheese pizzas, a bottle of water, and a can of soda. I didn't land NYC until a quarter after 11pm and this was the only place that was open when I finally settled into the hotel. If this "pizza" was considered cheesy bread, it would be alright. The tomato sauce was nonexistent and there was not much cheese on the pizza. However, the thin crust was lightly crispy and was pretty tasty. One star for late hours of operation, one star for the crust, and one star for the nice employee who reminded impatient New Yorkers behind me that early bird gets the worm. A few guys behind me kept throwing dollar bills at the employee and demanded a slice of pizza, but he stood his ground and calmed them down. Being a small woman like myself, people sometimes act as if they don't see you and I really appreciated the employee for that.

If this was a pizza restaurant I'd give it 3.5 stars but its not, its a friggen $1 slice spot and because of that ill give it the perfect 5/5. The pizza is doughy, chewy, soft, and have a good crisp around the crust. Not a lot of places can get this right, regardless as to how much they are charging for a slice of pizza. In this area its either this place or Naples 45, which are polar opposites in price but equals in satisfaction. Another huge point is that they always have their seasonings full! How much do you hate getting pizza and going to put parmesan or garlic on to find out the container is empty? This happens to me literally everyday at the other pizza places by my office. This is my favorite 99cent pizza place in all of NYC, and trust me when I say I have a lot of experience with that :)

Rob N.
Ok, I'm on business and could have expensed a $50 snack at Lexington Brass or the W. But you line up with the cabbies and other suits and wait for the next cheese pie to come out of the oven and you'll swear it's the best dollar you ever spent.
(5)
Paul H.
This is the best slice of pizza in the whole of New York. There is no reason to pay more than a dollar for a slice of pizza. All the other places that charge $4 for a plain slice are terrible. This slice tastes AMAZING. The crust is thin and crispy and the dough is nice and soft. There is just the right amount of sauce and the mozzarella just melts in your mouth. Deserves more than 5 stars!
(5)
Azinda M.
Average pizza, but actually a good slice for only a dollar! Also, service was pretty fast, and even at 1AM, they were cranking out pizzas. Not much more to say on that....

These guys are the best. Unfortunately they don't deliver, but apart from that they are fantastic. Quick easy to order and hella cheap
(5)
Harrison M.
Everytime I come to NYC, I make sure to stop in and grab some slices. You get what you pay for, which is a quick, cheap food option in NYC. The pizza tastes fresh and isn't greasy or unsettling. There is no tax to add to the dollar price so that is also a plus.
(5)
Jill L.
This certainly isn't 5 star pizza, but at 3:30am it hit the spot. A few friends and I arrived after a night of drinking and dancing. We needed something to fill us up before heading back to the hotel and passed by this joint. There was a small line and only a few slices left. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza, which was $8. It took about 10 minutes for us to receive our pizza, which seemed like eternity at that point. We devoured our greasy pie and didn't have any adverse affects, so we considered that a success!
(3)
Yoselyn F.
This pizza place was ok, BUT the service convinced me that I should pay at least $1.25 for my slices. The staff was really rude, slow and kept trying to make us wait although we had arrived before others. Apparently we didn't see the imaginary sign that said line up here. So we were punished with longer wait. When we called this to their attention they got upset. How are you upset when you are making me hangry?!??!?!!?

I mean it's 99 cent pizza. What they lack in ambiance, customer service, selection, etc. they make up for in delicious, quick, convenient 99 cent pizza.

Pizza's good and cheap. Perfect cheap lunch or late night snack. $2.75 for two slices & a soda...Unheard of for midtown NYC; right on Lex! Cannot beat the value and quality isn't bad. It is what it is - $1 slices and a stand up counter. Popular with tourists, drunks, cheap skates and hungry NY-ers looking for a fast, cheap slice.
(4)
Darika S.
This place is a piece of crap. The employee is lazy and didn't want to heat up the pizza slices even though there was no line of people. Who knows how long the pizza has been sitting there. I asked him to heat them up and he only heated up 2 of the 3. I'm not sure why this place is still running. The pizza is really mediocre and this is NY so move on.
(1)
MrFoodFood L.
Good pizza for $1. I go here during my break. The 2 slice and soda for 2:75 is also a good deal

I mean u call yourself 99 cent pizza, so I don't go in expecting much. I was trying to grab a last minute slice before hopping on a train at grand central. Not only did I not get a slice... I didn't even get eye contact for 10 minutes -- while 2 stoned out of their mind (not judgment -- just get me my ZA) pizza punks played pocket pool. And yes that is my first customer service rant for 2012. Happy new year 99 cent pizza! Bleh!

Dogy W.
The man that attended me seemed bias towards women. I asked if he could toast my slice & he did, but then I noticed an already toasted slice so I asked if he could give me that one instead as I was running late for work. He ignored me & went on w/his business. I asked again, but he continued ignoring me. I mentioned how rude he was being and he finally gave me the slice. When I handed him a $20. he said he didn't have change & he took back the slice, making me very belittled. Everyone was looking. He enjoyed every moment of it, as tho he were in competition with me. I sincerely believe he hated being told what to do by a woman, when in fact I was just asking.

$1 pizza in midtown... Bengali is the new Italian, apparently. So cheap, so greasy, so good. You can literally walk up, hold up the number of fingers you want slices, throw cash on the counter, and walk away with your fare within 10 seconds. Now that's what I call service. Amerrkuh: F*&^ yeah

There aren't a lot of places in New York wher eyou can get a hot, fresh meal for under 3 bucks. This is one of them. $275 buys you two cheese slicves and the 12 oz soda of your cohoice. The pizza is fresh day or evening; and the service is fast. This isn't close to the best pizza you can find, but it's right on the average mark - the cheese is on the thin side, the sauce is ok, and the crust doesnt have a lot of flavor, but it's properly cooked and just crisp enough. They won't win any pizza awards, but they definitely win the value award, and NYC needs value.
(4)
Carol Y.
Pretty great for 99cents! I've paid $3 for a pizza slice not as good or equivalent to 99cent fresh pizza from reputable NYC pizzerias. Added 50cents for extra cheese & it was good!! Their pepperoni pizza was good too! Def worth a try if you've never had it!

Trey N.
Cheap, tasted good, great for a quick meal, clean from what all I could see. Worth a 4 star.

This is a good location, maybe taste a little diiferent than the last 99 Cent Pizza place that I reviewed in 2009. I do like this as an extra option for lunch but I can't eat it on an empty stomach. For some reason this has a unique distinct taste for pizza. I mostly just rather pay $2.50 for a really good general slice of pizza. I think this is better than most options though for this type of genre. Check it out in Midtown East.

My friend and I was driving through NYC on Christmas to see the X-Mas Tree and were hungry. We kept seeing this 99 Cents Pizza store, over and over again, and when we made another turn, there it was again! It was a sign for us to pull over, park the car and leave the emergency lights on to quickly run in and grab 2 a bite. My friend was ecstatic, but I was skeptical...I mean, c'mon! It's 99 cents pizza!!! It can't be good..., but lo and behold, I was pleasantly surprised! The pizza tastes better than the typical $5 slice of pizza you'd find elsewhere in NYC. Better than Sbarro's, I think. 1 slice of pizza = .99 Their special: 2 slices + 1 can of soda = $2.75 (and they even have grape soda! ding, ding, ding!) It's not the best pizza in the world nor is it the worst. It's pretty good for 99 cents and I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to hit the spot when you're craving cheap pizza. This place is rather small and is only for standing say...4 ppl in there, MAX. It's more of an in-n-out sort of place. I dig it, and I'm sure you will, too!

Crazy Bernie S.
I'm giving this place a solid 4 stars. When all other pussy ass pizza joints in the city close down at 11 these soldiers of sauce and dough push on. When I spent a half hour riding around in a cab desperately searching for one last pie before surrendering to the battle of sleep I found this place on Lex and rejoiced. After filling a box with 5 slices and returning to feed my troops we realized that this 99 cent pizza is pretty dam good. Alittle light on the spices so make sure you hit it with the garlic powder, oregano, red pepper and black pepper. Hey, go ahead and sprinkle on some Parmesan cheese too. Why should you suffer?

Ppl forget that before pizza reached the heights of the institution and sometimes delicacy that it can be, it was street food for peasants in Italy. How hard can it be to bake tomato and cheese on bread. Well while some struggle this place keeps it simple and makes me very happy.

As far as 99 cent pizza goes, this is the best I've had. The cheese tastes like cheese and they now have made the crust crispy. All the other $1 pizza joints have a weird chewy crust going on. Even when I've asked to have the pizza well done it never crisps. It makes me wonder about the ingredients. Now, I'm not saying this places ingredients are better than the others, but at least there "bread" is doing what it should. Also, another HUGE advantage of this place is it's only $1. NO TAX, just a buck! I always hated having to give and get change at the other spots. Another big advantage is it's right across the street from my work, but that's not such a huge advantage, because there is another 99 cent pizza a few doors down, and maybe 3 or 4 others within spitting distance. (I'm really good at spitting some distance) Anyway, on that other place, don't be fooled not as good, if you're looking at the buildings this pizza place is closer to 46th Street and waaay better than the one closer to 45th.

Ok, I'm on business and could have expensed a $50 snack at Lexington Brass or the W. But you line up with the cabbies and other suits and wait for the next cheese pie to come out of the oven and you'll swear it's the best dollar you ever spent.

(5)Harrison M.
Everytime I come to NYC, I make sure to stop in and grab some slices. You get what you pay for, which is a quick, cheap food option in NYC. The pizza tastes fresh and isn't greasy or unsettling. There is no tax to add to the dollar price so that is also a plus.

Bleh!

(4)Thalie A.
Thin, crispy crust - check Mozzarella is mozarella - check Sauce is not sweet ketchup - check Served in under 60 seconds - check Cheap & cheerful -- check

(4)Trey N.

Great pizza for the price. Can't complain. Nice to get some hot slices and walk around chowing down.

Cant beat it for a buck.

Ppl forget that before pizza reached the heights of the institution and sometimes delicacy that it can be, it was street food for peasants in Italy. How hard can it be to bake tomato and cheese on bread. Well while some struggle this place keeps it simple and makes me very happy.
(5)Mr. Mojo R.
Pizza was lousy , not even a hint of sauce.. There are many better 99 cent slices out there.
(1)Jeremy D.
It's pretty much like the other 99 cent pizza places. Is it the best pizza? no. Is it pretty good? yes. Is it 99 cents? yes! awesome!
