This restaurant is in an old farmhouse that has been beautifully restored. The atmosphere is elegant, though there was a loud party upstairs while we were there and the tables were a little too close together for privacy. I had the organic greens with honey balsamic vinaigrette, the duck breast and a chocolate dessert that I can't recall the name of. The food was very good, but not exceptional. Although we had no complaints I overheard some of our neighbors complaining and one customer had to send her salmon back to be cooked more. I was disappointed in the selection, I am not a seafood person and the menu was dominated by seafood, leaving me very few options. There is a prix fixe menu, but there is a small window of opportunity to take advantage of it; you must arrive between 5:30 and 6:30, Sun. thru Thurs. Overall the experience was above average, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

My fiance and I went to this restaurant for Long Island restaurant week AND because we are using the owner Mat Carr's catering service for our wedding; Christopher Michael's catering. The food was simply stunning. It is expensive, but you really do pay for what you get here. I'm very excited and even if the catered food is half as good as this place, I'll be thrilled!

I was soooo hoping that this place could be added to our list of favorites on the East End....but sadly, it won't. I came to this place a few weeks ago to discuss the possibility of catering my wedding on the North Fork. The place smelled delicious and from reading the reviews, I thought I was in the right place. We were shown the "showroom" and was quickly disenchanted with this closet sized room. They did provide postcards for various vendors, which was appreciated. Now, back to the dinner this past weekend. We deferred our Valentine Day celebration until the weekend. We arrived at Jamesport Manor Inn this past Saturday night. We found the parking lot packed, which was a positive sign. We walked and were seated promptly, the place smelled great. Our hopes were being affirmed so far. That is until the table next to us sent their food back. And the table next to them sent their food back. We started to get a little worried. But we chaulked that up to tempetuous customers who are in the habit of sending their food back. We ordered our meal...beet salad, filet mignon and braised short ribs....and a bottle of a favorite Santa Barbara red. The bottle of wine was brought out, and it was incorrect...a white. No problem though...they took it away and quickly brought back the correct bottle. Our beet salad came and it was delicious. The main entrees came and they looked and smelled great....then we dove into them. My fiance found his filet to be without taste. I didn't believe him...so I took a taste and I can tell you that if you had blindfolded me and put this in my mouth I would be hardpressed to identify it as a steak, other than its texture. My braised short ribs packed a good flavor, but were a little fatty...not so good with braised short ribs. The dishes needed salt, something....(we NEVER salt anything, so for us to be looking for salt, there was a problem). But no salt on the table, and quite frankly we were embarassed to ask for salt. It would be tantamount to asking for ketchup at Peter Luger's. Anyway, we toasted to the fact that this would be the last time we came here and to the fact that we would be having Chinese take out the next night. We had dessert....profiteroles. They were delicious. Thank goodness for appetizers and desserts..... I don't get the previous stellar reviews of this place. Either they are being swayed by the decor and ambiance; they are too imbibed to have a keen sense of taste; or, they plainly don't know good food. You are much better off hitting the Elbow Room, heck, go to Pizza Hut at the circle or even better, hit Applebee's further down 58. Don't waste your money......our bill came out to over $250 with the tip.....lots of money for not a lot of yield. Thank goodness we taste tested....what a disaster this would have been had this been my wedding or my rehearsal dinner.

The restaurant has a beautiful building and interior, it is clean and well maintained. The staff are pleasant. There is plenty of easy parking. But most importantly the food was EXCELLENT. We had their Beet Salad and Chicken dish on the fixed price menu. The portions we perfect and I cannot imagine a better meal. The acorn squash puree was spectacular. We were so full we had to take the chocolate terrine home, and the chef even made the presentation beautiful in the take-out box. Definitely put this on your list of places to go.

I've been here a ton of times and it never disappoints. Staff is always great and the food is stellar. I wish they would bring back that duck strudel that was by far the best thing they had but this was probably 4 years ago I'm talking Just went there to try the brunch. It was very good. Only complaint is the pasta was a little cold and some of the food could of been swapped out for new trays but we were probably the last reservation there at two so I kind of understand since working in the industry for a long time. All in all this place always has great food drinks and service. A must visit when out on the east end

Went here for the 1st time for lunch. The food was very good along with the ambiance. The biggest down side were all the Flys buzzing around our heads. Very unnerving for such a pretty place. Hope they straighten out the problem.

My family has never been disappointed. This is our favorite local restaurant. Service is always excellent and the food is great. We have tried various dishes over time and have loved them all. I appreciate the use of local in-season vegetables. The plating of the food is always a piece if art. This restaurant really does everything well from the moment you step inside!

I had visited the James Country Kitchen many times in the past years and always had a great experience. One of my favorites was the pesto chicken on focaccia bread. Today I went to the Jamesport Manor expecting the same quality and was sadly disappointed. The chicken and the focaccia bread was overdone and inedible. A big surprise to me and my wife. With the price they charge for a simple lunch coupled with the lack of quality we experienced, we will not be returning there again.

We went for brunch on Sunday September 6,2015 and we all sat outside in the garden. It was beautiful and relaxing there was a great variety to choose from buffet style from breakfast to lunch with fresh fruit's and salad's, vegetables, pasta, french toast, eggs, fish and meat mashed potatoes, coffee or tea. Mimosas and Bloody Mary's too. Excellent service. I would recommend for any occasion.

Loved this place. Great spot for a nice dinner after a day of wine tasting. Beautiful old home, typical north fork style, really nice setting. The food was excellent and service was good. A lot of local people....

In the heart of Wine country sits this restored farm house turned restaurant. The décor is striking. You get the charm of an old Victorian house without the often squeaky uneven floors and small dimensions. If you are arriving at night the parking lot could use more lighting so watch your step as it's a gravel lot (wear stilettoes at your own risk). The menu is pretty broad with something for everyone. Some beef, fish, chicken, and pork, but no vegetarian offering. That doesn't bother me since I'm a meataterian, but those adverse to consuming carcasses should call ahead to assure you can be accommodated. Overall the meal was very good. I had the prosciutto and fig appetizer and the duck entrée. The duck was great, wouldn't change a thing. I had assumed that the figs in the appetizer were dried and not "un-dry" and I think that more intense flavor would have boosted the combination of ham, fruit and cheese to another level. It was fine as was but when I read it I was looking for a more intense flavor from the figs. We all enjoyed some different desserts and no one was disappointed. Form the Sorbet, to the crème Brule, wild berry tort and Gelato. There was an grumbling that the mint chocolate gelato was accompanied with blueberries, as opposed to some other complimentary candy, but it was a minor gripe. What was striking was our service that night, one of our party had been here on several occasions a was surprised how off the service was that night. There were three service errors (one per course). I was served the wrong appetizer (Oysters instead of the prosciutto), both me and my wife were served the wrong Entrée (She was given a short rib special, instead of her steak, and I received a Steak instead of my duck. No one ordered the short ribs, although they looked real good from across the table.) A final service error was the cold coffee served with the dessert course. So I would give this three and one half stars if I could, but I can't. So we are rounding down, If I get another chance to make my way back out there we'll give it another shot. With a better service experience, they can definately get that other half star at least.

I decide to try this for the second time... First time was 4 years ago. The décor is absolutely beautiful. The service was terrible. The waitress was not really paying attention to the table. I had to ask a busboy several times to call our waitress. A person in our party asked if the carrots in her dish could be substituted for another vegetable, the waitress flat out said NO we do not substitute anything period. Portions were small and prices were high. There is no salt on any table. We asked why and the answer was, "that's just the way they want it" . I had the braised short ribs, they were good. The butternut squash was so sweet, it tasted like dessert. The chicken entrée was good but again potato mash that was under it was extremely sweet. Not worth the price. I will not be returning.

After a day of boozing it up at the vineyards, the last thing I expected was to drink anymore or to have really good food. 1 out of 2 isn't bad. Our party of 9 arrived a little late and we were promptly seated upstairs. We drank water pitcher after water pitcher (it was nice to detox) I went with the following: - Jumbo Lump Crabmeat & Pear Tomato Salad, Avocado Lime Puree: this was the perfect appetizer - the crab meat was light and refreshing and the avocado puree packed a great flavor punch. - Pan Roasted Crescent Farms Duck Breast, Duck Confit, Homemade Black Pepper Fettuce, and Cassis Lingonberry Sauce: I'm always asking for trouble when I order duck breast because it is so easy to overcook or undercook. I was shocked at how perfectly cooked it was with carmelized skin, a thin layer of fat (that was not gummy), and perfectly medium meat. The duck confit complimented the fettuce (egg noodles thinner than fettucini) perfectly with a nice crunchy texture. The food took forever to come out, but when it's this perfectly cooked, I'll wait.

The food was delicious, the waiter attentive, the atmosphere romantic and comfortable. We didn't feel uncomfortable sitting with our 2 year old at the table and she loved the 3 cheese ravioli with mushrooms. delicious. They did offer kids meals that appeal to some. Fantastic location too!
