Live near MG and have been there a couple of times with my wife. Great ambiance and amazing creekstone farm burgers! The double patty can be a bit much for smaller folks but it's still well worth it, especially when you add some cheese to it.

These reviews are fake, or not written by foodies. Avoid this place. I live across the street, and wanted to like this restaurant - but it's awful. Brick chicken was dry, artichoke dip resembled sand, undercooked mac & cheese...and on top of that, after attempting to overcharge me, were rather rude to my girlfriend. Would rather drink dishwater and eat kitty litter than go back.

Perfect little spot in the neighborhood and exactly what was needed! The staff is really friendly, the food is great and the drinks are reasonably priced. I've been here 4-5 times already in a month and will continue to go back for more!

Just got take out and tried the brick chicken. It was delicious - some of the best chicken I've had at a restaurant in a long time. It's so nice to have a restaurant occupying that location again, but it sure is a treat that the food is amazing, too. I'll definitely be back!

Dear M&G, You are a welcome addition to the culinary desert known as Downtown Brooklyn, and more specifically the Metrotech area where I work. I have yet to eat your food (perhaps a work dinner in the near future?), but I do enjoy your morning coffee service. Thanks to you, I can enjoy a delicious Forty Weight cold brew in the morning while the rest of the clueless workers in the area down their burnt Starbucks or watery iced La Colombe coffee. There's one issue I have with you though M&G....if you are going to serve cold brew or any other iced drinks, please please please put out simple syrup on the counter with the rest of the add-ins. I have visited you at least 5 times now and every time I have had to ask if you have it. Sometimes you say you don't, and other times you find it in a large plastic container in the bar area fridge. I am a man that likes consistency, and it would make my relationship with you even better. Xo Justin

I had the steak frites, which was very good. But holy cow...the double stack with blue cheese (boyfriend's order) was phenomenal!! The bun is on the smaller side and in perfect proportion. It is honestly one of the best burgers I have had in a very long time! So happy I live nearby, though I'd get on a subway for that burger, which is saying a lot.

I read the positive reviews on yelp and had to check it out. The decor is minimalist, almost cafeteria style with plain wood tables, black steel chairs and white tiles on the walls. It was definitely a young crowd and at 7 o'clock pm I could barely hear myself think; it was so noisy in there. My dish was grilled Berkshire pork chop with spring vegetable ratatouille. The pork chop was nicely grilled; smoky on the outside and just a tad slightly pink in the middle. I thought it would bother me - the pinkness I mean - but it was sweet so I practically gnawed on the bone when it was the only thing left. And the ratatouille was excellent. Everything tasted fresh. If not for the fact that I've gone paleo I would have tried one of the desserts - but I will be back for lunch tomorrow!

This restaurant has some of the best food in the neighborhood. To the amazing staff, great atmosphere and great chefs, you will not be disappointed! We have gone their many times for all meals and have never made a bad choice on their menu which changes on occasion to even better choices! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick drink to a delicious burger! PS: the wings are amazing too

The sriracha chicken wings are excellent, and the brussels sprouts are also very good. The menu is overall very creative and seems to change every now and then. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming. They also have a lot of outdoor seating, which is a rarity for downtown Brooklyn.

Firstly - so glad to have something new in the Palmers spot. They had been closed virtually since I moved to the area, so this is great. But on to the food! My party of four came on a Saturday night and were seated very quickly - the place was about 75% filled, not very noisy, and playing some good up-tempo music in the background. Decent selection of beers (maybe 6-8 on tap and another 6-8 bottles?), and wines (maybe 6 each of red/white and another sparkling). Definitely not a craft-beer bar, but nothing to scoff at either. After getting a round of drinks (two beers and a carafe of the red "wine on tap") we ordered french fries, kale-quinoa salad, and burrata bruschetta. All were very good, with the only note being that we expected more kale than quinoa and got the opposite. Not necessarily a negative, depending on your taste preference, but for our group it wasn't ideal. Main items were steak frites, mac and cheese, and the burger. Mac and cheese, as mentioned in another review, is great. Wide, short tubes of pasta covered in warm gooey cheese, and a decent serving size as well. The burger was juicy, well seasoned, and absolutely massive. Normally would not have bothered finishing, but couldn't bear to leave something so tasty to waste. Prices were at good value for what you received in our opinion - about $120 for dinner for four people with 2 drinks each. Only negative in our books was that at times it was difficult to find the waitress - which is actually impressive given that you can see the entire dining area from any given seat. Definitely worth a try - you shouldn't be disappointed with any aspect here.

Congrats to the new owners! Was there for the soft-opening last night. I am happy to see the bar space moved to the middle of the restaurant. There is now more bar seating than before and is one of many subtle changes to old space when it was called Palmer's. The menu was short and sweet for a grand opening. We tried the buffalo wings and mac n cheese for starters. It was wonderfully prepared and very tasty. For dinner my friend had the burger and it comes with two patties. Everything was wonderfully prepared and so far so good. Staff was a little nervous since they didn't get a chance to try out all the menu items but was very attentive! We will be back for more! Off to a great start!

3 stars because the service is wonderful and on point. I felt that the food quality is decreasing every time I go there. First time burger was amazing unique and delicious, second time it tasted like McDonald's. I hope they work on keeping food quality consistent so that we can know what to expect when visiting.

We live nearby and our first visit to M&G was late one night for cocktails. The cocktail list was creative, our drinks were strong and good. Second visit was for coffee followed by brunch. We ordered cortados which were excellent. Then we sat for brunch. Overall very good, I had two eggs over easy with crispy home fries and my fiancé had the kale and quinoa bowl with a side of homemade breakfast sausage. Tasty! The only downside was it was a cool rainy morning and the AC was on really high, so we ended up eating quickly because it was cold. Also they charge for black coffee refills at almost $3 each, we didn't realize this and racked up our bill. Regardless, this is a good neighborhood spot and we will be coming back.

Dependable, good brunch food. Great Bloody Mary's. Service is so so but definitely not a deal breaker. Good addition to the neighborhood.

A+. Food, service and ambiance was on point. The waitress, Mara was very friendly, helpful and quick! Today was their first day of serving brunch and they passed with flying colors.

I've been to M & G a few times now, so I guess it's time to write a review. My last meal was brunch on Sunday with my daughter, and like all the other meals I have tried it was great. I had the granola, yogurt and fresh fruit to start. I don't know what they put on the fruit, but it was sweet and delicious. The cold brew coffee is better than the one I make at home. My daughter had her favorite, Mac and Cheese. It has been consistently good each time she has had it. The space is clean and comfortable, and the waitstaff was very attentive. I like this place and it's badly needed in this food desert of a neighborhood. I hope they stay around for a long time.

A great addition to Downtown Brooklyn/Dumbo/Vinegar Hill where there isn't much! That being said, it's not only great because there isn't much else nearby. It's just great. We had the short rib eggs benedict and the steak and eggs. Both great. Eggs were done perfectly and I am a very picky egg eater. Water came in a giant mason jar with ice and lemon -- it's the little things! Service was great. Everyone was friendly. Atmosphere was cute and not in-your-face trendy. To top it all off it's reasonably priced for good quality and tasting food. Would definitely go back. Might even make this my new brunch spot over Vinegar Hill House. Only comment -- please start delivering!

My white wine and sangria were really good! And I loved everything I ate, which was a lot since I sampled the salmon, the wings, the Mac and cheese (omg the Mac and cheese), the steak, fries and pork off other people's plates. I'll be dreaming about my mushroom bruschetta and risotto for weeks... Seriously good food, I cannot wait to go back!

Picked this place last minute to brunch. I came here with another couple with two toddlers. The place was not crowded but the tables they had available inside were too high with bar stools. Unfortunately, bar stools is no seat for toddlers so we chose to sit outside where they have picnic style tables. The staff did accommodate us with high chairs for the two toddlers. Our waiter was nice but the service was a bit slow for my taste. My friends and I didn't get our utensils until after our main plates were served and that's because we had to ask for them. We ordered French toast, M&G sandwich, pulled pork egg Benedict. I'm not a picky eater but for some reason I just didn't like the French toast as much as I wanted to. It tasted stale even though I know French toast is made with stale bread but I never tasted the staleness before until now.My best friend ordered the same plate but she enjoyed it; so all I have to say is everyone has a different palate. Forgot to mention the French toast plate is huge!!! My husband ordered the M&G sandwich , while my friends husband ordered the pulled pork egg Benedict and they both thought their plates were delicious. Keep in mind if you order the M&G sandwich its small. It's the size of an egg mcmuffin from McDonald's. So if an egg mcmuffin doesn't fill you up, then order a side because if you don't you're still going to hungry. We also ordered orange juice and it literally tasted like tang; not a fan!!! Tang is not for a restaurant. Last but not least we had to ask our server for the check three times waiting about twenty minutes. Overall, I rate the place 3 1/2 stars. The place looked nice inside so the next time I come here I'll sit inside and order a different plate. The place has definite charm and is great for brunch. I'll give this place a second review soon.

Pretty good food. For dinner I had the brick chicken - a wee bit salty, but good 'n crispy and moist. Mac n cheese was just ok...dry pasta and cheese, well-seasoned though. Some people like their mac like that, I've learned... Breakfast - They have pastries and coffee available - both just ok and pretty expensive, considering the other options in the area. For brunch I LOVE the french toast...but be warned...brunch supposedly ends at 4p but they shut down service way before then and limit the menu to wings, fries, chips and guacamole until 5p. Therefore, if it's after 3:45p on the weekend, find another spot in the area for brunch (or just food...). I ended up going to Forno Rosso. Decent wines on tap...nice atmosphere and like the way they arranged the seating (much better than it was as Palmer's).

I've eaten here a couple times on weekdays and it was fine. But I went in on a weekend looking for a salad, and found their "brunch" menu - served until 4pm Saturday & Sunday - is basically breakfast and burgers...really disappointed! In my opinion, they need either a broader menu for brunch or they should serve brunch AND lunch from noon to 4pm on the weekends for those who want a healthy lunchtime meal on the weekends too! Left and went somewhere else...

My boyfriend and I decided to have a few drinks while watching the hockey playoffs (I recommend their "Spring Fever" drink, very yummy) The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We decided to stay for dinner and went with the artichoke dip as an appetizer, which was probably the best I have ever had. The double-stacked burger was cooked perfectly and the fries with aioli go great together as well. The clam linguine tasted like garlic-buttery goodness and it was a large serving. The coffee here is also really good. The ambiance here is nice and they have outdoor seating which is another plus.

I've only had brunch here and it was delicious!!! 5 stars for sure. I had the Mushroom omelette which came with Rosemary potatoes. I also tried a blueberry muffin and got their cold brew coffee to go. Such a great addition to the area and the location is prime for all the large apartment buildings around the area. I'm excited to return to try their dinner menu.

Thank goodness we have an awesome bar and restaurant like this right in the hood! Food is not only reasonably priced, its also absolutely delicious. Try the burrata, wings and fries...and check out the cute bartenders ;)

Our first trip in was for brunch. The meal was pretty close to the definition of mediocre. A brunch entree and one brunch drink a piece, no coffee, was over $100 for 4 people before tip. The food simply doesn't warrant that expense. The smoked salmon plate for $14 was presented well but is simply ACME packaged salmon served with toast and a small salad. The burger looked solid - save for the skimpy bacon - and at $16+ was no great deal. I am glad that businesses are thriving in the neighborhood. However, at $30+ pp for an entree and drink, I think one can do better elsewhere.

I live very close by so the convenience of this place had me excited. Unfortunately, each visit has been a serious disappointment. On one occasion I had the salmon which was dry and overlooked with some sort of diced vegetable concoction with no flavor, drenched in oil. Wanting to give them another chance, my boyfriend and I went for dinner a second time. I ordered the octopus salad, which was once again over cooked, rubbery and dripping in oil. Absolutely disgusting. Even going in for a simple drink was a let down as the bar tender was nowhere to be seen. Eventually an off duty waitress jumped in and took my drink order. The service at this place is terrible. They even tried to overcharge us for our drinks as we were leaving! If you appreciate good food and service, take a five minute walk to Fort Greene of Carol Gardens where there are plenty of real restaurants. This place won't last long, save your money and tastebuds and avoid this place at all costs.

Great place - low-key but with great food, drinks, music and atmosphere. All the food I've tried there has been great -- from heavier (burger & fries, brick chicken) to lighter (fantastic salads). It's also a really nice place for drinks. It feels more like a bar with great food rather than a formal restaurant, though there is table service. Great new neighborhood spot.

This place is terrible. My date and I went recently one night and our experience was not what we expected. She ordered the brick chicken which was dry and over cooked with no seasoning whatsoever. The Brussels sprouts were still cold in the middle. I opted for the burger which also lacked seasoning and who the hell puts white onion on a burger? Service sucked. Our server didn't know anything about the menu and barely checked on us to see how we were doing. These guys have no business opening a restaurant. Let's see how long this one last.

So great to have this right in our neighborhood! I will be a very frequent visitor. Firstly, they have great espresso drinks and the NICEST, most PASSIONATE barista ever (sat morning Americano was amazing)- open 7 am all mornings so go for your coffee fix. Went for dinner that night- everything I ate was great. The french fries are to die for. Roasted Brussels were good (though next time I'll try carrots- im picky about my roasted brussels). Kale/Quinoa salad was delish. Portions are nice. The wine list is well priced and has good options. Great beer list. Would love a gluten free beer offering aside from Cider! In fact, would love connotations on the menu about gluten free. The bar is super nice and they are working on their cocktail menu. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Service a tiny bit slow at the start, but once ordered food came out fast. I know this will improve with time. Congrats to the owners and we will for sure be back soon! (happy hour please!!)

Stopped by Myrtle & Gold after work and ordered the burger, which was gigantic and amazing. One of the best burgers I've had in NYC. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly--great neighborhood spot.

Overall, I thought this restaurant has the right idea but is lacking in execution. The service was friendly but not attentive enough for the quality of dining they are going for. I thought their risotto was bland and underwhelming and their salmon was dry and also underwhelming. From first glance, the menu looks inviting, fun and a little daring. I didn't think the flavors actually met that dialog though. There is room for improvement here and I probably wouldn't return until I notice a larger crowd. If it stays at the rate it is now, I'm not sure it is going to last. Pros: Great interior, very friendly staff, interesting enough menu. Cons: Bland food, slow service

I've been to M|G 4x in the past two weeks so I think it's safe to say I like the place. This place is stellar as a neighborhood spot - and I hope it stays around for a long time. The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance is cute enough to feel a little more special than your typical last resort after work meal. Service is good, although I do find the "seat yourself" policy a little too nonchalant/laid back for me. That said -- it does allow me and my boyfriend to sit at our preferred table in the back 3 out of 4 times, so that's good. This place is good for both brunch and dinner. The french toast is the best I've had anywhere -- huge portions of unbelievably fluffy french toast topped with berry compote and a generous pat of lemon butter. It's so good you don't even need maple syrup. Their coffee is good too, and I appreciate any place that has almond milk on hand. For dinner I'm partial to the fries (really great and so addicting with the addition of extra pepper as a seasoning) paired with oysters and the $16 carafe of rose(!). M|G isn't perfect though. Their spaghetti with clams (my favorite dish in the world) was served with the clams without their shells and was so heavy handed with the salt, I couldn't finish it. Other than that one misstep - a lot of the other offerings look good and I'm sure I'll be back soon.

So far so good. I like the atmosphere, however, the table sitch is awkward and the chairs aren't comfortable. I'm not a fan of high tops and the place is mostly bar seating and high tops; there are only a few regular tables in the back. When I go to a restaurant with low lighting, and am in the mood for the kind of vibe this restaurant seems to be peddling, I want to sit at a table that doesn't hurt my ass. The food is good. We ordered the wings which were on the sweet side, but had a kick that continued to build as we ate. They were crispy and fresh. Would order again for sure. The burger is good but nothing to write home about. The bacon is thin and doesn't really contribute much to the sandwich. For the extra $$$ I expect some sort of artisanal, thick-cut, smoked-over-endangered-bark nonsense. The LTOP was really fresh and the bun was nice. Hopefully a one-patty option appears on the menu soon as the only burger offered is a double and is a bit too much for us. The fries are on point and the salad was legit. I asked the salmon addition be cooked medium and it came out medium rare, and in some spots rare, but if cooked to the proper temperature would have been a winner. The salad was chopped which was a nice surprise and the dressing was tasty. Overall it's a solid option in an area that really needed it. If this place opened in the city I would have given it 3 stars but in BK, and this area, it's a 4 though I hope the owner doesn't let the lack of competition stifle quality.

This place has been a god-send for my wife and I as it is one of the very few, places that has outdoor seating and has never given us a problem with bringing our dog. The food is always great, especially the mac & cheese and bone marrow apps. Very highly recommended.

Went in for lunch with a friend. He had the burger (they only offer a double burger, which was waaay too much meat). The order of fries that came with it was also humongous. I only wanted something to drink (ginger ale, for stomach/heart ache). Both were fine. I really like the ambience of the place and the waitstaff was very attentive.

I live right next door and have been here for happy hour and brunch but had an early dinner today and decided I had to review. I had the spaghetti with clams. So delicious I didn't even need cheese. I'm Italian and this rivaled even my grandmas pasta. So good. Will be back

Nothing really special happening here. The food was average, the fries were limp and disappointing and the burger was just ho hum. I left thinking I could have gone to 5 guys and gotten a meal made with more care. Go here because it is convenient not because it is memorable.
