Nah. You want sushi? Go somewhere else. Service was weird and our rolls were unimpressive.

The 50% off Sushi was definitely the draw for this place. Walked in and saw that this place wasn't as busy as it should be for the discount they were offering up. I asked for hot tea not relaizing that they charge $1. Scanned the menu. Specialty rolls were buy 2, get 1 free. Don't be fooled though, at an average of $12 a roll, the 3 rolls still come out to $8 each. Plus an additional charge of $1 per roll for brown rice--not cool. Although it was nice to have sashimi pieces for $1 each (check the menu). Service was alright. We ordered asking for brown rice on the rolls and were given white rice. I was acknowledged for a tea refill but had to ask a second time. Having left paying $25 for dinner, I definitely could have had better.

Food is pretty good, but I have to knock them down a few stars for the terrible service. They forgot part of my order, which i understand happens from time to time. It took 30 minutes of the delivery boy not understanding the cross streets and address which is literally one block from the restaurant. They had just sent someone there earlier. Then when my food finally arrived, the bottom of the bag was soaking wet from the liquid spilling out. Disapointed.

I've been to this place before without a problem - until today. I told the waitress before we ordered that I had a sesame allergy. We ordered some appetizers, that we told her we would be sharing, and then some sushi. The pork katzu comes out and I'm eating it. About five minutes after my first few bites she comes back and says "oh, you ate some?" After replying yes, she tells me there is sesame in the sauce. An argument ensues with the waitress telling me that there's only a little, and it should be fine. At this point, since I've already consumed a food with my allergen, we got up and walked away. As we were leaving, she continued to argue that I would be fine, not knowing or caring about my allergy, or how severe it might be. She proclaims, as we're leaving, "call me from the hospital!".

To be fair I have NOT tried their hibachi, which seems to set them apart from Mura and Jpan on the same street. However, their sushi is clearly a class below those two. I guess they know that themselves, since they are priced lower than their competitors. I walk by this place all the time and the "50% of Sushi" banner is always there, so don't get too excited.

It is the last time for me dining at Ginza. Ginza's customer service SUCKS!!!!! Last night was a nightmare. I entered the place at 6:30 pm. Whomever asked how many was in party put up a finger to indicate 1. I said no. We are going to be 12. He said okay, pointed me to the hibachi grill and I said yes. He told me to sit down while the area was being cleaned up. Other patrons started coming in and being seated. I saw that the area where we were to be seated now had 20 chairs. I told the hostess that we are only 12 people and we do need so many chairs. By this time, I have been waiting for 10 minutes. The hostess then tells me that I didn't have a reservation and that area was reserved. I asked for the manager, but every male in the place was saying he was not the manager. I was super peeved. I do enjoy their food and hanging out with friends around the hibachi grill is fun, but their customer service is awful. We went to the nearest bar to decide on what we should do about dinner and ended up at a Mexican restaurant for a enjoyable and filling dinner. ' I won't be going back to Ginza.

Given all the variations in other yelpers' reviews for this place, I wanted to have a couple of visits to Ginza under the belt (literally!) to review it objectively. Well, today was my 3rd time eating there -- 2 dinners and 1 lunch. So, in a nutshell: Food: fresh fish, generous sizes (pieces), tasty rolls. Nothing extra-creative, but solid. Service: just ok. The food came quickly, the waitresses (on all visits) didn't exude excessive friendliness, but that's kind of normal for Asian restaurants. Today our order was mixed a bit -- they forgot to put mango into the mango-tuna-avocado handrolls, but it was fixed quickly. Price: makes it all work. $1 nigiri pieces (except a couple of more expensive items like uni), $2.50 rolls (which you can order as handrolls -- and they're quite good!), and order-2-get-1-free specialty rolls -- much better deal than at quite a few other sushi places. So, the verdict: unless I'm going to a super-duper-way-out-of-the-ordinary place, why spend an arm and a leg when Ginza fits the bill perfectly? There are plenty of very similar places that would cost a lot more... Yay! I'm a fan. P.S. Haven't tasted their hibachi dinners yet -- but observed a couple of shows from a distance, and the chefs were quite impressive with all the tricks.

Food is preety decent and the show is good, but make sure you have at leaset 18% tip are you check and tip will be returned with a nasty request for more tip. Screw you Ginza thats why you haven't seen me in months. Was a very loyal customer.

A fun treat for dinner. I always order the filet and lobster hibachi and I am never disappointed! Wash that down with a glass of plum wine and call it a night.

So I went there tonight. The atmosphere is nice. The hostess was ok/nice. The wrong thing she dis was give the check without asking if we wanted dessert, which we did. The chef wasok. He did a little performance before cooking. Nice show. He threw food in my friends mouth. I declined . As the chef put sauces / ingredients from a lil boy figurine that resembles the boy urinating, the chef turns the thing towards me and intentionally wets me. It wasn't water n my dress was white. I think he meant to get it in my plate though. Thefood was ok. Bothering brag about. I think it needed just a Tad bit more seasoning. Out of 5 stars I give 3 .

I made a reservation. Specified habachi. Showed up with my date 5 minutes early. The girl behind the counter says 'I know you have a reservation, but there's going to be a wait.' 'How long?' '10 minutes.' I looked over at the table and they're just taking orders for both tables. She gave away our seats! And we were EARLY. We sat down, she got us one beer and ignored us the entire wait (which, of course, was well over 10 minutes). We were going to order sushi while we waited but couldn't get her to pay attention. But here's the saving grace- Because she gave away our reservation, we got placed at the next table which had no other customers. We got a our own private dinner and show! Date night salvaged.

To be honest, we came in because everywhere else was packed. Didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Sushi was pretty good. Hibachi looks great but we only had sushi. Regular sushi rolls are all half off and special rolls are b2g1.

I don't know what's peoples deal cause this place is great. I've ordered from here a few times and the delivery was fast and friendly. The times I have called they have been super nice. And 18% gratuity isn't such a big deal ... stop being so cheap!

this review is for food delivery.. since it was raining.. my buddies and i decided to order in.. i got an order of soba noodles.. my buddies got some rolls and some other rice dish.. the food came promptly.. my soba was a but mealy.. and the broth is one-note.. and that one note is pretty nasty.. thankfully the weather got better during my visit to nyc

Love this place. I've both dined-in here and had delivery, with good service either way. The best part is the interesting rolls they throw together-- shrimp, mango avocado, being one of my favs. I've only seen the hibachi from afar but it looks amazing! I order so much, they have my info on file which makes delivery super-easy! The prices are very reasonable, the food is great, it's an easy win. :)

Wow- this sushi was not good at all. A friend suggested after seeing the 50% off- that should be the red alert. The atmosphere was lame (just like many of the sushi rest. in Brooklyn)- bad decor, low music and just blah. The taste was simply bland-- and just not good or fresh. This place should close down so decent places like Mura can actually get the business. A shame- sorry I wasted the calories!

This place gets 4 stars for "Yay! I'm a fan" of half price sushi. Period. I admit I was a bit skeptical at first, questioning the quality of the fish and wondering, what's the catch (sorry for the pun)? It turned out to be pretty good. Nothing to complain about, nothing to write home about. If you are looking for authentic Japanese, go elsewhere (where they don't serve hibachi). But--at the risk of sounding like a gluttonous, cheap bastard--if you are craving hit-the-spot, takeout-style sushi, why fool yourself and spend $20+ a person somewhere else when you can pile your plate with your favorite rolls and not even hit the credit card minimum.

Started as a good night out. Hibachi man was entertaining. The bill had a built in gratuity of 18% waitress was young unpleasant and rude. Less, then a,minute, after paying bill spotted a roach on the table. Waitress, did nothing. Never going back

The food was ok but the crappy service out weighted it. We were 1 of 3 couples in the restaurant and we had to ask multiple times for water and tea. The table next to us complained about getting the wrong orders and were loud and obnoxious!!! the items in the menu are crossed out in marker and pen and the new prices are barely legible. I would suggest trying some of the better sushi spots on 5th ave that have better food, cheaper prices and better service! Too bad because it's a cute place...but such a disappointment!

We live three blocks away and have kids, so have been here at least 20 times. I'm sorry to say the place is in a nosedive. Sushi is inedible. I had the roll with mango inside and it was not ripe (bitter and crunchy). The last three or four times (since their half-off "special" started) it's been this way. Service is consistently rude and incompetent too. I'm bummed because this place was great when they opened a couple of years ago but now they're on the "never again" list.

It feels like I'm in a Bad Romance with this place. I keep coming back for more of that terribly addictive fried rice. I should rate it higher since I've been ordering their takeout for years; however, I can't let go of how insanely bad their "customer service" is. Be prepared to get yelled at or cut off (via phone) by at least one lady in particular. I'm not sure why they're consistently in a foul mood. I wouldn't recommend eating anything raw as this place is far from authentic Japanese. Don't be fooled by "Jian Z.'s" semi-professional photo of their sushi. Speaking of which-how SUSPECT is her 5 star rating and proclamation it's the best sushi ever while her only other misspelled review of Jpan is 1 star: "disgusting, tuna is not frest". Really? Only 2 yelps from a middle school girl? Suspect... The hibachi is decent. The delivery guys are all right. TARO SUSHI and HIBINO FOREVS!!

I admit the only Hibachi spot i visit frequently is Benihanna's in the city...and it's still my fave but outside of the city...Ginza is the only other one I would recommend. Their fried rice is superb....and the vegetables and meats taste good too. For two people the bill came out to about $55, I would make a trip to brooklyn just for Ginza.

Nah, dude. Nah. I work on 5th Avenue -- a few blocks south of this place. I think it's a pretty sweet location to work, and since I've been working on 5th, I've tried to make it a point to eat at as many restaurants as possible in the vicinity. I had an hour to kill before I was to report to work one day a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted sushi. I should have chosen a different sushi place. Their lunch offerings are terrible. Perhaps their hibachi is bangin', and I should give them another try, but I don't see why I should when there are 2 other sushi places right near Ginza that I can think of offhand. Chances are I'm not going to go out for hibachi when I'm looking for a place to eat. I got the teriyaki shrimp bento box lunch special. Their salad, as a former reviewer of this place mentioned, was literally half a handful of wilted iceberg lettuce. The shrimp was rubbery and overdone and their teriyaki sauce was far too sweet and syrupy. Not to mention that they charged me a dollar for the green tea I ordered, and it tasted like a cup of boiled water. I was really disappointed. They appear to have some interesting menu choices as far as sushi rolls go, and if I had to go again, I would definitely make sure to go for dinner.

Seriously, having a place a couple of blocks away to get hibachi is great. It is such a goofy treat. If you live nearby you really owe it to yourself to stop by. Just fun. Seems like other reviewers might have a problem with the sushi? My advice? GET HIBACHI. Man there are tables where chefs do knife tricks & such while cooking in front of you. GET HIBACHI.

WOW. Where to start? I was excited to try Ginza. A friend really liked it. Now I'm pretty convinced she must have this place mixed up with ANYTHING else. Most awful ordering experience I've had in probably close to a year. One of my items came coated in a substance I can't eat (not won't, physically can't). The seasoning wasn't listed in the menu and I'd never seen it seasoned that way (in my experience it's been seasoned with other things) so I was kind of pissed. Instead of discussing it with me when I called or looking for any kind of solution, the individual on the other end of the phone yelled at me for not knowing (psychically I presume) that this particular restaurant always makes this dish this way. This individual went on until I promised never to order from them again and hung up. I've learned three things tonight: One, no matter how odd or ridiculous it might be for someone to put the thing I am sensitive to in certain kinds of food, I will ask for the rest of my life. Lesson learned. In the most bizarre manner ever. Two, if you have an issue with something at Ginza, any notion of "customer service" goes out the window. Three, despite the fact that I just spent a fair chunk of money on what amounts to some appetizers and a soup, I am going to go to bed very hungry. This will teach me to deviate from my normal sushi places.

I can barely sit up after receiving the WORST bout of food poisoning i've ever had after eating here. I shall never be lured in by inexpensive sushi again. It's my own fault I guess. but after 24 hours of puking my guts out among other lovely things I may never eat sushi again. Okay, I gotta go puke again. Stay away from the sushi!

Sooo I was hungry and couldn't leave the apartment, so I decided to order delivery from Ginza owned "Pad Thai". First I called to place the order and they basically rushed me through the phone call. Second I specifically told them my apartment was on ground level and they went to my neighbors apt on the 2nd floor Third, they gave us the wrong order Fourth, we called to have them fix it and they not only gave us attitude and were rude (about the order they screwed up) but they claimed that the lunch special we ordered didn't exist on the weekend (even though the menu specifically states available every day.) Time to find a new thai place UPDATE They finally came with the "correct dish" It turns out that they just dont know what Pad kee mao noodles are. They brought the non-spicy pad thai again and called it pad kee mao. Soooo done with these clowns

Huge portions! I had the spicy tuna roll and the tuna, mango, avocado roll. I've also tried the chicken hibachi and my boyfriend had the steak hibachi. The lunch special prices are great, but I don't think dinner here would be worth it for the price. The teeny bopper music they play in the restaurant is annoying.

There were 4 hairs in my sushi. This raised a number of issues: a) what kind of hair? b) how many hairs were there that I didn't find? c) why did I eat it all? Each of these questions occupied my thoughts at length. a) What kind of hair? Short, black. At the first strand I hopefully thought jersey fluff and imagined a chef in a striped woolly jumper. At the second hair I considered animal hair, and happily imagined a dog preparing my food. At the third and fourth, the longest yet, I had to face up to their probable human origin. Ick. b) How many hairs didn't I find? If X = number of sushi rolls, Y = length of hair, Z = my powers of observation, then, obviously, X+YxZ/Yx2. Just cos. Another line of consideration: was I eating different hairs or the same hair, laid the length of the sushi roll and sliced along with it? c) Why did I eat it all? This is simple: I was hungry and couldn't be bothered cooking anything. Also, I'd been picking dog hair out of my mouth all day, and was this any less healthy? If we'd been at the restaurant instead of eating delivery, then perhaps I'd have showed the staff (but perhaps not, I hate conflict). The horrified look on my table-mate's faces suggests they have higher standards of hygiene and more power over their stomachs. The woman who took our order said that the Yakitori was white meat but it sure wasn't. It was also icky, though the dogs thought otherwise. The Oshitashi (spinach) is outclassed elsewhere. This is my friends' favorite sushi place in Park Slope. They've had plenty of good luck so my experience may be atypical.

Lunch was horrible. The Vegetable Tempura Bento box consisted of potato, taro and a piece of broccoli. The Steak Teriyaki Bento was ordered medium well done but came out ultra rare. They split a California roll between the two of us and the salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce. The service was horrible, they stand next to you talking during the entire meal or behind you not talking but making it awkward to have any sort of private conversation, even in the completely empty restaurant and the food in general wasn't worth going out in the snow for. We were considering ordering the fried banana for desert, they brought the check without asking us if we were done or if we wanted anything else. They literally dropped it down and took off.

Terrible service. "You know what you want?" is NOT how you take someone's order. And the sushi rolls were just sloppy. There was spicy salmon all over the place. Never going there again.

Came here last night with a few friends and we were literally the only table there. My friends ordered a few special rolls and some regular rolls while I tried the salmon sashimi and the salmon teriyaki. I was not impressed at all by the salmon sashimi. I tend to get a piece of the salmon sashimi whenever I go to a Japanese restaurant because it will tell you a lot about the quality of the food they serve. Big mistake in getting the sashimi because you could tell it has been frozen and was thawing on my plate. I tried picking it up with my chopstick but it broke apart which was clearly not a good sign. The salmon teriyaki was OK. It was a big portion but the teriyaki sauce tasted a bit off. It lacked sweetness and was very watery. Meanwhile, my bowl of rice was very hard like it had been recooked a few times and laid out in the open for a while. My friends didn't seem to be impressed by their rolls as well even though the special rolls were presented very nicely. Similarly, they complained about the sashimi thawing in their mouth. I would NOT eat their sashimi again even if you gave me money to eat it. There are lots of good restaurants in the area and this is certainly not one of them. Save your money and go somewhere else for better quality food.

Came here for a birthday party on Saturday night. I wasn't in the mood for hibachi and my friend highly recommended the sushi, so I went for that. It is super cheap, everything is half off, and that makes me nervous. That and the B rating on the door. Do some research and you'll find out that a disgusting amount of violations equals a B rating. The sushi was really good though, fresh and prompt and huge. My friends ordered hibachi and enjoyed the performance by the chef, even though the guy working on the next table did a lot of other tricks and gave a way better show. A big downside came from the sanitary nature of the hibachi. When the chef scraped off the meat residue it became a large, gelatinous ball that he played with for a moment and then brushed into the corner. He then quickly plopped some veggies down right where the meat had been. I watched as my vegetarian friend made an awful face, and I could tell from across the table she was debating eating it. Yeah, it looked pretty disgusting. Another complaint was the service, its a pretty small place yet for most of the night the waitresses (who kept switching off) were nowhere to be found. Gratuity is included, which I also dislike. Something about this place rubs me the wrong way, and in a sea of Japanese restaurants I really hope to now come back here.

I saw that our building orders a lot of take-out from this place. And it so happened that I ran into one of their delivery guys in our elevator, so I asked him for a menu. They had $2.50 sushi rolls on their menu and I was thinking it was one of those marketing gimics where you think it's only $2.50 per roll and you call in and they say that deal is only available during happy hour or during lunch time....but to my surprise that wasn't the case. Given the great deal, my husband and I ordered a bunch of sushi rolls and within 25 minutes, they were at our door. It was quick, easy, cheap and fresh. We will definitely order from them again.

This is your normal hibachi place. I'm pretty sure every hibachi chef has the same exact training (make the fried rice into a heart, light the onion and put out the fire with the boy that squirts water out of his pee pee, toss vegetables into peoples mouths, etc...) I have been here twice now, and the first time, I think I got the chicken, which was slightly dry, although the second time, I got the steak, and that seemed to be ok. I wouldn't say that anything is spectacular about this place, neither was it that bad. Depending on your chef, you may have a slightly better show at the hibachi grill, but it's all basically the same thing. Definitely got my craving for hibachi sated here, but then again, I was pretty hungry, so my standards were not that high.

I stopped in here late just for a simple garden salad and some green tea ice cream. Both were amazing! They use *the* best mango/ginger dressing I've ever had with really good greens, and the green tea ice cream was the best I've ever had. Great prices and nice staff, too.

I came here with my boyfriend after we kicked around food ideas for a few minutes.... when we finally settled on sushi I was a little sad because I wanted something a little more hearty than a few rolls. Then we found Ginza. On a Friday night, we still managed to be seated at a hibachi table right away with another party. I figured, when in Rome and ordered the hibachi filet mignon and boyfriend ordered sushi. The hibachi chef was great, all the food on my plate was awesome (fried rice, vegetables, two shrimp, and filet mignon). The sushi I tried (tuna) was great - the fish was so fresh and the rice was perfect. The rest of the sushi on the place was apparently awesome as well. Ginza, we'll totally be back.

Most people seem to have rated Ginza based on their hibachi experience. I've ordered the sashimi bento box for delivery twice now, and for what it's worth, both times have been fresh and delicious. They seem to have a large delivery zone (they deliver to Prospect/Crown Heights!) , and it was prompt both times (neither delivery took more than 30 minutes). There's a $10 minimum for delivery, so I had to go with the dinner bento for $12.95 (lunch is $8.95). The sashimi portions were smaller the second time I ordered. Perhaps it had to do with the time of day. The first order was placed after they had just opened, and I got eight generous cuts of sashimi [2 each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and mackerel(?)] along with a California roll, shumai, miso soup, rice and a salad (aka iceburg lettuce, a slice of cucumber, a slice of radish and thousand island dressing). All in all, it's a very tasty, filling, and thrifty meal. The second time around (placed after 4 pm), I got the same selection of sashimi, but the cuts were much smaller. I suppose I would much prefer smaller cuts to larger pieces that didn't taste as fresh... there are worse things to complain about, If you have a good sense of portion control, you could fill yourself up with the sashimi, salad, shumai, and soup and save the California roll and rice for your next meal.

My husband and I normally LOVE this place. Their food is delicious! They are a little bit on the pricey side, but the portions are larger than most Japanese places, so it's worth it. HOWEVER, our most recent experience was terrible and I will NEVER step foot in there again. Our bill was $53 and my husband left about a $6.00 tip, which admittedly is a bit on the low side, but we just spent over $50 on dinner AND it's a recession AND the service wasn't that great this time around, our waitress was a bit on the rude side. As we're getting ready to leave, the waitress comes over and says to my husband "How much is the tip?" Thinking she couldn't read his hand writing, he tells her. She says "Oh no, there is a 15% minimum for tips." Um, no there's not. It's not mandatory that you tip at least 15%. A tip is a direct reflection of the service and the service wasn't kinda crap, so that's all you get. You want a bigger tip, be a better waitress! After that, my husband gave her one cent more. I was so offended I would've crossed out the tip entirely and left her with nothing, so she's lucky I wasn't the one footing the bill that evening. Needless to say, we won't be going back.

Vegetarians beware! I ordered for delivery, a hibachi vegetable special and a veggie roll. The food came quick enough, and when I took my first bite of the veggies, I thought they tasted a little fishy. I started digging around and found one lonely shrimp that had been mixed in with my veggies. This leads me to believe that either 1. they cook all the orders together and separate out the veggies and package them up for the veggie orders, or 2. they are sloppy with their ingredients and a piece of shrimp fell into wherever it is that they keep their veggies. In either case, I'm not okay with that. They refunded part of my order, and were apologetic, but came and picked it back up as though they didn't believe me or thought I was trying to scam a free meal. I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years, and have never had meat in the kitchen on my apartment. Thanks, Ginza, for introducing meat to my kitchen for the very first time!

This place is the pits! My boyfriend and I ordered their lunch special which was supposed to come with spring rolls as stated on the 5 menus I have for Ginza. When our food came without the spring rolls we called and they made a really big issue out of it and said they would have someone come back to bring them. However 5 minutes later they called me and said they don't have spring rolls and wouldn't be able to complete our order and hung up on me. What Asian restaurant does not have spring rolls!!?! Especially when the menu 'clearly states' that they are included in the lunch special... About an hour later my boyfriend called them back and asked for an order of spring rolls and they totally fell for it and processed the order, but he let them know straight up that they were caught! I know I know..all this for just a spring roll? Is it worth it... maybe not..but neither is Ginza. If your service is this bad, then your food better be amazing, which it is not. Save yourself the phone call and the attempt to find the lost spring rolls....

I ordered here for take out... We had a whole assortment of sushi and nigiri! (We also got miso soup obvoiusly.) The lady that was taking our order was really nice to us and let us have a seat while we were waiting. She also offered us tea and other drinks to occupy our time... I really liked it, it was just a bit pricey that's all.

WORST SERVICE IN NEW YORK. The food is mediocre. The service is worse. I made an order and they delivered a totally different (and cheaper meal). When i called and asked them to correct the order, they told me it was my problem and i should take it up with the credit card company if i was charged the wrong amount. DO NOT EVER GO HERE. TERRIBLE PEOPLE.

The food was delicious but the service was horrendous. It seems like everyone here (waitresses, cooks, hostess) woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I would recommend using this restaurant solely for takeout. The fried rice and the hibachi chicken is delicious but the experience of the restaurant is disgusting.

A random yearning for Hibachi led me to check this place out this weekend, and I'm so glad I did! The place was bustling when we arrived Saturday night, and were seated at a hibachi table with a group of 5. The mood of the restaurant was cozy and festive - even the waitresses were giggling at the hibachi chefs' antics. Service was very attentive and friendly, and our orders were quickly taken. You get a LOT of food for about $21 (plus entertainment!), we were stuffed by the time our free pineapples arrived at the end of the meal. Our chef was really funny and performed several tricks - both impressive and silly, but it didn't hinder his ability to churn out some delicious food. I loooved the fried rice, which was prepared in front of us, and craved it the rest of the weekend :) We tried the chicken, scallops, and steak - all were pretty good, but I thought the scallops were particularly tasty. I'm glad to have found a hibachi place so close to home, and will definitely be back with a group of sake-loving friends

Terrible! If there is 0 star, I would've given this place a 0 star. The chef was not the greatest, he almost hit my friend when he was doing a "trick" in the beginning. Yea, it was fun to watch, but that's it. The FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. For $17 (tips and taxes), I could've had better Japanese food. The chef was cooking too much food at the same time, neglecting other food that he was cooking. The shrimp was nearly fried, and the salmon was too dry. The filet mignon... forget it! Real Japanese hibachi uses only salt and pepper. Here, he used a few sauces. All in all, it's terrible! The soup was plain soup, not even miso. Please see my videos to see what I mean. flickr.com/photos/kelvin… flickr.com/photos/kelvin…

Hibachi is incredible and there's not many places around that have it. My beau and I go to Ginza to dine anytime we feel like a great and entertaining meal. We've now been about a handful of times, at all different days of the week and times of the day and it has been consistently good. Overall, we have tried the chicken, steak, shrimp+chicken, and steak+mussels combo and all have been exceptional in taste and product. When ordering the hibachi option you also get a side salad and miso soup, what a deal! We've had the luck of having a whole table to ourself (which leaves more one on one time with the chef for his 'let me shoot a broccoli in your mouth with my spatula' trick) as well as sharing it with other families and both experiences are great. The prices are good for the quantity and quality of the food you're receiving- the staff isn't super attentive and the decor is nothing to write home about. For a fun date or just a great time with friends this places serves up a mean hibachi.

It's a sushi + hibachi place. Only had sushi there. Fish, shrimp, etc. aren't too fresh. No toro either. It's quite cheap compared to other sushi places. Go down the block to Blue Ribbon for better sushi but it will be more expensive thought.

I have ordered, eaten in and taken out at Ginza. Service is quick, you can usually find a table and sushi is pretty great. Try the roll with shrimp and mango in it; it sounds weird but its so good. Once my sushi rice tasted very fishy (in a non-fish roll), which is usually something I really dislike but it has only happened once. Oh and also, its cheap.

Good entertainment for the kids. 3 ft high flames, fast moving metal, my son was laughing with glee. However, we went early and when the grills were first lit there was a small stream of bugs to running for their lives right across our table top. And like the old joke, the food didn't taste very good but there wasn't enough of it. The primary seasoning of the fried rice was butter and the vegetable portion was so small my wife said she could have eaten double. I'm happy that there's a hibachi place in the Slope, but I hope it cleans up.

For those of you who LOVE hibachi this is the place to go. And yes you need to be more than a party of one to get the full service show (DUH!) The fried rice and veggies are out of control. And you can tell the chef when preparing to cut out the butter so you save on the calories. I recommend the scallops or steak, both are super juicy and moist! Soup is eh, but everything else is simply DELICIOUS and very reasonably priced. We ate hibachi for two and got lobster, steak, shrimp, scallops, beer and saki all for about 70 bucks! Not bad eating 5 star for such a low price. We will def be back!!

Probably one of the best places for sushi that I've had in brooklyn. Very fresh fish and a good assortment of vegetarian rolls as well.

First off, I'd like to mention that this is the first time I have been to a hibachi type japanese restaurant. I went on a friday at 645. We had a reservation for 7 because I remember reading something about a full place here so we got there early. It was empty except for 2 other small parties. We sat at a grill as well. Not only was the service quick (it was almost empty), but the staff was great and very good with recommendations. I wanted some sushi but I was having trouble deciding. The waitress asked what I liked, I said I liked spicy foods and no shrimp and BAM. Beauty and the Beast roll. She was sure this was what I wanted. She was right! The fish was SO fresh. I have to say this is the best roll I have ever had. I ordered the filet mignon and scallops. The cook was very fun and engaging, although he did make a few mistakes. Big deal though, he did some cool tricks, made an onion volcano, the usual from what I hear. At the end he made two little balloon animals for the little girls sitting at our table. The filet mignon was so tender (even though I like well) and savory, The scallops were perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all, and the outsides had a great char on them. The rice was delicious, even for plain old fried rice. I really have no complaints (although I wish the seafood portions were bigger) and definitely plan on going back.

The sushi here is pretty decent. I'm obsessed with rolls that are tight.. yes I said it. My sushi rolls have to be tight, they can't be loose. I don't want pick up a piece with my chopsticks and have it fall apart. I've had better quality sushi, which was expensive. Ginza is good for someone like me, who's a student and holds a part-time job.

I really like this place a lot and I'm picky. I'm subletting in Brooklyn and I was choosing from menus that were at the apartment. Based on the reviews and the late hour we were ordering, we were basically left with Ginza. I'm glad we tried it. It's cheap but it's really good. I was expecting iceberg lettuce and dressing. Instead, it's mixed greens with julienne cucumbers, grape tomatoes and sliced MANGOS. That's right, one of the most expensive fruits out there. The fish is good and the price is right on.

Hibachi in Park Slope is a nice addition, as the neighborhood certainly doesn't need another Japanese sushi restaurant. I have been once for lunch, and once for dinner. The food is fair, tastes good, but without that "wow" factor. We sat at the Hibachi table, and ordered Mixed Tempura, Beef Negimaki, and Gyoza. All were reasonable renditions. Then, for the hibachi, we got steak, lobster, and scallop. Unfortunately, the scallop was gritty, and texturally, the feeling of dirt between my teeth is not a pleasant one. I liked the fried rice with egg, although it was slightly overcooked. The service was prompt and friendly, and the prices were decent. Not sure if i'd go back anytime soon, but I'd probably be willing to try again.

Not bad, not great. Went here for lunch yesterday with a buddy, we were starving, which means the food should have tasted way better! Hot tea is hard to wreck, and the miso was yummy also, but again hard to wreck. Plump edamame, yum. The beef negimaki was all scallion, definitely a little too much, and not enough sauce (or maybe just not pungent enough). Kudos for the awesome lunch special, 3 rolls for $9.50, but they were very hit or miss. Spicy tune crunchy and lobster salad rolls (also with crunchies) were excellent, but the yellowtail scallion and salmon avocado were big misses (yellowtail had no scallion, and the salmon one was way too much avocado and just a lot of mushy). I would come back to try the hibachi if I'm at Leo's again, but definitely would not go out of my way to get food here again. However, they do deliver, have pretty excellent service, and have some good specials, so if you're in the area, maybe worth checking it out.

Today, on a whim, I accompanied two of my lovely colleagues on a trip to Ginza -- all of us had never been there, and we were eager to try a new restaurant! We'd come with the intention of ordering sushi, but once we decided to sit at the Hibachi table, we could not resist! The Hibachi is everything you expect -- great entertainment and showmanship on the part of the chef, lots of food, and fast-paced fun. Between the three of us, we tried the scallops, chicken, shrimp, and filet mignon -- all were very good! I observed the chef making a couple of changes based on a child's special dietary needs, so it was neat to see that they were able to make adjustments. We were surprised we weren't offered dessert! The check came while we were contemplating green tea ice cream (not that it was necessary after ALL THAT FOOD)! Free pineapples arrived at the end of the meal. That's right, free pineapples.

Went there on a Sunday night around 7pm. The place was less than half full. They had no problem seating my wife and I at a Hibachi table despite the fact we would be the only ones sitting. The service was quick. Our chef- Skye was great. He did some tricks that were beyond the standard fare that you see in Hibachi restaurants. The food was delicious. We will be back for more!!!

they have mango rolls! yum! and decent lunch specials! their shrimp tempura roll is special cuz it has fish eggs. most anything they make is a bit more special than what I can ever attempt at home. and nice hibachi! unfortunately they need atleast 2 ordering hibachi for them to put on a show for you...otherwise your hibachi gets cooked in the backroom. so we joined some strangers table and watched from there. the chef was way cool. nice onion volcano, etc.,.

If you want to eat at the Hibachi (big grill, cook in front of you, chef do tricks, laugh & clap), for the love of God, make reservations first. We tried to go on a whim, but they refused to seat us due to other parties w/ reservations. Even if you have reservations, get ready to wait and go through a bit of drama when seats might be ready, but then really aren't. The waitresses/hostesses can be a bit pushy about seating you quickly at the Hibachi. There is also sushi and other Japanese food available and yes, you can still order from the Hibachi menu without sitting at it, just like we did. I ordered a teriyaki chicken dish which came with soup, salad, fried rice side, Hibachi veggies, Hibachi shrimp (3 small ones), and the teriyaki chicken. Other than the soup/salad, the other items weren't very flavorful and the 2 dipping sauces they give both tasted too strongly of ginger for my taste. For about $19-25 per Hibachi dish, I'd say wait until you can sit at the Hibachi (you're paying for a show) or otherwise head to any other Japanese place, where you're likely to get better food.

Helooooo Hibachi! I've developed a habit of ordering the filet mignon hibachi via delivery every couple weeks. It's to die for tasty!

Came here on a whim with my husband and 21 month old not knowing what to expect because we hated JPan across the street (see my review) and this had the tacky 50% off signs all over, but we gave it a shot. It's very kid-friendly, and we ordered our son's appetizers first (gyoza and beef negimaki, both perfect) and came quickly. We ordered 3 special rolls (3 for 2) and $13 for a special roll in Brooklyn is pretty standard so we were very happy to get the 3rd free. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. The child was mesmerized by the hibachi table action and festivities around us, which kept him fuss-free the whole time. Nothing to complain about here. We also had two beers and a hot sake between us and the bill came to a mere $58. That kind of sushi bill hasn't happened to us since 1998. We will go back as soon as possible. EDIT: every time we go, the one male waiter acts so angry that we need a highchair and want our child to be able to see the hibachi from our table. He gets so angry it makes us really uncomfortable. Every single time.

this is a hibachi/sushi place, i've never had hibachi here, so hibachi fans please go and eat for your selves, but i love the sushi, the sashimi pieces are very generous and always fresh, they have great deals for lunch, i've never been disappointed, and when you order delivery they are prompt and haven't gotten an order wrong yet. i love them. ginza--i love you :)

We ate here 3 or 4 times in one week, yep it is that good! Call ahead of time though & reserve a seat if you are trying to eat at the Hibachi grill, & i highly recommend you try it. It doesn't taste quit the same if you just order off the menu, still good though, but there is something about it being made right in front of you that makes it that much better! The customer service is really good to.

My sushi roll was good, the edamame was mediocre at best. The real problem here is the service. The waitress was rude from the start, for example, giving my friend attitude when she didn't hear her order. But the worst was when we got the check. We were a group of three girls in the restaurant when there was only one other table, so it's not like they really needed the table back or anything, but from the second they dropped the check, the waitress would not leave us alone! She came back on three separate occasions like rapid fire to try to collect the payment. Then when she brought us our change, without even giving us a second to sort through things she barked, only $2.86 your change, no tip, no tip!?!? Dude, we're three people splitting a bill. Let us finish settling up when the change comes before you go insane. Needless to say, I don't need that shit, especially when JPan is directly across the street ; )

I always walked by this place but never patronized it until I saw the sign for 50% off sushi. As a sushi obsessor, I could not pass up the great price so I figured, if I get food poisoning, at least it was good going in. Nothing of the sort happened. I'm not going to say its mind-blowing sushi but good enough for 50% off. I brought m skeptical boyfriend to eat here after I did the initial taste test and he too agreed there was nothing wrong with the sushi. I'm sure its because their business is lacking (I never see a full restaurant at various times of the day) and this is a ploy to drive business before they close. As long as their serving decent fish, I'll be a customer! One odd thing I will mention is, they only provide you with a sushi and Japanese food menu when you sit down but for delivery they serve Thai and Japanese food. Two different menus, two different restaurant names but the same phone number and address. Not sure why they don't advertise the Thai food in the restaurant.

The hibachi was decent (I had the steak and scallop) but needed a bit more flavor, something to add a kick. The lighting is super dark for some reason.

I'm afraid I have to add to the negative reviews. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I needed to warn people about this place. Like many, I made a reservation for hibachi to celebrate a birthday - my son's 11th. He had his friends there, all of them 10 or 11 years old. I made a reservation for 4:30. We got there at 4:25. At 4:50, they took our order, and at 5:30, the chef finally came. At various points in that hour, I was told that the delay had to do with 1. us being late (not true), 2. the chef being late (I think this was true), and 3. the other chef called in sick (I don't think this was true). Knowing that many people reserve for birthdays, the management should really consider getting a back up chef in case there is actually more than one reservation at 4:30. We had come from a Mets game, and the very active kids were starving by the time we sat down. We got through a whole hour of waiting and whining, but as I told the hostess, my son only has one 11th birthday, and the restaurant did nothing to make it a good memory. I do not go for the food. The seafood is chemically preserved and not fresh, and the rest is mediocre. I go because my son likes the chef's antics, which is why one of the other solutions the hostess offered wouldn't have worked - to have food cooked in the kitchen and brought out.

Beware of roaches!!! This was our second consecutive Sunday coming here. What attracted us were the pricees but that does not make up for the service. We were a party of three for the hibachi and right off the bat the waitress informed us that if another party came we were going to be asked to move!! Why should we? We were the only customers there, we should have first dibs at the best seats. That's not the best part. Halfway thru the show i saw a ROACH on one of the sauce plates!!! They kindly removed the plates and the roach. 5 minutes later there was another roach crawling on the floor in the same area. This is unacceptable. Got a 20% discount off bill but I couldn't eat my meal. Won't be back ever.

This was my first experience ordering take-out sushi from here. With so many better places nearby, I will probably not be ordering from here again soon. The portions were a bit small, the fish didn't seem that fresh, they were skimpy with the wasabi, the pickle ginger was dyed magenta (normally light pink) and the sauce on the unagi was watered down. I didn't end up getting sick though so that was a pleasant surprise. JPan sushi across the street is a better bet. Also, this is an aesthetics thing but can they get rid of that sign outside the restaurant with the corny looking chef wearing the hibachi outfit?

Solid and affordable Park Slope sushi joint. While not the tastiest nor the best sushi I've ever had, the service and quality was on par with the price. Can't ask for much more. I would recommend any roll with shrimp tempura, as that was the star of the show. I'll consider coming back for the Hibachi next time.

Great food, and great service! We went here as a group over the weekend. Everything was super fresh and delicious. We all had the hibachi in different styles with a side shrimp tempura rolls, California rolls, and pork wonton. The food was hot and flavorful. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and made our experience amazing. We will definitely be returning. Our waiter was very fast and made sure we had everything we needed. It had a nice setup. The clear soup was delicious.

Stopped in for a snack and the rolls were so good it turned into a meal! The rolls are super yummy and only cost two bucks!! The spicy rolls are great and they also have really good ginger. Went in with a hangover and left feeling totally cured! :) plus the staff is super friendly and nice. YUM

So, last night my friends and I really wanted to go to a different restaurant in the slope, but the wait time was two hours and they didn't allow reservations. After searching for a good hour we ended up at Ginza Sushi. I mean the food was alright, but everything else about this place was just so wrong. First of all they marked up the menu saying sushi was 50% off with a marker. Now being a graphic designer, I looked at it for a good few minutes and was like... ummm WTF??? Why couldn't they just make something to slip in the menu that says this or maybe just get new menus printed. Honestly they should have just get new menus printed because fried calamari was spelt fried calamary... and they didn't have a drink menu listed. On top of that our service was terrible, we asked if they had a drink menu and the waitress was like no... so we then asked if they had drinks, and they said yes.... well like what kind come on. Our last issue was our checks, we had asked for them to be split and they were not and then it become this big thing and they forgot who paid with what and forgot to bring cash back, etc etc, on top of them not checking on us our whole dinner. I mean the food was alright but the service was just so bad that I highly doubt I would ever go back and would just suck it up and deal with a wait time someplace else.

Sometimes 1 star isn't ONLY about subpar food, but also for experience and the principle that one should never leave an establishment totally livid. The location is small to the point of it being a safety hazard because the chefs cook in the same TINY space between tables. The food was OK; made me miss Mama Yoma ever since hurricane Sandy forced it out of business. I'd give it a 3 BUT : It was my parents' anniversary so I asked if they could surprise them with a cake and they said, "No because it's not a birthday." So I rolled my eyes and offered to buy the cake and candle as long as they surprised them with it. So as I see the lady walking towards our table, singing with the cake, I yell surprise and my parents look so happy only to realize she brought the cake for the little boy at the next table for his birthday. They NEVER did bring my cake. Assholes. Never again. I was absolutely embarrassed and my parents deserve better.

It used to be an amazing half price sushi - very fresh and yummy, however they stopped doing the 50% off deal and now it is a full price sushi - which is not such a good deal anymore. Dissapointed.

Great meal. The shrimp teriyaki was excellent. Veggies cooked just right. My daughter loved the Miso soup. Had California roll and tuna sashimi was to die for. Price amazingly low.

It pains me to only give this place 2 stars because the food is actually good; it is the service that is absolutely horrendous. Where should I start? Made a reservation for 4 for at Saturday night in order to celebrate a friends birthday over hibachi. The reservation was for 8:30pm. At 8:10pm I received a call from a female at the restaurant demanding to know where I was. I advised her that my friends and I were on our way and that our reservation was not until 8:30pm. She then stated consecutively with out giving me time to answer "So you plan to come? Well how far are you? You will be here on time, won't you?" I barely got out the word yes before you abruptly hung up the phone. My friends and I arrived at 8:29 and were greeted quite rudely by a female host who based on the voice I am assuming is the same person as the phone call. She advised us that it would be at least a 20 minute wait for our table. When I questioned her about the phone call she acted like she did not understand english and without a word walked away. When our table was ready she slammed down our menus and again walked away. She proceeded to slam chairs and dishes around our table like a 4 year old having a temper tantrum. When she messed up one of our drink orders (we ordered 1 large saki and she brought out 3) she argued with us about it. We thought it was just us until a 2nd party joined our Hibachi table and they received the same royal treatment. Under the guise of a draft from the door, we requested to move and were seated at a new table with a more pleasant server. Save yourself the headache if you are going to get food from here order out!!! PS- They automatically add a 18% tip to your tab regardless of your party size!!

Aside from a pretty cool Hibachi cook, totally forgettable experience, overall 2.5 All other hibachi places we wanted to go to on Friday were booked so decided to give this one a shot. My first impression was that the interior was pretty outdated and almost seemed like it belonged back in the 90's. I ordered the Lobster and Filet Mignon Hibachi, which tasted all around pretty standard, but I have had much better. The Filet was much better then the Lobster. The soup and the salad included in the Hibachi could have just as well not have been. The soup was not good clear soup (first time ever I did not finish a clear soup) and the salad had very little ginger dressing and just a few pieces of iceberg lettuce. The fried rice was by far the best part of the meal, which is okay with me, because I am a sucker for good fried rice. The prices for Hibachi here were the same as any other Hibachi place, which I did not think was warranted because most other Hibachi places have higher quality, are a lot "fancier" and aesthetically more pleasing. The biggest redeeming quality was the really great hibachi chef, who was funny, and pretty enthusiastic. With all the great Asian food spots in park slop, this one leaves a lot to be desired

4 stars for the price, maybe 2 stars max (that's being very generous) for the service. Came here for dinner last night because I was craving sushi and was pleasantly surprised by how inexpensive rolls were in Park Slope. Price wise, it was an easy decision between this place or Jpan across the street. $2.75 for a roll and $1.25 for sashimi. I would say stay away from the philadelphia roll because I don't think they know what it is......The rolls were normal (pretty large rolls for the price though), nothing spectacular, but they did the job. Sashimi was fresh too! If you're in a rush to go somewhere, this is probably not the place for you. Service was pretty bad, super slow. Otherwise, if I was craving sushi again, not in a rush, and on a budget, this would be the place to go!

We go here often for hibachi because it's pretty cheap and reliably tasty. The service is pretty average and the joint is slightly depressing. But hey we do end up going here often so that says something about the food. We usually get tuna and scallops - both good :)

A true 3-star hibachi joint. I was pleased to find that we could be seated immediately and didn't need to wait for the rest of the table to fill up. Steak and chicken combo was good, but nothing special. It would have been nice to get some lomein with the meal too in addition to the rice and veggies, I thought that was the status-quo with hibachi. The chef was friendly and pretty skilled showing us some tricks you don't always see. He also squirted a husky shot of sake into my mouth for no good reason. Can't complain about that. Can complain a bit about the additional service charge after I had already tipped the chef a $20. It was weird he didn't feel like I hooked him up at all since there were only 3 of us. I thought it was pretty obvious he should put that towards whatever the "additional service charge" was. Rather than make it awkward I paid and as a result probably overpaid. I don't think they are trying to build a loyal customer base. When in the mood for japanese I'll definitely explore yelp a bit more before settling for Ginza. It does have hibachi though so that speaks for itself since I'm not sure where else I can find quick hibachi in Park Slope.

They used old, spotted avocado on my salmon avocado roll. That was a lasting first impression. I of course asked for a new roll, it was just preposterous that a roll like that was brought to the table. Aside from that roll, the others I had (spicy tuna, spicy california, and lobster salad) were surprisingly decent. And the service was pretty good.

My first hibachi restaurant. Cool experience...the chef was entertaining. Awesome aim with throwing broccoli into our mouths lol. (I missed mine though) I had the chicken hibachi. It was pretty good. Also like others mentioned, the sushi is 50% off. I was skeptical about that because when anything says 50% off I worry about the quality or I think something is wrong with it, BUT to my surprised I really liked my sushi...and I'm not even a big sushi fan. It was also inexpensive, definitely a good spot to go to if you're on a budget. I didnt like that it was so dim in there though, but I guess thats supposed to add to whole hibachi ambiance and having fire in front of your face.

This place runs a 50% off deal on sushi, which is decently cheap, but they're not the only people in the Slope making that offer. I popped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Hostess let me seat myself at the bar, and even though the restaurant was close to empty, she finished sweeping the floor before she wandered over to offer me a menu me. She forgot half of my order [two items, btw] and also cleared my plate while I was still chewing my last bite. I then waited ten minutes for my check. I would write all of this off to one lousy server, were it not for the following: -Smoke from someone else's cigarette break wafting through the kitchen into the dining room -Sweet potato tempura roll made with regular potato. Oh, the humanity.

Krystal G.
Their sweet potato rolls never disappoint; I don't eat any seafood sushi so I can't really comment on that but from my understanding the pricing is great. I would however highly recommend getting the hibachi for dining in; the only catch is that theirs a two person minimum for that. The one time I ordered it to go it didn't quite a fill my expectations.... I've eaten here bunch of times and its always consistent in flavoring. Services has gotten a bit better with the waitresses being more attentive now. They give you a lot of food so I usually get to enjoy some leftovers.

Average food and low prices. Our table ordered rolls and hibachi entrees and they were OK. There was nothing special about the food (except my 'salad' was made up of only lettuce?)

I'm gonna be up front right off the bat,the main reason I order from here is that they are the only sushi place that delivers to my office in Red Hook that takes Amex so I can put my lunch on the company card. That being said since most of my meals from here on on the house I think that makes it taste a bit better. I read some of the reviews and they seem to feel the people are not the nicest folks and I will admit the order taker is not the warmest of ladies. I have never been in the place itself so I cant really speak for the wait staff. As for the food it's as basic as basic Japanese gets. The rolls are cheap but on the small side. Positive thing is they have alot of different kinds of rolls. I particularly like the lobster roll roll (keep rolling rolling rolling...oops sorry) and the Shrimp Mango Avocado roll. I have a rule that Mango improves just about anything. mmmmm mango..... The cooked foods are pretty basic, not bad and not knock your socks off but I have tried all of it because I order from there so much (again because its free). The terryaki and tempura are ok. So I will keep ordering from Ginza until they open another, better sushi place that delivers to the wilds of Red Hook and take Amex because did I mention I like food that's free?

I wish I could do zero stars. This place has HELLA cockroaches. And they are super rude. Go to Jpan across the street instead.
Had a great time. We were a birthday party and we were running behind schedule so everyone showed up 30 min late for the reservation. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful and we were able to sit. The "salad" was iceberg lettuce, although the ginger dressing was delicious, the clear soup had crunchy fried onion in the bottom which was different. Anyone going to a hibachi place knows the sequence of tricks and I was not disappointed here by the chef. I requested rare filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The portions are huge as per the usual, but worth taking home. The combination platters are very well priced, and the sushi is right now half off. It seems a little bit strange, and I don't know why it's half off, but it tasted fresh and there were no ill side effects, so take them up on the offer!

Service without a smile. And an automatic 18% gratuity for 4 people. The only reason we came here was for the teppanyaki cooking performance -- and don't get me wrong, we did enjoy the show. Even though it was a bit briefer that we expected. And the prices were OK. But despite that, we left feeling underwhelmed. They would do well to improve their service.

Don't let the 50% off sushi banner fool you. They aren't really a crappy discount Japanese restaurant offering yesterday's seafood. They just have really, really bad marketing. The food is pretty decent for generic Japanese food. The service was ok, nothing spectacular but nothing to be upset about. The sushi was standard and they have a decent variety for the price. The best part about this place is watching the hibachi chefs in action. They make you part of the show tossing food or pouring sake into your mouth. And since this place is pretty generic with a variety of dishes, it's great for really large groups. Friends and family from out of town? They'll love Ginza. The hibachi area accommodates at least 12 people. They would definitely get better ratings and more business if their servers were a little nicer and they cut it with the silly 50% off sushi banner. People expect to pay for sushi. They're on a busy Park Slope block that already have a number of sushi places. They can gain by standing out by boosting the hibachi creds.

I went late friday night 10:30pm and was able to be served with a hibachi chef. the price was good. they have this two person special for 49 which includes shrimp. steak and chicken. not bad for a hibachi chef. the taste of the food was ok nothing to be excited about. the hibachi chef had a couple of funny tricks here and there but overall it was ok. The service was bad, we were waiting for some time to be served. we had to knock the table or the chair to get their attention. while the staff chit chat at the cash register. the sushi chef were playing video games on their cell phone while we ate. it felt kinda awkward. it deserved 3 stars because unlike other hibachi restaurants we were able to just walk in and get a chef with no reservations. i have not found a hibachi restaurant with that option so might come back at some point.

This review is for weekday lunch, when the Hibachis are off. During the day, it's pretty much sushi and bento boxes. They offer some lunch specials... a bento box with protein choices - or 3 sushi rolls for around $10. I opted for 3 rolls, which you choose from a list of 20+. I was a little annoyed that a number of them had no description, so you have to ask (unless you have the wisdom) to know what's in an Alaska roll, Boston Roll, etc. The other slight annoyance was that most of these rolls were gimmicky.... cream cheese/wasabi mayo filled, etc. Just give me some simple fish. One roll I liked, one was ok and the other I forget. Each roll was cut into 6 pieces, so you get 18 mouthfulls, which is a pretty good deal/meal (also with soup or salad). I actually felt a bit stuffed. The other negative was they were very slow... I was the only one there and 2 chefs took 20 minutes to fill my order. Granted they seemed to have some delivery orders, but still... it's a pretty big space so I kinda spent much of my time twiddling my fingers. I was working that day and needed things to be a bit more swift. With 4-5 other sushi places nearby, I'm going to have to check them all before I can really say this is the best deal for a weekday sushi lunch.

How does a place I orginally reviewed place 4 stars and then drop to 1? Simple: turn me off two times. Last time I went, there was a smooched piece of broccoli on my menu (another reason why I don't like hibachi - they throw food). In my latest escapade, the waitress messed up our order. She stood dumbfounded when my friend told her that all our rolls were to be brown rice. Waitress stumbled and said, "I forgot". Sent it back - we want what we ordered... The bill came and they charged us separately for 3 brown rice, $1 each. Something that's not even denoted on the menu. Time to go back to the other Japanese Restaurants in the area. Ginza, you blew it.

Was a regular customer, ordered pretty often here, although today is the last time. 1 - soup was fine 2 - salad was terrible, didn't even bother. It was brown -yellowish stained. Looks like it's been a good day old. 3 - Salmon was way too over cooked 4 - rice that normally comes white, was off white-yellowish looking like it was old rice. 5 - the rice used for the rolls were not sushi/roll rice. It was regular cheap rice that falls apart once you pick up with chopsticks. 6 - Chicken KatSu was extremely dry and blan today. 7 - 5th ave roll (besides the rice) was terribly fishy. 8- asked for Spicy California roll to replace the regular California roll in the Bento box. Usually they replace just fine. Today they just dripped two rows of the yellow spicy sauce over the top of the California roll!!! wth?! $50 paid excluding tip for delivery was over all worth $5. Ended up throwing away practically everything! Not sure if it's under new management, change of chef(s), or this place is just cutting corners now.

Got their sushi takeout, so the service was fine. However, the the sushi and the rolls were below average in terms of taste. In addition, the rolls were on the small side. My lesson with Ginza, you get what you pay for. Better off paying a little more across the street at Jpan for decent sushi.

Love their fried rice! I lived on the same block as this place for about a year and had to limit myself to only going once a month because I would have gone ALL. THE. TIME otherwise. Kevin is a great hibachi chef. We always looked forward to seeing if we'd get him as ours! The sushi was pretty good. My main recommendation would be to sit at the hibachi table and order from the hibachi menu. We were put at a side table when they were too full and we didn't want to wait, and the food wasn't as delicious as when they make it right in front of you.

This place permanently offers 50% off sushi which 50% intrigues and 50% terrifies me. Though I want to claim that I eat only the finest raw fish...my poor ass sometimes stops in for an order or spicy tuna and eel avocado to go. The rolls, though nothing special, are solid and worth the $3 they cost each.

Here's what I'm gathering from the majority of the reviews: sushi - not so great. Hibachi - so. Much. Freaking. Fun. As you might have guessed from my four stars, I had the pleasure of ordering hibachi. We seriously had a blast. I can't say enough good things and I wish I remembered our chef's name. We were a party of five with two wee ones and they thought the whole spectacle was riveting and hilarious. Of course the big kids' favorite part was when he shot sake in our mouths... On THAT note, we couldn't believe how affordable the beer and sake was. Food was delicious (the fried rice was seriously addictive) and the chef was entertaining and obscenely talented. Can't complain. Never ever assume you're too old to giggle uncontrollably when your hibachi chef makes an onion volcano or a Spongebob Ricepants or says, "Mmm...chicken. Meow meow."

They overcharged my credit card, refused to talk to me when I tried to sort it out. Any business that steals $60 bucks at the first opportunity is worth avoiding. If they are doing this to customers who knows what other corners they are cutting. I went there with a group and the sushi was what you'd expect, we agreed to split the bill 3 ways using our credit cards. They returned the slips and I signed mine. We hung out at the table a bit more and I realized that I had been charged for 100% of the bill, my friends has been charged for their portions. I asked them to issue me a refund, since my friends has already paid for my portion and they ran my card again and had me resign the paper. When I got my credit card statement I saw that I had been charged the full amount. They kept the signed sheet- I tried to fight the claim but they submitted the sheet- I was able to have the second charge removed but not the first. My credit card company suggested that I go there and I did, they wouldn't talk to me and insisted that the manger wasn't there and pretended not the speak english.
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

(1)Michael K.

The hibachi here is fun. Especially got kids! Food is not bad either...50% off rolls!

(4)Mr M.

(3)Linh N.
To be honest, we came in because everywhere else was packed. Didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Sushi was pretty good. Hibachi looks great but we only had sushi. Regular sushi rolls are all half off and special rolls are b2g1.
(4)Vanity R.
I don't know what's peoples deal cause this place is great. I've ordered from here a few times and the delivery was fast and friendly. The times I have called they have been super nice. And 18% gratuity isn't such a big deal ... stop being so cheap!
(4)Stan L.
this review is for food delivery.. since it was raining.. my buddies and i decided to order in.. i got an order of soba noodles.. my buddies got some rolls and some other rice dish.. the food came promptly.. my soba was a but mealy.. and the broth is one-note.. and that one note is pretty nasty.. thankfully the weather got better during my visit to nyc
(2)Portia J.
(4)Ruby S.
(1)Mia M.
(4)Iddi C.
Started as a good night out. Hibachi man was entertaining. The bill had a built in gratuity of 18% waitress was young unpleasant and rude. Less, then a,minute, after paying bill spotted a roach on the table. Waitress, did nothing. Never going back
(2)Nia S.
(1)Rosie K.
(2)Anna S.
(1)Jingxin C.
Hibachi was good the chef was amazing to watch, but the sushi just So so,
(3)Minto S.
(3)Tonianne D.
Nah, dude.
(2)Mordicai C.
(4)Josephine D.
The hibachi Chef was extremely talented and food was delicious. The service of the waitress left a lot to be desired. I would go the distance for arrirang in bay ridge.
(2)Sarah B.
(1)Claire C.
(1)Mike P.
(1)Anne C.

(2)Jess Z.
(1)Jenna R.
Terrible service. "You know what you want?" is NOT how you take someone's order. And the sushi rolls were just sloppy. There was spicy salmon all over the place. Never going there again.
(1)Joyce L.

(3)Ajda S.
I stopped in here late just for a simple garden salad and some green tea ice cream. Both were amazing! They use *the* best mango/ginger dressing I've ever had with really good greens, and the green tea ice cream was the best I've ever had. Great prices and nice staff, too.
(4)Steve Q.
GREAT sushi and even better prices. the business lunch can't be beat (2 rolls + soup or salad for $7. 3 rolls + soup or salad for $10). great service as well. very friendly staff.

Meh. Go to Jpan instead.

(4)John Z.
(1)Marlyn A.
It's an okay restaurant especially if you don't want to wait around and the food (alotttt). My daughter love's it!!!
(4)Kashon D.

(5)Kelvin N.

(4)Captain G.
It's a sushi + hibachi place. Only had sushi there. Fish, shrimp, etc. aren't too fresh. No toro either. It's quite cheap compared to other sushi places. Go down the block to Blue Ribbon for better sushi but it will be more expensive thought.
(2)laura l.
(4)Mike A.
(2)Ashley S.
(5)Eric I.
Probably one of the best places for sushi that I've had in brooklyn. Very fresh fish and a good assortment of vegetarian rolls as well.
(4)D M.
best sushi in the slope. Fast Delivery. Good Service, Great Rolls. i could eat there every day. try the "Joy Roll" (nightly special)
(5)Y F.
(4)Sazea B.
(4)Alison K.
(4)Brigitte T.
(3)Irene F.
(3)Vito V.
the hibachi was good and the chef was amazing to watch. definitely a great place to eat
(4)Allison G.
(4)Gentry W.
(5)grace g.
they have mango rolls! yum! and decent lunch specials! their shrimp tempura roll is special cuz it has fish eggs. most anything they make is a bit more special than what I can ever attempt at home. and nice hibachi! unfortunately they need atleast 2 ordering hibachi for them to put on a show for you...otherwise your hibachi gets cooked in the backroom. so we joined some strangers table and watched from there. the chef was way cool. nice onion volcano, etc.,.
(4)Phillip L.
(3)SID D.
Helooooo Hibachi! I've developed a habit of ordering the filet mignon hibachi via delivery every couple weeks. It's to die for tasty!
(5)Becca H.
(3)sveta k.
this is a hibachi/sushi place, i've never had hibachi here, so hibachi fans please go and eat for your selves, but i love the sushi, the sashimi pieces are very generous and always fresh, they have great deals for lunch, i've never been disappointed, and when you order delivery they are prompt and haven't gotten an order wrong yet. i love them. ginza--i love you :)
(4)shaena f.
(5)Tiki B.
(2)Michelle T.
(3)vicki M.
if you live in carroll gardens/red hook and osaka won't deliver to you, order from here. they deliver late and the food is yum.
(4)Merisa B.
This place is great, the sushi is the best I've had and I am very picky. You should most definitely go to this place is you want fresh and great tasting sushi!
(5)Ian A.
I would never eat sushi here, but it is a fun place to go for hibachi. The chefs are talented and have great showmanship. It is a fun evening and one worth doing every once in a while.
(3)Jonathan C.
The hibachi was decent (I had the steak and scallop) but needed a bit more flavor, something to add a kick. The lighting is super dark for some reason.
(3)Laureen P.

(1)Michelle M.
(1)Peter D.
(4)Imari C.
(4)Alice R.
Stopped in for a snack and the rolls were so good it turned into a meal! The rolls are super yummy and only cost two bucks!! The spicy rolls are great and they also have really good ginger. Went in with a hangover and left feeling totally cured! :) plus the staff is super friendly and nice. YUM
(5)Justin S.
Ordered delivery. Two hours late and the food was cold (it was not supposed to be).
(1)Sara L.
I used to eat here every week for $2.50 sushi rolls! I thought I had a gem. Then I learned why the sushi is so cheap.... And now I can't eat sushi anymore :/
(2)Rosemarie H.
(2)Marina S.
(1)Magda W.
It used to be an amazing half price sushi - very fresh and yummy, however they stopped doing the 50% off deal and now it is a full price sushi - which is not such a good deal anymore. Dissapointed.
(3)Mary H.

Terrible customer service. Delivery took almost 2 hours and little effort to expedite. Food was horrible - some of the worst sushi I've had in ny. Will never order from here again.

I was in the mood for some neighborhood Japanese chicken teriyaki, hence this local spot, Ginza. Seating was readily available. The staff seemed attentive and friendly at first, but plummeted afterwards. The first waitress asked if we were ready to order within 5 minutes of seating. That was little too quick, due to the fact that the menu was type long. Then a different waitress approached the table, and asked if we were ready to order. So we ordered miso soup. After finishing the soup, I had to make gestures to get one of the waitresses attention. She then noticed me and ordered I was ready to order my entrée. The chicken teriyaki was delish, a tat bit on the salty side, but very savory. Since the high sodium content, I needed to quench my thirst, I ordered water with a lemon wedge in it. Sadly, the lemon wedge came garnished on the rim of the glass. LOL! The service here was like a clapper machine, on and off. Too many waitresses attending our table, thus creates an atmosphere of confusion. Water should be the first thing at your guess tables, or green tea, or dim sum, etc. So I'm given it a 3 star.

(4)Jillian H.
