I can't stand this place. It's in my neighborhood and I'm West Indian so I gave it a try. The food is boring. They need to learn big peppers and onions do not equal big flavors. Instead of getting more noodles or rice I feel like I'm just getting large pieces of bell peppers. You're better off not going here for West Indian good it'll detour your entire experience and make you never want to try any Guyanese good ever. Plus they're expensive, for such a little amount. Their rice is always hard and you can't ever heat it back up it dries out so quickly. There's nothing but drunks in there. You feel uncomfortable walking in there. In addition the must is super loud. Like it's 2pm in a Wednesday, why is the music blasting? There's also men who stand outside just to check girls out, another reason to feel uncomfortable. And these men are old. The workers there stand outside with them and don't even tell them anything. Just never go here.

I can't with this place. When they first opened I was excited because queens village definitely needed some good West Indian food in the area. I would always order the house special fry rice and occasionally grab some drinks. It wasn't the best but it did the job. NOW you are lucky that you don't break your teeth on their bland hard rice that you can't even mask with some pepper sauce because according to their staff "pepper sauce is very expensive to make if you want extra you need to pay". First off, your pepper is mostly vinegar. Soooo 3 orders of fry rice=1 pepper sauce? ANYWAY on my last visit to Windies we had a tab running and thank god we double checked our receipt because the waitress added 2 shots that we never had to our bill. Extra tip? Here's a tip....go to Hibiscus!

Always a long wait, food isn't that great and the price isn't worth it a lot of people go there for the bar I wouldn't go for the food.

This restaurant picked a great location since in the area there are not many West Indian Restaurants. I am partial in that the food is good, as long as your not thinking about what could be happening behind closed doors. You'd be right on if you said that I don't have a lot of faith in them. I completely dislike how loud the music is and how irritable it is to try and carry on a dinner table conversation screaming at one another. They really should have a partition that can isolate the dining area away from the bar section. The one time I came just for drinks, I had to scream over the music to get the waitresses attention for her to ask me what I wanted from behind the bar. I've attempted many times to give this place a try but I feel it is definitely suited for an older crowd (mainly men) who are ready to drink (on a workday) and who's goal is to get way from their wives. THE END

Good West Indian Chinese food . The fired rice and the chow mien is on point. So if your ever in jam rock come by with some Guap.

Perhaps my favorite thing about returning visits to NY is getting access to delicious West Indian food. And, Windies is the perfect solution to cure my withdrawal symptoms from Guyanese cuisine. Windies may look like ordinary on the outside, but the food is anything but. The menu is standard for West Indian, but among my favorites are jerk chicken fried rice (good amount of spice, large portions enough for two people), calamari (comes out with bell peppers that add flavor), black pudding (a Guyanese staple), and fried shark (yes, shark!). And, for the true West Indians, there's plenty of "peppa" sauce on the table to make you feel at home. If you're not in the mood for food, Windies is also a great place to grab a drink. There's a full service bar that even serves West Indian rums. And, you'll be able to catch up on all your cricket highlights from one of the multiple TVs. This place does it right, and is worth the visit. Be sure to chum it up with the owner, he's a really fun guy that enjoys getting to know his patrons.

I ordered the oxtails with rice and the chicken fried rice. It was really good and came out super fast. I will definitely order from this place again.

Please BE AWARE! Unfair billing practices . Double billed for beers which my friend had paid for a half hour before. Good food and service but triple check your bill. Been double billed several times every time I was served my head waitress but I was to inebriated to notice the discrepancy !

Found black pot scrapings inside the jerk chicken fried rice and my wife found a mosquito in the chicken low mein. We felt like throwing up. My mother in law actually did. Beware of eating from here.

The food is good ! The service was great but BE AWARE!!!! My friends and I have been doubled billed on more than one occasion. I paid for the first round, my friend payed for the second round and our third friend who was a little more than drunk than the rest of the pack was charged for the portion that was already paid for. The head waitress is highly suspect and buyer be aware!!!!!! I do hope the better business bureau would pay this joint a well deserved visit:-(

Came here with a friend after school for some drinks and food. Upon entering, the decor was very nice. Dimly lit with lots of colorful lights everywhere. The bartender was our waitress because it was very dead in there. She was nice . We were the only seated customers. Everyone else was at the bar drinking their sorrows away. I ordered a shot of tequila . Idk what kind of tequila it was , but it was strong. I ordered some stew chicken and rice and peas. My friend had the oxtail. The chicken and oxtail were horrible. Not what we were expecting at all. My friend and I are Jamaican , so I guess we were used to it being cooked a certain way. Im going to take a guess and say the cook was Trinidadian , because they were playing a lot of Soca music. The rice and peas was amazing ! That was the only good thing about the meal. Will not be returning.

The first few times I ordered from here, the food was good. It was cooked well and flavorful. This last time I ordered from here, the jerk chicken fried rice had a piece of black pot scraping inside. It was a big piece. Goes to show these people don't clean their pots and pans properly, if at all. The chicken low mein had no flavor and to top it off, I found a dead mosquito mixed in. It wasn't like it had died and fell in there, it was cooked in with the sauce and everything. YUCK! The fried calamari was soggy and they only gave a few pieces and filled the rest of the dish up with peppers and lemon. I was really hoping this place wouldn't let me down but unfortunately it has, just like the rest of the West Indian restaurants out there. I should of known it was too good to be true that I could find good West Indian food so close to home. But dead mosquitos and black pot scrapings? Really????? Now who would be responsible if my family or I get sick from this????? Absolutely disgusting and dirty!!!!!! This place needs to clean their kitchen out and hire a new chef! I won't order from here ever again.

I live right around the corner, my boyfriend and I go at least once a month grab a few drinks and apps and maybe dinner to go. The menu is extensive...everything is good....especially their shrimp! Pepper sauce is on point! The owner is always welcoming and the bartenders are attentive. Great place that has good food and good drinks!

Now you talk about a diamond in the rough??? This place is great! My friend has been telling me to go to this place for years for they're fried rice and I finally made it there a week ago. So I walked in there, atmosphere was surprisingly warm and roomy. Not one of those tiny, dives you usually find hidden on Jamaican Ave. A really nice sized bar, dining area and cool looking people at the bar, of which I shared a few drinks with while I waited for my order. A beer or two later and my food was ready to roll. However, I wasn't. I ended up having a few more beers and chatting it up with the owner/manager about the menu and the music he was playing. All I can say is, when I left, I thought to myself...'Self?...you have to make that a weekly stop on the way home from work' I had a nice, relaxed time...and not to mention the bartender and the 'regulars' were really nice and friendly. When I reached home, I laid out my spread and went to town...the food was delish! Sort of like West Indian, Chinese and Indian all in one. Thank you! Now for any of you who don't like spicy food, def don't put the red sauce on it that comes with your meal or you'll be crying all night (and possible in the mornin'). Besides that, I strongly suggest the jerk chicken fried rice and the Roti / Chick Pea dish...Incredible! Thanks J! For the suggestion...
