Hidden gem in a small plaza in Penfield. They hit the trifecta - very good food at reasonable prices and very good service!

Went here for our anniversary! The service was outstanding! We ordered drinks before sitting down and they just added it to our food bill. We ordered an outstanding appetizer which was tasty and very fresh. The dinners were great! They had daily specials which sounded awesome! We both had a fish dish which was great! I highly recommend this restaurant!

even though this restaurant is in a strip mall next to a laundromat ad a dog groomer, you really need to try it. I have been several times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. In fact the food is really really good. It is a bit pricy but worth it.

This place is was such an amazing surprise. My wife and I were out at Home Depot with our son. We were planning on going back to Webster to eat but decided to pull up yelp and see if there was anything in the area that caught the eye. Michaels Valley Grill popped up and the reviews were positive. I gave them a call to see if we could be seated, it was 5:20 on a Friday so I knew the chances were slim. Hostess said they she could if we could be there by 5:30. We were then in minutes and this place just continued to impress and surprise. Michaels Valley Grill in in this little strip mall but the outside is very cute but the inside decor blew us away. It was so cute and friendly. Tons of natural light and the staff was super friendly when we walked in. My wife started wit ha house salad and I had a cup of clam chowder. It was amazing. My wife's main course was the panko crusted Romano and mine was a special, fillet with three grilled stuffed shrimp and a side. Both were amazing. This place was a total last minute spur of the moment decision. We had no clue this place existed but now that we know it does it will be on our regular rotation for date night. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This restaurant has an authentic old school Italian restaurant - down to the curtained windows. Had the bang bang shrimp which was good and then chicken piccata for the entree. The entree was ok - I had hoped to get my socks blown off! The dinner crowd is definitely older, but the wait staff is young. Ok experience. Would give it another chance and hope to give it 4 stars.

We met a couple of friends at Michael's Valley Grill on a Friday night. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated around 7:40. Not bad as it gave us time to chat at the bar. My wife and I had dined here years ago and from what I recall we enjoyed our meals. I'm happy to report this place is still very good. We started with a couple of appetizers, the arancini and the fried calamari. Both were excellent. I ordered a scallop special which was delicious. My wife ordered a rare Kobe burger and it was cooked perfectly. The only thing about the burger she didn't like was that it had iceberg lettuce on it. Overall, everyone loved their food and we really enjoyed ourselves. The service was exceptional. This place is located in a tiny strip mall. Don't be out off by this as the dining room is beautiful. It's a great room and a great restaurant, especially to dine with friends. I would gladly recommend Michaels to my friends and family.

Stopped for dinner, we would highly recommend the place, we sat outside listening to music on a Saturday night, I had the chicken French which was outstanding , my beautiful gf had the bang bang shrimp with the grilled romaine salad which she said was fantastic service was very good and staff very friendly, come you will enjoy

Seated immediately! Nice atmosphere, not to bright but just enough to capture smiling faces. Had the Chicken French and the Gorgonzola Filet. All cooked to perfection. It's nice, but it is not Sinatra's. They were so nice and part of me feels awkward saying it, but the facts are what this is all about. A little price heavy.

We recently moved to Penfield, & we had never been to this place but had heard good things. So we decided to go there for my 60th birthday. We're pretty casual & like to meet new people, so we wanted to eat at the bar. It was full when we got there, so we ordered beers & soon a couple seats opened up. We sat next to a very pleasant man & had wonderful conversation. JT was our congenial bartender. I took notice of the decor since I'm an Interior Designer & complimented the man seating people, who turned out to be Michael himself. He said it had recently been remodeled & it has been done to perfection, down to the napkins, I must say...& I'm usually very critical of interiors. I ordered the Charred Calamari for an appetizer & my hubs ordered the garlic soup. The calamari is the REAL DEAL folks. It was THE BEST I have EVER had. Creepy, but awesome!!! I ordered the MahiMahi & potatoes for dinner & the hubs odered steak, rare. Now, not many people can do a rare steak well, but this was perfection. Every bite for both of us was delicious. Then I was surprised by a plate of tiny donuts with a candle in it!!! These little tidbits are bite size, warm, fresh, & absolutely heaven!!! By the way, Adam was our server who was a delight, even though he's just a newbie (over a decade there ) ;) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE & we will definitely be back for more!!!

After passing by this place for years, we finally decided to try it last night. Being a friday, my partner ordered a fish fry, while I tried to find something vegetarian on the menu. Note to vegetarians: there ain't much you'll find here. This is a meat and fish place. Finally, I decided on a chipotle pasta dish with chicken, figuring that there probably wouldn't be a huge amount of protein in that dish (unlike nearly every other dish on the menu). When the dishes came, my partner's 'traditional' fish fry was coated in a very NON-traditional panko breadcrumb coating, but was otherwise decent and tasty. His side of pasta was rather bland, though. My pasta dish, OTOH, was a jarring combination of too-spicy chipotle seasoning liberally sprinkled over a cream sauce, that sat in my stomach like hot lava for the next several hours. It's been YEARS since I've had indigestion and heartburn like this! Even 16 hours later (after a night of fitful sleep and heartburn), my stomach is STILL churning. I would suggest all but those with a cast-iron stomach AVOID this dish at all cost. I would also suggest that the chef learn a little restraint when pairing spices and sauces like these. The service was excellent, and the cocktails were likewise good. The bar seems to attract the middle-to-older set (probably after golfing), and the drumkit set up in the front makes me believe that live music is a draw for the later evening crowd. Still, for $80 for 2 people, I was a bit disappointed by the food.

So my wife says, "you have a happy hour?" and the hostess says, "it ends in 4 minutes".....but this is Rochester so she adds, "let me get a waiter right over so you can order".....so Adam lets us order two (2) twofers, because we can't decide between the Mark West pinot noir and the Sanoma cabernet. Both were delicious, and both were on our bill as half-price We're seated in the bar area on a Thursday night, and they have jazz; in fact, a tremendous keyboardist, singer and percussionist, who are seriously good. Steak salad, perfect; zeppole for desert, fantastic. Chicken french, very good. Attentive staff, water glass and bread basket never empty, It is hidden in a strip mall that you could easily miss, but you'll be glad you didn't

Been here a few times and must say food is consistent. Started with Bang Bang shrimp, excellent. Had the double cut pork chop while my wife had a chicken dish with a lemon sauce. Both meals came with broccoli that was heavy on the garlic. As always the service was very good and the wine list ok. Would probably go more often if the menu would change, plus it is a little on the pricy side. Except for specials it has pretty much stayed the same for quite awhile. I gave it a 3 but it is more like a 3.5

For all you out of towners, please don't leave the Rochester area without stopping by for dinner at Michaels Valley Grill in Penfield. Tucked in a quaint shopping area on Penfield Road, Michaels is by far one of the best Restaurants we have in the Rochester area. Our entire family has enjoyed a unique dining experience there for over 25 years. The food is fabulous and varied, service always suburb and atmosphere homey and warm. Michaels has been owned by the same family for over 25 years and is solidily consistant in every way. It's always a pleasure to be warmly greeted upon arrival and know that they go out of their way to make your dining experience perfect in every way. We always look forward to our next night out at Michael's. Don't miss the opportunity.

That was a HUGE surprise - probably the most delicious halibut I have ever had - and not cheap, either. My friend had double pork chop - it was on the menu, halibut was a Special. Out of this world. AND roasted romaine lettuce - yummy!

The pork tenderloin was off the chart! Enjoyed an excellent dinner in this quiet restaurant.

Dined here this past Saturday night. Great meal, and we look forward to returning. This place is located in a small strip mail, enhanced with inviting touches: striped black and white awnings, bistro seating and plants at the entrance. The front door brings you into the bar area, clubby and comfortable, where a jazz duo (keyboards, drums and an amazingly good vocalist) provided background music, at at a perfect sound level so as not to interfere with conversation in the lounge or the adjoining dining room. On this particular warm evening, French doors along the bar area brought the music of the jazz duo to the front entrance patio area (which would be a good place for drinks & appetizers, or an after-dinner drink). The dining room is also clubby and comfortable, with tasteful, upscale touches: dining alcoves along two walls and built-in bookcases along another wall. Divisions throughout the dining room ensure privacy. We were greeted warmly by the Maitre d' and shown to our table where a personable waitress took over. She adeptly handled our party of ten people and graciously accommodated our request for separate checks. I enjoyed a glass of house Chardonnay, the house salad with homemade balsamic and crumbly bleu cheese, and the chicken piccata over sauteed escarole and choice of side, mashed potatoes. I would have liked a few more briny capers and more lemon in my piccata, but all in all, a very good meal. For dessert, I chose the zeppole, ten small fried doughnut-like confections, which arrived hot from the fryer, tossed in cinnamon sugar. Amazingly delicious and surprisingly light. I'd recommend Michael's Valley Grill to anyone who is looking for a great meal in a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere. Reasonable prices make this a good destination for a weekday meal, not just special occasions.

This restaurant is in an unassuming plaza in Penfield. You could drive right by without noticing. They have fantastic food and their wine list is pretty good as well. Their house shrimp appetizer is fantastic and each of our entrees were cooked very well. Their outside seating area is nice and lends to a relaxed atmosphere. Wait staff is attentive but not overly so; we commented on how good of a waiter we had while we were eating. We were pleasantly surprised at what great food this place had. The bar is very cozy as well, however the crowd at the bar, at least on the day we were there (Monday) was 40-50 year old crowd.
