Stopped here for lunch with my parents in a trip home from NYC. Excellent food and service, I highly recommend this place! We had the shrimp po boy, chicken club, and Greek salad and all were fresh and delicious. Loved it!

The best restaurant in town! Or I should say the only one. Service and the food were just awesome! If you decide to visit this town in the middle of nowhere'

What a find! After days in small towns eating bad food it was great to finally find a dinner restaurant serving something other than hamburgers/meat loaf/etc. We started with the really yummy Brie appetizer, and then I had the seafood pasta - everything was perfectly cooked and tasted awesome. Our server was great also, always present when needed, quick to get us things we requested, etc. If you're nearby, or even if you're not, this is well worth a visit.

Going to school at Fredonia is very hard because there are little to none good restaurants around. I found this place on yelp, and decided to go with a friend last night. The ambience was pretty nice, they had 2 musicians playing music, I'm not sure if that's a everyday thing though. Our server was great, and very attentive. We ordered the squid ink pasta with seafood, and the NY strip. I added pasta to it, which was customized to my preference, and I added shrimp as well. I ordered the creme brulée for dessert. The meal was delicious, and I'll definitely be coming back!

I had the best meal I've ever had here! The chefs are amazing!!! Service was pretty good and the ambiance was nice. It's almost worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from my place just to go there for dinner one night. It's that good!

My wife and I ate at the brick room over Xmas (2013) and we're extremely pleased with our experience. This is fine dining in small town America. I had the pork chop, which by far, was the best pork chop I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection, and sat on top a wonderful caramelized apple purée. The two together in one bite were amazing. The oy critique for the dish was the corn bread. It was served a little burnt, and was very heavy. Having lived in the south for 10 years, I've learned to be a bit picky with corn bread. There is room for growth here. If you are in fredonia, you would be foolish not to check out the brick room.

We were passing through and found this gem on yelp. The decor is comforting and the service right on. I had a special- the lobster boil. It was served with mussels and shrimp with red potatoes and spinach and bread. The flavor of the seafood broth really came through. My husband loved his duck with homemade gnocchi. A nice small wine selection, too.

Maybe I've been spoiled by other places in the US, but this place just doesn't get the marks from me. The food selections I've had were nothing out of this world and yet the prices are maybe from Mars! The staff wasn't as friendly as I had expected from one of the highest priced places in town and it just lacked the ambiance one expects from the "word around" town. We gave it a second shot and won't be going back for a third. Maybe it's a local favorite because of a different reason then the food and the price. Sometimes it's more about who you know then what you serve! At any rate - this couple won't be returning to the table!

Unassuming exterior with an intimate upscale interior, it has an imaginative menu. Suggest reservations. Reasonable selection of wines, beers and cocktails. No children's menu, but they can accommodate some meal options for children, as well as use the kitchen from the bar next door. Server was very knowledgeable and professional - excellent overall. Rated 4 stars for wonderful menu and service.

Where does a person eat when driving through Fredonia? I mean there are the usual chain (as in bad) restaurants.... "Arby's", "McDonalds", "Applebees". But I wanted something GOOD. Lucky for me the "Yelp" app is loaded right onto my phone and I am able to do a quick search for restaurants in my area. "Brick Room" came up and I decided to check it out. From the outside it doesn't look all that special. It's located right next to a (divey looking) bar... I think they may have the same owners because they share a bathroom in a common hallway. Inside, however, it's lovely. Understated, warm, and pretty. Artwork by local artists (I think) decorates the walls A nice touch! The service is friendly and the menu has many choices and features the usage of local, seasonal ingredients. Gotta love that! Bread was brought to the table along with a little bowl of garlic olive oil. Whole cloves were in that oil and it was mighty tasty. But the bread was a disappointment. The texture was very odd and it just kind of disintegrated upon breaking. Like seriously... it returned to it's floury roots. I ordered a Caesar salad as a starter and it was quite good. Lots (and lots) of very fresh romaine lettuce, homemade (I think) croutons, an ample amount of freshly shredded Parmesan cheese, and a nice (kind of light) dressing. For my entree I chose the "Chicken and Dumplings". It was supposed to have a Frenched chicken breast, but I requested that the wing portion be removed (no bones for me!) and it was. I was a bit disturbed to see the skin remaining, but hey... that's just me. It had lots of carrots, celery, onion, and garlic in a almost soup like sauce.... and it was supposed to have house made DUMPLINGS... but those were NOT dumplings. They were mini biscuits. Tasty in the sauce, but like the bread.... quite dry. For dessert I chose the lemon cake with fresh berries. It was lovely to look at placed artfully atop creme fresh and topped with real (!!!) whipped cream and lovely strawberries and blueberries. But, alas... the cake was very dry as well. Maybe the oven is too hot... or maybe the baker needs to use a bit more butter in the recipes. They have great potential.

Visited with my wife and kids, dropping one of them off for college. We had a really nice meal. One of us had a steak and twice cooked potato, it was delicious. I ordered the chicken breast. Ordinarily, I would never order boneless breast as it comes out too dry. Their's was delicious, seasoned perfectly and accompanied by seasonal vegetables. Duck breast was tasty, not enough crisp in the skin though. Scallops were great. Only criticism was the service. The waiter was friendly but never checked on us throughout the meal, we had to hunt him down for drinks. He attempted to clear plates while we were still eating and was ready with the check while we were on our main course. Maybe the poor service was aberrational, I would still return as the food was great.

It almost doesn't make any sense that a restaurant this good is in a town as small as Fredonia. Brick Room is in a league of it's own. Being from San Francisco, I'm a bit spoiled in the eating out department. This is a city-caliber restaurant in a small, relatively rural town. By far the best food in the area. The wine selection is small, but expertly chosen. The tomato and mozzarella stack appetizer is always one of the highlights for me. Tip: Make reservations, as it's a pretty small place. I recently showed up at 6:30 on a Monday, and wasn't able to get a table.

Better than you'd expect! Lucky to have a restaurant of this quality in a small town. Understated, relaxed, and subtly sophisticated. Food is freshly prepared in the open kitchen. All dishes of excellent quality, most with locally grown produce and creative sauces and sides. The espresso creme brûlée is my favorite ending to a consistently delicious meal.

I was visiting Fredonia/Dunkirk and the local possibilities for dinner seemed, well, lacking, except for this place and the brewpub across the street, which was closed for the week. My first night there, I drove 3 miles from my hotel in Dunkirk to find a Subway... The Brick Room was a wonderful surprise; the food was fresh, prepared in interesting ways without being fussy, and I had two very tasty meals in two days: a cajun catfish special over risotto, and a creamy chicken and rice soup with an appetizer of scallops over spaetzle and bacon. Delicious food, pleasant, warm and inviting space and good service. Check it out!

What a great restaurant! We decided to stop on our way across country in Dunkirk and went looking on Yelp (as usual) for sone place to eat. This restaurant came up, sounded good for the most part, so we decided to give it a shot. It was a wonderful find! Everything we had was awesome. We were seated quickly, and our waiter was immediate in getting our drink orders, etc. We decided to get several appetizers to share, including the tuna tartar (awesome!), flatbread, basil scallops (stupendous!!), and the caprese ravioli (perfect!). The wines went well with the appetizers, the bread was warm, fresh and perfect in texture and consistency. Then came the entrees... OMG, some of the best fresh preparations I have had anywhere in the world. I had seared duck breast on a pea, ham and onion risotto (no kidding!). It was delicious and perfect in prep, portion and temperature. Several of the others got the crab cakes, and they were so good both diners refused to share! One of the others got the prosciutto wrapped halibut, and kept moaning distractingly. The final member of our party got the shrimp pasta dish and was thrilled with the flavor, doneness and presentation. Everything was stupendous, and we certainly did not need more food, but we ordered desserts anyway. We tried the carrot cake, creme brûlée, lemon fluff, port du creme, and flourless chocolate cake. ALL of them were flawless. We made sure to personally thank the chef for a wonderful meal and to tell them that we will stop in the future in the area, JUST to dine with them again. This was a wonderful surprise, a perfect gem of a low key smaller place with awesome food!

Very inviting room, wonderful dining space... and extremely accommodating host, as a vegetarian I could find things easily that worked for me even though it wasn't on the menu. The bathroom is shared with the bar next door, so that was kinda ghetto, but it was clean. The food looked beautiful but I gotta say the taste was all butter and oil.. I had the black bean risotto which tasted of pure butter. Overall, I think the place was ok, not a big fan of the food though which was unfortunate...

The Brick Room has the best food in the area (most certainly the best food in Fredonia). There are so many fantastic dishes, it's hard to choose what to order, but the filet with the twice-baked potato is my favorite -- one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. Appetizers and wine selection are great, too, as is the service. It has a classy yet cozy ambiance. Five stars all around.

I know that sounds like hype. But I'm not in anyway affiliated with this great place -- and I've eaten in top restaurants all over the East, including New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington. This was the second time our family of five (parents and 3 college-age teens) has had dinner at Brick Room and all 10 meals have been excellent. The menu has a nice range to suit any taste. I had pork osso buco that was tender and fabulous. The fish, veal and lamb were also expertly done. One of the things that makes this place so worthy of praise is that the side dishes are NOT an afterthought -- they are as carefully prepared as the main courses. And you can freely substitute one for another with your dish. The service is usually excellent. It was slow our last visit because of an unanticipated dinner crowd the last night of college move-in weekend. If you're ever within 20 miles of this place, make sure you eat here!

The only disappointment was that we didn't find this place sooner!!!! On the last night of our visit, we were told to hit up this place and it was fantastic! The service was great, the food was wonderful and although they did not have the wines we wanted in stock, they made up for it with other mixers from their bar. Prices are in line with the quality and amount of food you get. The Beet Carpaccio was wonderful as was the lamb, and the surf & turf. Remember to save room for dessert! The ambiance was nice as well. Try it at least once, I am positive you will return. We know we will on our next visit! Thank you Brick Room!!!

Absolutely the best restaurant in Chautauqua County. The restaurant has A NYC feel and the menu is upscale and changes seasonally. Try the lamb...my favorite. The service is attentive and not over whelming and the bar prices are very reasonable.

Four of us, 2 from Cleveland, Ohio and 2 from Portland, Oregon ate here. It was a pleasant surprise in an area not noted for good restaurants. My nephew had a cast iron skillet with roasted garlic, homemade mozzerella, olives and red bell peppers. His main course was a delicious pork chop. My brother loved his veal chop. My wife and I shared our dishes - the "cast iron skillet", a nice raviolli and a perfectly cooked medium rare New York steak with beans and mashed potatoes. The creme brulee and tiramisu were good. We generally start with prosecco or champaign and end with an espresso. Unfortunately those are not offered here. Still, good food and service.

What a disappointment after 3 rave reviews. I ordered the veggie pasta and it was so bad, so bland, with a weird aftertaste, that I could only chug down 2 bites. All pasta, very few veggies. The server (also the owner) never came to our table to see if the meal was okay, and didn't flinch as she took away my full plate. I had a feeling she knew it was inedible, but they serve it anyway.
