good pizzas in those prices. actually for that price and location everything is just perfect. They are just slightly unclean.

99 cent express pizza was pretty good and is the closest 99 cent pizza joint to Times Square. No complaints about the actual pizza except for that it was a little greasy. I'm only giving it 3 stars though because not all of the pizzas are actually 99 cents; only the cheese one is. Sausage pizza is my favorite and it was $1.50 and I ordered that. The guy said that they were out of that and only had pepperoni and sausage. I said that was fine assuming that it'd still be $1.50 but when I paid, it was $2.50. Just be aware that unless you are looking specifically for cheese pizza, expect to pay more for other toppings (in my case 2.5x more).

There are a few places in town where you can find a plain slice for a buck, almost all of them pretty much taste the same with the over sized crust and all. This review is not for the plain slice, it's for the other options in the store. I've had the veggie slice, chicken slice and a few others from this place and they are really good for the price. They also have beef patties which are really good compared to beef patties at other places in town. Of you're in the mood for a quick slice or a beef patty, this is the place to go

Pretty standard pizza. For $1, it is hard to lose. I stopped in for one slice, paid my dollar, and waited a few minutes for it to come out of the oven. If you've had one Dollar-slice pizza place in the city, you've pretty much tried them all. It's not the best pizza, but clearly it's quantity over quality here, and the pizza is decent, to boot. Small place, gets kinda cramped when there's a lot of people waiting. Of course, if you want any toppings the price doubles, sometimes goes even higher. There is not too much to say about 99 Cent Express Pizza that isn't in the name. It's 99 cents, it's quick, it's pizza. Done and done.

Thought the pizza was great for the money. Way better than 2 bros pizza. Crust was crisp and the cheese was melty. There's a few places to stand outside the storefront.

Literally this place is across street from my job, so i come here very often just because i always need to grab something quick to eat. you can't beat this price here in the city where everything is overpriced. This place is a quick cheap place to get some decent pizza without breaking your pocket. Get a regular pie for $8 ... or even 2 slides and a soda for $2.75 seriously!!! The place is small, no chairs. The employees there are cool, I go in scary costumes all the time and they love it. Lol

99 Cent Express Pizza is exactly what it's called, 99 cent pizza. In the midst of all the other 99 cent pizza spots around the city, this place is no different. The slices are extremely thin, and it's lightly dashed with cheese and marinara sauce. If you're ordering pizza here, you're definitely foregoing quality in favor of value. However, sometimes that's exactly what I'm going for. I've ordered from here off of Seamless countless times and they deliver extremely quickly. A whole large pie is $8, and I can't say that I did not get my money's worth. Don't expect this pizza to change your life, but it definitely won't break your bank.

The name gives it all away. The pizza is cheap, hot & good. If you're in a rush and in need of a quick slice, this place is super quick and efficient. I came here at 10:00pm on a weekday with my roommate and he could not stop raving about this place. Check it out.

1:25am on a Thursday night. According to yelp, the place is closed. But then, a miracle occurs! Not only is this place open, but a cheese pizza comes out fresh from the oven. Yes. Yes, I would like a slice of that. Delicious. Crispy yet somewhat doughy crust. Delicious sauce. And of course scalding hot cheese. What's not to like?
(5)Boris B.
Quick, tasty, cheap. I was debating between going to Shake Shack and Chipotle during a lunch break. Was walking to Chipotle when saw this. Yelped it, saw 3 stars and was about to leave, but read into the reviews. I tend to pay attention to 4 and 2 star reviews as the most objective ones, and the 4 star ones convinced me to try the 99c express pizza. I ordered slice of chicken barbecue and pepperoni; together with a can of soda it came out under $5.50. Cheap. The slices came out about a minute later, not too hot (just how I like it). Most would like it hotter, but I liked the speed. Quick. The slices had the right amount of grease, dough and meats were good enough. Barbecue sauce nicely matched the chicken. Overall not bad. Tasty.

I'll be honest, this is the only 99 cent pizza I've tried in the city. The reason for this is because I have found this pizza to be SO DELICIOUS that I will not spend my 99cents anywhere else. For real. My friends and I have nicknamed this pizza "the real crack pie" (a nod to momofuku milk bar) and will not let a drunken night in New York city end without a delicious piece of this 99 cent cheese pizza in our hands. I'm going to be honest and say that coming from Los Angeles, my standards for pizza are not very high. I know that New York is famous for their pizza and so unless you are a tourist in the area, you have probably had some damn good pizza in your lifetime. However, I did make a stop at Prince Street Pizza this past trip and let me tell you.. I would rather have my 99 cent express cheese pizza (and save myself the extra $3).
(4)Matthew R.
Crappy $1 pizza with crappy delivery people and crappy customer service. I got the pizza and like half the cheese had migrated to one side, clearly the delivery guy had the pizza significantly slanted. I called the restaurant and was hung up on twice. There's plenty of $.99 pizza places around and most of them are better than this. I also ordered a beef patty which was dry and basically split open.
(2)Amanda S.
This is my favorite $0.99 pizza place. Let's face it, you aren't coming here to drop a lot of money for a gourmet pizza. With that in mind, it's unfair to compare it to Two Bros or other higher end places. The pizza is good, it's cheap, and this place is (usually) open 24 hours. What more could you want?! Things to keep in mind: 1. The only pizza that is actually $0.99 is the cheese. Everything else will run a little more, but you can still make out with 3 basic slices or 2 fancier slices for less than $5. 2. It's incredibly small, so unless the place is dead inside, take it to go and make sure to load up on the spices. 3. Garlic knots are 5 for $1, a little dry, but I bet are delish with a sauce. At 99 Cents Express, you get what you pay for. And in the city with a $300 burger, a dollar something pizza is the best deal you will find.
(5)Yan T.
I don't say this often, but this is pretty mediocre stuff. 99 cent pies are often mailed in, but the majority of places around the city put in a better effort. The near-Times Sq./Broadway location clearly removes any responsibility for quality. The cheese tasted plastic and the pie looked very amateurishly slapped together. It can rearlly only be justified if you're starving, and even then it's a bit disappointing. For an example of how to do a decent 99-cent pie, check out Arome Deli on W. 32nd St. The guys behind the counter are nice, though.
(2)Sean S.
I love how 99 cent pizza places are always right where you need them. I mean how sweet is that, you walk out of a show with a bunch of friends who've already eaten and are ready to get beers, and realize how you are starving cause you ran 9 miles that day. And there's the 99 cent pizza place right across the street. This is some sort of divine intervention or something. Plus in the time it takes my friends to decide which direction they're going, I've already managed to grab my two slices, pay and run back across the street. Nice!

There are tons of 99 cent pizza parlors throughout NYC, so if you don't like one, move on to the next. 99 Cents Express Pizza is one of these places that I recommend you keep on walking by. Their pizzas look fairly standard from afar, with a good amount of cheese and tomato sauce generously applied on top of the pizza pie. But upon first bite, you'll notice the dough is slightly chewy, and the tomato sauce tastes like it came out of a large can. The cheese is somewhat of a disappointment, as you can tell it is not very fresh and does not maintain that stringy gooeyness that good pizza is known for. The pepperoni slices are not that much better, with the only difference of several thin slices of pepperoni thrown on top. It does not really hold any interesting spices or flavors, making for a rather boring pepperoni slice. Delivery is also very odd here. If you order several pies, they are placed in a black garbage bag. The delivery guy hands you the big black garbage bag with pizza boxes inside, which doesn't exactly look or sound appetizing. We also found the top box in each bag of 6 pizzas, soggy and wet from all the heat condensation that had formed. Overall, 99 Cents Express Pizza does not warrant me to come back except for the fact that their plain slices are cheap, at only $1.00. But because $1.00 pizza slices have somewhat become the norm in this recession, I'd prefer to walk a couple blocks south and go to 2 Bros. for a much better $1.00 slice.

Can't beat the price and if you're on the go, it's a great place to stop and grab a bite.

99 cent pizza? Whatever, it's gonna be super cheap and gross. Wrong. I came here from Kansas (go ahead, laugh it up), a town that you could drive through in about fifteen minutes or less. I was staying in the Boston area and took the Amtrak from there to NYC to see an old camp counselor from 8 years ago. She's now working at the theater next door, and she recommended that I get a slice there. I'm a vegetarian and wanted something other than cheese, so I got mushroom which was $1.50. Still thought it was going to be gross because it was so cheap. So wrong. I had time to kill before going to see Avenue Q (hell yes, middle and five rows back!), so I popped in. Got my slice (which was HUGE), and went outside to eat. It's kind of awkward because you have to stand outside since there really isn't any inside seating (there is a strange counter space against the window inside, but no seats). I guess that's common NYC though because of all of the street vendors. Even though, it was delicious. I've tried plenty of different pizza places in my life, but this was amazing. Perfect amount of cheese and toppings, melted just right. Nom.

Stopped by here before going to a Broadway show with 30 minutes available to eat. This place did the trick with its chicken slice and its fresh pepper slice, and kept me full for the rest of the show. Both slices were great. Inside the actual store is burning hot because it's pretty small and there are a lot of ovens. They have a stand outside where you can eat. For $1.50 a slice, I was impressed and would return.

UPDATE: Something happened. The pizza is once again decent. Ingredients have changed. I'm tempted to provide a 3rd star for the "White Pizza" alone, but then again, the broccoli slice takes it down a notch. Still perfectly suitable if you are RIGHT THERE and need a bite. -------------- I used to affectionally refer to this local spot a "Bug Pizza" - no reason in particular, but it was decent. Then, about 3 weeks ago, the 24-hour/7 days-a-week shop closed, just for 2 days. When it re-opened: Terrible. Less cheese, terrible dough, plain, booring sauce. What the hell happened. Used to be a 3-4 star (for being generous due to extreme value), but now it is squarely a dud. 1 star. I'd give it less if it were possible, but then again, the guys that work there are always very friendly. Let's hope for better days, Bug Pizza, I'd gladly pay 1.25 for a proper "cheap slice".
(2)Chris L.
Can I give a minus...horrible service, says 24 hrs open, there around 145am, guy w mop in hand says we are closed. I said pretty funny when you have a guy at counter doing nothing and smiling at me. I said 5 bucks for any two slices I see from here, says closed get out you can't come in. Adios, never again. 42nd n 9th much better options even bread factory 43rd n 9th. Don't give in n save your dollar they aren't worth it
(1)Tony L.
$2.75 for lunch = you get what you pay for This pizza isn't great...but it isn't bad. Thin crust, made fresh (with ingredients from who knows where) and ready in a flash. It's closer for me than having to go to 9th Ave or down a few blocks on 8th. They're open 24 hours, have a credit card minimum of $5.00 (which is actually hard to reach) and seem to be a little cleaner than other 99 cent pizza joints...but that could very well fade in time.
(3)Andrew C.
Two bros has competition. I say that because many have tried to do the $1 slice, but have failed to match the quality of two bros pizza. This place matches it and might just pass it. That broccoli slice was beyond belief, it was worth about 2.75, and it was only $1.50. They need more locations.
(4)Eliza M.
There's a pizza joint up the block that charges a cool 3 bucks for a slice similar to what's offered here. Take this place for what it is - an incredibly cheap lunch/snack option in an otherwise expensive city. This pizza joint serves as a quick hunger extinguisher, a lunch budget regulator, an easy breezy small slice that is fast and cheap. Standing room only, throw in a few more dollars and cents and you have yourself some toppings. This spot won't be getting any zagat ratings anytime soon, but that's okay! Not the best slice in the city, and yet it serves it's purpose. Can't ask for much more.

I ordered some Artichoke Pizza through Seamless. When the delivery man arrived, he had chicken pizza. I called to straighten up the mix up, and they told me I ordered Chicken OR Artichoke pizza (they get to choose?). They said they didn't even have artichoke pizza. My order clearly stated Artichoke, but they refused to refund or correct my order. Thankfully I ordered through "Seamless", and they were able to quickly refund the order for me. Seamless customer service is the best. I would not recommend ordering from here.

I saw this place after before a Broadway show. Didn't have high expectations; but for $1.50 got a pepperoni slice; that blew away any high priced pizza. It was a hot humid day; but these guys were great and I really appreciated it.
(4)Sama A.
Ordered a chicken pizza pie through seamless web today. It came fresh and cheesy. I liked it a lot. Would surely return
(5)Mark H.
I think Tony's "you get what you pay for" is spot on. This is the place to go when you happen to be on that corner and, sadly, you only have 4 minutes to eat before a show or something. (It happens...) It's better to eat here than go hungry, I'd say. It might seem especially tasty when you're in the area after a night of fun and alcohol, though why you'd choose to spend your night of fun near Times Square is questionable... :) In any case, it's preferable to foul frightful Famiglia's across the street. Marginally better quality (if you'll forgive the word 'quality') at half the price.
(2)Jess L.
Pretty standard NYC 99 cent pizza place, right off the ACE trains. The sauce is very sweet, some of the sweetest I've had in the city. Ready to eat in less than a minute. Does the trick and is great for the price.
(3)Kip D.
I had a living social deal for 2 slices and a can of soda and they would not honor the deal. They are not a reputable establishment. In the 3 minutes I took arguing the deal, I looked around and the place was extremely dirty and unappealing. Please don't go to this pizza joint, there are 1000 better pizza options in NYC
(1)Katie K.
Located just a couple of blocks from Time Square, this place will do the trick if you're craving a late night snack. Prices start at 99 cents for the cheese, and go up based on topping choices. They also have garlic knots, and holy crap they were disgusting. Hard, stale, burnt, dry, ugh, just terrible! I think that popping them in the oven for a second when we ordered them made them taste even worse. Not the sort of soft buttery precious goodness that I like. I'd be willing to pay a couple of bucks more per slice for (easily obtained) better pizza elsewhere (not that I do much hanging out near Times Square anyways).
(2)Andrew B.
I dont expect more than a small piece of cardboard covered in some red substance and government cheese from a dollar slice location, but this was surpisingly good. I think the best part of it was the crust, it was not overcooked and had a decent springy texture. But they need parmesan cheese to sprinkle on the slice.
(4)Jiho S.
Ok so now that I've tried 99 Cents Express Pizza I feel I've conquered the $1 pizza slice triangle in Hells Kitchen comprised of 99 Cents Express Pizza, 99 Cent Fresh Pizza, and 2 Bros PIzza. So basics first, place is tiny and can only fit like 5 people in any one time. They have a wider selection of toppings and specialty pies compared to other $1 shacks, which I don't know if that's a good or bad thing in the $1 pizza business. Cheese is a buck, and most others are a $1.50 or more (mushoom, broccoli, fresh mozzarella, artichoke, etc.). $2.75 for 2 slices and a soda (seems fairly standard). Also have garlic knots and beef patties (who orders these anyway?). Also they deliver which is interesting considering the other $1 joints don't deliver so bonus for that. Now the pizza, well despite coming during an afternoon rush, the cheese slice I got looked as if its been out for a bit because he had to reheat it (seems like the other $1 joints never have to do that because they keep cranking out new pies at a rapid pace). Also at the other places the cheese slice is king and everyone gets it. I observed and noticed here everyone was getting different varieties so maybe that's why my cheese slice wasn't hot and fresh. Anyways I thought it was a fairly good slice despite that. The crust was crisp, not doughy and decent amount of flavor (although it was hard to tell because I may have destroyed it with too much garlic powder). But I still think 2 Bros is the champ of the $1 slice, at least in Hells Kitchen. This place ranks a close 2nd. 99 Cent Fresh on 42/9 I would say is my least favorite just because I don't like chewy, doughy crusts. So that's my take. Take your $1 and get a slice. You'll be ok. I don't know if I'll order delivery however to save the embarassment from my friends of ordering pizza that comes delivered in a trash bag (from another Yelpers review). $1 pizza in my mind is not for delivery. It's for spur of the moment / instant gratification at 4am type of pizza. Or the "I didn't have time to eat dinner tonight so I need a quick slice before drinking so I don't get wasted"- type of pizza...not the type to get delivered to your apartment. But I guess I'll try delivery once in the future. I mean shoot, $8 for a large pie delivered is probably the best value in Manhattan, don't you think?
(3)Michael L.
I stop by these places when I am on the run and need a quick bite. I can tolerate $1 pizza, but I have to say their pizza really sucks and not even worth a dollar.
(1)Rick L.
For 99 cents a slice you really can't beat it, but what I like more is the mushroom or other kinds of pizza slices for 50 cents more. The toppings are ample and the cheese is not skimpy. I love how friendly everyone is here and even if you are a few cents short sometimes they could care less- they want your smile and your business and even when faced with a rude customer they manage to keep their cool. I saw the worst jerk in front of me being a total asshole to the pizza oven dude and the guy just did his job and didn't fuck around. I was really happy to see this kind of professionalism. The crust is great and while it's nothing to write home about it's crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and with that slight mealy texture I've come to love the thinner pizzas with. The main thing is I hate places that use shitty cheese, skimp on cheese, or skimp on toppings and this place avoids all three of those cardinal pizza sins. Try them and you'll agree this place is definitely gonna give those other two 'dollar a slice' places a good bit of competition. Try the mushroom!!
(4)Daneliz R.
For Dollar Slices or $2.75 for 2 Slices PLUS a Can of Soda, you can't really go wrong. Pizza was fresh & location was clean. Its not top notch made in Italy pizza but I'll definitely be buying lunch at this spot more often. Service is extremely fast & several people came in while I was there. Definitely a good hidden secret in the Times Square area.
(3)Soy L.
I'm a pizza snob. This specific location has far better pizza than most pizza parlors in NYC, and it is certainly the best of the 75 cent-99 cent/slice places that have cropped up all over. They lose a star for lacking civility and any form of social grace in their interactions with customers.
(4)Brandon Z.
This pizza is getting worse. Maybe because I'm going at odd hours, the slices are reheated, not fresh. Not as good as the 99 cent places near 42nd and 9th. But yes, still a cheap and fast meal in a pinch.
