We eat a lot of Mexican food and it's always a great experience at Green Cactus. Friendly staff and fresh food. Quick service but never miss a beat. BURRITO FAJITA ENCHILADA STYLE is where it's at!!

Green Cactus is a good choice for fast and fresh Mexican on Long Island with various locations. I have frequented this location in Plainview in particular. When you walk in to Green Cactus, you will find it to be immaculate with a few tables, the salsa bar on the right wall, and the counter in the back. My favorite dishes are the Burrito Bowl, which have all the fillings of a burrito without the burrito (this is good as I cannot have flour tortillas due to my gluten allergy) and the Chicken Taquitos. The Chicken Burrito bowl has juicy grilled chicken, along with sweet sautéed onions and crisp sautéed peppers. The shrimp burrito bowl has sweet grilled medium sized shrimp, salty shredded monterrey and cheddar cheeses, crisp cabbage, your choice of red hot or mild green sauce, and sour cream. I also like the Taquitos, which crispy and have juicy chicken. To accompany your meal, the salsa bar has many different toppings, such as sweet and crisp pico de gallo, a pleasantly peppery salsa, mild salsa verde (green hot sauce), and red peppery hot sauce along with lemons, limes, and pickled spicy carrots and peppers. The service is friendly and while it is a little more expensive than Taco Bell, you can get a delicious meal for under $10! However, I wish that they also offered corn tortillas in addition to flour tortillas as I have gluten allergies that prevent me from eating flour tortillas. With delicious food, large portions, and cheap prices, Green Cactus is a great choice for fast and fresh Mexican!

Great little chain for Mexican food. I like it better than Chipotle. Food is fresh and the chicken tacos definitely hit the spot when you're hungry.

I personally love Green Cactus food. When I lived in Roslyn, I went to the roslyn location non stop. It was always busy, the staff was busy yet friendly and the food has always been good. Since my recent move, I've been going to this green cactus and have been turned off by it every time. Tonight was the last straw, and never have I ever been so annoyed and angry at the people who serve my food. Every time I would get food from this location, there would not be a single soul, other than myself and the people making my food/taking my money. I don't ever care about spending money on food, but today it just seemed like an insult. I called for pick up at 8:30. The lady on the phone sounded shocked that I was even calling for an order. She took the order, and told me that the place closes at 9. The way she made it seem was as if we came after 9, they would be closed regardless. Forget that, because that is presumptuous. When we actually get to the place, at 8:50, the food is ready and we've paid and ready to leave. I really like their sauce and wanted some with my salad. When I asked, they made up hundreds of different excuses why they weren't out. We were annoyed but we offered to pay for the sauce since it may have been packed and put in the back. I've been to green cactus 13049230 times and they have never run out. There was attitude, excuses and these people were rushing us out. Granted, it was 5-10 minutes before closing, but no customer should be treated like that, especially when you're the only customers and actually giving this dead place business. The people who work there are disgustingly rude, judgmental and cold. They have no sense of customer service and should really have either stronger management or just be replaced. If the rosiyn location could be doing so well, the plainview location should be also, if not more. The plainview location is among other shops, and one of the only fast food places in the plaza. Clearly there's something stopping people from going back to this, and from now on, I Will not be coming back. Oh and my chicken was a weird grayish color, as opposed to their orange color. I'm hoping it's just a lack of food coloring...but it was very unappealing looking.

This place is horrible someone recommend this place I should of known based on that person food taste this place would suck. Presentation wise the food did not look appetizing. The person who took my order mentally didn't not want to help. If I'm spending 14 bucks I want guac cheese sour cream did not get any of those in my plate big thumbs down to this place. I will never ever visit green cactus.

I went there for dinner a couple of weeks ago. I will NEVER go there again. I ordered one of their bowls. The cheese was sour. I brought it back. They tasted it and told me they thought it was fine. Of course, what else would they say? They told me they use only Monterey Jack Cheese in the restaurantt and had no other cheese. The woman at the counter apologized and served me a bowl without any cheese, which really sucked. I should have insisted on a refund, but I was really hungry. I know the taste of sour cheese. It has a similar taste/smell like sour milk. The cheese was sour. Completely ruined my evening. Gross.

Yum. I'm a huge fan. Chicken is always juicy and my tacos always crunchy. Loving the shrimp burrito as of now. Tried almost everything on the menu haven't had a bad meal yet. Only complaint would be the spotty service but otherwise all good!

The place is okay but I find it to be expensive for what it is. Most of the people who are there think that the fixing bar is a value but frankly it's not very clean. Moes Southwestern Grill is much better.

I like every Green Cactus I've ever been to, but this was the first one that really hooked me onto their food. You can't go wrong getting an affordable Mexican dish here. With their fresh salsa, limes, and hot sauces, the Salsa Bar is really the icing on the cake of this delicious Mexican joint. Highly recommend the Sombrero - it's a personal Mexican pizza. Great appetizer.

See I think this place is good.... but not excellent.. and it is practically the same price as chipolte. What I do like about their food is the freshness...I get the taco salads in the shell bowls... and I am always a big fan of the chicken they use. It seems like high quality chicken, and is always cookie perfectly! However I wish they had a better lettuce option instead of some crappy iceberg. I am such a brat. I hate when I order any kind of salad, and it is not already mixed. So when I ordered this... the chicken was piled on top with sour cream, salsa, cheese, and lettuce on the bottom... Trying to mix it all together just broke the shell bowl and made such a mess. I know that sounds picky, but it ruins the experience when it gets all messed up like that. eh... maybe I will just stick to my Chipolte burrito bowls.

I was a frequent customer of Green Cactus for years until recently. I loved eating the tacos & flautas. However, a few months ago I had a horrible encounter with a very very very rude cashier. The women had a complete attitude due to a change request I had in my order because I don't like eating a particular kind of food. It was her attitude that made me choose to not even take the food and walk out of the place and never return again after spending tons of money over the years eating the food. Just an FYI whoever is in charge at this place if you want to stay in business you need to hire new counter staff!

I went here for late lunch. I was craving for tacos, ordered a beef taco, it was dry and not juicy at all. The beef is on the chewy side, I was hoping for a melt in the mouth beef with fresh tomatoes or salsa, I was totally disappointed. With the portions on the small side at the price you pay.

For the price and ease of service I give it stars. Food is good and not very costly, the people working are nice. Not a date spot just quick and easy

Drew A. knows what he's talking about- that Burrito Fajita is excellent!! This location is worlds better than the one that used to be in Huntington Village.

I enjoy the beef and chicken tacos. I've tried the fish and shrimp which aren't bad either. Cactus salad is also good. Not a bad lunch option since I work practically next door. I wouldn't say its as good as Chipotle though!

pretty much the best fresh mexican grill. the only reason i give it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the prices. Its like $9 for a burrito with tax.

I usually come here for lunch when I'm at work. The place is well kept and pretty clean. The food is excellent, you can tell the ingredients are super fresh. I usually go with the green cactus burrito when I come here. You can get it with chicken or steak, I always go with the chicken, it has cheese guacomole and fresh pico de gallo in it as well. They also give you free chips and they have a fresh salsa bar so you can take as much as you want, along with pico, and some sort of jalapeno carrot mix. I've had the chicken and steak tacos here as well, they are a little small but very fresh.

Green Cactus is my local go-to for a quick burrito. The interior burrito ingredients blend well together and you don't get that 'one bite rice, one bite meat, one bite fillers' experience (hate that) like some other places offer. My consistant order is the Burrito Fajita (sautéed mushrooms, green bell peppers, tomato, onions, jack cheese) with chicken and as a small bonus there is guac in the burrito at no extra charge. As a double bonus at Green Cactus you get free chips with every burrito and fresh salsa bar when you walk in the joint. Add a drink to your burrito order and you can walk out of there with a solid lunch for under $10. Huzzah!

Not sure why this place closes at 8:30PM on a Friday night (which is when I went). It's probably because most of the stores in the shopping center were closed? Not sure. The food isn't horrible, but not fantastic either. I got shrimp tacos and they were definitely not what I expected. I probably won't be coming back again, but the prices aren't bad and the food comes with chips with access to a salsa bar. I guess it probably wouldn't be a bad pit stop in the middle of some shopping.

They messed up tacos.... If you are still reading, I'm not sure why. Literally a bucket of grease in the bottom of a shell. Foul.

This is the place to go if you want a quick bite of deliciousness. I highly recommend either the steak or chicken green cactus burrito. Plenty of meat in a soft shell burrito, cheddar cheese, guacamole & pico di galo.

While Chipotle and Moe's get all the attention, Green Cactus stands by offering food that can be just as good and at a slightly better value (compared with Chipotle). Both Moe's and Green Cactus include chips with your order, I however, like Green Cactus' pico de gallo and salso choices better than any of the other chain's and prefer Green Cactus' burritos over Chipotle's. Why the 3 stars? Inconsistency. For I want to say the last 5-6 times I've come here my burrito was pretty much cold, to the point of being un-enjoyable on 3 or 4 of those occasions. That to me is unacceptable. This type of food is intended to be cooked fully. The people working here are also not friendly in the slightest. I'd love to come back next time I'm nearby, but I'm hesitant now due to the inconsistency issue. Oh well.

I've had fish tacos all over Baja Mexico and California including the venerable chain Rubio's which specializes in fish tacos. The variations are endless, it seems the only thing they have in common in a soft flour tortilla. The fish tacos here are the best on earth. I must have missed the slump in food quality because they are still as good as I remember when I had my first one many years ago. I've yet to have something I don't like on the menu. Everything is fresh and delicious.

This is a fast food eatery I've typically frequented quite often over the years, mostly for lunch. It's a unique Mexican joint with quite a few other locations, each more or less identical in quality. The tacos at Green Cactus are not your typical tacos. They do not come with cheese or sour cream or beans. Here, they stick to the fixings and add lettuce, tomato, and salsa to flesh it out. It makes for a healthier taco and honestly they are so yummy I don't even miss the more fattening stuff. The fish tacos are the nuts and the best thing on the menu. The fish is fried cod and a special spicy tangy sauce gives it a nice zing. I always get a steak and chicken taco as well (get the hot salsa, never mild) and have yet to be disappointed. For traditional beef taco lovers, they do have a hard shell "taco primo" which is a bit larger than the other aforementioned tacos and does come with cheese. For sides, a bowl of Spanish rice or some black beans (topped with cheese) are great options. Maybe get some flan if you are not full. It isn't the best flan by any means (in fact it comes in a container rather than being homemade), but it packs some decent sweetness. Finally, there is a fixings bar that you can use to add or further customize your Mexican meal of choice. The service is not bad though sometimes you may struggle to get their attention, especially during busy hours. Why not 5 stars? - you don't get very many chips - fixings bar is sometimes not well stocked or maintained, though when it is you should grab some jalapeños - fixings bar is very limited, i.e., no access to black olives, sour cream, or much of anything besides salsa, tomatoes and sauces - nobody ever seems to come around to wipe down the tables or clean up during business hours...although there are plenty of seats and restaurant is mostly kept clean I highly recommend Green Cactus and this is my location of choice. Enough said.

I like this franchise Mexican joint. I love their fish tacos and shrimp tacos. There other dishes are good as well. But the tacos rock. Green Cactus uses fresh ingredients which you can notice vs eating at a Taco Bell where you usually feel like crap later. I was introduced to Green Cactus by my cousin David in Little Neck NY. at the Lake Success location. There isn't much ambiance but the food is really good. Can't wait to come back

I usually stop at Green Cactus when I'm in this shopping center. I have been going here for about 10 years and I still enjoy the fish tacos and chicken tacos. I also like the chicken taquitos. I wish they were a little cheaper but I'm still a fan!

I am not the type of person who automatically gives a place great reviews, unless they deserve it. This place definitely deserves a great review. A few weeks ago, I was in the mood for Mexican, although we were originally planning on picking up La Botega from next door. I entered the place. If you judge a book by its cover, this place may not be for you. It's not dirty inside, or ugly, it's just not anything fancy. I ordered a chicken enchilada and guacamole. It took a while for my food to be made, but they make everything fresh so it's an exception. I tasted what may have been the greatest thing I've ever had. The staff there is very friendly. I have been going there almost every day now, never disapponted. There are a few things that made this place not five star worthy, though. As many before me have stated, they are very cheap with chips. The crazy thing is that they will not serve you chips with your guacamole with the small portion, only the large one. Obviously I did not complain, but it is ridiculous. Not something to stop me from returning, though. The tables are a little wobly. That's why I don't eat there. If you are looking for a quick place to enjoy Mexican food, enjoy.

I have consistently gone to the Green Cactus in Roslyn Heights, but seeing as this one is near my work I decided to give it a try. The timing was perfect, the food was ready when I arrived, so for that they are certainly fast. Unfortunately the food flavor is lacking. Nothing was spicy even though I had requested so, and the hot sauce that they have at the salsa bar was disappointingly lacking in any kick. Regardless, their service is good, and any requests I made they certainly kept up with. I just hope that they'll add a bit more of that flavor that has kept me going to Roslyn.

Picked up takeout the other night. Fantastic vegetarian burritos and a cheese quesadilla that was loaded w cheese. Made to order and our order was ready by the time we walked to the wine shop and back.

  • Mike C.

Nothing bad about this place, but nothing that great either. The food has a tendency to taste a little bland, which isn't such a bad thing for me since I usually pour on the hot sauce anyway. But the flavor of the meat is very hit or miss. I've had some pretty tasty burritos, and I've also had some chicken that tasted like they bought it from Subway. Consequently I feel like this place is a tad overpriced, which is par for the course in Woodbury/Plainview I suppose.

Green Cactus was my go-to for fresh, tasty Mexican, especially the bean burrito, nachos, & quesadillas. Sadly, the overall quality has decreased, from the service to the food. Something is always missing or incorrect from takeout orders. The one time it was complete and correct, the nachos order was so overcooked it was inedible. The quesadilla is now just one huge blob of cheese, and any other order I've seen in the past few months looks slapped together haphazardly and is always out of balance (too much/too little of some ingredient). The last time we went to pick up an order we called in (two weeks ago), the entire staff was outside hanging out. They saw us walk in and let us wait at the counter for almost five minutes before sauntering casually in. The counter staff was never all that nice, but that was downright rude. I will be going elsewhere.

Im being generous by giving 4 stars. This place is more like 3.5 stars, but thats not an option on yelp. I ordered their signature one foot burrito the last two times I've been here. I wasn't surprised when I learned it's only 10.5 inches. That seems to be the trend now with places cutting back on size. At $14.50, the burrito is about $4 more than what it should be priced at. Aside from that, it was pretty good and came with chips and free access to the salsa bar. I would like to see this place add a small mexican beer selection and 1 or 2 taps. I would come here more often and sit down to eat. For now, this place will have to survive on takeout.

Ok...this is a chain Mexican joint with minimalist strip mall decor. Within these very limited criteria, the food is very good. It is always freshly made and flavorful. The place is clean, the plastic forks are plentiful, and the hot sauces include Chalula and Tapatio. If you are looking for a nice fresh burrito, go here by all means.

Really like the fish tacos, vegetarian burrito enchilada style & quesadilla. Only downside is that they close too early.

So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city.
