Been coming here since college (yikes!), which is when they first opened, and on my recent forays I'm glad to see that it has turned around itself from a simple location to the best designed, both customer flow and aesthetically based, location I've been in (save the big one in Jamaica, Queens). The service is also much improved as they get people in and out as quickly as possible, and they actually have patties in stock in the late afternoon/early evening (yes, that's a dig at Pattie Hut in Bed-Stuy that seldom has any patties). Yay to Golden Krust for stepping up their game!

Convenient yes. But doesn't mean that the food has to suck. Ha a jerk chicken patty that didn't taste much of jerk let alone chicken. i gave it a try at the referral o co-worker and was sadly misinformed. I usually stay away from all Golden Crust unless I am dying of hunger. I will continue to stay away.

One of my New Year's resolution is to try a new cuisine and I've been curious about Caribbean cuisine. I pass by Golden Krust Bakery every time I go to work, so I finally decided to give it a shot during lunch time. I went on probably one of the most frigid day of the year, cause temperatures were sinking down to 13 degrees with a real feel of 0 degrees. There weren't any customers in the little shop, so no line to wait on. I decided to order the braised oxtail with rice & peas with vegetables and plantains. It's been a very, very long time since I last had oxtail and I was much excited to try it when I returned back to my office. I got the lunch special, so the total was $7.62. In addition, I got a free cup of soup. Soup: It smelled a little like curry, but maybe it's the special spices they used. The soup was pretty hearty, it tasted just like a beef stew I had last week. There was pieces of carrot and large pieces of potato inside. I'm glad they gave me a cup of hot soup, cause it was totally brick outside. Braised oxtail with rice & peas: The rice and peas were a tad spicy, but I was able to handle it. The veggies I wasn't too crazed about it because it was bland and wished it was smothered with some of the sauce from the oxtail. The plantains were yum! It's been a while since I last had plantains. It was delectable! The braised oxtail was the star of the meal. I don't eat oxtail a lot, but as soon as I sunk my teeth into this juicy goodness, it was like a hearty explosion. It was cooked to the right texture and color. The sauce from the stew made the rice taste even better and juicier. I look forward to my next meeting with oxtail. Overall, it was truly a hearty lunch and at an inexpensive price for good quality. My heart was set on the Braised Oxtail, since I saw it on the menu and I'm content. Golden Krust is a chain restaurant, so you can look them up and maybe you'll be in luck to stumble upon the Braised Oxtail soon.

Convenient location. Standard food. Usually pretty friendly staff and reasonable prices. Good for picking up things to go like when you just have that craving for a beef pattie or curry goat and you are in the downtown area. They have a few seats if you need to eat, but this is totally for fast on the go eating.

It did the job . . . a Jerk Chicken Patty with Coco Bread around noon after not eating since the night before and having to endure a 3 hour flight from Fort Lauderale into JFK at 6 a.m., about 2 hours of traffic on the BQE from an accident and checking in to the hotel. I have had much better patties and Golden Krust is overrated but like I said earlier, it did the job and I can't be mad at that. They have plenty of spots to grub in downtown Brooklyn but this spot is quick and easy. I did think it was a tad expensive compared to other patty shops in the south but still better than dropping 40 or 50 bucks for 2 in a restaurant. I only gave it 2 stars because despite us being the only people in the shop, the guy behind the counter seemed uninterested. He had headphones on, we had to repeat several things to him and it just wasn't a good experience as all. The food was aight, but combined with bad service it didn't leave the best taste in my mouth. I would try the one between Willoughby and Fulton next time I'm downtown, over this one, or I may just skip Golden Krust all together.

I had to come on Yelp and write a review for this particular spot because it's the least I can do for them after that awesome service. Usually, I get very crappy service from any and every other Golden Krust, but this spot was different. I dont know if it was because I smiled or called the workers 'sir' or because i had a guitar on my back during, but i was surprised at there on point assurance to serve me as soon as they noticed i was waiting to be served.... Again, i must point out that usual golden krust workers at other locations do NOT do that. after they took my order, to which all i wanted was a chicken patty, the gentleman who got it for me pulled out not one... But TWO Chicken patties and charged me for the price of one... (it was actually $2.00 when the price said $1.95) but in the heat of the moment i was way too greatful and hungry and not a be moron to bring up anything about it. Now i don't want people to think they will get more than one patty if they order one. Perhaps i was there at the right time and they had a ton of them ready so maybe that was an effort of clearing out, or perhaps the guy was a musician that saw i was to, or any of the other reasons I've listed earlier... Point is I am definitely returning there again, and i encourage anyone else that for some reason looked on yelp before going there to also give the place a try as well........ I sure hope that kind of service from that particular spot was not just a one time thing.... As far as the food in general is concerned... It's just like any other... I mean I've noted earlier that I get usual crappy service, but of course I'm going to keep coming back, so let that give you a hint about what you're taste buds are in for....
