Great place for family lunch with excellent water views in Port Washington Fast service ( little too fast - got check before asking for it, wanted to order coffee before:) )

This place could be a top Greek deli/restaurant if they put a little effort in. The location is perfect and a great spot to grab a cup of coffee and stare out into the beautiful Long Island sound. Pros: Great location Beautiful views Parking Cons: Dirty Unfriendly staff Very disorganized

My friend and I came here for Sunday brunch and ordered Greek omelette and a chicken gyro platter. Seating was quick, atmosphere was lovely, but food was mediocre. The omelette was delicious, consisting of tomatoes, spinach, and feta. The chicken gyro platter, on the other hand, was horrendous. The slices of chicken were almost unrecognizable; they were rectangular tofu colored and textured pieces of rubber! They looked as if they came out of a Spam container. Gross. NOT a place for Greek food. On top of all that, when we wanted to split the check, the waitress asked US to compute the separate amounts.... Unbelievable.

The only good thing about this place is the view and even that is questionable depending where you're sitting. Hubby had the New Yorker omelet, I had the breakfast quesedilla, both were just ok, nothing to write home about. As mentioned in other reviews the service truly is lacking. Our server had the personality of the burnt toast she brought us. Never offered a refill on our drinks and didn't even bring out butter or jelly for the burnt toast, but I guess she figured no one was eating it anyway.

I wish you could rate with negative stars. So, just because you have a nice location with a view gives you the right to give terrible service? My pregnant wife and I had to endure the unacceptable grumpiness of the sort-of waitress. How dare we ask for the range of beverage options??? Why didn't we even think of going to the fridge ourselves to find out, as she very rightfully pointed out! Like, the fact that I give you menus doesn't mean that you are exempt from the "service ends at 4" rule!!! Did I mention that the food on display seems to have been sitting there for a week? Do yourselves a favor and check out the myriad of other nice places that Port has to offer. These guys should either get their act together or go make life miserable to their patrons somewhere else!!! 10^5 thumbs down! P.S: if you know someone else who's had a bad experience at this place, make sure she/he posts a review.

I'm writing an update because we tried to go here again on Sunday. Granted it was fathers day but really, it's ridiculous in this place. We walk in and sit down at a table. All the other tables are taken. This place has a view of the harbor and when the weather is nice they have giant glass doors that open up and it almost like eating outside. Of course on the nicest day of the year the doors are closed and the AC is blasting and it's like a freezer in the place. We wait and wait and wait. We ask a bus girl if there is table service. She mumbles and moves on cleaning up dirty plates. We wait and wait and wait. Over 25 minutes and we don't have a menu, and we have not even seen a waitress. Table next to us of 6. One of the guys there goes to the kitchen to see where their food is. It's been sitting there waiting to be picked up for 15 minutes and is cold now. They walk out. We wait another five minutes and the three of us leave. This place blows. I wish I could give it negative stars.

Great staff! We went one Friday night when they had live music and it was fun. Cute area with a beautiful view. I also bought a piece of jewelry from here and it broke and without hesitation the manager, Al, replaced it with no charge or questions and apologized for the broken one! Amazing service and great people.

I enjoy this restaurant mainly because of the location so close to the water. This place is on the corner of Main Street, with a very nice vibe. This restaurant serves up American and Greek classics for a reasonable price. We came here for breakfast on Mother's Day. There is a somewhat limited breakfast menu, but it serves its purpose. There weren't that many people there and we had to wait like 15-20 minutes for someone to take our order. Then, it took a while to cook our food. Anyway, the food arrived and looked appetizing. The eggs and toast was good, but nothing special, the pancakes had a special taste you can't find at a diner, and the Mediterranean omelet was very interesting and quite good. This was a good start to our day.

Okay, honestly I don't write reviews too often since I am quite patient and tolerant with food and service. So really, to push me to be writing this is really something. I want to preface by saying the food is pretty good, for a decent price. What I'm writing this review for is service, I highly advise AGAINST sitting down here for brunch on Sunday morning. Our waitress was RUDE, granted she was the only one here for a few tables but it was in no way any a "lunch rush" sort of situation. We asked for cups for our juice since it came in cans that were completely filthy, she literally put her hand out in a "stop" motion, shook her head and rolled her eyes. What? It's been 20 minutes since I asked her and still no cups, I'm actually scared to ask her again. I ordered a quesadilla off of the menu under a section that said "comes with home fries and toast", so I naturally asked her for wheat toast with my meal. She gives me a dirty look and says "Well you ordered a quesadilla which comes on a tortilla, so it would be weird if you got toast". Excuse me? We actually ended up going to up to the deli and ordering food since we were waiting for so long, again food is delicious. Just really avoid getting table service at all costs here.

So much potential here: beautiful views, lovely Mediterranean place, interesting food options. BUT, for weekend brunch, they have one server and one assistant. GROSSLY understaffed. Coffee was cold when it arrived. Food was below average. Morale among the staff was clearly low. Took 15 -- yes fifteen - minutes for waitress to notice we were finished eating. Took another 15 -- yes FIFTEEN -- minutes to get the check, AFTER we had asked for it. The owner here runs two other restaurants on the block. Best case scenario: he realizes the value of the properties, sells them to someone who really knows how to run a restaurant, and then that person makes something great out of a cool location. Please stay away from this place.

Nice place to get a Mediterranean food with large selection of salad and large portion everything for take home dishes. Like the sunroom porch where you have nice view. Problems to stay in you will have is that the AC is not strong enough because of its wild open windows. Still like it a lot .

Ugh. What a disappointment... Our second visit here for takeout during the week. First visit was fine. Gentleman taking our orders and making coffee, great. Last visit, shit-show. Totally bumbling of the manager who, after we asked where the homefries were included with our omelletes, said they were no good and he wouldn't eat them.... Wha????He took the coffees off our bill, but once we got to the pier, the order was completely wrong. Charged for things we never got Do yourself a favor and go to Harbor Deli right across the street.

I love coming here for lunch. They have a nice variety of foods behind the counter. The sugar snap peas are crunchy and yummy and complement the other dishes nicely. You can definitely find a hearty, healthy meal and enjoy a nice a view while you eat it. I enjoy coming here with my kids and then going to the bookshop on the opposite corner afterwards.

Get the Lentil Soup. I visit from Canada to eat this heavenly liquid gold under the pretense of seeing my niece and nephew but at least half of the reason I come is to have this delicious soup. I've never had such amazing lentil soup anywhere, ever. The breakfast/brunch is nice too, it's a really cute place to go with family, especially on a nice day as it's across from the Port harbour, but on any day, in any weather, the lentil soup is a MUST.

Decent place but really only good for breakfast. The portions are small but okay. Better off going to a diner.

Sure, it's not the most elegant eatery, but that's really not a reason to knock it. I've only ever tried some of their prepared food at the deli counter (they have salads, turkey burgers, kebabs and some of the best roasted salmon I've tasted). Everything I've sampled has been fresh, authentic and flavorful. It's always useful to have a place where you can grab something fast - hot or cold - especially on Long Island where you can starve to death just because you don't feel like killing 2 hours and $200 in a restaurant. I had to knock off just one star for the prices. Everything "looks" cheap, but they price it by the half or quarter pound whereas nearly everywhere else prices for deli/catering items go by the pound on the sticker. It's a bit of a shock when you go to pay.

I come here because it's a cozy cafe with an amazing view of the water. I haven't been here for any actual meals yet, just coffee, tea, and dessert. I like that they're open until 10pm. I come here to relax and chat and enjoy the view, but next time I'll try something for lunch.

Good place to have a gyro. It's weird I guess the market place and restaurant are owned by the same owner, but the big difference was the marketplace couldn't sell you a gyro on the pita bread. Instead they had to serve it either in a wrap or hero. I had a chicken gyro on wheat wrap. Overall it was ok....nothing special. I was not overly impressed but would try this place again. Also, you can eat inside which is kind of cool, because they eating area has a beautiful view of the water. Just that is worth another shot.

One cannot miss this cozy eatery, as they drive close to the town dock. The place is packed with delicious food and ethnic grocery items. As soon as one walks in, they are standing in front of middle eastern desserts, ranging from baklava, bird's nest, to various rice puddings and cheesecakes. On any given day, the variety of food available is overwhelming. From different marinated and perfectly cooked meats to numerous salads, one with the most picky appetite will be satisfied here...

The place has a great view where you can get an ok gyro. Other foods are ok. Kosher/jewish food seems to be their forte. In general, this place is all show with little substance. I thought it was humorous seeing all the guys in the deli wearing the chef's hats while serving you bla deli food.

The place has a nice view, and that is all you will get! Or, you will also get the WORST food and the RUDEST treatment! I was there for the first time with my girlfriend, ordered the Spinach pie, tea and cake, paid, then I asked for a receipt, the guy gave me some piece of paper that I assumed to be my receipt! But it was not! Went back to him, he start searching a pile of paper then gave me another piece of paper, which didn't show any of the items we've ordered! When I asked him he said to me "this is what I can give you, we don't print items or prices on receipts" I was a little disappointed, because I really didn't know what I've paid for! They sell food by pound, there is no way to know how much food you get, or how much you are paying per pound! They just ask for a certain amount of money to pay! Anyway we went to the table in the back to eat, my girlfriend tried one of the spinach pies, then told me "I think this food is spoiled.. I will not eat it", I tried a little piece then could not deny the fact that the food was really rotten! I went back to him and told him the food is really spoiled! He didn't seem to care much. put it aside, and told me "because it has a feta cheese, and that is how it smells"! I just was shocked how creepy people can be! No replacement! When I said "I really never experienced anything like that" he replied "you can go and complain!" I'm going to file a formal complain with the health department for the spoiled food, and another complain with the NYS consumers affairs office. My advice, stay away! There are much better places to eat in Long Island! Best regards, Mike

One of the finest low-key places to get lunch you will ever find. A delicious selection of Mediterranean foods. I don't think I've ever tried anything I didn't like here. I make an effort to go here everytime I go home.
