Delicious variety of cheese and cold cuts! I found the shop on accident as I was leaving town, on the way to a wedding. I recommend the Habanero Cheddar and the locally made, Sierra Gold-amazing!!! Great customer service. Jason was very welcoming, kind and helpful. He was gracious enough to give samples of each item purchased. Awesome place!

I love cheese and I love Wedge! Such a cute little shop, which much more than just cheese. After finishing up breakfast next door, we stopped in to poke around. I didn't need anything in particular but I always just like looking around in shops like this. They have a bunch of small food stuffs - spreads, salts, nuts, summer sausages, pickles - all things that are nice to accompany whatever cheese you are buying. They have a cooler with wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks. Basically, you can stop in here and pick up everything you need for a little picnic. As for the cheese, they have some pre-portioned miscellaneous cheeses in the deli case or you can order as much as you want of whatever they have in stock at the counter. I grabbed a jar of the boozy pickles from Nevada Brining Company and a small wedge of a horseradish and chive cheese. I only ended up spending about $13, but I know I could do much more damage! I was happy to see cheeses like Halloumi, which I never knew where to buy. I wouldn't say that their selection is as big as the cheese counter in Whole Foods, but if you are in the Midtown area, it's definitely more convenient to stop in here. I completely forgot that they served sandwiches and cheese plates, so I'll definitely have to come back for lunch soon. They have multiple classes and wine/beer + cheese pairings scheduled, all of which were $55/person. Something I'd be interested in doing, but I don't know if I could justify that cost.

A fun place!!! Found this place with an Amazon Local & Love it!!! Staff is very helpful-helped me pick out a bottle of wine & when I asked about cheese Pairings again they were very helpful- Even let you sample their different cheeses before you buy. I'll be back & next time I'll try one of their sandwiches!!!

Just moved into town. I was so happy with the selection of cheese at this shop and equally as happy with the service. I was welcomed into town, treated like family. I had asked about a list of farm to table businesses that I could support locally and I was given a handwritten list with an expectation of price. The Gruyere I bought here was amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Man, I have to look and see if we have a place like this here in Vegas. If we don't I want one! A really good selection of high end cheeses including many goat and sheep varieties and even a water buffalo one. My sister and I got a 5 item meat and cheese plate to try out some before buying. I chose the drunken goat cheese, the water buffalo cheese, the truffle goat cheese, air dried beef, and the garlic turkey breast. It was delivered with these awesome crackers, olives, almonds, apricots, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar for us to enjoy outside. I had to buy some of the drunken goat and the air dried beef to take back home with me. I would have loved some of the turkey but that probably wouldn't have traveled as well on the plane. If you are in Midtown in Reno and love some good cheese, stop by and have a plate!

LOVE cheese. One year for Christmas when I was a kid I even got a basket of various cheeses. I guess someone thought that was funny but it was one of my favorite gifts- I still remember it So to have this great little shop that carries such a large selection of so many different types of cheeses is incredible. Not just cheese but pâté, prosciutto, and salami. And a limited selection of wine. Lord knows how many times it have picked up three cheeses and some pâté and called that dinner with a glass of wine. Laura and the staff are quite knowledgable about the products. I can describe what I feel like and they point me to the right cheese for the mood. And have done a nice job of introducing me to some new flavors. They also offer classes and often have various producers in to sample and talk about their products I admit it can be a little pricier than the grocery store but where can you get this kind of selection and purchase the amount that you need or want Now I think I'll have to stop in tomorrow

I love that Wedge is still going strong! They have been back to make sandwiches to order for some time and they are delicious! I just had the meaty, always my favourite, and this time it had the most amazing fig spread on it. Seriously an amazing sandwich. There's something about this place that always makes me feel like it's summer and I'm getting sammies for a picnic.

The staff were friendly and patient in helping me select my cheese and charcuterie plate. They know their product and were enthusiastic to share their knowledge. They also sell great condiments in the store to go with your cheese plate. Cheese, charcuterie, castelvetrano olives, and a glass of bubbles. Enough said.

For Reno, this place is a home run. A smaller selection of cheeses than you would expect at most fromageries, however it is a welcome addition to midtowns collection of boutique storefronts. My boyfriend and I shared a beautiful 5-selection cheese plate ($20) and a pre-made sandwich ($8). Everything was delicious and we each had a glass of red wine ($6 each). There are only 2 tabletops in here so not many people come to dine/drink, but it's a nice place to grab a quick and interesting snack while hanging in midtown. They offer cheese education/tasting classes ranging between $20-$40 which sound like a lot of fun! We will be back :)

checked out Wedge Cheese Shop this weekend. The team was very knowledgeable about the different kinds of cheese and shared some language for cheese appreciation that I wasn't aware of. They opened packages so we could taste different cheeses. For a newly opened location I felt they had a nice variety of cheese; tickled to see beer and wine options and a mini deli option. Looking forward to their growth-know where I'll be picking up my brie's and carmodys

Nice shop, great variety. I am not a cheese expert, but like trying new things. The staff was nice and helpful and let me taste several cheeses. Nice to have this shop in the neighborhood. Very happy that they are open until 7pm so I can get there after work. I will be back.

We spotted this cheese shop when we were having brunch across the street at the creperie. Good thing we ate slow enough until the cheese shop opened. We arrived right when it opened on Saturday morning, haha :) The lady behind the counter was very nice - she let us taste test the cheeses and meats, so we can select the 5 item plate items. We decided to get the 5 item cheese & charcuterie plate for $20. It was reasonably priced! If I remember correctly, we got 2 meats, 2 cheeses, and 1 supreme pate (goose). cheeses: 10-year aged cheddar ; goat cheese meats: goose pepper ; proscuitto the plate also came with some olives, nuts and dried fruits...sparingly placed. You can't have such scrumptious cheese & meats without having wine! So we ordered a glass of red house wine to share (from Italy). It was $6. You can select house white wine or rose too. Our plate came with a small bowl of rosemary cracker crisps and sliced bread. It was a delightful treat to have this "cheese tasting" so to speak after our eventful breakfast. My husband was commenting on how he wish there was this type of cheese shop in town (or closer to us!) so we can go there more often. :)

I love to eat cheese but I can't say I know a ton about it. I got a gift card to their shop for christmas and I was really excited to check them out. The worker that was there was very helpful even though she didn't really seem to know a ton about cheese she still was able to help me choose something good. Atmosphere was also good, only thing I can complain about was the low quantity of sandwiches they had for lunch, all their sandwiches were sold out when I got there... So I would recommend if you want a lunch sandwich call them ahead of time and ask them to hold one for you.

I went there right before New Year's. The staff was really knowledgeable. They helped me pick up three cheeses that were wonderful. I just wish they had larger selection.

My obsession has always been cheese! I love it! The more unique the better! So when I found out about this place, I about fell of my chair! Reno doesn't have artisan cheese shops!!! Did me move to Napa, or San Francisco, and I didn't know it??? I'm excited and a little scared! I must explore!!! YEP, HEAVEN!! The staff is crazy knowledgable about all the items they carry! And trust me, they carry a large assortment! They are quick to offer a sample, or suggestion, and are wonderful with pairings! Do they only have cheese... Nope!! They offer artisan meats, and can create sandwiches, or plates. They offer quite a few different spreads to pair with your cheese, and all the cheese accessories you can dream of! My hubby always gives me a budget when I come to wedge, I can easily spend 50 bucks on a small cheese plate, if he isn't there!!!

Good selection - super helpful staff. I went here about a month ago as I had a gift card given to me. Wasn't sure what I wanted but the man helping me was super nice and very helpful. He gave me a sample of anything I was curious about. I ended up getting several tasting size pieces of cheese. I would recommend this local business to anyone!!

Lately my daughter and I have been on a cheese binge. We LOVE cheese!! The best variety and customer service that we've found has been at Whole Foods on South Virginia... we love going there. Then I came across reviews for "Wedge", and the more I read the more excited I got. An actual CHEESE SHOP??? Oh yeah.... we're ON it!!! From the moment we walked in the door, Jason helped us. He was so friendly and down to earth... not just trying to make a sale and get rid of us, but honestly happy to help us and show us different cheeses. Some he recommended, others we wanted to try... but a taste of each and every one we looked at. There was so much there, we pretty much stayed in one section of the store (besides the amazing French Brie that we ended up getting), and for around $25 walked out with a variety of cheeses and some DELICIOUS Celtic Sea Salt caramels. I can't decide what I loved the most about this place... the great customer service, the amazing cheeses (that have my mouth watering just thinking about it!), the wonderful products they have that I can't wait to get, the relaxed atmosphere of the place... whatever it is, I'm hooked line and sinker. This is now our new "Go-to" for our cheese binges!! Thank you Jason, and thank you Wedge for opening such a wonderful store!!!

A great shop in the Reno Midtown district. They carry Artisan Cheeses, cured meats, jellies & some beer/wine. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. They Even gave us few samples of a couple of cheeses we had questions about. They have beer & wine pairing classes throughout the month, also. A must stop by and check out if your in Reno!

Emailed Wedge seeing if they had cheese curds and they did! I've been searching for months for cheese curds and finally found a place in the Reno area that sells them. Upon entering Wedge eye contact was made with whom I assume is the owner, he STARED ME DOWN and then continued his conversation with a customer, none of the staff greeted me also upon entry. They only had one customer in the shop they had no excuse for not greeting me. Stood in front of the display case for a few minutes without ever being approached or asked if I need help. I'd give you one star if it weren't for the cheese curds.

Everything craft is making a comeback. America is pretty much over the corporate chain conglomerate thing, because it has made us all sick and destroyed our sense of community and we all hate bailing out big business and big banks. America is now rediscovering craft, as in craft beer, cocktails, craft carpentry, ironmaking, craft weaponry, food, you name it. Back in the day, Americans all wanted to homogenize blindly following the cultural cues from New York and Hollywood. Now, it's all about celebrating niche and diversity. Hence this place. This is more than a cheese shop, although they have ample cheese, the largest selection in Northern Nevada I would argue. I like the fact that they give out free samples and you can also ask to sample something. You can't do that at Wal-mart or even Whole Foods although they do leave out samples at Whole Foods. They are knowledgeable and helpful, however a bit scattered like goldfish. Someone will inevitably ask you if you are being helped after you get helped. They also have nuts, chocolate, olive oil, wine, beer, esoteric kind of stuff you'd find at Napa Sonoma. Most importantly they had charcuterie, an assortment of cured meat and sausages and pates. They only have about a dozen of these however. Most cured meat goes for about $30/lb a bit pricey but that's what you get for quality. They don't have bologne. It takes a while around lunch time. They make sandwiches like a sub-shop so if you want to just get cheese or slices of prosciutto I'd avoid lunch time. It's a bit cramped in there. Studies show shoppers don't like rubbing butts in narrow aisles. There's a couch area in back and two tables in front if you want to eat and drink alcohol there. Some people think that when you salt meats, you kill all the bacteria, but there is actually bacteria that grows with salt, however, it's harmless to us, just like the bacteria and mold that grows on cheese. We actually have more bacteria cells in us than our own human cells, and even our human cells contain a foreign proto-bacteria namely the mitochondria which has its own DNA and is used to trace our ancestry along with our own DNA. The bacteria that grows in cured meats and sausages help break down the meat protein and fats and make it more delicious. They are similar to the bacteria in our gut that helps us digest food and without which we could barely survive. So consider that when you eat cows and chickens and farmed fish that are given antibiotics. Not only does it create super bacteria but it also kills the beneficial bacteria that help them digest food. If you're new to charcuterie, just try their prosciutto and speck and if you like bacon, you won't go back. While pork is a white meat, nitrate when used for some dry-cured meats is reduced to nitrite then to nitric oxide which reacts with myoglobin (muscle pigment) to produce the red or pink cured color. Did you know, white meat is fast-twitch muscle used for quick outbursts of motion compared to red meat which is slow-twitch muscle used for sustained endurance? Since most fish only use short bursts of speed to catch prey or run from predators, they're mostly white meat, but some fish like tuna and salmon that travel constantly have red meat.

Wedge features a pared down selection of local artisanal cheeses from places like Bleating Heart Dairy. They also carry great crackers, some wines, chocolate, etc. The staff are warm and always ready with a sample of something great.

This must be Reno's finest Cheese Shop! We stopped here yesterday morning after having brunch at cafe Creme (crape place) across the street and seeing balloons. It turned out it was their second year birthday and we arrived just in time - 10 minutes before the 2pm cake cutting. They had beer and wine samples for purchase and a ton of free samples of all sorts of meats and cheeses. My favorite was this chipotle melted cheese dip mix. It's a pack of seasoning you add to your favorite cheese and it makes a spicy warm cheese dip. The baked Brie was also quite nice. Everything we tried we loved. What blew me away and why this place gets my seldom given 5 star review - the passion of the owner and meeting her loyal customers. We got chatting to several loyal customers in line who had so many great things to say about the owner and the cheese shop. When it was finally cake cutting time (btw: crazy cake it was all stacked cheeses made to look like a wedding cake! So delicious) the lady behind the counter got up and gave a short speech thanking her customers and staff for coming together to celebrate their 2 years in business. She was actually brought to tears. So grateful for her customers and the community. That is something you rarely see in a business owner. What's more the staff were really nice and passionate about cheese. After the cake a young lady helped us decide on a good cheese to go with this bourbon soaked fruit we had picked up. It was a balsamic cheese, tasted similar to Romano we ended on. My wife has the name written down somewhere. We got that and once she heard we were from out of town she offered to sell us some fresh French bread and cut it up into crustini's for us and get us a knife to cut everything. It was very thoughtful. Anyways if you are in the area check this place out. I wish this store was in San Francisco. I can't get over how many great local shops Reno has to offer!

Ok, yes I would give any cheese shop 5 stars...why? because they have CHEESE!!! but also the people here are friendly and the selection is good and my husband and I find that cheese makes a good day even better. We had a three sample platter with wine accompaniment, and it was so delicious we took some of the wine and cheese and figs home with us...they did not make it all the way back to California...(but you could have probably guessed that...) For a great afternoon treat have a three or a five sample plate...the wines are also top notch...

I love cheese and I love Wedge. It is such a great addition to the growing food community in Reno. They sell a top quality product in a friendly, helpful manner. They do not have a huge selection, but there is sufficient variety to find something to love. Everything is labeled as to name, type of milk, and where it is produced. They are also very accommodating with letting you sample before buying. The staff are very knowledgeable and help steer you to products that you would like. I have had the chance to try some cheeses I would not have otherwise tasted. They really provide the opportunity to expand your palate. The cheese is top quality and is priced accordingly. Not cheap, but quality artisanal products are worth the cost.

I've been in here 2 or 3 times and each time has been the same. There are two girls tending the shoppe who are not happy! I know I'm a big dummy who hasn't mastered cheese, meat, wine combos. I know it's so lame to not know what the exact names are of the kinds of cheeses and meats I like. I know I'm a big stupid dummy having not mastered the best way to order one of their meat & cheese platters. And mostly I'm so sorry I'm not from southern France with a world class concept of the finest intricacies of wine, cheese, and aged meat palate! Also it's expensive which would be fine if they were cool. I liked whatever I got, but didn't care for the inability of the non-smiling girls to connect, build rapport, or make educated recommendations about their product. Hipsters. :)

Went to Wedge, the cheesemonger shop in reno Midtown today. First impression was they offer a wide and eclectic variety of goods in a rather small square footage. Second impression was being somewhat overwhelmed by same. I would like to give kudos to Jason, a very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable employee. Learned that The word salami in English comes from the plural form of the Italian salame; it is a singular or plural word in English for cured meats of a European, particularly Italian, style.

Cheese Yes Please! One more place you wouldn't expect in Reno. A nice selection of cheese and assorted gourmet treats. I love the cucumber sodas. They have charcuterie plates and sandwiches if you want a quick bit there or to go. The service is very pleasant and they are free with the samples. They made suggestions without pushing any sales. Wheelchair accessible.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Amazing sandwiches, and excellent selection of cheese. Got the mmmeaty with mortadella, Havarti, apples, pickles and roasted red pepper spread, and it was to die for. Daughter said it was the best sandwich she's ever had. They made a plain grilled cheese for my little one, which was nice. Got a 1/4 lb. of the truffle gouda to go, and it was amaze-balls. It had little bits of truffle in it, which added a nice texture to the cheese. Will stop in again next year when we make our annual visit to Reno!

Hands down, one of the best places to buy cheese, could be the best if you factor in the personal touch. Every time I've been in, Laura is there, she knows what I like, she can recommend cheese for any meal or pairing. The service has always been great and I've been multiple times. I would also check them out if you need a platter of cheese with fruits, nuts, honey, etc. Just yesterday she put together an amazing platter for us to use for a catering we were doing and she has also provided cheese for dinners we have done. She gave us a cow, sheep and goat cheese, all super interesting, all tasty and nothing pedestrian. I trust her judgment and knowledge and look forward to opportunities to work with her. A trip to Midtown is not complete without a stop at Wedge.

I have no prior cheese knowledge but the reviews had me confident I'd be led in the right direction. It's a little intimidating walking in but the staff makes you super comfortable and at ease even with your limited cheese whiz (see what I did there?). I told them I just wanted to take some stuff over to a girlfriends house for ladies night and there would just be 2 of us so we kept the sizes small. I just loved it. I really had a great experience for my first time and giving 5 stars even without being at other cheese counters. I was offered to taste everything without even asking and it was just fun. It would be fun to do just in itself! For their cheeses and meats themselves, it would have been probably $25 or so, but I added some $6 pecans and $3 dollars worth of candies haha I received 5 cheeses, and 3 meats priced at around $2-$4 each. It turned out to be way plenty for just 2 people. Cheeses: *Cow milk Brie-truffle infused- didn't try a lot of, seems mild and tasty. *Cow, sheep, and goat milk La Mancha- hard cheese, mild and reminded me a bit of a smoked flavor. *Sheeps milk selchkase (smoked)- I think this was a Gouda or Gouda like, I love smoked cheese so this was especially good. Also hard cheese. *Cows milk "barely buzzed beehive" - tasted because I read about it on another review. Lavender and expresso based. This was probably favorite, even over the smoked. * a dessert cranberry cheese my friend kept this one as it was a crumbly texture and I don't care for that. This was her favorite out of them anyways. Meats: *dry aged beef "bresaola movers piccola" - salty and dry. I was surprised I liked this. Almost beef jerky like. * salami "sopressa veneta creminelli" - a most popular meat that is pretty tasty, a pork with garlic and wine. * prosciutto di San Daniele principe - not much besides a good prosciutto. Darker in color. Overall I feel very adult like, it was more than I probably should have spent but the cheeses are really irresistible. I liked everything I tasted!

I love Wedge. I don't know what I would do with out this little shop. After a great trip to Switzerland I was thrilled to learn Wedge was opening (a while ago now), and carried many of the cheeses I got while abroad. I can't live without appenzeller cheese, and come by the shop regularly to get it. Prices are good (it's fine cheese people, which isn't cheap!). Selection is good. Staff are friendly. Love it.

We have fallen in love with The Wedge. The people are truly lovely, friendly and helpful...& their cheeses are delicious! They have an amazing selection of cheeses and even offer cheese plates & wine. Their cheese plates are fabulous and well worth the price. You can select your own cheeses for the cheese plate or let the experts surprise you with their own choices. We selected our own and tried the cheese plate with epoisses, drunken goat, beemster XO, bleu de causses & a roulade de chèvre. Our choice of sides included apples, grapes, olives, baguette and we purchased additional cheese crisps & a duck & goose pâte. Everything was delicious! If you are in the neighborhood and want a taste of a true French fromagerie, this place is worth checking out! We also ordered a cheese basket from them about a month ago for a family member & all we can say is WOW! It was beautifully done and they fully customized it to our request & even included a hand made custom card. We are fans of The Wedge & will be back any time we're in the Reno area!

My friend got me into different kinds of cheeses in the last couple of years and this place is the primary reason. Great selection of meats and cheeses. Staff is very helpful and we have never been disappointed in our order. I am still new and learning about wine and cheese but this place is making it easy.

Ghost Pepper meat. Please and thank you. Staff: Knows their stuff and can pair and educate with ease. You can get the basic CowGirl creamery stuff or get your hands on some rare and funky fromage. Sandwiches: Scrumptious . Do I wish they were not pre-prepped? Yes. Do they still taste great? Absolutely. Oils and condiments: You can break a budget quick, but it feels and tastes good to do so. Plates and eating there: Great! A few outside tables for some sipping on well paired wine with meat and cheese plates. People watch and enjoy the neighborhood If you need to plan a picnic on the fly this is your place.

I've let this review go too long without an update, and for that I apologize. We have been to Wedge several times since my first visit, and the service has definitely picked up. We are now always offered suggestions and samples, and the classes on the board are very tempting, even though the prices scare us away. Overall, there is a much better level of service since my first experience, although I still remain a bit underwhelmed by the selection.

I love Wedge. Whenever I have a taste for for something new, I know I won't be disappointed. They have, as far as I know, the widest selection of esoteric cheeses and cured meats of any place in Reno, even including Whole Foods. Though they may not have the widest selection, the cheeses and meats they carry are not often found in other stores. They not only carry international cheeses, with Dutch ones being my favorite, they specialize in locally, regionally, and nationally produced produced small batch cheeses. They also carry cured meats that include the usual suspects, but also meats not found at other stores. They even had Foie Gras on this visit (I passed since I wanted cheese this time). Service is usually friendly and personable, though this does depend on how many people are waiting for an order. I usually wait 'till after lunch time when the service is a lot more relaxed and immediate. Did I mention I love Wedge?

Please Read! So our first time in and we talked with Jason. He definitely knew his stuff. We have shopped for cheese at numerous places, including whole foods and the nugget market. This has to be the best cheese experience my wife and I have ever had. Now we don't know the other workers but when I return I will ask or wait for Jason. On this trip, our first we purchased 8 different cheeses, 4 different meats, I pasta sauce, 1 pasta package, a jar of jam, loaf of bread and 2 caramels. All the cheeses and meats Jason, let us try.. What store has ever done that? We loved every single one(of course since we bought so much). I would also state, we were not hungry when we went in, but were definitely cured(no pun intended) of any hunger when we left. Seriously, excellent service! Thanks Jason. It was a fitting end to the perfect week.

I ordered a cheese plate with five selections, the cheeses were tasty but when I arrived at the dinner party, I was surprised and a bit embarrassed at how small the plate was for the $22 I paid! I don't think I would return to this place- unfortunately for $22 I could've bought cheese at whole foods or trader joes and got a whole lot more for my dollar.

Great friendly service and a nice selection of cheeses. It was awesome to have some Olympic Provisions being a former Portlandian. The staff was willing to slice up a few slices of each selection so I didn't have to buy more cheese than I could get through on my own. Highly recommend the Whiskey Cheddar!!! The Maple Leaf smoked Gouda was delish as was the Swiss Gruyere.

Very friendly helpful service, it is nice to meet an owner who actually knows how to deal with a customer. Parking can be an issue, but worth the effort. The shop is nice and clean and the board categorizing the cheeses is a nice touch, something I have not seen in other cheese shops. More than willing to set a sample out for you to taste of any cheese you might find interest. I honestly can not say if the cost of the product is good or not since I am horrified by all costs these days. But if you love cheese as I do, you pay what it takes and get over it. We got about five or six different cheeses and Pâté and all are very good with one being a stand out, Winnimere Jasper Hill Vermont Raw Cow Milk 1948. Also the Irish Whiskey cheddar was too quite good. A lot of choice for the size of the shop and city.

This is a great place to get unique and delicious cheeses. I really like their sandwiches, especially grilled. The sandwiches are pre-made (that day) and they only have a set number of them, so just be aware that they do run out.

I think my first review was about two Years ago for wedge, they totally deserve an updated one. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for.... And I've never been disappointed. One trip was a group of four of us, it was a few friends from sac and my daughter. Now it was for snack s before her "thanksgiving" dinner going away party. I think they let the three of them try just about every meat and cheese they had... And they were the ones offering. Nearly $100 later we finally got out of there with way too much food. But it was all very much enjoyed. They always have great new meat options, the one with fennel is my favorite! They have an amazing triple creme, she called the breakup cheese, as in you'll glady breakup with him instead of share it. (it is that good) they have fresh baguettes, a huge cracker selection, jams and their Macon almonds are OMG I don't share those! Great local products even had duck confit last visit (which since I had a fresh grand Marnier cranberry sauce on hand ) that became dinner with triple creme, cranberry sauce, baguette and duck.. great wine selection.... So much more I know I'm missing something! If you haven't tried it...go now, really put the phone down and go... Unless it's Monday and they are closed , then sulk until Tuesday!

I have been twice and not only ended up with what I wanted, I ended up with better. Great, knowledgeable staff, generous samples and an amazing selection of almost any cheese (plus pate and accompaniments) that you could imagine. The prices may seem high but the quality, the ability for the staff to help pair cheeses with your meals and the overall taste is very reasonable.

Overall impression - Cool Little Cheese Shop Service - Despite some previous reviews, our experience was nice. Wife and I were greeted within a minute or two of entering. We were offered cheese samples and a taste of the house wine to help us decide on a beverage. "Nice touch!" The girl behind the counter was friendly and not overbearing at all. We ordered two sandwiches two wedges of cheese to go and two glasses of wine. The staff checked on us regularly, which is to be expected. Sandwiches - Pre Fixed and chilled in the display case, and if we had not taken the staff's recommendation of having them "Panini" style probably would have been a little soggy from sitting all day pre-made. They were tasty though! Product Selection - Amazing selection of cheeses for a small mom and pop place, but nearly 25% of the cheeses were "Temporarily Out". Not impressive to a first time customer, but the service made up for that. Also impressed that they have a selection of 4 Pâtés to choose from (My favorite! Well, beside a great cheese.) They are eager to let you try it too! Last and final whine, we wanted to take a fresh baguette home with our cheese, but all they had were two that were day old and fairly stale. I don't know about others, but I like a good chunk of fresh baguette with my Camembert, or Roquefort. Prices - What you would expect for a small cheese shop. They do offer a $10 lunch combo with Sandwich, chips and canned soda that looked reasonable. In totality though, I like this place and feel like a little more attention to the minute details would help brandish a five star review from me...

I know nothing of cheese, or how many cheeses a shop should have - so take this review for what it's worth. A friend and I stopped by about 6 on a weekday, and the neighborhood was bustling! While we were the only ones in Wedge, once we sat outside two or three people came through. We split the fall cheese plate. It took them awhile to bring to us, but once they did - it was really good! The server forgot to explain what cheese was what, but came back out to tell us. I asked her what to pair them with (there were crackers, fruit, and a sweet nut kind of spread), she said that each "pair" was chosen specifically for any of the cheeses on the plate, so we mixed and matched and it was all delicious. The one down side to wedge it the price, with a glass of wine it came to about $20 per person. I don't doubt the quality of cheese, so I bet it would be justifiable if I knew exactly what I was tasting. Otherwise, it was a fun treat on a beautiful September evening in MidTown!

Oh, how I wish this lovely little shop were in my town! However, since I was in Reno to drop off the owner Laura's niece, it was the perfect chance to get a cheese fix from a true cheese connoisseur. Laura's selection of cheese was wide & varied - a bit of every style & milk type - some favorites & lots of new things. I was offered a sample of anything I wanted, some with a taste if wine, some with a bit of jam, any with crackers if I wanted (I didn't). I told Laura what kinds if cheese my hubby & I like and asked her to select 6 for me to take back home with me. We have had a few cheese boards with them and have loved every bite if her selections. I can only reiterate how much I wish we had a Wedge Cheese shop here where I live. If Laura ever wants to open another shop, Oakley is waiting for her.

Few things bring me joy like cured artisan meats and stinky cheese. Wedge carries both. The hot coppa is my favorite thing sold here. The staff is all pretty nice and knowledgeable. Wide selection also.

Wonderful meat and cheese tray combinations and customer service is PHENOMENAL! Most of the items they have are available for sampling, so if you're not sure what you like yet, ask to see of they have a sample available! I will be back! SAY CHEESE!!! LOL

Wow Wedge. Thank you for taking a risk in this economy to start up such a specialized shop- and doing it well! Service was awesome, thank you Laura, as was ambiance and selection considering they just started up. I went to Wedge on a Saturday afternoon with a girlfriend. We browsed the modest selection of one free-standing cooler and then two cool cases that made up the counter. We asked to sample the cheeses of the day and were served promptly, and other customers in were asked to join us as they sliced. It's nice when the tasting host includes everyone- makes for a nicer ambiance and then we all made comments about what we were tasting as a community- no one left out. I loved the feeling of comfort not only in the store but with the strangers around me who were sharing a sensory experience and offering insight that I may not have thought of. Not particularly loving any of the samples to take home- but making note of a chevre topped with savory fig jam I wanted to buy in a couple weeks as an appetizer for a shower- my girlfriend and I asked if we could sample a few hard cheddar wheels that had peaked our interest in the counter cool case. Without hesitation, 'Of course!" and we were instantly served the six-eight samples we had been interested in, as well as a bright green buttery olive and pate that others in the shop had asked to try and we were invited to partake in. I loved being able to taste everything before deciding if I wanted to take it home. I've heard you can taste things at Whole Foods, but have never had a sales associate offer- so it's a bit of a mystery what you will be getting. I enjoyed being able to discern the really good from the excellent- and then taking home reasonable sized slices cut to order that I can go through in the next week. Also- 25% off Cheddar SALE- who could resist!!! I ended up with five small wedges, wrapped nicely in paper as cheese should be: Red Dragon Somerdale England Pastuerized Cow's Milk #1306- Softer white cheddar with Mustard seeds. Yes, whole Mustard seeds. It adds an amazing texture and little flavor pop as you burst the tiny spheres amongst the creamy pungent cheese. If you like Mustard- you must try. Harlech Somerdale England Pasteurized Cow's Milk #1308- So this is one I knew after picking up at Whole Foods. It is a white cheddar, softer and creamy as above, but has Horseradish and a bit of Parsley. I was told it would be an amazing finish on a roast beef sandwich. If you are a person who loves Horseradish, but not the sinus cleansing effect, this cheese is for you. Full of Horseradish flavor and texture without any burn- cut by the creaminess of the cheese perhaps? A must try. Barely Buzzed Beehive Utah Pastuerized Cow's Milk #1104- SO UNIQUE! If you love Lavender infused foods, this will impress you. This is a hard cheddar with a rind that has been rubbed with Espresso crumbles and Lavender. The dry rub on the outside of the rind makes for a nice textural chew. The flavor results in a creamy cheddar flavor with hints of Espresso flavor and a Lavender scent that fills your nose while you are tasting the cream of the cheese. Does that make sense? Tricky to explain- just TRY IT! Honey Buzz Chevre Uniekass Holand Pasteurized Goats Milk #1304- A harder chevre that dissolves from the pungent goats milk flavor to creamy honey! It's a wild effect- but so delicious. Would be amazing on a cheese board alongside some raw honeycomb and walnuts. Honey lovers, TRY! Okay, Last one had no sticker :( But the # is #578 and it is an Apple Smoked Cheddar. The rind is brick red-orange from some kind of spice that could be smoked paprika. The smokiness of this cheese is phenomenal- not too overpowering- and will gently remind you of campfires. It is a dry and pungent cheddar, and I look forward to trying some with my home made apple butter to add some sweet and spice to the smoky and dry pungent cheese. Please stop in, try at least one of these, and others you may be interested in, and support a small business in MidTown! *I think I will keep a small book with the cheese title stickers and flavor notes for future reference.

I finally got a chance to stop by Wedge and was extremely disappointed with their selection. There were very few people in the shop, but we were never greeted by anyone working there. If you've ever been to a legit cheese shop, you can smell it down the block. Wedge was virtually smell-less, which is probably a good thing for those who have never gotten the opportunity to enjoy a large-scale shop. The selection was extremely small, and it didn't seem like the people who worked there were very knowledgeable about the cheeses. Since moving to Reno, I've been overjoyed about the quality of the Whole Foods cheese section. Some of Wedge's daily sandwich selections have sounded delicious, and should I ever crave a sandwich, I'm sure I'll go there. But for cheese? I'll stick to Whole Foods.

Stopped back in yesterday, as we were in the neighborhood (checking out Dreamer's next door). I had heard that Wedge was doing sandwiches now, so I was curious about that. The feel has improved leaps and bounds - there's now a large white board in the window, and it was advertising they had two different tasting plates. This time when we walked in, we were greeted warmly (we were the only folks in there at that point, though a few more folks came while we were there). We ordered one of the plates, that had a jack, gouda, some almonds, a fruit jelly, and a salami. The plate had good presentation, and was plenty for the two of us to split as a mid-afternoon snack. They're also serving some beer and wine now, so I had a Stillwater (I think it was the Autumnal?). Seating was a little awkward - they've got a bigger table in the back that seats six, but it looks like they also use it for a bit of office work - there was a laptop and some random papers stacked up on it, but there was still plenty of space for us to sit. Felt to me like we were visiting someone's home, as opposed to a business - not a bad thing per se. I saw the sandwiches in the display case, and they looked fantastic - will definitely have to try this place for lunch some weekend. After the hard cheeses, I was craving something soft, so picked up a bit of Laura Chenel's chevre. Haven't tried it yet, but definitely looking forward to it. Overall, it seems like a much more polished experience then when we stopped in a few weeks ago. I wrote previously that it seemed like they'd sort of been caught off guard when opening, but it didn't feel that way yesterday - felt like a small business that's quickly finding it's stride.

I am by no means a cheese aficionado but it didn't matter at Wedge. The staff answered all my novice questions and did all they could to accommodate me. Offering free samples is always a good move! I really think this place is going to thrive long term. The space is comfortable and the location should be great with all that's being developed around them. They offer some tasty gourmet sandwiches and I don't think their prices are unreasonable. I think they are competitive with WholeFoods and the personal attention makes this place a good option for locals.

I had the pleasure of using Wedge to provide some business catering for a client of mine. I wanted to send a client a holiday gift but wasn't interested in the standard fruit basket or popcorn tin. I worked with Wedge to put together fabulous trays of goodies. The product was exceptional and my client LOVED it. Dealing with Wedge was a breeze as their team was incredibly professional and prompt. When I contacted them with what I was thinking, they quickly put together options and made it easy to do business with them. I would highly recommend using them to meet the needs of businesses for meetings, parties, etc. I look forward to using Wedge again and again from both a professional and personal standpoint.

Living in Reno just got a whole lot better with the discovery of the Wedge in the up and coming Midtown region. My husband and I just sat outside the cute shop and had a couple of glasses of wine and the 5 selection cheese tray with olives, nuts and even gluten free crackers! And then my husband got us some deep, dark chocolate to go with their house red wine (which is lovely). High quality products, excellent service and a very interesting street scene. We'll be back often.

They have so much awesome cheese and let me try lots of different samples. They pushed me to try their Bree and I didn't want to because I never liked Bree. They convinced me to try it and I bought a. 1/4 wedge.

Been here a few times. I love cheese, but I know nothing about it: not a problem here! They know everything! Incredibly knowledgeable and educated staff about the cheeses they carry and cheese in general. I walked in the first time and was asked what I liked, and all I could say was "soft and not too funky, but not bland." Somehow that translated into a dozen cheeses to taste, about eight of which I purchased. Delicious! They often have samples of featured cheeses, and sometimes they do taste pairings with wines. They have let me try every cheese that interested me before buying, and they'll cut blocks on request to give you exactly the amount you like. They also have small remnants from blocks wrapped and for sale, which is a great and inexpensive way to try some new things or create a little assorted cheese tray at home! I love that the staff always knows where the cheeses come from, cheese "relatives," and interesting tidbits about geography or cheese-making processes. Delicious products with a wide variety and always new stuff to try. Incredibly friendly and educated staff. A very welcome feeling when you walk in the door. The only thing I don't love about this place is that I can't afford to come in every week!

Cant say enough good things about this place. I spoke with who I assume was the owner and she let me try about a dozen different cheeses and then helped me find a cheese that was more in my price range. I like that every time I tried a cheese, she tried a cheese too. HAHA...fell in love with a $38/lb cheese, but "settled" on a $12/lb, 2 year old aged Irish cheese which everyone who has tried it has loved. HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking this place out and support local small business.

I wandered in to Wedge last week on my way to Dreamers. I was immediately and warmly greeted by one of the owners. He was incredibly knowledgeable and offered several samples. I left with a nice English cheddar and a beautiful blue cheese. I will be back!

I love me some Wedge, man! It's a small place, but charming, and well-stocked with scrumptious treats. The staff is super friendly, and they deffo know their stuff. After some extensive sampling, we picked up three or four different cheeses, and couldn't resist impulse buying some truffle almonds (yum), oatcakes (yum yum), and fig jam (yum yum yum).

Simply amazing. The service is always friendly, and the staff if very knowledgeable, even for someone who doesn't know much about cheese you can walk in there with confidence that you will try some killer cheeses, that will be paired nicely and beautifully. Plus they let me take my plate to the bar across the street so I could sit outside and enjoy a lovely craft beer. Also their sandwiches are amazing, but get there before one if you want one, otherwise you will be out of luck. An accessible gourmet cheese shop done right. Yay!

I found my heaven of cheese! I was lookin for Sheeps milk cheese with truffles and they had something very similar. They let us taste so we can make our own platter and have us advice on type of wine to pair them with! I think they will need more sitting space very soon! Great staff, very knowledgable! I want to make my own cheese and they have a book for it!

I really wanted to like @WedgeCheeseShop , since I drove way out of my way to spend money here instead of my local grocery store. But I came in happy and left unhappy. The product is good, but the service is so chaotic and painfully slow it was rude even though they try to be friendly. I got in what I thought was a line only to watch them serve people that came in 5 minutes after me. I asked the lady about it and she said "we aren't usually this busy, you just have to raise your hand and say I next." Are you kidding me? Will never return.

Wedge is just a few blocks from my house, so I go there with some frequency. The staff is wonderful: knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. The selection of cheeses is a little intimidating (in a wonderful way), but I do wish there was more cured meat. Because, well, I like to get my charcuterie on. I agree that an on-premises wine and beer license would be fabulous. But hey, so would dancing girls and a trained elephant and a helicopter cheese delivery service. Rather than be disappointed by what this wonderful shop is not, I am straight up pleased-as-punch by what it is: a delightful place to see god in a wedge of fermented milk and a great addition to midtown.

I went into Wedge and had a great experience. I am glad that I don't have to drive all the way to Whole Foods anymore to get cheese that would not normally be offered in my neighborhood grocery store. I am glad that the cheese is cut directly off the wedge (allowing me to get exactly how much I want). I say "Way to go!" Of course there are going to be some kinks at first but why do all the "yelpers" have to jump on a new business and rip them apart. Maybe all the "yelpers" should find something else better to do with their time instead of thinking that every critique they have matters. Congrats to Wedge and I hope you succeed!

I'd give Wedge five stars based solely on the witty dry erase board ad outside their store alone. On the day I went it was a cheesy rendition of "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics, and there was no way I could resist a visit after getting the song stuck in my head. Luckily, these wordsmiths also happen to sell a lot of great cheese. The guy behind the counter was excited to tell me about all of the different varieties they sold based on my preferences. They also have great little crackers and accoutrements for their cheese, and even make sandwiches. As I was in town alone for just one night, my favorite feature was the case where they sell little pieces of the cheese so you can try out different kinds without having to invest in a big, expensive wedge. Because while some people use their nights in Reno to gamble or hit the town, my idea of a perfect night was settling in with some newly found cheddars... call me crazy!
