This place is good for the price of $7.95 for lunch buffet which they have everyday. Food is good and the naan was crispy and had a good amount of mince garlic on it. The chicken tiki masala is very tasty and I like dipping my naan in the lamb curry sauce. It's a decent selection of food that they serve in the buffet. It's was definitely worth the $ so I would come back for the lunch buffet next time I'm in town.

I have not eaten a whole lot of Indian food before, but if this is what it tastes like in my face, then I love it! The food is very flavorful. The garlic naan is worth it by itself to go eat at Indian Kabab. They also have a couple of full dinner options that you can get for 2 or 3 people or for a single person. It is so much food for the price! The little bowls they bring your food out in are deceiving too. They hold so much more food than you think. I always have tasty leftovers for the day after. The servers are very quick and efficient. The decor makes it a good place for a date or to have a casual dinner. And the bollywood videos are an awesome background. Come feed your face!!

My favorite Indian restaurant in Reno. The food is great, the space is pleasant, the service is decent, and the prices are good. They have an AYCE buffet from 11am-3pm, but I think the food is better at dinner. They have all the standard Indian-American restaurant entrees (including beef, for all you non-Hindu Indian food lovers). Every one I've tried has been solid, and the naan is consistently good. They also have some more out-of-the ordinary items, like the South Indian dosas (which are a bit greasy, but fun to eat). And while India Kabab isn't as good as some Indian joints I've encountered in larger metropolitan areas, it's good enough I don't miss those other places. If I had to come up with a complaint, it's that the Bollywood music videos (that are perpetually playing on their two wall-mounted televisions) sometimes show videos with only a couple of people singing and dancing rather than the few hundred dancers I've come to expect. That, and there's no cilantro chutney.

I got impressed by the rating and reviews; so with high hope I convinced my friend and family to try this place. We order multiple dishes and all of them were below average. We were surprised when we order Tandoori chicken and they got us deep fried chicken; tandoori mean it should have been grilled. The only combination that worked out for me was "Dal+rice" which my friend mention "this combo can never go wrong".

This place is perfect. I go there mostly for their lunch buffet. However whenever I have ordered take out my friends and I have devoured it satisfactorily. I love that they have plenty of vegetarian options for me to consume in the buffet. I love the onion chutney and if you love onions you have to try the Onion Kulcha bread (not part of the buffet, yet totally worth the extra cash).

Had the vege dinner for one. picked Shahi Navratan Korma (mixed vege) and tofu dish. Tofu was pretty good (my wife likes it), the Korma was decent (I liked the eggplant in there). The Samosa is great! Both of us love that! Naan though was a bit rubbery. Ordered Gosht Biryani (Lamb). It was not that good, too wet and the rice is a little hard. Overall though, it was a decent meal.

I totally agree with Sean G - "old, cold and tasteless". All the curries tasted alike and were most definitely recycled from leftovers. I asked the very surly waiter for another order of Naan. He nodded and disappeared - that was the last I saw of him. the dhal was extremely watered down. I disagree with the others about the price - this place is overpriced for the low grade food that they serve. I will not be returning.

Kinda hate to give 5 stars to anything as it should mean that a place is perfect, could not improve. But this is my favorite Indian restaurant in Reno. I love buffets...good ones at least and the food here is tasty and they give you a lot of variety. I also like the fact that they will seat you a booth if you are by yourself if its not too busy. And bonus points for the Bollywood videos on two screens, very entertaining! Food - 5 Service -4 always a little late with the naan Value - 5 its a $8.00 buffet at lunch! Ambiance - 4, really a nice place but no outside seating

I have just rediscovered dosas. Indian crepes with potato magic inside. Good for lunch, breakfast, dinner, drunk time. Orgasmo!

  • Fernley M.

First time there! Took an order of Chicken Korma to go with rice and Garlic Naan. I also got a very awesome Mango smoothie thing. It was really awesome! I don't know about service because I didn't stay. But I have to say I was very very pleased with the food. Will definetly recomend going. I'M EDITING!! I ended up going again and sat for the lunch buffet. Which was super yummy. HOWEVER, the service sucks...the waiter must have been having a bad, day. Did not smile at all, no hospitality. Very rude. So if I ever go again, it will only be for take out, I won't sit and stay ever again.

The food in this place is amazing. Everything in the lunch buffet looks like vomit, but it tastes like awesome. You will walk in there and they will give you a choice between garlic or regular naan, and either one is good, but garlic blows regular out of the park. All the curry dishes are good, but the chicken bone-in is a real pain in the butt. The only thing I would say that needs to change about this place is the service. That's the only reason I took off a star. Sometimes it can be super bomb, and other times you will be completely ignored, waiting to get a water refill or to get your naan, which you are supposed to have before you launch into the buffet. Spotty service aside, this place is so worth going to.

My diet goes out the window every time I come here. I have only eaten the lunch buffet which is a steal at $7.99. Very good selection of meat curries, tikka masala, vindaloo. The naan are very fresh out the oven, very light and flaky and comes with the buffet. Sunday buffet had goat meat which I have not seen during the weekdays. This is the only Indian restaurant I go to either in Reno or Bay Area.

I love their lunch buffet. Nice Variety, the bread is fresh and hot, and it's a bargain (I think it's around 8 dollars). I've been with a friend and we had a great time.

  • Maddie M.

I very much enjoyed our time there. The ambiance was my favorite part as it was clean, fancy enough and the culture was there enough to make me feel like I was at an Indian restaurant. The service was slow, which is very typical 75 percent of all Indian restaurants I've ever visited. The food wasn't the best I had, but we polished off as much as I could. My masala tea was unlike any I have ever had, as well, and not in a good way.

Had lunch buffet and was very disappointed! All dishes seemed watered down and the gulab jamuns seemed to have gone bad.

  • Kalyan A.

If I could give it a -5 star I would absolutely do. I had ordered a gosht curry and the lamb flesh was actually rotten. I guess that that in itself says a lot about this place. I have no I idea why this place has such a good rating. Do yourself a favor and avoid this joke of a restaurant.

  • Hilary S.

The food here is different but very good. As much as I like ethnic food I was kind if unsure about some of the food when we went for lunch because it looked different but plain as well. But once we sat down to eat I was very pleased with the food. The flavor was good and not too overpowering and service was nice as well. It definitely seems to be a popular place and I understand why. It's a little tight but it still is a good place. I would recommend it if you want something different. I know once we went, my boyfriend wanted to go all of the time.

Ordered off the menu Murg chili in medium, Chicken Tikka Masala also medium, Keema Naan and Garlic Naan. Husband had the buffet. Murg Chili was very good so was Tikka Masala. Husband said he will order off the menu next time as that food was better than the buffet. Next time I will get hot because the medium was more of a mild to me. Service was okay but that is not a restaurant I expect to be catered to. We didn't have one server it was more like they just walk around and take care of all tables. Dirty plates were quickly removed filled up the cups quickly. No problems there. The servers were not personally attentive but I don't want to chat with my waiter when I'm eating. I'll go back.

Great buffet but hard to compare with the Indian on the east coast.

If you need a great lunch, don't miss India Kabab's all-you-can-eat buffet. Just try not to fill up on the garlic naan and onion chutney--they're delicious!

  • Randy J.

I was a nervous tick from clicking the mouse on a 5th Star for India Kabab. When rice, usually just filler, can stand on its own merit--that tends to be a good sign. Portions = Good. Ingredients = Quality. While I have not had the buffet, there's nothing bad to say about the menu items. The menu is VERY large with various regional Indian dishes you would expect w/ lamb, chicken, seafood, beef, vegetarian, meat, etc., etc. If the thought of curry makes you sweat--then the menu chows you where they kick it up a notch. The times I've been here, the service/pride is evident. Count me amongst the reviewers who dig the Bollywood videos. The place appears family-owned, and sort of takes you somewhere else, but not in a cheesy or gimmicky way.

I guess this i the first review i am writing where i didn't taste the food but went with group. I am not sure why this place has been given 4 stars, as may be this is the best among there. The buffet options are very less and i have seen far better Indian buffets. The owner was kind enough to accommodate us by placing already eating couple to different table. Veggie options were very few and some comments were who make "Ghobhi"(cauliflower) in buffet, n veg options were no that many but looks like my friends were ok having what they have there. They only had one sweet dish which is strange for Indian buffets, minimum is 2 what i have seen most of the time. I am glad i didn't eat here and saved my $ eat somewhere else :) ....

Found this place while looking through Yelp's restaurant reviews in Reno while in town for the weekend. Went for dinner and had a nice spicy tomato chutney (like a really thick chunky salsa), surprisingly bland meat samosas (do not want), and a nice chicken vindaloo, if less spicy than I like. The TV was showing Bollywood videos, if there HAS to be a TV, this is the least objectionable.

Good food, nice atmosphere, clean, and great service. The mango lassi was Really good and the naan was super fresh. They had many choices, both vegetarian and with meat. There is also parking in the back in their lot.

Very good food here -- I would give this place 5 stars in the context of Indian food in Northern Nevada, where it has no peers. Especially great that they have dosa here, as sometimes the heavy sauces of the Northern Indian dishes are more than I want. I've been here several times, haven't tried everything but everything that i have tried has been excellent. Highly recommended and a great addition to Reno!

Food - Pathetic - Worst Indian food i had in US. non veg starter chicken kabab..worst.. Then came main course..all dishes were pathetic including daal ... Gulab jamun was horrible ... i dont know how they manage it....

I am from Singapore and grew up eating all kinds of food, and one of my favourites is Indian cuisine. You can't get as authentic as the food you get here. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive to our needs and the service was great. Always smiling. Will definitely come back!

I was really hoping this place would be the new Indian buffet joint. The good: super efficient robotic servers, bussers, etc. Food was ok. Not the biggest selection, about on par flavor wise with competitors. The bad: no Naan until we were almost done. No communication. Some gristle in the chicken. It wasn't horrible, and has a lot of potential, but I will probably not be back. It was also crowded. Good for them, but that was a little unpleasant as well.

I've only had one bad experience here, but other then that the food and staff have always been WONDERFUL! I haven't tried the lunch buffet... but that's because I like my food fresh and specific to my order. :-)

  • Elena B.

This has got to be one of the best lunch buffet deals in Reno. I think it's $7-9 for all you can eat. Theres curry, tikka masala, veggie dishes and soups. I wish they had more lamb/goat options, because that's the best type of tikka masala in my opinion. The naan is put on your table in a basket, so I don't think that it is all you can eat, which is probably good considering how much naan I'll eat if given the oppurtunity. The service is generally pretty good and the buffet clean. I've never come here for supper, but I hear it's pretty good.

There should be place for zero or negative ratings. One of the worst food I've ever had. Not to mention terrible service. They did not even serve the dessert part of the menu. We had to remind them for each and every item - right from items we ordered, cutlery. This restaurant should be banished...

Best Indian food in Reno! Amazing service and all you can eat for 8$ our family loves coming here on the weekends to get our tummies full!

I was startled by the female mannequin that greets you in the store entrance. When I first arrived here I got the feeling that the servers were annoying that we arrived 30 minutes before closing. However, we got a different server who was really friendly and who was helpful in making our orders. I ordered a dosa which was ginormous and tasty but had too much filling inside. I've eaten dosas at three other places before and they're a little less starchy because there's less potato filling inside. I had a hard time choosing what to get because the menu is so long! There were so many delicious choices. I also had a curry that was incredible.

We opted for the lunch buffet and found the food was terrible. By far the worst Indian restaurant I have ever set foot in. Naan is supposed to be served on the table, but we waited for eternity for them to get us any naan and just ended up eating the gravy by itself. I raised my hand to request for some naan, but this man who happened to be the restaurant manager saw me and just plain ignored. But he took good care to get lots of naan to the 'Non-Indian' couple sitting right next to our table. I might have requested 4-5 times for one of them to get us some naan. This is one rude staff here! Besides, there was a bunch of clean spoons kept on the table and one kid dropped a spoon on the floor. This waiter just picks it up and places it back on the table. That was amazing! I have been to Reno a lot of times and there are better Indian restaurants out there. Please don't go to this place.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the lunch buffet. The food is amazing. They did just raise the price form $7.99 to $8.99. I think it is still a great deal. You can get a crappy fast food hamburger meal for the same price. Why would you!!!!

  • Karthik V.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. It was a really crowded dinner, and they seem to have no idea how to handle a crowd of that size, the only thing that they were able to do was seat more people. After they did seat more people taking their order and serving it was not their highest priority. I had to wait 30 minutes after being seated for someone to take my order, and then I had to wait another hour for half my order to arrive, and another hour for the rest of my order to arrive, this was only after asking all the waitstaff several times as to where the rest of my food was. And all of the food that arrived was undercooked and the taste was unextraordinary. All of the waiters were terrible people that behaved very rude to all of the customers. I would not recommend that anyone go here ever again.

As far as Indian goes, this place is just fair. I found the tikka masala and tandoori just regular, nothing outstanding or extra palatable. Definitely not the worst Indian I have had, but defiantly not the best either. Service was pretty good, prices fair.

They didn't even have butter chicken, uhmm was told that was this was one of the best Indian places. Seriously felt hella gross after eating and the people stare to much. Never again will I come here

I don't usually do reviews but I just had to. Good Bye to this restaurant. I am never going there again. If I could give 0 or half star I would give that. I have tried many Indian restaurant all over US. I know they don't have the best customer service compared to many other restaurant and I do not expect much on that side when I go to Indian restaurant. Not having any expectation on service, still I was hugely disappointed here. I have been here couple of time and I didn't care about service much. To begin with food was okay. Some were good, some not so good. Food presentation was also nice. But I do not know why the server keep coming to our table and picking up plate dished which still has food. They just come there and pick up. 1st time we ignored, second time we ignored and third time we had to say we are still eating, there is food in the plate then he just puts the plate back and leave. No Sorry no nothing. And this was not buffet but evening service. Next we find hair in the food. We show it to server and he is like noooooo. that is not hair. then he put his finger and try to pick it up. He was not ready to agree that was hair and constantly tried to pick it up. I am pretty sure, if he was able to pick it up, he would have asked us where. Now eat. After few attempt to pick it up acting what where, he finally agreed and pick the plate and left. I was able to see he showed to the lady in the restaurant who looked like owner or manager of the restaurant and she didn't even bothered to say anything. We were waiting to hear something from them. They took the food which we were no longer interested to eat but was waiting what would they say. After a while the server came, he place the bill in the table and left. We were what just happened... no sorry no nothing. Not even a word. I was not expecting them to replace the food or anything but that was a huge disappointment. Looked like they didn't even cared. Having Bad service is totally different from don't give a damn attitude. I am still surprised that this restaurant have good rating which make me think was it something I did???

I usually review most worst restaurants with at least 3 stars. But this restaurant deserves 1star. Waiters are impatient and rude. Even the food is worse. we ordered chefs combination platter, mutton and lamb biryani out of which none are good. The biryanies are riced mixed curries. We almost all the food items.

  • Zachary D.

This place was delicious! My friend and I ordered the dinner for two. We got a veggie samosa each, coconut soup, malai kofta (veggie balls) for her & chicken tikka masala for me, an order of rice, naan & you get to choose a desert. This was so much food for how much you spend. I think we spent 20 each and took some leftovers home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good Indian food. I was looking for a good place for a while & now I will definitely be a regular!

The food is amazing. It is great to find an authentic indian dinning experience. I have frequented the resturant for years and bring clients and friends all the time. I love all the unique dishes and great atmosphere. They expanded in the last year. This is a great place to have a party or a dinner or business lunch meetings . I will continue to come and give my business as long as they are open. I recommend that everyone should come and enjoy this delicious food. Great atmosphere for family and great price for the quality and portion sizes

Good bang for your buck. Wanting to have buffet in Reno that is not located in a Casino and something different from the usual fare, I searched Yelp for buffets and this placed popped up. I just wanted to escape having to smell another cigarette smoke that is extremely suffocating. I called and discovered lunch was only $7.99. Why so cheap, I wondered. I read the other reviews and in Yelpers I trusted. Located just a mile or so from the strip and parking is located in their back lot. Area looked clean and safe so we proceeded inside. Interior and furniture looked nice and they had a bar in the back and the buffet table on the other side. One thing I noticed was there was not one Indian soul working in the restaurant so I had a slight hesitation but quickly vanished once I glanced on the buffet table and saw something familiar. The server asked us if we were there for the buffet and told us to grab a plate. The server started us with some Garlic Naan bread that was very good. They have the usual Chicken Tandoori, Tikki Masala, Lamb Curry, Potatoes, Rice, Veggies, Chutneys etc...that are a staple in a typical AYCE Indian cuisine. We were not disappointed one bit. All the familiar flavors, spices and texture were present and very comforting. Service was also exceptional as they kept refilling our glasses without even asking. I probably had one plate too many (I had three) since I had to drop a deuce in their very clean toilet. Yes it was nice and clean, and I know it's T.M.I. But it is what it is! My only negative comment would be that I was looking forward to some Bollywood movies as mentioned in other reviews, but it was a Sunday and all their monitors had on the Steelers vs. Redskins on TV. All is forgiven, except I couldn't stop comparing the throwback jerseys the Steelers were wearing looked similar in color to what I left in the......never mind. Oh yeah....I'd come here again. But next time I'll keep it to two plates.

We have been here couple of times. First time was 2 years back. That time place was small and food was good, however they have expanded and quality of food has gone down considerably. Since then we have tried the buffet and dinner, and we had similar experience both the time. The only salvation is that food is cheap.

Loved the food and the great company. Everything from the daal to saag and chicken tikka masala was spot on. Also, the mango lassi was delicious and not so sweet, just the way I like it. :). I enjoyed the papadum and the variety of chutneys (tamarind, mint, and onion). We met up with friends and had the lunch buffet there. The only thing is the rice was not fully cooked (according to my friends). I myself didn't have any; just filled up on the scrumptious garlic naan. Hoped the naan would come out faster but it was no biggie.

I'm moving from 4 stars to 3. The place is still brilliantly authentic in both customers and staff. Most of the food is top notch. Love the fresh Indian beers. However it tasted better about 1/2 year ago. New chef?

I've gone there for the lunch buffet a few times (6-7) over the last three years or so, and it is pretty much always the same: cheap pricing and satisfactory food choices. I am not able to actually TELL YOU which dishes I decided to try, but each buffet probably has offered the same selection(s) of dishes anyway. The food quenches my curry craving, and I walk out the door with a full tummy and having (typically) spent less than $15.00 (wine and buffet) so I cannot complain too loudly. My wife has often gone with me and she really does not like curry, so she typically will drink a glass of wine and "sample" the bread and a little bite here and there if she can find anything on my plate that is not curry based. Good luck with that! All in all, the meal is worth the trip and the food represents (I'm sure) an authentic taste of India. THE ONLY NEGATIVE: Maybe it is a "cultural thing", but the servers, staff and/or management don't seem too friendly. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, or whatever....but I do prefer dining in an environment where I feel welcomed and appreciated as a consumer. They just never seem to smile, to offer a welcome once you enter and are seated, nor a thank you after the bill is paid. Is it just me?

I had the Irishman with me and he was craving Indian. Like the recent meal we had at a Mexican restaurant, he was stumped by the difference in the same ethnic food served in another country. No, Skibbereen, the Indian food in Ireland is not the same as the Indian food in America, just like the Indian food in America is not the same as the Indian food as in India. That said, this was hands-down his favorite meal during his three weeks in Tahoe. We ordered a variety of dishes - vegetarian samosas, garlic naan, chicken biryani and the mixed grill Tandoori, all for under $32. Everything was SOOOOO good. Service was a little bit cheerier than in the past. Wish I lived close by - I'd eat at the lunch buffet more often.

Excellent Indian Restaurant. You can come for buffet from 11-3, or dinner from 3 to 10 or so. Bustling and packed for the lunch crowd, and I'm told the price is just $8 a plate (chana mushrooms, chicken tikki masala, eggplant curry) and tons more, tons of fresh fruits and chutneys. We waited to get a to go order at lunch time and were served the best salted lassi I have had in 10 years seasoned with pepper, cumin and mint. We took home molai kofta, shahi paneer, shrimp with tomato and cocunut and a dosa filled with potatoes and lamb. The staff were helpful and kind, and accommodated my gluten free diet without even consulting a menu. The staff knew what I could have and since I couldn't have naan, I was offered papadum which is made from gram or chickpea flour. I can't wait to go back. The best thing on the menu is the service, the lassi and the wonderful chutneys.

Very hot onion chutney. The best tamarind sauce. Chicken salad was just okay. The texture of the chicken was not good. I did love the flavor of the chicken tikka masala. The coconut tomato soup was incredible. I would go back for vegetarian items.

Initially, I was quite annoyed that the server seated my partner and I at a small table with booths available. I understand wanting to save the tables for larger groups, but the 'two person' table was TINY. Not only that, it was cluttered to the max. It was very claustrophobic. I ordered Thai tea, and was a brought a small cup of hot thai tea, when what I actually wanted was a cup of chilled Thai tea. 9 times out of 10 you see it served on ice. Server didn't bother to clarify. I also ordered Naan bread, which never showed up. Boo #3 for the service. The food was pretty good. Very spicy and flavorful, and the way it was served was interesting. The waiter brought out a candle, and set the metal bowl of food upon the candle. My lamb curry and my partners coconut chicken were nearly identical, save for the color of the meat. We sampled eachothers dishes and couldn't really tell a difference. Total for 2 entree's and two drinks came out to $30. They tried to charge for the Naan bread, which was never served. So eh. The food is good, if not a bit homogenous. Service really needs improvement.

I would give zero star to this. It's a place for people who don't know what Indian food is. The oil in the food was stinking really bad. Service is also very bad. Not recommended at all.

Went here Saturday night with hubby and we thought it was great! I was a bit worried when I saw the huge selection and thought its all going to be reheated but everything was fresh and delicious. The service was kinda funny, at first they kept asking if we were ready to order and after we got the Lassi and an appetizer they seemed to forget about us for a while but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine. When we asked for hot spicy she gave us a funny look and made sure we could handle it :) I think they must read the reviews because we got lots of water and they kept asking if the food was ok.

PHOTOS UPLOADED This cuisine has always intrigued us. They offer $7.95 lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week. For the price, we decided to give a try. The dishes are all flavorful but we found out that we are not fans of curry. This place gets really busy so get there early. PROS: ~ Garlic naan is tasty. ~ Clean and relaxed ambiance. ~ Dishes are flavorful. ~ They accept American Express. ~ Locally owned. ~ Plenty of parking in the back. CONS: ~ Long line for the buffet. ~ Do not expect any smile from the staff. ~ Service needs improvement. We had to keep calling for our server for drinks and naan refills. ~ I wish there is a short description of ingredients on each entree'. Each entree' was labeled but we were not sure of the ingredients.

Outstanding service, the naan was amazing, I really enjoyed the variety of sauces and flavors. I had the kabob grill which was cooked & seasoned well.

Authentic! Nice atmosphere! Huge menu with everything you could want. As soon you sit down, they give you a big water (which I appreciate) and give you complimentary starter of Popadums and chutney. Very fast service as well. The Pakoras were awesome!

The food is great. Both off the menu and the buffet. However, the language barrier is a challenge. Our server didn't understand our request, he sent someone else over. Then one server had half the order, the other server had the second half. That meant our food came in shifts. But, we didn't get the separate checks we asked for.

Definitely one of the best Indian Restaurants I've been to. Curry was nice and spicy (if you want, you can choose your heat level), Naan was soft and fresh, and the service was great. If you like sweet drinks, I highly recommend the Mango Lassi. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the parking situation can get a bit difficult. Narrow alley and heavy traffic can worsen the situation.

I prefer to come here on weekends for the buffet for a couple of reasons. First, on weekends often times they feature chili chicken and its great! And next, because you get far more bang for your buck at the buffet. Their normal portion sizes tend to be on the smaller side. That said, most of their food I find very pleasing. The mushroom masala is one of my faves, and IM NOT one who usually opts for meatless anything! It tends to be quite warm inside. So wear layers!

Good, basic Indian food, by people who know their stuff. I strongly suspect that the few people dissing this restaurant are working at one of the other, lesser, Indian restaurants in town.

I've been here a few times before but not recently until a few days ago. I came here with a few co-workers who really like it. We were seated quickly as it wasn't too busy (11:30AM). Service was pleasant, we certainly weren't ignored but a little more friendliness would have been nice. Also I don't remember the mannequin the last time I came in here but its really creepy... We immediately set off to go to the buffet shortly after we were seated and I was pleasantly surprise at the quality. I think I grabbed at least one serving of everything to try. The currys and marsalas were good. The tandori chicken was a little dry but had a lot of flavor. My only beef was with the naan, we weren't given a choice of plain or garlic - just given garlic. All in all though, it was good indian food for a VERY reasonable price for lunch so I will definitely be back.

Have been to so many Indian restaurants across California and this is the worst restaurant i have ever seen. Went as a group and thought we can order different items to enjoy the night's dinner. But it ended up in a nightmare. Should I say the service is also poor. it took 25 mins for them to take the order. And when we said bring the items as fast as you can since we have kids who are hungry, we were told that all things will come at one time.. Looks like it is their policy. The policy didn't cover the customer satisfaction. that is the saddest part. If you have been to any other Indian restaurant anywhere in CA, USA... then dont ever try this. If you have not been tasted any Indian food so far... then dont go here it will be give a bad taste of the nice Indian food. Except a chicken bisibillabath if you order a chicken briyani. Expect a mutton bisibillabath if you order a lamb briyani. I am not joking. its true. To the hotel management: * Please try to have some Indian chefs. * Try to taste your own briyani and have a pulav and have a bisibillabath. And then see the difference. you wont see any difference. Honestly this deserves not even a single star from our experience.

My boyfriend and I love this place. We walk all the way from the University to get there! It is the best swordfish curry I have ever had. The lunch buffet is cheap and overall very good, but it seems they put more effort into their dinner entrees. Can't wait to go back!

Just had the lunch buffet. Holy cow was that good! Fresh warm naan was scrumptious. The tandoori chicken was delicious. The chicken saag was yummy as well as the lentils. This is also a lunch buffet so I am a little more generous with the rating than a formal sit down, high end Indian restaurant. I am rating for what it is. The other Indian places in town that I have tried are really disappointing. So yes I think it is pretty darn good.

stopped by for a buffet lunch today with some friends. one friend was not feeling good so he decided not to eat. he didn't even drink his water. when the bill came, he was charged for the buffet lunch. what a poor decision on the restaurant part. we will NEVER eat there again. i thought you bought the buffet meal, not the seat. i guess they wanted him to go to the car and wait for us. bad bad bad

Great and fast service. Lunch buffet was delicious, naan the same (yet no need for salt). Huge verity of vegetables (we had 2 vegans in our party), of chicken, meat, and some deserts (not indian btw). One note, the pakora was unacceptable. There are better recipes of pakora and the chef needs to adopt one (any one...) We will return.

Of the Indian food in town I seem to visit these guys most frequently. Over the years I've had many positive experiences with both their lunch buffet and their sit down dinner. Dinner time, they allow you to adjust the spice level and I very much like that.

First time eating here was for dinner with some friends a few months back. Really enjoyed the food albeit pricey. I've come back since then and have had the same service experience. Servers look like they hate their jobs and that poor attitude is presented to the customers. Once I left a pretty generous tip (despite the poor service) and told the server to keep the change and his reply was "ya" and walked away with it. I left discouraged and offended. Because of this reason, they have lost my business. The two stars is for the food since I enjoyed it.

Had a great dining experience at India Kabab and Curry Restaurant. I enjoyed the flavorful, hot, and fresh vegetarian items from their lunch buffet such as the tomato coconut soup and the tofu matter as well as their iced sweet mango lassi. Yummy !! Sad, really that this is the first review I've written for this restaurant as it has been delightfully delicious every other time I've eaten here. Unfortunately this last time was just terrible and handled horribly. I ordered dinner after a long day to be delivered by foodtoyou.com and have eaten every dish before that I ordered. I was missing an order of naan bread but the worst part is that I like everything mild, which is NEVER a problem here...until this last Tuesday night when all of my food with the exception of the tandoori chicken was level 10 blow out your esophagus hot! I called foodtoyou to explain I couldn't eat anything but the chicken and bread and was told that after they contacted the restaurant about the issue could only credit me $20 on a $95 order, stating that the restaurant would credit for the missing bread and two dishes but not all of them! This is extremely disappointing as I have always enjoyed eating here but I don't want to waste my money on dishes I cannot even eat. Sad, India Kebab & Curry that you wouldn't take care of the rest of the order that went into my trash can. Don't think I'll return.

I've been going there for years, and only have had the buffet at lunch. The restaurant is very clean, and there is ample seating. The waitstaff is polite, and very attentive. The buffet price is great, and the food is always good and plentiful. I haven't been there in a few months and am going back today. I see that people recently have complained and given only a one star rating ~ I hope that I won't be disappointed.

This place is like the place you take someone who has only ever had one boring type of food in their lives. The magical place hidden away that opens up a whole world of incredible-edible-delectable options to this person. The place that changes their tongue's life FOREVER. I could eat here everyday and never get tired of it. There's this Lamb "Korma" dish they have...lamb pieces with jasmine rice in a creamy and spicy coconut sauce that is pretty much the reason my taste buds exist, if not for the orgasmic chicken masala they also serve (we're talking full-on "When Harry Met Sally" I'll have what she's having ORGASMIC food of amazing-ness). And we can't talk about the Samosas or my computer screen will explode... Do you have that vegetarian friend, and you're dying to go somewhere other than (while also awesome, but limiting for omnivores) Pneumatic Diner? This place is your spot. You can both eat here in harmony...and if you make it to the lunch buffet, your harmony is only 10 bucks a person. Otherwise, menu items are more expensive...but worth it. I cannot stress that enough. The few things that dropped this little slice of perfect down to a 4-star are these. The service is in need of some assistance. Indian food is (gloriously) spicy, and this requires much water. When your waiter disappears and you dive head first into a level 8 Curry Vindaloo, your relationship with water becomes the most important in your life, and it's provider even more so. Ours, on two separate occasions, has been sadly absent. The parking situation sucks. That's about all I can say about that. Overall? Please, for the sake of your family, your sanity, and your tongue, I BEG you to try this place.

Why being in line for buffet? India Kabab and Curry is another good choice for you when you are in Reno. Highly recommended, just only 1 mile away from Hotels/Casinos. This restaurant is quite an extensive menu, try it yourself and you will love it. Sometimes traveling can goes along well with good food.

Kabab and Curry has been the only Indian food I have eaten in Reno - however, I am not new to Indian food and enjoy it weekly back home. I called ahead after reviewing the online menu inquired about Chili Chicken as it is a favorite of mine and wasn't on the on the menu. The chef was more than happy to make it for us. Arriving I must admit that the ambiance was very nice, I am used to very small establishments back home so the spacious dining room and tasteful decor was a bonus. We ordered some of our favorites: Murg Tikka Masala Tandoori Chicken Chili Chicken Mutter Paneer Aloo Gobhi Naan The food was amazing - as good if not better than those restaurants I frequent while at home. Of the eight of us only two had any experience with Indian food. For those in our party new to the Indian food experience I was very pleased that they were shocked and amazed at how savory and delicious the food was. Like I always say, "the best way to explore a culture is through the stomach!" Hope you find this fine establishment as wonderful as we did.

Delicious buffet. Cheap too! ($7.95) I love the Bollywood videos playing in the background. Chicken masala was the winner for me today, which made a great dipping sauce for the fantastic naan. Cabbage pakora was a unique treat that I hadn't seen at Indian restaurants before.

We had dinner for the first time and thought this place was great. We started with vegetable samosas and they were great - cooked perfectly - loved the tamarind sauce! I had the Tandoori Tikka Chicken and it was cooked perfectly - juicy yet still with some crispiness on the outside from the tandor oven. My husband had beef vindaloo and while it had good taste he thought it was just a bit over cooked as it was a bit chewy. My onion Kulcha was also very good.

I have only been to this restaurant twice and never witnessed poor service like some of the other reviewers mentioned. I was in great company both times though, so maybe I didn't notice the service other than that they were non-intrusive. Regarding the food, both the buffet and menu foods were great! I love Indian food and this place gives you all the choices you would hope for. Tasty food at reasonable prices!

I had the vegetarian dinner at this place. The food was ok. The owner (female) was really rude and arrogant. She was observing while we were eating and she asked the servers to turn off the televisions. One of the server mentioned that they do not serve masala papadum whereas they had it in the menu. We got the masala papadum which had 3/4 dices of tomato and onion on it. I would not recommend going to this place.

OMG. Is Reno really down to one Indian Food restaurant? The Taj Mahal is now listed as closed and the place that took over Mantra is nowhere to be seen on my current online search for Reno Indian Food restaurants. ----- Ate the Indian Buffet at India Kabob & Curry last weekend and was less then impressed. Both the potato dish, and a corn and onion based dish had a distinct "chemical" flavor. I'm wondering if this shortfall is due to the fact that they have virtually no competition left in Reno. Unfortunate that the quality varies so much at Indian Kabab. Sometimes it's worthy of 4 stars and other times it's more in the 2 star range. To bad the people who use to cook for the now closed Mantra couldn't hook up with someone who knows how to provide good management and good customer service.

I absolutely love this place. Full disclosure, though: I've never been to another Indian place in Reno. I found one that I love, and I remain loyal to it. I've carried out, eaten dinner there, and tried the lunch buffet as well. Each time the food has been piping hot and delicious. The lunch buffet for $7.95 is a steal. Can't wait to return!

We were on our way to Lake Tahoe and very hungry. stopped here for buffet closer to 3pm. The food was terrible! I am a vegetarian - couldn't find a single meaningful dish. The veg korma was made with frozen veggies and some random sweet sauce. The dal was BAD. There was a rajma-potato dish and so sweet corn in spices (??)...these didn't make any sense. Had never eaten these combos before. The gravy was watery and bad tasting. I was so hungry and disappointed that I finally ate my nan with the chicken gravy. Now that and the fresh nan were two decent things there. The rest of the food was so terrible and that I gave my frank feedback and walked out of there feeling sick. This was the worst Indian food I have eaten in the US so far. BTW, I am from India, so I know quite a lot about Indian food cooked right. My apologies to the owners for this rash review. I hope they will consider revising their menu and adding some real flavors in their foods.

I need to browse the dictionary to find a word to describe this restaurant..Its the King of worst...We happened to look for yelp reviews and went there..We could hardly find any Indian's here..So good reviews I guess...With the hope of getting good food we went.. Very poor service.. The staff came to take the order after a very long time.. And we complained him that we have been waiting long.. The food he brought was very bad.. Briyani was bad than normal pulao...No garam masala... Dunno what kind of briyani is it.. Was like chicken pulao...Bad...Chicken tikka was sour.. We complained to the staffs.. They were seen making fun of us... Useless fellows.. It doesn't deserve even a single star but no way to post without star..

I eat here about once a month and like it but they really knocked it out of the park today. The spinach and garlic soup was fantastic and I got seconds. Same for the cauliflower and potato dish. Perfectly cooked and the cauliflower tasted like it was picked this morning. It was lightly seasoned with something, I'm not sure what. Saffron? And this was the buffet. Most of the rest of the buffet was good today. As usual, the tandoori chicken was a let down. I guess it's not economical to do a quality tandoori chicken for the buffet.

Food rating: 3 stars (It's OK, not the best) Customer Service/Ordering on the Phone: 1-2 stars Eat here again?: NO. They could've done better with their Customer Service (i.e. admit that they're WRONG when they took the phone order INCORRECTLY) I called in and ordered for 1) garlic naan 2) masala dosa 3) India Kabab Curry Special Dinner (I asked for 2 vege entrees: saag paneer & aloo chole, then I asked for tea instead of dessert) ________________________________ Their website says: India Kabab Curry Special Dinner $17.95 For One Soup, vegetable samosa, sizzling Tndoori chicken, chicken tikka, seekh kabab, choice of en trees, (excluding tandoori specials) Rice pullao, naan and dessert or tea/coffee. ________________________________ When I got there, they made "India Kabab Curry vegetarian Thali" instead of the INDIA KABAB CURRY SPECIAL that I asked for. I was confused because I *specifically* said on the phone INDIA KABAB CURRY SPECIAL. (I was splitting this meal with someone who wanted the tandoori chicken). Meat =/= vegetarian. Even though I asked for 2 vege entrees, it could mean that I wanted the Kabab curry special + 1 entree (that happens to be vegetarian). THEY didn't want to admit to their mistake even though I said to them, I ordered the INDIA KABAB CURRY SPECIAL. They suggested ordering an additional entree and knocking off $5 from that order to make up for the order. I was expecting them to say that they were sorry and offer to remake the food correctly as I ordered. BUT NOOOOOO, they didn't do that. Not wanting to make a fuss in front of the diners, we agreed to do that and waited for the additional food to be cooked. They were at least courteous enough to offer mango lassi (which I politely declined b/c I don't like mango lassi). In the end, we spent more money on dinner and they didn't even give us the tea that I requested on the phone. Instead of the tea, they put in some sort of white dessert...which no one ate (I don't like dessert that looks like Elmer's glue). Food quality: It's ok. I've had waaaaay better Southern Indian cuisine. I was disappointed at the food after seeing 75 reviews & 4-stars. It was mediocre. It's Indian cuisine that's been watered down to fit the palate of Americans who can't eat spicy food.

This place never disappoints. We always order the samosas which have the best mint/pea dipping sauce. It has the right balance of heat. We also always order rhe chicken tikka masala being it is my husbands favorite, wonderful flavor. Their service may not be th best, but I can look past it because their food is so good. I don't know how many times we had to wait forever to get our check, very annoying.

It is not spicy, otherwise it is very decent food in Reno. **** I have had confirmation from a credible insider source that the owner exploits staff (underpay, overwork) and takes ALL of their tips. BTW so does the other place, Flavors of India. I know this probably happens at other restaurants, but I am eating Indian at home from now on.

I've been coming to the India Kabob for several years (and still don't know if the spelling is Kabob or Kabab). For someone who reviewed this as a 3 star, stating they're an "LA snob" - they've definitely got to give this place another chance. I've had Indian in Manhattan that doesn't touch this place. I've only ever come for the lunch buffet and there's not been a single visit that I've not left over stuffed and completely satisfied. As soon as we enter, we are directed to a table. The servers are all native to India but it is very easy to communicate with them. They ask us what kind of Naan we would like. When it comes out, it is piping hot (ass another reviewer stated) Garlic or plain - and we've even ordered it with no butter when we are with Vegan friends. In fact, they've been very friendly and helpful at pointing out which items on the buffet are dairy/animal free so that the Vegans don't have any doubts. I give them a 5 star plus for their willingness and understanding to accommodate special diets. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the decor (ok, except maybe the booths are a bit out of place, but it works!) My friends and I always joke about the music video that play on the big screen televisions. There are a couple of items that are always on the buffet, including Chicken Masala (mmmmmm) and Tandori Chicken (which is the only dish I've not cared for - I just find so many other options so much more delicious!) Having been often enough for the buffet, I've learned what I like and could even order from a dinner menu now. I've figured out that Aloo is potato. I've love every Aloo dish I've ever tried. I've also figured out that I **LOVE** Masala - the Chicken, the Veggie or the Chick pea. (which I am going to take a stab and say is Gobhi?) I also love the Saag Paneer, the Tikki Aloo, the vegetable samosa... and today I tried a "chili chicken" dish that was outstanding. I could go on and on. I highly recommend India Kabob - in case you couldn't tell. I've introduced many friends to Indian food here, and the buffet is the perfect way for them (and you) to learn what you like. I always recommend that for their first trip to the buffet, they try a small dabble of everything. If they only take a small bit and don't like it ... no loss. Then they have tried lots of different delicious items and can go back for more of what they did like.

Started going here again recently. I really like the Gosht Korma (lamb) and have now had it like three times in a row. Yum. They are also really good about being open till 10pm.--very important and totally awesome when you have had a long day of work. That alone is enough to look past the sullen wait staff and just enjoy my food. And the bizarre videos, lol.

I saw that this place had a high rating so I went to give it a try but was quite underwhelmed. I contemplated between 1 or 2 stars but realized that of all the Indian restaurants I ever ate at, this was the worst in terms of food but wasn't horrible so decided on 2. I wouldn't want to eat there again. I ordered Masala tea to start (love the stuff) and this was the only thing that was actually awful. Probably just a bad batch because there is no way any Indian person would drink this stuff. Just tasted like bland milk. I think someone just forgot to add enough tea and poured in milk. Their curries are not bad but nothing to rave about. Just very average. The basmati rice was also pretty plain. The highlight would have been the apricot naan. Good flavor and cooked just right.

Me and my girlfriend went to this place a couple months back and it will be the first and only time visiting here. To start off we weren't greeted at all and we sat there for 10 minutes not exaggerating without them even giving us water. We ordered the tea (we tea tea at every restaurant that has it available) it was like water/tea/milk we both tried it and it was horrible it was like they had a witch in the back brewing socks and underwear with this. We also had the orange yogurt drink which is very foreign tasting but good ( happen to be the best thing we ordered ) they give you thin looking chips served with this red matter it was like rotten pigs blood (do not eat that crap) . Dinner we ordered curry chicken to share and it tasted as good as it looked (diarrhea) also by this time we had been dealing with three different waiters like they were pawning us off on each other. To make matters worse I never got a refill on water which should be mandatory to help consume this nasty food. There wasn't very many people eating here and when we were done the waiter started cleaning out table before we were even gone. Never go here unless you want to deal with ignorant Indian people and half-ass food.

This is the best resturaunt I have EVER been to in my life. I have never had a bad meal here. The staff is always so courteous and the food is just completely out of this world delicious. Try the Chicken Tikka Masala and the garlic naan. They also make these little desserts that look like donut holes drenched in syrup which are such a delight. The Mango Lassi drink is a must! Also, this place has a wonderful buffet for lunch and it is very low priced for everything you get. I hope that India Kabab and Curry stays in Reno forever!

Went for the lunch Buffet ...The dining area is small, and they were quite busy for lunch on a Wednesday , but we were seated immediately. The food selection was nice and the flavors were superb. I failed to find anything I didn't care for. The naan was ok, kind of doughy and Im used to a crispy chewy garlic naan(from Indian Garden) . The wait staff were on top of things but were not to friendly, not saying they were rude but they were aloof.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Reno. I'm not very picky when it comes to Indian food but this is still my first choice. I always get the chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, and garlic naan. I've tried some of their other dishes and they were great as well. Never had a problem with the service either.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the downtown area. The variety of the menu offerings is immense. Don't let the outside fool you. The interior of the restaurant is spotless and it is clear the owners take pride in running the place. An added bonus is the Indian MTV station running on the flatscreens. I could not understand a word but left feeling I get where the Indian music scene is. What a bonus.

Love their buffet! I often go there on Saturdays and enjoy it most of the time. The service is pretty dang good as well. Sometimes we don't get our naan until the end of the meal, but other than that, no complaints. Dinner is a bit expensive though, wish it were as good of a deal as the buffet!

The food was great, portion sizes was decent and staff was more than attentive to all our needs. The only thing I would have negative to say was the day we went the AC wasnt working and if you know anything about spicy food then you should know youre going to be heating from the inside out and having no AC didnt make us to happy, we ate fast and got out of there. But I would recommend this place for anyone that can appreciate Indian Food................

I've only ever had dinner here before, so when I drove by the other day looking for a place to lunch and saw the sign "$6.95 Lunch Bufffet," I was all, "Yum! Cheap and delicious!" And it was. The food was fresh and tasty, and you just can't beat that price. Although this restaurant is in a fairly inconvenient location, it is really nice, with lovely decor and good service. They've recently added two plasma televisions with which to air Indian music videos--videos which teetered very precariously on the border of soft-core porn, if you're into that sort of thing. It can be hard to find parking for this place, but overall well worth the effort for a delicious and ridiculously cheap lunch.

  • Scott L.

The atmosphere is pretty nice, including the bar which has nice lighting. The service is quite attention. The food is excellent. Great saag. We usually don't get Aloo Gobi, since it usually isn't very good, but we were very pleased with the doneness of the cauliflower and the potatoes. Potatoes are so hard to get right, but they do. The spices are quite perfect. All in all, a great meal and the prices are very good.

We came here for a buffet after all the good reviews. VERY DISAPPOINTING FOR indian food. Not many vegetarian varities, the vegetable did not taste that great. The raita was sour. it had gone bad. Maybe it was the heat or what. But i did not like it. I was craving some gulab jamun. But it was probably the worst gulab jamun that ive ever had.

This place serves good food & reasonably priced. I like owners even though I do not know them personally. They welcome customers very nicely. Their lunch buffet is very good price and I love their chicken curry and beef curry. Their naan is always tasty. Our (with my husband) favorite is always garlic flavor. I had new Coconut Tomato soup today. I loved it. We visit here for dinner too. I personally like their serving dishes. Their curry comes in a Indian metal dish with a base with candle in it. I tend to eat a vegetable curry here in evening. My favorite is eggplant curry. My husband had swordfish curry last time we were here for a dinner. I never had fish curry before. Now, it is one of my new favorite.

Amazing food, good price, only complaint was the service was a bit slow. All in all I absolutely recommend this place for some genuine Indian food. It was x5 better than any other Indian restaurant I have been to.

So we finally got to try this place out after reading "rave" reviews. I guess it did not meet my expectations. While good, I found that their version of medium spicy not spicy at all. Also while the Naan was nice and flakey the size was on the small size. Lastly the Tandoori mixed grill meats had some "fillers". I guess for the overall price to quality...I was not overly impressed.

I love this place! You tell them you want your food spicy and it is REALLY spicy! Service is good the naan is to die for

I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It was better than average but nothing too special. The chicken was very tender but it tasted a bit fake to me, just a bit too soft as if it was processed somehow. I have been to at least 50 indian restaurants including 3 weeks in India so I guess I am a bit picky.

I absolutely love this place. The food is absolutely amazing, and you just can't beat the price. I highly recommend the Chicken Masala as it's the best I've had anywhere. The staff is moderately friendly, in that Indian restaurant sort of way (they mostly leave you alone, which I like). The portions are big enough that I always have lunch for the next day, and somehow this stuff manages to seem even tastier reheated. The naan here can't be beat. It's huge and doughy and wonderful. I agree that parking royally sucks, but that's definitely something I'm willing to deal with. Actually, a lot of the time I'll just phone ahead an order so I can pull up right out front (in the yellow zone) and take my delicious food home with me. If you're gonna eat Indian in Reno, eat it at India Kabab.

I'm not really sure what to make of this place. It's one of three Indian restaurants that I frequent in Reno, and it's a somewhat mixed bag. The food is uniformly good but not uniformly great; the table service strangely unenthusiastic, almost disinterested. It's not that the service isn't good, but it would be difficult to imagine people more bored than the staff of this place; if not for the service I'd give it a four. Completing the strangeness of the experience are the large screens playing Bollywood music videos, which are strangely difficult to avoid watching in a train-wreck sort of way. There's off-street parking but it requires navigating one-way streets or alleyways.

Well we hit up Yelp because Indian Food was our second choice for dinner. This place ended up being good. However, It wasn't the best Indian place I have been to. Nothing we got was signature in anyway. Food was 3 stars. It was certainly crowded too! They lost one star for ambiance because the place was swarming with Hipsters. But they earned a star because they had the most convoluted Indian music videos on TV. I think I saw a buff Indian singer dressed as a 1980s Hulk Hogan.

This place is Soooooooo... Good! Definately coming back... Good date restaurant if you're date is into that kinda thing... I have to agree it was cheap, I ended up ordering too much food and ate some for breakfest this morning.... The service was very cool.... they have a real good atmosphere.... I could probably sleep on the side walk out front

I am writing this review as I am eating food at this awful place, and this is not first time here, i have been here 6 times the staff are rude and the lady owner is just rude. I am from Chicago and an India and I know exactly how Indian food tastes in in US, I ordered biryani and it's worst biryani ever, pls don't waste money here... Eat som where else...

Excellent food! Naan is served piping hot from the oven. Everything I've had is really good - especially chicken masala. Great service. I've only been there for dinner, but I believe they have lunch buffet that is very affordable. Parking is a bit inconvenient as expected with a Virginia Street-front restaurant, but it's not "mission: impossible."

I eat out a lot. I have been to many Indian restaurants and I can confidently say that this was one of the worst. The service was terrible and the food was just lame! One of the orders was a SPECIAL BIRYANI which was supposed to have rice with chicken, lamb, beef and shrimp. I had one piece of shrimp, no beef, one piece of chicken and they forgot the lamb! I am never going back again! The server never came back to ask if I needed anything, I had to flag her down to get me some more water. Do not waste your money!

I went here on the recommendation of fellow yelpers. I had the dinner for 1 special. The dal soup was good. With a hint of ginger that was nice. I ordered the chicken vindaloo and I requested it to be spicy and they delivered. C'mon it's not worth eating spicy food if you aren't going to break a little sweat. The nan bread was warm and soft with a light chewiness. The only slightly dissappointing part was the tandoori plate that came sizzling on a hot plate. The chicken was a little dry and could of used a little more flavor. The service was prompt and attentive. My water glass was refilled multiple times. The quantity of food was good also. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town for business.

Really it was more of a 3.5. The menu was quite extensive and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was pleasant. We found the plasma TVs featuring Indian music videos entertaining, but somewhat distracting as well. I had a dosa, which was pretty bland. We also ordered a grilled chicken dish, which was very very good. And, the mango lassi was very sweet and satisfying. There were other menu items that looked great and we plan to return to try them out.

This was a great find. We truly enjoyed the food and the service was real nice (which is sometimes rare at Indian restaurants.) The restaurant was clean and food was delicious. We able to get the order made our way, spicy! Couple of chicken dishes and naan, and it hit the spot.

went on 3/5/10, arrived around 2pm for its $7.95 lunch buffet. water for me and diet coke for hubbie, total for 2 is less than $19. Have some salad, pickled yam / sweet potato, have chicken tandoori, curry potatoes, beef, chicken, seafood, and chicken masala. Garlic naan is good, fresh made when we sat down. Food is not too spicy. I like them since I didn't drink too much water afterward, I guess they don't put too much MSG as others.

Some of the best naan I've had at an Indian restaurant. Loved the chicken tikka masala and curry, although it wasn't as spicy as we were expecting.

I've gotten takeout here many times, but recently I ate in the restaurant for the first time. And this is now one of my favorite restaurants! I took my boyfriend here because he has never had Indian food before, and I knew that the food was great at India Kabaab so it would be a perfect first time for him. I love both of the sauces they bring out in the beginning... a hotter tomato/onion/pepper one, and a sweet and sour one. We never got those with takeout, so it was a new experience. I ordered a veggie dish (Shahi Navratan Korma), and boyfriend ordered a chicken curry dish. We both requested spicy, and we were very pleased with the spiciness of our food. I don't eat meat so I didn't try boyfriend's chicken, but he tried mine and said that my food had a lot more flavor than his chicken entree, but he still really liked what he ordered. We got plain nan and garlic nan and both were tasty, fluffy, and fresh. I was impressed with the service and uniqueness of everything, given that most dishes are just under $10 (at least the entrees that I considered ordering... they have a huge menu so I don't really know the prices of everything). Dim and romantic lighting, the waiter will pull out your napkins from the glass, light the candles for the plate warmers, and overall nothing looks or feels "cheap" about your dining experience. Personally, boyfriend and I loved the Indian music videos they play on the TVs... you get the WHOLE cultural experience haha! And the bar area looks really cool. My only complaint was that it was a tad chilly in the restaurant... but I have that complaint about a lot of restaurants, so maybe I just need to remember to bring my sweater next time. All in all, boyfriend loves Indian food now! So we will be back for sure.

We just tried this place for the first time a couple days ago, after reading about it here on Yelp. It was AWESOME! We ordered Naan, a lamb/lentil dish, and a grilled tandoori vegetable dish. All of these things were really really good. The portion sizes were good and the prices were very good for the quality of food and service. The wait staff was attentive, but not disruptive. They promptly brought us a thin flat bread/cracker and some dips, and took our beverage orders. They kept our water glasses filled without our hardly noticing they were there, and they checked on us several times during dinner to see if we needed anything. We also liked that it was within walking distance of the downtown Reno casinos, so we didn't have to bring our car. I think it was about 13 blocks or so from downtown. We will be eating here again next time we find ourselves in Reno!

Eating at India Kabab was my first indian food experience. I have to say, it made me a believer. The thing I first fell in love with was the naan. Get the garlic naan and you'll be glad you did. Second thing I fell in love with was the indian beer. If you haven't had a Taj Mahal beer, quit reading this review and go get one immediately. Now... the food. The food was fantastic. I love the complexity of the flavors in indian food. It was a buffet, so I tried quite a few things that I can't remember. Bottom line, they were all good... so it's not easy to be disappointed here. Then you can use all that leftover naan to soak up the extra sauce :D. GO, GO NOW.

I would of never thought I liked Indian food until this great little place. Delicious. Everything I've had has been on point. The naan is perfect with all the sauces and rice. The tofu is almost just as good at the meat. Mmm and the Mango Lassi -to die for. Atmosphere is different but that's the point right? Parking does suck. Definitely does not get in our way when were craving Indian! :)

Food is 2 star, 1 star is for lady's (probably owner's) behavior. We were a group, we reached the restaurant by 9:30 PM(remains open till 10:00 PM). We were half done with our dinner, then starting look at the TV, and were discussing about video songs that were playing on the TV. All of a sudden, don't know that what happened to her, she switched off the TV, probably she wanted us to leave the restaurant. I believe, the waiters were also pissed off because of her rude behavior that was completely visible.

Having been here a handful of times, it's about that time to finally write a review. Let's start out by saying I'm combining all of my visits to get my overall rating - and I am VERY satisfied. Whenever I leave this restaurant, I am so pleased with every aspect of my meal, and I've never left feeling like I had a complaint. The food is great, the service has always been on spot (prompt refills, suggestions and help with food allergies, willingness to explain to friends that I bring in that aren't familiar with the food, etc), and the atmosphere is simple and welcoming. The decor is not overdone or tacky, unlike some other restaurants that feature culinary adventures from other parts of the world - and don't lie, you know what I mean! You walk into that Asian restaurant that so-and-so has suggested and it has gold dragons, smiling buddhas, waving cats and cheap fans hanging all over the place? Yeah, overdone - this place is not like that, and doesn't confuse your eyes with too much going on. You're able to just concentrate on the company you have and the menu. Now, about that menu: It's full of informative explanations, so beware. It seems like a lot, especially when you're not used to seeing anything on there. If you get confused, just ask a question - they were more than willing to give answers every time I was curious about something. My friend and I settled on and appetizer (the Vegetarian Platter), an entree (Tofu Coconut Masala), and we tried something that was new to both of us (Aloo Paratha). Being lactose intolerant, I was concerned for the vegetarian appetizer; the gentleman taking our order told us he'd say which had cheese or cow's milk of any kind. Someone else brought the food to our table, but he was informed of the request and pointed out the three items that had cheese. I had a small bite of one regardless (delicious homemade cheese that had been fried), and enjoyed everything else that was in the appetizer. The masala was superb - the spices were amazing (although we asked for medium heat, and I think we could have asked for a bit more spice - next time!), the flavor was better than other stops I've made in town and reminded me of Indian food that I'd had in San Francisco or LA. The entrees are served with a delicately fragrant ride, which helps to soak up all of that yummy sauce. Lastly, the Aloo Paratha - for those that don't know anything about Indian food, let me compare something as common as a stuffed tortilla. It had spiced, mashed potatoes and peas inside and had such a mouth-watering, savory flavor; I really think that next time this would make an excellent appetizer, because it really kicks up your appetite. I have also enjoyed the Mango Lassi (try it - it's not overly sweet like American smoothies!), Murg Saagwala, Gosht Vindaloo, Gosht Korma, and Jhinga Curry - all of which were out of this world, packed with flavor and spices that you don't get to experience often enough. I have not yet visited for the lunch buffet, but I have a feeling it will happen VERY soon. If I come here one time earlier in the week, my craving for the flavors bring me back before the week is over.

This is amazing Indian food. Very well prepared and well presented. They have a big variety of dishes, including all kinds of kababs cooked in their tandoor ovens. We had a curry and a kabab sampler that had most of the different kabab meats on it. Excellent flavor and very fresh from the oven. Get out of the casinos and make your way here. You'll add this to the top of your favorite Indian restaurants anywhere.

The food was very tasty, but the variety was limited. Of course, I'm use to the variety of Indian food offer from the Bay Area Indian buffets. Overall, three stars. Lunch buffet for $7.95. Good price.

I've been coming to this restaurant since it first opened up years ago and I've only ordered off the menu once. It was the first time I visited. My mother and I had the Royal Dinner for Two, which cost a little over $30. For that price, we both got several courses of food that we enjoyed very much, but we were entirely new to Indian cuisine and weren't sure what was what. We inquired about a particular chunky salsa-like condiment of which we were particularly fond and were told that it was onion chutney, and that it was always featured on the buffet. "Buffet?" I asked. "You have a buffet?" My eyes were wide and my mind was spinning in my skull, caught up in a tempest of thought as I imagined the possibilities. "Oh, yes, sir. We have a buffet every day. Seven days a week." the waiter sang. Since then, each time that I have come has been for this wonderful buffet. For $7.95 per person (and that isn't padded by beverages, as water is really the best drink to accompany Indian cuisine), you are offered your fill of a frequently rotated line of delicious Indian dishes. The "salad" bar never really changes. The onion and mint chutneys are served alongside various sauces, salad dressings and a big bowl of salad mix. The changing feature is the dessert, found on the furthest end of the salad bar. Some days, you'll find deep fried cheese balls in a light syrup. Other days, you might discover some rich confection swimming in rosewater and, if you're really lucky, you'll find my favorite dessert of all -- kheer. Kheer is extremely tender rice cooked in milk with cardamom, saffron, sugar and pistachios. It is traditionally served at weddings in India, though I wouldn't have been surprised to find that it was offered at funerals as well; because it is to die for. The remainder of the buffet offers a soup of the day (which is hit or miss and always needs a bit more salt but is sometimes absolutely spectacular), a couple of curries, a saag (greens that have been delightfully cooked to death) dish, rice with veggies (avoid this or only get a little, it's a scam to fill you up early), a couple of masalas (sauces with meat or veggies) and tandoori chicken. I started out sampling a bit of everything before I managed to discern my favorites. I tend to like the spicier masalas and every saag dish I've ever encountered the most. I limit myself to one chicken leg or thigh and one scoop of rice each meal, in order to eat as much of the actual curry, saag and masala as possible. The beef is always rather tough, but the curry is still excellent. The chicken is usually pretty tender in curries or masala, but the tandoori chicken has a way of filling you up quickly as well. "But Darien?" you ask, dumbfounded. "How do I eat sauces without a bunch of rice?" That's an easy one. With a spoon! They provide them for a reason. In India, it's customary to eat with one's hands. Since that's taboo in America, they provide spoons at the end of the bar to assist diners with eating their curries and sauces sans rice. They also provide you with complimentary naan (regular or garlic unleavened tandoori flatbread) that you can use to "sop" your food from your plate. If you get lucky enough to see any papadum on the bar, snatch some of it up before it's all gone. It usually appears on the salad bar and has a distinctive "ultra-thin cracker" sort of appearance. It's a crispy lentil cracker that is cooked with a pleasant arrangement of tongue-burning spices. It's "tastetextural" bliss. I could go on forever about this place... but the bottom line is that for $7.95 per person, you're guaranteed an amazing meal that will fill you up, leave you with a healthy sense of well-being, please your senses, incite conversation among your dining party and satisfy in every way that a dining experience can. Just be sure to arrive between 10:30am and 3:00pm as those are the buffet hours. You'll be eager to go back as the buffet changes daily and you'll be excited to experience new dishes that you haven't tried before. And, of course, you can always order more of anything you really like or anything that wasn't on the bar that you had a taste for. Parking is around back, accessible by turning into the alleyway just beside the building, the staff may seem a bit spiky by American standards but they're actually very friendly, Indian music videos will likely be on every TV, and this place has a full bar... so feel free to come here for drinks. Cheers!

India Kabab is great for a hungry man's lunch and excellent for a fancy dinner. I've been here several times mostly for lunch and occasionally for dinner. I really love the lunch here for the fact that it is all you can eat for $8. That is enough incentive to take the Sierra Spirit from the dorms just to get away from the DC cafe. Everytime I visit India Kabob for lunch, they always have the Tandoori Chicken and Masala Chicken, which are my favorite. The spinach soup is also excellent, however it is not served everyday. Dinner is also excellent to eat here if you have a few more dollars to spend. Their tandoori mix is way better than the tandoori at lunch. The meat is so tender that you will fall in love with it at first bite. All I can really say about dinner is that it is more expensive, but the food is much better than lunch. So if you want the bang for your buck, go here for lunch. If you're trying to impress anyone visit them during their dinner!

As another yelper wrote, I have driven by this restaurant a million times and finally stopped for dinner last weekend. My significant other and I arrived around 5:30, about 20 minutes before the dinner crowd bombarded the restaurant. I was impressed with how full the restaurant had become from when we arrived to when we left around 6:30. I recommend arriving prior to 6PM for dinner on a Saturday evening if you do not want to wait for a table. We ordered two dishes, the Murg Curry, and Murg Vindaloo; both were chicken dishes, which came with white basmati rice. We also ordered the Naan and Garlic Naan bread. We both liked how our main entrees were placed in a stand over a lit candle, so the food did not cool down once it was placed on our table. Both dishes were very flavorful, in which I expect when eating Indian Food. I thought the Murg Curry was a tad more flavorful than the Murg Vindaloo. We ordered Medium Spicy for both dishes (out of Mild, Medium, & Hot) and would definitely order Hot next time, as the Medium was not spicy at all. The garlic naan was our favorite over the regular naan. For the most part the naan was moist and soft. However, the edges were a bit crispy, and my ideal naan is all soft. Overall, the food was delicious and we hope to return again soon!

My wife and I were in Tahoe skiing, and on a whim I decided to drive up to Reno as I had never been there to check out the city. We used Yelp to search for suggestions and landed on India Kabab and Curry. It was really easy to find, as you exit "Virginia St" off of Highway 80, and drive by the casinos, which is the same street as the iconic sign "Reno, the biggest little city in the world", and drive by the river that runs through town, etc. It's about 3-5 miles from the highway. Unfortunately, the restaurant is in a depressed part of town, with liquor stores, motels, etc - so it is a bit more seedy looking. Good: It was a Thursday night around 8:00pm, and when we got there the restaurant was 75% full. We had prompt service, beers were cheap ($3 for premium beers), and there was a good atmosphere. We ordered some naan and a mixed appetizer to start, which was good. We ended up ordering the Ghosi Mindaloo (I think), which was lamb in a tomato and onion red sauce, and we had the califlower & potato dish with a curry sauce. The dishes were served with long white rice. Everything was really good. Bad: the only bad thing that occured for us, was the service level towards the end of the meal. The owner/manager had a large group of her family/friends sit down, which distracted her, and the other waiters were oblivious to the tables where she had served before her family had come in..it took us a while to get someone to clear our table and bring our check..

It's hard to really give a place a good review when you eat the lunch buffet. But I will try my best. We were sat promptly and asked if we wanted to do the buffet and we said yes because we were pressed for time. The daughter really doesn't even come close to eating much so we just ordered her a mango lahsi and some naan. We did everything on the bar and there was nothing that was unexpectedly bad. There were some new things to us. Aloo Tikki was real yum. I can't actually compare it to any other Aloo Tikki, because I hadn't ever had it. But it seemed to be cooked skillfully. So the food was good the buffet had a nice wide variety of chutney's and condiments. The naan was good and warm. A few low spots detracted from the experience. The plate and water service was good but it seemed that everyone was a little grumpy, almost like they all had a pretty hard night of drinking before but still came in with a hangover. Now maybe it's just me but this seems to be standard for Indian restaurants in Reno. There was one that didn't have that attitude, sadly they aren't in business anymore. So maybe it's just me. However I don't go to restaurants to make friends but to have good food. I will return. And some day I will return and actually try a real meal, not just the buffet.

The times I have been here, is for the lunch buffet, and they have a great variety of food. It was my first experience with Indian food, and I was so pleased, I go there when I can now. The only thing weird is the teeny parking spot in back or the one spot out front. Well, and it does get hot in the summer time.

we look forward to returning again! we, parents and 10 year old kid, just happened to pass India Kebab and Curry last Thursday evening and lucky for us that we did! we LIKE Indian food!!! (it seems a few of the reviewers do not / are not familiar with Indian food and were pretty harsh in their comments). India Kebab and Curry offers a big menu! the naan section alone is impressive! it would take a long while to sample them all. we had spinach naan, great chewy-crusty texture. high marks for the delicious vegetarian samosas, with well spiced, flavorful filling. those were the most delicious samosas we've had (we dine in the San Jose/ south and East bay areas frequently w/ lots of Indian restaurants). others made with just potatoes and peas seem bland compared to these. bhaingan bartha requested medium spicy was perfect in depth and heat, too. we should probably add a fifth star, just for offering dosas! we live in Truckee-Tahoe and regularly experience dosa cravings. yep, tasty, just a bit more crisp than we'd like, but we are thrilled to have dosas. we ordered three entrees, two appetizers and the spinach naan, all were very good and we found the service to be fine, too. price to portion might be a wee bit high, but hey, it's Reno, not Fremont/Sunnyvale/San Jose. we plan to return and dine here often!!

Quite an extensive menu. The tandoori shrimp, according to my wife, was one the most memorable meals of her life as she would easily consider it as her last meal as a dying wish. I've had a lamb dish which was excellent. Their lunch buffet? I've had better. Naan? I have yet to try all their options. With such an extensive menu, combinations seem endless. Overall, beautiful decor with a full bar offering an exotic option in the region.

I've only been to the buffet here but everytime it does not dissappoint! Decent prices but don't expect to get awesome service... they kind of just leave you alone... well you pretty much have to go out of your way to get anything.

Really, this was not very good. I was fortunate enough to go with a native Indian and he said it wasn't very authentic at all. He thought the samosas were awful. I agree with him, nothing really stood out. I've tried other Indian food since then, and all that I've had is better. The portions were small and the prices were much too high. I tried Indian Garden after going here, and Indian Garden was so much better. I will probably give this place one more try. I think I'll go for the lunch buffet rather than doing dinner, and see how it is.

One of the best restaurants in Reno, NV hands down. My girlfriend and I go here about one a week. We always order the Murg Chili, Shahi Navartan Korma, and Apricot/Coconut naan. The only thing I can recommend to the business is to discontinue their use of Windex. They always clean the tables with Windex, and with so much that it sprays up into the air and lingers there for several minutes while customers are eating. They don't seem to notice how bad it actually is. There are other types of cleaners that will clean tables, but won't leave that Windexy smell. Still one of our favorite restaurants that we continue to frequent weekly, or at least bi-weekly.

We drive up to Reno from Carson City whenever we get a hankering for Indian food and don't want to make it ourselves. The food here is really pretty good, in my opinion. I lived in India (then Bombay, now Mumbai) for a year when I was a teenager, and I think this food is fairly consistent with what I remember from back then. That said, you have to go with a thick skin and not be offended by the lack of friendliness from the staff. I've always had great conversations with owners/staff of Indian restaurants we've frequented in the past, but not a chance of that here. We've been here a dozen times or so, and I am pretty sure I've yet to see a smile from someone. So, bottom line, if you're looking for a nice warm, inviting experience, you should probably look elsewhere. But if you're looking for pretty good Indian food and entertaining Bollywood videos, this is the best place we've found in the area.

This is where I go when I want Indian food here in Reno. The food is good, the ambiance is good, and it's clean. My picky eater boyfriend loves their chicken tikka masala and I like the gosht tikka saggwala. I'm a big fan of the fruit cream too.

Stopped in for dinner last week and ordered the India Kabab Curry Dinner Special for one - soup, vegetable samosa appetizer (one), sizzling Tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, seekh kabab, choice of entree (excluding tandoori specials), rice, pullao, naan and dessert or tea/coffee for $17.95. It was 9:00 PM when I arrived and they're open until 10 PM. Only one other customer there when I walked in, but some others came in later. I still pretty much had the place to myself. I ordered the Tandoori Swordfish Masala for my entree - chunks of fresh swordfish in a rich creamy tomato sauce, garnished with fresh cilantro ($12.95 as a separate entree meal, but included in this dinner special). I also had the plain naan that's included with the dinner upgraded to the bleu cheese stuffed naan for a price increase ($3.95 is the regular price if ordered as a separate item, this is a special order item on the very back page of the restaurant menu, not listed on the online menu, not sure what the upgrade price was). The bleu cheese naan was very good and I thought it went well with the spices used in the various dishes served to me. I chose the coconut ice cream for dessert; it was divine. Though the dinner price may seem high, there was easily enough food provided for 2.5x meals. I barely put a dent in the feast of various dishes before me on the table. I devoured the leftovers for both lunch and dinner the following day. It all tasted just as good as the night before. My only complaint is that I requested a "hot" spice level and most of the items served only ranged between mild - medium by my taste buds. Maybe I've burned them all out, LOL. I do love hot, spicy food! Probably only a 4 star experience to most people, but I give them an extra star for the effort/work ethic. Or maybe those hawt Bollywood actresses softened me up, hmmmm ....

My boyfriend became rather obsessed with Indian cuisine in his travels thanks to his co-workers. We used to live in the Dallas area so finding an abundance in world cuisine was a matter of finding the best place out of the many to choose from. Having lived in Reno for many years prior we were concerned with what choices we would have for Indian cuisine. We were actually driving around looking for a Greek place that I was told was around on Virginia Street when we passed by India Kabab and Curry. When the Greek place was not located we turned around and came back. We've been to India Kabab an Curry twice now, once for dinner and once for dinner carry-out. Both times they were nice and got our food to us quickly. Their mild is just right for me. The veggie pakora is actually better than the veggie pakora I used to get in Dallas. My boyfriend was thrilled to see they had peshwari naan (which is delicious). My only mistake was ordering paneer pakora by accident the second time around. ;) The price is great as we got 4 main courses and 4 appetizers for about $60. I know that their murg tikka masala and aloo palak are both really good. Next time I'll give their aloo gobi a whirl. I did check that it's not good for kids, because frankly I don't think my 2 and 4 year old would really do well dining in there as it's not really geared towards kids. I could see my youngest trying to remove the tea light candle from the serving dish and it just ending very poorly. It's likely just best to do carry-out when kids are involved. Or at least when my kids are involved. ;)

Oh man! I can't stop talking about this place! After driving by it for years and saying "I need to go in there.", I finally did. Then I smacked myself for waiting so long. To start, I ordered the standard samosas. Tasty. For dinner, my date and I shared the Tandoori Mixed Grill featuring fish, shrimp and lamb. The flavors were so insane they gave me goosebumps. All three of the proteins were incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. We also ordered the Murg Madras: Boneless chicken pieces cooked with curry sauce, mustard seeds, curry leaves and coconut. HOLY CRAP! It took all my willpower not to pick up the bowl and drink this entire dish up. Once again, incredibly tender chicken, the mustard seeds provided a pleasing texture and we all know about delightful curry and coconut are. Golden Flower is usually my go-to place in Reno but I think India Kabab may have just ousted them. I plan on returning again and again to try out every item on the menu.

Great garlic naan, good variety on the menu, all fresh, hot and delicious. They'll definitely make it spicy if you ask for it. Cozy and comfortable. Love this place.

LOVE THIS PLACE! I would go here any day. They have great food, nice and spicy, and a beautiful and warm atmosphere. The tikka masala is always a favorite, as well as the garlic naan, and anything off their veggie menu. I particularly love the lentil dishes.

Basics first - centrally located on Virginia St. (my husband says EVERYTHING in Reno is on Virginia St.), with street parking, and a lot behind the building. If you're coming from downtown, the sign for the lot is easy to see. We went for dinner, so we ate from the menu, rather than the popular lunch buffet. Food - After we were seated we were given some pappadams with 2 chutneys - both tasted fresh, and the chopped tomato chutney was quite refreshing. We had the Chef's Special Combination platter - again, everything was freshly prepared. Nothing was overcooked, but nothing stood out as great. It included some chicken Tikka, Vegetable Pakoras, Samosas and IIRC, some Tikka Aloo. For a main course, we had two lamb dishes - My husband had the Vindaloo, and I had the Tikka Sagwalla. It's worth mentioning that we used to live in London, with a massive Indian and Pakistani community, so our expectations are for pretty authentic fare. So when the waiter asked the level of spiciness, we asked for "Indian medium" rather than American medium. Vindaloo can be VERY hot, so having read reviews that the food was pretty authentic, we decided to err on the side of caution. It was a mistake. The vindaloo was bland - the Sagwalla was actually spicier, but most definitely dumbed down for tender American palates. The food was fresh, moist, but pretty tasteless. It wasn't just the heat - it was just bland. I hate beating up on a locally owned business, but the vacuum packed entrees from Trader Joe's have more flavor that what India Kebab is serving. We love trying new food, and usually gamble on a regional specialty or a house specialty. In this case, we tried the Behl. This is essentially a bowl of Indian snack crackers mixed with diced onion and a sweetish ketchup like tomato sauce, served at room temperature. I can see it being a sort of comfort food - not unlike Mac and Cheese, but again, the flavors were pretty bland, and we wouldn't order it again. The highlight of the meal was the Naan - freshly baked, slightly crisped on the outside, and nicely chewy. All in all, the food wasn't bad, but very disappointing. We LOVE Indian food, and would love to find a GENUINE restaurant - and if you know of one in Reno that isn't afraid to keep the food real, PLEASE feel free to shoot me a message!

great all you can eat indian food. I am originally from the bay area and am used to many styles of middle eastern cuisine. All the food is fragrant and full of flavor. Caution to people who are not used to flavorful cooking.

My favorite place for Indian Food. Delicious food, and a huge selection! I love the naan and the Mango Lassi's! And, I don't like things that are too spicy, so I'm glad that they can make things mild.

My wife and I visited this restaurant when it first opened and were wholly unimpressed. Being that we've heard good things about it in recent months we thought we'd give it another shot ... and it's better! The service was kind of odd (everyone walking around in a sort of morose, zombie trance), but the food was ok. Not amazing, but not too shabby, especially compared to our first visit. We'll definitely have to give it another go and see if it rates another star.

I am Indian and have tried Indian food from everywhere in the Bay to Tracy. Atmosphere: Owner's kids running around which is not a problem to me until they start yelling and screaming when I am trying to enjoy dinner. The manikin in the front is a little scary. Service: It was getting near to closing time so the service was not good. Never came to check if we were doing okay or if we wanted a refill. Also when he brought us our check he waited there for me to review the bill and waited for me to leave a tip. I hate people looking over me and waiting for me to finish. It is irritating. Food: Lamb samosas, Chicken Tandoori, Lentil, shrimp masala, and naan. The lamb samosas were filled with meat which was nice, but had no taste, and was dry. The chicken tandoori had a wet glaze which is not typical for tandoori items. Needless to say it was bland and dry. The Lentil tasted like nothing. The shrimp masala was the only savior in this meal. It had flavor and tasted pretty good. Won't be back here again.

This place is the best indian food in Reno and it's CHEAP! Check out the lunch buffet for even more savings. Everything is always good, and the environment is quite pleasant. As other people have mentioned, Bollywood videos play constantly and provide ample entertainment alongside your expertly prepared meal. Bottom Line: Good food. Good value. Eat it.

Probably the only weekend buffet which serves Tofu... Soy Bean... Rajma dhal ..in the vegetarian entrees and just one aloo tikka (which was undercooked) as appetizer...jus one dessert which was again bland.... Their sweet lassi was bad... the entire restaurant had a funny smell.. would definitely not recommend this place.....

Horrible food! We ordered a bunch of food and all of it was very bad. The yogurt was stale and the fish was bland! No salt and very spicy. It came with something they called a 'sauce' which was letil soup!! With salmon? Eew. The Keema naan was NOT even Keema. It was a flattened piece of meat between the naan (yuck). Do not recommend.

My favorite Indian restaurant in town. The interior is exotic yet cozy and inviting. They have multiple types of naan including one with blue cheese for the braver foodies! The chicken mahkani is buttery and the tikka masala is spicy. There is also a great lunch buffet during the week. Have not checked to see if they have it during the weekend.

Holy cow, what a gem! We walked here after learning the wait for Miguel's was 25+ mins, and I'm so glad we did because dinner was delicious! Started with the samosa chaat which I wasn't expecting to be covered in chickpeas, but if I had known how tasty it was I would have only ordered that for dinner. The serving size is pretty big, but if your table is sharing then it's perfect. Tikka masala and chicken korma to share. Both were very tasty but I definitely think the korma was better. Comes with rice which is also good. We ordered a side of naan which is always good for dipping, but honestly we ended up eating mostly the rice anyway. To top it all off, we tried the mango juice. It's so thick! Very sweet. Very yummy. I added some water to mine, as I'm not really one for strong drinks. Will absolutely come back here!

I had one of the best Indian buffets of my life here. The food was great! I have lived in Seattle for 28 years, so my experience in Indian food is relatively large. Also, the employees are amazing! Singh, my waiter, gave me a special spice to go for stomach aches. He gave me a large amount for free and gave me the name of an Indian Market where I could buy it. AMAZING PLACE! AMAZING FOOD! AMAZING PRICE! AMAZING STAFF!

Love hitting the lunch buffet. Wasn't a huge fan of Indian food until I tasted their tikka masala and naan. You're doing yourself a disservice by not eating it. The restaurant is surprisingly nice and large inside, too! The wait staff is always exceedingly friendly!

This may be the best deal in Reno, its definitely the best Indian food. The fact that you can get out for under 10 bucks is mind blowing. The four stars is for service, it's not the best, however this isn't a huge deal seeing it's a buffet.

Food is OK. There were few boys drunk and continuously abusing each other. Which i think should be controlled by management but it looks like they were known to the them (management) and allowed to talk like that. There were some families also having dinner that must be disturbing for them.

Came in right at the end of their buffet time, however they let us use the buffet before breaking it down. The food was okay. My friend said that the chicken curry dish tasted like Chef Boy R Dee ravioli sauce. I sort of agree. The garlic naan was really good, and the tandoori chicken was decent.

India Kabab & Curry is truly one of my favorite restaurants in town! They were in existence long before the incredible foodie movement that we're enjoying now. The $7.95 (now $8.95) buffet that they are so well-known for is merely the tip of this flavorful, delicious iceberg. It's such a great deal and is so much better than the soup/salad/etc deals you can find at corporate restaurants. If you're unsure/intimidated by Indian food, the buffet is a great place to start teasing your palate (and learning the names of some of these wonderful dishes!). However, please don't judge them solely on the quality of the buffet food. The buffet food is good, but it's just not in the same league as a freshly made, individual order of the same dish. The tandoori chicken is a prime example of this. Tandoori ovens are borderline magical in my eyes. They just give food the most incredible, indescribable flavor...I frequently order the vegetable tandoori. There are literally 3-4 different flavors in each bite. Eat slowly and savor the smooth transitions and clean finish. If you're afraid of heat, don't worry! Each dish is made to order (mild, medium, hot). If you've never tried Indian food, start with mild heat and progress your way up the scale. I grew up on Indian food, so I absolutely love all the rich flavors that warm you from the inside out. However, I understand how the names and spices can be intimidating to newcomers...Don't let the Ben Stiller scene from "Along Came Polly" prevent you from exploring this wonderful territory! You can never go wrong with samosas, vegetable pakoras, tikki aloo, malai kofta, aloo chole, or any tandoori dish. (See what I mean about the intimidating names?) The tomato-coconut soup (most of the soups are vegetarian) is absolutely to die for! They also have some nice dinners for 1 (or 2) at a variety of prices. This is a nice way to try several dishes by yourself (or with someone special). Since the dishes are freshly prepared, they are higher quality than what you'll get at the buffet. It is well worth the extra money and is a more pleasurable dining experience! While India Kabab & Curry has a full bar, I definitely encourage you to try a lassi! It's like a yogurt shake/smoothie. You can order it sweet, salty or mango-flavored. Definitely go with the mango! Service is always pleasant, attentive and professional, though you may have difficulty in communicating when you'd like to modify a dish. (In my case, I order the vegetarian appetizer platter with double vegetable pakora instead of cheese pakora. Indian cheese just isn't my thing, but boy, do I love that chickpea batter!) I have never had an issue when receiving my dish, but sometimes there's a communication barrier when I try to explain what I want. If management ever happens to read this, please bring back the ginger ice cream!! It is simply otherworldly!

It was the one snowy/rainy eve this season. The wife, yes we got married about a month and 5 days ago, found herself with a migraine, incapacitated on the couch. Clearly she was in no mood to create something delicious, and we both needed to eat. So what were we to do? Option 1 was to unleash me on the kitchen to cook...which would have resulted in a mountain of dirty dishes that would certainly survived for at least a few days. NOPE! Option 2 was to dine on something delivered...which sounds great in theory until you realize Reno is really remiss in this regard. GUESS NOT! Option 3 was easily the least desirable decision we could make...which I was not so willing to welcome. See, since the food wouldn't come to us, I had to fetch the food. Worse than that, we couldn't come to a consensus on what we wanted when we did finally decide to do the deed! And then, out of nowhere, one of us suggested Indian, and all at once the world was one again. It was the answer to all our desires, the only thing strong enough to motivate even me to leave my perch on the couch to brave the roads, to retrieve dinner for us. We ordered our food through the Yelp app! Rich and creamy Saag Paneer, rich, velvety sweet and savory chicken korma, and an eggplant dish, all ordered hot and spicy, along with garlic naan and onion kulcha, rice, chutneys, and naturally two mango lassis were bagged up and ready to go when I arrived. It was so easy! You can pay with a credit card before picking your food up, which made it super fast too! I returned home and was instantly a hero! My skills as a great husband were spread far and wide across the internets and, for an instant, I was famous! So for this update I'm going to up it a star because of the seamless process, absolutely delicious food, and friendly service, and for making me worthy of worship!!' Thanks India Kabab! This is the best Indian in town!

The service is meh, but I'm here all the time. What does that tell you? Yup, the food is totally worth it. As soon as you walk in the place you know you've chosen wisely. You'll immediately be seated and think to yourself "hmm..Vickey must have been wrong. This is great customer service!". Then they take your order in a manner which makes you think your bothering them, they have something better to do. Maybe they do? Doesn't matter. Get the veggie coconut korma and the garlic naan. Holy schmokes! It's so tasty. My meat eater friends always get the lamb if that tells you something? The rice is amazingly perfect. Oh how I love rice! A couple things to know: Be weary of their mixed beverages. My friend ordered a Manhattan and wound up with a Margarita. The lady swore it was correct but there's a distinct color difference between those beverages. And why would you do that when you can order a Lassi? If you plan on splitting your check avert your eyes for the daggers coming out of their eyes may maim you! Oh Cheesus! I just found out you can order online. Color me stoked. Moral of the story: Go, eat, enjoy!

The restaurant is run by a punjabi family. Service is good and fast. Location is OKish, parking is limited. Food: We ordered masala doss, paneer dosa and samosas. They were just average, sambar ( soup given with dosa) was not good at all. We got beef nihari for take away, and it was not good as well. Overall, good place to handout with family, but no so great food.

One star for the complimentary papad they have. That's about it as far as awarding a star goes for this place. It can't get worse here, here's how. Food: Ever wondered what their chilli chicken is? Well I can tell you it's definitely not the picture from their menu. It's batter fried chicken in the morning, and tossed in wok with onions and tomato ketchup/sweet tomato sauce at the the time of serving! I promise you won't taste any chilli at all by long shot. The non veg platter consists of the same chicken from above, half decent chicken tikka, some other type of batter fried chicken and seekh kabab that's dark brown, dry, suspicious tasting meat that feels like chewing wet wood shavings. If you ask the server about it he will candidly tell you it's from before because they can't manage preparing tandoori food at one go during rush hour dinner time. Being a north Indian I know my Indian food, and this certainly is not. It's a lame excuse of Indian food for those who can be impressed with just the food colour. Space: they have huge seating area and ample parking behind the restaurant. Ambience: dim lights, neat and spacious. Not much to say. Needless to say low customer service orientation. I for sure am never coming back.

Having previously had delicious Indian buffets/meals at restaurants in cities all over the country, this was SUPER underwhelming :( To start, the sauces were pretty flavorless and their selection for the buffet was really weak. No saag? There were only 2 chicken dishes and one was "special chicken" - no idea what that even means. The naan and rice were old and unimpressive. The glass for water was dirty and still had marks from someone else's lips. Pretty gross. Overall, my partner and I only ate one plate and it wasn't very good. I would say to skip this restaurant...not worth your time.

The food is good and the price is unbeatable. We came in and had the lunch buffet and a couple of beer and the check was about 20 dolls or less! The service is good and I loved the music videos they had on. The place is a bit run down, but still a good option for Indian food.

This was my very first experience with Indian food. I am so glad that I tried it and am lookinf forward to trying it again and again. The location is Midtown so it is a great area to walk around afterward. The parking was not too bad. They have a private lot in the back. We were greeted and seated right away in a pretty comfy booth. I would have given this place five stars but there was a fly that bothered us the entire time we were there. It was VERY annoying. On the positives...the food was amazing. We ordered paneer pakoras. They were light and crunchy and the mint chutney was a very nice dipping sauce. The garlic naan was really tasty as well. I loved dipping it into the saices. We ordered chicken tikka masala and it was AWESOME! I will definitely be ordering that again. The chicken was so tender and juicy and the sauce was fantastic. Over the rice, it was deelish! We also ordered the murg coconut korma. Neither of us had ever heard of it before but DAYUM I am so glad that we tried it. It was my favorite part of the meal. SO so good. The coconut flavor was mild but definitely present. I loved it. If it weren't for that damn fly they wouldv'e received five stars from me.

The food here is PHENOMENAL! I would recommend this place to everyone. I'm not sure what happened with other reviewers, but I've never, ever had anything undercooked here. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the meat and vegetables seem to be of great quality! I especially love the lunch buffet. The choices of food they put out are so good, especially the murg tikka masala! It's also super affordable! TBH I am not a big eater of spicy foods, but that's part of why I love this place's buffet. They put out a lot of mild options for people like me. It's a great way to introduce yourself to Indian cuisine without burning your tongue off! The service and atmosphere is awesome. The place is perfect for a nice night out or a date. The servers have really nice uniforms--dress pants, dress shirt, and a vest; classy as fuckkkk! I love how they bring the food to you in a little bowl over a lit candle. I don't know much about Indian food, so I'm not sure if this is common, but either way, it's pretty AND it keeps my food hot! The servers are always prompt and very understanding when I ask them for cream to make my food less spicy--I'm a wimp. In short--TRY THIS PLACE! :)

Came here for a wedding reception. The place is on the smaller side. We were in the private room area. Service was awesome. We had waiters that came to our table every 20-30 minutes to offer refills on wine or offer drinks. The food was really good, spicy but good. I would definitely stop by again when in Reno. Good service, good food -five stars.

I just got home from dinner at India Kebab with friends. We ordered off the vegetarian section using the restaurants dinner for two section. We had the Dal Mahkni which is a lentl dish with herbs, spices and coriander. Our second item Shahi Paneer Korma. It is essentially a tomato with ginger, onions and cubes of cheese. Both of these items were as good as they get. We were all pleased with our meal which came with soup, an appetizer, nan , a flat cracker and a desert. The price is in anyone's budget. The staff is very friendly and you get to watch Bollywood videos while you eat. I highly recommend you get to India Kabab, another Jewel in the Crown in the Midtown area of Reno.

I hadn't eaten here for about 1 year, so it was time to try again and review. I went early today, figuring it would let me try everything when it's as fresh as possible and my conclusion is everything looks much better than it tastes. It's not bad per se, but it doesn't have any punch. It's very Americanized, which I imagine why so many people like the spot. So here the dishes I tried and my scores on them: Tomato Coconut Soup (5 stars) Vegetable Dish (2 stars) Tofu and Peas (2 stars) Graham Dish (3 stars) Saag w/ Shrimp (2 stars - shrimp is too fickle for a buffet and I got it early) Basmati Rice (5 stars) Curry Chicken (3 stars) Tandoori Chicken (2.5 stars) Naan (supposed to be Garlic and Crispy, just Plain and limp - 3 stars) Marinated Carrots (5 Stars) Onions from Tandoori (5 Stars) Ranch Dressing (5 stars) Salad (2 stars) Raita (4 stars) Service was good at first as there was only 1 guy on the floor and he did a great job, I tipped extra well as a result. Half way into my meal the floor had about 4 more guys, and I was getting dizzy from them walking all around me. It was way too many people in my space in too short of a time frame. It wasn't super busy either. Also a number of time the additional employees were standing next to my table too. I used to work in food service and that is a faux pas. You only stand next to a table if you are serving the table. It's very uncomfortable to have people standing right next to you while you are eating. If you are looking to people watch, see some familiar faces, on a date, or with someone who is just trying Indian food and unsure, this is definitely your place. If you are looking for authentic spices and flavor and less people drama due to a tightly constructed space, you might want to venture out.

disgusting food I ever had. we ordered hot spicy, and we wer served food without any spices. Tandoori chicken was half boiled and later cooked in tandoor oven or was frozen and directly put into oven with no spices, not even salt on it. murg masala dosa was nothing but regular masala dosa with diced chicken which seem to be stale. disgusting Sambar was nothing but boiled frozen dal directly put into hot pan with excess of turmeric Overall review nothing was good except the ambience

We ordered south indian items, we did not like them at all. 1. veg manchurian-- never saw that kind of prep, not tasty just greezy 2. Salmon- smallest portion for that price we ever saw. 3. Biriyani-- Was a rice mixed in curry type.. not prepared authentic style. ... 4. chicken dosa--Did not taste well, no flavor, not enough salt... !? May not visit again...

If this is the best Indian food in Reno, go for some other cuisine. The seekh kebab was some kind of pre-packaged sausage, warmed up, instead of ground lamb. The curries were bland, even though we ordered medium spice. The chicken was red in color, but tasteless. The achar or pickle was dry and obviously very old. Overall, a very poor excuse for Indian food.

It seems most people partake in the lunch buffet for this place. That being said this review will be for their ordered dinner service. Friday night is date night for me and the hubby and we would go to a restaurant around 6-7pm however my hubby's schedule has changed and he doesn't end work until 8. By the time he gets home it's like 8:30 and I've noticed that finding a restaurant in Reno open past 9 pretty difficult. So I was super excited when yelping we found India Kabab and Curry open until 10pm (according to yelp) even better though, they are actually open till 11pm Whoo hoo! The restaurant is clean and has a very warming atmosphere, but kind of generic. The only the paintings on the door and 1 tv playing Bollywood indicated it was an Indian restaurant. However the smell that hits you as soon as you walk in screams CURRRY! Which is what really counts in my book. They have a small parking lot in the back which they share with a bar and 2 other businesses. Now on to the food! Right away we were served papdum with an onion and hot pepper chutney and a sweet and sour sauce. Let me say that the chutney had my mouth on FIRE. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy food but I definitely needed a mango lassi to put out the flames. We ordered the Paneer Pakora which is Indian cheese deep fried in a chickpea flour batter and served with a mint sauce. Now I really wasn't a fan of this dish mainly for the texture. I've had paneer before but usually in palak paneer where the paneer is covered in a spinach curry, however for some reason my brain thought it would be different fried. Paneer does not melt...at all...not even a little bit. Next time I'll stick to a samosa. For our main dishes I had the Lamb Rogan Josh (medium) and my husband had the Chicken Coconut Korma (mild). The Rogan Josh was different than anywhere else I'd had it before. I'm used to a milder creamy tomato sauce where this once had a different flavor profile. Not to say it wasn't good. It was just different than I was used to. Hubby's Chicken Coconut Korma was fantastic. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was not over "coconutty". I really appreciated how the curries had their own little tea light warmer to keep the consistency and texture of the curry. I think the best part was the Naan. It had great flavor and chewy-crispy texture. I will agree with other reviews that I think they are a bit stingy with the Naan. We ended up ordering another Naan to-go with our leftovers. I don't have much to say on service. It was ok. Nothing spectacular; we didn't have a charming and engaging waiter nor were we ignored. Our order was taken at a timely manner and our waters were refilled long before we were empty so I really can't complain. The staff just didn't have the Charisma to really "wow" us with service. Overall not a bad place I think I just have to try their other dishes and I'll have to try the buffet sometime.

Very good indian food. Mango Lassi is awesome, and the dinner for two deal is the best around. $23 for two people and you get a soup, samosas, naan, entree and desert each.

The food here wasnt that great. Since its the only place open at 11.30 we went here. But the food was much below average. They need to make their food worth the money they take.

I was so excited to find a friend to finally eat some Indian food with, no one ever wanted to give this place a try, nor do any of my friends like Indian food. We walked in the side door and were immediately seated even though it was pack jammed for lunch hour on a week day. The downside was we had to wait in the long lunch buffet line. All the food options were seemingly fresh, I liked that they had onions with lamb meatballs rather than only chicken dishes. I'd never had those before at an Indian restaurant. The rice was okay, it was cooked well but it'd be nice if they could use coconut rice or even throw in some saffron to make it more authentic. Why are they always so stingy with their naan? I don't get it, usually only one serving of naan per table, but that was okay because I've definitely had better naan elsewhere. The masala was okay, could have been thicker, perfect amount of spices. The tandoori chicken was good, not too dry. I pretty much liked everything except the naan and I would like to see more curry dishes on the buffet lineup. I was so full so quickly because I was super excited to eat here and scarfed everything down so fast. Thinking about it now, I didn't see any dessert options other than fruit, it would have been nice to have some rice pudding or even those sweet sticky donut hole-ish treats I've seen at other restaurants. I'll definitely be going back, even to dine alone, but not before I try the other Indian lunch buffets in Reno.

Awesome curry and chicken tikka masala. Great value especially lunch buffet. Relaxing ambiance. Garlic nan is really good. I know there are other Indian restaurants in town, but I keep coming back to this one.

Delicious and authentic food. Very clean. New to Reno, so this was a pleasant surprise. Traveled to India and grew up in NYC, so I can appreciate their quality. Prices fair with attentive and courteous service. Will be back to try their lunches as we purchased dinners .

First of all amazing food!!!! Had friends over from different state went for dinner the owner Bishan came over introduced himself. We ordered the butter chicken and the chilli chicken all the food we ordered was on point we ordered it spicy and it was nice and spicy with great flavors. Definitely a good recommendation for good Indian food in Reno Nevada....

absolutely delicious. the worker was happy to give me suggestions for my first time eating there. *chicken tikka masala is not an easy dish to make... it's hard to get the chicken just right, but this restaurant nailed it. and the flavor is very good *shrimp korma- shrimp cooked perfectly and flavor delicious *garlic nan- great texture . not too crispy . not burnt (as many others). if there were a bit more garlic flavor, it would be perfect for me *baingan bharta- grilled eggplant dish . delicious for me, but for those not too keen on ginger, you can definitely taste it. *mango lassi- not too think, mango flavor nice, not too sweet *the rice can be more fluffy *portions are generous

So the first thing that you should know is that.... I'm not an Indian food fan. It always looks so good when they're eating it in Bollywood films, but I have never known one dish from another. And I definitely know that Indian curry is my least favorite of the curry family. So...there! If you are an Indian food fanatic, then you probably shouldn't listen to me, because I absolutely do not know what I am talking about!! BUT. I have to agree with the other Yelpers: 1- the lunch buffet is probably the best option because it lets you sample the most dishes to find something to your taste. 2- the service is TERRIBLE. And 3- You probably won't be given the option for dessert. Let me elaborate. Unless you know exactly what kind of Indian food you like, you'll be clueless like me. I literally sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out what to eat (besides Naan) and the lunch buffet would probably have been my best option. When in doubt, try everything. I ended up eating the Non-Vegetarian platter appetizer, which was utterly boring, and some garlic Naan, which was pretty good but I've had better. Along with the food, I mistakenly ordered some Masala tea (darjeeling tea mixed with milk) that was uninspiring and instantly reminded me that I've had it before (fool me once, fool me twice, and no, I will not be foolish a third time). But again, I am no Indian food fan, so what do I know?! Second, there is nearly non-existent service. True, you're greeted immediately when you walk through the door, but they somehow expect you to order food the second after you glance at the menu. Huh? I mean, with a menu that's their size, they clearly ought to give you more than a second. The moment after I ordered my food, there was complete isolation until I received my meal. And even then, no one checked on me until a few new customers were led past my table. A couple of the guys filled my nearly full cup, and then suddenly I was given my check, despite my constant desire to have dessert. (Third.) So, in other words, no dessert. I mean what restaurant doesn't ask you if you'd like dessert?! That's the one question I get in nearly every place I've gone and I almost always answer yes! But whatever. I paid my bill and left. After all, the food wasn't that fantastic anyways, most likely dessert would have been another disappointment. And I certainly wasn't going to wait around for someone to come back to take my dessert order. I know, I know, there's so many reviews that rave about this place, but I am not one of them. I don't know that they deserve a one-star rating, but they definitely don't deserve five. And based on the way they interacted with their customers, I sense that there MUST be a friendlier Indian place in Reno that better deserves my patronage...um, when I decide to attempt liking Indian food again.... HA!

I have been here multiple times and the food is always good. Not great, but good. The naan is limper than I prefer and I'm convinced the coconut chicken Marsala has no coconut in it what so ever, but everything else that I have ordered from them is satisfying. Also, the staff is almost nonexistent. Last time I was here, it took them fifteen minutes to come take our order and we were literally the only people in the restaurant. So, all in all, the food is decent, and satisfies my craving for Indian food but whatever points the food earned, the staff lost.

We were spending the night in Reno and craved Indian food. Yelp showed this place about a mile and a half from our hotel so we decided to walk. We reached the place and saw 7-8 people waiting before us in the small area. People waiting to be seated is generally an indication of the popularity of the restaurant so we were excited to try the food. While we were waiting, a lady who had just paid her meal and was leaving came to us and started showering praises about the food and how it is worth the wait. Well, our expectations were raised now. We were seated after about 30 mins of waiting. The waiter came to us and asked us to order everything in one go since their kitchen was backed up and the order would take 45 mins to an hour to be prepared. We ordered a Veg Starter Platter, Malai Kofta, Daal Makhani and different breads (paratha, nan, kulcha etc). For the 45 min wait, we were served 3 papads with chutney. Finally when the food arrived, we were excited and hungry so we dug in. The samosa was decent, other starters were too bland for Indian taste buds. The daal and the malai kofta could have used a bit of more spices too. The breads were heavenly though. The authentic taste of Tandoor in the freezing cold cannot be described. However, apart from the breads, I found the restaurant overpriced, the food over hyped and the waiting times mismanaged. The staff can use a lesson or two in politeness too. All in all, try this only if you're really craving for Indian food and don't mind long wait times and shelling out a few dollars more than you usually would for a meal.

Wow..so food is ok, service poor and slow. But where this review gets really bad. Cleanilliness. Too see waiters, bussers place their fingers in used plates and glasses then in your food. Not good. Also, buffets should be regularly changed, not food added to the top. This place is walking sickness waiting to bite you.

I feel a little bad for Reno, as there are already limited options for Indian food, but this place was meh. We actually stopped by Flavors of India first, but the place was empty and we waited for five minutes and no one greeted us so we decided to come to India Kabab. The korma curry was delicious but the lamb we ordered with it was dry and inedible. I'm used to korma being a bit creamier too. The paneer was lacking in flavor. I wouldn't order either again, but I would order their garlic naan in a heartbeat. Too bad you can't make a meal with naan alone. They also brought our charged check without a pen, so we had to awkwardly wait and flag someone down. Big no-no. That said, based on other reviews and our glimpse of the competitor, this may be the best option for Indian in Reno.

2-stars is described as a "Meh. I've experienced better" rating, which is exactly what I said after ordering. Not that the food doesn't taste good, but if you've had indian food in the past, this place ranks quite low. When you've grown accustomed to a surplus of top quality, authentic Indian food for 5 years that Indian food becomes one of your favorite types of cuisine, this place becomes, regrettably, an utter disappointment. I have had Southern and Northern Indian cuisine as well as Pakistani and Nepalese. I am a huge fan of CTM (chicken tikka masala), just like most people and it's usually my way of comparing restaurants (because you honestly can't go wrong with the most popular Indian dish). That being said, this CTM lacked depth and flavor. It tasted similar to the CTMs you find in the really cheap Indian restaurants. Their naan was at least decent, though. I feel like it's unfair to rate this restaurant so poorly given that Reno is severely lacking in proper international food (Korean, Japanese, Thai, Filipino, etc. etc.), but I have to be honest especially to those who are coming from out of state and are looking to eat somewhere Indian. To those travelers, I say to "skip Indian food tonight and go to Hiroba sushi or some American restaurant." If you are just looking to satisfy your curry fix without a care for quality and authenticity, by all means, come here. Otherwise, if you're from California or just passing by, get on I-80 W, drive 3.5 hours to San Francisco/Bay Area, and stop at the first 500+/3-star rated Indian restaurant you Yelp.

The decor is festive without being overdone. No warm fuzziness from the staff but they were efficient and attentive. The food was well done and very well seasoned. This is my second visit to their lunch buffet and the offerings provided more than just tandoori chicken. The tandoori was the crown of the buffet with smoky carmelized onions. It was so good I used it as the only thing on my salad grens. Overall a very nice meal.

Gave One star just coz you can't write a review without giving a rating. Staffs - Rude Food - Pathetic - Worst indian food i had in US. We ordered one veg aloo tikki chaat..n one non veg starter chicken kabab..worst.. Then came main course..all dishesh were pathetic including daal ..I wonder how can you spoil daal?.. We complained that the daal is not good.. So they got us a replacement as daal makhni with tons of chillies as if it was daal chillie..wtf Dont go!!

Great food, friendly service...one of the rare places in Reno open late on a Monday that isn't completely dead. There were actually a lot of people in there around 930p, which I appreciate coming from LA. Delicious breads (naan), chole, poori, butter chicken. We will definitely be back, new favorite gem in town for authentic eats!

Love the atmosphere of this restaurant, they've done great job in putting this restaurant together. The drink selection is impressive, as they contain all the popular beers of India even Hayward 5000, which you rarely find in an Indian restaurant. The service and the food was very good as well. Overall, a very positive experience.

I usually come here for lunch buffet during the week, but we decided to head here for a mama's valentine special dinner. We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly and given water and our menus. We chose the Royal combo dinner for two, with chicken Tikka Masala and Beef Vindaloo and the chicken tikka, sizzling BBQ chicken with onions and peppers. Indian fajitas? Haha. The meal came with soup, samosas, our entree's, rice and dessert. Along with Naan bread and the crispy cracker stuff with seeds and tamarind sauce. The soup was warm and falvorful, the samosas fresh and just spicy enough to delight the taste buds, and the entrees were both amazing. The atmosphere is more quiet in the evening, it was lovely, the food delicious and the service prompt and courteous. I can't wait to visit again for dinner!

Worst Indian food I have tasted in entire U.S. If you care for your money, time and taste avoid this place. We were so hungry last night and went to this place, since it was 30 mins to close, we placed our order over phone. When we reached this place first they served us a nonveg platter which was stale and I don't know how old the chicken and lamb was, it was as dry as it can and awful in taste. When we called the waiter he is saying since we placed the order on phone, they kept it ready long back, how can you keep the order ready when I reached within 10 mins of my order? They were just trying to cook some story for their worst food. We returned the platter and asked him to make us a chilly chicken, to our disappoint they served us same stale chicken we returned from the nonveg platter. We could hardly eat one piece out of it and returned the dish again. Later we ordered prawn biryani which was some old vegetables pulaw heated with some frozen shrimp, horrible food. Be careful if you don't want to invite a trip to the hospital after eating their food. I will inform the food authorities to inspect their kitchen and ingredients they use for sure.

After not eating at Indian Kabob for quite some time we tried them again. We were glad we did. They have improved a lot especially their staff! So glad they got rid of the previous people there. I think the change was good for them. Very quick, courteous service, the buffet food was very fresh, tasty and plentiful! A good variety of meats and veggies. Their lentil soup I love! I hope they keep it up.

Vegan-friendly, great service, delicious lunch buffet. The buffet is guaranteed to have several vegan options, which usually includes the soup. The lunch buffet is the jam, and will fill you up beyond believe for under $8.00. The water is the most delicious water ever, I can't even describe it. If you go to the buffet, they bring you naan- if you're vegan, tell them when you walk in and request tandoori roti instead of naan, because that's the vegan option. If ordering off of the menu, I highly recommend the tomato coconut soup, samosas, pakoras (friend onions and potatoes), and the aloo ghobi.

We love Indian food, and this place is amazing!!!! We had the chicken tikka masala, which was perfect, and the garlic naan( perfect!). Got to try the raita. Sizes are good enough for 2 normal people to share. Good customer service, also cleanliness level is good and prices are accessible. Fast paced staff and not overcrowded. Mango lassi was great too.

Wooohaaa.. Big Big NO to this restaurant, they don't know how to cook Indian Food. As there are very few options in Reno, We went to this restaurant for lunch and OMG, everyone came out hungry. tea - pathetic!! pakoda - tasteless and disaster malai-kofta - they had chick pea flour balls fried in oil and you need to knives to cut the kofta. Naan - how can anyone screw up Naan !! ambiance - yak .. awful. They were doing some construction during business hrs. for customer - just stay out of this for owner - Dude.. Please go on youtube and search "How to cook indian food?"

Outstanding in presentation, service, atmosphere and quality!!! I will no doubt come here again. The music videos are the bomb! Centrally located easy in and out for lunch. The lunch buffet is the best way to go! For under $10 you can indulge in all you love of Indian cuisine! Everything from the chutney salad dressing to the garlic nan to the curry dishes to the lentil dishes to the smoked bbq chicken is delicious. You will walk out of there smelling like lunch but it is totally worth it! And what a steal! Another amazing point -- the buffet runs all SEVEN days of the week!

Good food and you can't beat the price for all you can eat. I hate smelling like it til I take a shower tho and burping up Indian food for a good 5 hours isn't too fun but I would do it again! The Bollywood shows on their TV will hypnotize you 2/1/2013 Ok so the last time we went we got food poisoning...

My fiance and I come here for lunch sometimes, and once in a while for dinner. The quality of food is generally very good, some dishes can be inconsistent once in a while. Lunch buffet changes every time we go in, which is nice to choose from, but generally has a few of the main staples (Tandori chicken for example). Dinner items have always been good, but no buffet option, so you do pay more. Last night I had the Jhinga Coconut Korma (Shrimp, with a tomato coconut sauce) that was excellent. The shrimp were cook perfectly (they were cleaned first); not rubbery from overcooking. The garlic naan is always good, as it was last night. We're very pleased with the staff as well, and find them attentive. We also like that the restaurant plays Bollywood films, which is fitting for the atmosphere. The interior is nothing special, which is fine with us. It's comfortable. I would give a five star, if not for the inconsistency with the food once in a while.

I am not much of an Indian food fan. I only went to take my wife for her birthday. The waiters and the food were excellent. The food delivery was prompt and they were attentive to our requests and needs. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in search of authentic Indian cuisine.

Best Indian food ever! This place is clean and classy and priced right. The lunch buffet is amazing. The food is all super fresh unlike most buffets. The staff is almost too attentive. It's a great place to hold gatherings or business meetings too.

This place rocks. I've ordered many menu items on many different occasions, and it never fails to amaze. I've also tried a few other similar restaurants in the area yet nothing compares thus far. The ONLY reason I'm giving four stars is because of the service staff's inability to communicate with you. It sometimes seems that, besides who I believe is the owner/manager, no one can really speak English, therefore communicating with anyone else (often including your waiter) for any reason other than ordering food, can be difficult unless you can speak their language. The Chicken Jalfrezi is my absolute favorite entree. When eating indian food, I base my verdict on use of spices, tenderness of meat and quality of their naan. That being said, their meats have always been tender. The vegetable Samosa and garlic naan, are hard to beat anywhere. Top that off with a mango lassi and Gulab Jamun for dessert, and I am in heaven! Finally they offer a lunch Buffett for around 8$ which is actually very delicious and has a few different options to choose from...still, nothing beats the dinner for one or dinner for two because then you get a little bit of everything!

The restaurant is located on a busy intersection. Parking is in the rear and the approach is best made while going south. There is street parking near by. Upon entrance into the restaurant we were immediately greeted by a person who sat us. The place is very clean and the glasses, plates, and silverware were equally as clean. We ordered the lunch buffet, so service was limited. The restaurant was not that busy however there were a steady flow of people. The food was well presented. I have eaten Indian food all over, including having special meals made for me. The food at this restaurant was good, however I felt that the flavors were toned down a bit. I would have expected more flavor. Don't get me wrong. The food was good, and I will eat here again, but let's try to kick it up a notch. Lunch buffet for two was under $18.00.

The food here was ok, but the next time I go looking for Indian food, I'll try somewhere else. I went with three friends. One had the lamb sagg, he said it was good, but not as flavorful as he had hoped. Another ordered the tandoori chicken, she said it was good flavor but very dry. The last shared a chicken korma and a chicken curry with me. They were both werent bad, but not the best. The korma was a bit too sweet and the curry had a LOT of cilantro. The chicken was a processed cubed chicken, clearly frozen/precooked kind. The sauce was great but the rubbery meat ruined it. We ordered garlic naan and jasmine rice to share, and both were great. I tried the chai and definitely wouldnt recommend it. The bill was a bit more than what I expected, but it wasnt unreasonable.

A friend and I arrived there at about 6pm on Tuesday, January 28th 2014. The experience was less than satisfying. My simple advice is to find another place to enjoy Indian food, as you'll no doubt find it better. We ordered Paneer Pakoras as an appetizer. These were hard, cold and inedible. I would have sent them back except our entrees were brought to the table while we were trying to eat them. The entrees were OK, but we had two male servers waiting on us and between the two of them, they forgot to bring the rice that was included in our meals. We were seated just below a wide-screen TV, which was showing Bollywood dance videos. The two servers were hovering uncomfortably close to our table, watching the TV screen during our entire time there. A comedic interlude was provided by another diner, who upon entering shouted "aloha"! He then took a seat at a table, slapped the menu on the table and then ran out across Virginia Street, at his own peril. When we were done with our meal, the two servers combined to ask us three times if we wanted take home boxes. Our answers were (in chronological order): 1) No thank you; 2) No and 3) NO! Indian food can be really excellent and there are places in the Reno/Sparks area which serves exceptional fare. However, not only does India Kabab and Curry not serve top-notch fare, their attitude is: "we couldn't give a RRA (Royal Rat's Posterior) if you aren't satisfied" Do yourself a favor. Go elsewhere.

Delicious buffet, as always. We started a nontraditional, ironic, tradition of Indian on Thanksgiving. This is our favorite Indian restaurant in town. Service is speedy and polite although my family's jokes don't get smiles. Maybe we're not funny. Food is hot and delicious from the buffet or menu.

Unfortunately, this dining experience was poor. Food: The food was reminiscent of 1-minute boil-and-serve Indian packet meals I've purchased from the grocery store. The appetizers tasted like the failed attempts at pakora I had made at home. Dry, dense, and mostly [insta-mix grocery store] batter. Service: The main reason for the low rating was the service. We weren't greeted upon entering, rather motioned by hand to follow the waiter to our table. The waiter wrote nothing down and brought us a meat appetizer instead of the veggie one we'd ordered. When we told him that was the wrong order he insisted we had ordered it--even claimed that's what he had written down. He charged us for both appetizers and after we'd paid he apologized for messing up the order. Recommendation: Hope for another Indian restaurant to open in Reno. If you're going to eat here, go during the buffet so there's a greater chance of finding something you like. If you go for dinner, pass on the appetizers.

I had the lunch buffet, which is very reasonably priced. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and the naan was very good, but sadly I didn't care for anything else I tried. The lentils, saag paneer & beef curry were very mushy and had very little flavor or spice.

Please NO. Don't waste your good dinner Time. we stopped here for the July Long Weekend, to taste good Indian food for our dinner. But all paid Off.throughout the trip we tried Thai, Mexican Cuisine everything was best with the same hope we checked in here. Ambiance was good.Service was fine. But FOOD .... :( we ordered Panner Pakora, i never tasted such a HARD Panner ever, Paneer masala Dosai Oh God..they just sprinkled few paneer slides over the potato masala. And the Dosai Flour i think they just prepared it tasted so Raw. My friends ordered Shrimp Briyani, Chicken Briyani, Completely UNCOOKED rice.Shrimp was not cooked properly and i saw my friends trying hard to cut it with the Knife. Only thing that was eatable was curry's but again the rice which we got with the curry was Not Cooked. We complaint saying that none of the food tastes good. But we received No Response. I will Strongly recommend NO this restaurant.

My neices ( ages six and eight ) and I were excited to take their mom to her birthday lunch. Her pic was Indian food that she absulotly loves. We all went during lunch time hour. Service was good, food was as well. Check came, we paid for the lunch with out even looking at the bill. After we were sitting and talking, when my sister was looking over the bill. She noticed that we were charged incorrectly. We were charged for only one child. My sisters friend proceded to ask the server why we were charged for only one child and the rest adults. We have two children and three adults in our party. He proceeded to say that is because of her size. And that was instructions from his manager. My sisters face dropped with disbelief that he was really saying that. And not to mention that he was saying this all in front of her. My sister was heated with anger that someone would, could and did say that. She left the building with the kids and changed the subject because she could see her daughter was upset. Her friend went back inside to finish the conversation and say he cant believe that. The waiter then changed his statement and said he didnt mean it like that. But how else could that been proceved? We have enjoyed this restaurant on many occasions and never had this been said....or has my neice ever been charged as a adult based on her size!!! I will never again give money to eat at this establishment. They were wrong on so many levels! Please dont support this establishment for what they did was wrong and discriminating.

Best lunch buffet!! They always have at least six or seven different dishes as well and soup and salad. It's a great way to try some dishes you might not order otherwise! And they always have a few amazing and familiar dishes like tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala! Sometimes the staff can be a little slow to refill drinks, which you will need because some dishes are spicy!! I've been here for dinner too. Very nice. The portions are generous and the presentations are beautiful. The cost of the meal does go up quiet a bit though. The lunch buffet is the best way to go!

Thank you, for the great experience. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the prices are very reasonable. The over all experience is is very enjoyable. My wife is very sensitive to food, service quality and she also was very happy. Thank you to the India Kabab and Curry. You guys are great!

India Kabab and Curry is Great. The food for the daily lunch buffet is always hot and delicious. My daughter and her friend absolutely love the chicken tiki masala. The service has always been first class. I eat here at least once a week and all the people that I have brought here love the food. They always treat my friends, family and kids great. If you ever need anything ask for Bishan or Gurdeep. They will take care of you.

The food is incredible. The buffet is ridiculously low in price, I'd pay way more for the quality. My family has been coming here for 11 years now and have enjoyed it every time. They like to change the buffet items on a day to day basis which makes every visit a different experience.

I usually come here for dinner, but on occasion I've dined for the lunch buffet. On my last visit, it was for the ladder. The service and food are consistently good. Great spot for a quick lunch meeting at a very reasonable price. I love the variety of lunch fair at the buffet--your choice of vegetarian to meat eating favorites. You definitely won't go hungry at this place.

This place is great!!! We arrived in time for the lunch buffet (lasts until 3 pm) and everything was delicious. I don't think I've eaten so much in my life! It's one of the cleanest Indian restaurants I've been to (and I've been to a lot) and the waiter was friendly. Bonus: They were playing a cheesy Bollywood movie on two big screens.

India and kebab is bar none the best, most consistent Indian food in Reno. Anyone who does not like their food has not been to India and does not like real Indian food. The food is always consistently made and I have never been disappointed in the service. Highly recommend.

Our experience was definitely not bad but it wasn't stellar either. The service was efficient but not friendly. The garlic naan didn't have a trace of garlic and was slightly burned. The basmati was somewhat dried out. We also got saag paneer and tandoori chicken. We were asked if we wanted it mild, medium and hot and we said hot. I love spicy food and I have to admit the saag paneer was too spicy for me to really enjoy. Next time I would order it medium. The chicken was tender and delicious. We had a side of raita it was perfect with the spicy chicken to cool it off. The prices are reasonable and the portions are plentiful.

Ive always tried to avoid their day service and only eat here at night, but today I went to their lunch buffet and thoroughly enjoyed it. The quality of food and service has really improved. Before the night servers were on point and the day servers were awful, but that's no longer true! Excellent variety fir every pallet, great cocktails and beer, overall great spot for lunch or dinner. I recommend getting the vegetarian dinner for two which runs around $30 with a tip and gets you like three courses. Soup, samosas, two entrees, tea and ice cream. Delicious and authentic.

My dad recently came into town for a visit and he has taken a liking to Indian food- he loves it, and so do I. We came here for dinner ready to throw down an inordinate amount of money. We tried to explain to our server that we wanted to try a variety of dishes and asked him to actually pick or recommend some, as we wanted to learn more about Indian food. Our server didn't seem to understand. So we randomly picked items off the menu for fun- many, many items. Our server brought them all out and when we asked questions about each dish he was annoyed---which was such a bummer! He should try to have some fun with this and be proud to teach people a little more about his culture and the food. During our dinner our server and other servers kept coming up asking if we were done with certain items so they could clear the dishes off the table. We felt like we were being rushed which I loathe while in a restaurant. I know I will be back- but when Dad is in town I think we will try somewhere new.

Great food and pleasant atmosphere. Only complaint is despite the restaurant not being busy (there were maybe four tables full in one dining room when two exist) the wait staff seemed to want us to leave immediately. We were enjoying each others company so that was a little annoying. This isn't the first time the staff have been rude to me and my party, though, suggesting that it's consistent. Otherwise the food is great and quite filling.

Only thing going for this place, from Indian restaurant perspective, is it's better than average ambience and cleanliness. I ordered chicken tikka appetizer, special platter for one with fish curry as entree. All of the items were absolutely below average. Chicken tikka was dry, Tandoori chicken was blah, lamb was bit better, beef kabob sucked. Only thing that was good was papadum and onion relish, again how can that go wrong! They are in business just because they are in Reno, where there not that many Indian restaurants. If it was LA, NYC, Chicago, Dallas or Houston, they would have been out of business long time ago.

We went to the restaurant just around 950pm. Per the website, the restaurant closes at 1030pm, and the website is wrong. However, looking at the number of people in the group - 18 of us, the owner decided to keep the restaurant and the kitchen open for us. This was definitely a great gesture as we had seniors in the group and it would have been a drag for them going to a different restaurant at that time of the night (not too many were open at that time). The food choices were plenty for every one. We ordered a mix of dishes - Shahi Paneer Korma - Shahi Navratan Korma, - Saag Paneer - Chicken Tandoori - Chicken Tikka Masala - Fish curry - Regular Naan - Tandoori Roti - Garlic Naan The food overall was very tasty, though the Navratan Korma was not the typical Navratan Korma - it seemed put together in a hurry, but was tasty nonetheless. Definitely recommend this restaurant, especially with the helpful attitude of the owner at that late an hour of the day.

i have been obsesses with indian food since i made that fateful trip to devon avenue in my hometown for chicago il. if you ever get the chance to visit you might be fooled into thinking you have been dropped into a large indian city, for devon avenue explodes with gustatory culture everywhere. i was hooked on curry, samosas and more from that moment. so, i think i know indian food pretty well and the india kebob has been my go-to place for indian buffet quite a few years. i cant remember ever not being satisfied here. the place is always full (a good sign), the buffet food appealing and tasty, the naan bread perfect and the surly, cold east indian service spot on! my only complaints are no samosas with the buffet (a disturbing trend i see elsewhere), kheer (rice pudding) is missing in action (nag the waiter and you can get some) and no self respecting east indian could ever accept the cold, practically syrup-less gulab jamen. gulab jamen, imho, deserves more respect than that. but though i consider dessert important, i still love this place! there are other, new indian buffets in reno but it will take alot to change this habit. kebob and curry is quite good.

IIKC has been around for a long time, and for most of that time the food was bland and inconsistent (though unfortunately the best you could get in Reno). For example, the Chicken Tikka Masala often tasted like they used catchup as the base; other times it had a nice creamy tomato flavor. Something changed a couple of years ago and they improved both their consistency and the flavor. Now the Tikka Masala is consistently good. But other than the Chicken Tikka Masala and samosas (both still the best in Reno), there's not much to recommend here. The food is OK, but the service is consistently lacking. As my friend says, it's like they're automatons; emotionless robots serving your food. I've been there often enough that the owner says hi, but he's the only one who even seems to remember me despite going there a few times a month for several years. Better options have opened up in the past month or so and I've moved on from this unfriendly restaurant.

Dinner Menu for 3: Appetizer: Chef's sampler - it's ok; the tamarind sauce is good; I won't order again Masala Dosa - good Lamb Curry - good Vegetable Korma - good Basmati Rice - very good We all liked what we ordered and left full. I liked having the choice of spice level. I ordered mild and it was just right.

We had a bad experience in terms of quality and service in this restaurant. Firstly, they served a spoiled food and we had to get it replaced. Biriyani here is a funny thing I have ever had before. Its Peas pulav mixed with chicken pieces. Better avoid this if you want authentic Indian style food.

I had been to India Kabab and Curry a couple of times before my one negative experience here. Our party of 4 (including myself) arrived around 4:30 pm. They placed us right by the entrance where there is more traffic, even though we were the only customers in the building at the time. I thought that was odd, since sitting by a busy area is not always the most pleasant experience. Next our waiter only gave us about 5 minutes before she started asking us what we wanted. We barely had any time to review their menu. When we receive our order, the food was very bland and not warm enough. I ordered the chicken masala. In addition, we asked for spices and they tried to steer us away from our request, "But you already ordered medium spice in your order" Ok...so I can't ask for more? They then bring us a type of spicy sauce, but not the powder. It is the type to put on your wings or used for dipping. We then requested for the spice again and finally they bring it out. Their dining service was not the best. And when it came time to clear our table, the waiter grabs the dipping spicy sauce and spice and throws it on the rest of the platters as if trying to show us his disgust that we did not finish it completely. It was childish and rude. I was unsatisfied with my experience here and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone in the future. I was actually embarrassed that I had brought my friends here.

Best Indian in Reno now. Buffet improved significantly to now the best as there are a few others on the same street. A few down the street when you walk in have so little food old and dry but this place has large bins with recently made food. Excellent carbonated sodas means good upkeep and this place is busy meaning consistent fresh food. Quality, fresh, lunch buffet great value. Highly recommend.

Was happy to find out that this place delivers. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with lots of garlic naan. The masala serves about two people. Have to say that because of the pricing for delivery, it would be much cheaper to eat during the lunch buffet. However, because I do not have a car, delivery was my only option. Besides the pricing, the food was great and will definitely order again when I am craving some Indian food. Yum! (:

The food was extremely fresh. Getting there 20 minutes after opening-time was a good idea! Well, not to say it wouldn't be fresh otherwise, but...yeah. It was our first time here. Lunch buffet, FYI. The outside is very unassuming. The inside...beautiful lighting. Very clean. Very polite staff. My most favorite, FAVORITE thing from Indian restaurants is lamb saag. Followed closely by saag paneer. Hey, I just freaking love saag. This place had saag, but in the form of chana saag, which I haven't had before, but thoroughly enjoyed. The cauliflower pakora was amazing. Not too fried or greasy. The chicken masala was pretty outstanding. Huge chunks of chicken in an amazing sauce. They give you a choice of regular or garlic naan. This thrilled me. The naan took a moment to bring out because it was obviously being made fresh. It was SO good. Minus one star for beef curry. The meat was tough, the sauce was pretty flavorless as far as curry goes, and only really tasted like...meat. And additionally...beef curry? I won't say any more. I also love tamarind chutney and this place does it right! I'm also very used to Indian places having firni as a dessert, but this one had 'fruit creme' which was pretty darn good. It was some sort of mango creme with different little chunks of fruit in it. By the time I finished my tiny bowl, it really reminded me of melted ice cream. It was good, though! If I go to Reno again, I think I will want to come here again, but I REALLY hope they have a lamb dish next time.

  • Francis L.

I am giving 1 star because the service was positively horrible it took 10 minutes to get naan when people who arrived after us got naan before us. After we finished with our plates and got more food it took them half an hour to clear away the dirty plates, when I requested more naan they said they would bring some but again everyone else got naan while we were ignored, the service is positively rude. I didn't even leave a tip because of how badly we were treated, they had a comment card and I gave them a very bad review there too. The food wasn't so bad the tikka masala was pretty good, the rice was tasty, they had a beef dish ( thought Indians didn't eat or cook beef? Must be a different type of Indian?) The green spinach stuff was way to spicy, the garbonzo beans tasted sweet, the tandoori chicken was tasty and the garlic naan what I was able to get was quite tasty. I will not be returning here, their service needs to improve a 100%.

I've been here a couple of times and the service just gets better and better. Our server gave my boyfriend a free salad and our food came out so fast! The Kabobs are incredible even just as an appetizer and the baklava is out of this world. The best way to end the date is to share an awesome dude! Also, the lunch specials are a very reasonable price.

The malai kofta is the best I've ever had. They serve a lentil soup, so good and wholesome. And the garlic naan! I've tried most of the vegetarian items, and for me, it's these three. Even if I go at lunch, i'll order these off the menu and skip the buffet.

Very ordinary. You might enjoy this restaurant if you've never eaten good Indian food. Three of us at a lunch buffet there on a Saturday. The atmosphere was fine, and the restaurant was full. We tried 3 chicken dishes - curry chicken, chicken tick masala and tandoori chicken. The flavor of the chicken curry was boring (not subtle or complex, like a good curry) and included no discernible vegetables. This is also true with the chicken tikka masala - ordinary flavor, chicken didn't seem fresh. The tandoori chicken's flavor was ok, but seemed a little undercooked. There was also a spinach dish called "saag" which in other Indian restaurants usually also includes paneer - or fried Indian cheese. Just not interesting. Absent were more unusual dishes, or vegetable dishes like aloo gobi (cauliflower). We were served ok nan at the table. Overall, very poor. The service was fine. We will not be back.

I agree with the more recent reviews below by SA, Randy and Srikanth N. I'd guess I've eaten at around 30 Indian Restaurants all around our area here; but also in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Japan, Sadly, this was once a very vibrant place to eat a buffet lunch but the food is now old, cold, and tasteless. Worse, the plain Nan (no garlic) is now offered on the steam table and not fresh to the table anymore. Desserts are also few/far between now... And worst of all the curry dishes are now either old and unidentifiable vegetarian ones or recycled 3 day old tandori chicken based...not exactly appetizing. They also blatantly discourage families with children from dining here since they've continually tried to charge my family for our *two year old* sitting at the same table and eating one or two spoonfuls... No buffet in any city EVER has tried to do that to us (or any of our friends with babies) before - it's aggravating and our only conclusion is that they just want to discourage young families from eating here. So be it. Maybe they're just trying to cheaply cash in on their not-that-great past notoriety....too bad, We'll find another favorite Indian place and I'll update this review with it when we find it in a few weeks ; (

If you like oily Indian food that makes you feel disgusting after eating, this place is for you. The sauces are heavy, heavy, HEAVY and the meat is always rough. The lunch buffet is nothing worth recommending- flavorless and drab at best. Unfortunately, this is the only Indian place in Reno worth going to (that I know of right now). The service is hit or miss! Sometimes they're friendly and sometimes they're absent and uninterested. The last time I visited, some crazy homeless guy came in and started yelling at me and my boyfriend about a bunch of people dying. The air races had just gone awry, (like we were in the middle of watching the footage- the owner had changed the tv channel to the news story about the crash) so it was pretty traumatic! The owner didn't even do anything about this crazy dude, but when he went to another table, a waiter chased him off. We were pretty uncomfortable, and nobody came over to apologize or anything! Mediocre at best!

I would give 000000 for this restaurant as it's not allowed I am giving one. Me and my friend went to eat the food. Food was ok. We requested to give little more sound as it was too low but they didn't even reply politely. They said it right in our face, " NO WE CANT". We were like wtf! Ok no problem. They played some Bollywood songs we were watching and they changed it to news channel. As they said no remote and can't change. I don't know how did they changed the channel! They lied even they had the remote. The news was coming something dead and can't even watch during u eat. Such a discussing place. They didn't even thank while we come in and didn't even thank while we leave. Just stared at us. I have never been to worst customer service place in my life!!! We r such great tipper but still tipped little for their worst service. I will never even look at this again in my life !!!!!!

My visit there a few days ago was laughable, deeply laughable. I walk in and the lady approaches and says "One?" I say yes please, she says nothing and points at that crappy little table against the entryway glass. Not really a big deal but it's pretty empty and on the back side of the lunch rush. Lots of other empty 2 seat tables available. I just shrugged it off, cause I did get to stare at that hot mannequins ass the whole lunch. She then says "Drink?" I ask her for a small Taj Mahal, thanks. "Buffet?" ,....looks like we are getting into a rhythm here.... I go about eating, a guy drops a basket of plain Naan bread , usually they ask you if you want garlic or regular, but since they were obviously trying to not go over on their word allotment for the month, he just plops it down and keeps walking. I see (or hear) no one the whole lunch, empty beer, empty water. After I was finished eating, I put my plate and napkin off to the side, a little while later the lady comes up and says "Done?" I say yes thank you, she says nothing and walks off. A short while later, she walks up, plops the check wallet on the table and walks off, pretty efficient really as she did not have to waste a word on that one. I sit with my card sticking out the end of the check wallet for 5-10 minutes, and she is just half way across the room looking my way occasionally, folding napkins with another worker. No movement or look like she might be heading my way anytime soon. I tried twice to give her the I'm ready look, (the place is almost empty now it's 1:45) She must have correctly figured I was on to her, and was planning on tricking her into wasting words. So she was taking no chances, those things are not easy to come by you know. So after 10 minutes I walk up to the bar area, the guy wastes no words, literally says NOTHING, he takes the check, runs my card, sets the ticket and a pen down, I return the favor and give him no words, and no tip. I have not zeroed a tip in a long while, but I also have never been into a place and had a drink and food and literally only had 4 words said to me. I have gotten two words before, "GET OUT!" , but that is usually before I have sat down. The service here is the most indifferent that you could possibly provide, bordering on hostile. I don't get the total lack of any interest in the most basic of interaction. It's not even like I was wearing a -"Vishnu is a Tool"- T-Shirt or something The food was, not bad, just Meh' ,.. I will be going to Indian Garden from now on for my Indian food needs. I will never come back here.

I'm not really a fan of this kind of food. Well, actually I just don't know how to really eat it is more like it.. My food combo plate came with so much food it was hard to eat it all.. But I tried my best and had tons of leftover. The meat is fresh, soup is amazing. The fried potato meat thing was delicious as well. Rice is authentic made Alalslswllalq and yeah good establishment!

When the roommate and I decided on Indian food, I was skeptical of trying out another restaurant. I find something good, and I kinda stick to it. Her recommendation was fantastic! After looking at a gigantic menu, we settled on the Royal Indian Dinner for Two, which came with a hot lentil soup, vegetable samosas, some kabob, two entrees (we ordered chicken tikki masala and chicken curry), and a dessert (or coffee/tea). (1) The soup was SO good that I ALMOST ordered an entire thing of it to take home. I didn't because we had so much food leftover. (2) The samosas were really great. (3) I didn't have any chicken kabob, but the beef was flavorful and really good. (4) LOVED my tikki masala that went with their naan and rice. I actually did order another thing of rice and naan to take home, as we had devoured all the rest of it during the meal and I needed something to go with my tikki masala the next day! (5) For dessert I got a Punjabi ice cream, and I would definitely order it again. It was super exotic, with all sorts of flavors you wouldn't normally find in an ice cream here. It was really different, which is what I loved the most! Despite the great food, the service was lacking. They were really a non-presence outside of bringing the food, and we had to ask for a dessert menu. They looked like they were angry or something, which made our meal pretty awkward at first. I mean, roommate and I are Socially Awkward Penguins - we are uncomfortable around angry waitstaff, especially. How is that good for your stomach? I mean, it's not relaxing, it's tense...and eating while you're tense is bad. I'll definitely go back, considering how good it is, but I'm gonna have to consult honey badger on not giving a fuck because otherwise it'll just be another meal in uncomfortable-ville.

This has become my favorite restaurant (and not simply because I live within walking distance). I have dined in and taken out and the food and service has been consistently excellent. I normally go with the medium spice which gives a nice, but not overpowering kick. The Veggie Pakoras, Murg Curry and Jhinga Curry are among my favorites.

Not a huge fan of this restaurant. I haven't found it to be consistent. Sometimes bland, Sometimes spicy (referring to the buffet. ) The service is efficient but not very friendly. I wouldn't recommend... but if friends were going there I would go again.

It is overall pretty good, my partner and I recently went there after looking in the window a week prior. The prices are pretty fair for lunch, cheaper than some of the nearby restaurants of similar cuisine. However, the food I found was also better, their Lentil Soup was so good I went back for a second serving. My partner loved the Tandoori Chicken and we both loved their Naan. Put a bit of their curry on their Naan and you're in for a treat. The atmosphere was actually quite good, the layout of the restaurant isn't difficult and the decor is cute. The Bollywood videos playing in the back actually adds a nice finishing touch. The service is the only reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars. While they were fast and efficient, none of them were friendly or outgoing. As others have said, it was like being served by robots who you have to wonder what they must think of you. The young man had a better attitude than the rest, but the others were either distant or unpleasant. So if you don't mind the waitstaff being curmudgeonly, go for the excellent food.

Noticed that most of my fellow Indians did not have good things to say about this restaurant. Luckily for me I did not read too many reviews before going to this place. As a tourist I was just looking for some Indian food after a long day learning skiing. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It has a nice ambiance and is pretty clean. We ordered some fried vegetable appetizer, a butter chicken, jhinga masala and some plain naan. There did not seem to be much of a difference between the curry base used for the butter chicken vs jhinga masala but the curry did taste pretty good. The chicken was nice and boneless and tender. The jhinga (prawns) were of good quality as well. The service was pretty good for an Indian restaurant. Our particular waiter was attentive and provided us with water and drinks refills promptly. Overall not a bad experience. If I was in Reno and tired of the Buffets I would be happy to try out this place again.

Nothing Great...not terrible. It did quench my appetite for Indian. Vegetable Samosa were plain. Won't get again. Jhinga Chaat (Shrimp Chaat) was the best overall dish we had. Good flavor. Will explore the chaat's more on future visits. Mulligatawany Soup was just ok. Garlic Naan was awesome. Cooked perfectly and was very light. Dahi Bhala (Lentil Dumplings) also very plain. They weren't dumplings...more like lentil donuts swimming in cucumber yogurt. Saag Paneer was most disappointing... reminded us of creamed spinach. Murg Tikka Masala... the sauce was very plain. Had a "tomato from the can" kind of flavor. However, the tandori chicken in the dish was FANTASTIC. Everything lacked flavor and spice. We ordered Medium and got bland. We will go back only after exploring other Indian options.

Decent food, sambar is definitely bad. Do not order paav bhaji if you plan to have the one you get in Mumbai. This one doesn't have the gravy. Service is okay. But food arrives a bit late.

Whenever I'm in Reno I like to hit the Indian buffets or the sushi places. So, on this particular day we decided to do their lunch buffet. It has really gone downhill from when we were there last year. I found all the dishes too similar to one another to really discern one from another, with the exception of course of the Chicken tiki masala and the tandoori or the beef. They've really toned down their food, they need to bring it back up to what it was last year. The lentil dishes and the vegetable dishes dishes way too similar and boring. I had to get extra hot chutneys to make it interesting. I give it an average rating. After all, for a quick average Indian buffet lunch, it's OK, and for the price you can't beat it. For two of us we spent $20 and that came with two sodas.

Awesome service. Lunch buffet can be tough, but the restaurant was staffed with enough servers who brought us naan on command. Haha, well we had a hungry party of 4 and a half and the half didn't eat much except the delicious fresh out of the oven naan. Delicious, hot and garlicy! The plain and garlic naan come with the AYCE, but they have a wide variety of naan that are savory and sweet. I'm from San Francisco and am spoiled with a diverse cuisine and have had some pretty awesome Indian food. The food here is comparably better. And the variety of food for the AYCE is perfect. You can't go wrong with the Murg (Chicken) Tikka Masala and there was plenty of it with lots of tender juicy tandoori chicken bits! It wasn't overly spiced although I could have handled that! Their Chili Chicken was amazing and the Veggie Fritters in a creamy yellow curry sauce were yummy! (NOT FILLED WITH A LOT OF FLOUR) The choice of dressings catered to both the foreign and native palette of the US. Traditional creamy yogurt dressing, Italian dressing and another were offered alongside their onion chutney, mint chutney and pickled mushrooms. The mint chutney softened the blow of all the spices and herbs in the sauces! I thought the yogurt dressing could be a bit more flavorful, but it was perfect alongside all the other dishes already full of intense flavors. I want to just say that the mushrooms were delicious and my favorite. The mushrooms were chilled and sour; it made for a refreshing gush of flavor. The fresh fruit was good too, they offered slices of apple, chunks of watermelon and orange wedges. I WANT SOME MORE...as I told the others at my table "I could eat this all day and not be sick of it"

Me and my husband come to this place all the time for the lunch buffet, as it' only around $8. We love the cozy feel of the store. It's always a bit on the warm side when you get in, but you get used to it real fast, especially with the spicey food. There's also two TV's with bollyood playing. Some people don't like it, but I love it! Especially because a majority of the songs are love songs. SWOON! :D The service is always great. Their english isn't always good but they're friendly, prompt and you can usually understand the staff despite the occasional language stumbles. I think the food is also really good. The dal is usually my favorite, and this is probably the only restaurant I actively enjoy eating totally vegetarian. I always always ALWAYS get dal and a mango lassi. If it's cold, I also get masala chai. NUMMY! The onion chutney is, hands down, the best onion chutney I've had from anywhere. The Naan is ALWAYS hot, fresh, slightly chewy and wonderful. They have a bar, but I've never only sat at the bar so I can't really speak of it's quality. I highly recommend this place. Any time my brother visits or when I go out with coworkers, I suggest Kabab and curry because it's so tastey and affordable!

June 11, 2011 Saturday - lunch 12 noon 4 adults, 1 teenager Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 4 stars Background - Been here a few times in the past but it has been a while since I had been. Atmosphere - A small strip mall restaurant in an old building with cozy feel and the smell of great food. TV's had a music channel on showing Indian music videos. Food Appetizer - I skipped the salad. Main Course - At lunch time the restaurant serves a buffet and we all went with that. They have a nice mix of vegetarian food and chicken meals to choose from. I think I tried a little of all the main courses. Dessert - I had the Kheer from the buffet. A rice dish which was a nice cleansing of the palate. The group said it was like rice pudding, I have never had it so I cannot really comment but felt it was worth stating as it seemed relevant. Service - There were two groups in our party and half showed up a little late. When they did it took a bit for them to take their drinks orders.

We are having the lunch buffet and its packed! Mango lasi is good. Nan is good to but I'm waiting for the buffet line to die down. Well, I got in line and tried almost everything. Wife pointed out that its either vegetarian or chicken, no Lamb or goat. The food is very American with only the chicken curry being the most authentic I have found so far. Food: 3 Serve: 3 Value: 3.5 I'll be back, but I'm not in love.

Mediocre food at best and inattentive service. I love Indian food and when done well it always hits the spot. Unfortunately, the dinner here was forgettable and underwhelming. Since I was hungry, I hurriedly selected 3 entrees and all 3 turned out to be disappointing. All 3 dishes were served at the same time in less than 5 minutes which started me thinking that they may all be pre-cooked and just heated up to serve. The first entree was MASALA DOSA which is a South Indian style crepe made from rice and lentils and stuffed with potatoes and onions. The potatoes were almost rancid which suggested to me that the stuffings were definitely not fresh and prepared awhile ago. So even though the crepe tasted crunchy, the potatoes spoilt the whole dish! The second entree I guess was an Indian classic MURG (CHICKEN) CURRY which I always use as a barometer to test how good their curry was. The flavor was just ok with chunks of dark meat chicken and nothing else. It was too garlicky for me and certainly failed to impress. The third entree was a rice plate MURG BIRYANI which was made with Basmati rice with chunks of dark meat chicken, onions, nuts and raisins. The rice tasted like leftover rice and was bland with no kick that one can expect from Indian food. Service was sorely lacking. The Indian lady (owner?) was a lady with few words who quickly took my orders and was never to be seen or heard again. Water was never refilled and no one bothered to check on the dinners. I did notice as one yelper previously commented that the help did act like indentured slaves which I thought was quite amusing. I may give this restaurant another chance but probably not any time soon.

The review is for the $8 Lunch Buffet. For the selection of curry and free endless garlic or plain naan bread, it is a very good value. The flavor is a bit Americanized -- the more traditional Indian places have a heavier spices flavoring in the dishes; regardless, I'm very happy with it. Parking was a pain since there are about 12 spaces shared by 5 other businesses. Service was great at my visit. The servers constantly came over to refill our water and bread. As for the owners not smiling... well, that is more of a cultural thing. Aside from Americans, most people don't smile as much. You can always tell an American tourist from others in Asia and Europe by one of two methods: 1) overweight and/or 2) always smiling. I would be worried if an Indian saw me a broke into a smile. The two types of people smiling at strangers in India are either mentally challenged or they want something from you. Be wary of smiling foreigners.

The food here is consistently good and the lunch buffet is $7.99 and is a good deal with a lot of choices. I eat here a few times a month.

I enjoy this place. It's located in the Midtown area of Reno. The parking situation is okay. There's an average-sized dirt lot in the back of the restaurant. If it's packed, you can expect to park in the lots of surrounding businesses. It's not that bad, just a short walk if that's the case. Inside the restaurant is very charming. You are greeted by a female mannequin, dressed in traditional attire. Always on the televisions is India's answer to MTV, airing music videos of hits from India's biggest musicians. During one of my last visits, I remember seeing/hearing A.R. Rahman's "Jai Ho" of Slumdog Millionaire fame, and saying, "Hey, I know this song... All right!" The restaurant definitely caters to both the meat eaters and the vegetarians. Both options are delicious. With every meal you get some naan. I truly recommend the garlic version. Lots of flavor. Sometimes, it does come out too burned, but nothing that a little chutney or the restaurant's hot sauce can't fix. Much of the time, customers pack the restaurant to have the lunch buffet. It's a great value at $7.95 a person, and it has all the popular items, including vegetable pakoras, a crispy delight made even better with hot sauce and mint chutney. Sometimes, they will have some vegetable samosas, and it's like my birthday because I love those pastries. Much recommended in either/or the buffet and dinner time. Another favorite of the lunch buffet is the chicken tikka masala. Of course, they sometimes have the vegetarian version, with either mushroom or tofu, but many people flock to this tray. If you don't know what it is, it's chicken or veggies marinated in spices and yogurt that is then baked in a tandoor oven and served in a sauce that has a mixture of spices. Simply amazing. Of course, there is the tandoori chicken, which is roasted and prepared with yogurt and spices. Certainly, it's not the best I've had. Sometimes, it can be dry as it sits in the buffet tray. However, it still has a lot of good flavor. For the vegetarians, I recommend the Aloo Chole, which they have most of the time at the buffet. As the restaurant describes it: "Whole chick peas and potato balls cooked with onions, tomatoes, spices and a sauce, garnished with fresh coriander." If you're looking to go for dinner, you're going to pay a little bit more for your main courses. You'll pay around $10+ for your mains. With that said, the restaurant is still busy and the food is pretty damn good. I highly recommend the Vindaloo Curry. It's essentially a rush of flavors hitting you all at once, in a good way. And, as a person who likes spicy, I was sweating pretty good... Another flavorful dish is the korma, which has meat cooked with exotic spices, herbs, cashews, almonds and raisins in a mild cream sauce. Certainly is another favorite of mine during dinner time. As for the service, it's gotten a little bit better as the girlfriend and I continue to eat there. Some of the food is spicy, and you need a lot of refreshments to cool down the burn. They're pretty good about coming around with water, but if you have a soda or a lassi (beverage with yogurt and rose water), they can sometimes overlook them when it's empty. So, don't be afraid to let them know you need a refill. Otherwise, you may be waiting for awhile. Overall, I would suggest trying this place if you haven't already. It's relatively healthy, and has wonderful dishes.

This is a review update, specifically on the buffet section. India Kabab & Curry may have long been a favorite Indian restaurant of mine, but until today, I had yet to try the restaurant's buffet. This update will be shorter than most of my reviews, as the buffet is pretty much on the same level of high quality the dinner meals are on. Food quality: Superb, but five stars requires that special atmospheric, cultural, unique touch. Not to say the food is lacking in any way, though. For lunch, I had a few spoonfuls of Indian rice, and three pieces of Tandoori chicken. The rice was similar to Naan and Kabab's in quality, which is a good thing. Ah, how I love consistency of quality. The chicken was, again, some of the best I've had; tender, moist, and filled to the absolute brim with flavor. Too bad we missed out on the peppery crackers this time. Food quantity: As for quantity of food, unsurpassed. As I was dining, I was wondering, "Only that much for all this?". It's but $7.95 for a lunch buffet, seven days a week! What a great deal! I actually started to ponder if they were losing money from this spectacular (in the consumers' eyes, anyway) operation of theirs. I wouldn't mind at all a slight price increase, perhaps to $9.95 or so. Service: Looking good! Waitstaff came over to us, seated us promptly, and served us our drinks and complimentary Naan (Indian flatbread). Yes, we had to get our own food, but a tip of two bucks we still found worthy. Atmosphere: Same great cultural atmosphere, complete with TVs playing Bollywood, and a nice interior. They're expanding right now - see my original review for details. Overall: I would return to the buffet in a heartbeat, to satisfy any Indian food cravings at lunch time (11:00 to 3:00). Great and wholly satisfying in all aspects, like dinner here. 4/5 stars Food quality: 90% (Buffet) Food quantity: 99% (Buffet) Service: 80% Atmosphere: 80%
