One of my favorite places in Reno. Great place to eat at, but I'm a huge fan of taking some Pad Thai home. Bangkok Cuisine + Netflix = Awesome weeknight

Ordered the green curry tofu n veggies, then menu did not indicate cabbage. Had to send it back and ended up with a totally different order. Food: 3 Service: 2 Ambience: 2

This is my go-to when it's been a long week and all I want to do is put on some comfy clothes and veg out in front of the TV with some Pad Thai... Or Crab Rangoon... Or Sizzling Platter... Or Chicken Yellow Curry... Or some permutation of the aforementioned. This is comfort food to me. Consistent quality, dependable. Good service. However, as good as it is for take out, it's just as good for dining in.

This is all you need to know: Best Thai food ever. Plain and simple. Don't even risk going anywhere else. You will be selling yourself short.

Another amazing order from our favorite place. Service is so exceptional and the Pud Thai is to die for. A must must must

Large Thai salad was great, w/ shrimp, chicken, (so so) tofu. Nice Padi. Service was ok service was fast 7pm Thursday night.

The service was good that is why I gave them 3 stars. The food on the other hand was not the greatest. The sauce were too thin and watery that the sauce became so tasteless. Sorry, this restaurant did not quite make my recommended level.

Shared two entree's with my girlfriend. First order was the Bangkok Sizzling Platter w/beef. I really enjoyed the dish especially the homemade peanut sauce which I was spooning on all the sticky white rice that was provided. The 2nd entree was the Spicy Cashew Chicken. the GF doesn't care for spicy food, so it was ordered at a #2 heat (medium). Much to my surprise, it was much hotter than that, water needed STAT! The dish was still good and had plenty of cashews as well that added flavor. Overall, this was a great place to eat. Each of our entree's were $10 and when you use your YELP! check-in you save 15%, which is worth it.

Went in and tried the lunch special. Since lunch specials tend to be high volume, I expected hot and fresh. Not so. Soup was fine, egg roll inedible, green curry sauce somewhat broken, and ginger pork a bit bland. Bland is a good descriptor of this lunch.

The best Thai in Reno! I've been here several times and had take out many more times than that. The food is consistently good, and I've never had cause for complaint about the service. I especially like the green curry, and coconut soup, but everything I have had here has been great. This is my go-to place whenever I get a craving!

  • Alex A.

As always, the coconut chicken soup was amazeballs, the pad Thai was delicious as well. Washed down with a Thai iced tea I couldn't picture a better lunch.

This is the best Thai food in town from my experience. Top notch food and service. I've taken my family here and they loved it too. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I like spicy food, so I was impressed to find that their 4/5 on the scale was a true 4 as I can't really imagine what 5 would be like.

Really great Thai food. This is our first Thai experience in Reno, so I don't have a good comparison. They were out of the whole fried fish, which is what I had my heart set on, so that was a bummer right away. We had a sampler platter, which was really quite delicious. I had the curry, and it was solid The portion size was just not, not overwhelming. Service was really great, as well.

During my travels, I have sampled Thai food at numerous restaurants across the west coast. I love Yellow Curry with Chicken and typically try it at a new Thai place to see how it stacks up. Bangkok Cuisine, in my view, is the benchmark. Equally savory are the Pad Thai, Sizzling Bangkok Platter, Roti and Thai Iced Tea. If you like Thai food, or want to discover whether you do, you won't be disappointed.

We've eaten at quite a few Thai places and what can I say this is like the best Thai food we've had yet. Good job guys it was delicious. Thank you Gong for your great service.

The environment wasn't too shabby very dim inside. The hostess, waiters, waitresses, and staff were nice to our party and made sure we were serviced. The rice could've been cooked better and the combo noodles as well but the flat noodles that were pan fried with sauce were tasty. Thai Ice Coffee and Thai Ice Tea were good to go. I think it wasn't such a bad place, maybe come again to try other dishes will come back.

  • Sara W.

Service was poor and food was mediocre. The fresh rolls were decent, peanut sauce was good. The sizzling platter was too sweet. The basil fried rice was very bland. Ordered it very hot and it wasn't even close to that. We did get 15% off for checking in at the location but this did not make up for the food. We will not return.

I think that the food here is amazing--it is definitely the best Thai food in Reno. When I lived in Reno, I went to lunch at Bangkok whenever I had the chance. My BFF introduced me to this place, and I am forever indebted to her. My favorites: Shrimp Rangoons, Sizzling Platter, and the Chicken Panang Curry. Yum...my mouth is watering... Service is good, and the food is great at the home location and the South location.

Best pad thai I've had in town. Soy sauce noodles are pretty darn tasty too. Service is always fantastic, definitely recommend. Many vegetarian choices but you can always add meat if you wish. Don't be afraid to try it without though. The only thing I don't like is that they can't seem to repair their building either at all or very well. There has been a spot in the dining room on the ceiling where it's covered in duct tape. It's just an eyesore.

  • Reno C.

Best Thai in Reno. Been going for years, and I like the ambiance, and decor. I think the one on S. Virginia is more spacious and newer, but I like them both. I love the Basil Chicken and it's just the right amount of spice. Service is kind of touch & go sometimes at the one on Virginia, but the one on Mt. Rose I've never had an issue. I recommend to anyone who loves Thai or someone who wants to try for the first time!

Soups are enormous and yummy. The thom kai soup had so many good sized shrimp. Pad Thai was pretty good and pineapple fried rice was decent. Friends and I were pretty happy with our meal AND the 15% off coupon was money :)

I have been to Bangkok Cuisine a countless number of times. My top two favorite dishes are the Pad Thai and hot and sour soup; they are both phenomenal! The service here is alright although I usually order takeout. The only reason why I considered giving Bangkok Cuisine four stars and not five is primarily because of my experience I had the other night. Whenever I order the Pad Thai I ALWAYS get beef added to it with extra meat. When I placed my order for takeout, Stephanie had informed me they don't allow beef to be added to the Pad Thai. I'm thinking to myself, "since when?" I had them place the order without the beef anyway and figured I would talk to someone when I got there. I found myself amazed when the gentlemen at the counter told me "they've never done that" and "it must've been another Thai restaurant." I thought that was interesting seeing as I was there two weeks ago with a couple of girlfriends and all three of us had ordered beef in with the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. Nonetheless, the food was still great! Edit: The owner, Kris, messaged me on Yelp after reading my review and explained the Pad Thai recipe is actually a family recipe that is preferred to be unaltered and apologized for any confusion regarding my situation. Kris stated other meats are often requested at Bangkok Cuisine and will be looking into adding these requests to the menu. Kudos to him for reaching out to me!

I've only been here once for takeout but the service was great, surprisingly quick even though I ordered in person when I got there, and the food was great. I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to spice but I hate when mild means no spice at all. Bankok Cuisine's mild level was the perfect balance for me, not bland, but not overwhelmingly spicy. I had the pumpkin curry with tofu, which was delicious (though next time I'll probably opt for mixed veggies instead of tofu, just because I think they'll go better with that dish). Also had the fried tofu appetizer which wasn't bad but wasn't great enough to warrant ordering again. Will definitely be back, looking forward to trying the mango with sticky rice. Forgot to mention, if you check in on yelp or download their app, you get 15% off your order!

I have to say that I was pretty impressed by the food here. The cheesy neon signs outside almost deterred me from going in. Glad I went forward with it. The service was spotty although the guy who refilled our waters was totally on it! We ordered eggplant with chicken and also duck curry. Both dishes were very tasty and quite authentic. The serving sizes reflected the price. The restaurant is big with lots of room for multiple parties. Parking is minimal on the lot so you might have to find one elsewhere. 4 stars.

From the outside, this place looks like it would be a run down strip club. The inside is much nicer, with clean floors and tables, and decor that is modern and sophisticated. We were seated in the middle of the dining area. There was only one other table eating when we arrived. We looked at the menu and agreed on one appetizer, one soup, and an entree, Dessert would be decided later if we enjoyed the food first. Unfortunately, we never made it to the dessert. Our server was extremely nice, and enthusiastic. We decided on the golden baskets, which was featured on their signature appetizers page. We also ordered the chicken coconut soup, and the basil fried rice. The golden baskets were unlike anything that I have ever had. The tofu created a strange texture to the individual "baskets." They were hard, and all the other ingredients were soft. The combination of ingredients just did not flow harmoniously. The peanut sauce did not compliment the dish either. Overall, the only thing that was good with this dish was the actual shell of the "baskets." The soup came out while we were working on the appetizer. We were contemplating on ordering the large portion, but we were so glad we did not. Size was not the issue here, but rather, the taste of the soup. The bitterness was very unexpected. There was way too much lemongrass, and/or other herbs. Sometimes less is more. I was expecting a sweet coconut curry soup, with just a little bit of heat to excite the palette. My expectations came crashing down, hard and fast. The chicken was dry. The only thing good about the dish was that we got a small portion so we did not have to waste as much. Next up on the menu was the basil fried rice. We were not expecting much after what we had eaten. It was very little surprise to find the fried rice was a let down. The rice was mushy, and the overall flavor was just not good. I have to bump up the stars to two because the customer service exceeded my expectations. Sadly, just because service is great, that does not mean the food is. I have definitely had better thai food elsewhere. What a shame. This place has so much potential.

This is a review for the food truck not the restaurant. So far it is my favorite food truck at food truck friday. Everything we got was really yummy and fairly filling. The price was right as well. The pad Thai was a little bland, but good. The thing that REALLY bothered me and lost them a star was the $1 surcharge for paying with a card. They are already charging more for a limited menu at food truck friday the card thing is annoying.

We usually frequent another Thai place which is down the road on Virginia St, but this time we were feeling a bit lazy and decided to come here since it is closer to where we live. And we were not disappointed! But at the same time, it didn't surpass our usual spot which in my opinion has better ambiance, food is a bit above in the quality of taste and the portion size is bigger. Food was great, as well as service. So it's not like we won't be back. A bonus is the 15% check in discount, so don't miss out on that!

It has been a while since I have eaten here, not much as changed. Some ole' busy, but consistent food, atmosphere, and service. To start out with my two negatives: 1. Restaurant staff was busy and they seemed understaff, waiter forget water until nearly after I finished my food. 2. I always think they keep the main dining room a little too dark (but I typically go with friends and am not looking for a "romantic dimly lit room" to eat in). Sunshine!!! I like SUNSHINE!!!!! As far as the food is concerned, it is always superb! My appetizer, fried tofu was cooked perfectly and the sweet peanut sauce tasty. My dinner (Pumpkin Curry with Tofu) while it wasn't nearly has spicy as I had asked for, I asked for a '8' Thai Spicy and received about a '4'. However, the balance between the coconut milk and curry spices was delicious, the tofu cooked perfectly, and the pieces of pumpkin one of the tastiest cooked vegetables I have ever had. I want to learn to cook this curry!

Splendid! Absolutely splendid! It was like hiking up the hills in Thailand! Atmosphere was great and food came out amazing. Pud Thai was my favorite even tho I ordered the noodle platter, I picked off my girlfriends plate and wish I ordered the Pud Thai instead. They had golden basket as one of their appetizers and it was magnificent; full of flavor and just falls apart in your mouth.

I absolutely love Thai Food and I have yet to find Thai Food in the Reno area that is as good as this restaurant. I personally love their Pud Thai options but they also have really excellent Curry. Sometimes the tofu is cooked to an odd consistency but when it comes to flavor, I certainly cannot complain. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant has a great ambiance. Make sure to check in on Yelp when you visit to receive 15% off!

My boyfriend & I have been to this spot 2x. Once we ate in & the second time, we took it to go. The inside is nicely decorated & the staff is really nice. We have gotten the Pad Thai, Panang Curry, and the Coconut Soup - we LOVE all of them. Only reason I gave the 4 stars, not 5 is because most recently we called ahead to order our food ahead of time, to eat at the restaurant (it was late, we were tired & hungry) the hostess was sweet & told us she'd put us on the phone with a server... then we could hear the manager (or owner?) in the background told her they don't do that. She apologized and we just took our food to go. When we arrived, there was not one person eating inside the restaurant so we thought was was a bit strange/rude. Oh well - food is great! We'll be back

  • Sarah S.

(Ordered a pickup so this is purely on food) We ordered quite a few different items from the menu- pad Thai, chicken yellow curry, cashew chicken "salad" (says salad on the yelp menu, the lady on the phone says there's only cashew chicken noodle) basil chicken noodle, etc... From the six people that ate their meal, everyone was pretty ...not impressed. It was decent for sure, but I was surprised at the turnout after all of the 4+ star reviews. They do give you 15% off for checking in on yelp though. So that's cool.

We arrived at the restaurant at 9:15. They close at 10 PM. Four parties entered after us. We were asked what we wanted to drink, and if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer. He also asked if we were ready to order. Our appetizer came and we had just started eating it. Less than a minute later, he delivered our food. Less then three minutes later, he came to our table and asked us if he could box it up or if we were still eating. He came back again and asked us if we wanted dessert because the kitchen was closing. We said no. We were still eating our appetizer. He came back again and asked us if we wanted a box again! He did not refill our water. He came back five minutes later and literally checked to see if we had put a card down for our check. I looked around and realized that we were our servers last table. While I feel bad for him, I think that's really inappropriate. We paid with card and left. There were still four other tables. My pumpkin curry was great, my friends red curry was ok.

This was a fine choice for some friends and I to visit on Friday night. We went in at 7PM and were promptly led to a table soon after arriving. The location is convenient for us, since we could walk there - I'm guessing this is nice for a lot of people around the old south Reno area. The dining area has a brighter décor and more closed in space than the South Reno location. The last time I went I ordered spicy and my mouth caught on fire, so I kept it cool this time around and went with a Bangkok Sizzling Platter with beef. The yellow curry didn't really come out over the peanut sauce, but I didn't miss it - it was savory and delicious all the same. The only warning I can give is not to order if you're allergic to peanuts! I topped it off with a Thai coffee - sweet, creamy, and delicious. Enjoy!

Thai food. I do love you. Forever. And Bangkok you are stellar. I did not grow up eating Thai food and from the day this delicacy first was introduced to me I was hooked. To people who don't know Thai food (bear with me folks-this is a real situation for some) I describe it as similar to Chinese food with amazingly spicy and sweet flavors instead of salt. So yummy. The spicy basil noodles here are bomb. Cashew chicken, yum. Curry, amazing. I really have loved every dish I've tried here, and there are a lot. So food-obviously gets 5 stars from this girl. Why the 4 star review then you ask? Well this place is tiny. And it has a slightly odd smell about it before you get your food and all you can smell is the deliciousness. I prefer take out here. The bathroom is sketchy. Also the prices are higher than other places around town, and I sure do like low prices! All in all amazing food, go there.

One of my favorite Thai restaurant in Reno. The place is very quiet, smaller than the other one but the taste of their food are excellent. The service is always good, very friendly. Tried my favorite soup Tom Kha Gai / coconut soup with rice and thai chillies with vinegar, hmm so yummy. padthai was good too, red curry with pumpkin and tofu was excellent, not too sweet. The Spicy basil noodle with pork was yummy too Will definitely come back here because i love Thai food especially because of their yummy food & good price.

This is still a pretty good place. I haven't been in a while since I usually go to Sawseedee because it's closer to where I live now and I love their food. My family got shrimp pad Thai, chicken silver thread noodle (Pad Wun Sen), spicy basil noodle (drunken noodle aka Pad Kee Mao ) and veggie Tom Yum to-go to eat at Ceol. The pad Thai was good and spicy at a 2, but not so overwhelming you couldn't enjoy the dish. The silver noodle or bean thread was as good as anywhere else, even topped with fresh cilantro. The vegetable tom yum was okay, it hit the spot but seems a bit... watery. I remembered I had gotten it in the past and it seemed watered down then. The biggest disappointment was the spicy basil noodle. I knew it wasn't my favorite version from here I could slightly remember (I just read my old review I should have done that first haha) but I specifically asked the girl if there were things like corn and mushrooms and veggies in it because I requested no bell peppers, she said yes. Well she was wrong. I opened up the ugliest looking dish. It is just noodles and chicken and onions. No cabbage no carrots no broccoli no corn no straw mushrooms. I noticed they have "winter" hours where they are closed Monday and Wednesday earlier than before. The girl working for them also though tom yum was the coconut soup, but she did clarify. I think they need to retrain her on the food though so she can accurately answer questions about the dishes. Especially ethic cuisine that some people have never had. If I lived in the area I would still give Bangkok my business regularly, but there are other options like Lanna Thai now besides Thai Chile that I would probably consistently rotate through. It would depend on what mood I'm in I suppose when I ordered. Since I didn't use their menu and my Mom paid I don't know he prices of the dishes here.

My favorite place in Reno for great Tai food. I love the curry puffs, they are so great, open them up, put some cucumber salad inside, then add some chile paste...the lunch menu is great and the prices are very reasonable too. Service is quick, you can get in, order, and eat in about an hour.

  • Road H.

We went twice in a week... Tried the Thai dumplings which were steamed and delicate with a nice sauce. I tried the panang curry with mixed vegetables instead of meat or tofu (vegetarian) and it was wonderful. They are serious with their heat scale... I ordered mild to start but a few nights later i tried a noodle dish with fried tofu... Tasty but i ordered it level 2 and it was hotter than i would have liked... But that is my fault the dish was delicious. My tip is to go mild and ask for spice condiments and the side. We will return. Service was very good, food came quickly and the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.

Pad Thai is really good. Thom Yum Gong soup is a little too sour and I don't like the onions in it! The fried banana with vanilla ice-cream is to die for! Definitely will try this place again. Just don't order Thom Yum Gong soup.

4.5/5! The red curry was so on point!!!! Had the Pud Se Ew for the first time and it was so good! Better than chow fun... Combination fried rice and pad Thai was good too. Papaya salad tasted like a mango salad with lemon so it was eh... I love the black and red interior. Don't forget to use your 15% off!

I've come here a few times and the food has always been consistent for me. It is always delicious. I've had a few things off of their menu and have not been disappointment. It is a great place for Thai food. The atmosphere seems a little crowded to me especially during busier times but otherwise it is a cozy little building. Sometimes when I would go in there I do feel a little rushed to eat and pay. I don't know if the same is still the case as I haven't been in, in some time. I need to go back again since it has definitely been too long for me. Service gets about 3.5/5 stars for me. Like I said it has been some time since I have been there so I'm sure things will have changed by now but it used to be inconsistent. Sometimes we would go in there and service would be amazing and attentive but other times we would go in and would either feel rushed or a bother. Regardless of the inconsistent service, we have always enjoyed the food at Bangkok Cuisine and will go for that. We'll try to go again in the near future and update my review based on a more recent experience. This is one of two Thai places that I recommend to friends looking for good Thai in the Reno area and will keep recommending it.

Nice decor and ambiance but very slow service. Check in here and get the 15% off your overall meal. The calamari here was too chewy for my taste but the noodles were good enough. We also tried the curry with rice and the shrimp hot & sour soup, which were OK. The food really wasn't memorable.

This was the best meal I enjoyed in Reno so far, our waitress Roni, truly amazing. We had some special requests which she was more than happy to expedite. Our water was filled continously by the bus boy, We ordered the papaya, my all time favorite. It was fresh, I want to go back for more. The main course was the sizzling platter, chicken with peanut sauce, over a bed of spinach the cucumbers were a nice touch. My friend ordered the grilled salmon, she enjoyed it, Our desert was truly amazing sticky rice with mango, I just loved it. Will definitely return here before I leave reno, plus the check in offer is so worth it.

Came here while skiing near reno over winter break. I don't exactly remember what we ordered, I believe there was basil chicken, noodles, and something with shrimp haha.. but the food was yummy. (Actually jk it was a bit salty and too much spice for me, but I am a very light eater.. so. maybe it's just right for you) The servers were polite and checked in every so often. The environment was also pretty nice.

I love the food here. It is always perfect and delicious! The service is always amazing and even quick. I have gone here on lunch before, and the meal never takes long to get to my table. Parking is a little tough, but it is Midtown and you kind of have to expect that.

This place use to have amazing food!! But sadly the quality has really gonna down & the service especially.. :( I used to come here quite often and I recently went here just last night & was very dissatisfied with the portion sizes & I ordered the Pud Thai & shrimp Rangoon & they did not put any peanuts on it and I also asked for tofu instead of chicken and they charged me $2 extra for tofu and $1 for peanuts without mentioning these were extra charges.. And I know $3 bucks isn't that much but it's the point of it for me & also they have never charged me extra for subbing a meat for tofu before or peanuts. So I will probably never be back because of this and I recommend if you do check this place out make sure you don't get a bunch of silly up charges that they never used to do! Good luck fellow Thai food lovers! Hope this helps!!! :D

My boyfriend and I love Thai food and, after eating at Thai Lotus, wanted to give this place a try and see if it was better. We ordered the fresh rolls as an appetizer and, while they were fresh and yummy, they weren't anything special. I ordered the Mixed Vegetable Red Curry and my boy ordered the Red Curry. I liked his but did not particularly like mine. It might have just been my choice in dish, who knows. However, I liked the curry from Thai Lotus better. The service here was alright, not anything special. I would definitely give this place another try in the future, but Thai Lotus just blew me away a little more with the friendly service and awesome attention we received.

I have always appreciated the food at Bangkok. It's consistent and as good as it gets for Reno Thai. The service is attentive but it can vary by waiter. The bus staff is very good. This location gets a ton of foot traffic and for the longest time they had this dingy carpet which made me question how seriously they believed in cleanliness. They've since addressed that with new carpet and I'm thankful for that. As to the food I think they offer balanced and hearty soups. The Tom Yum has always satisfied and the portions are generous. Their curries are solid but I sometimes wonder if the Chefs are afraid to make a 3 or 4 star curry spicy. Too often I ask for the pepper tray but I suppose they are shell shocked after years of serving unhappy patrons who cannot stomach Thai spice. Not a huge issue but annoying. I really want to give them 5 stars but I'm reluctant given some of my past struggles with abrupt and inconsistent service. Bonus points for being a family run business. Bottomline, this is a place locals and out of towners frequent for good reason.

I've grown to love Thai food over the past few years, and Bangkok Cuisine is the go-to spot for us. We most often go to the Express location off Mae Anne (which seems to be different owners, but very similar menu), but recently I was in Midtown headed to a friend's concert at Midtown Wine bar and I stopped to grab some appetizers to go. Service is usually decent and quick, but its not terribly personal. Small gripe: I had tried calling my order in three times over the space of 20 minutes with no answer. I mentioned this to the cashier when I walked in. She didn't seem to care. Regardless of that snafu, I was able to get my order within 10 minutes and head over to the wine bar. I'd recommend the spring rolls and dumplings for appetizers, and the pumpkin red curry and black pepper garlic beef for mains. They have pretty much every other standard Thai restaurant option, and I don't think I've ever had a bad dish. The best experience is when you sit down and have a family style meal. I'd say most of their dishes are less spicy than other Thai I've had in town, but that doesn't mean they lack flavor. If you're looking for a good basic curry I'd say this is your place.

Delicious. I've had Thai food in Tahoe and even Los Angeles, but this place rises above the rest. Spicy basil noodles and the Thai iced teas basically run through my veins at this point. The Thai iced teas, by the way, are a must. If you haven't tried them then you haven't lived!

3 times I've been in this place and it hasn't dissapointed. pad thai is amazing. Red curry dishes are really good. Basil rice noodles are good as well. Staff is very attentive. Really no flaws. I truly recommend.

Enjoyed the Thai salad. Fresh ingredients and flavorful. Nice ambience. Greatly service. Some of the sauces are a little on the sweet side but overall hit the spot!

My boyfriend and I usually get spicy cashew chicken to go, and we've never had any problems. The order is always correct, and it's ready when we arrive to pick it up! The girls that answer the phone are kind and provide excellent customer service! We love to eat at Bangkok.

Good food and efficient service. Nice place for large groups for lunch or dinner. The curries are all well cooked and the starter varieties are also good.

Great food. The crispy duck curry is awesome. The pad Thai with shrimp is excellent too. The thing that upset me was paying for rice. Charging for rice? Who does that? It's included everywhere else you cheap fucks. That's just shitty. The food is great, but the bull shit rice charge keeps me away.

First, while this is the original and the best of the three locations they have in Reno, I should note that the other two locations that they have are excellent as well . I travel extensively, and Thai cuisine is my number one go-to that I like to try in different places. Of all the places that I travel, this is at the very top of the list - quite a remarkable find in Reno. The pumpkin red curry is truly exceptional, but Pad Thai, spicy basil chicken noodles, Tom Ka Guy, the sizzling platter, chicken satay, fresh rolls - there really is no wrong answer on the menu. A good value overall, and absolutely exceptional food. If you like Thai food, and find yourself in Reno, you really owe it to yourself to try one of their locations

My husband and I had dinner here tonight. I was craving Pad See Eww (soy sauce noodle) and this place hit the spot. This dish can easily be over or undercooked and I was pleased that they had perfected my dish. I'm very particular about my spice level (I prefer moderate) and ordering "three star" on a 1-10 scale was perfect. We also shared a large Sake which was served at the perfect temperature. The only disappointment is they only have one type/brand to choose from and their South Reno location has quite the flavorful assortment. My meal was perfect and was cooked quickly despite a full restaurant. My server was excellent and the sake was warm the whole time! Of all three of their locations, this one cooks the best food.

Can here for lunch because of Yelp. For checking in, I received 15% off my entire purchase. I ordered the lunch pad Thai and a Thai iced tea. Very yummy! Even though I ordered a lunch portion of the pad Thai, it was still a lot of food it also came with a soup and an egg roll.

Always good reliable thai food. I like the authentic atmosphere at the older bangkok and I think this is the cheapest thai in reno. I usually order a papaya salad (a must try!), soup, and a couple of entrees and the bill is around $35. Good food with lots of leftovers!

Literally one of the best places ever! We come here at least twice a week for lunch or dinner. Their mixed vegetable curry is sooooo good with fresh veggies and lots of flavor. The pad thai is huge and is the best in town. Their soy sauce noodle with chicken is another favorite. For lunch I always order their fresh roll, it is so big I could eat it as a meal alone and really is super fresh. My favorite dessert is their mango sticky rice, amazing! Their restaurant is nice, and I've never had to wait for more than 15 minutes to pick up takeout from the time I order no matter what time of day. They have a parking lot and lots of street parking and eating here doesn't break the bank either. Hands down one of the best places in town!

Had lunch here the other day and not thrilled. The food is okay but not good enough to make me come back. Veggie spring rolls were the best thing we had but that's hard to mess-up. The veggie coconut soup was very sweet and had too much lime juice in it. The shrimp with abalone mushroom was just okay. The mushrooms seemed really water-logged, I was expecting this dish to be nicely sautéed with some nice color on the mushrooms. But no, like I said the mushrooms were water-logged and just bland.

Tried the Veggie Pad Thai and Shrimp Rangoons. Both delicious! I also love that they close at 10PM on weekdays! Will be back to try the Duck Curry next! Definitely my new go-to spot for Thai food!

Everything was outstanding. The server was very understanding and polite. The food was great. Be ware of "Thai hot" when choosing your spiciness level. I got my fried rice Thai hot and I'm pretty sure it's the spiciest thing I've ever eaten. Awesome, but burny. I don't live nearby, but if I did, I'd return!

Our family craves the sweet savory flavors of Thai. So much so we gave this place a try a year after being food poisoned at Thai Lotus. I ordered the Spicy Basil Noodle, my two daughters ordered the Mixed Vegetable Pud Thai and my wife ordered a Thai Salad. We started with an order of Mixed Vegetable Spring rolls and Thom Yum Goong. The spring rolls were...Meh...they lacked any real flavor and seemed not to have been made fresh. The Thom Yum Goong tasted like dirty tap water. The shrimp was off and the soup lacked any hint of savory anything...a real disappointment. My Spicy Basil Noodles were marginal...the noodles were a very weird texture and I couldn't finish the mess. The sauce was ok, but the noodles must have been cooked in the same dirty tap water....that was the taste...not fresh. The Mixed Vegetable Pud Thai was great....it looked fresh and it tasted very good. I had a good helping of my daughters plates. I guess things are made fresher when they are ordered more often....but who knew. The salad...I don't know where to start. Iceberg lettuce, and tomatoes (cut is massive 1/4 chunks) and cold tofu with a strange peanut sauce (cold) for the salad dressing. It looked awful and was uneatable. My wife asked for them to remove the peanut sauce dressing...so the waitress took it away and returned a identical salad with NO dressing. Not a hint of lime or balsamic or anything. This was the WORST.SALAD.EVER. Worst than McDonalds....no onions, no carrot silvers, no lime juice, no cucumbers, no scallions, no fresh ginger, NOTHING. for $9. We were shocked...we sent it back....and asked for it to be replaced with the Veggie Spring rolls with tofu...she said no...NO...no to the tofu...must have not come in the package... We are not food snobs. We just want fresh food, prepared by a chef that is an expert. We are still looking for a good Thai place if you know of one. But probably it will be next year before we attempt it again. Reno and Thai food are not a great mix. Gregg Yum Goong OUT.

It was very tasty. I got the curry pops and the yellow curry...can you tell I like curry?? I really like how you can pick your own spice level (1-5), and kind of personalize your food to your liking.

Nice Ambiance & A young pretty blonde host dressed in a Thai outfit. We ordered the Pud THai which was my mom's favorite overall. I was in love with the Spicy Basil Noodles. My dad had Pad Se ew I think... everything we ordered in the noodle section was good. We were going to order some to go before heading back to SF but didn't get a chance. So all the yelp reviews were true. I'd definitely come back again when I stop by Reno again. :) My only concern is the wait we had.. was about 25 minutes even tho there were lots of people leaving many people were not seated and had to wait. (I talked to a regular customer during this time... she said it's normally a 5 min wait -she seemed frustrated) - so give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just short staff that day? We also luckily stumbled upon the 15% discount when checking in the area on yelp. Actually I found this place because of yelp too. I'm glad we went. Thanks Yelp!

August 22, 2012 Wednesday - dinner 6:30 PM 3 adults Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Been years since I have been here. My wife cooked so Thai food, it was good but different. So I had to take her here since she has never been here before. Atmosphere - Older build with character. The seating area is broken into three areas. So I will ding them for putting us next to the kitchen. It was a square table with a person on each end; they had it set for three people. The table started with four chairs and my wife sat at the spot not set and got and moved to the other open spot. Throughout the night the chair came and went by the hands of the staff. Food Appetizer - Fried wantons. Golden in color, you get 10 for $5, a great deal. Main Course - I had the special, it was pumpkin curry. The color was a vibrant as Halloween. Sorry my cell phone could not pick up that color in the restaurant. The bowl was severed with chunks of pumpkin in the bowl, sitting next to the chicken and some bell peppers. I loved that meal! Dessert - stuffed! Service - We had a friendly waiter and attentive. Our waters were never empty! I drink a lot of water. Future - Of course.

OH.MY.GOD. The Pad Thai is SO GOOD I'm drooling just thinking about it. How can Pad Thai be that good you ask? The texture, the seasoning, the perfect amount of meat to egg to sauce to noodle ratio? Spring rolls and green curry were good but generic. Everyone here was ordering the sizzling meat, will definitely have to try that next time!

I called in an order of pad see eew with pork, and when I got there, my order was already done! Amazing. The cashier was super friendly and nice! The restaurant was definitely a little more dingy than I expected, and a waitress was straight chilling with a bag of McDonald's in the back. Hmm. My noodles were delicious and pretty on par with Thai Chili. Yum!

Pretty decent Thai food for a reasonable price. This is a good place to go if you don't feel like waiting in line and paying $20+ for the plethora of Reno buffets. The restaurant is clean and the service is efficient and friendly. We started with the Fried calamari appetizer. I would pass on this because it's only fried calamari rings w/ "banana ketchup" dipping sauce and some cucumber slices. Nothing special there. For our entrees, we ordered off the specials menu: We got the Eggplant sautee with chicken and the Seafood pot (shrimp, calamari, mussels, tilapia, crab, and pineapples cooked in a coconut milk soup). Both our dishes were pretty good. We thought that the seafood pot was a curry dish, but it's not. It's actually more like a soup. Our bill came out to be around $35 for two people. We were stuffed. The food was good but nothing blew me away. I would come back to give this place another try and maybe order curry and noodle dishes instead.

I really felt that everything was mediocre at best. The place was poorly lit for lunch hour. My co worker and I did the special. Really good price for the amount of food your getting. Waters were always full. The servers kind of seemed like they didn't know their section or what table they were assigned. I liked the noodles. In conclusion, the food was good enough to try again.

Bangkok is my favorite restaurant in the city. The prices are incredible for the quality of food, service, and the restaurant itself. It has warm, dim lighting that really makes it feel like a classy place. I honestly think they could get away with charging $20 a plate here. I'd probably still pay it, honestly. I hope their managers aren't reading this. I WAS JUST KIDDING, YOU GUYS. Please don't raise your prices. But seriously, it's great food. The Pad Thai is my go-to dish. Chicken, shrimp, noodles, and tons of flavor. The orange and green curry are also delicious. The Sizzling Platter is awesome, especially if you get it in-restaurant rather than take out; it really does come out sizzling! Sssssssssss. That's what flavor sounds like. My only complaint is that the spiciness scale is not particularly consistent. If you ask for "hot" sometimes you get "irreversible thermonuclear face damage" and sometimes you get "Cholula". Maybe it's my metabolism. Go to Bangkok Cuisine today. Heck, go right now. Mind getting me an order of Pad Thai?

In Reno for the day and looking to get something that is ethnic. The family digs Thai looks like a good option, but thinking good Thai in Reno? This place is amazing. You would never think the place is much from the outside but the inside is refined. We ordered Papaya Salad, second best ever. The best is still a little lady in Weed, CA making food at a Thai BBQ place. Seafood soup, something that was on the specials page. This was the best thing. The seafood was perfectly cooked. The scallops were delish. Basil Thai Fried Rice. Excellent Pad Se Ew, my ruler for Thai. Good flavor. Garlic Chicken green beans. Not a fan of the sweetness of the sauce, but my wife liked it. Next time I am in Reno and craving something other than classic america fare, I will come back. Tip: They have a yelp check in for 15% off.

place is 3.5 stars sanitary, unlike pho 777 but i think portions, same w/rengstorff pho, are too small. this one is that the protions are too small for the price. my bill went up over the roof at 100 USD for what seemed to be only a 40 dollar meal, especially for the folks around the bay area. I think my feelings are more a-ok than yay! I'm a fan, as yelp says.

Wow. This place is really good, I ordered take out. Fresh basil noodles which is the same as pad kee mao with beef, soo flavorful. Basil fried rice with chicken, super flavorful as well. The chicken and beef were good. Papaya salad really plain. Didn't like it much, I have padaq which is a super fermented fish sauce that is normally used with Laos style papaya salad and added some smashed fresh Thai chilies and garlic, it tasted much better. I also ordered mango with sweet sticky rice. There was a little too much of the coconut sauce on so I will probably order it on the side next time. Thai tea really good. Sweet and strong. Took 30 minutes to have it ready for pick up but so worth it. The food is really delicious. Fresh tasting. And tastes really authentic, I have been to Thailand before and this is close to it, except for the papaya salad. Total was 42. The fried beef and sticky rice that came with the papaya salad was really good. Really felt like I was eating like a thai person in thailand. RECOMMEND!! SUPER DELICIOUS. Best thai food I have tried in Reno so far.

I only get to Reno about once a year and I made it a point to go here based on my first visit. I don't know what happened over the last year, maybe they changed cooks or owners, but my second visit will be my last. Very mediocre and even the won ton soup was not the same as before.

I really like this place, I come here regularly. I always check in on Yelp and they don't ever get upset when I use the coupon. Had lunch there for the first time, 7.95 for a whole plate of food and I was full! Their coconut ice cream is delicious :) mmmmmm.

Love visiting on Thursday for their lunch special which includes the best Pad Thai! For a small price you get soup, two choices of entrees and rice. I typically get Pad Thai and Yellow Curry. Delicious! Atmosphere is authentic, but a little dated. Service is okay. Parking is a pain in the butt. Don't park in the lot across the street or in old Chapel lot or they will tow. I try to find street parking and walk a bit.

  • Brooke J.

Alas, I wish I could have resisted the steeply pitched Thai roof! While the ambiance is cozy, making it a good spot for a first date, the food fell flat of the decor and service. They're making all of the right motions. There's pooled service, tasteful dinnerware and fresh linen. However, the heart of the kitchen - a strong back of the house - is absent. My waiter also missed asking after why so much of my meal was left on the plate. I mark points off any time I leave more than half my portion - in this case 3/4s - without a query from my server. A table not far from my own had to ask for their satay grill to be relit. It went out a second time, unnoticed to the service. While the appeal is there in having a hand in the preparation of your own meal, if the execution misses the mark, one might as well remove the gimmick. It left me glad to have skipped the appetizer. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with tea. To me, this is the equivalent of ordering pulled pork at a barbecue place. If you screw it up, cook some other genre. I was lucky enough to live in Hawai'i a short time. This makes my palate a canned pineapple seeking missile. If it's out of season and you have to fall back on a tin, at least be generous. I had to hunt about in my rice to find the poor pieces. They were syrupy when I did manage to fish one out with my chopsticks. When I go out for Thai, I want there to be a spice party on the tip of my tongue. It doesn't have to be hot, but I do want a mental challenge as I try and sort out all of the different elements of a given dish. I want fresh vegetables playing a central role. I don't care what I end up with as long as it is bright. I was upset by my thought that if I had been blindfolded eating my rice, I might well have mistaken it for Chinese. The standout on my very generous plate was the cucumber. That was fresh and turned and had just the right amount of vinegar. The tea was also a nice compliment to the meal. It was a bit off in value for cost.

It dawned on me that I always cite Bangkok Cuisine as one of the better Thai restaurants in Reno but I've eaten here only once since I've been Yelping. So I remedied that with a late lunch. I got the beef basil lunch special for $8. I used to eat here in the mid 1990s when the lunch specials were $2.97. The meal was still good. The basil was distinctive and the meat was tender. One complaint was that it was maybe a little too oily, but I still liked the meal. I also liked the soup and curry popper that came with the meal.

I ordered the shrimp hot and sour soup and basil fried rice for take out. I always order the Tom Yum Seafood Soup which comes with all the seafood. This is the closest soup Bangkok Cuisine has to offer, but their version has tomatoes, mushrooms and shrimp. It was sour to my liking, but lacked in ingredients. I ordered a large and it was 80% broth. Disappointing. The basil fried rice lacked flavor. It needed garlic, salt, pepper, spices . . . something, anything! I was so hungry and forced myself to eat it. I wish they would have packed some soy sauce or chili paste - make sure you ask for it when you order take out. Overall, I would not recommend and I will not return.

I have never had a bad meal here, and some of the fare is easily among the best Thai food in Reno. The service is fairly attentive & friendly, and the prices are about what I expect for this kind of restaurant. On my most recent visit there were only two service issues: the sterno in our satay warmers kept going out, and it took several re-lights before the waiter finally accepted the need for a replacement. (It would have made more sense if he'd just done that after the 2nd time the burner went out). The waiter also seemed to have a problem understanding our request for two separate checks. He agreed, then proceeded to tally everything on a single check (with two balances). This was awkward; the (obvious) reason for requesting a separate check is to pay for the meal with two separate accounts. Since he couldn't seem to spare another piece of paper, I tore the check in half and presented my portion to the cashier on our way out the door (another minor irritant, in that we were presented the check in the customary mini-portfolio but he never came back to collect it). At any rate, the meal was excellent. My wife's chicken/vegetable curry was done quite well, although very mild. A few crushed chili peppers took care of the mildness just fine. :) My noodle combination plate was very tasty, although the noodles weren't what I expected. Since the dish is listed in the same section as Pud Thai, I was expecting that sort of noodle. Instead it included some large, flat, flaccid things that just kind of flopped around the shrimp, squid, chicken, beef, pork and broccoli. The sauce was pretty damn tasty (especially after I hit it with some chili sauce); if they'd serve that stuff on top of pud thai noodles, it would instantly be my favorite thing. One of our friends had some kind of soup (which he loved), and the other two ladies had some kind of salad which seemed to be making them happy. The small salad my wife ordered with her meal was perfectly fine (dressed in a peanut/tamarind sauce), and the pork & chicken satay were pretty damn satisfying. Peanut sauces are pretty easy to make, but also easy to screw up. Their versions of this Southeast Asian staple are top-notch. This should be a five star review, but I'm subtracting one star for the service missteps. Perhaps another visit will bump 'em up a notch? I'm curious to try their version of "Spicy Crispy Duck"!

Nicer ambiance than a lot of Thai restaurants. We had the duck, Pad si ew, pumkin curry, and something called Basil. We all loved our meals. They are running a coupon on their website. They let us use it even though we ordered specials. Very accommodating with substitutions. All in all a very good experience.

Warning: No flavor found at this restaurant! With a craving for some good Thai food, our family took our out of town guests to Bangkok Cuisine on Mt. Rose street for lunch. When we pushed through the nondescript entrance we were greeted with a wonderful blast of traditional Thai smells and that led us to our table. Unfortunately, the smells did not mingle with any of the food. We enjoyed our company and were forced to overlook the terrible food. We saw some of our favorites such as coconut shrimp, Pud Thai and yellow curry veggies but all three of these dishes lack any distinguishing flavors. The coconut shrimp was crispy, but sparse with only 4 shrimps set on a large bed of fried coconut filler to make the serving look much bigger. The mango sauce was a gelatinous, sugary and again bland. There was too much sauce and not enough veggies. The overcooked fried rice had no flavor. The lunch portions were barely enough and I felt like ordering a side of rice to complete the lunch. The service was polite and brought our meals all at the same time and we were without complaint regarding the service. The stars are for the service. I am writing this review because we were misdirected by their positive Yelp rating.

I love their papaya salad. The ingredients are fresh. The presentation was strange with a big wedge of iceberg lettuce, but it was fresh so not complaining. In addition to the lettuce, it comes with sticky rice and crispy beef. I have been back a few times with consistent quality. The service, sadly, was consistently marginal.

This was such a different experience. Right when we had walked in we were welcomed by Brittany at the front. She seated us and made us feel welcomed right away! I Don't usually like Thai food, but coming here with a few friends changed my mind. I had gotten the Pad Thai.. This was recommended by our server... Best dish ever. It's trying new things that I'm afraid of. So glad this dish was recommend. I will be back. The staff was great and so was the food. Thai tea is definitely recommended as well. Thank you Bangkok for changing my taste buds. Thank you staff for being so friendly and helpful. I will recommend to family, friends, and co workers!

We wanted Thai and a "check in 15% discount" made the decision in this situation. Glad we did. I just LOVE the green papaya salad. The wife ordered the Salmon Panang curry. Just a note warning. While being awesome and wonderful, it was also not as "soupy" as a regular panang curry. It was almost just a glaze for the salmon. Again it was EXCELLENT, no negatives. Just a caution to someone who may want a saucy curry. Loved the Meegrob. Love this place. It's our "go to" nice place when it comes to Thai. One thing I really love is that, both the south and north Bangkoks actually have spent good money and effort to give me an atmosphere that says..."hey I am dining out in a nice establishment" this seems to be very lacking lately. Maybe it's just that I am a little old school, but some dining just needs to be an event and not a feed trough.

We came here after a long day of snowboarding. Here is what we ordered: 1. Papaya salad - too much fish sauce so it turned out really salty 2. Chicken satay skewers - this was good! Came with this tiny little grill thing so you can heat it up as well. I've never seen that before. Cute idea 3. Special of the Day - pumpkin curry - this was our favorite 4. Fried whole snapper with chili sauce - this was also pretty good 5. Tom yum soup - this didn't taste like yum tum very much but it was still ok 6. Coconut and green tea ice cream - coconut was good; don't order the green tea Overall, for a Thai restaurant in Reno, it was decent. I'd probably make another visit in the future.

Ok, fine, I'll say it: I'm addicted to Bangkok Cuisine. There, happy? No need to call INTERVENTION. I've got it under control. I have a friend who shares my obsession, and we'll randomly send each other texts that say, "BNGK Cuisine. 10 minutes." And then we'll just drop what we're doing and go have a date. We order the same thing every time. He gets the Pad Thai, spiciness level 2, and I get the yellow chicken curry entree, spiciness level 2. We've literally never ordered anything else, but I'm sure it's all fantastic. Oh, and the most delicious thing on the entire menu? THAI FLAT BREAD. Get extra. You won't regret it, I promise. Decoration and atmosphere is a little trite. But who cares? The food is delish and the price is totally reasonable. And I like restaurants that box your food up for you; I'm lazy and full by the end, so it's a nice gesture. I also love that I always have plenty of leftovers.

I went to Bangkok Cuisine last night and had their fresh spring rolls and pad woodsen, I was amazed how similar the taste of noodles to the one in Thailand. Very tasty and authentic. It is about time that we have a home cook style restaurant in Reno

I ordered the Pud Kee Mao (basil stir-fried noodles) which is pretty standard in most Thai Restaurants. There was too much sauce and the noodles were pretty soggy and falling apart towards the end of my meal. The Tom Yum Goong (Chicken hot and sour soup) was delicious except that I ordered it too spicy. Be cautious. I handle a pretty high level of spice, but a 4 at this restaurant was enough to leave my lips burning and almost numb with pain. The panang curry was delicious and almost among the best I have had.

Awesome thai food. Ordered green curry with extra basil and tofu. Everything tasted great. Topped off the meal with mango sticky rice. I'd definitely go back.

MIDDLE OF THE ROAD: Poor to Mediocre service. Average prices. Decent food. Inconvenient parking. Although I have heard about it for many years, this is the first time I have ever visited Bangkok Cuisine. As we approached the front door to be greeted with a sign saying that if we parked in the lot next to the building, we would receive a $100 fine, as the lot belonged to a neighboring business. So, we first had to return to our car and move to a dark unmarked lot located well behind the restaurant. After walking in again, we stood in the lobby for several minutes with no one at the front counter and no one greeting us. Eventually a waiter came and asked how many in our party and then departed looking around at the many empty tables. We were seated in a corner near the kitchen - when there were many better tables available. The busboy came to pour water and managed to spill it all over the table, but didn't even notice until I pointed it out. After a lengthy wait, the waiter came to take our drink order. We were already hungry and growing a bit frustrated by the time, so we ordered drinks and dinner. The food was served in a timely manner and was relatively good.. For me, the test of good Thai food is their Pineapple Fried Rice. There's was enjoyable, but not as good as I have had a number of times at the nearby Thai Chili restaurant, let alone in Shanghai (where they served it in a hollowed-out pineapple shell) or in Thailand. We continued to have a difficult time flagging down our waiter, so when we finally got the check, it was a bit of a relief. The relatively decent food and typical Thai atmosphere were overshadowed by the less-than-adequate service, where we were treated more as a "visiting relative being given a free meal". Regardless of the "Best of Reno" (paid awards) lining the wall behind their front counter, we found nothing to compel us to choose to return to this restaurant over others in the same neighborhood.

Never had a bad experience here. The chicken yellow curry is one of the best dishes I have had anywhere. Everything else I have had here is pretty good also. Get some thai milk tea too. I dont know if its "authentic thai food" or whatever. But it is damn good.

Do not park on either side of the building if you do not want to be towed. Park at the BACK of the building. We went on Super Bowl Sunday and were seated promptly. After perusing the menu, we settled on the hot and sour seafood combo ($12), beef with black pepper and garlic ($9), and plain rice ($2). I am not a fan of hot and sour nor of seafood, but the soup was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Too bad they did not have mango sticky rice available that evening :( Service was fast and friendly. We were able to avail of their yelp check-in discount offer so our dinner only came down to ($22.90 excluding tip). This place is totally worth a visit.

This place is the bomb! All their dishes are mouth-wateringly good! I'm salivating right now just at the thought of their Zim's Mango Salad. Also, the waitress remembered me and my name on just my 2nd visit to this place and each time I visit, she goes out of her way to greet me in my own language! I love it! It doesn't get any better than that! I think this is the BEST Thai restaurant this side of the Bay!

Bangkok Cuisine Thai Restaurant has two locations, this one on Mt Rose in Reno, and another called Bangkok Cuisine South. There is also a Bangkok Cuisine Express, but not sure if it's the same ownership. The restaurant looks small from the outside, with its warnings of what lot to park at as you walk in (pick the more obvious one next door and you may get towed, so park in the lot in the rear, not on the side!), but inside it is a bit larger, with a cozy atmosphere and quaint village-like decor and the obligatory picture of the Thai King and Queen near the kitchen. They are offering a 15% discount for Yelpers, so check in here and reveal the coupon on your iPhone and show your waitress, and they will take 15% off your bill (excluding alcohol)!. The food is pretty good, and they offer a large and typical selection of Thai favorites at reasonable prices. They have perhaps a dozen Apps, ranging from $4 - $7, and if you can't make up your mind, you can get the sampler tray for $14: 2 Curry Pops, 1 Spring Roll, 2 Thai Sticks (not the weed, the Satay!), 2 Shrimp Tempura, 2 Shrimp Rangoons and mixed veggie Tempura. They have 10 salads including Papaya, Seafood Combo, Nam Sod, Duck Laub (in the $7 - $11 range). There are 8 different soups, a handful of noodle dishes (Pad Thai $9 or $10), Fried Rice dishes (4 to choose), and over 25 entrees, Curries, and House Specials (all $9 - $15 depending on meat selection). They also have traditional desserts of deep fried bananas or sweet rice and mango ($5 or $6). The food was very tasty, perhaps a bit too salty but with good flavors, and the service was good. We had a little personal drama due to a mix-up of coke vs diet coke for a diabetic in our foursome, but other than that, it was a good place for Thai. Check out their website, it is informative and professional, with peaceful music.

We got here at 10 till 10pm and they still sat us. Order just had to be in before 10pm. Absolutely delicious! When we left, we forgot our leftovers and the waiter ran it out to us. Super friendly staff! Great service!

Amazing Thai food! I absolutely love trying new Thai restaurants to taste the difference in the way each restaurant flavor and cook their dishes. I visited Reno with a group of friends and found this restaurant on yelp. I can't recall all of the dishes we ordered, but we were not disappointed with any of them. The Pad Thai is amazing! By far, one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever visited. Definitely recommend this place if you're in a dilemma of where to eat at.

Very charming and elegant inside! We were dressed casual and warmly welcomed. If you check-in here you get an instant 15% off coupon that the waiter will honor. Yea! We had the Tom Kha soup, it was the best I have ever had. The perfect balance of coconut, lime and lemongrass with crunchy veggies. The papaya salad was fresh and fantastic. The red curry was creamy and traditional. Treat yourself to the Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert, it is delish and the Mango was perfectly ripe and sweet. It's our new favorite place in Reno!

I wanted to still like this restaurant, because it carries some pleasant memories for me! How ever when I went there for lunch recently , I found myself disappointed and unsatisfied. I had the fried calimari and the snow peas with pork cooked at only level two heat. One of the reasons that I ordered this was that I remembered liking it .The calimari was average with the high point being the sweet-hot dipping sauce that came with it! The snow peas and pork were - - - - peas were stringy and the pork had very little flavor .It came with rice,I got the fried rice . It left a strange after taste in my mouth! They got the spicy heat right . Sorry guys but for now I will stick with some of the other Thai Restaurants! And for calimari I think that I will stick with Flowing Tide !!!

I have been coming to Bangkok for 10 years. The food has been good most of the time. My issue are the prices. I understand that food costs keep rising, but I just paid $15 for veggie panang curry with rice. I had to ask my server 3 times to make sure I was being charged the right amount. It seemed very high given it was lunch and the portion was small. I was charged $3 for rice. Who serves curry without rice? And to charge for it? Most other Thai restaurants in Reno offer lunch specials. This was not special. :(

I don't really even know what to say that people don't already know about this place. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the food is probably the best Thai I've had in Reno. I myself am partial to Green Curry with sticky rice, which is to die for here, and Pad Thai, which is also deliciously prepared. Additionally, while the menu has all the Thai Lover's staples, there are also some fun appetizers and entrees that encourage some straying from the norm. All and all, delicious-- I just wish I hadn't lived here almost 8 years before trying it out!

Despite some of the good reviews I thnk this place is ok. I just flew in from Vegas to visit my sister and I wanted some Thai food to eat. She recommended this place. I ordered the beef pad see eew and the papaya salad. The pad see eew- noodles tasted old, vegetables were too wilted and overall too sweet. Papaya salad- it was okay, it came with pieces of beef on the side. The taste and tuffness reminded meow Jack Daniels beef sticks.... Would i come back here? No.....

When I go out to eat at a restaurant there are two things that strongly catch my attention. The food and the service. Why else go out, right? Let's start with the food. The food is the reason this restaurant is even getting its second star. I am 100% Thai and I can say that I enjoy authentic and Americanized Thai food. I ordered Panang curry and shrimp Pad Thai. The curry was really mild as far as spice went, and it really disappointed me that the waitress didn't even ask how spicy I wanted it. To rate my second dish, well... Pad Thai is something hard to rate for the fact that every restaurant has a very unique way of making it. However, I'd have to say the Pad Thai here was excellent it really reflected Thai culture in the layering of the flavor. They nailed sweet, sour, savory, and nutty. Now for the reason this restaurant is getting such a crappy review from me. The second I sat down, the waitress had a grim look on her face that seemed like "hurry up and order so I can get on with my life." Never used the 3 golden words a waitress should say "Please" "Thank you" and "You're Welcome." To really put the cherry on top, I overheard an employee speaking in Thai "These people have no manners at all! They're taking pictures in a restaurant" referring to my party of course. First of all, the reason I was using a camera in the restaurant was a school project for my English class where I was reviewing a restaurant. Second of all, how is taking pictures in a restaurant rude? That's free promotion right there. After finishing my meal, I showed my English class why dining out is worse than making your own food. youtube.com/watch?v=fROZ… 1:24-4:10 reflects my review on this restaurant if you're curious.

My hands down favorite Thai restaurant in town, only topped by it's 3rd location, Bangkok Cuisine South, because of its new decor. My husband and go here for our Valentine's Day dinner every year. The service is friendly, prompt and attentive. The dishes we're 'stuck' on are the pad thai & the Bangkok Sizzling Platter. The pad thai is filled with chicken, shrimp and bean sprouts, just the way I love it! The Bangkok Sizzling platter has a delicious coconut sauce that we have scoop every last drop of!

I've been twice now. The other night I went and had the pepper and garlic beef. It was phenomenal! I tend to not be an overt fan of asian cuisine, but it was definitely worth the price! The server and busser were very polite, and the owner was even standing at the exit ready to respond if needed at any moment! I definitely recommend it!

Good food. The "Singha" beer was excellent. Although little less spicy than those I tasted in San Jose , it was good to eat with right proportion of spices ( to the taste buds of our group of two families ) . The fried banana icecream had overripe bananas fried too deeply. This dessert experience made me reduce 1star from 5. Thanks

This is my favorite Thai place in town. We get seated fast, the food is served quickly and is always hot. The atmosphere is nice and quite so it's great for a date like outing. I've also gotten take out and I couldn't believe how fast they are! Would recommend this place to anyone.

I went to this place last week and had dinner. The food was good, probably some of the best Thai Food I have had in Reno. The restaurant from the outside looks ok, but the inside is clean and formal. The service at this place was interesting. My server was a bit too rushed and took a long time to order, receive drinks and food, and get the bill. One side of the restaurant seemed to be getting served a lot quicker. The prices were spendier compared to some other thai restaurants I have been to. The main specialization at this place seems to be duck. The parking lot has tight spots, not up to code and makes it terrible to park and leave. Definitely not excursion and big vehicle friendly. I had to crawl in through the passenger side door just to get into my truck followed by a 10 point turn to get out of the parking lot. I would recommend parking on the end so you will have an easier go at getting into your car.

Came here last night with a couple friends. Overall it was a good experience but we sat right by the kitchen exit and some of the food that came out of the kitchen was on fire or something. There was so much smoke to the point that we were choking and having a hard time breathing. So that kind of sucked. Foodwise, we started with the papaya salad and coconut fried shrimp. I thought the papaya salad was excellent and we make papaya salad at home all the time. It was served with some homemade beef jerky and sticky rice and was simply delish. The coconut shrimp was ok - the shrimp itself was kind of flavorless but the dipping sauce was ok - bit too sweet. There were only 4 shrimp too! For our entrees we shared the pumpkin red curry, fried duck and vegetable pad thai. I think the pad thai was pretty good but nothing to rave about. The pumpkin curry was good too but nothing spectacular. The duck dish was disappointing - we thought it would be whole pieces of duck that were fried and crispy but this was basically a duck breast, fried and served with a overpowering sauce that made the duck soggy. The last thought that annoyed me as well was that they charge $3 for brown rice. So if I lived nearby, I'd probably come by for the salad and maybe the curry if I was craving Thai. Will I drive back here from the bay area, no. I'd probably give it about 3.5 stars if I could.

  • Jen F.

The owner of this restaurant wrote me a note after my first review apologizing for the bad experience I had and saying that it was not the typical experience one would have. She even offered to buy me dinner to make up for it! That is super sweet, and if I ever happen to be in Reno again, I will probably give it another chance. You gotta appreciate a place that cares that much about their customers' satisfaction. So, I will give it another star just for that, even if I haven't re-tried the food.

I'm a fan - that's for sure. The best Papaya salad in Reno. I'm trying to go at least once a month - sometimes more. got take out at least 3 times and always was hot, fresh and hot. big portions. good service. nice atmosphere.

Their peanut sauce is a good complimentary to satay dishes but I didn't understand why their curry sauce for the sizzling plate is made out of curry sauce too. the serve is quite attentive. if you come in, don't forget to check in for their 15% discount =]

I LOVE this Thai restaurant! My favorite dish is the Sizzling Chicken Platter. It is so flavorful! Chicken, spinach, cucumbers and peppers in a coconut and peanut sauce that comes to you on a hot skillet with white rice! Any dish you get, though, will be tastey and worth it! Plus, as an added bonus, my fav dish is only $10!!!

Definitely some of the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. The golden vegan baskets are also delightful, and come with a great peanut sauce. I've had the red curry here, never the green, and it's great. The service is always top notch. Just a word of warning: do not mess around with the stars. If you aren't sure how spicy you want your food, err on the side of caution. Two stars is enough to make my eyes water. I don't even know how high it goes. I don't want to know.

After having lunch here, I remember why I haven't eaten here in a long time. After every meal I've had here, I always feel I overpaid for a sub par meal. They offer a lunch special menu for $7 something for a cup of soup, 2 entrees, rice, and a fried wonton. I had the basil pork and chicken with egg noodles and mixed veggies. Other offerings were chicken curry some veggie dish and something else not worth remembering. Eh. After enough hot sauce it actually tasted like something. The pork and chicken were both over cooked. I won't be back for a while...

Fantastic! So happy to know there is excellent Thai close by Tahoe and I don't have to travel to SF or LA. Had the following that were all spectacular. Also asked for *most spicy*....and it was perfect, for us anyway. 1. Pad Thai 2. Pineapple fried rice 3. Red curry 4. Spring rolls

  • Geoff G.

wife and I had dinner tonight. Everything was way too sweet. The spicy basil noodle was soggy and mushy. They should use better quality noodles. The red curry had a ton of coconut milk which totally overwhelmed the curry taste. The peanut dressing tasted diluted and again way too sweet. Thai fried rice was ok but I wonder what kind of poor quality rice was used.

Great food! Service was excellent. Very nice looking place, and very affordable. I downloaded their app, and even got 15% off. I tried my first Thai beer(Hang), and it was delicious! They even had a couple days with drink specials( I think Mojito Monday, and Margarita Friday...?) that sounded great. Looking forward to our next visit!

Possibly the best Thai food in Reno? I finally got a chance to try the BF's favorite Thai restaurant in Reno. It's not just his favorite, but all of his Reno buddies' favorite too! It was super busy on this Friday night, reservations were a must for our party of 7. I was surprised seeing so many people waiting to be seated, coming from all walks of life too! Everyone had their favorites, so this is what we ordered: * Papaya Salad ($7.95) "Tossed together shredded green papaya, tomatoes, green beans, hot chili peppers, garlic, ground peanuts, cooked shrimp. Served with deep fried beef strips and sticky rice." - Light dish, but adds some heaviness with the beef. I particularly enjoyed the sticky rice that came with it. * Chicken Laub ($6.95) "Your choice of beef, pork, or chicken mixed with pepper onions, scallions, cilantro, mint leaves and lime juice served with a wedge of crisp lettuce leaves." - My favorite out of the group. It's a messy thing when you fill up your lettuce cup, but the tanginess from the lime juice makes it oh so good! * Pud Thai ($8.95) "Thai noodles stir fried with shrimp, chicken, deep fried tofu, egg, ground peanuts, bean sprouts, and scallions." - Pretty standard pad thai. * Duck Curry ($10.95) "Roasted duck cooked with Thai eggplant, pineapples, tomatoes, bell peppers, basil leaves, and a mild curry mixed with coconut milk." - The group had to get two orders of this stuff. The curry tastes really good when you dump it all over your white rice. * Stuffed Thai Omelet ($8.50) "Special omelet stuffed with your choice of ground beef, pork, or chicken, green peas, carrots, onions, and scallions." - It's a stuffed omelet, pretty simple. All the food was easily devoured by our table of five guys and two girls. No leftovers at all. I think we probably could have thrown in another dish with these heavy hitters! And of course, Thai iced tea ($2.25) all around!

Amazing Thai food! I got the pad thai ($10) and it was absolutely perfect! My husband got the duck curry ($12) which I was not a fan of, it had coconut milk in it and it was really strong flavored. All in all a solid 4 stars and a wonderful, quick place to get some awesome thai.

Great lunch specials with very good portion sizes. I had the chicken Pad Thai with the pepper chicken as the second entree choice. The Pad Thai was decent but I wasn't a fan of the pepper chicken (it wasn't prepared poorly or anything, I just wasn't a fan). Peanut sauce on the side costs $1 but it was a great addition to the meal. The Tom Ka Gai was a bit thin but tasted great, though I felt that the chicken was [slightly] overcooked. The service was *Excellent* and they didn't know I was a Yelper until after they produced the check.

Bangkok's Thai is consistently excellent and always fresh--a dozen visits and great every time. I typically enjoy their $7 lunch specials that are fun because you get to try 2 entree choices from the 5 offered daily. The chicken red curry with bamboo shoots has fresh chicken pieces, red bell pepper slices, and bamboo shoots in a delicious red curry sauce. The Pud Thai is soft and delectable. The beef with basil is another great item with a hearty brown basil sauce. I didn't much care for the beef with broccoli when I had it. Though the flavor was as expected with fresh broccoli pieces, the beef wasn't as tender as one might expect with Chinese beef with broccoli. The Shrimp Rangoon was crispy fried, filled with a shrimp flavored pinkish cream cheese. A colleague of mine at the table with me swore it was previously frozen, but I'm not so sure.

I have never had one bad night in Bangkok! This place is quiet and tastefully decorated with relics and pictures of Thailand. The dining area is intimate and calming, and service has always been friendly and efficient. I am always surprised at how quickly my food arrives. I enjoy me some good spring rolls and bangkok has great ones- fresh and crisp vegetables wrapped up with a hint of mint, paired perfectly with a delicious peanut sauce. Although there are many tantalizing items on the menu, I cannot help but order the sizzling platter every time I dine here. Sometimes I switch it up and get pork but it is best, in my humble opinion, with chicken. The meat comes sizzling hot on a bed of spinach and peppers, and is covered with fresh cucumbers and a spiced up variation of peanut sauce. So good heaped upon the steamed rice provided with each entree. Thanks to the ease of sharing these dishes, I have had the pleasure of trying the crispy duck, which my dad claimed to be some of the best duck he had eaten. I have also sampled the curries-red, yellow, and green. I like the red best but they are all great- smooth, creamy, and coco-nutty. I am cookoo for coconut. A visit to Bangkok would not be right without the Thai iced tea. It is orange and earthy tasting, topped with sweet cream. I swear by Thai iced tea- not only is it tasty but I believe it can cure a bad hangover. Bonus!! I also have to mention the sweet sticky rice with mango. MMM MMM good... This place is awesome. The portions leave me perfectly satiated, but not stuffed and sluggish. The prices are surprisingly low for quality authentic Thai family recipes. One night in Bangkok and the world will surely be your oyster too!

Bangkok Cuisine is everything that any good Thai food restaurant should be: clean, authentic, and prompt. I've probably eaten lunch and dinner at Bangkok Cuisine over one hundred times, and I can't recall a single bad meal. The menu is very large, and you might be overwhelmed. Anything basil is a sure success, and you must have a Thai tea. What I like most about Bangkok Cuisine is how they've resisted the trend to serve 'chipped' meat like their South-end location and other Thai restaurants , and keep with whole traditional beef and chicken pieces. Lunch and dinner are busy times, and unless you arrive early there might be a short wait. It's worth it! I recommend Bangkok Cuisine to everyone for their lunch specials (good price) and dinner menu.

Went back by total accident while traveling thru town again. This time the food was awesome! Our red and yellow curry weren't greasy like the last time we went. I don't know if the first time I went they had a new chef or just had an off day? I have no idea but at least they figured it out. I'll try them again the next time I'm in Reno and hopefully they'll still be right on target.

Very disappointed. After reading the reviews and a recommendation from a friend that loves Thai food, I had big hopes. To begin with, parking is a pain. If I had not read the review to park in the rear I too would have parked in the wrong lot. The place was fine, a little dark, but the menu was large with many specials for all price ranges. We had the misfortune to be placed next to a table of four really loud older women with strong views which Was unpleasant. The device was fine and the food arrived quickly. The dumplings were tasty but dense and difficult to cut. The Thai Ice Tea was nice, but how hard is it to mess that up? I had the Bangkok Delight with chicken and shrimp, the sauce was good but the rice was dry. Everyone else had a form of fried rice. I knew it was great when no one finished their plates. The worse part was the bathroom which you reached at the end of a long hallway. The floors were so sticky that I fear that I left the bottom of my shoes trying to leave the room. All in all, not bad, but I will not be back. There are equally and better places without the downtown traffic or the parking issues.

So the three of us drove all the way down to Bangkok Cuisine South last night only to discover they aren't open on Sunday! We were dying for some spicy Thai food and a quick web surf and phone call on the iPhone confirmed that the original Bangkok Cuisine location on Mt Rose is open on Sunday night, so we put the pedal to the metal and beat it over there pronto. First, be careful where you park when visiting Bangkok Cuisine! Parking in the wrong lot will get you towed or booted with a $100 fine on top of it. Second, if this Sunday dinner night was typical then get there early! We arrived around 6:00 PM and didn't have any issue being seated quickly, but shortly thereafter the house was packed with almost every table occupied. We had most of the same dishes as per my Bangkok Cuisine South review and they were equally on par in both taste and quality; stuffed chicken wings, satay, beef salad, some kind of pan fried fish patties, pud thai, and yellow (panang?) curry chicken.. However, this time we were able to order the Spicy (whole) Fish on this visit. We're not sure what happened as we ordered it 5 Star spicy, but are Spicy Fish didn't live up to its name. It was a nice size fish and was well prepared and tasty otherwise, but the Spicy Fish minus the spicy was a bit disappointing considering its market value price tag. The coconut ice cream for dessert is great though. It washes away all the spiced-up tingling tastebud overtones with luscious, creamy sweetness. Our only other minor complaint is that the interior temperature was a bit on the high side for our visit. Coupled with heavy doses of Thai spicy food this made for some perspiration and general discomfort at various points throughout the evening. The service was very adequate at this location on this night.

YAY BANGKOK! My boyfriend and I love eating here, and taking our out-of-town friends here as well, it is definitely one of the best Thai Food restaurants in Reno. The service is always friendly and prompt and the food is always served fresh off the heat! The thai tea is so good, a waiter even gave me a bit of the mixture to take home! GOODIE! Price is decent for the quality of food you get! This is the Bangkok to eat at! It's sister down the street still has some kinks to work out..

First off, let's just say that I like this restaurant...it has good Thai food and great, authentically Thai atmosphere (thus the 4 stars). That said, I do not think that the food is so great that it surpasses all other Thai food in Reno. Bangkok is decent Thai food dressed up in lots of hype. There are plenty of Thai restaurants in Reno that are just as tasty, and some are cheaper. I do not feel a deep sense of loyalty to Bangkok Thai--Thai Royal House used to be, in my opinion, the best Thai food in Reno, but sadly, they are now closed. One major drawback is the service. I have never had really good service here, which is more annoying in a Thai food restaurant, as most other Thai places in town are actually run by Thais and offer famous Thai-style friendliness. As I said, the food here is good, but no better than you would find at any more casual Thai place...it is, however, more expensive. They just added fresh spring rolls to the menu, which are really excellent, better even than Golden Flower. Their Panang Curry is great, and their Pad Thai scrumptious. I find the Tom Ka Gai to be somewhat lacking, though. Bangkok Cuisine is definitely worth a visit, just don't buy into all of the rave reviews as this being one of the best restaurants in Reno...it isn't.

I am a pretty big fan of Thai food and visit Thai restaurants often when I'm traveling as well as cook it at home. The service at Bangkok Cuisine was friendly enough, but the food really fell flat. Everything was overly sweet and there was no hint of spice in anything we were served (nor did the waitress ask about our spice preference, so I assumed it would be the standard Thai spice level - HOT!). I even salted my food (in addition to adding lime juice and sambal chili paste) in an attempt to counteract all the sugar. The curry and peanut sauces didn't contain a hint of the coconut milk they should be based on. For the record, we ordered a soup, the green papaya salad, and the sizzling platter.

I had eaten here several years ago and felt it was much better then. Ordered Laab Gai, Som Tam and Tom Kha Gai last night. It was just ok. I've been to Thailand several times and this was pretty watered down fare. I would go back, but if you want the "real" taste to Thailand, you may want to speak with the waitstaff and tell them as much. Service was good, ambience was nice. Food just left me wanting.

Best Thai in Reno, good authentic thai classics. Atmosphere inside is great, cool interior design. Service is good. My favorite is the spicy basil noodle.

We were in Reno for a weekend and were in the mood for some Thai food. I found Bangkok Cuisine on Yelp and based on the reviews we decided to give it a try. After being seated the waiter didn;t return for a good 15 minutes to take our order - we ordered Tom-Kha soup along with entrees of chicken and a tofu curry. The soup arrived in a bizarre container that was shaped like a bunt cake container pan. The ladle didn't even fit into it making it very difficult to pour the soup into our individual bowls. Our entrees were yummy. When we were finished the waiter cleared our table and we asked for the check he didn't come back for another 15 minutes. All in all the food was good but the service was terrible - next time I'll go back to Reno I'll be eating somewhere else

I am a fan. We come here all the time for the great lunch specials. They make a fantastic red curry chicken dish. Service is always fast and the food always fantastic. Check it out and decide for yourself.

An escape from the casinos. Was actually here on a previous trip earlier this year and returned. What initially lured us in was the 15% yelp check in offer. It's Thai so it's not that expensive to begin with, but an extra discount is always appreciated. Food was solid. Had the seafood soup which had lots of seafood. Pad Thai, and a Duck Curry were both good too. Seemed fairly full for a Saturday dinner which usually indicates that it's at least a decent restaurant. Another bonus for the value - they provide white rice at no charge. A nice surprise since most restaurants charge anywhere from $1-2 a bowl these days!

After my first time trying this restaurant, I think I just haven't figured out what to order here yet. For starters, I had the vegetable coconut soup and it was really great! And a small order was more than enough to serve as an appetizer for two. I ended up ordering the Basil Fried Rice with no meat/protein, just vegetables. It was good. Not as spicy as I would have liked it. I didn't like the fried egg on top, it was too runny for my taste. But I ended up eating almost all of my fried rice dish and was full after! So like I said, it was good, but not one of my favorite Thai dishes in the world (or Reno). The coconut soup, I might crave again though. I have a favorite dish at another Thai restaurant, and since I don't know a whole lot about Thai food I guess I was expecting to find something similar to what I've liked before. So that's why I'm saying I think I just haven't found that "special" plate yet at this restaurant. I might eat here again, especially if friends want to go. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Keep in mind though, I'm not savvy in the Thai department. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, and the service is great!

I was in town for business overnight and craving Thai...good reviews and a 15% check-in discount led me to Bangkok Cuisine. The restaurant was easy to find and after relocating the car (apparently you have to park around back or risk getting towed/fined) I was ready to enjoy some Thai goodness. I started out with Pork Larb (12/10 spice...lol) and a Singha. The larb was excellent. Great balance of flavors even though the spice was enough to linger for a good ten minutes. Next it was on to the Chicken Pad Thai (8/10 spice). Although not the best pad thai that I have eaten, it was well done and I managed to eat the entire plate...which would prove a detriment after another several beers, but I digress. Prices were standard (at least compared to Thai in Vegas) and I thought service was excellent. The waitress was by several times and the busser was quick to refill my water. A great experience and I won't hesitate to return on my next trip to Reno.

I LOVE THAI and am very picky. After reading ALL the reviews of Bankok Cuisine, I took my husband and son (who lives in Reno but hadn't been here). We had appetizers in the bar (with beers) while waiting for our to-go order. Great bartender Reni was very informative and friendly. We ordered calamari, tom yum goong hot soup in the bar and took home pad thai, chicken laub (larb), panang curry, papaya salad, Bangkok sizzle, and their fresh (not fried) spring rolls. Everything was great! What I needed to know is that their heat scale is NOT 1-5 like most of the Thai restaurants I've been to. Theirs is 1-20 so I would definitely order at least a 10 next time, and there WILL be a next time. In fact, if they had been open for lunch today before we went home, I would have gone back. The panang could have been a little thicker but the taste was RIGHT ON, just like the pad thai and the papaya salad. The spring rolls are very different but good. The larb was served with a wedge of letttuce, so tasty!!! Can't wait to go back!!

This is still our favorite Thai Restaurant. Beautiful decor and relaxed ambiance. Fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Favorites: ~Shrimp sizzling plate. Fresh spinach, coconut milk, shrimp, and peanut sauce. It is a party in your mouth. ~Pud Thai. The best in Reno. ~Fried bananas with ice cream. We always make room for this. Tips: ~They DO accept American Express. :-) ~Parking is not ideal. You have to go through an alley to park. ~They serve brown rice. (Extra $3) ~You can request extra scoop of ice cream. ($2.50) ~Service is always prompt. ~Get there early or make a reservation as they are busy for dinner.

I know everybody has their individual taste preferences, but for me Bangkok Cuisine and Thai Lotus are as good as it gets for Thai food in Reno. I have a couple of favorite dishes that I rarely deviate from: Tom Kah Gai (soup), Yellow Curry Chicken, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew; and both the Lotus and Bangkok make theirs the way I like it. I like three basic ingredients in my yellow curry, besides the sauce, I only like chicken, potatoes, and carrots (a little onion is okay). Some places put bell/red peppers, etc. in which I can't stand. I don't know how to explain it but many places serve an orange Pad Thai, but this place serves a yellow Pad Thai, which I prefer much more because it's not as fishy tasting. You have to order their "roti" a little flat bread type of an appetizer or curry accompaniment that is insanely good for being something so simple. Now, while there may be some places in...umm...San Francisco that might be better than the Bangkok, however, I don't (nor do most people) have the convenience to drive there from Reno on a whim for dinner. So again, for Thai Food in Reno, in my book Bangkok and Thai Lotus are as good as it gets and receive 5-stars.

My favorite restaurant in the entire world! I literally eat here for my birthday, anniversary, and any special occasion I can think of. The staff is great and most have been there a long time. Every time I try Thai food (in San Diego, San Fransisco, Vegas, and Reno) I compare it to Bangkok Cuisine. Never once has anyone's Thai food exceeded theirs. Prices are so good that I can really go there any time I am craving it, which is a lot. I highly recommend it. It might take a couple chances if it is your first time trying Thai food. Panang curry is great, Shrimp Rangoon, Chicken Satay, Coconut Soup, Thai Fried Rice. Some of my favorites. Mmmm all this talk about Bangkok Cuisine - I know where I'm going for dinner tonight!!

I have not found anything exceptional about Bangkok Cuisine. The service is frequently slow, the last time we ate there we were brought the wrong food and despite mentioning it to the waiter twice, he did not seem to understand that when one is served the wrong food, they expect something to be done about it. The pad thai is average, the meat entrees are a little skimpy, but the place is reliably 'ok' **update** Returned to Bangkok Cuisine after several months, and was sorely disappointed to find out that a bowl of rice to accompany your entree is now an extra and costs $2, that just irritates the heck out of me. I think I'm taking Bangkok off my list, I will just go to Thai Chili from now on, I think their food is better anyway.

Best Pad Thai ever, I always make a point to try it at other places when I travel and nowhere has ever even come close to the amazing flavor here. I love it, favorite Thai in Reno hands down.

Having had some bad Thai experiences in Reno, this is NOT one of them. The food here is consistently wonderful at this location. My snobbish overseas friend raved about it as well. The best Thai in Reno. Try the Curries. Better Yet try the other location across from Meadowood, it's light years better atmosphere and furnishing....

Pretty slow service, but the food is GREAT! The cocktails aren't anything to be trifled with either, plenty strong and great tasting. Went there last week with 6 other people and I didn't hear a single complaint among a variety of dishes. Mine was delicious. If they picked up the pace of the service a bit this would easily be 4 stars.

I have longtime been a fan of Bangkok Cuisine! My friends and I grabbed takeout dinner at Bangkok South (5851 South Virginia St.) this past weekend, and again we were very pleased with our meals! I am completely stuck on Spicy Basil Noodles here (ie, "drunken noodles"), and I give them 5+ stars! The Rangoon and Chicken Coconut Soup are also amazing. Bangkok Cuisine South is a newer location with a unique lounge and full bar. If you want Thai and great atmosphere check this place out.

Som tum (****) and chicken with coconut soup (****) were OFF THE CHAIN! I've only been to two other places that trump this place with regard to authenticity and quality and they aren't even geographically close. The service was quick and friendly. If you're in Reno and want Thai this place is TRUE to the reviews so most def try it.

Delicious! I'm a big fan of the Pad Thai here! I also love the coconut puff appetizer. I'm not sure that's the name of them but they are deep fried wontons with cream cheese and coconut inside. So yummy!

This is my favorite place in Reno to eat Thai. It's got a great location, very central to downtown and near a great bar (The Chapel Tavern, just don't park in their parking lot). I recommend the sizzling platter, bean thread noodles and black pepper and garlic entrees. I always order with fried tofu because I'm a vegetarian but I'm sure their great with chicken, beef or seafood. The service is ALWAYS fantastic, the atmosphere is great and the prices aren't too steep. It's a great place to go with a group of friends and share different entrees.

this place is totally worth going to and i would probably go back to this place again when i can. the restaurant: this is a very nice and spacious place to eat at. the atmosphere was nice. the tables looked nice. the whole thing had a very nice thai theme. the bathroom was kind of creepy. you have to walk down the cold corridor and it looked pretty creepy. the PARKING warning to all look at the front door to park in the correct locations otherwise you will get a ticket. the food: the food was very good, i liked alot of what we got. the "pud" thai was normal, it was good as pad thai is expected to be, sweet, greasy and moist. the beef skewer appetizer was good, the beef was a little bit chewy, but they give lots of peanut sauce to dip all your food in. the curry was pretty delicious. the chicken was nice and tender and the sauce tasted great with the pad thai and rice. the beef broccoli was good, the deal was two entrees for 8 dollars. very good deal for lunch. the service: excellent service. they waiters and waitresses brought all the food out in timely manner, and the drinks were refilled constantly. the hostess and guy up front were very courteous. it was a pleasant experience the 4 stars only cuz the good was good but not GREAT. it was worth the price though. totally worth checking out.

Awesome food. We had Pumpkin Curry, Black Pepper & Garlic Chicken, Pineapple Fried Rice and Chicken Satay. Everything was fresh, The spiciness was spot on. I asked for hot and got hot, not warm, not nitro, just hot. Service was brisk and attentive. My kid loved her Thai iced coffee. I've also eaten at the express in NW Reno and it too was awesome food! Will be back!

I loved this place for Thai food, then I went to Thailand for a month. While there, I had some incredible and authentic thai food that was so good, that I thought that it would ruin me on going back to Bangkok Cuisine. Lo and behold, I got back to Reno, waited about a week, then came back to Bangkok Cuisine and I still loved it! Now, I love thai food in general, but I HAVE been to sub-par thai places in my time, and this is pretty spectacular!

There are more Thai restaurants in Reno now, but for a long time, Bangkok Cuisine was the one and only (or at least, the one that everyone went to). As a result, even though there are more options now, I'm still faithful to Bangkok for reliably good food and service. The place has nicer decor than you might expect - cloth napkins and layered tablecloths, and carved wooden screens dividing the room. There are also cheesy Thailand travel posters, sure, but you won't be noticing those once the food comes. I always get a side of the cucumber salad, which is crispy, sweet, and salty in just the right way. The Golden Basket veggie appetizer is also excellent, as is the chicken satay. They have tasty curries ranging from mild to spicy, and the kitchen can dial up the spiciness if you want, but I usually stick with my favorite pad thai (which is good, though not outstanding, here). The entrees range from $10--15, but most are about $12. The dessert selection isn't huge, but they have some fun and unusual things, like mangoes and sticky rice (yummy!). Usually, though, you'll be so full from their huge portions that dessert won't even be an option. Still going after all these years, Bangkok Cuisine isn't flashy or especially hip, but delivers good, reasonably priced Thai food for girls' night out or a low-key date.

This is our go to Thai spot in Reno. There food is always good. The sizzling platter is delicious, and their calamari is unique and one of my favorites! Their basic thai dishes like pad thai and panang curry never disappoint.....oh and the papaya salad is sooo good!

I went here for lunch on a Friday and was politely greeted and immediately shown a table. The waitstaff was the right level of attentive. I got the lunch combo for $8 with the stir-fried veggies and the basil chicken. I was underwhelmed with both, but especially the basil chicken. There were maybe 5 small pieces of basil in the whole thing--not what I was expecting. It was also not spicy and not overly flavorful. The veggies were unremarkable. The portion size was just right. I probably should have listened to my gut and ordered from the full menu and not the lunch menu, because a number of things looked very tasty. But really, for $8, this is a good place for lunch. Maybe I just chose my food options poorly.

I think this place is awesome. I am totally surprised by the two negative reviews! Well, I have been going here for years and I have never been disappointed. It is centrally located and the staff are always friendly. I remember awhile back when they had hookas and belly dancers at night--did this last? Great noodles. Great place for a date.

I'm spoiled by having access to a variety of cuisines here in Boston, but I rather liked Bangkok Cuisine. A friend and her husband brought me here when I was visiting from out of town and I loved it! I keep bugging my mom to come here and get down with some good Thai food (she loves the stuff) but I might have to drag her myself next time I'm in town. I haven't eaten at Taste of Thai, but if this place stacks up with my beloved Bangkok City in Boston, I think it's worth the four stars.

Being new to the area we tried this as something different. I had the peppered salmon, and it was delicious. I had asked to have no onion but it came on it anyway. No problem I have to pick it off of everything. Overall we really enjoyed our experience easting here and plan to visit again. Monday nights have become our night to dine out because everyone else is home watching football. Thanks to the reccomendation from Catherine S on 'Yelp' we found a really nice special place to eat.

My family and I have eaten at this restaurant soooo many times over the past few years, and we always leave stuffed and happy. AMAZING service, delicious food, and it's not that expensive. About $50 feeds 4 adults with plenty of leftovers. Their pud thai and coconut soup is perfect, excellent mixture of spices, never over-powering. Two other Thai food places I've tried (Taste of Thai, Thai Chili) had nothing on Bangkok Cuisine. I've tried all but a few dishes on the menu, and my only issue occured about 2 years ago when I unknowingly ordered a very spicy dish. Luckily, my waiter came right back and brought me the same dish in a less spicy version, without any charge. I wish I could remember the name of the dish to warn anyone else who doesn't read menus very carefully haha. I'm getting hungry writing this, so my last words of advice are: Highly recommended! Stop reading this and go eat there now.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in all of Reno. My favorite dish is the Black Pepper Garlic Pork ... 4 star hot. I visited Bangkok Cuisine weekly for nearly a year. I'm bummed that my work schedule doesn't allow me the same flexibility any more. My favorite server is Kong - I hope I don't spell his name wrong! We always get excellent service - to the point they recognize us and what we regularly order. When we're rushed at lunch, it is never a problem to say "we have to be back to the office in 40 minutes"

Love this place. Good food, nice decor, reasonable prices. I go here when I take a long lunch, or for dinner. They put a lot of attention into the decor, which is nice. But the food is why I come back. The jasmine tea is nice, and every dish I've ordered is well-prepared -- fresh ingredients and tastes great. Wait staff are friendly and timely. I'll go here again and again, recommend it to friends, and take visitors from out of town to eat here.

Went to the new one on S. Virginia the other day for a friend's birthday dinner. There were maybe 15 of us. They did such a great job with service, timeliness, cleanliness, and just going above and beyond. They had closed but we didn't know it, and nobody said a word. The food was amazing. I tried the red curry - and I have to say - very impressed... I have to take back my previous review about their curries now. I really like the new location's decor, too by the way! Super comfy. I love their "booths" in the very back... which are way better than booths, but I don't know what they're called.

The best Thai food I have ever had. Have eaten at a lot of Thai places in the Seattle area and Portland area. Food is reasonably priced and portioned like any other food you would get at a Thai restaurant. Staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. Parking lot is confusing. Lot is in the BACK of the restaurant. Great for all ages and any number of people. Got their Pud Thai --- again, was the best I have ever had. They put everything you would normally get in a Pud Thai plus shrimp which makes a huge difference. This is a must eat while in Reno!

First date I took from my boyfriend was here, and I have never tried thai before. Now it lives in a good high place above others, not because it is a good memory but because the food is actually better. The Tom Ka Gai is excellent, lots of filling, and your choice of spice. Pad Thai comes on a medium sized platter, not oversoaked in peanut sauce. Any of the curries are excellent, taste homemade. Don't forget your Thai Iced Tea! The waitresses dress in geisha attire, which I thought was pretty. The room is perfect for a romantic setting. Not too bright, and seems relaxed and not too loud either.

Some times the original is the best. Now that Bangkok has 3 location I don't make it to the original as often. But when I do the food is still amazing. I'm not sure if the pan's and fryers are seasoned from years of cooking but the Curry Pops seemed to have a better flavor here. My favorite is the Chicken Panang Curry with the Black and Pepper Chicken a close second. The Thai food is authentic and great quality.

Bangkok is so great, I have never been disappointed. I've had many of their dishes, and pad Thai is always my favorite. The flavors and peanut sauce in that bad boy are awesome. It's also a great place to go if you're a vegetarian, great diversity within the menu. It's also a good sit down restaurant, wonderful relaxing environment and deco. The price isn't gonna kill you, either. Hands down one of my favorite places in Reno. I saw a promo on their new location off of S. Virginia, and that location looks absolutely gorgeous!

I have to agree with others. Very good papaya salad. I ordered at level 5 heat and it was awesome, but I can eat pretty darn spicy being Korean. I did bring a little pain but worth it. I've also had the sizzling platter and it had good full flavor and they keep Icky on tap so there is another bonus. I ate here two times, both times in the bar because I like to watch tv. They also have a good happy hour menu, although small and you can't get the papaya salad. Maybe if enough people request it, they'll put it on there.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! I ordered take-out after a long day of work today and when I checked in on Yelp to get my 15% off, after writing a great review on the Papaya Salad, I was told I could not use my discount, that it was for dine-in only. Really? Since when? I asked him where it said that on Yelp becuz I saw nothing & he said he doesn't know and it should be on there. He refused to give me the yelp discount. Well, I don't have time to dine-in ANYWHERE and I grab from this place BECAUSE OF THE YELP DISCOUNT, so now I will be going to one of the other SEVERAL Thai choices in the area. Don't advertise a discount if u won't let us use it.

Best Thai in Reno. Consistently good food. You can get different levels of spicyness. Thai ice tea hits the spot (get the to-go version, which you get twice as much for the same price). Great service.

Best Thai food I've ever had!!! Get the Thai Tea and the amazing light desert of Mango's and Sticky Rice. Plenty of non spicy entrees for those that think Thai is all about crazy spices, the Pad Thai is the perfect dish for that uncertain diner.

I thought this Thai place was great, and so did my husband and his family. We ordered an appetizer and 6 main dishes and they were all very good, my favorite was the green papaya salad, it was just the right level of spiciness. For all of those people who are saying 'it's fine for Reno but it would never cut it in a bigger city', let me tell you that I live in the East Bay and I've had some pretty average Thai from places that seem to be busy. Bangkok Thai has fresh tasty food for reasonable prices, for a party of 5 the bill came to about $85 and there were left overs for lunch the next day.

we've been here once or twice in 2003 courtesy of my friends here in reno. very recently, we had a good dinner where we had a coconut based seafood soup dish, padthai, & a sizzling pork platter with peanut sauce. the service was great, which says a lot about how the owners treat their employees. the restaurant's full of customers, on an early Sunday evening at that!

One of my favourite places to eat in Reno, and certainly the best Thai food here. Great service, reasonable prices, welcoming atmosphere. I really like the sizzling platter or thai green curry. And, of course, Thai iced tea. Their desserts are fantastic too.

Never been a big fan of Thai food myself, but this place changed my mind. The dishes weren't overly sweet to the point where it didn't taste great. I loved the fresh vegetables and and the use of spices in the dishes. I love the coconut milk and spinach blend and also the fried rice is definitely different, but tasted awesome. I like the idea of the over-medium egg on top, since I am a big fan of runny yolk. The only drawback is that they forgot to put a skewer in my boyfriend's to-go box.

Best Thai food in Reno! My finace and I have been going here for 4 years and frequent Bangkok at least once a week. The waiters remember our order every time. I highly recommend the Spicy Basil Noodle. The Roti (Thai Flatbread) is a must. I don't see enough people ordering this, it is buttery, flaky goodness. For dinner, if you show up on a weekday between 4-5pm it will be less crowded. The later hours during the week can be BUSY BUSY. Amazing place!

Bangkok Cuisine is one of Reno's must-visit restaurant if you like great Thai food at a great price. The lunch special is around $6.95 and includes choice of two entrees, rice, a curry pop and cucumber salad. My favorite dishes are Chicken Curry, Pad Thai, Pepper Chicken. Check it out.

The food is good, but definately not the best in Reno. Try a Taste of Thai for good food and better prices. However, this place was my husbands favorite. It is constantly good food, and the service is the same. They have lunch specials that allow you to try 2 different items on the menu. Their Thai Coffee is good too !

It's difficult to write a review when you have only eaten at a place once, but it's likely that we won't return to a place a second time if we had a bad experience the first. So, I assumed Bangkok would be much better since it has received many good reviews. I found the service to be disappointing and one dish to be bad--spicy green beans. When the beans were sent back (due to their being nearly raw), the server returned with beans that were overcooked, and a red curry sauce that had since coagulated. Disappointing.

My significant other and I have tried six thai places in Reno and this is by far our favorite. We tend to order the same items each time we have dinner at Bankok Thai, as our dishes always remain consistent and we enjoy them too much to branch out. However, when we have had dinner with friends, I have tried their meals and they were delicious as well. I always order the Pad See-ew, wide rice noodles with tofu (you can substitute chicken or pork) and broccoli, and my boyfriend orders the famous Pad Thai with chicken. Sometimes we also order the fresh spring rolls and egg fried rice with chicken. The food is always consistent in its taste. The thai flavors are very authentic which is why we like Bankok Thai so much, it tastes like true thai food. You can make your meal more spicy by adding 1-5 stars when you order your meal. We have also ordered our dishes for take out, and even after the 20 minute drive home, the food still tastes just as good, and is still warm. Whether you are eating in the restauarant or at home, I highly recommend Bankok Thai to fulfill your Thai food craving.

Bangkok is easily my favorite restaurant in Reno. The food is consistently delicious, especially the spicy basil noodle and the mixed vegetable pad thai. The only drawback in my opinion is the speed of service, which can be slow, particularly at the end of your meal when waiting for the check. As far as take-out goes, however, this place is A+++.

after a long cold crazy day of snowboarding, i need a spicy hot meal in a cozy atmosphere. this is the only thai restaurant that i like to go to in reno. its really decorated nicely with thai furnishing...even those triangle pillows in the entrance area. it is a small quaint place and very cozy. i recommend making reservations if you have a big party. ive been going to this place for almost 10years now and i havent been disappointed. i always recommend the spicy sweet and sour papaya salad. take some shredded papaya thats been mixed with hot pepper, fish sauce, and peanuts, take a dab of sweet rice and have it wrapped around a piece of cabbage. the chicken wings stuffed w/ground beef and dipped in a spicy sweet chili sauce is always good. the main reason why my buddies and i go here is for the duck curry, which ive yet to find anywhere else. we like to order 2, sometimes 3 orders of duck curry. yeah, its that good. gawd, i think we push the limits of our stomachs to fill it more with duck curry. imagine slurping up a spoonful of a piece of duck breast meat w/ skin swimming in a pool of fragrant curry spices, creamy coconut milk, and hot peppers. delicious...

Ordered Pud Thai for lunch special with my father who was here for my college graduation. My father had the chicken curry and fried tofu platter with rice. It was a lot of delicious food for the both of us for a great price. I definitely suggest their lunch specials. A great atmosphere with the place and great service. Will definitely be back!

One of my favorite restaurants in Reno, and definitely my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is always great and the service is friendly. My favorite dishes are the Panang Curry, Larb and Pud Thai, and the Thai Iced Tea is always refreshing!

I guess I don't get it. I don't want to pay this much for the crappy service, crowded eating conditions, and difficult selection. Yes, I am vegan. Yes, you have tofu. You have Thai Yellow Curry but it only comes with steak or chicken? Why can't I have tofu? Okay, okay, so you have this sizzling dish that combines peanut sauce and yellow curry - but what if I don't WANT that? And what if I don't want to pay $12 for it? Please refill my water. Please don't sit me so close to another table when there are so many other spots available. Please lower your prices. That being said, the food is good. It's not the BEST THAI EVER OMG but it's good. They have these (overpriced) basket appetizer things that are straight-up amazing, but two chomps and you're out $6. No thanks. The atmosphere isn't much, either. I liken it to a doctor's office with framed photos of royalty.

After living on Guam and having a more-than-wide-array of choices for Thai restaurants, I have become picky about my Thai food and it's become a staple in my diet. Moving to Nevada was hard because I had to rely on my own cooking skills and Thai is a hard cuisine to master, but I'm glad I discovered Bangkok! We had Shrimp Satay that almost left my boyfriend and I licking the plate and most definitely fighting over who ate the last piece of shrimp. I had pineapple fried rice not wanting to take too much of a risk at a new place, but I am SO glad I did! If you want shopping mall fried rice, don't go to Bangkok. Bangkok will deeeeelight your taste buds with chunks of pineapple. I was happy to take home to Fallon the leftovers! Boyfriend had duck curry and was pretty impressed. We finished the meal with coconut ice cream and let me just say... I love ice cream. In fact, I'm a freak. Coconut ice cream can fail hard if too much oil is added or ya know... it can go wrong. But nothing was wrong with Bangkok's. Their ice cream tastes like ALL coconut ice cream SHOULD. Bangkok can easily be my favorite Thai restaurant stateside. Oh yeah, I mean it.

Glad we finally tried this place. Everything was great. I especially enjoyed the Vegetable Hot & Sour Soup. Nice use of Yelp...I was pleasantly surprised when my check-in unlocked an instant 15% off coupon.

For Thai I probably go here the most. I enjoy the location close to downtown and service has always been friendly and the food solid. My favorite dishes are yellow curry chicken and shrimp pad thai but I've tried some others as well that were quite tasty. The decor captures the culture, although something about the place feels retro and it's on the darker side in terms of lighting. This is a good place to go for small groups or 1-on-1 and is reasonably priced. I'll keep coming back.

I have been to two of their three sites. Wonderful curries at both. The service at the original site on Mt. Rose St. was good, the Mae Anne site was less so. The prices are reasonable. I am looking forward to exploring more of the menu.

Found this place by chance at 9pm when we were having a rough time finding something open besides a bar. We got two appetizers, four entrees and basically cleaned the plates between the four of us. Staff was very friendly & next time through the area we will be coming back.

Bangkok Cuisine is one of my favorite restaurants in town! Excellent food and great service at a good price! I have not had anything I thought was less than amazing to eat here! The chicken coconut soup is a staple for me! The Thai omelet is a favorite as well and not something I would usually order. I would highly recommend trying Bangkok Cuisine if you have not yet already. There are many Thai restaurants in town but none come close! The lunch specials are amazing too! Hope you enjoy as much as I have!

This is our go to lunch and dinner spot every time we are here... And not just for the Thai craving . The food is great and service is awesome! They can get busy pretty quickly for dinner so there may be a wait time . If recommend RSVP for big parties of four or more! Curry, yum! Pineapple fried rice, yum! The flavors are good ! I always over stuff myself here. Great portions.

This places' pumpkin coconut curry is Through The Roof - never had better curry in my life. Their service is excellent, menu options are diverse and prices are reasonable. The place is sort of dark but nothing to cringe about.
