Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Worse experience in dining I've have ever had. The service was slow, took a good 10 min for a waiter to take a drink order, another 10 for the drinks to arrive. Chips were good... the food??? Worse possible try at Mexican food ever!! At an avg $15 a plate and $2.75 for soda, please don't waste your time. Besides the horrible service, the food wasn't even edible, it was disgusting, scary looking and just wrong. After talking to the manager he agreed to remove two of the orders off the bill. He then blamed whoever it was on the line and proceeded to a phone near by, calling ( or pretending to call) the kitchen to ask who was on the line. Not sure if that was to make us believe he cared and that one line cook ruined 4 plates? But that was unprofessional. The server seemed to be the only one in the place, so maybe he was busy... but even placing our order he made difficult. To me, when you see two plates on your table with only a one or two bites taken out, you should ask what the problem, not avoid the table until you drop off the bill. I understand things don't always go right and I hate giving 1 star. We visit the Riverside 3 - 5 times a year and have plenty of friends that go as well. And I saw the yelp review of 2 1/2 Stars before hand, but figured.. some people leave bad reviews for the wrong reasons. In this case, not true (sorry for not believing yelpers) at all, was truly and horrible dining experience. Chips and salsa were great, wish they just sold that. I would give them 4 Stars.

I love Mexican Food. During a recent visit to Laughlin I saw this restarant and thought it was worth a try. Wrong. When the waiter came I asked what were some of his favorites. He said the chimmie chunga and the carne asada. I chose the carne asada which is generally a tender marinate steak often cut into strips. This thin grilled steak arrived and was dry and over cooked and not seaoned. I do not think it ever saw the marinade. My wife ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup. It was a chicken soup with avacado on top. Once she put some of the salsa in the soup it became more of a chicken tortilla soup. Mexican food is generally easy to make and tasty. My experience here it was not. Generally when a waiter comes to your table and sees you left more than half your meal on your plate he questions you regarding the meal. I got nothing, no how was your meal, is everything to your liking. Not a word, he picks up the discarded plates and returns with the check. Oh and the salad that came with meal it took a water bath good, but it needs to be drained prior to serving and topping it with dressing. Go to the buffet.

Always expect crowds on the weekends, but tables turn over quickly. Delicious salsas. Entrees vary, I find the tortillas a bit weak - tough, bland or too flour-y. Even so it's some of the best Mexican around. Years ago, we lived in Laughlin and this was a regular spot. Now, we return a few times a year. On a recent visit we had the El Padrino Burrito - large and tasty. And the carnitas, definitely have had better, these were pretty average. I wouldn't order them again. Tortilla soup to start was good, though.

We ate here a couple nights ago as we were visiting my mother who lives in the area. It was a pretty slow night yet the waitress rarely came by when we needed her, like when when the wrong soup was served. The big thing for me was that there was a shard of GLASS in my daughter's burrito!! It hurt her tooth, she found it in her mouth! They didn't even comp the entire meal when I told them. Just half off. The food is crap and apparently dangerous. Buyer beware!
(1)Patricia K.
Have to say this was a huge surprise considering the past reviews! Had a second bowl of chips and requested bean dip was not charged extra for them. We had the El Padrino, one with enchilada sauce and one without. The meat was extremely tender, flavorful and it was a huge burrito. It was also my birthday so they gave me a great dessert, free and sang happy birthday to me. This place was great the only complaint is the waitresses never checked to see if we needed anything we had to ask another person to get more water. But the food was superb!

I gave this one star because they wouldn't let me give less. Casa Serrano is simply awful. I went to Laughlin for this first time this weekend. It was not busy, a fairly quite weekend. We went for lunch and it was not crowded at all, but the service was just terrible. It took forever just to get a waiter to take our drink order and it took a long time just to get the drinks. We had beer - you can't screw that up too bad, so I can't really rate the bar otherwise. But the food is just really not very good at all - but they are pretty darn proud of their guacamole because they charge $8.50 for a side of it. I had the taco salad - it was flavorless, the lettuce was old and it was the part of the lettuce you normally send to the compost bin. Absolutely no one at our table finished their food - it was just that bad. If you like Mexican food, do not visit this place. You will be terribly disappointed.

We almost always go to Casa Serrano when we visit Laughlin and it's been a very good dining experience every time. The salsa and bean dip that you get when you are seated are really good. We always go with a large group and everyone has always loved what they had... never any complaints. I usually get the carnitas wrap, and it's delicious! Really tasty margaritas too! The service has always been very friendly and attentive and they don't give us a hard time for splitting the checks up which is very nice!

I headed over here after the disastrous harrah's blue something. Granted there was no vegan options, the salsa was great. Our drinks were refilled promptly and salsa too.
(4)Alexandra M.
My family and I had lunch there today. It took a while to get our drink orders in. The waitress (Maria) was incredibly rude. She never smiled, never asked us if we needed drink refills, did not bring us silverware or napkins. After we were all done eating she asked how everything was, I told her my food was kinda cold and she just stared at me, then walked away. Never apologized or anything. My boyfriend ended up complaining to the mgr about how horrible she treated us and told him she obviously hated her job. The mgr apologized and said he would take care of it. Either way, the food was good but the service of Maria was the worst I've ever experienced in my life. We are good tippers but we did not leave her anything. My boyfriend left a tip w the mgr and asked to give it to the staff but to not give Maria a dime. Worst waitress ever!!! I told her as I was walking out "if you don't like your job, then you should not work here. You were So RUDE!!!" She just stared at me again like a dumbass and yes she knew and spoke perfect English. Avoid this bitch at all costs!!!

One of the ways I rate a Mexican restaurant is by the quality of their salsa. Its one of the first things I taste and usually gives me a good idea of what's to come. Well, Casa Serrano passes that test with flying colors. They offer not just one salsa, but three; two of which I thought great. The chips were fresh, but a bit too salty. OK, then... What's for lunch? I tried the 'Mexican Flag', a combination of three different enchiladas each covered in a different sauce... A machaca (shredded beef) enchilada with red sauce, a pork enchilada with ranchera sauce and a chicken enchilada with verde (green) sauce. They were well presented and very tasty! I would have rated Casa Serrano w/ 4-stars if it were not for the 'stickiness' of the table side and chairs along with the strong (nauseating) smell of disinfectant in the men's room. Will I visit a Casa Serrano again? Most likely.
(4)Rus S.
We were seated almost immediately and that's where the timely service ended. It was pushing half an hour before our water and drinks(soft drinks only). They were grossly understaffed, even for being half empty. I had almost 30 seconds to eat my dinner salad before our dinner orders all were brought to the table. Food(Machaca) was ok, nothing to write home about and the rice was cold. Go across the river and choose somewhere else.

This restaurant is excellent. Authentic Mexican food and drinks. The restaurant is extremely clean, bathrooms are very clean. Service is prompt and friendly. When you come in they serve chips and salsa, we had Mango Margaritas it was amazing. I had Steak Mexicana and my wife had Steak Diabla both very good. Steaks were cooked right, they were tender and over all great dining experience. I can't wait o go back and to their other restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant.
(5)Stephanie D.
Ok, maybe I'm spoiled living in SoCal and have some of the best Mexican on any street corner, but how anyone could rate this above 1 star is beyond me. The margaritas come premade and put in the glass via the hose that you usually see soda coming from. There isn't a bartender, so anything your order understand it comes from the little bar hose. On top of that it tastes like dirty tap water. Sent it back and asked for water, which tasted as bad as the drink. Never received the beans that everyone raved about with our chips, food was flavorless and lacked any authenicity. Service was slow and waitress only came to us when we went looking for her. She never checked on us on our food. Overall an expensive dinner for less than 1 star food or service. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Food was blah
(2)Kristine A.
Liked that they offered all day breakfast on the menu so choose this place. Took us awhile to find it as we wondered around the Riverside Resort (signage could have been better), but once we found it had a decent meal. This is more Tex-Mex food IMO, but it was good. Service was friendly. Table by the windows can be a bit cramped/close together, so we asked to be moved and they were accommodating. We went for breakfast, but actually ended up ordering off their very nice lunch menu - which has a TON of selections. The food we got, mini tostados and enchiladas and mini tacos - were very good. Selection of meats - I had the shredded chicken and it was good, not dry. Had deal on Sangria - so had that - it was good but a little sweet for my taste. The menu has a good selection. I would recommend this. Laughlin doesn't have the selection of places like Vegas, but this is one that I would visit again.

You guys that talked about this place ur guys r on crack! Im true mexican american and the service was awsome! Chips salsa was great and the margaritas were awsome! My girl and I got carnitas burritos plate and that was best carnitas for laughlin!so I do give this place a thumbs up! So next time we visit we will b back to this joint! Peace out!
(5)Tara W.
So this was our third time visiting the restaurant last night. We have been to Laughlin multiple times and as I stated last night we went with mediocre expectations given previous experience. Why do we return....the food. Really pretty good for Laughlin. The service is just sub par!!!!. Every time we come we have a large group and the way the restaurant is set you expect that they are used to serving large groups but it took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence at out table and then another 10 minutes to get our drinks which were screwed up. As she was leaving our table with the wrong drinks we mentioned taking our food order and the look she gave us was as if we had offended her. We got up and left the wrong drinks at the table. I would have given a lower star rating for the service, but our group does actually like the food. Really not sure if we will visit in future. We are from Southern Cali and we will go back home and get better food and better service

Came on the 4th was very very good...great service drinks very good.
(5)Richard B.
This Gringo Mexican place has some of the best service at the River: literally in two minutes, we had drinks, ice water, chips and three types of salsa and bean dip. The food is pretty basic, and true to most joints of this ilk, the portions are super sized: the super taco is the size of a folded hub cap and stuffed full of lettuce, cheese, meat and really exceptional seasoned sour cream.

This restaurant is a real hit or miss. Sometimes good, others not so much. Must have new management in the last decade at some point. At Casa Serrano's opening and the handful of years that followed, both food and service were excellent. It has changed for the worse, and remained inconsistent in quality & service for the last 5 years. Don't eat here during peak dining hours. You will likely get bad service and meals, especially on weekends. The wait staff doesn't handle crowds well, nor does the manager. Best bet to try Casa Serrano is an early, late lunch, or dinner on weekdays. That's when I've experienced better meals. A ton of food choices, but I wouldn't recommend any of the fish dishes. Most everything else is as described in menu. A good waiter can assist in ordering the best dish for your tastes. Although well made furnishings are present throughout the large restaurant, it is a bit obnoxious in coloring & decor.... kinda like a pinata threw up. Keep in mind, this is Laughlin and your choices for good Mexican food are slim. I know Harrah's has a place, Baja Blue. It will be pricier than here & is only open for dinner. Never tried it, but Yelp has a couple decent listings for Baja Blue. Maybe try it yourself & review it for your fellow Yelpers!

To start off, the chips were rather salty. The spicy salsa was awesome and they give you retried beans to scoop with tour totilla chips. Yummy. I had the mole poblano and it was quite good. Can taste the chocolate. It was served with rice, retried beans and albondigas soup. All was good but, the beans were the best! Friends had machaca and egg and carnitas. Both dishes we served with rice and beans as well. Both were very good, a tad on the salty side though. Sevice - 2 Stars - quite slow Food - 4 Stars Ambience - 4 Stars - quite colorful and fun

Worst Mexican food I've ever had will never return

Oi Vey- what do I say, how do I rate- I hate when I'm stuck in the position. So, here's the run-down of my friend and I's experience here. We saw this place as we were driving down the strip to our hotel, I thought, "Oh sccchnap, margaritas!" So...We come back after a night of gambling and drinking so we can enjoy some good food and draannnk. We walk-in and were immediately seated, that was nice- after about 5 minutes the waiter pops up and brings us water, chips, two kinds of salsa and beans. That salsa is off the chain, the one is kind of spicy, but I LOVE me some spice and if you do, you'll love! I believe I heard it's made in house, soo sooo worth it! So, I had finished my water within seconds and patiently waited for the server to pop back so I could order another and a Sangria and food, well 10 minutes later no one comes. So, I flag down who I think was the manager, he was friendly and got the drinks for us. 10 minutes later here comes the waiter, hooray! I know since there were 5 tables taken in the entire restaurant and they had another waiter, it must have been too much for them to handle, seriously- so sad! Anyways! Since were eating chips were trying to be somewhat carb conscious on lunch (alcohol doesn't count, duh) so we ended up getting the same thing, a fajita steak salad. I liked mine, it was pretty tasty (nothing to brag about) and my friend said he was okay with his. (He felt nauseas later and said it was all the grease from the salad, no carbs and the alcohol from the night before- so take that however you will, I didn't have that problem) SOOOOO let's talk about that Sangria! I mentioned margaritas earlier but I saw they were have a sangria special so I went with it, and boy oh boy I was glad I did! I had about 4 and then finished my friends and then I ordered one to go! Cheers on that! Yay. It was STRONG, like almost like drinking cold red wine at first, but for some reason it just kept getting lighter and lighter- I'm assuming the buzz kicked in. Anyhow, loved them so much I was back the next day for 3 more. SO, I had to give this place three stars because the servers were gosh awful and service is a HUGE thing in my ratings for a restaurant. I might have even gone as low as two because the service was that bad. However, that guy I flagged down watched out for us the rest of the lunch and he was there on the next visit and took care of me. So because of him 1 star, the salsa 1 star, and the sangria 1 star. Five stars can be achieved with better servers who show interest and come around more than every 10-15 minutes, especially before food has arrived!
(3)Adam T.
Please be advised that the one star hardly qualifies this restaurant as edible and is only there because a review cannot be made without at least one star. That being said I nearly fell to the floor in dismay when I saw a similarly named restaurant within a few miles receive a 4.5 rating and thought that some yelpers were referring to this abomination of the Mexican food name. Luckily it was another restaurant that I can only hope is something completely unrelated. When you first walk into the establishment known as Casa Serrano you might think you have found something worth doing in Laughlin, NV. Its decor is a little bit "disneyish" but it appears clean and has a Mexican feel and even the menu appears to be copacetic and so you are lulled into a false sense of security and you begin the process of ordering the absolute worst Mexican food that one can find on this small blue planet. (This includes anything from the frozen food section or anything I can possibly think of.) Both myself and my gf are vegetarian (although I am newly so don't think I don't know how good a dank carne asada burrito is) so we ordered some of the veggie fare, a chili relleno burrito and an item called tostada a las papas. Usually vegetarian food is a safe bet at any sketchy restaurant because at least you don't have to wonder about the meat but here at Casa Serrano there was no such luck. The burrito that I ordered came with a so called "enchilada sauce" and chunks of celery were all over it. The enchilada sauce was horrible and tasted like a thinned out pasta sauce. The chili relleno inside was not totally bad and even had a little authentic cotija cheese in it that was the most pleasant part of the meal. Unfortunately I was starving and was forced to eat as much as I could stomach, however when I got to the halfway point and was nearly done anyway I came across a big old hunk of meat that even in my meat eating days would have disgusted me. It seriously looked like the kind of meat that is in those Frisky Cat cat food commercials only bigger. My gf's tostada a las papas was a tostada that was topped with the skins of potatoes, and I don't mean potato skins like the appetizer because that might actually be good, no this was just the skins of potatoes, lettuce, tomato and a measly spoon full of sour cream. The waiter saw that I was not eating my meal and so asked what was wrong, when I told him about the meat he asked if I wanted anything else, I said no I couldn't possibly eat something else from here. When the check came nothing was taken off the bill and I had to talk to a manager to get the burrito removed, something I commented to my gf we had not had to do for years. Long story summed up: Don't ever go to Casa Serrano, besides there is an In'N'Out right down the street.

Came in hungry sat at the bar. Ordered a margarita and a super taco. The service was excellent. The drink was stiff with an orange and lime slice with salt on the rim. Free chips salsa ,bean dip and tacos. Only at bar. Lots of specials to choice from. This establishment is related to Casa Serrano west

Went here on 7/13 for dinner and immediately felt unwelcome by the entire staff. The hostess was busy on her iPhone when we stood there for a few moments wondering if she was going to seat us. Our waiter was nice but it also was irritating that we didn't get a refill on our drinks the entire time we were there. I mean the check came before he even refilled our drinks!!! Give me a break!! It was like he was rushing us to leave and I was super annoyed. Food was mediocre... I mean it's a typical Mexican restaurant... Nothing too special. I think they really need to hire new people... It was total crap with their service. We will definitely not be coming here again.
(1)Darryl C.
Well i was at this place in late Dec....Seemed like a normal restaurant but where it starts and stops for me is the fact that the service was terrible. The waitress came one time and that was it. Theres one thing if you are busy and cant get to everyone in a timely manner, then there is just plain apathy. Now I will read all the other reviews and I bet they all say the same thing.
(1)Fidel C.
Casa Serrano @ the Riverside Hotel in Laughlin... GREAT! Always are Saturday night dinner after a long day on the water! Service is a bit iffy at times but the food is always worth it.
(4)Claudio Y.
ok the dinners were pretty bland salsa was ok chips were thin and pitiful the beer was warm the micheladas was like drinking sewer water. wait the beans were the best thing so when you come here order only the beans thats it.
(3)Jennifer F.
This place is horrible. Im sitting a the table now waiting for bill... gross! I had a shrimp cocktail, garbage. No flavor, barley any shrimp and even cheap knock off saltine crackers. My husband had a enchilada.. i tried a bite and the sauce was nasty..eww. I agree with the other post on here about the sauce tasting like watered down pasta sauce.. I dunno how this place stays in buisness! I am not a picky eater and I always give places a chance, but this has been the worst Mexican restaurant I have EVER been too!! Best part about this place was the chips and the exit!
(1)Jorge G.
Food was ok, service was good, but the big surprise was after I paid more my meal at the cash register, they stole my credit card ID. I cannot recommend this place. I wrote a letter to the owners to give them a chance to make things right but they chose to ignore it. Business as usual must include stealing customers' credit info.
(1)Laura R.
Margaritas were horrible. I love chile con queso and at first theirs was okay but as the meal went on it became unedible--love the flour tortilla chips however. Salsa is good. Tacos and taquitos were average. Service was pretty good. Coming from California we're pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food and I gotta say this was pretty average to blah.
(3)tina c.
Two dinners, once in June 2010, the other in August 2010. Thought the first one was bad, but the second chance really hammered it home. First, realize there will be a long wait, period. Not many sit-down choices in the Laughlin strip/ area. Secondly, realize that there are a lot of um, "interesting" people that go there. Thirdly, I don't think this place is ever staffed well-- always way too many customers for them to handle with anything resembling service. The wrong drinks are brought out (ie, calling something iced tea when it's actually soda, etc.). Cracked cups leading to a v slow but massive spillage. Inattentive servers that hand you CRAZY HOT plates withOUT warning you. And just, severely botching up orders. (This last time, two young ladies each ordered a bowl of soup-- two different kinds of soup mind you. Somehow, only one bowl was served, but the server so "thoughtfully" brought out an empty cup and extra spoon for the other girl to share. *roll eyes*) And the food. Ugh. Yes, the bean dip for the chips, is AWESOME! So what if everyone in our 6 party and then 18+ party groups got sick the next day from it. The bean dip is delish! But that's it. The first time I went, I got a combo plate, the tamale was super dry (despite the disgusting sauce drizzled over it). And worse, the enchilada was a freaky, flavorless mess. This last time, I figured I'd go for an easy omelette (surely that can't be messed up too badly). While the guacamole was okay, I think there was enough guac stuffed inside to serve the whole 18+ party group for chip dipping. And while it wasn't bad, it wasn't memorable guac, either. Both times, the boy wasn't impressed w/ his dishes. First time he got a burrito and this time the Serrano tacos. The food is just so blah. In appearance and taste. So all in all, prices aren't horrific, but given the lousy seating, the lousy food, and the even lousier service? I just don't see a point in ever eating here again.
(1)Blake Matthew B.
Service really slow. Food has really gone down hill even more.
(1)Bob C.
Great Mexican! Great value and great taste! There are two locations one in Bullhead City, El Palacio, and one in Laughlin, Casa Serrano. They have a kids menu too.
(4)Amy H.
The service was awful...not our waiter...he did the best he could. It was the complete lack of servers. It seemed like our waiter was busting his butt covering the whole dining room. They need more for the dinner rush. The food was also not very good. We were all pretty unimpressed with the entrees. The second star was because the food was delivered quite promptly...otherwise it was just pretty unpleasant.
(2)Mark B.
It's the better mexican restaurant for the Laughlin area. I've normally have dinner just prior to seeing a movie at the Riverside Casino Theater. We stay at the Aquarius hotel and walk up to the Riverside Casino via the River Walk.
(4)Mike S.
EDIT: This review was originally a response to a vegetarian complaining about the food at Casa Serrano no suiting his diet, and claiming that it was "the worst Mexican restaurant on the planet." The spineless person to whom this review was a reply has since deleted his commentary. I'm listing that as a W on my sheet. I'm leaving my review/reply up as I believe my points are valid, but I've decreased the star rating to be more in line with what my actual opinion of Casa Serrano/El Palacio truly are. End of edit. Original test follows: Oh, boo-hoo. The previous reviewer is whining about the food at a Mexican restaurant, while simultaneously admitting that he's a vegetarian. Excuse me, but if you limit your personal diet so much that you don't eat meat, you have NO RIGHT AT ALL to claim that a restaurant is the worst possible food of its type on the planet. Casa Serrano isn't all that great, I'll admit. The decor is overly kitschy, the service is occasionally slow, and the food can be mediocre at times, but saying its the worst when you don't even bother to try the carnivorous side of the menu (in an effort, no doubt, to make yourself feel like you're "better" than the people who DO eat animal flesh) is ignorant and narcissistic. STFU and eat a steak, already. I'm only giving this place 4 stars instead of 3 to counteract the stupid skewed vote of the moron before me who has no justification at all for reviewing ANY food if he's not going to give a restaurant's menu a fair try.
(3)Ann W.
Great service and really good food! We ate early so they weren't super busy. I had the eggs and chorizo sausage and my husband had the pork chimi. We loved everything and plan on returning later this week while we're in town. Chips and salsa were excellent.
(4)James L.
Crappy service and higher prices, not worth it.
(1)Mistletoe T.
The best Mexican food in Laughlin! If you come to Laughlin you have to eat here.
(5)Lewis L.
I went there in June of 2011. The service was bad, the quality of the food was very poor and chewy. The manager said if I ate more than 20 percent he will not refund.
(1)Bob M.
Casa Serrano is not good Mexican Food. Mediocre at best - and we have tried it multiple times, so it was not just "one bad experience". The drinks are good, though. The decor is kitschy. You can do better....
(2)Brianna M.
Definitely not Spicy, IF you like more TexMex type foods this is not the place for you. The only thing they have that is spice is their hot salsa. Their sour cream has chives in it, which is weird for mexican food, and THEY DON'T HAVE QUESO DIP!!! But on the plus side, their cadillac margaritas are awesome!! And very potent, all you need is 2, but there is no limit to these bad boys.
(2)Lisa G.
Awful. Came here for lunch on a Sunday (3/23/14) and had the worst service and the worst food. I have been here before when it was much busier and the service and food was ok, but for some reason this trip was just horrible. From the start, when we walked up to the hostess stand, our hostess and waitress was already blabbing to someone and didnt acknowledge us until a minute later. She then takes us to our table, I then notice a few broken tortilla chips on the floor, you'd think someone would clean that, but nope! We order drinks, boyfriend orders a soda and a water and I order a mimosa. It takes our waitress a good 2 minutes to figure out they dont have champagne, so I just order a water. It took another 5-6 minutes to get our drinks and the boyfriend didnt even get his water. Whatever. We order food now, boyfriend gets shrimp ceviche and I order a chicken chimichanga and we get the guacamole appetizer. After a while I noticed she hasn't brought our appetizer and we said to ourselves how much you wanna bet they bring it with the meal... sure enough... but we told our food runner that we no longer want the dip because we ordered that as an appetizer NOT a meal, so she takes it away and they remove it from the bill. So I take a bite of my rice, its freaking cold!! The beans look burnt on top, like they stuck the plate in the microwave. Gross. The chimichanga was a good temp and it tasted good. The boyfriends dish on the other hand, haha, it mustve been sitting out for a while because as he picked up the tostada it completely fell apart because it was soggy!! He almost spilled it all over me!! His rice and beans were cold as well. So mad! We were starving and it sucks that we have to eat crap when you are soooo hungry! Our waitress disappeared after that. No refills, no how is everything, do you need anything else? Nada. My boyfriend was so fed up he just got up and went to the bar to get a refill on his soda. She FINALLY comes by and asks how was everything and I told her not very good but she just had a dumb look on her face. Screw this place. Overpriced and awful Mexican food is wrong. Here's a tip, walk your hungry butt over to the Riverside Cafe, you'll be so happy you did.

I liked this place! Service was extremely good with lots of attention and our food coming very fast. Salsa was pretty yummy. Their food is not great but good. I enjoyed my Mexican flag trio of enchiladas. The only complaint I have is that the margaritas were so weak I honestly thought they might be virgins. If you charge $9 for a very small margarita you need to make sure they taste like a good margarita. They may need a better bartender but everything else was good! I would have gone with 4 stars if their cocktails were better.

We come out here for vacation twice a year. The first meal we have is here. The service is awesome and the number 9 picante burrito is to die for. The price is very reasonable too.

Avoid, rude service. Bad Manager. As a family tradition to stop at this establishment, this last un-welcoming experience will be the last time we step foot in there. Got there and im part of a big group i was told an hour wait, understandable, but when an hour turns into two and other guest are going in there and being seated right away. WTF. Everytime we went to check if we were almost up, the sorry excuse was im sorry our server for that area is backed up it'll be another 20-30 mins. Enough was enough asked to speak to the manager. Whom has the worst customer service in listening and taking into consideration a large party that will have a pretty nice tab. Manager pretty much said, you see this i wanna show you that we are busy. Really, plenty of tables throught the restaurant and other people get seated before us. So itll be another 30 minutes if anything to get you seated. I will not be waiting for 3 hours in total. In other words the manager didnt care about good business, and told us i dont have time for you, F-off and keep waiting. No way to treat customers at all. Really bad experience.

All the people posting that the food is wonderful, must have never tasted good mexican food. The courtesy bean dip is probablyy the best thing they have to offer. My brother and dad insist we go there on every trip to Laughlin. The food is always a let down. Typically I stick to the nachos. I want to say I like to go there after a long hot day on the river md have a nice refreshing margarita. But they served us margaritas in soda glasses!! What the!!!!! Kids plates are huge! If u have children that are small eaters, have them split a childrens plate. The quesedillas were good. Chicken plates were bland, cheese enchilada were not tasty. Albondigas soup my brother said was good, Dad said carnitas wrap was good. Huge bowl of shrimp cocktail got an OK review. Service was good and fast. The place itself is family friendly, relaxing atmosphere, and clean. If u eat here, make the nachos your main meal and make sure your margarita comes in rhe appropriate glasss.

I've heard good things about the restaurant in AZ, we came with some friends to the one in NV, we didn't get to eat because the wait was RIDICULOUS, not because there were too many people but because the people (that worked there) seemed to be a little lost. So I don't recommend it, we left and we are heading to the one on AZ
(1)D L.
I have been here quite a few times when visiting Laughlin and I think their food and service is great. I was here just yesterday and just as good as ever. I don't get the negative reviews and in my opinion some are pretty stupid. I've probably been here at least 20 times and always received very good service and food. The food is not as good as my favorite at home, but I'll definitely be back when I'm in town.

We are a fan of the sister restaurant el palacio. Went here due to our love of that place sadly disappointed. Service was non existent, weren't even offered the normal bean dip. The chips were over salted, and my husband's ground beef wasn't even salted. I ordered a lemonade and was given margarita mix in a chipped cup. This was perhaps some of the worst food and service that I have had in a long time. We definitely will not be back!
(1)Adrian M.
Felt like the waiter was rushing us, chips and salsa were low quality, ordered horchata tasted like water, burrito was small, food tasted fake, no love put into it. Way over priced for the food they serve. Must be to pay for the decorations inside. Not fooling me with your so called mexican food.
(1)Lee Ann B.
Worst service by Antonio!! And horrible soppillas ! They were burnt. Must, the cost of a a la cart bean and cheese tostada was $9.50! When I questioned this he got an attitude. He was the absolute worst waiter we have ever ever had. But the food was nothing to brag about and needless to say I will never be back. There are just too many choices here !!
(1)Larry G.
Service was good but that's where it ended. The food was mediocre and the $8.50 margarita was worth $1.00. Find a Taco Bell.
(1)Debbie Mary A.
The chips and dip you get when you're seated are just okay. The chips is pretty good, but the dips could definitely be better. I didnt find it tasty or anything spectacular. Ive been here 3x, ordering different food each time. Ive gotten a burrito, chimichanga and mexican pizza. Of those 3, the mexican pizza taste the best. The others, even my boyfriends meals, were really bland. It didnt taste like anything. It just wasnt that great. The service could be better as well. Even though the restaurant was empty, they were slow in taking our orders. We gave it a chance by going there 3x, but we wont be going back.

Was a little disappointed. I just moved to town for two months for work and wanted to find a good Mexican restaurant. I was recommended this place by the man who rented us our jet skis. We were seated almost immediately by the poor guy at the front who seemed to be the only one really working at all. He was responsible for seating everyone, taking payments as well as bussing the tables. He was not able to keep up, but it really isn't his fault. He needed help. My boyfriend and i were not only starving but dehydrated from being on the river all day. I kid you not, we finished an entire order of chips and both salsas before we were even greeted by our server. The 'chip boy' was also very prompt. The wings appetizer was fairly good, once we got it thirty minutes after being there. Then our food was delivered shortly after. I ordered 3 enchiladas with green sauce. It was obvious that the food had sat under a heat lamp for quite some time, being that my beans had a hard layer on top. The rice was undercooked and dry. My boyfriends tamale was Also dry and could have been served with a lime wedge because it was also very bland. As a restaurant manager, I could easily see that the front of the restaurant was understaffed and the server truly did not want to be there. She also mentioned she had no idea what a few of thing menu items tasted like because she never had them. May try it again, may not.

Food is nothing to write home about and the service is horrible!!!!!! My husband and I love Laughlin but we have always been disappointed with this place. It's too bad because sometimes you need a change from the buffets but don't waste your time here. The only positive thing I can say is the bean dip is good but just know you will wait 30 minutes to ever see a server again.
(1)Eric T.
Great food and I thought the service was good. The wait time was not too bad, 6:30 on a Friday night.

Went to dinner here on August 23rd with my boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend. I was watching the little info on the riverside hotel on the tv while sitting in my room and decided, why not give El Palacio a try, it's across the street and we were all starving from a long day on the river. When we were finally seated (20 minutes when you could look inside the windows from outside and notice there were PLENTY of empty tables) it took forever for us to have our drink orders take, let alone receive them, but the bus boy handing out chips and salsa was a joy. Sure kept us from starving continuously bringing us baskets of chips before they even ran low. Went to order our food and our server was definitely acting odd and fighting with my boyfriends sister about her order and how she should decide two different things than she was ordering and when it was time for him to bring it by the table, he didn't even remember what she had ordered. I got the chicken enchiladas, not much to write home about, but who knows I might just be a spoiled girl that lives in SoCal and can get good Mexican food anywhere. The "green" sauce wasn't anything I had ever seen before... it was chalky and not sauce and the chicken seemed chewy and wasn't edible. The beans were the worst refried beans I've ever had in my life and the only saving grace on my plate was the rice, which was decent enough to keep me from starving. Along with the enchiladas I also ordered the albondigas soup, which had some odd flavor that I couldn't place, it was almost like it had some gross sink water flavoring with too much salt. My boyfriend and his sister both ordered the desert burrito, I didn't taste it and my boyfriend took one bite and refused to eat it. The tortilla looked hard as a rock and you could tell the cheese on top had been microwaved on to the tortilla. It was sad, I could've had my 10 year old sister make me a better burrito. The only redeeming grace that they seemed to have was the manager agreed to take both my boyfriend and my meals off the bill because we didn't eat much of either of them, but not until our waiter pretty much got into a fight with us over the fact that he thought we were lying. We didn't feel like paying $40 for two plates we didn't eat and thought it was fair. tl;dr The food isn't worth the price tag and the waiters weren't very friendly. Feel free to visit if you like chips and salsa because those were the only things worth it.
(1)Cameron S.
We were seated immediately and then waited 20 minutes for our drinks and about another 15 minutes to order our dinners. Once the food was ordered it was out in another 15 minutes roughly. Meals came out and then one of the dinner salads showed up... Food was mediocre to passable. Restaurant is severely understaffed, and the few people here are running around to cover for how many people the manager shoved in here. Chips and salsa don't excuse the overall poor service.
(2)Jean G.
***PROS*** * Greeted & seated right away * Drinks served promptly * Chips & salsa served quickly (didn't get any bean dip - what gives?) * Server took our order fairly quickly * Nice ambiance, beautiful view by the window ***CONS*** * Slow to receive check, but our server was VERY busy. She kept smiling and tried to be attentive * Little on the expensive side. 1 salad, 2 sodas, and child's menu item came to $25/prior to tip.

Friends wanted to come out after a day at the River so came to check it out. Parking - Have to park in the casino parking structure and then take the elevator upstairs. Restaurant - Older and dated but gives you and authentic mexican food vibe. Service - Very slow as it took about 10 minutes to have our order taken after we got our drinks, and to pay the bill it took a while to get it and we just walked to the front and had them ring it up to speed it up. ( They dont split checks on larger groups. ) Food - My meal was actually good with decent portions and would recommend the Carne Asada a la Mexica for $14. Friends said the food was ok. Would probably not come here again and try out other restaurants in the area first.

Good morning to whom this may concern, Yesterday 7/5/2015 we decided to experience your restaurant and try your food. We were a party of 7. We are tourist in this town and this was our first time trying your food. I must say with all humbleness that this is by far the worst place Ive ever been to. Your server Tonya was the only and best experience in the restaurant! On the other hand, the lady that called herself a manager, "Adela" was just outrageously rude and offensive! I can't even begin to express how she made us all feel! We ordered our food, and let me start off by saying that all of the entrees that we ordered were so salty that we couldnt enjoy our food. We had one particular entree that was a fish plate and the person eating that entree is 83 years of age. The entree was so salty, it wasnt even eadible. We are not the type to complain, that is why we kept eating the rest of the food, but we had to say something about that particular plate. The manager came and since that incident she didn't know how to handle the issue. She didn't even apologize and she said thats how the food is prepared." Its probably the sauce, its just how the fish is marinated." So we told her, "everything is salty, the cook is adding too much salt to all of his preparations". She ended up changing the entree to something completely different. So in the pictures shown in attachment you will notice our more important issue of this trip to your restaurant! Yes a black hair in our food, in between the cheese and the tortilla, something that couldn't be placed by your customers. That was her accusation towards us, that we were the ones who placed the hair in the food. I was outraged that a manager of a popular restaurant can stand there and accuse your consumers of such a thing. How dare she accuse us of placing a hair in the food??!!! How is she even a manager if she can't even address an issue that pertains to her handling. She proceeded to tell us that she would call a security so he can inspect the hair and determine where the hair came from. What kind of excuse is that! As a manager, you are representing the company you are running and she should have addressed the issue in a different matter. She wanted to have security take over and fix the issue but all she did was create a bigger problem. She had us waiting for more than an hour after we discovered the hair in our food. She wanted us to pay for everything and she even mentioned to us, if you didn't like your first entree you should have told me so you guys could have left!!! We are outraged that a person of business would talk down to us that way! I have so much more to say about this place and this lady Adela, but this email is detailed enough for a superior to address our issue the way it was supposed to be taken care of! I ended up paying for my party the 44$ we were charged and the other part of our party just payed for the drinks and the one entree that we had to change due to the high portion of sodium in that plate. I cant believe this person is handling issues like this in your company, i rest assure that a lot of people that waited in line to go in the restaurant left because of the issue we had with the whole hair problem and because Adela wouldn't even take care of our issue, she ignored us the whole time and we had to go talk to her at the register because she wouldn't put someone else to cash your customers out. She decided to just ignore us until security got there. I wish somebody would re train her. It is unfair that we as consumers have to put up with this mistreatment!! Thank you for your time, a very concerned customer!

Mediocre food. Service sucks. May as well eat a frozen burrito. Save your time and money.

So glad to have found this restaurant while traveling with my sisters. It us beautiful and the location grants you a terrific view of the river. It was so nice not to have casino food! The wait staff was super and gave us a sweet window seat. We got delicious iced tea which sure hit the spot in the heat. The guacamole was great - coarsely chopped and heavy on the lime and cilantro. Delicious. The spinach enchiladas were creamy and beautiful while the chimichangas were large, crisp and freshly adorned with sour cream and guacamole. Sides of beans and rice ample and outstanding. A terrific find and a nice quiet escape from the bustle of the casinos and the fast food. I will go back whenever I am in Laughlin because it was just so darned good.
(4)Heidi W.
Tonya gave us great customer service! I also can not complain about the free beans that also come with the chips and salsa! We've been a lot of places from Guatemala, San Diego, Mexico, panama, and haven't had free beans with chips so that minor courtesy is greatly appreciated! It's really good! And Tonya made us awesome drinks!

This place sucks! Do not go there. First of all, I called to see what time they closed. She said 930p unless slow, they close at 9p. We got there at 845p and there were still a few people in there. We got our order before we even ordered. Lol The food came out in 2 minutes. My food looked raw and uncooked. I left 3 quarters of food on the plate. I hate wasting food too. The water tasted like sewer. And the service horrible. The waiter was hurrying us up to eat because it was 9p and put the check on the table as we were still eating. Don't they have to still work after closing time? What's the rush?
(1)Franklin T.
Party of 14 here we were seated promptly , we ordered the parillada which is a little of all their meats. Every year we come here and they never disappoint. The servers are respectful and all these other reviews must be snobby customers because we have never had a problem coming here and we have been coming here for 5 years. I recommend it . Their beans are like one of the best I've ever tasted. Don't let other reviews fool you . People get treated the way they treat people . So with that said . Enjoy

If it were up to me they would receive negative stars. This is by far the worst place to go have dinner, there was only one highlight of the evening and that was a great attitude and customer service of your server Tonya as for your sorry excuse of a manager Adela you should get her some proper training on customer service and how to confront situations. I honestly believe that position needs to be given to someone with a clearer accent and that has better problem solving skills. If you want to stop losing valuable customers I suggest a change in your management, because from the looks of it that is the problem. I have never in my life been so humiliated like this. On 7/5/15 me and my family received by far the worst service in our life. We were treated as if we were delinquents. The so called manager Adela is a liar, rude and disrespectful. I sure hope no one else becomes a victim of this horrendous restaurant. Thanks to the Riverside hotel security for helping us out with this issue. They were kind and handled the matter like true management. Funny thing is the manager called security thinking they were gonna kick us out. Instead they made her humble herself and deal with the issue that she would not confront.

My family and I go here every year when we visit Laughlin. Great authentic Mexican food and great service. Recommend for anyone in the area looking for delicious Mexican food.
(5)Trent Y.
Consistently good food year after year. I have been coming here once a year for about 4 years and the one thing I can say is that the quality and taste of the food is consistent and familiar. The menus are just as familiar because it looks like the same dirty one I have had every year. The ambiance is comfortable and yes... even the carpet is threadbare and worn. But the food is why you go anyway.... right. So all in all a fine choice at a great price.
(3)Rosemarie M.
The food here is terrible. Canned beans. I ordered the three mini tostadas. The carnitas was boiled pork meat with no flavor, and the chicken meat was grey. Needless to say I ate nothing. Please don't go there if you know good Mexican food you will be terribly disappointed.
(1)jose p.
I been living here for 25 years and this is the last place i would go for mexican food, this restaurant is just a piece of garbage.
(1)Christa E.
Every time I'm in Laughlin I have to eat here. The food is always delicious and the service is quick. They serve a bean dip with their chips and salsa and it is one of the main reasons I go here. This time we had flautas, enchiladas and the machaca plate. Everything was flavored just perfect. Until next time...
(5)Carlos F.
I've been here a number of times, and though it was mediocre the first time, the last few really didn't give Casa Serrano anywhere to hide. Yes, the chips, beans, and salsa are really good, but unfortunately, they are the highlights of the visit. Low points for Casa Serrano have been many, from dull enchiladas, lame burritos, and uninspiring chile verde to the downright unexcusable: rancid albondigas AND tortilla soup. Yes, people, I am well acquainted with the taste of rancid soups. These two soups were not only rancid, they were boiled in an attempt to bring to an edible state. Unfortunately, I know this taste too. One small taste was enough to almost make me vomit, and I have a palate that's as resilient as it is sharp. Nothing can bring me back here, and unfortunately, this is probably the only Mexican place on the strip.
(1)Anna M.
!!! Wow!!! This was by far the Worst food I have ever tasted in a restaurant. We ordered appetizer sampler. When I saw it, I didn't have a good feeling about it.... I tasted it anyway. The taquito literally tasted like the cook personally pulled each one out of his butt and topped off the platter of dookie with them. The worst pile of whatever it was ever. Yes I sent it back, I had no choice. Chips and salsa were good. Waiter was very nice and understanding. One last thing.... As the waitress was walking to the table with my water she pulled out the straw and threw it away. I asked her for one when she was at the next table. She said ok. Came back and finished cleaning the table next to us with out a word. Next thing I saw she had her purse on and went out the door. Never got the straw. NEVER NEVER NEVER EAT THERE
(1)Dining Club Organizer B.
Stopped for lunch. We were seated promptly. Though it took about 10 minutes for a server to come to take our drinks order when there were only a few people on the restaurant, after that service was prompt, friendly, and professional. The chips and salsa were ok (not wonderful) in flavor and plentiful. The food ordered was completely bland. I ordered a super taco with ground beef and there was NO taco spices in the meat whatsoever. It literally was ground beef only. My husbands burrito was the same way. While it wasn't "horrible" it certainly was forgettable. The decor was an interesting layout with many rooms and was decorated appropriately... The restrooms were poorly lit but fairly clean. We will not be returning for food, but maybe for margaritas in the future.
(2)Steve W.
This is a must visit. Every time we come to Laughlin we stop in. Good food. Great service.
(5)Brandy C.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First of all our waitress was horrible and the water tastes like it came out of a hose. Mexican restaurant so you think the horchata would be amazing but save yourself some money and get a soda. We had a party of 10 and we all agreed our food sucked. What didn't suck was the queso dip! Whoever made it thank you! Go somewhere else. Definitely not authentic Mexican food. It's horrible.
(1)Berenice S.
I don't understand why this place has so few stars. I really enjoy this place every time I come out to Laughlin! The service is fast and friendly, they are very amenable to large parties and can get you in quick. The salsa and bean dip is amazing. I cannot really remember a time when I had s bad meal. Everybody at my table really liked their food too. I had the a la carte carnitas tacos because I was full of chips and bean dip, but there was so much yummy, crispy pork I still could not finish it. This is a good place to come after a long day on the water when you have a big party, the parking is even easy or you can walk from the other casinos. The only improvement I could suggest is changing the bleu cheese dressing, it is too watery.
(5)Michelle T.
Came in with a party of 12. We waited 30 minutes before we where acknowledged by the hosted to take our drink order. The hostess apologized and said our server was busy. We asked who our server was and she had no idea! We continued to wait with our drinks, chips and salsa. 10 minutes later still no service. At this time I was very frustrated as I watched the tables that arrived after us finish up their meals and leave. It was at that time I finally spoke to the manager and expressed our frustration with the lack of service. I asked the manager who our server was and she had no idea. She to apologized and said they are busy. I explained to her as a manager if she sees her staff is busy it's her job as a manager to jump in and service tables or what ever needs to be done and us waiting for now almost an hour is completely unexceptable. The manager apologized again and had the un experienced hostess take our order instead of taking it her self. Once we received our meals three of the 12 plates where horrible and there where bones in the supposed boneless chicken. I am giving this restaurant one star due to poor management, poor staffing especially one a regatta weekend and for the food they brought to the table.
(1)Sam V.
My family and I visit this establishment often, whenever we are craving Mexican food. The service, and food is quick and they get you in and out. Even with their big parties and crazy weekend evenings with families just getting off the lake/river. The food always tastes great and I have never had any real problems. I suggest this restaurant to many visitors who are looking for a quick bite but also good tasting Mexican food!
(4)Sarah W.
After reading all these bad negative reviews I tried to have a positive attitude. The food was amazing! Chips and salas and guac then I got the queso dilla. Service was fast and great. I'm glad that we were all optimistic about it cause it turned out to be really delicious. Would defiantly eat here next time we come to Laughlin.
(5)Jessica M.
Went with a party of about 25 people. Food was terrible. I have never had such awful albondigas in my life. It was like vegetable broth with frozen meatballs and cabbage. Gross :( My son got the quesadilla, not really impressed. Decor and ambiance is cheap looking. Very odd color scheme I think. Service was pretty bad. Although, we did come in an hour before closing with a big party. Maybe that explains the lack of service. My cousin had the strawberry margarita which she said was sweet and delicious. All in all-we will not come back.
(1)shona m.
Decent food. 3.5 Traditional decor. Ordered a taco and shredded beef burrito. Liked the shredded beef, taco was ok. Spent under $20 before tip with a coctail. Not crowded at 8 on a Friday night.
(4)Debbie M.
food: excellent. glasses: tacky!!! got served a marg in a directv glass!!!! waiters: cold, rude, and unfriendly!!
(3)Jessica A.
Ok, so when my boyfriend and I looked at all the mexican food places to eat it, I remembered a few years ago I came here with a friend (it was recommended by a friend who goes to Laughlin a lot). So I said lets give it a try. With all the reviews saying service sucked, I was little scared to go. But we went. Service was actually pretty decent. The server was attentive, the girl passing out salsa/chips was walking around making sure she replenished any bowls that were empty. The food was ok, nothing authentic or nothing to write mom about. I got the chicken fajita and the boyfriend got some burrito (I forgot the name, but it had a red sauce on it). He enjoyed his food. Again, nothing special. But I would eat here again. I think people forget that when you go to a restaurant during its peak hours that it may be a little bit. Its normal, unless you go to a 5 star restaurant and drop a lot of money.
(3)Karly S.
My family has been coming here for years and the service is always quick and friendly. They are able to seat our large parties of 15 in just a few minutes. The chips and salsa/bean dip are on point! We visit laughlin often and this is always a must stop for us.
(5)Phil K.
Way better then the posted 2 1/2 stars. Good food, great service and very nice ambiance. Thanks for the nice birthday fried ice cream desert and quartet serenade.
(4)Ed B.
The only good thing I had was the cold bottled Heineken beer. The chili rellenos were edible at the most, but the empanada was beyond nasty, full of wet ingredients forming a goulash inside the tortilla. It looks like something a drunk teenager would make after a night of partying.
