I have to confess it has been a couple of years since I have been here. However, every time I go back it is the same place. It is VERY local, and I started going with a bunch of Archaeology students from Michigan so we did NOT fit in. However, they were nice to us anyway (we drank plenty of beer and ate a LOT of food) and in the 15 years that I have been going back intermittently they have not changed a bit. They are still friendly, serve authentic and VERY yummy New Mexican fare, and keep their local, very casual air. I think it is time to go back...SOON!

I had the green chile cheeseburger with fries. Absolutely perfect in each and every way. Though the place itself isn't overly cozy with a big TV blaring in the back, the food made up for it. Fast and friendly service, huge portions and cheap.

I used to stop here a lot on my way from Santa Fe to Ruidoso. It's about the only place to eat so thank goodness the chili is good! The beans are to die for & the service is friendly. Can't say much for the atmosphere, although the bar is cool...it's an interesting old building. But I'm not there to look at the carpeting, am I?

In the middle of nowhere, New Mexico, dining choices can be limited. Most likely, this is the best place to stop for miles around. We ate lunch here on the way from Carrizozo to Santa Fe via back roads. I ordered the fajita salad, while he had the chile rellenos. My salad was a decent size but nothing fancy. Glad I asked for the beef as it was quite tasty and rescued an otherwise average meal. I added the pinto beans from his rellenos to give it a little more flavor. He said the chile was good, both red and green, so the rellenos get a thumbs-up. The sopapillas were great and service excellent, so, for the middle of nowhere, not bad.

I dig this little hole in the wall place as it is just about the closest restaurant to my house in the middle of nowhere! Definitely the place to go for local ranchers wanting a drink. I go here often and have never been dissappointed. I always get the tacos. The ground beef is so tasty and so is the rice. Don't much care for the beans (they are ranch style...blehh not my favorite) and service can be a bit slow if they are busy but overall it's good food, very affordable and people are really nice. Keep up the good work! =)
