I like Robo-taco. The food is cheap and yummy, plus they have a drive-up. The portions are big too.

Camerones Rancheros was muy sabroso. I'll probably go back tomorrow and try something else.

I picked up a pork torta to go on my way out of town. Even though it was early in their day, the restaurant was filled with the smell of great food. This made it all the harder to pick an item to order, but I also sensed that I couldn't go wrong. After getting my torta, I augmented my take away bundle with sauces from the salsa bar and some very tasty pickled vegetables. I finally got to eat my meal after several hours of driving. The bread held up well, the pork was delicious (thinly sliced, wonderfully spiced), the salsas added a great punch and the pickles a great kick. This simple meal was created with great finesse.

Sadly they have closed! They had great carnitas and horchata they will be missed. If Brophy hadn't move they'd still be open. :-)

This is my go to place for lunch while in Socorro. They make their own tortillas which makes a big difference on the taste. Their salsa is also really good. My favorite things to order there are the chile relleno, crispy chicken taco, and California burrito. The owner is super nice and a business I am more than happy to support. This place is defiantly a great alternative than fast food chain restaurants.

This isn't much to choose from in Socorro that isn't chain fast food. Robel Tacos offers a quick, non-chain lunch in a modest exterior. The inside isn't much to look at either. The employees took our order and brought out the food but otherwise weren't especially friendly. I liked the homemade taco shells and free chips but the chicken lacked flavor. I even tried some of the green salsa which was also kind of bland. I'm not a fan of spicy so didn't go that route. For a basic lunch Robel Tacos was just OK but not a place I'd be excited to go back to.

California burrito is really tasty, always hits the spot. Good cheap eats here... kinda seems like a fast food place but it's not quite so fast. Very satisfying meal, though. The machine was having some trouble with my card the other day (not the first time this has happened), so they just went ahead and put scotch tape over the magnetic strip. This actually seems to be an improvement, but it kinda surprised me that they took that liberty with my card. Most people just put a receipt over it or something. Anyway, not a big deal but you can maybe expect something funny like that to happen in this place.

Polo asada combo plate was delicious, as was the carne asada taco ala carte - beans were authentic, could taste the subtlety of bacon fat - wonderful. Old fashioned coke bottle ice cold (a lot of small business' set chill box higher to cut costs - not the case here.). Super clean - super friendly. Only area that prevented a "5" - salsa bar although generous - was a bit generic - BUT DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU from making the stop.

I love this little spot. Great tort as and tacos. And a nice fixings/salsa bar. I had the machaca plate and my dining partner had carne adovada tacos. Both were great. Chile was just spicy enough - didn't need to add salsa, but I did (I like to try it all!). The drinks are great. I had horchata and my friend had the pina. Very refreshing. Wish I could find my photos to show you how good it looks!

Robel Tacos is not much to look at.........a small, colorful, non-assuming building in Socorro, NM. However, the authentic Mexican food is surprisingly good. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. If you like Southwestern or Mexican food this is a great place for a quick lunch or a casual dinner.

The 99 cent burritos are now $1.75. They had to be losing money on them. Still a deal as you can make an entire meal of one burrito, chips and salsa, and spicy pickles for under $2. If you bump your meal to $2.75, get the cheese quesadilla - big and tasty and excellent dipped in their yummy salsa verde.

This review has nothing to do with anything on the menu here. No, this analysis of the best Mexican food restaurant in this town has to do with the restroom. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to smell upon entering a restroom is shit. However, shit was exactly the odor I was hit with when I walked into the men's room. At first I thought someone had just dropped a deuce and forgotten to flush the crapper, which I get happens from time to time, but one peek into the porcelain bowl proved that to be false. It took another two minutes before I finally located the source of the nefarious aroma. In turned out that the trash bin was filled with vomit. And not just any kind of vomit; these were the blown chunks of a college freshman who had drunk no fewer than four cans of PBR and topped it off with a fifth of vodka. Whatever. At that point I was so repulsed by the stench that I decided to just take a piss and get some grub at the Taco Bell across the street instead.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
