Since we were in the area after experiencing a blown tire, we stopped here to get some lunch. I must say, we were really happy with our meal. The ribs were outstanding! The BBQ sauce was delicious and the meat just fell off the bone. I don't really care for corn bread, but I couldn't resist eating all of it. So good! My cousin had the pulled pork sandwich and she really enjoyed it. The waffle fries were really good too. The restaurant was also very clean and our waitress was very nice & attentive.

Food was pretty good. I got the prime rib enchiladas, they forgot to put chili on it. My wife had a dirty glass, it had food or something in it, very gross. My kids loved the chicken strips and children burger. The service was great. I liked how they really tried to fix their mistakes.

Ordered the full rack of baby back ribs and was absolutely delighted! I am a hard judge of bbq and this place happened to be right next to the hotel I was staying at when driving through New Mexico. As you can see from the picture the the ribs were very meaty and delicious, the slaw and sweet potato fries went perfectly with the meal. While the hot sauce provided was good, mixing it with the in house hot bbq sauce made the ribs even better! Meal was excellent, only complaint was that the ribs were slightly over cooked for a steep 27.99. Very family establishment with good service.

I love me some BBQ and finding good BBQ is hard to find in NM well I was glad I came across The Ranch House! This place serves up some killer BBQ along with a mix of your New Mexican favorites. A must have here is definitely the Ribs, Green Chile coleslaw and waffle fries!
(4)Brian R.
Excellent BBQ! The meats are perfect low and slow and the sauce is competition-worthy. A nice plus is that the atmosphere is upscale enough that it's a nicer more intimate experience. Service a little sloppy by normal standards, as they forgot our appetizers and the words "frost free" appear on the chilly hostess, but that's more normal for Santa Fe. They offer take home BBQ sauce for sale but they should bottle the stuff for tourists like us in all of those hotels around them (Lost business) even if they have to offer it online shipped to their door (The bartender mentioned some weird City Different Santa Fe rule about selling BBQ sauce bottled in a restaurant.)

Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised by this place, and I wish I'd discovered it earlier. I'll likely return for a barbecue fix. AMBIENCE I think that I just never paid any attention to Ranch House, since it seemed like it was supposed to be "fancy," which I usually associate with "overpriced," especially in Santa Fe. This wasn't the case, however. While the interior of The Ranch House is nice, and it would be a good location for a nice family dinner/party, it wasn't uncomfortable for a casual girl like me. The building also has a large amount of space, so even though there were a decent number of people at the restaurant, it didn't feel too loud, or too crowded. FOOD We ordered the queso waffle fries with green chile, brisket plate, and pulled pork sandwich. The queso fries were yummy. The queso was made using melted Tillamook cheddar and was flavorful without being too salty. New Mexico green chile was just put on top, but in general, adding green chile to most things just makes them better, and this was no exception. The waffle fries were fried well and crispy, so they hold up to the sauce without getting soggy unless you eat them too slowly! Like the waffle fries, the sweet potato fries that came with the sandwich were also well-fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Both the brisket and pulled pork were tender, moist, and flavorful, although you have to put the barbecue sauce on yourself. The portions, in my opinion, are just right. The barbecue sauce, which comes in mild and spicy (not noticeably spicy to me, but maybe my taste buds have been burnt off since I love spicy food), was good enough, but nothing special. Other sides included baked beans, coleslaw, and cornbread. (Yellow Yukon potato salad is an option, but we didn't try it thus time.) I was surprised that I enjoyed the baked beans, since I don't usually. These, however, were made from dried beans, so they weren't mushy, and the sauce was flavorful, and not too sweet, probably because they were made with house barbecue sauce. The coleslaw was mayonnaise coleslaw, but didn't seem to be oversauced. The cabbage had a good crunch, and there was some apple mixed in, which have the coleslaw a good sweetness and tartness. The cornbread was moist, fluffy and tasty, but on the sweet side with not enough green chile inside it to be very noticeable. PRICES Considering the food's taste and quality, interior, presentation, and good fundamental cooking technique displayed at Ranch House, it's a great value. Our queso chile fry appetizer; brisket plate with cornbread, coleslaw and beans; pulled pork sandwich on brioche topped with coleslaw with a side of sweet potato fries, and a coke cost ~$34. Lunch specials on weekdays are even cheaper, only running about $8-15 each.

Always a great experience. The stuffed potatoes are awesome. The Pork Sliders are a delicious.
(5)Rebecca S.
Nice place, sat at the bar. Food was very good. I had the brisket with beans and the green chili slaw, husband had the pulled pork with beans and potato salad. And it came with cornbread, which was very tasty but cold. Love the slaw! Service was mediocre and slow. Bartender should have a barback.

I have two brothers who live in Austin, Texas. For fun, when my son and I go to visit, we make it a point to visit one Texas barbecue joint each time. We have been to Krautz's in Lockhart, City Market in Lulling, Cooper's in Llano, Franklin's in Austin, and more. Son and I both agree that the brisket at Ranch House in Santa Fe is the best we have ever had ever. We both got the "juicy" cut, which comes from the big, fatty end of the brisket. That part is so tender that it is nearly impossible to slice, so chopped was no surprise. We both got pulled pork which was very good, but we've had better.we also each had a side of sausage, which was very different, but also very good. He got waffle fries which were OK, probably frozen. I got green chile cole slaw which had a bite. It was EXCELLENT! I also had the beans which were merely OK. Canned I suspect. Service was beyond great. Our server was attentive without hovering. Food runners and bussers were staying busy, food was not getting cold in the window. We are from Las Cruces, 5 hours or so from Santa Fe. We come up several times a year. We will absolutely be coming back to Ranch House! Ps. Don't let the location fool you, it is not near the downtown plaza. It is out near Cerrillos Road and I-25 in a newish building. But GO! I forgot to add that we both left stuffed full (both of us are, frankly, obese) for under $40 including tip!

I'll be honest this has to be my most favorite restaurant in Santa Fe! I have eaten here several times and have never encountered bad food or a mishap. The service is always excellent and the food is always pleasing! Our favorite dish is the Ranch House platter, and that can easily feed 3-4 people. The meat is so tasty and tender and the sauce is delicious. Their green chile brisket burrito is also amazing, and for a BBQ place their chile is surprisingly tasty! Their chile cheese waffle fries are to die for! They are honestly the best waffle fries in the world!!!! They are always warm and crispy, never failing to please!!! The green chile corn bread is stellar, and their salads both the green salad and Caesar are very good too! You have to make sure to try the BBQ ranch dressing! Their queso and chips are very tasty too!! Lastly, their raspberry tea is the only red raspberry tea I drink! It is so sweet and flavorful!!!! You have to try this place you won't be disappointed!!!
(5)Michelle G.
This is a terrific restaurant if you are looking for smoky meat and steak! The deco is very warming and a typical Santa Fe style. It was busy when we got seated but the waitstaff handled well. We ordered steak and shrimp combo with side salad, brisket and pulled pork combo with sides of Yukon gold potato salad and flatiron steak with baked potato. They smoke their brisket for 18 hours so it was very moist in my mouth. The flavor of green chile slaw and potato salad were delicious! The cornbread is made with green chile too so it made the food unique. They definitely did a good job to grill the steak and seafood because they were seasoned very well. Unfortunately, they forgot our salad so it came after our entrees. I always want to try their dessert but all end up being full. Overall, I am always satisfied with the food quality here so it is my "Go-To" favorite Santa Fe restaurants.
(4)Yasmaine F.
The salmon was tasty and cooked "medium". It came on a bed of spinach with a squash puree. I loved the whole presentation. It tasted very good. The steak was good. Seems like they skimped on the fries but otherwise it was good. The smoked pineapple drink was strong but good.
(4)Mike M.
Fall off the bone tender ribs with a great smoky flavor and the sauce I could drink by the gallon. I couldn't stop eating the Calabacitas, these are not spicy at all. I ordered some brisket on the side and you get a choice between lean or moist. I ordered the lean which was a bit dry so I would recommend ordering the moist. My wife had the smoked Prime Rib and I thought she was going to try to inhale it, it was so good.
(5)Paul V.
Buffalo burger cooked just right. Coleslaw was unique and really, really good. Whadya want me to say? Dinner was worth the drive from Texas? Ok, it really was.
(5)Lorenzo D.
If it's good barbeque, pulled pork and brisket you're looking for, this is the only destination in Santa Fe! And, there is a much larger menu for everyone. The ambience is casual with a distinct Santa Fe style, and your choice of table or booth for a more intimate setting. A large bar area with flanking tables is a great place to sit with friends, and the drinks are balanced well. All in all, this place is always a great visit!
(5)Jody P.
Good food at a good price. The bbq meats are excellent and the green chile queso waffle fries may be the most decadent non dessert I've ever had! The 2 times I've been there the service was fine to excellent. Great bar tender too!!!
(4)Lynn J.
Second visit and the food was excellent again! Apple and goat cheese salad topped with brisket and pomegranate lemonade to drink! Perfect summer lunch! Friendly attentive service! Sit outside by the fountain and enjoy the beautiful Santa Fe weather!!!
(5)Sandy F.
We loved this place. What a find, drove by around lunch and saw the parking lot filled with cars. Ok, we planned it for dinner. Wonderful server who reviewed the menu with us, we are new residents. She was grand, got us a free dessert as a welcome. Husband has the BBQ platter, all fork tender meats, yummy corn bread. I had salmon tacos which were fresh and tasty. The dessert had to be eaten! Strawberry rubarb crisp hot with ice cream. Made right in the restaurant. So good. We made ourselves save some food for leftovers. Do go hungry.
(5)Lee G.
Very good experience tonight with an excellent meal enjoyed by our party of five. Dan, the man, served us well. Highly recommended!
(5)Robert N.
What great food, had the pulled BBQ pork lunch plate, AWESOME nice tasty corn bread ,waffle fries rocked and the BBQ pulled pork was fabulous. I would recommend and I will be back
(5)Maggie J.
Not your typical hole in the wall BBQ joint. They have a full bar, and I loved the smoked pineapple margarita. The chile queso waffle fries were absolutely amazing. My boyfriend enjoyed the wings too. I had the half rack of red chile glazed ribs, and he had the pork and brisket. The meat was very tender and flavorful and had a well-developed smoke ring. The sauces were delicious, but way too spicy for a girl from the southeast. I recommend the coconut tapioca for dessert.

Side note: This place was formerly owned by Mr Joshua, so I'm told, it was called Joshua's BBQ, he still has his stamp in it; it was AWESOME!!!! #fingerlickinggood Joshua is the bomb diggity!!!! I placed a last minute order, before the restaurant was even opened & HE WAS TOTALLY able to accommodate my party of 20. I placed my order for a Lunch Pak, 5 sides & jalapeño cornbread. There were only a few scraps left, everyone enjoyed it. The hostess, whose name escapes me, that checked me out was quite pleasant & even offered to drive 10miles to bring the left-out eating utensils. We managed to have some at the office so the day was saved. Everyone in the office raved over the pulled pork, brisket, the BBQ Sauce & of course the sides. This was a GREAT CHOICE for the office staff. There were many promises to visit on their own; I know for sure I'll be back.
(5)Laura H.
Had lunch at the Ranch House as I was craving barbecue. Ordered the brisket plate and requested moist brisket. The brisket came out chopped rather than sliced and was dry. It was very bland - seemed almost baked rather than smoked. Maybe I am a bit spoiled by Texas style brisket with its dark flavorful bark and tender meat. I won't order this again. Tasted the pork ribs - they were decent.
(2)Karen S.
Great food, my husband had the brisket Enchiladas and I ate the salmon tacos with green chile coleslaw on them. Even had some nice vegetarian options. Took home mac and cheese ( 5star) and their strawberry rhubarb cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream !!
(4)Denise U.
Driving through Santa Fe and stopped here for dinner. Food was very good. The only reason I deducted a star was the wait staff was a little on the slow side.
(4)Randy M.
Clean and comfortable atmosphere. The Mac and cheese is like no other in a great way! The red chili was sweet like it had barbecue sauce in it. Makes sense since it's a barbecue restaurant. The bartender was very friendly and the owner making rounds to the tables to make sure that the guests were happy with there experience at his restaurant. I would say it's a great place for a relaxing lunch or dinner.
(4)Marqui R.
Very tasty food and the restaurant itself is not too shabby. They have a nice atmosphere going on. I've tried the brisket burritos from here and salmon tacos, both excellent choices. Green chile is awesome too! I do feel like the food is not the most healthy but I guess thats what makes it taste so great. This place would be good for smaller groups. I wanted to hold a rehearsal dinner here for 30 but I was told I had to have a $2k minimum for a friday night yikes! Overall an excellent choice for american/bbq food on the south side of santa fe.
(4)John m.
Wow! I rarely eat somewhere where while I am eating I am thinking to myself that I can't wait to YELP about this and give it 5 stars! The baby back ribs were excellent. Just the right amount of char on them and perfect! The brisket was awesome and the green chili cole slaw was unique and delicious. Really a great find. I can't wait to go back !
(5)Margaret G.
Ordered a lot of barbecue and several sides from the ranch house. Everything was delicious and expertly prepared to take home. My guests immensely enjoyed the barbecue and sides. Great place to get carry out when you don't feel like cooking for a crowd.
(5)Courtney P.
Drove South to try this place, the barbecue was fantastic! We had ribs and they were great!! The bbq sauce was great, as was the sweet jalapeño cornbread! The Bloody Mary was spicy and really good! We're from TX and we were all blown away by this barbecue! Will be back, when there!
(5)Leila Z.
The food is good, but it's way overpriced and they make a lot of mistakes. I ordered a cesar to go and they forgot the cesar. This error is forgivable, frustrating, but forgivable. The only problem is that these types of errors are constant whether dining in or getting an order to go. You will be nickled and dimed, I am surprised they don't charge for tap water. Seriously. Some of the staff is pleasant, but some is not. The only reason why it can continue to make constant errors and have an abysmal staff, at best, is because it is the only bar b que place on the Southside.
(3)Basha T.
My second trip with family and the staff was not attentive this time around so it seems that they are inconsistent with something that I was so jazzed about. We were told by our waiter at the table that the restaurant has a drink maximum of 4. My son got an IPA and a shot. The bartender warned him after the second order that they couldn't serve him anymore. Are you serious? Wow. I'm a 20% tipper but this time around that was very difficult to do. I think whoever owns the place is a grinch too. No signs of Christmas anywhere in the building other than a green wreath with a red bow on it above the bar. And here I thought I had finally found a place in Santa Fe that I could frequent and refer friends to. Not surprising. Santa Fe is a disappointing town.
(2)Bob D.
Yelp reviewers Thank You!! We're on the road and completely rely on Yelp to help us find another great restaurant!!. The Ranch has truly excellent food. I had the half chicken and added two baby-back ribs since everyone said they were good....my wife had the apple and goat cheese salad with chicken.....we shared my cornbread....and everything was outstanding....first time I have ever had the green-chile cole slaw....and now I'm completely hooked....the meats were cooked perfectly....presentation was good...and quality was about the best I have ever had in this price range. The funny thing...to me....is the Outback restaurant across the street.....I cannot imagine how it stays in business with the Ranch right next door. We will always stop here when we are in Santa Fe.

I wanted to try Santa Fe BBQ and, as always, loaded up yelp to see my options. My vegan gf, of course, was opposed so I packed the kindle I bought her for Xmas, some money, and carefully deposited her at the nearest vegan diner so she can enjoy her roots in peace. Drove 30 minutes in traffic and sat down at the bar. I ordered the half rack lunch special from the attentive and friendly waitress and in time appropriate to cook, dress and sauce a plate of this caliber, my food arrived. Banging. Just straight up amazing, slow cooked, pink meat, tender, juicy goodness. I ordered another rack for the road and tipped the waitress well. Conclusion : The Ranch House is THE spot for BBQ in Santa Fe, hands down. Oh, and it's the nicest decorated BBQ spot I've ever been too. The nicest one that has real slow cooked gear like this!
(5)PJ U.
I really want to love this place - the building is beautiful, staff very attentive and friendly but the food is just ok. I've only been a couple of times and each time the food has not wowed me. The ribs have very good flavor but they were overcooked/dry. The prime rib tacos tasted like the prime rib had been leftover and reheated. My margarita was about 1/4 cup and the rest ice. I may come back to give the ribs another shot but it will be a while.
(3)J S.
This place nailed bbq. The sauce was delicious and I would have brought some home on the airplane if I had a suitable container. If I am ever back in Santa Fe, I will be back at the The Ranch House.
(5)Nicole M.
The first time I tried this place, I got the pulled pork.... It was mushy like baby food and gross. The second time I got the ribs, and they were awesome. I highly recommend them.
(4)Marian O.
My husband and I dine at the Ranch House at least twice a month, sometimes more. The restaurant welcomes with a cozy atmosphere that immediately translates into attentive service (we always try to find a table where Dan serves, since he is a true professional), and the inevitably delicious food to follow. While my husband always goes for any of the meat selections, which burst with flavor and tender juiciness, I am crazy for their salmon tacos. They are plump with fresh salmon stuffing and flavor. Recently I thought I try the mac and cheese. I was pleased as could be with the perfect tang of cheeses in a moist medium. Surprise of all, though, was our recent taste of the creme brûlée, which is my favorite dessert and which I am impossibly critical of if it is not perfect. When I asked what our waiter thought of the creme brûlée he said "It's the best in Santa Fe." Well, with that, how could we not try some? The waiter's comment was no exaggeration. The creme brûlée is exquisite. The Ranch House is our first-to-go-to restaurant in the city.
(5)Lyric K.
Ribs done very well, falling off the bone and they serve the sauce on the SIDE! The rub they do use on them is all I needed. The slaw was done extremely well - seems house made. The rest of the sides, pretty typical, fries, cornbread. . .nothing special. The bar those makes a mean Moscow Mule - I recommend!
(4)Kaylynn J.
First, The food was great we shared the brisket plate with a side salad and waffle fries. I wanted the moist but the waiteress didn't offer it when we ordered. She was not friendly nor got us refills. We saw her three times, once to take our drink and food order, again to bring our food and though she passed by us and our empty water glasses, we didn't see her until she brought the check and took our plates. Overall the service was kind of crappy but the food was worth it and I do plan on going back for the brisket moist.
(3)Angelica G.
Most amazing food my only complain is we had to ask for silverware. Besides that amazing!!
(4)Michael P.
Outstanding BBQ Brisket and Pulled Pork. I had the combo with brisket and pork and it came with three luscious side items: BBQ beans with shredded meat, cole slaw, and potato salad. Loved the mild BBQ sauce but loved the hot/spicy BBQ sauce even more. Cornbread was very good. Pulled pork sandwich came on a bun with Coles slaw on top of the pulled pork and we opted for a side of BBQ beans. All in all, a delicious meal. WE WILL BE BACK before we go back to San Antonio, Texas. "Man, it was delicious".
(5)Chris M.
Ate there Sunday afternoon and the food was excellent. Had the pork and brisket combo and it was delicious. Service was fantastic, very attentive. Weird to say but the tea was some of the best I had as well. I didn't have dessert but they all looked fabulous. I really want to try them out next time.
(5)Joe G.
We went here for dinner tonight and the service was horrible. The waiter couldn't answer any questions and even as we were placing our order we knew it would be wrong and it was because he was distracted, didn't ask about which meal options we wanted we had to call him back and tell him. . One dish we sent back and said to remake it instead all of the sandwich filling was just scraped off the wrong dish and placed on the right one. I ordered a steak and it was $22 but it was a quality I would expect at Sizzler. The only good items we tried was the corn bread and I got the two ribs added to try and they were excellent. Wish I had ordered them. We've spent four days in Santa Fe and have marveled at the quality of food and the excellent service and unfortunately for our final dinner we had this experience. Sorry guys not good enough. Do better.
(1)Ryan G.
Was in town briefly, and stopped in here after a 12 hour drive. Had a burger that was cooked well with some great flavors infused. From what I tried of the bbq (pulled pork and brisket) it was tasty, but needed the sauce or else it was a bit on the dry side.
(4)Michael J.
On our recent trip to Santa Fe, we just HAD to get out of Old Town and see what and where real New Mexicans ate. We chose The Ranch House, which was about 4.5 miles out of the alter kaker tourist ghetto of Santa Fe. Our waitress, Melissa, was both charming and efficient. I ordered a half slab of delicious pork ribs that was more than enough to share with Abbe, who chose the grilled salmon. When Abbe asked Melissa about the fantastic puréed butternut squash, she said she'd ask the chef for the recipe. And then, to our surprise, the head chef Alex appeared, and revealed secret (add some potatoes & honey). We had a delightful chat about food and Santa Fe, and he comped us on 2 fantastic deserts. It was a charming, satisfying experience, and we highly recommend this place for those who want to have a non-fussy yet upscale dining experience in Santa Fe.
(5)Yang Y.
Was on my way from Santa Fe to ABQ. Found this place on Yelp. Nice BBQ house! I tried BBQ ribs and it's tasty! Chili source was unique!
(4)Patti K.
Slaw was delicious, corn bread was great. Nice atmosphere, good service. We would go back and eat there again.
(4)J M.
Really great food. My favorites are half chicken plate with their cole slaw and potato salad. Sweet potato fries are good. Also love the veggie sandwich with grilled chicken added, gluten free bread, though I bet the bread it comes with normally is great. My guy loves the beef brisket burrito and the prime rib sandwich. Nice service and ambiance. Good prices and portions too. High quality ingredients.

(this review appears in an abbreviated form in Santa Fe Reporter's 2012-2013 Restaurant Guide) For the barbecue savvy, the Southwest can be tough, as it lacks its own distinctive style of the illustrious smoked meat process. However, the Ranch House (a revamped and scaled-up expansion of local favorite Josh's Barbecue) is seeking to change that by creating a new and distinctive variety of 'cue--New Mexican Style. And yes, that occasionally means putting green chile on things, but don't let that deter you--The Ranch House may have the best barbecue in the state, let alone Santa Fe. The entire restaurant smells like their smoker (a good sign for BBQ fans), which is both a blessing and a curse if you go in hungry. And please, do go in hungry, because for the price, their portions are gigantic. It's hard to find a dish that isn't served with their delicious green chile cornbread, a side of beans, or their seemingly perfect french fries. Their standard barbecue fare is absolutely stunning. The menu is filled with perfectly smoked pulled pork, brisket, and other tantalizing meats. The standout among this pantheon of slow-cooked excellence is the Baby Back Ribs, however. Glazed with a red chile honey sauce, these things fall of the bone and right into your eager stomach. The glaze is unique, delicious, and as close to perfect as one can expect--sweet, hot and smokey in all of the right places. Another standout is the Green Chile Brisket Burrito, which is filled to the brim with beautifully-smoked brisket, topped with green chile sauce and cheese, and served with some of The Ranch House's commendably tasty barbecue sauce. Their selection of burgers and sandwiches is lovely, as well. The Huevo Burger in particular is a revelation. If a gigantic hamburger isn't decadent enough for you, try adding a perfectly-fried egg to the top of one. You won't be sorry.
(5)Robert T.
Reading the reviews for this restaurant, I thought it would be pretty good. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I got take-out so I cannot comment on service, but food quality was just mediocre at best. Green chile slaw had very little flavor. Ranch beans were not fully cooked. The pulled pork was just ok. The "hot" BBQ sauce was anything but. Overall, maybe a decent place for the area and they could have just had an off night, but I would skip it based on today's meal.
(2)Danielle M.
My husband and I finally made it to The Ranch House for a date night dinner. It smelled sooo good when we walked in, I was immediately hungry. That delicious smell was the house smoked prime rib special of the evening. I do the "meat and potatoes" thing very rarely so I was in heaven that it lived up to my expectations. It's good to note that they only do the prime rib special on Friday and Saturday nights and I have heard rumors that they can sell out. The cocktails and the ambiance were fine but the service and the food were great! I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it out.
(4)Timo A.
Food was great and the BBQ sauce was awesome. I recommend this location if you are Hungary for ribs!!! Hooah
(4)Clare M.
If you come here for lunch make sure you are armed with an appetite and don't have any plans for the evening because the portions are huge and the food is coma inducing. A bit out of the way for me, but when I'm on that side of town and need a good slab of meat...this is the place.
(4)S B.
I ordered takeout BBQ for 8 people on New Year's Eve. They were very crowded, but the service staff were polite and efficient. The food was delicious, in particular the ranch house salad, the brisket, and the ribs.
(4)Kathi B.
Beautiful restaurant with fabulous service! We had a group of 9 at lunch and the waiter was attentive and on the spot. We ordered everything from Bbq to salmon Tacos and everyone was pleased with their meal. Highlights included the green Chile cole slaw, the butternut squash soup, the Buffalo burger and the Red Chile honey bbq sauce. We had the peanut butter chocolate mousse which was heavenly! Waiter was awesome and patient with all the kids. Place was packed... And I can now see why!
(4)Cathy F.
Food great ! Service not so great , so only 3 stars . Had the pork belly tacos. A must try! My husband had the SPICEY pork pizza. Wood oven baked. One of the best pizzas I have had in Santa Fe.
(3)Angie C.
A few friends had recommended this place...I was hesitant. Boy oh boy..was I missing out!! My kids had the Smokey burger, they were delighted. I was in heaven with my brisket and pork combo plate. The prices are reasonable as well..I will definitely be back! Simply delicious!
(5)steve d.
The moist brisket is very tasty, the cuts vary. The brisket burrito on the dinner menu is also substantive with plentiful brisket and mild ( too mild for me) green chile topping. The salmon is always cooked to perfection with skill most Santa Fe Restaurants have not mastered....The lean brisket can be a bit dry as well as the half chicken.....service is friendly and attentive....nice atmosphere....I don't particularly like the pulled pork but that is because I prefer Southern BBQ to Texas....should mention the ribs can really vary: sometimes perfect, sometimes not too fatty, sometimes overcooked, sometimes small portions, sometimes way too fatty....I don't order them any more... The calabicitas is always good as well as the hamburgers....which they get the cooking temp right most of the time....the nachos have too much cheese whiz or something like that, you know the stuff they serve at ball parks....never tried the deserts..For pulled pork I prefer Whole Hog across from Cow Girls.....
(3)Laura S.
This was an excellent choice for dinner on our part. The brisket and baby back ribs were to die for, tender and seasoned perfectly. I can't say enough about the sides. We had the coleslaw, beans and potato salads. I must say they were the best sides I've eaten other then home made. We were greeted by friendly staff and our server was great. We had no wait time being seated or served. It was the perfect end to a day of travel. Five times two on the stars.
(5)Emily C.
I went here will in Santa Fe on business to try something other than New Mexican cuisine. They claim they are known for their barbecue. The food was fine. Nothing super special. The waiter brought me a 1/4 lb of brisket when I definitely ordered a 1/4 lb of pulled pork. The mac and cheese was good but not as amazing as it sounded. I kind of wish I'd ordered something else. However, the green chile queso was amazing. I wouldn't say this is a bad place but I've had way better barbecue. The interior is nice. It's just not stand out.

Read the reviews and was looking forward to the "best" BBQ in Santa Fe! Very disappointed! Pieces of tin foil in the brisket. Ribs were small with not much flavor. Small portions at high prices. Wait staff were very impersonal. Didn't introduce herself nor did she ask how the food was. We were much more satisfied with Whole Hog.

So disappointed in Ranch House today. The main reason we've been going there lately is to get the great flat bread pizza, so awesome. Yet its no longer on the menu due broken oven that won't be replaced. Plus my service was very slow and impersonal this visit. Right there we decided we wouldn't be spending our money there anymore.

The food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. I believe it is the best BBQ/ steak joint in Santa Fe, I had avoided this place for two years because I was told the prices are high for the same food offered at Josh's, and I will say this is totally not true because the food is totally amazing and more upscale then Josh's. I recommend the green chili brisket sandwich or burrito you cannot go wrong with either one. Also the chicken wings are amazing and quite large. I also recommend the drinks all of them are great!

Wandered into The Ranch House day before yesterday to try lunch. Haven't eaten here in a while just because I had the impression that they were primarily a BBQ place. While that's one of their specialties, its obviously not the only thing at which they excel. I tried the salmon as recommended by my waiter. OMG. I don't use that phrase much, but OMG. It was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious, sitting on butternut squash puree (that alone was enough for me) and spinach sauteed with something amazing. Soooo. That meal was so good that I took a couple of friends from out of town there for lunch yesterday. My guests were burly guys, so we tried the queso waffle fries as an appetizer. The guys insisted on adding the green chile brisket, and then we fought over every bite. I'm going back sometime soon and having that by myself. I ordered the 6 oz ribeye for lunch, but asked the waiter if I could have it tampequeno style (covered with green chile and cheese). The steak was perfectly cooked and tender, the calabacitas were just this side of very fresh and the refried beans were really refried beans as far as I could tell. Not from a can, in other words. One of the guys had the pulled pork tacos with green chile slaw. Great concept and really good. So good that halfway through, we exchanged plates so we could taste everything. The other guy also ordered the ribeye and said he appreciated that it wasn't drenched in some sort of sauce or spices that kept you from tasting the beef. And then, of course, because we were so sold on the food, we had to share dessert, which was the warm apple crisp topped with ice cream. Granny Smith apples just slightly crisp and not too sweet. Really good. So although I live near downtown and frequent places that are more traditionally Santa Fe, I'll be back. The green chile on both the appetizer and my steak was just right - great flavor and the right amount of heat. Lunch for three of us with an appetizer and dessert was right at $54. Very well priced for Santa Fe.

We are from Texas, and have been in Santa Fe three days, my husband was in the mood for some good BBQ, boy did we hit the jackpot with The Ranch House. The food was outstanding the BBQ was smoked to perfection, the atmosphere , the owners and wait staff were very nice, and the deserts are to die for. We are going to try and come back one more time before we leave town, I want to try the Salmon. Thanks guys for a great meal!

Wished reviews had mentioned that the restaurant is in a mall parking lot. We grabbed a booth in the bar, where we had an unobstructed view of the stacks of boxed wine. Our waiter fun, friendly and accommodating, though no foodie. Shared a huge, serviceable half-slab of baby back ribs upon his insistence, slathering it in the so-called HOT and DIABLO barbecue sauces he delivered in hushed, reverential tones (but which wouldn't rate medium-hot in our books!). No discernible green chile in the chile slaw or chile cornbread; no discernible pineapple in the smoked pineapple margarita. Best were the unique smoked chicken wings and sweet potato fries. So a star for service and a star for crispy, smoky chicken wings.

Ambiance is great. Wait staff are friendly. Food is good but not quite great. Disappointed they only had one BBQ rib choice on the menu. I would like to see more options. The Buffalo burger I had was pretty good and well worth the money. A good place to try.

Very affordable for Santa Fe, great service and a nice atmosphere. My husband had the half smoked chicken and it was FANTASTIC!! I had the smoked turkey special only served on Tuesdays and it was dry as a bone--hard to choke down without drinking a gulp of beer after each bite. I specifically asked if it was dry because it's breast meat and that tends to be dry, especially smoking it without dark meat. Two waitresses assured me it was moist. I should have turned it back but I felt bad about it. I would recommend the chicken 100%--the best I've ever tasted.

The pulled pork sandwich with green chile slaw is AMAZING!!! If you are in Santa Fe eat here for sure.
(5)Kema C.
My husband & I tried this restaurant today. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork sandwich tasted delicious! The Ranch House BBQ is also delicious (if you like sweet tangy BBQ sauce). The best part of the meal was the cornbread. OMgoodness the cornbread is too die for! The only thing my husband & I really didn't care were the baked beans. We also received a complimentary free desert for being "1st time visitors". I thought that was quite nice of them. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding (tasted good) as well. =) Will/Would visit again!
(4)Jesse C.
Good service. The pulled pork was tender and smokey. The chicken and brisket were also nicely done. Good food at a fair price.

One word describes The Ranch House, awesome. From the hostess that greeted us to Melissa our waitress and most assuredly to Alex the chef. The food (l could make a meal out of the green chili slaw) is excellent. The atmosphere is like " everybody knows your name" even if it's your first time there. When you are in SantaFe, go here. You will not be disappointed. Save room for the creme brulee. Best ever.

We went out to eat with another couple here. I imagined it was a steakhouse, but surprised when I found out it was BBQ. My husband is from the South and I from the Midwest, so we can be pretty critical when it comes to BBQ. I am giving The Ranch House 5 stars because the ribs were phenomenal. They were so delicious that we drove by on the way home for more ribs for takeout the next day. Mmmmm!!
(5)Ryan M.
Really excellent green chile enchiladas. About the right price for what you get. Service was a tad on the slow side, but polite and quick with drink refills.

We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday because she wanted baby back ribs. The food was delicious and our server, Ever, was very helpful and sweet. He went out of his way to make my daughter feel special, and she especially loved the candle in the mousse. I recommend The Ranch House for any or no occasion. Great food & great service.
(4)Logan A.
Some of the best BBQ on the planet! Accommodate gluten free! Relaxed setting, solid service, one of my go to spots when visiting Santa Fe, though would say Whole Hog is better on the food front, excluding the brisket, where Ranch House rules supreme.

OK, I'm impressed. I was a huge fan of Josh's Barbecue, so when I learned that they were closing I pretty much was about to write a eulogy for that business... I had heard rumors that another restaurant was in the works, but was also told that there would be a some menu changes... Bummer. So the reopening happened, and I missed it, but then again from my experience it usually takes any restaurant revamp some time to work out the quirks, so I waited until tonight to test it out. TOTAL SUCCESS. Incredible smoked chicken wings, possibly the best in town. The queso potatoes from the old Josh's have been switched with tater tots, so they aren't as dense, and with the added briscuit, was heavenly. The red chile cheese enchilada was excellent, ten times better than Tomasitas, and at least a tier higher than most of the other restaurants in town. My steak was cooked to order, and dare I say it, to perfection. And the briscuit was wonderful, just like Josh's was... Did I mention that there's a full bar at this location? Frankly, I'll come here over the Blue Corn Cafe anytime. Oh yes, and the dessert selection was amazing looking, but I was too stuffed to partake... NEXT TIME! I heard that in the summer there will be two outside enclosed open patios... Maybe we can get some decent live music as well in this culturally deprived town that is missing live and touring bands?
(5)Randy P.
Hands down the BEST wings I have had anywhere in the USA! Service and food excellent, so glad to be here 2 nights so I can enjoy it again. Lu Lu was an amazing server!
(5)Rada Y.
Had the barbeque chicken sandwich & it was excellent! The calabacitas was the best I've ever had. The staff was friendly & helpful. All around, I'd highly recommend this place.
(5)Dennis M.
The food is great and the new building is put together well. Full bar and good drafts are a deal maker. The BBQ menu is concise; too concise. I miss the freedom of Josh's menu. Can I get some smoked sausage please?! On the plus, that Corey kid rocks it. Great spot, but they tried to church the menu up too much. IT'S BBQ! I want paper towels!!

I was excited to try this place. My husband and I went for our 23rd anniversary tonight. I read the reviews but felt, after reading not so good ones, I wanted to see for myself. First, our server, SO great! He was attentive without being annoying. Something we could have done without was the "mood" music. When it got crowded my husband had a hard time hearing me. Dinner time is not a time when music should be playing in my opinion. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork combo. The pulled pork was pretty good but brisket was way too dry. I had the mild BBQ sauce to put on it which was really good but still couldn't get past the dryness. My husband had the platter w/pork, brisket, sausage and ribs. He really only liked the ribs. I had a bite and thought they were delicious too. All in all, ribs got a yes. Everything else aside from the cornbread, meh. Maybe my expectations were too high for this place. I was hoping to take my family when they come to town but feel I'd need to say stick with the ribs.

This place is a little out of the way but worth the drive for a tourist. Get the green chile queso and chips to start. Really good! The baby back ribs were solid and the brisket was solid as well with a solid smoke flavor but not overpowering. The pulled pork was delicious too. The sides were good with the cole slaw and the beans being stand-outs. The best was the green chile cornbread. Delicious. The sauce was good but the diablo sauce wasn't that hot. The one thing I noticed about Santa Fe was that the heat in their chile dishes is more balanced with not much pain. I was looking for a little pain in the hot sauce though. Try the margaritas here, especially the pineapple margarita. Different but delicious. The location isn't great but the building is nice. Just a tad on the fancy side for a BBQ joint but the locals sure packed it in.
(4)Steve A.
Good ribs. The sides of slaw and P salad were better than most. Prices were good. Would return if i was a local.
(3)Jeremy C.
Stopped in with the family after a hike at Tent Rock Nat'l Park. We were looking for something decent without having to pay the price for downtown dining. I had the bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce and green chilies that was absolutely delectable. My wife's salad with chicken and BBQ ranch dressing was huge and very tasty. If you're looking for a place for a quick reasonably priced lunch this is a hit.
(3)Paul S.
Not sure what all the complaining is about here. The food was incredible, best BBQ we have had, bar none. The service (thank you Sarah!) was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was vibrant and fun. Plus they have some wonderful top shelf margaritas! Maybe their competition is having fits since the rest of the BBQ in town ain't so good... Thanks Josh!
(5)Eric D.
Had the brisket and ribs. Very tasty!! If you like BBQ, then this place is for you. The cornbread that comes with the meal was excellent. I could have made a meal just out of that.
(4)Dominic S.
First time and have to say I was impressed with the food, service, and speed of our order. The ribs were smoked with a rich flavor and the sauce was a mix of tangy and spicy. Overall a nice selection of food and good service
(5)Richard C.
Great place to eat! Food is excellent. Well trained staff. Will make it a point to come here each time I'm in SF.
(5)Kathy B.
We have now gone to the Ranch House twice and both times the food has been delicious. Both the green chili brisket and the pulled pork were tender and flavorful. Thursday is $4.00 margaritas too, so that is an added bonus. This is definitely going to be one of our go to places to eat when we are in Santa Fe, NM.
(5)Ben S.
A definite step up from its previous incarnation as Josh's Barbecue. Ribs seem better prepared, and lots of other good options on the menu. Nice decor and ambience in a new building, reasonable prices. The best restaurant option on this end of Cerrillos Road, convenient to I-25 if you're just passing through.
(4)Mariclaire R.
I went here for lunch and it was excellent all around! The food was perfect and I had amazing service. I ordered the brisket lunch special and it came with two sides. The cornbread was so moist and tasty. I would definitely come here again!
(5)Adam Issac W.
Sadly, the management and servers don't care about service anymore. The last two times we have been here, the manager and servers are all laughing and joking at the bar. They were so loud I could not hear my dinner companion.
(2)T J.
The food is on their game; still working the kinks out of the service . We ordered the baby backs (no spareribs?) & they were slow cooked through and through through. Beans n saw were on.
(5)Carl P.
this place has quickly become one of my favorite's in Santa Fe. far superior to the likes of Blue Corn, the food here is one of those rare experiences where the quality exceeds the cost. i think you get far more flavor than what you pay for, especially compared to other places in SF let alone NM. some of my frequently ordered delights here include the steak and enchilada with some of their damned delicious red chile. their specials, such as the pork belly tacos, are phenomenal. the wings kick ass - they're crispy on the outside but not dried out on the inside...the best in town and far better than any "wings" place in Abq. finally, the tots have always been awesome: solo, with cheese or even better, with green chile brisket. i'm long overdue for another visit...
(5)Jonathan L.
Fantastic ribs, beans, slaw, and cornbread. Good beer selection. Friendly bartenders.
(5)Ralph D.
Very good salsa. Chips ok. Excellent BBQ chicken. Slaw delicious. Beans were cold and lacked taste. Music a bit loud on the patio.
(3)Davina D.
what a sloppy mess on our table, with one of my party spilling her margarita all over a scrumptious cheesy mac and cheese and its liquor slithering across the table cloth onto my phone and lap. but did i care?? NO! cuz um hello, AMAZING BBQ IN SANTA FE ASTONISHES ME (i'm a NYC Gal) but HELL, it was delicious! RIBS, PULLED PORK. (not a fan of chicken in BBQ joints but even that was juicy). Anyways, nothing better than spilt liquor onto pants and phone, liquor soaking into your skin and pores makes you feel tipsy ,ain't it? and leaving with the scent of bbq lingering on your hands. whattttttttttt. love this place esp since the spankin new decor and staff service don't meet that of a typical BBQ joint. classy and messy, lovely combo.

My first time at the Ranch House and I was very pleased with my meal! I also enjoyed the atmosphere and received great customer service. I will definitely return!
(5)Linda M.
Very nice addition to the Santa Fe dining scene from the drinks and appetizers to the dinner. So rare that we get a good restraunt with a full bar.We enjoyed the apple cider vinegarette on the salad. steak cooked perfectly, tender barbeque ribs and my tator tots were warm and crispy too full for desert maybe next time.
(5)Briana B.
Great food!! My mom and I agreed the steaks were good. My dad and brother cleaned their rib plates. Tater tots were hot and crispy and they come out in these cute little fryer baskets. The green chili cornbread was awesome, as was the coleslaw, which also had a tiny hint of green chili. The best part was dessert though. Shared the citrus semifreddo, but I could have eaten three of them myself!!!
(5)Maritza K.
Yikes got back an hour ago, and BOTH my husband and I are sick, yep big time stomach problems, I am guessing it was the mashed potatoes (the only thing we both had) which by the way were cold when they got to our table. Steak was normal, had better at home, also lukewarm, husband's chicken with mole was tasty. Don't think I will be back to eat, perhaps drinks...
(1)Michael B.
This place has definitely headed south over the last couple of years. We really used to love the food. Not sure what happened
(2)Karen A.
Love the Ranch House!!! Great Ribs, great sauce , appetizers. Chicken is a bit dry occasionally. Still give it a 5!
(5)Cee L.
This place is good, but better because they took us with 5 minutes left till closing, catered to our picky food needs, and still delivered great service. Staff was first class and polite from the host to server to any other employee that walked by. The food was loaded with flavor.
(5)Audrey A.
Tried this place a couple of weeks ago and I, too, was impressed! We ate at the bar because the noise level in the dining room (main one?) was really loud. On the positive side, they drew a big crowd for a Sunday night, but it was hard to have a conversation. The bar is VERY nice, perfect atmosphere, full menu; excellent service and friendly conversation with both bartenders present. I did not think the menu overpriced, the food was delicious, the rib plate incredibly generous. Great drink specials on a Sunday night, I felt there was definitely value for the $. (I am also a Whole Hog fan, but haven't been to their new location because who wants to try and park downtown for BBQ??) I would strongly recommend this place. Also looking forward to using their patio (soon!?)
(4)Ken C.
Shared the full rack with my wife. We had to bring some home. The food was good, but I thought that it could have been hotter. The corn bread was cold, the meat was tasty, but needed to be warmed up. We didn't care for the cole slaw, and we weren't crazy about the 3 sauces. I'm glad that we went to try it out.
(3)S K.
I was at Ranch House tonight and found it good. I had read the few reviews here and was not impressed --- went with a skeptical attitude. The ribs were great and I did not find them dry. Tater tots were crisp rather than greasy. Caesar salad was up to par. Missed an anchovy or two but can live without them. The green chill coleslaw was excellent and I'd love the recipe. My one big disappointment was the touted green chili cornbread. This I had looked forward to since someone told me about the menu. Mine did not have one speck of green chili in it so I was quite disappointed. Overall, it was far more pleasant than I had expected. Nice Sunday dinner.
(4)Alexei K.
We used to be fans of Josh's BBQ and had a very disappointing experience at the Ranch House. It was supposed to be just a new location and the new name, but many things have changed and not for the best. To name a few: the water tastes like chlorine, the BBQ my wife ordered was cut instead of pulled with substantial amount of fat, the prices went up by about 20%, the menu changed - they are trying to be more like a fancy restaurant instead of the quality BBQ place it used to be. If you want good BBQ, skip The Ranch House and head for Whole Hog Cafe, that recently moved downtown, but maintain the quality of their food.
(1)Richard B.
Nice new place, easy to get to and the parking lot was great (unlike many Santa Fe places). Separate bar area that looked good but we didn't try it. Servers were extremely good and frequently checked in. Despite lots of people it was easy to talk and hear people across the table. Had the BBQ ribs - good flavor, especially with the separate bbq sauce. Liked the tater tots in a little basket and the beans were excellent. Definitely will go back. Apparently you can't make reservations unless more than 6.
