This place shakes it up! All seating is outside...so it could be brutal during the windy weather months and they need to provide a bit more shade. I had the double pattie green chili cheeseburgers with a chocolate shake. It's a good burger and easy to put down because they are not that big. The shakes are perfect, I almost ordered another one. The service I must say can be much more friendly, but they were pushing out the orders so I fully understand. My brother ordered the shake caesar salad, its basically a 4 dollar cup of lettuce with caesar dressing at the bottom (probably stay away from that one)

Wow! You order at the window and there's a lot of picnic tables and shade which is perfect. The green chile is a must, you are in New Mexico after all. Not too messy ( I didn't get guacamole tho, getting gauc would make it better but messier) I also got a vanilla milkshake - very thick! It is now on our list to go to every time we are in Santa Fe. Oh and the fries! They were super thin and crispy. Yum :)

Jamming to Smokey Robinson while I wait for my green chile cheeseburger, the smells that come out of the kitchen keep you salivating while you groove. Ps) the shakes are still the main contributing factor to my smile lines...soooooo yummy and thick! And one more thing, if you complain about the size of the burgers, you have no soul! They are the most delicious. Who wants a huge burger the size of your face if it tastes bad?

I get annoyed by staff that dont take it serious. The service is lacking. Gave me two cups for the shake one inside the other, sandwiched between both was a mess of shake. You made a mess so I get this surprise so I can get shake all over myself possibly. They gave a tiny puff of whip cream as if to say you suck. Burger greasy needed salt but ok. Annoyed by their attitude and wont plan to come back. Also my chocolate shake had chips in it which was not ordered.

Great meal here, albeit at a price: (2) great double-cheeseburgers, blueberry Taos Cow shake, Stumptown Cold-brew coffee + a green-chile stew. Total: 27.30$. Coffee was phenomenal. Taos Cow shake is more of a DQ Blizzard than anything else. Green chile stew seems over-salted like nearly every restaurant/cafe "stew". In the future I'll do just the (2) double burgers + a shake. I'll accept the 18$ opportunity cost. That's a small price to pay for happiness. Cutting out the extras makes Shake F more reasonable. This place closes early which is annoying and goofy, typical of NM where nothing adheres to national standards. Oregon's Little Big Burger is open to 10 PM, NY-based Shake Shack is open till MIDNIGHT in some locations.

I finally checked this place out after hearing so much talk about it. I ordered the single green chile cheeseburger, the single shoestring fries, and a shake. $15 and change for all that. I was prepared for the cost and was hoping the food would be worth it. Instead, the fries were so thinly cut that cooking them turned them into crunchy shaved potato chips. I'm not really into shoestring fries but there were no other side items to order. The burger was TINY. I do not mean small, I mean White Castle-sized burger. And for $4 I expected something that at least looked pleasing. The taste was average, neither bad nor great. The only part of the meal I enjoyed was the shake. Since it comes from Taos Cow ice cream it would have been hard to mess that up. Immediately afterwards I drove down the street to the McDonald's on the corner and ordered the green chile cheeseburger off their dollar menu and small fries. Guess what? For only $3.23 you get the same amount of food, much better tasting fries and a burger that is on par with the Shake Foundation. McD's buns aren't so great but the patty with the green chile was the same. So save yourself the grief of being ripped off and head elsewhere for a much better burger (no, not McD's). There are plenty of places around Santa Fe that do it right. Shake Foundation is not one of them.

If you're still wondering whether to hit up the Foundation, clearly you missed the NYTimes piece lauding it. The NYTimes doesn't tell lies. OK, they maybe sometimes do, but not this time, friends. Not this time. The Foundation delivers. And if you're not into it? No worries! Take your bad vibes elsewhere! The Foundation gets plenty of business from people who love it with all of their hearts. Went here on my vacation here and fell in love! It's kind of expensive, but when you're ordering a lavender shake, a double green chile burger, and fries, it's worth it! Definitely check this place out!

I don't get it. Maybe I need to get a double next time or milk shake but it was okay. I had one green chile cheese burger and a side of fries that left me yearning for Lotaburger. I mean it wasn't bad by any means but the burger was tiny and the fries were more like potato chips. Okay the burger was good but I just don't get it.

Best fries I think I've ever had. Like each one is the really crispy one I pick out of the bottom of the basket! Green chile bacon cheeseburger was juicy and good! Going back for ice cream!

After my birthday meal at Santa Fe Bite, I figured that I would sample another green chile cheeseburger. When am I going to be in Santa Fe again? Who knows! Might as well hit up another burger. I decided to come down here and try their version out. This place is incredibly similar to Shake Shack back East. Same simple kind of menu, and the same vibe. If it could be close to as good as their burgers, I would be happy I placed my order for a Double Foundation Burger. My total was just over $7.00. I grabbed my buzzer and took a seat on a picnic bench. My order was up and here is how it was........ Double Foundation Burger- This burger was a simple and straight forward burger. It had 2 patties of beef, melted jack cheese and green chiles. The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped this thing from the wax paper was the nice sheen on the bun! This burger looked delicious. It was a semi small sized burger. You could see the melty cheese, the green chiles, and the juicy grilled meat. All of this was placed between a soft potato style bun. I took a bite and was semi impressed. The cheese was nice and melty, the green chiles were hot, and the beef was decent. The beef reminded me of Smashburger (I'm not a big fan of Smashburger). It was a bit oily? A tad too greasy and not "beefy" enough. This burger was also piping hot. Almost too hot to eat! It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't amazing. Service was friendly from both the lady who took my order as well as from the guy who handed me my order. Not sure when I will be in Santa Fe again, so the likelihood of coming back is slim to none. I really liked the cheese and chiles but the meat was just o.k.

Sorry, only 1 star. Sadly, what many of reviewers have said is true about the dead-fish enthusiasm from customer service. I'm sure it would be a great job if they didn't have to deal with the danged customers. It could be a great burger joint-it has all the necessary requirements-yet it falls flat. Customer service aside, the burgers are just...bland. Meat tastes like it was boiled. Shoestring fries, while novel (and a knockoff of Steak-n-Shake), are good for about 3 bites before they get lousy. The Taos Cow shakes are a joke. For 6 bucks you get a 6 ounce shake. That's a small cup. Yeah it's "organic" but c'mon. I can buy a gallon of organic milk and 2 pints of organic ice cream for 6 bucks and make shakes for the entire family...big shakes. And I won't have to give them to customers in a plastic cup inside of another plastic cup (what's up with that, anyway?). Hey, Baskin-Robbins is right down the street and they don't even use "shake" in their branding. I like the idea of locally sourcing ingredients, and I don't mind paying extra for it; I just want more for my money, the quality implied, and a cheerful person taking my order. Not too much to ask.

Some things are perfect in their simplicity. That describes the Shake Foundation. Get the green chile cheeseburger, and no, don't get any other toppings - that way you can savor the perfect blend of meat, chese and heat. The fries are hand cut, thin and crisp. The shake flavors change daily according to which ice cream is on hand. I am now a huge fan of Taos Cow Ice Cream which uses natural and organic milk & eggs. I had lemon, my date had cherry. They were the kind of shakes that you will turn your face inside out trying to suck through a straw, so we took them with us and finished them on the drive back to ABQ. The slowly melting flavors were heaven in a cup. You know how sometimes you avoid a certain food because it is essentially not healthy, per se, and then you decide I HAVE EARNED A TREAT, so you think about it and find what you want and then make a date to go get it and sometimes it turns out that what you got to sate that craving wasn't worth it? Well, not this time! I haven't had a shake in years! Years! Mainly because most shakes just aren't that good. Well the one I had at the Shake Foundation was perfection. I felt like I waited for the right time and place, and I was rewarded with the best shake of my life. Totally worth it.

Within walking distance from where we were staying, Shake foundation was a must after a long day of climbing at Diablo Canyon. The seating is all outdoors. They have a graveled-area covered with picnic tables along with lights strewn from their kitchen to surrounding trees. It makes for a great hangout, especially on a nice, cool Santa Fe evening. I ordered the lamb burger and a raspberry shake. The better half split the oyster burger with one of our friends. The food is good and reasonably price. They're roughly the size of an In-n-Out burger (about palm-sized), so take note if you are really hungry. One worked for lunch, but I would have needed two for dinner, especially after a highly active day. The shakes are really good, but you need a spoon. They are thick!!!! A straw was about as useful as a butter knife is towards cutting a steak. Being an ice cream fanatic, I prefer it that way, but it's not something you can slurp on while you drive home. Overall, Shake foundation makes for a great lunch or evening snack. I would also recommend it to families with kids. Their simple menu is great for picky eaters, but it also includes some unique items for the more daring.

Hmmm... Well, if you decide to go, order lots of napkins! You're gonna be wearing that burger. Hope you like standing around in the sun, 'cause that's what you'll be doing a lot of waiting to order your food. Also, watch for strands of wire poking up out of the dirt in the parking lot. I scratched my ankle open on a couple getting out of my car. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT wash your hands with anything but COLD water in the bathroom, or you will receive third degree burns from the hot side. I mentioned both of those hazards to the owner the last time I was there, but he was too busy shoving burgers to be concerned about safety issues for his customers. I mentioned the boiling bathroom sink water a year ago. Hasn't cooled down yet.

I only go here for their shakes and shoe-string fries, which are fantastic. All overpriced, but quite delicious. I advise against getting a burger here; they are bland, expensive, and generally unimpressive. I truly love getting the Affogato, only I wish they cooled the espresso before combining it with the ice cream as it melts within five minutes. Overall, if you get the Lavender shake and manage to grab a seat in the shade, the vibe is chill and the music is great.

Meh. I ask for no salt on fires, which yields "sorry we can't do that." I talk them into it since this is real simple: just don't add salt when said fries come out of fryer. I get my no salt fries: -1, +1. Burger was dry, but green chilies are good: -2, +1. Refill on soda? Nope. Lame for price: -1. Sundae: asked for half vanilla, half chocolate, add pecans. Got all chocolate, with chocolate sauce I did not want (listed on menu as optional): -2. Grand total: -3.

This little outdoor burger joint is so good that people come rain or shine - never mind that it's completely al fresco dining without much overhead cover. Luckily for me, I was able to nab one of the only two tables with overhead protection on a wet afternoon. I tried the junior foundation green chili cheeseburger, and my fiance had a double classic burger. The green chili burger had a nice kick to it, but I didn't necessarily enjoy how messy it ended up being. Of the two orders, I thought the classic burger was the winner. I recommend adding the chili mayo in your burger as it takes it up a notch in flavor. They were all out of the fried oyster sandwich, so I'll definitely be coming back soon to try that baby. As for the shakes, I ordered the lavender which I thought was a bit too strong in flavor. I usually love lavender-infused ice creams and teas, but I thought theirs was a bit overwhelming. Instead of the subtle lavender scent that I normally enjoy, it tasted like I was drinking lavender perfume. They can tone it way down in my opinion. Other than that, this place is hip, simple, and fresh. I'll definitely be back for more.

I had the double green chile cheeseburger and a side of their green chile stew. The burger had kind of fallen apart/over in the bag and was very "wet" unfortunately. I only walked the bag 5 steps from the service window to the bench before eating it. The green chile didn't have that much flavor, the cheese had become something of a sauce and contributed to the wet nature of the burger. The beef patties were decent and the bun was okay - where it hadn't become soggy. The green chile stew was very hot in temperature and had a decent flavor/taste. If you want the green chile cheeseburger experience in Santa Fe I would recommend the Santa Fe Bite.

I watched as the attendant wiped his nose with his bare hand as he read the next ticket (mine), then grabbed the cup for my ice cream with the same hand he had just rubbed his nose with, his fingers wrapped around the top of the cup with his thumb actually inside the cup! I didn't know what to say or how to say it, especially since the guy who actually gave me the ice cream (different person) was over the top friendly with a huge smile and enthusiastic "thank you" **sigh** I'm not sure I'll go back, although I've been there before and the ice cream is really delicious. **sigh**

We had seen the long lines and decided to give it a try. Pretty disappointing overall. Service: The young woman working the register seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but there. Big contrast to a casual place like Bumblebee's where everyone is so nice. French fries: The worst I have had in years. The were burnt and bitter and greasy. I think they hadn't changed the oil in some time. We ate half of our order and threw the rest out. I can't remember throwing out french fries before. Classic Burger: The buttered bun was soft and delicious, definitely the best thing about the entire meal. The burger itself was juicy and seemed fresh, however it was rather flavorless. I don't think they seasoned the meat at all. I can't remember having a burger that was so bland. Lamb Burger: Again, the buttered bun was excellent. Thankfully the meat for this burger had more flavor than the regular hamburger, but it also wasn't seasoned at all. We didn't try the shakes, but unless those are out of this world I really don't understand why people go here. There is so much great food in Santa Fe and this was well below average. Too bad, we could use a great local burger place with local ingredients., but this isn't it.

Shake Foundation is amazingly cute- the owner did a fantastic job conceptualizing an experience reminiscent of an "oldies" hamburger joint while incorporating more recent trends with awesome branding. We enjoyed people watching while we ate our tasty green chile cheeseburgers outside at the shaded picnic tables. I appreciate that they source their ingredients from local vendors. Shake Foundation is VERY dog friendly as the whole place is outside. And even though it is entirely outdoors, it was very clean and comfortable. The service was friendly, the shakes thick and creamy, and I am certain these were the best french fries I've ever had. Will definitely recommend to our friends traveling to Santa Fe!

This place is a racket. The burgers are tiny, flat and dry. The large green chile stew portion was one cup at most. It was not worth the wait or the price. In addition the courtesy water they offer is hot. Don't waste your money.

Outdoor seating with picnic ambiance. The green chili cheeseburgers are not the least bit spicy, which was surprising. But, they were good and hearty. Milkshakes from local Taos cows are so thick, grab a spoon!

The fries here are super thin and crispy, which was delicious! We got the strawberry shake and the coffee shake, and both were really delicious. We got the green chile cheeseburger as well, the chiles were super spicy! I wish the bun was a toasted or more crispy, because it seemed a little soggy.

I've been to shake foundation 3 times now. I love a good burger and I've had just about every burger in town. What bothers me about shake foundation is you don't get what you pay for. A "double foundation" burger costs $7. Sounds big, right? It's not... It's comparable to a "mcdouble" (McDonald's dollar menu burger blah) in size. Then there's the fries. Small fries is $4. So what if they're hand cut. It's still just a fried potato. Nothing to it. Id be ok with the price if they were really good... But they're just not. They're pretty mediocre. The taste of the burger is pretty bland. I don't care much for overly salty foods but their meat is very under seasoned. It's not a bad burger, but it's just not that good. If you want a good fast food burger in town, try "Realburger". For hands-down the best burger in town go to the "Santa Fe Bite". Trust me. Skip this place.

Excellent burger, awesome shakes. Prior to this review, I've only had the pleasure of trying a couple of their shakes. Today I visited for a late lunch, ordered the cheeseburger and fries. They make everything for you right there on the spot, so be prepared for a wait, especially if they are busy. Everything is fresh. The lettuce was perfectly green and crisp; the tomato just right; the meat prepared just right. It tasted like a burger I would grill myself, actually. The fries were delicious. Definitely will return to try other items on the menu.

Not a bad little burger joint at all. Beware, the line up and order at the window model is confusing for some folks and you'll get a lot of people that wait in line and disregard the menu directly to the left/right. When they get to the window they are befuddled as to what is happening. Don't be that person, use your wait time to scope the options. Speaking of options, I would recommend both the green chile cheeseburger, as well as the fried oyster sandwich with the red chile mayo. Both are awesome, and if you get a junior burger, you could easily take both down in one sitting. Shakes are also awesome. Taos Cow ice cream, I had the salted caramel and loved it. Would be curious to try the lavender. Outdoor seating on picnic tables. Great summer time place.

Awesome green chili cheeseburger. Wasn't a huge fan of the shoe string fries. Shakes are big and good! Root beer float was a huge hit with my kids. We like the outside sitting on picnic tables. Have tried this place multiple times always out of the specialty shake flavors like salted Carmel. I don't know how they are always out of all the flavors. So if your coming for a special flavor shake don't come here they will not have any. Cashier has been the same woman every time and is always rude she makes you feel like she is doing you a favor when you order. The burgers are good small but good they always need salt as well. The oyster sandwich is good but need to ask for extra red chile mayo if not it's really dry. Fries are disappointing don't get them.

I love the food here! I see a lot of comments about the size of the burgers but in my opinion, they're perfect! I get really tired of the huge portions most places serve these days. Shake foundation's burgers are perfect for me. If you love good green chile, and who doesn't, you'll love Shake Foundation's. It's just the right amount of spicy, they put a lot on the burger, and the flavor is great. And we love the meat and buns, too. And, oh, the fries are excellent! Thin and crispy and just salty enough. Yum. The owner is always super friendly, too. I do agree that the counter help could be a bit more personable, though. Don't let that keep you from going. The food is great!

What a rip-off! Smallest burger I've ever had that wasn't advertised as a kid's meal or a slider. No combos. Everything is seperate order. The small fries are bigger than the burger. Plus, they got my order wrong. I ordered a double cheese burger, small fries and a root beer. That was $11.34. Then when I get my order, I got a single cheese burger. I told the guy that isn't what I ordered. He asked to see my receipt. Sure enough, my receipt said single. That's a lot for a single. Then they offered to cook up a 2nd patty if I wanted to step back in line and pay the difference. They didn't even offer to fix it for free. How hard is it to get an order right when all you have to know is single or double. The burger was ok but not worth that much for such a small burger. This was the 1st and last time I eat here!

The good: Love the design of the place though it is obviously more than an homage to my hometown's often imitated yet never duplicated burger maestro's, "Shake Shack". Here you will find picnic tables, which on a sunny day is lovely. The burger looked good, tasted great. They claim the meat is locally sourced and hormone free, which is good. The shoestring fries were quite good as well. Did not try a shake this time. The bad: I feel the portions are small and overpriced. If I'm going to spend $40 for two people at a glorified food truck, I'd prefer be waited on and enjoy a nice steak. No square payment if the electricity goes down? Come now, it's not 2005.

We took yelp reviews and had lunch here. It was a fun experience. It is pricey but the burgers were good, the milkshakes were great! Everyone recommends the green chile burger. I'd already had my fill of green chile food (since it's everywhere in NM) so had a regular cheeseburger. It was good. High quality food and fun environment. Def recommend.

The slogan on their sign says, "you can kinda have your way," so consider yourself warned. Their hours are whack (11 am to 6 pm, what kind of business plan is that?), so we waited an extra day to stop by for a visit. Then my first three menu choices of shake flavors were sold out (?!) by 2:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon (no salt caramel, no coffee, not even chocolate), so I opted not to order anything. My girlfriend ordered a cinnamon shake which was tasty, so that's why we gave them 2 stars instead of one for this trip.

The food was just "ok", small burger, expensive, but being a "local", if it's good, it's worth it. The problem here is: The owner/chef and the rest of the staff. We tried this "place" if you want to call it that 3 times.. we have lots of family and friends all over the world and they come to visit frequently so we are always trying new places. All 3 times the staff was totally rude and acted like they were doing us a favor serving us. I had questions about the burgers (as anyone would) and was treated (by the owner) like I was stupid for asking questions about food I was paying for. To make a long story short.. those of us who live in SF love our tourists and want them to have the best experience here.. this is an embarrassment for us .. there are many great places to eat here. Go elsewhere

Mmmm Good Burger Mmmmeehhhhh French Fries. They're not actually "French Fries", They are "Hand-Cut Shoestring Fries". There's nothing wrong with them per se, I'm just not a fan of eating shoestrings. Just judging by the price, I thought that these fries would be Le Bomb du Pomme because they actually cost more than the hamburgers here, but they're not so hot. I could really do a rant on their idea for the physical building establishment, but I don't want to be a hater (today). It just seems really odd to me all the effort that went into making a walk up window burger stand. It's really overkill, but hey it's their deal not mine. Like I said, Good Burger. Enjoy

Let's start with the good, the shakes! Great shakes! Different fries than usual kinda crisp and thin, I liked them. But then the disappointment of biting into my burger and finding the meat to be bland and uneventful. They need to do something more with their mean instead of just frying it.

The food was good, the service was horrible. Me, my wife and 2 daughters noticed the Shake Foundation on our way to the mountains and thought it looked like a fun place to eat. Sadly my wife suffered from altitude sickness, so we thought on our way back to town we'd get some food and hopefully that would make her feel better. We pulled into the Shake Foundation parking lot, wife feeling as though she was about to pass out. She asked for some bread to munch on for a moment to make her feel better. I walked up to the order window, there was nobody in line, politely asked the cashier if I could get a bun for my wife who was sick in the car, and told them we would order dinner for our whole family within a few minutes. The cashier stepped away to talk to someone, likely a shift manager, and returned to hesitantly inform me that they couldn't give me a bun, but would if I ordered something. A bit frustrated I ordered a soda, thinking it would be the quickest way to pay for something and get that bun. I paid $2.50, the cashier gave me the soda, I stood and waited for the bun. The cashier asked if I wanted the receipt. No, but can it have the bun please? The cashier stared at me with a blank face. I told them I just bought a soda liked they asked me to, and wanted the bun. I reminded them again that I was about to spend $30+ on food for my family and I would just like to get some bread to give to my wife who's about to blackout in the car. The cashier stepped away again to talk to the man behind the curtain and came back and told me I had to buy the bun for 50 cents. I bought a soda, but they wouldn't give me a bun because I didn't pay for one. Seriously WTF! 50 cents, a $2.50 soda, 8 minutes and 2 unnecessary charges to my debit card later I get a hamburger bun to give my wife. I could've walked a mile down the road to Whole Foods to get some bread, it would've been less hassle and frustration. I'm a man of my word. Despite the worst customer service I've had in years, I spent well over $40 on burgers, fries and shakes. The only thing that made me feel better? Composing this review on my mobile phone for 25 minutes, knowing my wife barfed in their parking lot, and the Kakawa chocolate we picked up earlier. Do yourself a favor, travel the 2,060 miles to New York, stand in line for an hour and spend your money at the Shake Shack in Madison Garden. You'll get better food, better atmosphere and significantly better service than this Shake Shack ripoff.

This place is a cut above your average burger joint, and the best in town for what it offers. They should figure out a way to do indoor seating at some point and then the place will really take off... Almost forgot! Best crispy shoestring fries in the USA...

I don't get other reviewer complaints about price or flavor. $3.95 for a burger. No, it's not huge, so what? It's made with all fresh ingredients. And the beef tastes as delicious as fresh beef tastes, not masked with fillers or anything else. It's delicious cow. This place will be even better when the weather warms up and we can enjoy the picnic tables.

Visiting Santa Fe, drove by Shake Foundation and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. Perfect medium rare burger. Fresh cut crispy shoestring fries. Thick and creamy real peach shake. The shake is definitely their foundation and they serve one of the best burgers in the region. If you are within 500 miles of Santa Fe, you must eat at the Shake Foundation.

They use organic meats and produce. I had the green chili double and Vee had the Portobello burger...both excellent! The lavender shake - amazing! The shoestring fries really good (and I'm not a fan of this type of fry). The green chile cheese burger - GROSS! The chile was good but the meat of the burger was awful. It had zero seasoning - like none - even the best ground beef needs salt. It was so bad I couldn't even finish it - and it's a tiny burger. I had such high hopes - it's a cool concept in a good space. I may go back for fries and a shake, but never a burger.

I was at shake foundation the other day with my boyfriend. Our first time trying out this place. The lady who took our order was either really rushed by the 3 ppl behind us in line or straight rude. She had no patience for questions. We both got burgers, shared the small order of shoestring fries and their lemonade The food was great, but next time I go no lemonade and the large shoestring fries Their outside seating was cute until the wind blew dust from their parking lot our way......

My wife and I stopped by this place because we've lived in Santa Fe for a while now and had yet to try Shake Foundation. It was a beautiful day and their patio is pretty amazing so she ordered the single w/ green chile and I got the Foundation Double. We ordered the large shoestring fries to share. Oh let me add that she is 8 months pregnant and when she's hungry she fills with a hormonal rage not seen since Genghis Khan. So they called our number and only my burger was made and it came with a small fries. The cook looked perplexed when I explained that there were 2 orders. I told him what my wife ordered and he proceeded to make it. After taking my burger to my wife I explained the situation and left her with my food so she could feed herself and our human vacuum residing in her uterus. I walked to the window and told the cashier (her name starts with "M" and rhymes with "harmonica") that my she messed up my pregnant wife's order and asked if we could possibly get a free shake since we'd have to wait another 20 minutes for the meal she screwed up. She declined because it was $6.00 for a shake and her manager wasn't there for her to ask him/her (perhaps she isn't apt enough to make a customer service judgement call). She did however offer me a sample of a chocolate shake. Um, a sample?!?!?! No thanks! My wife talked to both she and the cook explaining that she is with child and it sounded like Monica didn't give 2 craps. So about 20 minutes later a tall gentleman walked out with our food and a shake (free) and apologized. It seems that "M" put 2 separate orders in and blamed the kitchen for her screw up. If you read more Yelp reviews you'll see that the customer service at this juke joint is horrible and everyone from locals to tourists suggest to spend your money elsewhere. As far as the food, I got a tiny double meat burger which was smaller than the palm of my hand. With the cheese and bland green chile it came out to $8.00. My wife's single burger was about the size of a White Castle burger but not half as tasty (and I hate White Castle). The fries were cold but the shake wasn't bad. Overall it was a horribly bad experience which is unfortunate because we are locals who are devoted to supporting small business with our hard earned cash. This restaurant could've made a lot of money off of us for years to come but they'll never get another penny. I guess I can sum this place up by saying it's called the Shake Foundation because they'll turn you upside down and shake every last penny and ounce of sanity out of you.

The shakes are amazing! Local ice cream made my lavender shake the best I've ever had! The green chile is spicy, the burgers were done perfectly and came with all the fixings of your choice. The shoe string fries were delightful, even my boyfriend loved them and he usually dislikes fries. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. The seating is outside so be prepared!

So, first, East Coasters - this is not Danny Meyers' Shake Shack. But it's not bad. Burgers are good (buns are excellent), fries are very good. Shakes are great, with Taos Ice Cream in a bunch of flavors. Service at the window can be borderline grumpy - I changed an order from a single to a double patty and the request was treated as if I'd asked for a free Cadillac with my order. At the other end, the food delivery is always pleasant and cheerful. Currently open till 7pm, for the homeward bound grab-and-go crowd.

The burgers are pretty good here. Think of a small (kiddie) version of an IN-N-OUT burger with green chile, extra grease and twice the price. The fry's: think McDonald's fry's and the shakes are average. I like creamy shakes better than than I do icy shakes. I actually like Jack in the Box shakes better than Shake Foundation's. Give it a try though. It's pricey but not that bad. I'm not as impressed as many others are.

I love this place. I was a diehard Bobcat Bite (now called Santa Fe Bite) fan, but I have a new love now, and it is called Shake Foundation. I have gotten the double pattied green chile cheeseburger twice now, and can hardly wait to go back again. I find the meat perfectly seasoned (not too salty), the fries are like match sticks, and the caesar salad is delicious and entertainingly presented. And of course, the milk shakes are an added bonus. Yum yum yum!

I have wanted to try this place since I read about it in the paper last month. I was pleasantly surprised by the price of the burgers, but shocked when what I got at the pickup window was barely bigger than a slider. It was smaller than a McDonald's hamburger (ok, it was thicker). I did not detect any off taste to the beef as reported by some reviewers. It could have used some additional salt. The sign says all burgers cooked medium, and the last bites of the meat had that brown foam I associate with not quite cooked meat. All this said, the green chile cheeseburger I had was ok, but I've had better. One good thing about the baby burger was that it left room for a chocolate shake, which was pretty good. One thing Santa Fe definitely needs is a place to get a decent shake (12 oz for $6). Again not the best shake I ever had but I'll get another. Not as sure I'll get another burger.

Haven't tried the shakes yet, but love the green chili cheese burger and fries! The bun on the burger melts in your mouth along with the green chili and cheese. There is a clean, pure flavor to the french fries. You know they are real potatoes cooked in clean oil. The restaurant seating is all outdoors, which is thoughtfully placed away from the street and has a nice group of wooden picnic tables. There are a few heaters at the front. Looking forward to being here in the summer.

I wanted to love this place. Its super cute and its intentions are clearly great. HOwever, like the other reviewers here, the beef has an off taste and I didnt finish the burger. As a foodie, I was thrilled to see that they were using Martin's hamburger buns because everybody except New Mexico food store owners knows they're the best for burgers. The burger looked decent and the choice of toppings were good. Again, it was just the taste of the beef that won't have me coming back :( Fries were good for shoestring fries... not my type but they were good. Pricing was a bit high for those fries. If they change their beef, let me know and Ill try again!

Okay, my pinon caramel shake was pretty good. Ordered for 3 people. All of the burgers were in the same box and they would not tell me which was which. For as much as they cost, the burgers are very small. At first I thought they were giving us sliders. If you like your food to have flavor, this isn't the place for you. I thought everything except the shake was very bland. Basically, this place just made me wonder why nobody can seem to open a decent place in Santa Fe. I no longer have hope when a new place opens here.

I was just looking at the menu posted and a very friendly fellow popped his head out of the "I COOK" window and said he could help (as opposed to "asking" me if I needed help.). That kind of set the tone for me and this burger/shake joint -- in a good way; a different approach with a certain kind of confidence. So, I told the guy that I REALLY wanted the Hatch green chile grilled cheese (like the one on their menu) but sadly, he said they aren't serving it right now... Boo... :( this fellow told me their only vegetarian option at this time is a mushroom burger. Didn't really want a mushroom, so I passed and got some fries and a shake. The shoestring fries were good BUT at $3.75, they should be outta this world. I'll try the fries again if: -they lower the cost -increase the portion -make me float up to heaven and drift back to earth like a leaf in Fall (3 stars) The shake? Really good and I'd say and worth the $5.75. I got the total chick flavor, Lavender. Great flavor + a little fiber (yep, there's lavender buds in the shake). Didn't pop for .50 for malt (a weird flavor combo, you know). But will surely try other flavored shakes with the malt (I ADORE malts!!!) It was creamy, tasty and suckable through a straw. A few ice bits but still pretty darn good. (4 stars) Hopefully on my next shake stop they'll have that green chile grilled cheese to boot!

I do wish the person working the register dis know what they were doing though. he tried to charge me a whole other burger because i wanted an extra patty. they said the only way to get an extra patty ontop of a double was to order another burger....later i found out that was not true....

We had the turkey burgers and a ginger lemonade. The meat had an average and decent flavor, the rest of the burger was truly a joke. It had two "oh so tiny" slices of tomato, and two slices of iceberg lettuce about 2" in diameter. We ordered them with grilled onions, which was about 1 tablespoon of diced warm onion. The lemonade actually tasted like Minute Maid out of a carton. Could not detect even a hint of ginger. I really would have liked to give this place a good or even fair rating. We are long time residents of Santa Fe and always try to support local businesses. It's not too late to make changes. A good start would be a slightly larger burger, instead of the "just above a slider" size. Also, a bit more generous on the tomato, lettuce and grilled onions. As it is now, this place is definitely not a place to enjoy a burger. I've noticed since the summer tourists are arriving, Shake Foundation has done a brisk business. Brings to mind that you can fool most of the people, most of the time.

Outstanding food and people! You want classic American comfort food with a little added New Mexico red or green chili heat? Then this is a place for you. Brian, the owner, put a lot of thought and caring into this restaurant and it shows. First of all If you're a tourist looking for a "classic" green chile cheeseburger, go to Blake's. If you want the best burger in Santa Fe, to to Bang Bite. That being said:! The milkshakes are just weak. Almost entirely milk. When I showed the cashier its pure liquid state he said that's how it should be before begrudgingly adding another scoop of ice cream, which then tasted like it might have been the first one put in. The burger is unremarkable aside from the fact that it's tiny. Also don't forget to name every single thing you want on your burger or it will just come as bread and meat, something they only told me when I came back asking for some lettuce tomato and onion. Not the worst, but far from the best.

The best shakes ever!!! The milk is organic and definitely comes from happy cows. My two personal fav flavors were caramel sea salt with pinon nuts and the lavender shake with real lavender bud. Totally addictive and amazing. They have classic flavors like chocolate malt and vanilla but why get something so humdrum when you can have a coconut milkshake? Green Chile cheese burger and shoestring fries were tasty too. The shake foundation also donates $ to local art foundations that help local children in the area, so you can feel good about those indulgent ice cream shakes :)

So this was not the down home green Chile cheese burger I was looking for. The Chile was great, the meat was very bland and omg teeny tiny burgers. I thought I was paying for a full size burger and what I got was a slider....not to mention the bland fries which cost just as much as the burger!! If you need a green Chile burger fix you'll get more bang for your buck at Lotaburger. .. The shakes were decent, however they still did not have any of the ingredients for the specialty shakes available. So we had vanilla which was just as yummy as any other vanilla shake. If this place hopes to survive in they need to lower their prices or kick up their flavor and portions!

After reading the mix of good and bad reviews I decided to check it out for myself. Service was great, very friendly. I really enjoyed my chile cheese burger, the meat was slightly average but the green chile and soft bun more than made up for that. What stole the show for me though, was the fried oyster sandwich w/ red chile mayo. All i can say is whoa, i want more! Ill definitely be back.

Definitely an OK place. There are few things that keep this from getting more stars. I would say the food is just average. The green chili-cheese burgers I have had are pretty bland. The meat has almost no flavor and the patties are small and the chili is not anything close to hot. For just a little more money I think the burgers at Tune-Up or Joe's Diner are way better. The fries here are pretty good as are their shakes. It is popular especially around lunch time. It would be nice if you could place your order ahead of time because my typical wait is 15 minutes for a order consisting of a burger and fries. However to place an order ahead of time you need to order $20.00 worth of food and you must prepay. I can't think of any place that has such a restriction on phone orders, I guess they don't really want to take them. Too bad, it isn't a bad place to get a burger, it just takes too long to make it a good grab-and-go place for lunch.

Love this place, The burger is a soft juicy mass of beef, jack cheese and green chile with a buttered bun. They say it is all local ingredients, whatever it is, it's delicious. All of th flavors sort of come together in a mass, love it. I really think the price is just fine for this level of quality, I think 3.95 for this burger is a deal, I do usually order one for lunch and two at dinner time, skipping the fries. That is one negative point, I really don't care for the extremely thin fries, I prefer a little more bulk. Haven't tried a shake yet, but friends say they are delish.

I wanted to place an order for 6 people in our workplace. First of all, they come off as being very negative when the first thing they tell you is there is a $20.00 minimum and you must use a credit card. I then asked the employee if they would please place and initial on each burger so we would know who's was who's. The answer was without hesitation "NO! Horrible customer service -will go elsewhere.

Ok folks, seriously. Yes it is true their presentation and marketing is great but the food and price just don't hold up! The burger was $4 and it was the size of a slider. I mean, I have now problem with sliders but the price should reflect the portion. The meat was perfectly average. The bun was plain, very white, and so very below average. How can anyone be complimenting it? Then the milk shake was $6 and it tasted like carmel milk. Huh? I thought I ordered an ice cream milk shake?!? This was a huge disappointment. My advice to the owner is to start over. Revaluate the menu, lower prices, and throw a few promotional days with freebies to test the food out/ build a client following. You need to invest some before you can make some. You can also raise prices later. So, if slider size is shake foundation's "thing" then price the burger in the dollar range. This is especially true if you want to market the business towards high school kids. High school kids are hungry and they can't afford a $4 slider. I know this is Santa Fe and we have an affluent community. This still doesn't mean people will pay more for less. There are far too many other better options in town to waste time on this kind of mediocrity. I say revaluate before it is too late! In the mean time, I think I will save money get a perfectly acceptable burger at Blake's or maybe I will spend a bit more for something spectacular at Santa Fe Bite. Now, that's a place that is worth the money.

The burgers are amazing....if they can remember to put on the tomato and lettuce. The fries, divine...if they are not over cooked and cut so thin that they crunch like potato chips... The Shake Foundation is riddled with constant inconsistencies. The food is made with great ingredients. Too bad the service and hospitality do not match. I have had lunch here on SEVERAL occasions. The burgers are very good. But sometimes you are greeted with a coherent cashier, other times met with a blank face. Sometimes the fries are luscious and great, other times crispy and dry. Sometimes the burgers have lettuce and tomato, sometimes only a patty. Often times I have even experienced a rude interaction with management toward staff, staff, or possibly the owner themselves. This place is a disappointing toss up, wither way you roll the dice. Too bad. Hope they get it together, shake foundation would be a welcome and needed new hot spot in Santa Fe.

If every place treated their last customer of the day this well & with this attention to detail-wow! All I wanted was dinner & instead I received a meal with layers of flavor & sincere service. Already shut down the speciality shakes, no problem they threw in the biscochittos alongside my shake. In truth I never saw my meal, it disappeared on my dark drive home, but the buttered bun to the perfect ratio of chile/cheese, to the soft & crunchy fries in each bite made my long day disappear. Had been waiting for this place to open and then was put off by some of the reviews but, decided to try for myself. Got a double green chile cheese burger and fries. My burger was great although the menu says that the "garlic mayo" is free they charged me $1.50 extra. I think that is a little high. The french fries were great! Crispy and tasty. Will definitely go back, although a little on the pricey side.

Never mind the mixed reviews of the burgers (which I think are unfair -- maybe we're so used to eating additives that our sense of taste has become adulterated), the fried oyster sandwich I ate yesterday was out-of-this-world. Well maybe not entirely cause I kept thinking the rest of the day about when I lived in New Orleans. Every bite was different. Better than authentic. Are the sandwiches a bit smaller? Sure, but maybe our sense of portion has became adulterated as well. Is it great quality for the price? Absolutely. There is also much charm in the presentation & packaging. Why only 4 stars? Cause I'm not crazy about the fries. Good flavour but are a bit too literally like shoestrings -- too thin & limp. They should have a little more body & some should have a little crisp. And there should be recycling options for the cardboard, paper waste.

Delicious!! I got the portobello mushroom burger and shoe string fries. I loved the bun! It was all so tasty. I loved my meal. The service was really great too. This place is poppin so parking can be tricky and there's a bit of a line but well worth the wait! Can't wait to come back for a shake, they looked super.

First time my wife and I stopped at Shake Foundation. We tried the green chili cheeseburgers and shakes. We arrived early for lunch and were surprised that they were already out of 4 of the 7 flavors of ice cream advertised for their shakes. If they aren't going to stock what they advertise, they should at least change their sign. The food was decent. We were pleased to see the shakes were made from organic ingredients from a local creamery. The green chili on the burger tasted good and had just the right amount of heat. By the time we finished our burgers, I noticed one of the employees finally brought the ketchup dispenser out to the self-service condiment counter. Glad I wasn't on the mood for ketchup today! Considering how early we arrived and how few customers they had, we were surprised at how long it took to get our order. Maybe they are still trying to get their act together, and I hope they are a success, but their product ordering and service look like it needs fine tuning.

Some things are perfect in their simplicity. That describes the Shake Foundation. Get the green chile cheeseburger, and no, don't get any other toppings - that way you can savor the perfect blend of meat, chese and heat. The fries are hand cut, thin and crisp. The shake flavors change daily according to which ice cream is on hand. I am now a huge fan of Taos Cow Ice Cream which uses natural and organic milk & eggs. I had lemon, my date had cherry. They were the kind of shakes that you will turn your face inside out trying to suck through a straw, so we took them with us and finished them on the drive back to ABQ. The slowly melting flavors were heaven in a cup. You know how sometimes you avoid a certain food because it is essentially not healthy, per se, and then you decide I HAVE EARNED A TREAT, so you think about it and find what you want and then make a date to go get it and sometimes it turns out that what you got to sate that craving wasn't worth it? Well, not this time! I haven't had a shake in years! Years! Mainly because most shakes just aren't that good. Well the one I had at the Shake Foundation was perfection. I felt like I waited for the right time and place, and I was rewarded with the best shake of my life. Totally worth it.

Within walking distance from where we were staying, Shake foundation was a must after a long day of climbing at Diablo Canyon. The seating is all outdoors. They have a graveled-area covered with picnic tables along with lights strewn from their kitchen to surrounding trees. It makes for a great hangout, especially on a nice, cool Santa Fe evening. I ordered the lamb burger and a raspberry shake. The better half split the oyster burger with one of our friends. The food is good and reasonably price. They're roughly the size of an In-n-Out burger (about palm-sized), so take note if you are really hungry. One worked for lunch, but I would have needed two for dinner, especially after a highly active day. The shakes are really good, but you need a spoon. They are thick!!!! A straw was about as useful as a butter knife is towards cutting a steak. Being an ice cream fanatic, I prefer it that way, but it's not something you can slurp on while you drive home. Overall, Shake foundation makes for a great lunch or evening snack. I would also recommend it to families with kids. Their simple menu is great for picky eaters, but it also includes some unique items for the more daring.

I only go here for their shakes and shoe-string fries, which are fantastic. All overpriced, but quite delicious. I advise against getting a burger here; they are bland, expensive, and generally unimpressive. I truly love getting the Affogato, only I wish they cooled the espresso before combining it with the ice cream as it melts within five minutes. Overall, if you get the Lavender shake and manage to grab a seat in the shade, the vibe is chill and the music is great.

We ate here for the first time yesterday and loved it. Can't say I get how someone could call the burgers "flavorless." They tasted just like a real burger containing real meat should taste. And as for "small," what people aren't getting is that the meat patty is probably the same weight as any other burger they're getting around town at the same price. It's THICK instead of THIN. And a thick patty makes for a juicy, yummy burger, which this is. Second, most places these days give you inferior meat and add "flavoring" in hopes that you won't notice. This was REAL meat. The buns, rather than being something you just eat with a burger, were incredible. We absolutely loved every bite of our burgers. The hand-cut fries were crispy and to die for. Like the burgers, if you are offering real food, you don't have to add a cupful of spices to make it taste good. Our shakes were incredibly rich. Expensive, but any shake made from hard ice cream "imported" from Taos would be. Chocolaty enough to satisfy any craving. A burger, a shared small fries, and a shake made us so full we didn't even want dinner.

Hmmm... Well, if you decide to go, order lots of napkins! You're gonna be wearing that burger. Hope you like standing around in the sun, 'cause that's what you'll be doing a lot of waiting to order your food. Also, watch for strands of wire poking up out of the dirt in the parking lot. I scratched my ankle open on a couple getting out of my car. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT wash your hands with anything but COLD water in the bathroom, or you will receive third degree burns from the hot side. I mentioned both of those hazards to the owner the last time I was there, but he was too busy shoving burgers to be concerned about safety issues for his customers. I mentioned the boiling bathroom sink water a year ago. Hasn't cooled down yet.

I get annoyed by staff that dont take it serious. The service is lacking. Gave me two cups for the shake one inside the other, sandwiched between both was a mess of shake. This place shakes it up! All seating is outside...so it could be brutal during the windy weather months and they need to provide a bit more shade. I had the double pattie green chili cheeseburgers with a chocolate shake. It's a good burger and easy to put down because they are not that big. The shakes are perfect, I almost ordered another one. The service I must say can be much more friendly, but they were pushing out the orders so I fully understand. My brother ordered the shake caesar salad, its basically a 4 dollar cup of lettuce with caesar dressing at the bottom (probably stay away from that one)

Wow! You order at the window and there's a lot of picnic tables and shade which is perfect. The green chile is a must, you are in New Mexico after all. Not too messy ( I didn't get guacamole tho, getting gauc would make it better but messier) I also got a vanilla milkshake - very thick! It is now on our list to go to every time we are in Santa Fe. Oh and the fries! They were super thin and crispy. Yum :)

Meh. I ask for no salt on fires, which yields "sorry we can't do that." I talk them into it since this is real simple: just don't add salt when said fries come out of fryer. I get my no salt fries: -1, +1. Burger was dry, but green chilies are good: -2, +1. Refill on soda? Nope. Lame for price: -1. Sundae: asked for half vanilla, half chocolate, add pecans. Got all chocolate, with chocolate sauce I did not want (listed on menu as optional): -2. Grand total: -3.

This little outdoor burger joint is so good that people come rain or shine - never mind that it's completely al fresco dining without much overhead cover. Luckily for me, I was able to nab one of the only two tables with overhead protection on a wet afternoon. I tried the junior foundation green chili cheeseburger, and my fiance had a double classic burger. The green chili burger had a nice kick to it, but I didn't necessarily enjoy how messy it ended up being. Of the two orders, I thought the classic burger was the winner. I recommend adding the chili mayo in your burger as it takes it up a notch in flavor. They were all out of the fried oyster sandwich, so I'll definitely be coming back soon to try that baby. As for the shakes, I ordered the lavender which I thought was a bit too strong in flavor. I usually love lavender-infused ice creams and teas, but I thought theirs was a bit overwhelming. Instead of the subtle lavender scent that I normally enjoy, it tasted like I was drinking lavender perfume. They can tone it way down in my opinion. Other than that, this place is hip, simple, and fresh. I'll definitely be back for more.

I had the double green chile cheeseburger and a side of their green chile stew. The burger had kind of fallen apart/over in the bag and was very "wet" unfortunately. I only walked the bag 5 steps from the service window to the bench before eating it. The green chile didn't have that much flavor, the cheese had become something of a sauce and contributed to the wet nature of the burger. The beef patties were decent and the bun was okay - where it hadn't become soggy. The green chile stew was very hot in temperature and had a decent flavor/taste. If you want the green chile cheeseburger experience in Santa Fe I would recommend the Santa Fe Bite.

We had seen the long lines and decided to give it a try. Pretty disappointing overall. Service: The young woman working the register seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but there. Big contrast to a casual place like Bumblebee's where everyone is so nice. French fries: The worst I have had in years. The were burnt and bitter and greasy. I think they hadn't changed the oil in some time. We ate half of our order and threw the rest out. I can't remember throwing out french fries before. Classic Burger: The buttered bun was soft and delicious, definitely the best thing about the entire meal. The burger itself was juicy and seemed fresh, however it was rather flavorless. I don't think they seasoned the meat at all. I can't remember having a burger that was so bland. Lamb Burger: Again, the buttered bun was excellent. Thankfully the meat for this burger had more flavor than the regular hamburger, but it also wasn't seasoned at all. We didn't try the shakes, but unless those are out of this world I really don't understand why people go here. There is so much great food in Santa Fe and this was well below average. Too bad, we could use a great local burger place with local ingredients., but this isn't it.

Shake Foundation is amazingly cute- the owner did a fantastic job conceptualizing an experience reminiscent of an "oldies" hamburger joint while incorporating more recent trends with awesome branding. We enjoyed people watching while we ate our tasty green chile cheeseburgers outside at the shaded picnic tables. I appreciate that they source their ingredients from local vendors. Shake Foundation is VERY dog friendly as the whole place is outside. And even though it is entirely outdoors, it was very clean and comfortable. The service was friendly, the shakes thick and creamy, and I am certain these were the best french fries I've ever had. Will definitely recommend to our friends traveling to Santa Fe!

I've been to shake foundation 3 times now. I love a good burger and I've had just about every burger in town. What bothers me about shake foundation is you don't get what you pay for. A "double foundation" burger costs $7. Sounds big, right? It's not... It's comparable to a "mcdouble" (McDonald's dollar menu burger blah) in size. Then there's the fries. Small fries is $4. So what if they're hand cut. It's still just a fried potato. Nothing to it. Id be ok with the price if they were really good... But they're just not. They're pretty mediocre. The taste of the burger is pretty bland. I don't care much for overly salty foods but their meat is very under seasoned. It's not a bad burger, but it's just not that good. If you want a good fast food burger in town, try "Realburger". For hands-down the best burger in town go to the "Santa Fe Bite". Trust me. Skip this place.

Excellent burger, awesome shakes. Prior to this review, I've only had the pleasure of trying a couple of their shakes. Today I visited for a late lunch, ordered the cheeseburger and fries. They make everything for you right there on the spot, so be prepared for a wait, especially if they are busy. Everything is fresh. The lettuce was perfectly green and crisp; the tomato just right; the meat prepared just right. It tasted like a burger I would grill myself, actually. The fries were delicious. Definitely will return to try other items on the menu.

Not a bad little burger joint at all. Beware, the line up and order at the window model is confusing for some folks and you'll get a lot of people that wait in line and disregard the menu directly to the left/right. When they get to the window they are befuddled as to what is happening. Don't be that person, use your wait time to scope the options. Speaking of options, I would recommend both the green chile cheeseburger, as well as the fried oyster sandwich with the red chile mayo. Both are awesome, and if you get a junior burger, you could easily take both down in one sitting. Shakes are also awesome. Taos Cow ice cream, I had the salted caramel and loved it. Have tried this place multiple times always out of the specialty shake flavors like salted Carmel. I don't know how they are always out of all the flavors. So if your coming for a special flavor shake don't come here they will not have any. Cashier has been the same woman every time and is always rude she makes you feel like she is doing you a favor when you order. The burgers are good small but good they always need salt as well. The oyster sandwich is good but need to ask for extra red chile mayo if not it's really dry. Fries are disappointing don't get them.

I love the food here! I see a lot of comments about the size of the burgers but in my opinion, they're perfect! I get really tired of the huge portions most places serve these days. Shake foundation's burgers are perfect for me. If you love good green chile, and who doesn't, you'll love Shake Foundation's. It's just the right amount of spicy, they put a lot on the burger, and the flavor is great. And we love the meat and buns, too. And, oh, the fries are excellent! Thin and crispy and just salty enough. Yum. The owner is always super friendly, too. I do agree that the counter help could be a bit more personable, though. Don't let that keep you from going. The food is great!

What a rip-off! Smallest burger I've ever had that wasn't advertised as a kid's meal or a slider. No combos. Everything is seperate order. The small fries are bigger than the burger. Plus, they got my order wrong. I ordered a double cheese burger, small fries and a root beer. That was $11.34. Then when I get my order, I got a single cheese burger. I told the guy that isn't what I ordered. He asked to see my receipt. Sure enough, my receipt said single. That's a lot for a single. Then they offered to cook up a 2nd patty if I wanted to step back in line and pay the difference. They didn't even offer to fix it for free. How hard is it to get an order right when all you have to know is single or double. The burger was ok but not worth that much for such a small burger. This was the 1st and last time I eat here!

The good: Love the design of the place though it is obviously more than an homage to my hometown's often imitated yet never duplicated burger maestro's, "Shake Shack". Here you will find picnic tables, which on a sunny day is lovely. The burger looked good, tasted great. They claim the meat is locally sourced and hormone free, which is good. The shoestring fries were quite good as well. Did not try a shake this time. The bad: I feel the portions are small and overpriced. If I'm going to spend $40 for two people at a glorified food truck, I'd prefer be waited on and enjoy a nice steak. No square payment if the electricity goes down? Come now, it's not 2005.

The slogan on their sign says, "you can kinda have your way," so consider yourself warned. Their hours are whack (11 am to 6 pm, what kind of business plan is that?), so we waited an extra day to stop by for a visit. Then my first three menu choices of shake flavors were sold out (?!) by 2:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon (no salt caramel, no coffee, not even chocolate), so I opted not to order anything. My girlfriend ordered a cinnamon shake which was tasty, so that's why we gave them 2 stars instead of one for this trip.

The food was good, the service was horrible. Me, my wife and 2 daughters noticed the Shake Foundation on our way to the mountains and thought it looked like a fun place to eat. Sadly my wife suffered from altitude sickness, so we thought on our way back to town we'd get some food and hopefully that would make her feel better. We pulled into the Shake Foundation parking lot, wife feeling as though she was about to pass out. She asked for some bread to munch on for a moment to make her feel better. I walked up to the order window, there was nobody in line, politely asked the cashier if I could get a bun for my wife who was sick in the car, and told them we would order dinner for our whole family within a few minutes. The cashier stepped away to talk to someone, likely a shift manager, and returned to hesitantly inform me that they couldn't give me a bun, but would if I ordered something. A bit frustrated I ordered a soda, thinking it would be the quickest way to pay for something and get that bun. I paid $2.50, the cashier gave me the soda, I stood and waited for the bun. The cashier asked if I wanted the receipt. No, but can it have the bun please? The cashier stared at me with a blank face. I told them I just bought a soda liked they asked me to, and wanted the bun. I reminded them again that I was about to spend $30+ on food for my family and I would just like to get some bread to give to my wife who's about to blackout in the car. The cashier stepped away again to talk to the man behind the curtain and came back and told me I had to buy the bun for 50 cents. I bought a soda, but they wouldn't give me a bun because I didn't pay for one. Seriously WTF! 50 cents, a $2.50 soda, 8 minutes and 2 unnecessary charges to my debit card later I get a hamburger bun to give my wife. I could've walked a mile down the road to Whole Foods to get some bread, it would've been less hassle and frustration. I'm a man of my word. Despite the worst customer service I've had in years, I spent well over $40 on burgers, fries and shakes. The only thing that made me feel better? Composing this review on my mobile phone for 25 minutes, knowing my wife barfed in their parking lot, and the Kakawa chocolate we picked up earlier. Do yourself a favor, travel the 2,060 miles to New York, stand in line for an hour and spend your money at the Shake Shack in Madison Garden. You'll get better food, better atmosphere and significantly better service than this Shake Shack ripoff.

Visiting Santa Fe, drove by Shake Foundation and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. Perfect medium rare burger. Fresh cut crispy shoestring fries. Thick and creamy real peach shake. The shake is definitely their foundation and they serve one of the best burgers in the region. If you are within 500 miles of Santa Fe, you must eat at the Shake Foundation.

My wife and I stopped by this place because we've lived in Santa Fe for a while now and had yet to try Shake Foundation. It was a beautiful day and their patio is pretty amazing so she ordered the single w/ green chile and I got the Foundation Double. We ordered the large shoestring fries to share. Oh let me add that she is 8 months pregnant and when she's hungry she fills with a hormonal rage not seen since Genghis Khan. So they called our number and only my burger was made and it came with a small fries. The cook looked perplexed when I explained that there were 2 orders. I told him what my wife ordered and he proceeded to make it. After taking my burger to my wife I explained the situation and left her with my food so she could feed herself and our human vacuum residing in her uterus. I walked to the window and told the cashier (her name starts with "M" and rhymes with "harmonica") that my she messed up my pregnant wife's order and asked if we could possibly get a free shake since we'd have to wait another 20 minutes for the meal she screwed up. She declined because it was $6.00 for a shake and her manager wasn't there for her to ask him/her (perhaps she isn't apt enough to make a customer service judgement call). She did however offer me a sample of a chocolate shake. Um, a sample?!?!?! No thanks! My wife talked to both she and the cook explaining that she is with child and it sounded like Monica didn't give 2 craps. So about 20 minutes later a tall gentleman walked out with our food and a shake (free) and apologized. It seems that "M" put 2 separate orders in and blamed the kitchen for her screw up. If you read more Yelp reviews you'll see that the customer service at this juke joint is horrible and everyone from locals to tourists suggest to spend your money elsewhere. As far as the food, I got a tiny double meat burger which was smaller than the palm of my hand. With the cheese and bland green chile it came out to $8.00. My wife's single burger was about the size of a White Castle burger but not half as tasty (and I hate White Castle). The fries were cold but the shake wasn't bad. Overall it was a horribly bad experience which is unfortunate because we are locals who are devoted to supporting small business with our hard earned cash. This restaurant could've made a lot of money off of us for years to come but they'll never get another penny. I guess I can sum this place up by saying it's called the Shake Foundation because they'll turn you upside down and shake every last penny and ounce of sanity out of you.

The shakes are amazing! Local ice cream made my lavender shake the best I've ever had! The green chile is spicy, the burgers were done perfectly and came with all the fixings of your choice. The shoe string fries were delightful, even my boyfriend loved them and he usually dislikes fries. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. The seating is outside so be prepared!

So, first, East Coasters - this is not Danny Meyers' Shake Shack. But it's not bad. Burgers are good (buns are excellent), fries are very good. Shakes are great, with Taos Ice Cream in a bunch of flavors. Service at the window can be borderline grumpy - I changed an order from a single to a double patty and the request was treated as if I'd asked for a free Cadillac with my order. At the other end, the food delivery is always pleasant and cheerful. Currently open till 7pm, for the homeward bound grab-and-go crowd.

The lavender shake - amazing! The shoestring fries really good (and I'm not a fan of this type of fry). The green chile cheese burger - GROSS! The chile was good but the meat of the burger was awful. It had zero seasoning - like none - even the best ground beef needs salt. It was so bad I couldn't even finish it - and it's a tiny burger. I had such high hopes - it's a cool concept in a good space. I may go back for fries and a shake, but never a burger.

The burgers are pretty good here. Think of a small (kiddie) version of an IN-N-OUT burger with green chile, extra grease and twice the price. The fry's: think McDonald's fry's and the shakes are average. I like creamy shakes better than than I do icy shakes. I actually like Jack in the Box shakes better than Shake Foundation's. Give it a try though. It's pricey but not that bad. I'm not as impressed as many others are.

I love this place. I was a diehard Bobcat Bite (now called Santa Fe Bite) fan, but I have a new love now, and it is called Shake Foundation. I have gotten the double pattied green chile cheeseburger twice now, and can hardly wait to go back again. I find the meat perfectly seasoned (not too salty), the fries are like match sticks, and the caesar salad is delicious and entertainingly presented. And of course, the milk shakes are an added bonus. Yum yum yum!

I have wanted to try this place since I read about it in the paper last month. I was pleasantly surprised by the price of the burgers, but shocked when what I got at the pickup window was barely bigger than a slider. It was smaller than a McDonald's hamburger (ok, it was thicker). I did not detect any off taste to the beef as reported by some reviewers. It could have used some additional salt. The sign says all burgers cooked medium, and the last bites of the meat had that brown foam I associate with not quite cooked meat. All this said, the green chile cheeseburger I had was ok, but I've had better. One good thing about the baby burger was that it left room for a chocolate shake, which was pretty good. One thing Santa Fe definitely needs is a place to get a decent shake (12 oz for $6). Again not the best shake I ever had but I'll get another. Not as sure I'll get another burger.

Haven't tried the shakes yet, but love the green chili cheese burger and fries! The bun on the burger melts in your mouth along with the green chili and cheese. There is a clean, pure flavor to the french fries. You know they are real potatoes cooked in clean oil. The restaurant seating is all outdoors, which is thoughtfully placed away from the street and has a nice group of wooden picnic tables. There are a few heaters at the front. Looking forward to being here in the summer.

I wanted to love this place. Its super cute and its intentions are clearly great. HOwever, like the other reviewers here, the beef has an off taste and I didnt finish the burger. As a foodie, I was thrilled to see that they were using Martin's hamburger buns because everybody except New Mexico food store owners knows they're the best for burgers. The burger looked decent and the choice of toppings were good. Again, it was just the taste of the beef that won't have me coming back :( Fries were good for shoestring fries... not my type but they were good. Pricing was a bit high for those fries. If they change their beef, let me know and Ill try again!

Okay, my pinon caramel shake was pretty good. Ordered for 3 people. All of the burgers were in the same box and they would not tell me which was which. For as much as they cost, the burgers are very small. At first I thought they were giving us sliders. If you like your food to have flavor, this isn't the place for you. I thought everything except the shake was very bland. Basically, this place just made me wonder why nobody can seem to open a decent place in Santa Fe. I no longer have hope when a new place opens here.

I was just looking at the menu posted and a very friendly fellow popped his head out of the "I COOK" window and said he could help (as opposed to "asking" me if I needed help.). That kind of set the tone for me and this burger/shake joint -- in a good way; a different approach with a certain kind of confidence. So, I told the guy that I REALLY wanted the Hatch green chile grilled cheese (like the one on their menu) but sadly, he said they aren't serving it right now... Boo... :( this fellow told me their only vegetarian option at this time is a mushroom burger. Didn't really want a mushroom, so I passed and got some fries and a shake. The shoestring fries were good BUT at $3.75, they should be outta this world. I'll try the fries again if: -they lower the cost -increase the portion -make me float up to heaven and drift back to earth like a leaf in Fall (3 stars) The shake? Really good and I'd say and worth the $5.75. I got the total chick flavor, Lavender. Great flavor + a little fiber (yep, there's lavender buds in the shake). Didn't pop for .50 for malt (a weird flavor combo, you know). But will surely try other flavored shakes with the malt (I ADORE malts!!!) It was creamy, tasty and suckable through a straw. A few ice bits but still pretty darn good. (4 stars) Hopefully on my next shake stop they'll have that green chile grilled cheese to boot!

We had the turkey burgers and a ginger lemonade. The meat had an average and decent flavor, the rest of the burger was truly a joke. It had two "oh so tiny" slices of tomato, and two slices of iceberg lettuce about 2" in diameter. We ordered them with grilled onions, which was about 1 tablespoon of diced warm onion. The lemonade actually tasted like Minute Maid out of a carton. Could not detect even a hint of ginger. I really would have liked to give this place a good or even fair rating. We are long time residents of Santa Fe and always try to support local businesses. It's not too late to make changes. A good start would be a slightly larger burger, instead of the "just above a slider" size. Also, a bit more generous on the tomato, lettuce and grilled onions. As it is now, this place is definitely not a place to enjoy a burger. I've noticed since the summer tourists are arriving, Shake Foundation has done a brisk business. Brings to mind that you can fool most of the people, most of the time.

First of all If you're a tourist looking for a "classic" green chile cheeseburger, go to Blake's. If you want the best burger in Santa Fe, to to Bang Bite. That being said:! The milkshakes are just weak. Almost entirely milk. When I showed the cashier its pure liquid state he said that's how it should be before begrudgingly adding another scoop of ice cream, which then tasted like it might have been the first one put in. The burger is unremarkable aside from the fact that it's tiny. Also don't forget to name every single thing you want on your burger or it will just come as bread and meat, something they only told me when I came back asking for some lettuce tomato and onion. Not the worst, but far from the best.

The best shakes ever!!! The milk is organic and definitely comes from happy cows. My two personal fav flavors were caramel sea salt with pinon nuts and the lavender shake with real lavender bud. Totally addictive and amazing. They have classic flavors like chocolate malt and vanilla but why get something so humdrum when you can have a coconut milkshake? Green Chile cheese burger and shoestring fries were tasty too. The shake foundation also donates $ to local art foundations that help local children in the area, so you can feel good about those indulgent ice cream shakes :)

So this was not the down home green Chile cheese burger I was looking for. The Chile was great, the meat was very bland and omg teeny tiny burgers. I thought I was paying for a full size burger and what I got was a slider....not to mention the bland fries which cost just as much as the burger!! If you need a green Chile burger fix you'll get more bang for your buck at Lotaburger. .. The shakes were decent, however they still did not have any of the ingredients for the specialty shakes available. So we had vanilla which was just as yummy as any other vanilla shake. If this place hopes to survive in they need to lower their prices or kick up their flavor and portions!

Definitely an OK place. There are few things that keep this from getting more stars. I would say the food is just average. The green chili-cheese burgers I have had are pretty bland. The meat has almost no flavor and the patties are small and the chili is not anything close to hot. For just a little more money I think the burgers at Tune-Up or Joe's Diner are way better. The fries here are pretty good as are their shakes. It is popular especially around lunch time. It would be nice if you could place your order ahead of time because my typical wait is 15 minutes for a order consisting of a burger and fries. However to place an order ahead of time you need to order $20.00 worth of food and you must prepay. I can't think of any place that has such a restriction on phone orders, I guess they don't really want to take them. Too bad, it isn't a bad place to get a burger, it just takes too long to make it a good grab-and-go place for lunch.

Love this place, The burger is a soft juicy mass of beef, jack cheese and green chile with a buttered bun. They say it is all local ingredients, whatever it is, it's delicious. All of th flavors sort of come together in a mass, love it. I really think the price is just fine for this level of quality, I think 3.95 for this burger is a deal, I do usually order one for lunch and two at dinner time, skipping the fries. That is one negative point, I really don't care for the extremely thin fries, I prefer a little more bulk. Haven't tried a shake yet, but friends say they are delish.

First of all, they come off as being very negative when the first thing they tell you is there is a $20.00 minimum and you must use a credit card. My burger was great although the menu says that the "garlic mayo" is free they charged me $1.50 extra. I think that is a little high. The french fries were great! Crispy and tasty. Will definitely go back, although a little on the pricey side.

Ok folks, seriously. Yes it is true their presentation and marketing is great but the food and price just don't hold up! The burger was $4 and it was the size of a slider. I mean, I have now problem with sliders but the price should reflect the portion. The meat was perfectly average. The bun was plain, very white, and so very below average. How can anyone be complimenting it? Then the milk shake was $6 and it tasted like carmel milk. Huh? I thought I ordered an ice cream milk shake?!? This was a huge disappointment. My advice to the owner is to start over. Revaluate the menu, lower prices, and throw a few promotional days with freebies to test the food out/ build a client following. You need to invest some before you can make some. You can also raise prices later. So, if slider size is shake foundation's "thing" then price the burger in the dollar range. This is especially true if you want to market the business towards high school kids. High school kids are hungry and they can't afford a $4 slider. I know this is Santa Fe and we have an affluent community. This still doesn't mean people will pay more for less. There are far too many other better options in town to waste time on this kind of mediocrity. I say revaluate before it is too late! In the mean time, I think I will save money get a perfectly acceptable burger at Blake's or maybe I will spend a bit more for something spectacular at Santa Fe Bite. Now, that's a place that is worth the money.

The burgers are amazing....if they can remember to put on the tomato and lettuce. The fries, divine...if they are not over cooked and cut so thin that they crunch like potato chips... The Shake Foundation is riddled with constant inconsistencies. The food is made with great ingredients. Too bad the service and hospitality do not match. I have had lunch here on SEVERAL occasions. The burgers are very good. But sometimes you are greeted with a coherent cashier, other times met with a blank face. Sometimes the fries are luscious and great, other times crispy and dry. Sometimes the burgers have lettuce and tomato, sometimes only a patty. Often times I have even experienced a rude interaction with management toward staff, staff, or possibly the owner themselves. This place is a disappointing toss up, wither way you roll the dice. Too bad. Hope they get it together, shake foundation would be a welcome and needed new hot spot in Santa Fe.

If every place treated their last customer of the day this well & with this attention to detail-wow! All I wanted was dinner & instead I received a meal with layers of flavor & sincere service. Already shut down the speciality shakes, no problem they threw in the biscochittos alongside my shake. Never mind the mixed reviews of the burgers (which I think are unfair -- maybe we're so used to eating additives that our sense of taste has become adulterated), the fried oyster sandwich I ate yesterday was out-of-this-world. Well maybe not entirely cause I kept thinking the rest of the day about when I lived in New Orleans. Every bite was different. Better than authentic. Are the sandwiches a bit smaller? Sure, but maybe our sense of portion has became adulterated as well. Is it great quality for the price? Absolutely. There is also much charm in the presentation & packaging. Why only 4 stars? Cause I'm not crazy about the fries. Good flavour but are a bit too literally like shoestrings -- too thin & limp. They should have a little more body & some should have a little crisp. And there should be recycling options for the cardboard, paper waste.

First time my wife and I stopped at Shake Foundation. We tried the green chili cheeseburgers and shakes. We arrived early for lunch and were surprised that they were already out of 4 of the 7 flavors of ice cream advertised for their shakes. If they aren't going to stock what they advertise, they should at least change their sign. The food was decent. We were pleased to see the shakes were made from organic ingredients from a local creamery. The green chili on the burger tasted good and had just the right amount of heat. By the time we finished our burgers, I noticed one of the employees finally brought the ketchup dispenser out to the self-service condiment counter. Glad I wasn't on the mood for ketchup today! Considering how early we arrived and how few customers they had, we were surprised at how long it took to get our order. Maybe they are still trying to get their act together, and I hope they are a success, but their product ordering and service look like it needs fine tuning.

We ate here for the first time yesterday and loved it. Can't say I get how someone could call the burgers "flavorless." They tasted just like a real burger containing real meat should taste. And as for "small," what people aren't getting is that the meat patty is probably the same weight as any other burger they're getting around town at the same price. It's THICK instead of THIN. And a thick patty makes for a juicy, yummy burger, which this is. Second, most places these days give you inferior meat and add "flavoring" in hopes that you won't notice. This was REAL meat. The buns, rather than being something you just eat with a burger, were incredible. We absolutely loved every bite of our burgers. The hand-cut fries were crispy and to die for. Like the burgers, if you are offering real food, you don't have to add a cupful of spices to make it taste good. Our shakes were incredibly rich. Expensive, but any shake made from hard ice cream "imported" from Taos would be. Chocolaty enough to satisfy any craving. Great meal here, albeit at a price: (2) great double-cheeseburgers, blueberry Taos Cow shake, Stumptown Cold-brew coffee + a green-chile stew. Total: 27.30$. Coffee was phenomenal. Taos Cow shake is more of a DQ Blizzard than anything else. Green chile stew seems over-salted like nearly every restaurant/cafe "stew". In the future I'll do just the (2) double burgers + a shake. I'll accept the 18$ opportunity cost. That's a small price to pay for happiness. Cutting out the extras makes Shake F more reasonable. This place closes early which is annoying and goofy, typical of NM where nothing adheres to national standards. Oregon's Little Big Burger is open to 10 PM, NY-based Shake Shack is open till MIDNIGHT in some locations.

I finally checked this place out after hearing so much talk about it. I ordered the single green chile cheeseburger, the single shoestring fries, and a shake. $15 and change for all that. I was prepared for the cost and was hoping the food would be worth it. Instead, the fries were so thinly cut that cooking them turned them into crunchy shaved potato chips. I'm not really into shoestring fries but there were no other side items to order. The burger was TINY. I do not mean small, I mean White Castle-sized burger. And for $4 I expected something that at least looked pleasing. The taste was average, neither bad nor great. The only part of the meal I enjoyed was the shake. Since it comes from Taos Cow ice cream it would have been hard to mess that up. Immediately afterwards I drove down the street to the McDonald's on the corner and ordered the green chile cheeseburger off their dollar menu and small fries. Guess what? For only $3.23 you get the same amount of food, much better tasting fries and a burger that is on par with the Shake Foundation. McD's buns aren't so great but the patty with the green chile was the same. So save yourself the grief of being ripped off and head elsewhere for a much better burger (no, not McD's). There are plenty of places around Santa Fe that do it right. Shake Foundation is not one of them.

If you're still wondering whether to hit up the Foundation, clearly you missed the NYTimes piece lauding it. The NYTimes doesn't tell lies. OK, they maybe sometimes do, but not this time, friends. Not this time. The Foundation delivers. And if you're not into it? No worries! Take your bad vibes elsewhere! The Foundation gets plenty of business from people who love it with all of their hearts. After my birthday meal at Santa Fe Bite, I figured that I would sample another green chile cheeseburger. When am I going to be in Santa Fe again? Who knows! Might as well hit up another burger. I decided to come down here and try their version out. This place is incredibly similar to Shake Shack back East. Same simple kind of menu, and the same vibe. If it could be close to as good as their burgers, I would be happy I placed my order for a Double Foundation Burger. My total was just over $7.00. I grabbed my buzzer and took a seat on a picnic bench. My order was up and here is how it was........ Double Foundation Burger- This burger was a simple and straight forward burger. It had 2 patties of beef, melted jack cheese and green chiles. The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped this thing from the wax paper was the nice sheen on the bun! This burger looked delicious. It was a semi small sized burger. You could see the melty cheese, the green chiles, and the juicy grilled meat. All of this was placed between a soft potato style bun. I took a bite and was semi impressed. The cheese was nice and melty, the green chiles were hot, and the beef was decent. The beef reminded me of Smashburger (I'm not a big fan of Smashburger). It was a bit oily? A tad too greasy and not "beefy" enough. This burger was also piping hot. Almost too hot to eat! It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't amazing. Service was friendly from both the lady who took my order as well as from the guy who handed me my order. Not sure when I will be in Santa Fe again, so the likelihood of coming back is slim to none. I really liked the cheese and chiles but the meat was just o.k.

Sorry, only 1 star. Sadly, what many of reviewers have said is true about the dead-fish enthusiasm from customer service. I'm sure it would be a great job if they didn't have to deal with the danged customers. It could be a great burger joint-it has all the necessary requirements-yet it falls flat. Customer service aside, the burgers are just...bland. Meat tastes like it was boiled. Shoestring fries, while novel (and a knockoff of Steak-n-Shake), are good for about 3 bites before they get lousy. The Taos Cow shakes are a joke. For 6 bucks you get a 6 ounce shake. That's a small cup. Yeah it's "organic" but c'mon. I can buy a gallon of organic milk and 2 pints of organic ice cream for 6 bucks and make shakes for the entire family...big shakes. And I won't have to give them to customers in a plastic cup inside of another plastic cup (what's up with that, anyway?). Hey, Baskin-Robbins is right down the street and they don't even use "shake" in their branding. I like the idea of locally sourcing ingredients, and I don't mind paying extra for it; I just want more for my money, the quality implied, and a cheerful person taking my order. Not too much to ask.

Another Santa Fe Hipster Hangout. Decent hamburger for twice what it is worth. Long lines and nowhere to park. Fries are good. If you don't mind paying $25 to $30 for a slow fast food experience this is the place for you. Skinny Jeans a plus.

Pretty pricey for the quality of food you are getting. The French fries are unique but the shakes can't not be drank with a straw and are pretty icy.
