Good LORD!!!! The food here is horrible. When I walked in,I was impressed with the decor but sometimes, looks can be deceiving. We sat down and a lovely girl took our order. We got fried chicken fingers for my kids, and calamari, buffalo wings, and the crab cakes salad(ugh,we didn't even finish that),as well as the sweet potato fries. Let me tell you,it all SUCKED! How can you eff up sweet potato fries??? And their ketchup was so gross-just stick to Heinz. I give it two stars instead of one because the service was really good. Hire a new culinary chef, and make it better. Oh! Change of the name of 'Airplane Chicken' because I'll say,all the food here tastes like food you'd be served in coach.

Its a "must stop at.." when we are in Santa Fe. Excelltent food and service. Comptemporary furnishings. Attentive waiters. Always a highlight of our trip.

I'm not sure who the heck our server was, but he was a certified idiot. He was obviously brand new, and he was probably stoned too. He couldn't remember any of the 5 choices they had for beer on tap, and it took him 10 minutes to bring me a Blue Moon, and another 20 minutes to bring us chips and queso after we had to ask about them and he admitted that he forgot them. The food was decent, but not worth the price I paid for it. Their green chile might as well be a bell pepper for how much heat it had. I also don't think it's too hard to check on a table after you screwed up the beginning of the meal, after he dropped off the chips and queso we didn't see him again until my boyfriend's burger was a bunch of crumbs on his plate and I wanted the bill to get the heck out of there. You will not catch me there ever again.

Try the Tuna burger-excellent! They'll put it on whole wheat if you ask! Avocado spread works well! Wasabi tops it off! Sweet potato fries are good as well-new mgmt seems to make a big difference-

The food here is amazing! The staff was friendly from the minute we walked in. I ordered the Hawaii meets the southwest chicken, it was delicious! If you eat here you will not be disappointed!

Santa Fe Capital Grill is a jewel in the historic, Part of Santa Fe, NM. Inside, Capital Grill is both light and dark because of lighting and white reflecting mirrors. The dining area is both private and open atmosphere with booths lining walls, a few tables in the center and a beautiful bar. This local restaurant is deceiving because beyond the main room are other dining areas and patio. You see I'm not the biggest fan of people. I hate crowds too. I especially hate crowds at places that I like or want to go to. This works out for places like Disneyland because I don't really wanna go there and there are lot's of mouth breather's there too. It also works out for Capital Grill because while it is a Santa Fe staple and very popular, it's not always busy and crowded with the herd. Positive reviews on Yelp can only hurt this fantastic situation methinks. Alas, my love for the place far outweighs my fear that it will become ever increasingly popular with the masses. Simply put, this place is amazing. Very low key, relaxed and unpretentious. It is what it is. And bottom line, it's got a surprisingly large menu and I've had just about everything there, and there's not one item that I didn't flat out love. Usually they're playing news and/or sports there so that works for entertainment in case your company isn't very entertaining. Plus they serve beer on tap! Which is always a very good thing. Great, simple food done well in a very easy going setting. This is how you do diner food.

I really enjoy the food here. It's the one real place to eat on the south side of Santa Fe that offers a nice selection of different food. The service can be super slow since I think they are understaffed but the food is consistently good. The homemade potato chips are great! The salads are good & burger are delish!

We've lived in Santa Fe for fourteen years, and the dinner we had tonight at the Capitol Grill was the worst we've ever had in this city that is full of great restaurants. Because of the restaurant's proximity to a movie theater, we took out-of-town guests. A "medium-rare" steak and a hamburger were both burnt black; the quinoa-stuffed sweet potatoes had corn rather than quinoa. These were the worst, not the only, disasters of the evening. One guest said the only meal he ever had that was worse was in East Berlin. Another guest said his only worse eating experience was a meal in India that made him deathly sick. Skip this place, for heaven's sake!
(1)Uriah W.
The place has awesome food and the atmosphere is lively and fresh. The place opens up that side of town to being more trendy and social, something this town desperatly needs. Minus one star because the management keeps hiring vato staff!

I drove to Santa Fe from Phoenix to take my family on a vacation. It just so happened to be Valentine's day so understandably it was busy. Not line out the door busy, but 15 minute wait busy. We were fine with this because quite frankly that's the norm for any evening dinner in Phoenix. I chose the Capitol Grill because on my last trip to Santa Fe the food was great and the service was quite good. Unfortunately on this trip it was not. The food was still fantastic. If I could have tipped the chef I would have. However my service was terrible. The hostess decided to seat us at a high top near the bar. For my wife and I that would have been fine. However we had our 4 year old with us and the high seating coupled with no backs on the chairs made it far less than adequate. The server seemed to have little to no interest in helping us. This seemed to continue with a family they had seated across from us as well. However he seemed to be a bit more attentive to visitors without children. We had to go find him several times for refills, getting the check, and getting my bank card back. Each time he had been located near the bar talking with coworkers and watching the Olympics. For the experience I had the more I reflect on it, the more disappointed I am. Although the food is good, it doesn't make up for the lack of service, especially for the money you pay.

The atmosphere is nice, almost modern in feel. Windows provide a view and ambient light. There are booths as well as high tables. The bar is covered in brushed steel leaving a clean and beautiful dining surface. This is clearly a resturant built around the bar. It's a beautiful stage with plenty of room. The food is good and the Chile hot. This time I had 5he patty melt, it was cooked perfectly! They could probably start serving ketchup in a bit larger containers everytime I run out and have to bother someone for more. The drinks are well mixed even if they are a bit pricy. There is a good selection of beer and a healthy supply of liquor to suit all of your needs.

Have eaten here many times before the new management took over...and it was nice, but never great. Tonight the prices were great, food was very good, and manager was very attentive and quickly worked to correct a mistake in the cooking of my chicken as soon as he saw it placed at my table. I wish the kitchen or server would have noticed, but the manner in which it was then handled was professional and very prompt. I accepted the original chicken, but once the new plate arrived (which will be lunch tomorrow), I couldn't have been happier to see how the situation was handled. I do not always send things back, but before I could, the situation was handled. Thank you! Look forward to coming back more often.

My boyfriend and I had tried this place a couple of times before because it is close to our house, but it was always disappointing. However, it seems they are under new ownership so we decided to stop in for $5 mimosas and to grab some brunch. It was delicious! We were both impressed with our food and will definitely be going back more often.

I had a pretty terrible experience at Capitol Grill. I came here to meet friends after they had already been here an hour, expecting them to be solidly through or done with their meal. They were still waiting. The waiter seemed both stressed without support but also 'under the influence'. Drinks didn't show up for 40 minutes or were the wrong item, items came out in nonsensical orders, etc. While my appetizer was just okay, my friend ordered a fairly expensive steak and stopped after 1 bite. The seasoning and flavor made it inedible. I made her send it back even if she was too nice. I'm not sure what was going on that night, but it was chaos, food to forever and ended up being either cold or downright terrible. The waiter did try to make things up to us knowing things weren't going well (took the steak off, etc.) but it was not good at all.

I live on the South side of Santa Fe, close to the Capitol Grill. I'm happy to report that, after years of seemingly endless ownership/management changes that prevented this restaurant from living up to its potential, Capitol Grill is not only under new ownership, but has a new executive chef. I've had the pleasure of meeting Bill, the new owner, and Chef Luis, and I can safely say that with these two industry veterans now running the show, the Capitol Grill is finally in good hands, and firing on all eight cylinders. Any reviews that are less than two months old are irrelevant at this point. I most recently visited Capitol Grill this week, starting off with a South of the Border Shrimp cocktail, and I must admit, I was a bit nervous. Here's the description from the menu: "Poached shrimp, tomato broth, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cucumbers, avocado & lime juice, served with crackers and tortilla chips." This is clearly not your grandfather's shrimp cocktail. I've always felt that when a chef tries to improve on classic dishes, the results can often be underwhelming. A good example of the perfection of simplicity might be pasta with butter and cheese. Try to improve on that and you have an equal chance of hitting or missing. This one was definitely a hit, a very nice twist on this old standby, and it looked as good as it tasted. This was followed up with a very nicely done red chile roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, whiskey creamed corn, and tomatillo salsa, and for dessert, an excellent butter cake with crème anglaise, with vanilla bean ice cream. I also sampled two of the fourteen craft beers they have on draft, the La Cumbre Elevated IPA, and the Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, both excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. If you haven't visited Capitol Grill recently, or if this is your first time, it's a great time to stop in for a casual lunch or dinner in their comfortable dining room, at the bar, or, weather permitting, on their outdoor patio with indoor/outdoor bar. Say hello to Bill and Chef Luis. They are both very hands-on, personable, almost always on-site, and happy to see you, which is more than I can say about the previous owners. PS: As always, my rating is based on how well this specific restaurant does what they set out to do. Capital Grill is not trying to be the fanciest or most expensive restaurant in Santa Fe. It's a high-end, casual restaurant, without the high-end prices, and they are at or near the top of my list.for SF dining destinations in that category.

Capitol Grill has a nice feel to it and I so wanted to like it, but unforunately, even three stars is generous. I started off by asking for a Dark n' Stormy and the waiter said he wasn't sure if they had it. My dad's wife orders a Campari and Soda and my dad the SF Brewing Company lager. Waiter returns, tells me no D n' S, bu that they can make a Moscow Mule. That's hilarious. If you know either drink, you should understand why. I accept the Moscow Mule as a consolation prize, mostly because I don't like being a pain in the ass. Drinks come. Mine is weak and seems devoid of vodka. My dad's wife's drink is Campari and coke rather than soda. Yikes! And my dad's lager is watered down and flavorless. Not the SFBC that I know. We order the calamari, which is good, nothing mind-blowing, but the red chile worked into the batter and the spicy and sweet sauce make it enjoyable. I ordered the green chile cheese burger with bacon and sweet potato fries. It comes quick enough, but aparently not quick enough, because the burger I ordered medium is in fact wellllll-done. Even with the bacon and the green chile, it still tasted bland, overcooked and chewy. My fries were just regular. I ate a few, then got bored of them. Everyone else seemed to like their dishes, but they lost me for the most part. The only reason I'd ever come back here is because it's got some class and seems like a good place to meet someone for a drink. However, even that notion is a bit of a stretch when you consider how poorly the bartender fared with our drinks.

Came after the lunch rush on a Thursday. The hostess greeted us and was nice. Although the server was very slow even though he only had 2 tables. The cornmeal trout was plain and did not have flavor. Nothing to Yelp about.
(3)Jennifer W.
We have been eating here since the restaurant opened both as a family of 4 and with groups of friends. They have just completely changed the menu and gotten rid of multiple, long-standing items such as the chopped salad, veggie panini and steak sandwich which were good and we would always order. If you've never been before and don't have any expectations, you'll probably like it.

A really unfortunate experience. We went Friday night May 2, just before closing. And yes, we fully admit it was 10:45 and knew they closed at 11 so were expecting they might say we couldn't be seated or something similar. The hostess asked the bartender who said she had just made "last call" but if we came in right now (3 of us), they'd seat us and we could order drinks AND food, but needed to do it asap. Fine. When we sat we were literally accosted by a furious server. I'm sure she wanted to go home and we understood that. She sighed several times aloud while waiting literally 30 seconds for one of us to quickly scan the beer menu, and then found it necessary to repeat several more times, "this is it, you know, if you don't order now I can't bring it to you (re: food)". Yep, we knew that already. Ordered something quickly at which point she said, "so you know I'll be bringing your ticket with your food". Great. To say that she "dumped off" the food and drinks at the table is pretty accurate. Clearly she was angry at the bartender or hostess who sat us because she even said, "wait, you can't get anything because it was already last call". She wasn't happy when we told her what the others said. So we ate, grudgingly, finished our drinks and were out by 11:30. As 3 locals, who have wide circles of friends, I'll tell you for a fact, NONE of us will bother with Capitol again. It's just not necessary. There are tons of choices in Santa Fe. Not many are open late, but have the same closing time as Capitol. Believe me, I'd rather go anywhere else.

This place is lipstick on a pig...very nice decor..modern, comfortable.. however I have been there @4 times now and every time I swore I would not return...This time... I decided a yelp review was in order... Basically, the service was horrendous. The wait staff was so unknowledgeable about the menu... had know idea what was in the dishes, or the sauces... he said the pasta had a creamy sauce... it was white wine and lemon, not a spec of cream..sour and salty and full of inedible woody stems from thyme and rosemary... We had an hour to eat before our scheduled movie at 730( which I told the waiter - after waiting 25 min to order..) Every one at our table was served each of their plates 5-7 min apart from one another ( like one was served then 5 min pass then the next plate etc. etc. for 5 of us) in all my life I have never seen that.. More than 25 min from the first plate put down to the last..And the icing on the cake- ALL ( as in every single one) the food was served STONE cold... In the end my food was served last at 720,we asked for the check as we were eating, I scarfed my food down as it was now 10 min before the movie and we needed to buy tickets.. The food wants to be good, it sounds interesting and creative...but such a lack luster performance.. and super overpriced... COLD CRAPPY FOOD FOR 18 DOLLARS HA! and tiny portions example.- 5 little shrimp on a 1/3 of a cup of rice and a tablespoon of sauce on top....this place just pisses me off. A disgrace to "nice" restaurants. CAPITOL B BAD

Wanted a quick lunch to make our flight back home, and was greeted and seated right away! Had the salmon burger, buffalo burger with Mac and cheese! It was so delicious!!! Also a great wine and beer selection !! We were out and on our way within forty minutes! Wait staff was very friendly and attentive! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!!
(5)Tiffany A.
Mediocre at best. Me and my honey always come to Capital City when we have a movie date. We are usually pretty satisfied when we come but this time was particularly bad. Our server was very neglectful of us. We always order the same thing, a turkey panini, kind of like thanksgiving in a sandwich, with sweet potato fries. Pretty good and pretty hard to screw up. Well they managed. Our panini'a arrived cold and soggy the turkey was so salty and the fries burnt and cold. We told our server we wanted to make a movie and she took forever to get our drinks, food and ultimately check. Not impressed at all. Atmosphere is nice for south side Santa Fe but the bad service and food just killed it for us. We ended up missing the movie and will not be back for a whole if ever.
(2)Stephen B.
When we arrived my wife asked the hostess if they had a gluten free menu, she showed us that entrees which were marked with a star on your regular menu were gluten free. Based on this, my wife ordered a farmers salad, and mentioned to our server (Victor) that her food needed to be gluten free. Salad arrived, it was beautifully presented and looked good. Partway through the salad my wife discovered croutons under the lettuce, which were definitely NOT gluten free. As I write this, my wife is laying in bed with stomach and joint pain plus a headache from a gluten reaction - all because apparently Capital Grill's staff does not understand the concept of "gluten free. This is a definite downer on this weeks vacation.
(2)Krishnarpita B.
Loved the food and service, very quick service and food quality is great, highly recommend
(5)Donna B.
I was not impressed by Capitol Grill during a dinner visit over the weekend...the place seemed to be understaffed & overworked... the beer orders got messed up and the price of food for portion was out of proportion... and they forgot an order of french fries. The staff was friendly and apologetic but we will not be returning here. There are so many amazing restaurants in Santa Fe... and this is not one of them.
(2)Jamie L.
Didn't actually get to eat here because the service was so bad. It took over ten minutes to be greeted. I'm a pretty patient person but the service here is just too awful to even wait for the food.
(1)Losh T.
I gave this place a generous 2 stars. Went there twice because I thought to give them the benefit of the doubt.. nope, food still sucked. First time was a over cooked burger that had a lake appear when you held it. Absolutely everything was soggy; from the bun to the fries on the plate. Okay, I'll try something off the grill this time I thought. Also a bad decision, pork tenderloin was WAY over cooked and really salty. I would have sent it back if it didn't take me 30 min to get chips and salsa and another 45 min to get the main course. To sum everything up: the service sucked really bad, and somehow the food was worse. Pretty impressive to be so bad. Hmmm... maybe I should have done one star???.
(2)Stacy R.
Horrible service!!! Walked in and the hostess didnt say hello. Got seated and took about 10 minutes to have someone take our drink order. We've now been waiting over an hour for our food. I just went to ask about the wait and was passed by from the hostess and our server. The server couldn't tell us if the seasoned fried were seasoned. What a joke!!! The food is good but not worth the price or the wait. Would NOT recommend.

OK, I eat lunch at Capitol probably 5 times a month, for business. My wife and I have a glass of wine here probably 5 times a month at the dinner hour. I bring out of towners here. I am not sure I understand all the feedback about lousy service. I find the people really helpful, and like anywhere on earth, there might be occasional lapses. I do not like when people get all Prima Donna on us about one visit or so. Anyway, Patrick, the manager, comped us our drinks last night--he knows we come all the time, comes over to visit, and just naturally GETS how to do his job. I am a huge fan of Seth Godin and Tony Hsieh, and am kind of a stickler about customer service. I am all for having Capitol Grill in Santa Fe (it is a very NOT Santa Fe-like place, which is a nice change of pace sometimes!) Quit your bellyachin'. OK, it is kind of expensive. That is why I do not give it a 5. But it is doing a great job and filling a niche no other place in Santa Fe fills, especially on the South Side..... Oh, and you know what I love? The diversity of the clientele. Old White guys, hip young Latinos, Native groups, people with dreads, people with ties, young, old---THAT is cool, and it helps people realize that the sterotypes of the South Side are not accurate. You can see that, too, by all of the business and restaurants and bars moving in there. The South Side is more than nail shops, my friend. (Though we can help you there, too!) Oh, yeah, and Jude (spelling?) is the best waiter person in the history of the world. He will be the manager or CEO of something some day. He has more social/emotional intelligence than the next ten people you will meet put together...) jim
(4)Rebekah M.
Happy hour appetizers should come WITH the drinks, not 15 minutes later, don't you think? When they did come, my friend's bruschetta was drowning in vinegar. No wait staff was to be seen on the patio, so I had to telephone the restaurant. My fish tacos were uninspired, but the Mangorita was pretty good. The other redeeming quality is that they let my dogs stay on the patio with us and brought them water. Waitress was sweet, but not a real good server. Coffee was very good.
(2)Evan B.
I have been enjoying the service at Capitol for a few years now and have had only the best of experiences. Their full-bar and knowledgable staff make each visit both unique and satisfying. Recently, my visits have begun to increase with the introduction of Capitols vegan gluten-free options; specifically the vegetable curry.
(5)MJ S.
Food is pretty good, especially the fish tacos. My girlfriend ordered a steak to her liking, no sauce or added toppings, just a steak. The server said the chef couldn't serve the steak without his "fabulous" sauce on the side. Tip: Pass on the sauce! Atmosphere is good. A number of booths and tables. Cant speak for the bar as i don't drink. Service could be better. Everything is way overpriced!
(3)Tessa J.
First time visit, great experience. I had won a gift certificate, even though it was awarded by the previous owner, the new owner still honored it. Menu is very modern and extensive. We will be back again to try the dinner menu. Restaurant is clean and the wait staff is polite and attentive.
(4)Mike C.
Menu has definitely changed a lot. New burgers are some of the best in town. Fish and chips are also really good. Margaritas were fresh and tasty.
(5)Leila Z.
As always, Capitol Grill meets my expectations. Our waiter, Miguel, stayed on top of everything. Their burgers are delicious, cooked to order and well priced. In my experience they have the best sweet potatoes in town! I strongly suggest swinging by for lunch or dinner.
(5)Robert N.
Great place. Kinda slow for business, but it snowed the day I was there. Brenda and Miguel were very friendly and welcoming. Had the Beef Filet , very delicious with the green chile sauce. I would recommend very much, next time my eyes are set on the pork.
(5)J S.
A couple weeks ago my hubby and I ate here for our anniversary dinner. We had ordered lunch take out from here several months before and enjoyed the food but it wasn't anything to write home about. Our dinner though was a much better experience. I had the steak medallions. They were cooked perfectly. Hubby ordered tons of appetizers since we happened to be there during happy hour and apps were a great price. He enjoys variety. :) I also enjoyed their raspberry mojito. It was sweet and delicious! -------- This dessert update is for Bill, the owner. My husband ordered the butter cake. So incredibly delicious!! I ordered the fried ice cream not realizing it was coated in toasted coconut. I can't stand coconut. LOL We brought the desserts home with us otherwise I would have sent it back. We didn't see a dessert menu and ordered through the waiter telling them to us. Maybe they should be specific about what is on the dessert or just give us a menu. All in all though, very satisfied with everything!
(4)carol B.
We have been here many times. The best night to go is Wednesday. The best, and only place to sit...if you want some semblance of intimacy is a booth. The waiter charged us incorrectly for the desserts. This wouldn't have been so bad except he tried to,point out that he had not charged us for the birthday freebie???but then proceeded to overcharge us for each of the other desserts. Bad form! Everyone's dinner was good except for mine, the birthday 'girl' . do NOT order the grilled cheese. Also, if you order the macaroni and cheese side, make sure you ask for it hot, and with a side of cheese dip to pour over it. Otherwise it is as dry and as tasteless as a bone. Literally. My grandson figured out the dip, since this was his dish (so ignore the previous statement re. Everyone else's dinner! Hamburgers: good. Chicken fried chicken: ok to good. Mahi Mahi: good. Ruby trout: good (HUGE!). Grilled cheese sandwich: MEH! ( how can you screw up grilled cheese?)
(3)Chris B.
First time and it was was very good. Had ahi tuna and Mahi Mahi both well worth the stop. Yes I would definitely come back.
(5)Eric And Jennifer R.
Good place to have business meetings. Appetizers are ok. Service is average. The decor is hip and modern. Food is inconsistent each time we eat there for business meetings.
(3)Jerrold R.
Would not come for lunch. Took them 15 minutes to seat us when the restaurant was empty. Then it was another 15 minutes to take our drink orders. Ordered burgers cooked medium they came out very well done. Service was pretty bad and no one cared. I usually come for dinner a lot but today they were not on top of their game. Not too sure if I will come back.
(1)Mary C.
We go to the Santa Fe Capitol Grill when we find ourselves on the south side of town--usually after having gone to the movies and needing food and beverages in a relaxing atmosphere. The menu is eclectic and interesting. I tried the habanero-tomatillo chicken enchiladas and my husband had the patty melt. Both dishes were generous and succulent. We both had the Beaujolais nouveau which at happy hour prices was a great deal. Our waiter Miguel was helpful and attentive without being intrusive. I heartily recommend the Capitol Grill for after-movie or after work libations and snacks.
(5)Betty R.
HORRIBLE!!! The service is very hit or miss, as it is with the food. You can either get great, friendly service or unbelievably rude and lazy servers. The food can be good or it can be absolutely terrible with tiny servings. Like I said, VERY hit or miss...
(2)Michael B.
I have never had to send back a Ceasar salad before. It was extremely poor quality lettuce and lacked any flavor. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich. It was DRY and COLD, which matched the fries it came with. One of the others at the table had a "B salad" which they liked very much. Service was also poor. The server made four errors in the order and there were only four of us at the table. Generally nice atmosphere but the four of us (all in our 40s) were not "hip" enough to avoid being put in the corner of the kid's room even though there were plenty of other tables. Bad Food, Bad Service, Ok Atmosphere... There are many good places in Santa Fe that should keep you from wasting your time and money at this spot.
(1)Joe L.
The food is always prompt and great with excellent service. The servers and the managers are very attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet. I prefer the work of the day chef myself. However that is not to say that the night chef is any slouch. The day is preferable due to the fact that the chef is comfortable enough to try out new recipes on the daytime clientele. The menu is varied and well priced. Give this place a shout before or after you go see a movie across the street. Or anytime you feel like good food and service.
(4)Antoine A.
The service was excellent. The food was amazing!
(5)Chelsea F.
We gave this place so many chances. My husband is a movie lover, and so we are on a dinner and movie date almost weekly. We would eat at capitol often, and it was never great but kept coming back because of the location. We are restaurant owners so we are very forgiving, but their was always something wrong. The food is over priced and not anything special, the service is mediocre at best and it can take forever to get drinks. It became common place for them to bring us the wrong dish, and we gave up on ordering red meat because it was never cooked right. But what sealed the deal was when we walked in 30 minutes prior to the time they were supposed to be closed (open signs still on) and we were told they were closed and that we couldn't be served. Done and done. We haven't been back.
(1)G S.
Plus: a good (if limited) choice of beers on tap, plus a happy hour. Outdoor seating area nice enough, inside looked nice too (though didn't get a good look). Negative: lackluster service, special not as advertised, marginal food. My experience: slow to be served, order arrived incomplete, questioned server who seemed to make up a lame excuse for the reason a chicken thigh was not a half chicken. sent it back and manager arrived, apologetic, but passed the buck, blaming his kitchen crew (so unprofessional). Chicken was greasy, rice looked like it came from an Uncle Ben's box. Poor presentation. Totally overpriced. Bottom line: if you need a trendy place for a drink on the south side of town, perhaps okay. otherwise stay away.
(1)Danny Q.
I really wanted to like this place. The menu certainly looked good with a wide assortment of the standard grill fare. The ambiance inside was great, I loved the darkened look to it, the music seemed like it was a selection of my own favorite CDs (Paul Oakenfold's Bunkka, Massive Attack) and everything was great. If I could have held that in my head I would have been happy. The restaurant was not full and there were many tables open. Our waiter was nice enough but far from attentive. We would go a long time without seeing him. The food took a long time to get out. When it was served it was cold. I'm sure their food would be better if it was warmer. I had the New York strip cooked medium. It came out exactly as ordered save being slightly luke warm. The straw fries were also about the same temperature. It could have been explainable had one of the items been warm. My girlfriend ordered the panini grilled cheese with "tomato soup." I thought the soup tasted like the makings of a tortilla soup, but she swore it tasted exactly like it came out of a can of Wolf Brand Chili. Other little things really created problems. When our food was brought out the soup had no spoon and the steak had no knife. It seems like they have something against salt and pepper as no one had it. When it was finally delivered the bottom of the salt-shaker was covered in ants that went scurrying around. Yuck! It's possible they could have had an off night, but it was enough to keep me from wanting to go there again. Maybe if a friend insists that they have completely turned themselves around I will give it a try. Until then, steer clear.

This is such a wonderful addition to the Santa Fe restaurant scene. Santa Fe Capitol Grill is a fabulous restaurant on the southside of town. Try the Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash (quinoa, spinach, corn, almonds and the most scrumptious fig sauce.) This is a healthy vegetarian dish from heaven!

I've been here a few times now and have enjoyed my experience...the menu is a little excessive and big...I never know what to choose from. I tried one of my friend's chicken wings and fell in love. They have a sweet sauce that is just amazing! The bartender, Bri, is great too! She really knows what she's doing and always brightens the restaurant with her smile!

Nice ambiance for Santa Fe. Décor is chic contemporary with a big city edgy feel. Food is very tasty and a reasonable price, with entrees ranging from $9 - $22. Drinks are well made.

The Grill was recommended by our hotel manager. He was right on when he told us about this eatery. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Alissa greeted us warmly and had a great sense of humor. Our waitress was wonderful and so was the food. We ordered five appetizers and were so surprised at how great they were. We hope to go back again for more great tastes before we leave Santa Fe.

I've been wanting to try this place out for a while, but the prices have always left me a little dismayed. So as a test I went by there today in an attempt to get a simple salad... I must say that the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. I ordered the Santa Fe Grilled chicken salad with no croutons and the vinaigrette salad dressing on the side. Well, it came with the croutons, and was missing the avocado, and cost $14... I'm giving this establishment an extra star because they have free WiFi...

The Trailer Ranch RV suggested this place. Our party of four stopped in on Thursday night. We were seated promptly (at a table, which was our request!) Our waiter, the store manager and even the cashier when we were on our way out were ALL very attentive and accommodating. Each of us tried a different meal and we were very satisfied They were very busy, but we were served our drinks & meals promptly.. Parking close may be an issue, if the Theater parking lot is full. We really enjoyed our expereince and would highly reccomend it you are in the area.
