Nice place for a quick lunch. I had a shrimp dish, which was a daily special, that included black beans, rice and tortilla chips (small triangular shape, may have been homemade). The shrimp was supposed to be blackened, but the pan must not have been hot enough because the shrimp was covered in an oily chili powder. The black beans and rice were good. Also, no complimentary chips and salsa--which seems inherently wrong. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the server was pleasant and prompt. My glass was never less than half full. I will be back, but will go with a more traditional new mexican dish.

If you like your New Mexican slightly fancy and restaurant-y, go here. If you like the more traditional, possibly more authentic "dives" in your Mexican/New Mexican, hit up the dozens of restaurants on Cerillos Road. This restaurant tends toward the fancier end, but the food isn't all that wildly different, and it's slight more expensive. I posted a reservation on Open Table (for one, boo hoo life of a consultant), and the place was empty, save for one other couple on a Thursday evening at 6. My first wild disappointment was the fact that there was no chile rellenos on the menu. No matter, I ordered the enchiladas with green chiles (there was no option for "christmas" chiles) and a Negra Modelo. In the very least, my food came out at a legitimate time that made me feel like it was being freshly prepared, instead of just waiting in a simmering pot or under a heat lamp. My plate was delicous: enchiladas (with veggies), green chile (not that spicy, however), rice and refried black beans (nice for a change) and a few Fritos for that New Mexican touch. Later I was accosted by the host to double-check if I was the Open Table reservation. I told her, yes, that I had mentioned this to two people in the restaurant already, and that she was on the phone when I arrived (and made no mention to acknowledge me then), and then gently chided me that Open Table might send me a nasty email. Please, let me enjoy my meal. I don't care if I renege on my Open Table reservation, which I most patently did NOT. If you can't communicate with the staff, that's not my problem. It was annoying. Besides, the restaurant was empty. Ugh. The food is very good here, and, for the most part, so is the service. But these "fancy" places are just not as authentic, as enjoyable, nor as cost-saving as the dozens of delicious dives you'll find on Cerillos Road. (But Mucho Gusto probably has someone reading these Yelp reviews, so please, if you are the owner of this place, I'm not interested in reading a message from you. PLEASE don't reply. Your food is good, this review is just a spit in the bucket.)

We went on a Friday evening because it was next to our lodging (Inn on the Alameda). We went fairly late, around 8:30pm. It's pretty small but a fair amount of tables were occupied. We were seated immediately. And waited. And waited. And waited.... and were about to leave while watching staff busing tables, serving others, and standing around, with not so much as an "I'll be right with you" or a glass of water. At the moment when we were getting up, finally our waitress came over, so we stayed. We ordered their house margaritas. Then noticed the table next to us - who were seated after us and ordered after us - got their drinks, the same that we ordered! We waited MORE for our drinks. We ordered chips and guacamole - no free chips and salsa here. It was pretty good. I ordered the cheese enchiladas. They came with beans and rice. When I got my plate, it looked like half of my plate was just melted cheese and chilis. There was no enchilada to be found. When fishing around, I found a semblance of a tortilla but it still was almost only melted cheese with some green chilis. The beans and rice were ok. We finished our drinks but were not offered another, nor dessert. Just brought our check. Ok, we will leave instead of spending more money! I felt really sick after this meal. It didn't sit right at all. Definitely would not go back.

Great place! Went here on recommendation of our hotel -- nearby, delicious and reasonably priced. It was all that and more. Pork tenderloin burrito was to die for. It was fried (instead of baked), not topped with melted cheese. I should have tried Enchiladas/Tacos. But prices were cheaper as compared to nearby walking distance restaurants.

A little hard to find -tucked away on the back side of a small plaza with no view from the roads. We were on foot, so found it quite easily. Seems like an efficient, family run kitchen with a bit of a flare over the traditional rice and retried menus that are common here in SF. Don't read me wrong, the traditional menu is there and pretty dominant, but there are above the bar offerings, too. "The Bomb" chicken is a good example... Specials are offered daily, so skip the menu and go with the waiter's suggestions... Like the grilled garlic shrimp. We found the service efficient and timely, with no noticeable delay or inattention, as others have suggested. Have been there twice on busy nights and have left feeling like we were given more than we had expected. Pleasant surprise.

My family and I had just arrived in Santa Fe and were absolutely exhausted. We searched up Mexican food and this seemed to be the only reasonably priced place downtown. I'm so glad we gave this place a chance. We arrived 15 min before it closed and the waitress was so welcoming and helpful. Tucked away half way between Canyon Road and the Plaza area of downtown Santa Fe is a real gem of a Mexican restaurant in terms of hospitality, cuisine and ambiance. Located at the back of a parking lot behind the Giving Tree gift shop, Mucho Gusto is hard to find at first - but well worth the effort. We enjoyed a perfect dinner with extremely attentive and friendly service in the relaxed and well appointed dining room. I enjoyed the chicken flautas, served with sour cream, guacamole, and tasty beans and Mexican rice. Perfect! My spouse enjoyed a chicken burrito and found it excellent, too. The real treat, though, were the desserts. Last night the chef offered a coconut flan (in addition to their traditional almond flan) and it was without question the best flan I have ever enjoyed. Glen enjoyed the chocolate ice cream pie, and not a crumb was left. Although not as upscale as some noted Plaza restaurants, you will find this the perfect place for a quiet dinner, a family gathering, or a romantic spur of the moment date.

We dropped in here for a late light lunch - we had eaten breakfast late and were saving room for dinner. Decor is sparse - typical strip mall decor - but service was good. I ordered a salad and my husband ordered the soup of the day, called something like linguico. We started with chips and salsa which were clear winners - mixed chips with tomatillo (green) and red sauces. The tomatillo sauce was amazing...one of the reasons for the 4 star rating. As another reviewer mentioned, it is terrible that the chips and salsa was not free however, we encountered this a number of times at other restaurants in SF. The orange mustard vinaigrette on the salad was good and my husband's soup was very good. We returned the next day for another lunch. This time, I had the grilled vegie enchiladas with beans and rice and my husband had the grilled chicken tacos and asked for only rice. Instead, the server brought only beans...oh well. Both were filling and flavorful. I'd almost award 4 stars but the slip up with the beans and the decor caused me to rate 3 stars.

We stumbled upon this place because of yelp. It was completely empty, which generally makes me nervous in a restaurant, but they're also unfortunately located in the back of a shopping center. We started with the guacamole and salsa trio which was excellent. The chips were thick and crispy. I got the veggie enchiladas with green chili and rice and black beans. Everything was awesome and the black beans were HOLY HELL good. My husband wasn't very hungry so he got chalupas (pork) and he was very impressed. The only thing that turned us off slightly was the price. It surprised us a bit that we spent over $50 on lunch. It made sense once we saw the itemized list, but it was a little pricey.

Be happy? I don't think so Mucho Gusto. With good Yelp reviews, we headed to lunch on the weekend at 1/4 full. Chips & Salsa @ $3.95? Salsa should always be gratis. Red sauce was more sweet than spice and the green was the clear winner. Even with the guacamole @ $7.95, the portions were extremely small. So far I'm not impressed. Bring on the Queso Fundido for a whopping $9.95. With Chorizo, we thought it would be some Happy Cheese. We were wrong. No flavor at all. Nice and bland. The green chili hamburger special sounded good but we opted for Chicken Enchiladas, Shrimp Tacos, Quesadillas and I picked the Suiza Enchilada with the green, tomatillo sauce. With 5 our of 6 plated delivered as ordered (Shrimp Enchaladas was mistaken and desiguesd as chicken. We sent it back for the correct order), I noticed the Shredded Chicken Enchilada look similar to mine with a nice verdi sauce. The Suiza has a little spice but the full flavor of the other is much better. The feta is a bad idea on top enchalada and tacos. Why not cotija like everyone else? The chipotle mayo in quesadilla was odd too. We're hearty eaters and no one finished their plates. I would not return to this bland, disappointment of over priced poor service. Compared to what's available in this town, Mucho Crapo is almost a 1 star. The fact that none of us got sick, I'll give it two stars but you should not waste your time. Go to Maria's instead for better food, lower prices and all the free salsa you can pour on.

Following the rave reviews here we had dinner at Mucho Gusto and sadly found it to be mediocre compared to other places in Santa Fe like the Palacio Cafe which is fantastic though it lacks ambiance. We each had the specials: I had the fish tacos which were salmon (good) and shrimp (tiny frozen shrimp with no texture). The corn tortillas had no flavor so I dumped the taco filling onto the beans. My husband had the pork fajitas and reported they were about like any other Mexican restaurant. Maybe the regular menu is better?

I went with the reviews I found on Open Table and I'm sad to say I should have kept searching. This place was OK but I have had better in Santa Fe. I went for a romantic evening dinner for Valentine's Day and was a little disappointed. The ambiance could use some work and the service was just "ok". The food was fine and the agave wine marg was tasty. It is a nice place in a pinch but definitely not for a romantic evening that you want to be "wowed" on.

Fantastic! You have to do a little detective work to find Mucho Gusto. You'll find it tucked back it the far corner of a common parking lot. FIND IT!! It's worth it. The staff is very courteous and prompt, the food is fresh and they have a bit of a twist with a lot of their plates. Because it was my first time, I had to have the grilled sirloin, mushrooms, and onions cooked in red wine burrito w/ green chili so that I could compare it to the other restaurants (I was on a mission). It was wonderful and the green chili was the best I've had in Santa Fe. (I should have ordered an extra side . . . I'm a glutton for green chili . . .). My husband had the Suiza Enchilada with tomatillo sauce and feta crumbles. I just had a bite, but it was also terrific. If we had more time, we would have revisited Mucho Gusto. It's a must for anyone visiting Santa Fe.

Wonderful dinner tonight at Mucho Gusto. Husband has the Pasilla Negra Shrimp, I had the Veggie enchiladas and son had the sirloin tacos. All entrees were served with black beans , rice, pico de gallo. We started with the chips, salsa, guacamole appetizer and margaritas on the rocks. The drinks were the perfect blend of sweet lime and tequila. Guacamole was fresh, and flavorful with chunks of tomato and jalapeños. Wonderful service and waitress eager to help us with dish selection. It is located off the street in the corner of a parking lot on Paseo de Peralta but has ample parking and is within walking distance of the Inn on Alameda and the La Fonda on the Plaza. We will dine here again to sample the lamb tacos and Veggie and Tofu fajitas.

Stopped through Santa Fe for a night on a road trip and was looking for a great hole in the wall restaurant with some friends. Definitely found it :) It was a little confusing to find at first - off the street with the entrance in the courtyard parking lot, but the interior was clean, well lit and homey with some Mexican art accents. Service was friendly, nicely attentive and fairly quick. They had a handful of nice quality and reasonably priced beers and wine available as well as margaritas. We didn't try the wine or margaritas but the beer was good. The food was also very reasonably priced for the portions and quality and the recipes were simple without lacking options or being boring entrees. The menu also featured a few more traditional dishes not found in larger chain "mexican" restaurants. All the orders came in exactly as we ordered and tasted wonderful. Great little place, would definitely go again and recommend!

On a busy Sunday Thanksgiving evening, we decided to come here for dinner since all the other places in Santa Fe were overcrowded. And I am glad that we chose to come here. This place is hidden somewhere in the back and it took us quite a few u-turns to finally spot this place. Their service is good, somewhat homely and we were attended to very quickly. For starters, we had their tortilla soup(their soup of the day) which was fine to taste. For the main course we had their salmon and the stuffed chicken. Both were very delicious and we were happy with our choice, but you really need to have a good appetite to finish off the entire plate. Both the chicken and the salmon were accompanied with the usual selection of salsa, black beans and sour cream. Food is slightly overpriced but for the quantity served, this can be excused. I would give this place: 4 stars - for the food, 3.5 stars - for the ambience, 3.5 stars - for the service.

After tired of eating overpriced not-so-good food on the Plaza and faced with a 2 hour wait each night at The Shed, we drove around aimlessly and never would have found this place without my handy dandy Yelp App! This is a TRUE authentic Mexican food, family owned and operated and very reasonably priced. We had the chips and salsa which comes with freshly fried tortilla chips and a delicious lime tomatillo salsa and traditional red salsa. I had an agave wine margarita - wonderful! Everything was delicious, especially the refried black beans which we could have eaten as a meal themselves they were so good. We had house salads, chicken tacos, sirloin burrito and the flan for dessert. Our bill was $54 and compared to what we have been spending around town for awful food this was the BEST restaurant we have found so far in 3 days here! ADDED BONUSES - No wait, seated right away, food out quickly and the customer service was hands down the BEST we had during our stay in Santa Fe. Our waitress, Pauline, was so attentive and our glasses were always full. ~ Off Paseo De Peralta between E Alameda St and E Palace Ave - turn in between store fronts and head all the way to the back of the parking lot. You cannot see it from the street!

Everybody around us seemed to be ordering the fajitas so they must be good, but don't go without trying "The Bomb". It was a chicken breast stuffed with cheeses and poblano pepper with the most incredible sauce. My husband said it was one of his top 3 meals of all time! I stopped in for an early dinner (5:30 on a Monday) and the place was empty except for one other party, so my review will be a bit skewed. Service was still a bit high pressure, trying to get me to start out with the $8 guac and chips. No thanks. I was starving after driving down from Denver, so I got the taquitos and the lamb tacos.Too much food? Definitely, but what can you do? The taquitos were great, fresh and hot, although the accompanying chile de arbol sauce could have been much much spicier. The lamb tacos were ok, but the sauce was sickeningly sweet. To be fair, the menu DID say that they came with a sweet red Chile bbq sauce. The accompanying rice was tasteless, and I don't eat beans, so the refried beans went to waste. $24 is a lot for one person, but this was lunch and dinner for me. The place is clean and I don't anticipate feeling sick from the food tomorrow, so it's a 3 star review for me. Not bad, not great. I'd go back for the taquitos.

I read reviews about this place on Trip Adviser. The food was fantastic!! I ate the special of the day, pork burrito with a wine sauce topped with green chili sauce. The refried black beans were so yummy!! The guacamole was so fresh and light, mixed with the salsa- such a treat! We also tried the Santa Fe brewing company beer. I had the Pale Ale and it was so good!! It is a small cozy place. The service was awesome. Price was pretty fair.. with few beers an appetizer and meals it came out to $56.. On a recent weekend trip to Santa Fe I wanted a light dinner, & this restaurant was close by to the B & B I was staying at. I was not very hungry, so rating 3 stars was kind of arbitrary.But I wasn't terribly impressed w/ this place. I was dining solo and the Host seemed a bit weirded out by that as he led me to my table. -----I had a small salad, fresh but SMALL & a side of retried black beans..,. Tiny portion. It seemed they didn't get that I was not being cheap, I just wanted a small healthy meal.... Well .....SMALL I got! Service was good, place was clean..... Great little casual Mexican place with delicious food. I had the shrimp fajitas which came out sizzling hot and the fajitas fresh out of the oven. Although I do wish the shrimps would be scampi /larger and more of them since they were one of the more expensive dishes on the menu. My husband had the green chili cheeseburger which was served with homemade waffle fries which were yummy and fries were seasoned well and crispy. Tucked in the back of a parking lot, In the back of the back of a parking lot in the last store is mucho gusto. I sure am gled we stuck with it and went all the way back and found it. The staff was most polite and helpful and really nice, genuinely nice. That reads through clear as a bell. and that is priceless. The tacos, enchiladas and soup were enjoyed by the others at my table! well for reasonable good food, this is nice. If you want to pay a lot move for a lot more atmosphere - well that is your choice. I don't know what the other reviews are complaining about; I found the decor clean and colorful. Yes, they don't give you free chips and salsa - this is not a chain restaurant. Really good food. I had the Orange Tequila Shrimp... it was very interesting, they served it w/ black beans and rice, over a bed of corn chips. The Tequila sauce was a really nice change of pace from most shrimp dishes. You've gotta get a Santa Fe Brewing Co. beer while your here, or while your in NM for that matter. Great beer, i had a chance to try the Brown Ale and the Pale Ale while I was @ Mucho Gusto. Service was good and price was average, not cheap like they said on Trip Advisor.

Mucho Gusto is a good restaurant with good, efficient service and good food. I'm only giving it three stars because, although I liked it and enjoyed my meal, I wasn't that excited by it all. However, I think the meat dishes may have been more fun and my husband quite liked his burrito with grilled sirloin and green chili. Still, if you're downtown and want a place, within walking distance, that still manages to be away from the madding crowd, this is a solidly good place to go to.

This place was a major disappointment. It was recommended by a local in the restaurant biz, but we found it to be boring - food and decor. The lamb tacos with sweet chile sauce were way too sweet. The turkey in the turkey mole enchiladas was nothing more than turkey and salt, the plate was cold and the mole tepid. The sangria was mostly orange juice. The decor was white tile tables, white chairs, and lousy art. The only music was the tinny radio coming from the kitchen. Sweetie and I will not go there again.

We live in Santa Fe part of the year and have never tried this Restaurant until tonight. After walking by many times we looked it up on Yelp. The reviews were good so we followed their suggestions and went for it. The service was above and beyond some of the higher end restaurants in Santa Fe and the food was REALLY good for the price point. If you want to walk from town to have a good meal this is a good choice. The ambiance is a place where you would expect to see mostly locals, not tourists, like the Shed. It is very simple but very clean and casual. (the white tile tables are clean and functional) You can always pay more for nicer tables but the food may not be as good! We took the advice on Yelp and paid for the chips and guacamole and it was well worth it!....very good. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and I had the grilled chicken quesadilla, both were wonderful. We will be back soon for sure! We would rather pay for good food and skip the fluff and better furniture etc....

I recently visited Santa Fe and ate dinner at Mucho Gusto on my first night in town as it seemed to be one of the only restaurants open after 8pm on a Sunday. I had the a margarita and the vegetable chalupas. Both were good; the chalupas especially were a nice change of pace as one doesn't find them on the menu at every Mexican restaurant. Two chalupas, one in a yellow tortilla and one in blue, filled with sauteed veggies, including sqaush, and topped with cheese, sour cream, and sauce. I also had the margarita pie, which was more like key lime. Overall, I enjoyed the meal but found it to be slightly overpriced.

We went here for lunch -- it's a surprising place hidden off the street. Walk in and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Started with chips and two kinds of salsa, very fresh green tomatillo and another red salsa (sorry can't recall then name of it). Good mix of flavors in both I enjoyed the shrimp special -- comes with black beans, rice, grilled veggies, and a quite unique salsa on the side. I agree with one of the other reviews that the flavors are so distinct and they do not just mush together. It's an explosion of taste. My mother had the bomb, which she's enjoyed many times and keeps coming back for more. It was her recommendation. Not an extensive menu, just the right amount of options to choose from when you want a good mexican meal.

Counter to many places in Santa Fe, Muchos serves a good working person's lunch. Many places in Santa Fe are touristy, and this definitely is not one of those places. Service is fast. This place gets a bit busy during lunch, but they seem to be able to handle the volume. I usually get the El Grinder sandwich, a salami sandwich that can be had hot or cold (have it hot). My second fav here is a sandwich that can best be described as Thanksgiving on a roll. It is a turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberries. They service a lot of places through call in which can make the place busy, even when there are no crowds.

Nice place for a quick lunch. I had a shrimp dish, which was a daily special, that included black beans, rice and tortilla chips (small triangular shape, may have been homemade). The shrimp was supposed to be blackened, but the pan must not have been hot enough because the shrimp was covered in an oily chili powder. The black beans and rice were good. Also, no complimentary chips and salsa--which seems inherently wrong. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the server was pleasant and prompt. My glass was never less than half full. I will be back, but will go with a more traditional new mexican dish.

If you like your New Mexican slightly fancy and restaurant-y, go here. If you like the more traditional, possibly more authentic "dives" in your Mexican/New Mexican, hit up the dozens of restaurants on Cerillos Road. This restaurant tends toward the fancier end, but the food isn't all that wildly different, and it's slight more expensive. I posted a reservation on Open Table (for one, boo hoo life of a consultant), and the place was empty, save for one other couple on a Thursday evening at 6. My first wild disappointment was the fact that there was no chile rellenos on the menu. No matter, I ordered the enchiladas with green chiles (there was no option for "christmas" chiles) and a Negra Modelo. In the very least, my food came out at a legitimate time that made me feel like it was being freshly prepared, instead of just waiting in a simmering pot or under a heat lamp. My plate was delicous: enchiladas (with veggies), green chile (not that spicy, however), rice and refried black beans (nice for a change) and a few Fritos for that New Mexican touch. Later I was accosted by the host to double-check if I was the Open Table reservation. I told her, yes, that I had mentioned this to two people in the restaurant already, and that she was on the phone when I arrived (and made no mention to acknowledge me then), and then gently chided me that Open Table might send me a nasty email. Please, let me enjoy my meal. I don't care if I renege on my Open Table reservation, which I most patently did NOT. If you can't communicate with the staff, that's not my problem. It was annoying. Besides, the restaurant was empty. Ugh. The food is very good here, and, for the most part, so is the service. But these "fancy" places are just not as authentic, as enjoyable, nor as cost-saving as the dozens of delicious dives you'll find on Cerillos Road. (But Mucho Gusto probably has someone reading these Yelp reviews, so please, if you are the owner of this place, I'm not interested in reading a message from you. PLEASE don't reply. Your food is good, this review is just a spit in the bucket.)

We went on a Friday evening because it was next to our lodging (Inn on the Alameda). We went fairly late, around 8:30pm. It's pretty small but a fair amount of tables were occupied. We were seated immediately. And waited. And waited. And waited.... and were about to leave while watching staff busing tables, serving others, and standing around, with not so much as an "I'll be right with you" or a glass of water. At the moment when we were getting up, finally our waitress came over, so we stayed. We ordered their house margaritas. Then noticed the table next to us - who were seated after us and ordered after us - got their drinks, the same that we ordered! We waited MORE for our drinks. We ordered chips and guacamole - no free chips and salsa here. It was pretty good. I ordered the cheese enchiladas. They came with beans and rice. When I got my plate, it looked like half of my plate was just melted cheese and chilis. There was no enchilada to be found. When fishing around, I found a semblance of a tortilla but it still was almost only melted cheese with some green chilis. The beans and rice were ok. We finished our drinks but were not offered another, nor dessert. Just brought our check. Ok, we will leave instead of spending more money! I felt really sick after this meal. It didn't sit right at all. Definitely would not go back.

A little hard to find -tucked away on the back side of a small plaza with no view from the roads. We were on foot, so found it quite easily. Seems like an efficient, family run kitchen with a bit of a flare over the traditional rice and retried menus that are common here in SF. Don't read me wrong, the traditional menu is there and pretty dominant, but there are above the bar offerings, too. "The Bomb" chicken is a good example... Specials are offered daily, so skip the menu and go with the waiter's suggestions... Like the grilled garlic shrimp. We found the service efficient and timely, with no noticeable delay or inattention, as others have suggested. Have been there twice on busy nights and have left feeling like we were given more than we had expected. Pleasant surprise.

My family and I had just arrived in Santa Fe and were absolutely exhausted. We searched up Mexican food and this seemed to be the only reasonably priced place downtown. I'm so glad we gave this place a chance. We arrived 15 min before it closed and the waitress was so welcoming and helpful. Tucked away half way between Canyon Road and the Plaza area of downtown Santa Fe is a real gem of a Mexican restaurant in terms of hospitality, cuisine and ambiance. Located at the back of a parking lot behind the Giving Tree gift shop, Mucho Gusto is hard to find at first - but well worth the effort. We enjoyed a perfect dinner with extremely attentive and friendly service in the relaxed and well appointed dining room. I enjoyed the chicken flautas, served with sour cream, guacamole, and tasty beans and Mexican rice. Perfect! My spouse enjoyed a chicken burrito and found it excellent, too. The real treat, though, were the desserts. Last night the chef offered a coconut flan (in addition to their traditional almond flan) and it was without question the best flan I have ever enjoyed. Glen enjoyed the chocolate ice cream pie, and not a crumb was left. Although not as upscale as some noted Plaza restaurants, you will find this the perfect place for a quiet dinner, a family gathering, or a romantic spur of the moment date.

We dropped in here for a late light lunch - we had eaten breakfast late and were saving room for dinner. Decor is sparse - typical strip mall decor - but service was good. I ordered a salad and my husband ordered the soup of the day, called something like linguico. We started with chips and salsa which were clear winners - mixed chips with tomatillo (green) and red sauces. The tomatillo sauce was amazing...one of the reasons for the 4 star rating. As another reviewer mentioned, it is terrible that the chips and salsa was not free however, we encountered this a number of times at other restaurants in SF. The orange mustard vinaigrette on the salad was good and my husband's soup was very good. We returned the next day for another lunch. This time, I had the grilled vegie enchiladas with beans and rice and my husband had the grilled chicken tacos and asked for only rice. Instead, the server brought only beans...oh well. Both were filling and flavorful. I'd almost award 4 stars but the slip up with the beans and the decor caused me to rate 3 stars.

We stumbled upon this place because of yelp. It was completely empty, which generally makes me nervous in a restaurant, but they're also unfortunately located in the back of a shopping center. We started with the guacamole and salsa trio which was excellent. The chips were thick and crispy. I got the veggie enchiladas with green chili and rice and black beans. Everything was awesome and the black beans were HOLY HELL good. My husband wasn't very hungry so he got chalupas (pork) and he was very impressed. The only thing that turned us off slightly was the price. It surprised us a bit that we spent over $50 on lunch. It made sense once we saw the itemized list, but it was a little pricey.

Be happy? I don't think so Mucho Gusto. With good Yelp reviews, we headed to lunch on the weekend at 1/4 full. Chips & Salsa @ $3.95? Salsa should always be gratis. Red sauce was more sweet than spice and the green was the clear winner. Even with the guacamole @ $7.95, the portions were extremely small. So far I'm not impressed. Bring on the Queso Fundido for a whopping $9.95. With Chorizo, we thought it would be some Happy Cheese. We were wrong. No flavor at all. Nice and bland. The green chili hamburger special sounded good but we opted for Chicken Enchiladas, Shrimp Tacos, Quesadillas and I picked the Suiza Enchilada with the green, tomatillo sauce. With 5 our of 6 plated delivered as ordered (Shrimp Enchaladas was mistaken and desiguesd as chicken. We sent it back for the correct order), I noticed the Shredded Chicken Enchilada look similar to mine with a nice verdi sauce. The Suiza has a little spice but the full flavor of the other is much better. The feta is a bad idea on top enchalada and tacos. Why not cotija like everyone else? The chipotle mayo in quesadilla was odd too. We're hearty eaters and no one finished their plates. I would not return to this bland, disappointment of over priced poor service. Compared to what's available in this town, Mucho Crapo is almost a 1 star. The fact that none of us got sick, I'll give it two stars but you should not waste your time. Go to Maria's instead for better food, lower prices and all the free salsa you can pour on.

Following the rave reviews here we had dinner at Mucho Gusto and sadly found it to be mediocre compared to other places in Santa Fe like the Palacio Cafe which is fantastic though it lacks ambiance. We each had the specials: I had the fish tacos which were salmon (good) and shrimp (tiny frozen shrimp with no texture). The corn tortillas had no flavor so I dumped the taco filling onto the beans. My husband had the pork fajitas and reported they were about like any other Mexican restaurant. Maybe the regular menu is better?

I went with the reviews I found on Open Table and I'm sad to say I should have kept searching. This place was OK but I have had better in Santa Fe. I went for a romantic evening dinner for Valentine's Day and was a little disappointed. The ambiance could use some work and the service was just "ok". Fantastic! You have to do a little detective work to find Mucho Gusto. You'll find it tucked back it the far corner of a common parking lot. FIND IT!! It's worth it. The staff is very courteous and prompt, the food is fresh and they have a bit of a twist with a lot of their plates. Because it was my first time, I had to have the grilled sirloin, mushrooms, and onions cooked in red wine burrito w/ green chili so that I could compare it to the other restaurants (I was on a mission). It was wonderful and the green chili was the best I've had in Santa Fe. (I should have ordered an extra side . . . I'm a glutton for green chili . . .). My husband had the Suiza Enchilada with tomatillo sauce and feta crumbles. I just had a bite, but it was also terrific. If we had more time, we would have revisited Mucho Gusto. It's a must for anyone visiting Santa Fe.

The drinks were the perfect blend of sweet lime and tequila. Guacamole was fresh, and flavorful with chunks of tomato and jalapeños. Wonderful service and waitress eager to help us with dish selection. It is located off the street in the corner of a parking lot on Paseo de Peralta but has ample parking and is within walking distance of the Inn on Alameda and the La Fonda on the Plaza. We will dine here again to sample the lamb tacos and Veggie and Tofu fajitas.

Stopped through Santa Fe for a night on a road trip and was looking for a great hole in the wall restaurant with some friends. Definitely found it :) It was a little confusing to find at first - off the street with the entrance in the courtyard parking lot, but the interior was clean, well lit and homey with some Mexican art accents. Service was friendly, nicely attentive and fairly quick. They had a handful of nice quality and reasonably priced beers and wine available as well as margaritas. We didn't try the wine or margaritas but the beer was good. The food was also very reasonably priced for the portions and quality and the recipes were simple without lacking options or being boring entrees. The menu also featured a few more traditional dishes not found in larger chain "mexican" restaurants. All the orders came in exactly as we ordered and tasted wonderful. Great little place, would definitely go again and recommend!

For what we had, pretty good. Stopped in mid-afternoon for a few appetizers; chips and salsa were good (red is good, not spicy, tomatillo -aka- green, was delicious) and the queso fundido was also good. Fundido is the basis as to why this place is getting a 3-star and not a 4. Though the tomatoes and poblano peppers add some flavor, it's as though something was still missing. Pretty good, still, however it's the lowest rated queso fundido I've ever had.

We were looking for something really good, casual and convenient to the Plaza on our first night visiting Santa Fe. We hit the jackpot with Mucho Gusto. The blue tortillas and salsa were delicious, as were the enchiladas we both ordered. The Suiza Enchiladas with chicken were light and creamy, and the verde salsa was tangy and perfectly hot. His Mole Poblano Enchiladas were rich and savory. High marks for Mucho Gusto.

On a busy Sunday Thanksgiving evening, we decided to come here for dinner since all the other places in Santa Fe were overcrowded. And I am glad that we chose to come here. This place is hidden somewhere in the back and it took us quite a few u-turns to finally spot this place. Their service is good, somewhat homely and we were attended to very quickly. For starters, we had their tortilla soup(their soup of the day) which was fine to taste. For the main course we had their salmon and the stuffed chicken. Both were very delicious and we were happy with our choice, but you really need to have a good appetite to finish off the entire plate. Both the chicken and the salmon were accompanied with the usual selection of salsa, black beans and sour cream. Food is slightly overpriced but for the quantity served, this can be excused. I would give this place: 4 stars - for the food, 3.5 stars - for the ambience, 3.5 stars - for the service.

Went for lunch and was thoroughly underwhelmed. Decor is severely lacking when you consider the prices...small small guacamole was $9 and chicken enchiladas were $15....the food wasn't bad but very average TexMex....without enough oomph to it. I much prefer Maria's which at least serves free chips and salsa!!!

Thank you Yelpers for helping us find this hidden gem! After tired of eating overpriced not-so-good food on the Plaza and faced with a 2 hour wait each night at The Shed, we drove around aimlessly and never would have found this place without my handy dandy Yelp App! This is a TRUE authentic Mexican food, family owned and operated and very reasonably priced. We had the chips and salsa which comes with freshly fried tortilla chips and a delicious lime tomatillo salsa and traditional red salsa. I had an agave wine margarita - wonderful! Everything was delicious, especially the refried black beans which we could have eaten as a meal themselves they were so good. We had house salads, chicken tacos, sirloin burrito and the flan for dessert. Our bill was $54 and compared to what we have been spending around town for awful food this was the BEST restaurant we have found so far in 3 days here! ADDED BONUSES - No wait, seated right away, food out quickly and the customer service was hands down the BEST we had during our stay in Santa Fe. Our waitress, Pauline, was so attentive and our glasses were always full. ~ Off Paseo De Peralta between E Alameda St and E Palace Ave - turn in between store fronts and head all the way to the back of the parking lot. You cannot see it from the street!

I think it's over-rated. First of all, getting to this place is a challenge. We had soup of the day , Grilled Salmon al Mojo de Ajo & Stuffed Chicken Breast. The dishes were actually good. Soup average . Service a bit slow.

Wow!!! This little out of the way restaurant was recommended to us by a local and they were right on! Our service was fabulous - only to be topped by the food itself! Everybody around us seemed to be ordering the fajitas so they must be good, but don't go without trying "The Bomb". It was a chicken breast stuffed with cheeses and poblano pepper with the most incredible sauce. My husband said it was one of his top 3 meals of all time! I had the Orange Tequila Shrimp which was also delicious, but I kept sneaking bites of the Bomb! I swear if I lived in Santa Fe I'd be going here weekly!

I stopped in for an early dinner (5:30 on a Monday) and the place was empty except for one other party, so my review will be a bit skewed. Service was still a bit high pressure, trying to get me to start out with the $8 guac and chips. No thanks. I was starving after driving down from Denver, so I got the taquitos and the lamb tacos.Too much food? Definitely, but what can you do? The taquitos were great, fresh and hot, although the accompanying chile de arbol sauce could have been much much spicier. The lamb tacos were ok, but the sauce was sickeningly sweet. To be fair, the menu DID say that they came with a sweet red Chile bbq sauce. The accompanying rice was tasteless, and I don't eat beans, so the refried beans went to waste. $24 is a lot for one person, but this was lunch and dinner for me. The place is clean and I don't anticipate feeling sick from the food tomorrow, so it's a 3 star review for me. Not bad, not great. I'd go back for the taquitos.

I read reviews about this place on Trip Adviser. The food was fantastic!! I ate the special of the day, pork burrito with a wine sauce topped with green chili sauce. The refried black beans were so yummy!! The guacamole was so fresh and light, mixed with the salsa- such a treat! We also tried the Santa Fe brewing company beer. I had the Pale Ale and it was so good!! It is a small cozy place. The service was awesome. Price was pretty fair.. with few beers an appetizer and meals it came out to $56.. It is a great place to grab lunch if you are in Santa Fe!

On a recent weekend trip to Santa Fe I wanted a light dinner, & this restaurant was close by to the B & B I was staying at. I was not very hungry, so rating 3 stars was kind of arbitrary.But I wasn't terribly impressed w/ this place. I was dining solo and the Host seemed a bit weirded out by that as he led me to my table. -----I had a small salad, fresh but SMALL & a side of retried black beans..,. Tiny portion. It seemed they didn't get that I was not being cheap, I just wanted a small healthy meal.... Well .....SMALL I got! Service was good, place was clean..... But as all places in Santa Fe, overpriced for what you get-- Bearing that in mind , i would go back in a pinch, but overall kind of a "lackluster" experience.

Mucho Gusto was a gem of a find on Yelp! What a great meal my family and I had. The guacamole and green tomatillo salsa appetizer was such a hit we ordered 3! The enchiladas, burritos, and fajitas were fabulous; really authentic. And, our server, Pauline was perfect. Her smile, warmth, and personality made our dinner experience the perfect way to start our vacation in Santa Fe. Not only did we love the meal we made a new friend in Pauline. Stop there, eat there, and ask for Pauline. Highly recommended.

Great little casual Mexican place with delicious food. I had the shrimp fajitas which came out sizzling hot and the fajitas fresh out of the oven. Although I do wish the shrimps would be scampi /larger and more of them since they were one of the more expensive dishes on the menu. My husband had the green chili cheeseburger which was served with homemade waffle fries which were yummy and fries were seasoned well and crispy. Waitress was very friendly and made sure everything was excellent. The one star missing is for decor. You don't need to spend a lot to update your place and this place really do need updating!

A hidden gem in SF. The green chili is off the charts, but only for the brave of tongue. It is very hot. Wine margarita is ok, a little sweet for a tequila guy. Atmosphere is pure old school new Mexican, nothing fancy but clean.

Tucked in the back of a parking lot, In the back of the back of a parking lot in the last store is mucho gusto. I sure am gled we stuck with it and went all the way back and found it. The staff was most polite and helpful and really nice, genuinely nice. That reads through clear as a bell. and that is priceless. The food was well prepared, I really liked my coconut shrimp and blue tortilla taquitos. The tacos, enchiladas and soup were enjoyed by the others at my table! well for reasonable good food, this is nice. If you want to pay a lot move for a lot more atmosphere - well that is your choice. Me - I am going back for more pico de Gallo!

A great find for real Mexican food in Santa Fe! Tucked back behind some small shops, this place has great service and amazing food. I don't know what the other reviews are complaining about; I found the decor clean and colorful. Yes, they don't give you free chips and salsa - this is not a chain restaurant. I loved the chicken "bomb".

Wow! One of my best meals ever. The "Bomb" is even better than expected -- we shared it on the waiter's recommendation. I had an incredible Sangria. Then we each had dessert. While my chocolate ice cream pie was very good, the Flan was the BEST--- incredible! Entire meal was 5-star!

Really good food. I had the Orange Tequila Shrimp... it was very interesting, they served it w/ black beans and rice, over a bed of corn chips. The Tequila sauce was a really nice change of pace from most shrimp dishes. You've gotta get a Santa Fe Brewing Co. beer while your here, or while your in NM for that matter. Great beer, i had a chance to try the Brown Ale and the Pale Ale while I was @ Mucho Gusto. Service was good and price was average, not cheap like they said on Trip Advisor.

Fantastic chill little spot. The service was some of the best I have ever seen (maybe it was just because it was slow, but food came out quickly and our waitress always had a smile on her face). All of the food was good. You probably won't be blown away by the food, but I would be shocked if you were ever disappointed. A great find.

Mucho Gusto is a good restaurant with good, efficient service and good food. I'm only giving it three stars because, although I liked it and enjoyed my meal, I wasn't that excited by it all. However, I think the meat dishes may have been more fun and my husband quite liked his burrito with grilled sirloin and green chili. Still, if you're downtown and want a place, within walking distance, that still manages to be away from the madding crowd, this is a solidly good place to go to.

This place was a major disappointment. It was recommended by a local in the restaurant biz, but we found it to be boring - food and decor. The lamb tacos with sweet chile sauce were way too sweet. The turkey in the turkey mole enchiladas was nothing more than turkey and salt, the plate was cold and the mole tepid. The sangria was mostly orange juice. The decor was white tile tables, white chairs, and lousy art. The only music was the tinny radio coming from the kitchen. Sweetie and I will not go there again.

We live in Santa Fe part of the year and have never tried this Restaurant until tonight. After walking by many times we looked it up on Yelp. The reviews were good so we followed their suggestions and went for it. The service was above and beyond some of the higher end restaurants in Santa Fe and the food was REALLY good for the price point. If you want to walk from town to have a good meal this is a good choice. The ambiance is a place where you would expect to see mostly locals, not tourists, like the Shed. It is very simple but very clean and casual. (the white tile tables are clean and functional) You can always pay more for nicer tables but the food may not be as good! We took the advice on Yelp and paid for the chips and guacamole and it was well worth it!....very good. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and I had the grilled chicken quesadilla, both were wonderful. We will be back soon for sure! We would rather pay for good food and skip the fluff and better furniture etc....

I recently visited Santa Fe and ate dinner at Mucho Gusto on my first night in town as it seemed to be one of the only restaurants open after 8pm on a Sunday. I had the a margarita and the vegetable chalupas. Both were good; the chalupas especially were a nice change of pace as one doesn't find them on the menu at every Mexican restaurant. Two chalupas, one in a yellow tortilla and one in blue, filled with sauteed veggies, including sqaush, and topped with cheese, sour cream, and sauce. I also had the margarita pie, which was more like key lime. Overall, I enjoyed the meal but found it to be slightly overpriced.

I had the Turkey Mole Enchiladas. They could have used a couple more minutes of heat but the Mole was very good. My brother had the Shrimp Tacos. He said they were great. I look forward to trying more dishes here.

We went here for lunch -- it's a surprising place hidden off the street. Walk in and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Started with chips and two kinds of salsa, very fresh green tomatillo and another red salsa (sorry can't recall then name of it). Good mix of flavors in both I enjoyed the shrimp special -- comes with black beans, rice, grilled veggies, and a quite unique salsa on the side. I agree with one of the other reviews that the flavors are so distinct and they do not just mush together. It's an explosion of taste. My mother had the bomb, which she's enjoyed many times and keeps coming back for more. It was her recommendation. Not an extensive menu, just the right amount of options to choose from when you want a good mexican meal.

Counter to many places in Santa Fe, Muchos serves a good working person's lunch. Many places in Santa Fe are touristy, and this definitely is not one of those places. Service is fast. This place gets a bit busy during lunch, but they seem to be able to handle the volume. I usually get the El Grinder sandwich, a salami sandwich that can be had hot or cold (have it hot). My second fav here is a sandwich that can best be described as Thanksgiving on a roll. It is a turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberries. They service a lot of places through call in which can make the place busy, even when there are no crowds.
