Hubby and I came back here for sit-down breakfast during our anniversary trip to Santa Fe. Now, I should start by saying my hubby is far more fond of Mexican breakfast than American or European breakfast in general, having grown up with a Mexican mama who can cook like there's no tomorrow. But, when asked what his favorite meal of our trip was -- he said breakfast at Clafoutis was tied with dinner at Joseph's. Which is a huge thing. He said his waffle was the best waffle he's ever had. My french toast was some of the best french toast I've ever had as well. Both came with tons of fresh fruit and a little nutella drizzle. I was stuffed. We took some pastries to go -- a chocolate almond croissant which was the biggest winner of the bunch as well as a peach flan and a peach tart. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat those til the next day and they didn't keep as well as they could have, I still thought the flavor was delicious but the texture had gotten a bit mushy. They would have been fine if we'd eaten them right away. Anyway, the parking lot was as big a nightmare as when I first visited. Some jerkoff had left his car in such a spot that when a handicapped person took the handicapped spot (go figure!) they were blocking the entire back lot so no one could get in or out. It took awhile for this jerkoff to be located judging from the frantic running about I saw, but he/she was gone by the time we finished our meal. This is why I would love to live within walking distance. The parking lot is the only rain on the amazing parade that is Clafoutis.

I stopped in for an early lunch with my wife and was thoroughly impressed. We ordered the Croque Madame and their Cubain and left eager to return. The ingredients were very fresh and the bread was superb. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a French breakfast/lunch. The pricing was not bad either. I've been to places of comparable tastiness who have charged much more than Clafoutis did. (I would be willing to pay more here given the quality of food, but thankfully I didn't have too). The interior decoration has a very nice, warm feel. The wooden rafters are exposed and lightly glazed with white paint. Overall, it are for a cozy feeling perfect for my wife and I on Valentine's Day. Although the seating space was not very large. I believe I saw only one or two tables that could have accommodated a group larger than 4. As a result, I would suggest you bring only that special someone here and not the entire family unless you would like to cram around each other.

Delicious lunch menu, the added Brie was worth it

This is one of my go to places when i go to Santa Fe. Great food, great desserts, reasonable prices, nice people. Wish there was one in Austin :) Thank you!
(5)Cathy L.
Once we found this place while visiting Santa Fe, we went back every day. The food is amazing, the service is good and the prices are just right. If you need a break from the New Mexican cuisine, this fits the bill.
(5)Hayley C.
This place is one of my favorites! My fiancé and I come here often for Saturday lunch dates. It's always great. Sometimes crowded, but always great. Our favorites are the house quiche and the French plate.
(5)Rachel S.
So this place is awesome all around. I was visiting Santa Fe and ended up eating here twice. I had the Crouque Madame and the Sea Dish both times. Both were very tasty, loaded with cheese and the like. I don't think I said more than some grunted mouthful form of "that's good" or "omg" to my husband after the food came. And did I hate my self for eating so quickly and voraciously afterwards. Yes, yes I did, but secretly I wanted to order more. So this place is definitely a solid four star, but I had to resist, even with food as good as it was. Both times I went here there was some, lets say, interpretation with the check. The waiter brought it out and the price of the two dishes did not add up to the total. It wasn't more than a dollar or two, so I just gave less tip overall. So no hard feelings to Clafoutis, maybe they are trying to include the tip much like they do in Europe? I would definitely, however, not let this stop you from going here. Just pull your third grade math skills out from that deep cave and make sure your check is good. So besides this little bump, great food, good service, and super cute decor.

Fantastic Service and Delightful Food! The wait was definitely worth it! The small and cozy restaurant made our trip to Santa Fe are real joy. Our daughter with Down Syndrome told us she wanted to go to Paris and eat French food as the celebration of her 21st birthday. We had several choices but the fantastic service and the delightful food helped to make it a wonderful celebration. Our party of 4 each had something different and all four meals were delicious! Crepes, soups and salads were excellent in their taste and presentation. We will definitely be going to "Paris" again and will eat at Clafoutis French Bakery & Restaurant. Parking was a challenge so do yourself a favor and park and walk to the cafe. The walk and the wait are both worth it!

Before come to Santa Fe I asked my husband want to come here I'm glad I did. Very good food. I got sandwich with prosciutto and add Brie. Yummy Yummy. Service was good also.

When we came here, we missed breakfast by 30 minutes (ends at 11:00). Had a salad which was very tasty. Desserts were fantastic. The madelines were the best I've ever had, even better than the ones I tried in Paris. Staff was super friendly

Like most restaurants in New Mexico, the outside lacks curb appeal. However, the inside of this restaurant is warm, bustling, and welcoming. There's soft lighting, people packed in a small space, a line out the door on the weekends, and the smell of a french bakery. The staff and patrons are friendly. We ate brunch with a few friends and left making new friends. The "Farmers" is my favorite dish because it has a little of everything and reminds me of a charcuterie plate except that the food is served in cute little baskets on a platter. The chocolate croissants were ok. It doesn't stand out from other bakeries in town. My husband enjoyed his french toast. We've been here several times and would recommend the farmers, french toast, French plate, country plate (similar to farmers), brie sandwich, and croque Madame (yum) or croque Monsieur - depending on whether or not you want an egg on top or not. If you love French brunch, you will love this place.

What we got of our "to go" order was good. We didn't even attempt to dine-in when we saw how busy it was. The problem is "what we got." The gal who filled our order assured us that everything was in the bag. We were already on our way home to CO when we went to get a snack out of the bag and realized that 2 things we paid for were missing. She failed to put them in the bag. Sure, we should have checked the bag. We'll own that. But she should have been more attentive, too.
(3)Olivia B.
Cute french bakery. You are greeted with a friendly "Bonjour!" by the staff. Coffee is very good. I had the caramelized crepes which was good, but chocolate sauce was a bit weird to go with it. He had the croissant sandwich. Good and lovely pastries. Dark chocolate macaroon was fabulous. And not too expensive too. Only downside is that they were closed on Sunday upon our departure from Santa Fe :( we wanted a repeat experience!
(5)Renae M.
Was recently invited by a friend to this wonderful restaurant and am very grateful to have found it. It was Ahhmazing. I had the chicken salad sandwich, some homemade potato chips and a salad. I can honestly say that the chicken salad sandwich was the best I have ever tasted. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't be disppointed.

Wanted something different after FIVE days of SW food. Only a block from our timeshare, we found this little gem... AMAZING. The house quiche with prosciutto, cheese, spinach, feta looked like it would be good and came with the house salad and viniagrette. BOY, was that a good choice! Go hungry, it was nearly 1/4 pie. Meanwhile my husband orders a "special crepe", i.e., design your own. He had mushrooms, bacon, cheddar, tomato. I was really, really enjoying my quiche until he gave me a taste of the crepe. OH MY! Was I in heaven? Marvelous. It was 4" by 8", so he didn't eat it all. Well, he'd seen this litte cherry sable pastry, two cookies sandwiched around a cherry pie like filling. He didn't even offer me a bite!? The service was excellent and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable, particularly given the food quality and portions. We're going back before we leave Santa Fe!
(5)Steve S.
Wins - great French bakery with excellent breakfast options. The only problem is the wait - get there early (they open at 7) or wait times can be 30-45 minutes.
(4)Marie M.
We were on our way to go hiking at Tent Rocks & stopped to grab some take out breakfast. Wow... The food tastes as amazing as it looks. It was hard to decide on just a few things . We will definitely go back. The staff is very friendly.
(5)Joe L.
Great French ambiance and flair. Really good food that was genuinely French inspired. The fresh bread was great and the crossiant was really flaky. The place was incredibly busy and parking was limited
(5)Joel T.
Best breakfast in the whole town. Worth the wait. Can't say enough good things about this place !!!!!!!
(5)Colin C.
Great food, bad management. Not waiters' fault or doing-should get an extra cashier for to go orders only as this backs up service for everyone! Don't go if in a hurry, otherwise indulge because it is good.
(4)Michael J.
Incroyable! Simply. The atmosphere, service, and food were great. Not one thing I didn't like. The Chai was perfectly spiced. The bread was soft and delicious. The staff was beyond friendly. Definitely want to come back. Maybe try their pastries. Lunch was so filling that I will have to skip for now.
(5)Alona B.
Perfection! Friendly. Delicious. Fabulous. Parking may be tricky, but whatever it takes- without hurting anyone- TRY IT!!
(5)Katelyn H.
Husband had a ham and cheese crepe and really enjoyed it. I had coconut French toast served with fresh fruit and it was awesome! We brought a lamb quiche and some macarons back to the hotel. The quiche was enjoyable and the macarons were wonderful! Especially the raspberry one. Very friendly service. Will be back next time I'm in Santa Fe. Be warned that parking can be tricky, as there are very few parking spaces.
(5)Thomas S.
Went here for breakfast two mornings in a row. Incredibly good pastries, very good omelet.
(4)Lesmag H.
Our favorite breakfast place in Santa Fe!
(5)Carron S.
Super! This authentic little French cafe in Santa Fe was such a nice surprise. We liked our first experience so much that we went back the next morning too! The crepes were fantastic, as were the freshly baked baguette sandwiches. The French plate and seafood gallette were both fresh and tasty and big. The pastries, for the most part, tasted just like in Paris. The only exception (and the reason for the 1-less-star) was that the macarons were not as light as we'd hoped. It's possible that we were there on an off day when they maybe weren't freshly made. But all in all we enjoyed our experience tremendously.
(4)Marissa R.
Great prices, friendly staff, did is delicious, delicately sweetened, beautiful plates. Really enjoyed. Wyeth the wait.
(4)Kae J.
Yum! C'est très bon pour le déjeuner. Great spot for lunch. Wonderful fresh, homemade fare. Daily specials and the pastries will not disappoint. The closest thing to a French bakery in New Mexico. This is place is a gem!
(5)Kaj G.
We were here for breakfast. This place is absolutely delicious, and because it is absolutely delicious it will be packed with customers, both tourists and locals. Its even a little chaotic in there, but once you get your table the service is quick and smooth. The two of us split an order of crepes and Croque Madame, both were delicious, and we back every day for breakfast. An FYI - if you are in a hurry, there is a pastry case with a bunch of good stuff that you can order to go. But again, because this place is absolutely delicious, there will be a line for that too.
(5)RaeDawn P.
Can't say anything bad about the place, except that it's so busy, I wish it was a little better. However, the wait is never very long. Chicken salad sandwich on a freshly made baguette was delicious. House made chips were perfectly crisp. French toast was great. The macaroons are amazing, raspberry is my favorite. I'm sure everything on the menu as as great as what I've tried so far. Hope to taste the French onion soup soon!
(5)Anthony R.
Food is pretty good, especially pastries and the owner and her daughter are always the nicest people in the world. Service is always horribly slow, do not go if you are on a time limit. It's best to get there early because it will be packed soon enough.
(4)Richard M.
Went back twice in four days (it was closed Sunday). This is a treasure. You won't regret going here. We had wonderful waffles with fruit, crepes with nutella (the French way), fabulous french toast, fresh squeezed orange juice, aromatic coffee, and chamomile tea. The place gets filled quickly so don't arrive after 8 am unless you don't mind standing and being amazed by the perfect pastries that come from the kitchen to be displayed for purchase. Your mouth will water. Some of the staff speak French if you want to practice. The food is very authentic and always delicious. The atmosphere is like a small French country side restaurant. We can't wait to get back to Santa Fe to try this gem!
(5)Matt I.
My wife and I recently spent a week in Santa Fe, and Clafoutis ranked right at the top for our favorite meals while in town. Amazing omelet and really nice breads/pastries. Service staff were pleasant and efficient, and the wait isn't as long as it looks...
(5)Renee C.
Enjoyed a Fab Latte to start then the best crepe with whipped cream that everyone at the table said is so good we had to have it taken away! Egg white omelette and a side salad mmmmmm
(5)Matt H.
Made it back and it did not disappoint. Big bowls of coffee, a grapefruit lemonade, Le Special and peach crepes for breakfast. I love their croissants and baguettes with jam. All the pastries looked epic, but we did not get any this time around (I am regretting not picking up a few dozen of this and that). We will be back soon enough and will partake in this awesome spot.
(5)Ivelin I.
The food was beyond delicious, the best restaurant experience we had in New Mexico. The Greek soup and godfather sandwich were flavorful, filling, and extremely fresh. The macaroons we equally tantalizing!
(5)Marla S.
I've been here several times, really wanting to love it. The ambiance is great and the display case tempting. But every meal I've had is almost tasteless. I've had the quiche a couple of times, and the breakfast croissant. Each was rubbery, cold, and without flavor. Plus they've gotten my order wrong twice. The wait staff seems overloaded. I've had to flag sometime down for more water, coffee, tea. My companions' food according to them was not that good either. Granted, one time I came with a native Frenchman who doesn't care for American gastronomy even when prepared by his countrymen/women. So perhaps he was a harsh judge. But I was prepared and primed to enjoy and couldn't. After three times and no improvement, I think I'm done with trying. I'm glad others have had better experiences.
(2)George H.
We were in Paris, France in November our umpteenth trip. This is almost identical to eateries there. The waitstaff was perfect, expeditious without rushing, they had wonderful accents and were very helpful. The food was perfect.
(5)CJ G.
There is quite a bit of hype regarding this restaurant. We waited for a good 25 minutes. This was a weekday at 10:30 AM, There were only two wait staff for the whole restaurant! Although very pleasant they were, it is hard to over look the parking situation, the long wait for a table, for our order to be taken, the food to be delivered and the payment for our service, to justify coming back. Beautiful pastries, great coffee and lovely menu, but too busy for me.
(4)Susie P.
Still my "go-to" breakfast place in Santa Fe. The pastries are as good as anywhere I have been in the US and right up there with the best pastry shops in Paris. Service is good (not easy to find in Santa Fe) and the only thing that I don't like is the parking- so... we walk! Sit down breakfast is the best and be sure to grab some pastries and bread for later- the pistachio eclair may be one of the best eclairs I have ever had! Don't miss this place.
(5)Danielle R.
What a wonderful little find! Hidden on Guadalupe, you would probably drive right past this little café if you didn't know it was there! I was told by two longtime locals about Clafoutis, and their praises seemed endless. Let me tell you, though, their praises were also 100% true! The cappuccino is delightfully rich, with just the right amount of foam to milk to dark espresso. The atmosphere is cute and natural, with just the right amount of wall hangings and ambient light. Food = A+++, I was getting full, but the Croque Madame was just so good that I had to finish it! They've also got a wonderful fresh pastry display, needless to say, my party of four will be getting some to go!! They do not take reservations, however, but they can turn tables pretty quickly. If you have a larger party (more than five), the wait may be longer, but it's definitely worth it! They also give you some fresh baguette before your meal arrives, and if you ask for jam...it's Bonne Maman sample jars! And you can take those cute little things home, too!! Enjoy!

I told my Santa Fe-loving coworker that I came here and she said "there's good french food in Santa Fe?" and yeah, there is some excellent French breakfast in Santa Fe, namely here. We came around 11:30 on Fiesta weekend Saturday and amazingly sat right down, but not before drooling over the pastry case of very reasonably priced baked goods. After ordering beverages (and not receiving all of them), we ordered and waited a fairly long time for food. Our food came, and I finally got my water, but I was a bit surprised that my breakfast that came with baguette slices did not come with jam and butter, but a butter-filled croissant does come with butter and jam, if you pay extra for it. I got some butter and (cheap, store-bought) jam on the side and I was reasonably happy. But seriously, make your own jam, you're a French bistro-style restaurant. I got the Provencal omelette, which has: tomatoes, ham, garlic (?), kalamata olives, and herbs de provence. It sounds weird but it was amazing. It does not come with anything except bread but it was very large, and I also got it with egg whites. They do put some pointless parsley and shredded carrot (Really?) on the plate, which is.....messy looking. My husband got the French Toast with fresh fruit and it was amazing; some of the best I've ever had and didn't need syrup at all. He also got a "bowl" of cafe au lait and it literally comes in a bowl. I stuck with black coffee in a mug and it was also great. So, although they need to beef up on service, condiments, and lose the silly garnishes, this place makes amazing food. I wanted to take pastries to go but on a trip it really made no sense. If we're back in Santa Fe, I am definitely coming back here, no matter the wait time. I suggest you do the same.
(4)Carrie H.
We were in Santa Fe for three days and we went there everyday! Thanks Yelp! We had salmon & leek quiche, Lorraine quiche & Les Cagettes, totally fantastic, just like what I remember eating in France. We also had crepe with peach & Angelica cream, good, but the crepe (the pancake) itself is below expectation, too thick & too spongy. Also had Neapolitan cake, chocolate cherry cake, hazelnut almond cream cake, clafoutis tart, all fantastic. Had waffles with Nutella, but just average. Overall, very pleased with them.
(4)Tim D.
Now they're closed till March 1st although Yelp shows them open. Don't bother coming.
(1)Nancy M.
Great food and pastry but need they a new space! Last visit for me since my car was hit and run and caused $2250 worth of damage. I am sure I am not the only one. Parking is awful!!! They would double their business (restaurant and takeout) in a new space with more room for customers and better parking! Takeout is too much of a hassle! They could also add staff to answer the phone since last time I tried to order a quiche I quit calling after 10 tries and called somewhere else. C'est la vie!
(2)Raina B.
We walked here from our hotel and with the size of the parking lot, being so small, I'm glad we did. Friday at 9 am was a good time to visit, the wait for the two of us was about 15 minutes. We both ordered double lattes which were very good but the star was their breakfast sandwich. Huge portion of egg, Avocado, protein of choice (I recommend the salmon) on a freshly made brioche type bun. It does take a bit for your bill so if you are in a rush be sure to request your check when your order arrives. Only negative point, it is very warm in the establishment
(5)Kat C.
So I have a love/hate relationship with Clatoutis. I adore the delicate pastries and the coffee shop atmosphere. I HATE the abysmal lack of parking (because people sit and stay obviously) and the over the top "Bonjour" sing song thing they do when you walk in. I know, I'm a grump but it comes off as sooo fake. Plus, I'm already hopping mad because the parking is awful and they don't make a few 15 minute spaces for those of us who want to run, buy and get out. I would definitely go more if there was decent parking or even 15 minute parking, but I absolutely refuse to walk 2 blocks or god forbid wait 30 minutes when I'll only be there for 10.
(3)K N.
This place is amazing ! I drive all the wAy from Abq to santa Fe just to eat at this restaurant as often as I can. And yes it's soo worth it. The Brie and red pepper sandwich is to die for , not to mention all the amazing French pastries & bread. I love this little hole in the wall, truly a great spot. Go check it out !
(5)Al MonRok A.
Short of being in Paris, this French bistro is the real deal. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a "Bon jour!" that rivaled the opening scene of Beauty and the Beast (and yes, I did feel a bit like Belle). We came in for a casual brunch on a random Saturday morning in November 2013. Jefe was surprised I spoke elementary French, but it was enough to get a table and some drinks- the coffee was good and strong as I remember it from my trips abroad. I got the L'assiette Francaise (French plate): ham, prosciutto, hard salami, pickled pearl onions, cornichons, assorted cheeses, mixed green salad, butter and brie (with a large piece of baguette). I'm warning you now- if you order this, be prepared to get comfy for a while. It was heaven. Jefe had the egg croissant, and I kept on insisting he have some of my plate. He said his was very good. I was going to get a crepe or waffle but there was no way that was going to happen. I had my fill of a true French breakfast and was ready to tackle the day of touring the area. On the way out, as I was paying by the pastry case, my "foodie" French vocabulary resurfaced and I left with some chocolate croissants and cookies for a late day treat. I am making this place a MUST when I come back to Santa Fe.
(5)Elle G.
the pastries are too beautiful to eat, but taste just as wonderful as they look! the service was great. shared a savory crepe with ham and cheese, croque monsier, a cherry clafoutis, and a croissant. all was fantastic!
(5)Ashley D.
The reviews for Clafoutis are absolutely spot on. This place is five stars all the way! I ate here twice in the week I was visiting Santa Fe and wish I had visited more. From the moment you walk in the door, see the colorful cases of pastries, and are greeted with "Bonjour Madame!", you know your going to have a great experience. The French owner works behind the pastry counter and greets customers while getting them pastries and cashing them out. She is lovely and very friendly. Customers seat themselves. Soon, a server comes to take your drink order. I think their prices for drinks are very fair. For $1.50, you get a cup of unlimited refills for black drip coffee. They also offer bowls of coffee, which literally look like cereal bowls filled with coffee, but why pay for that when you can have free refills? Other drinks include Chai tea, espresso drinks, and French Lemonades. I ordered the coffee and was intrigued by their brown raw sugar "rocks" provided on the table. It is a nice touch. On my second visit, we tasted a Chai tea, which came in a big mug and was quite tasty. My first visit was when I dined alone for lunch. I ordered the Croque Madame ($6.90) with hand cut fries ($2.00), French onion soup ($2.75), and a sugar crepe ($2.50) for dessert. The sandwich was delicious, and required a fork and knife to eat it. There was a buttery béchamel sauce inside, and cheese under my perfectly cooked egg. The fries were fresh and well seasoned. Although they are ala cart, there is plenty in an order. The French onion soup was very tasty as well, and was a perfect ratio of soup to cheese to crouton (none of the gummy, soggy mess that can sometimes happen). The real star of my lunch was the giant sugar crepe. It was piping hot, perfectly buttery, and I was thankful I was alone for lunch so I didn't have to share! The crepe cost $2.50 and the inside was sprinkled with sugar, folded several times to make a triangle, and then served on a plate with decorative chocolate ganache swirls. Upon checking out, I got a piece of country style pear tart and a piece of raspberry clafoutis to-go. My husband was thrilled! My first experience was so life changing that I told my husband that I had to take him there before we headed home from Santa Fe. So on our last day we loaded the car and made our way to Claufoutis for our departing meal. This time I ordered a cup of coffee and the croissant breakfast sandwich ($4.95) with egg, cheese, and real ham (not the lunch meat kind). I have never had a better croissant. Perfectly flaky, soft, and buttery; it changed my life. So much so that I order two to bring home for the next day's breakfast. My husband ordered the provencale omelette ($8.50), which had tomatoes, garlic, herbs de provence, olives, cheese, and ham. He loved it. I was surprised to find olives in an omelette, but it was so tasty. Of course, we could not pass up a visit to the pastry counter before we left. We both picked out a pastry for the road. I regret not tasting my pastry, although my waist line does not, until I was close to home or I would have ordered several more. I ordered their fresh raspberry beignet. It is not a New Orleans beignet, but is like its French predecesor. It is more similar to a perfectly fried yeast donut. It is a square donut-like pastry, filled with fresh pastry cream, and layered with perfectly ripe fresh raspberries. I am salavating just thinking about it. SO GOOD! I could go on and on about this place, which I kind of already have :) Point in case: eat here. Add it to your list of places to eat before you die. Service is friendly. Its local. Its fresh. Prices are reasonable. And most importantly, it is delicious. Go.
(5)Jim K.
A tasty breakfast sandwich on a crusty French roll with salmon is eggceptional. We were lost in Santa Fe and looking for a place any place to have breakfast. We had left Albuquerque early that morning and were hungry and needed another shot of coffee. Talk about luck, we stumbled into this little place with its bakery counter and kitchen. We had a wonderful breakfast with excellent coffee. We probably could never find our way back, but if we are ever in Santa Fe again I know where we will have breakfast.
(5)Jess K.
This place is adorable, walking in it felt like a warm hug. There was a pastry counter chock full of desserts and quick bites, at very reasonable prices. Our waitress was so friendly and smiley. We ordered the French plate and the Nutella waffles. The French plate was generous with a large salad, meats, and cheeses. One note, the baguette was a little under cooked, not as crispy as we would like, but otherwise a perfect picnic lunch. Now onto the waffles...definitely enough to share, two waffles powdered with sugar and served with a large spoonful of Nutella. It was dessert for breakfast, but well worth and worth the price. I could not believe the waffles were less than $5, pinch me because I will never find that in NYC! The latte was the best, creamy and delicious. The place filled up as we were eating and it was a pleasant atmosphere. Only caution, parking is limited, so get creative.
(4)Kate K.
I eat out often. Consider myself a foodie. You will not be disappointed. An absolute perfect experience. Small parking lot in back but easily walkable from downtown Santa Fe.
(5)Derek C.
Yes... this is the place to go for an awesome French breakfast. Can't beat it.
(5)Lena K.
Authentic, delicious and healthy. Our family had a salad, a panini, soup and a sandwich, and everything was great. The mother-daughter team is great, and we got to practice some French with the lovely daughter. Kids enjoyed French soda straight from Paris!
(4)Jon L.
Great, great, great! Please do not tell anyone about this place...too crowded. Best FRENCH TOAST I have ever had!! The coffee was just like I had in Paris. The pastries are worth the calories. I can't wait to go back.
(5)Jason C.
My wife and I were in Santa Fe for the holidays and decided to try something different from the usual southwestern style fair. We read other reviews and decided to get clafoutis a try. We have no previous experience with french food and wanted to try something different. It was a big hit. My wife ordered the quiche and I ordered "the country" which was a box of assorted meats and cheeses with a dessert. Both our meals were great and we took some of the bakery items to go. We would refer our friends and family here in the future. Caution: every restaurant in Santa Fe appears to have a wait so don't go if you can't tolerate a 15-20 min wait. Also beware of the parking lot. The restaurants reputation has exceeded it's capacity to park cars and it can be dangerous for someone not skilled at parking/driving. Be safe and save an accident by parking on the side streets.
(4)Craig S.
Superb, especially breads. Service surprisingly good. Reasonably priced. Went twice in three days.
(5)Andrew K.
Excellent! Great place, amazing pastries, wonderful food and bread, good house coffee and espresso coffees too...And the price is right. Great people (except for one frantic server) work there. It's a must! Only two negative things...When it gets packed (and people are waiting in line, out the door) it gets a bit loud. And, the parking is terrible. Even with these two things, it's so worth it.
(5)Hsuan Chun L.
Omg, their fruit crepes and French plate are so awesome. They made me love Santa Fe more.

AMAZING food!! Those were the best crepes I've ever had! I got the caramelized peach crepes with cream sauce, and the waffles my husband got were delicious too. They also have a little bakery and we really wanted to try more but had already eaten too much! The place was packed with people and there's a wait so be prepared or call ahead. The food was worth the wait though!

Bf and I visited Santa Fe from NYC for New Years. We came here the morning of the 31st and there was a line out the door. We got lattes and pan au chocolate to go. Best pan au chocolate I have ever had and the coffees were great too. I also had a mini baguette with ham and butter that was incredible. Soft chewy bread, god quality ham and butter. Am stashing some for the plane ride back home. The menu had Crepes waffles and eggs. Would be a nice break from breakfast burritos smothered in cheese. The woman in charge was friendly and actually French. Great place to get a coffee and pastry and better than any other we have encountered in the trip.

I was kind of disappointed by this place. I guess I'm not cut out for the super small super close table thing. The sandwich and salad I ordered were good though. There's a hanging in the restaurant that says they serve diablos and my boyfriend (being french and a diablo enthusiast) was very excited! But the waitress didn't even know what it was...so that was a little disappointing. (they were also out of grenadine which is what you need to make the diablo my boyfriend wanted.) aside from the food it was not a great experience.
(3)Lee W.
Just had brunch there today. Really nice place. Good simple French cuisine. Snowing outside, warm and friendly inside. Run by a husband and wife from Dijon area. The husband is the baker. The wife and daughter run the bistro. Don't miss this place.
(5)Nick S.
More than just breakfast and crepes, come here for lunch. Same cool euro vibe, same bad parking, but you'll have a great lunch with home made French breads. Service is good despite the size and how busy it is. I wish they opened at night and created a menu for the dinner client. With wine
(5)Scott S.
Bread here is incredible! The brioche, sour dough and the lemon poundcake bread were all insane good. The breakfast was also great and not greasy. The breakfast was a breath of fresh air also since it WAS NOT covered in grease, chili, cheese and green chili which every person in New Mexico thinks is God Like for some insane reason. All the mexican joints serve a breakfast around here where it looks like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street took a heart stopping dump of grease and chili all over the breakfast plate and that's not so here... thank God. Oh and the butter is insane GOOD! Like butter right off a farm in the French countryside.
(5)Ryder D.
Very very good breakfast in Santa Fe. The pastries are amazing however after trying the Cinnamon Twists here a month ago everytime I come back they don't ever have them... Very sad.
(5)Marco M.
Awesome, everything was awesome. Cinnamon roll, beignets, hot croissants, quiche, and especially the croque madame! This is now a regular stop for our Santa Fe trips!
(5)Lauren M.
Bonjour! French bistro in Santa Fe, yes please. What a special treat. Walked in and felt like I was back in Paris. Being greeted in French is pretty cool. Menu looked fantastic, but we didn't want to fill up so we opted for a couple pastries. They were perfect. Super fresh and definitely hit the spot. Service was great. Note -- if you want to pop in and grab some pastries to go it's super easy. Definitely worth it.
(4)Chocolina R.
We wanted to come back last time so did we this morning. This time we had a table in large room area. I don't know if it was only today but the staff was moving tables and chairs many times, making large noise. We couldn't have a quiet ti e at all for 45 min. The food and all bake goods are excellent (we bought many for take out). We will definitely come back to get bake gods, but not to sit down and eat....
(3)Jana D.
Love this place!! It's like eating in a quaint family owned bistro in the province of France! Breakfast is awesome! Breads and sweets to LIVE for!!
(5)Nina H.
This was my absolute favorite place to eat during our trip to New Mexico last weekend. It was just so adorable inside and the food was fantastic and so affordable for the portions! I love how they painted over the wood ceilings and decorated with cool art and gadgets. We had breakfast here before a hike and I ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon and it was so tasty! Our friends got the coconut pancakes, and a variety of other breakfast foods. They are all super tasty according to them. We came back the other day to get some pastries to go, and the Napoleon, macarons, and lemon cake were SO delicious!!! This place cannot go wrong, seriously. The boss lady speaks with the coolest French accent, and she's just lovely with her authentic "merci beaucoup" and "monsieur", etc. French is such a beautiful language and this place is amazing.
(5)Natalie V.
Very good, reminds me of my French side of the family. The service was friendly and professional. It is hard to get a seat but we finally had the chance. It was Awesome!!. Will recommend and go here as often as I can. Baguettes and croissants were delish.
(5)Tom R.
This place is delicious! The portions are an excellent size and the prices are great. Their pastries here are amazing (especially the fruit tart)! The staff is always super kind. This restaurant is always packed and I have never heard a bad word about them. You won't regret eating here!
(5)john a.
Fantastic French food! Amazing fresh squeezed orange juice. Heavenly truffles. Consistently excellent service! Love the place and try to stop by 3-4 times a week
(5)Mindy J.
French food has always been one of my favorites. This little place is very unassuming from the street but when you step inside and see the pastry counter you can tell it is the real deal. We had lunch, pastries, and took home a baguette. For lunch we ordered a range of sandwiches, quiche, and the onion soup. Everything was really tasty. The pastries we ordered and devoured were the clafoutis, raspberry tart, pear tart, and the macaroons (we were a party of 6). I will be going back here when I'm in Santa Fe or when I'm just driving through town.
(5)Whitney M.
As soon as we walked in the door for lunch on a Monday, we were greeted by two super friendly women. "Bonjour!" they said as we entered. I had the onion soup and a roast beef sandwich. My friend had the special potato and bacon soup (which was all pureed) with the salmon and leek quiche. All of it was good. Certainly no complaints! The atmosphere and the service were my favorites parts. It was busy, but not too crowded. The food took no time. We could have sat and enjoyed some coffee and a pastry and not felt rushed.
(4)Lauren H.
Oh wow. Get ready. You're going to want to buy every item in their dessert case. I can assure you that pretty much every one will taste delicious too! Fantastic place to come for breakfast/brunch, and to get desserts to go. Loved the decorations and the sweet, cute atmosphere too.
(5)James F.
Clafoutis is a French pastry shop on the north side of Santa Fe. It is easy to drive by without noticing, because it is right next to a Blake's Lotaburger. Clafoutis is a real French family owned shop with: 1. The best pastries, tarts, croissants, and cookies around (perhaps in the whole country) 2. The best coffee anywhere in Santa Fe (and that IS saying a lot) and 3. Great breakfast and lunch food. I had an egg sandwich with bacon and avocado that was too good. Unfortunately it was a special and not on their everyday menu. There are. A lot of food choices in Santa Fe, but you need to go to Clafoutis.
(5)The A.
Very cute place. Parking is certainly an issue but it's worth the hassle. The restaurant food is quite good and nicely presented but the real story are the desserts. The macarons are lighter than air. We bought a few to go and had to turn around and go back for more a few minutes later. The coffee, on the other hand, was truly disgusting. I rarely have trouble finishing a cup, but definitely couldn't stomach theirs.
(4)D B.
My daughter and I went here for breakfast yesterday, and have decided this is going to be our breakfast spot for next three days. We are within walking distance, so parking lot not an issue. I would not let the parking situation deter you from going here, just park somewhere else and walk. The coffee was fabulous. My daughter had a fruit crepe and it was delicious. I had the special croque madam. The inside is bustling and alive, but it is not annoyingly loud. I think it has a good positive energy. I will miss this place when we leave Santa Fe in a few days.
(5)Crystal C.
Perfectly quaint little cafe. Nice service, terrific food! Simple but done extremely well! Ohhh...and they have fresh squeezed orange juice! Nummmmy
(5)Eloy W.
They make some mean French bread in a Spanish-American town! You do no get better for breakfast than this place. This place has a beautiful atmosphere filled with a bakery/French restaurant. Our table was spread with salmon, crepes, eggs, quiche and fresh fruits. It seems as all of the waitstaff are from France, and several spoke to French-speaking customers.
(4)Patron X.
Delicious! It's hard to get good bread and pastries at this elevation but this place does a great job of it. I've eaten breakfast here a handful of times and have never made it out the door without buying bread and pastries to go. The coffee, food, and service are all great. I'd give it a 5 if it weren't for the parking issue. Best to visit this place early and on weekdays on plan on walking and waiting.
(4)Roy S.
Roy 'The Hungry Englishman' What can I say about this truly wonderful establishment that has already not been said? I don't speak a work of French but did live there for a time and fell in love with the French patisserie, so it was a joy to find something similar in Santa Fe. .....PERFECTION......! This is now on our 'must visit' list every time we get to Santa Fe. Happy eating, Roy.
(5)Shay F.
It was my first time in Santa Fe, so I was a little surprised to see that there was going to be a French cafe. However, when we arrived, I was really pleasantly surprised. Tasty pastries and quiches were on display and there were quite a few classic French breakfast/brunch choices. I decided to go for the egg and ham croissant - with a side of green chiles, (had to have a little bit of the Santa Fe twist)! The two paired together really nicely. Atmosphere was really pleasant and quaint. For any visitors or regulars, would highly recommend the place. Only reason for the deduction was that my dining companion ripped his jeans on the old chairs... and was not too happy about it. Oops.
(4)Chris S.
I am sad to live three hours away from this excellent restaurant and bakery, because I would go there every day if I could. The food is terrific and the service is friendly and capable.
(5)Harry E.
Went to this place for lunch with our friends on a recent trip to Santa Fe based on reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. Their French onion soup, sandwiches and quiche surpassed our expectations. We went there for breakfast on the next day. It was very crowded and the service suffered a little bit. But overall, if you enjoy French cuisine at very affordable prices, then this is definitely the place for you!
(4)Chris T.
Loved this place. Down to earth and delicious. I had the freshly squeezed OJ and ABC omelette (avocado bacon and cheese). Bread is also great quality. Great local find.
(5)N H.
I eat here whenever I visit Santa Fe, the food is excellent, the staff is friendly and efficient and the bread is heaven. I understand there is nothing that can be done about the parking so I live with it.
(5)Thomas K.
Delightful Parisian atmosphere. Attractive french speaking waitress was very helpful and understanding at my lack of french cuisine. Best coffee I've had since leaving Seattle. I had the hashbrown special with 2 eggs and probably the best bacon I've ever had. Brunch is served till 11.30 am.
(4)Morrissey J.
Great salads mixing a balance of fruit and veges and good service. Homemade breads are super and the pastries are outstanding. The parking lot in the back is too small and there are only 3 spots out front, 2 of which are for handicap vehicles. I've had to go somewhere else several times because of the lack of space. They have one very small (sometimes 2) table on the front porch, so outdoor seating is not much of an option. But the food is worth the wait, if you can get in and don't mind standing awhile. Get there early and you shouldn't have a problem. I had the quiche Lorraine and salad today...best I've had since Paris. The crust is light, the egg fluffy and the bacon plentiful. The top is beautifully browned. The salad, which just came as a side to the quiche had several types of fresh greens, red and yellow peppers, shredded carrots, tomato, radish served in a light and tasty vinaigrette. Clafoutis bustles with friendly energy. Give it a try and you won't be sorry.
(4)Palmer B.
Egg white omelette provincial, superb. Latte, perfect. Beignet, like no where else. Peach & Pear Clafoutis, irresistible. Believe. Cozy, warm, inviting.
(5)Aileen W.
They make a mean brioche and I appreciate a bakery that does brioche well. I had a brioche pastry with pastry cream and peaches, lovely, just lovely. Can't wait to go back and sample more offerings, as most of their baked goods were sold out when we stopped by around 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon. So get there early!
(5)Tom B.
We are on vacation in Santa Fe from Dallas. Shopping for art yesterday (Chuck Jones Gallery - see Toshi - he's great) we made some nice purchases. In the course of our shopping he recommended Clafoutis for breakfast and we went this morning as it is less that .5 miles from our hotel. It's "French" with an impressive display of pastries. It's a family owned place with husband baker and wife up front. Place was packed the whole time we were there from 9 AM until about 10:15. Staff seemed to know many of the diners so I'm guessing it has many locals as regular customers. Service was just right - there when you want and not when you don't. I had an ABC omelette (Avocado, bacon, cheese) and it was Terriffic. Wife had ham and cheese Crepes. We were both very pleased. Nice bread basket with French preserves. This great place is near downtown and worth the trip. Parking is "tight" as is the case in all of close in Santa Fe.
(5)Linda M.
A great place for breakfast or lunch. I have only had to go never actually dined in but everything I tried was great.
(5)Jennifer S.
I think I am in the love with this place! If I lived in Santa Fe, I would frequent this gem every day. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere is quintessential French cafe and the food was amazing! I enjoyed quiche, an Orangina and a chocolate mousse, but frankly, I wanted one of everything. I will definitely be back next time I am in Santa Fe for sure!
(5)Elizabeth G.
Can't get any better! We've gone back for breakfast a couple of times already. The baked goods are all very French and excellent (brioche, clafoutis, croissants and delightful dessert pastries) and the eggs Benedict is the best I have ever had. Oh, the Croque Monsieur is the best in its class, too! Get the coffee au lait in a bowl on a cold morning.
(5)Keith K.
I have been going to Clafoutis since they opened and it is always the best. All the reviewers here are accurate. I must add, for those of you that have had trouble with the parking, you can park in the lot across the street. There are signs that say, 'private parking' but it is okay to park there.
(5)Kevin C.
Santa Fe, New Mexico Perhaps the best French Toast (Coconut) I've ever had. Everything was great. 5 stars with some parking.
(4)Meredith B.
Nearly ever time I have work in SF I stop by This fantastic cafe. Happy and efficient service, delicious pastries and dark rich fresh coffee. Only wish is that they had longer hours!
(5)Aaron A.
yelp treating me right in New Mexico. Two 5 Stars in a row. I had the quiche a la Maison, it was the best quiche I've ever had with Spinach, ham, tomatoes, artichokes, and feta. Kids had crepes with Nutella, looked great although i didn't have any. Small quaint place, seats maybe 30 people. We had to wait about 5 min b at 1 pm on a Tuesday. Good luck walking out with out buying any pastries.
(5)Samuel C.
Very good baked goods and french onion soup. Only drawback is that the place is so popular, if you don't get there early for lunch, good luck finding parking.
(4)Russ L.
Very good breakfast options, friendly staff, and great chicory coffee. You may wind up spending a little bit more money if you have a larger appetite though.
(4)Elizabeth G.
What a treasure! In the heart of a Santa Fe, a city that is known for fine dining....this is a gem just a bit off the usual path. There is absolutely no parking, which could be considered an issue.....look at it as a sign of greatness. We had the best breakfast, met the nicest patrons and enjoyed the visual aspects of everything that came from the kitchen. I cannot wait to return to this restaurant. Highly recommend the French toast and eggs Benedict. YUM!!!
(5)Kristine H.
Insanely good authentic French pastries, breads, breakfast items and lunch. Ate here three days in a row during a trip to Santa Fe, and we had the following items: quiche with ricotta and spinach, quiche with bacon and green chili, chocolate brioche, apple turnover, ham and cheese croissants, vanilla custard pastries, omelette with greens, tomato and goat cheese, blueberry clafoutis, raisin bread, and cafe au lait (served in a bowl). Nowhere except Paris have I had such amazing pastries. Not to be missed in Santa Fe.
(5)Paula T.
What a delightful way to start your day! Just happened on during a visit and ate there the next day as well. Wonderful omlettes, bread product, coffee. Parking is insane but a lovely spot!
(5)Abe J.
Parking was a nightmare! Food was good, not great, but not worth the wait. I can tell they were busy, but perhaps it was a bit much for them in this day. I can't really say more, not an experience that stuck with me long
(2)Greg S.
I love this place food is great the atmosphere is very cool the parking can be a challenge but well worth it
(4)Jay K.
Disappointed on this trip, at least service wise. The fellow who was our server. It would be more accurate to call him a "thrower" as that is exactly what he did - throw things; silverware, cups of hot coffee, and plates of food for heaven's sake! And you know, thank goodness the food is still tasty. I'll go back again and I hope the service improves. Will let you know, I promise!
(3)Doris P.
Always freshly prepared. Ham & cheese crepes, marvelous quiches. Call ahead for beignets on Saturdays. They go Fast!
(5)Geoff And Jenni G.
Delicious quiche, fresh salad, lovely seafood sampler and amazing pastries and cakes. Fabulous! Cannot hesitate to recommend, but be prepared to wait.. no reservations and this place is deservingly popular..
(5)J H.
Amazing! Small place with very little parking but absolutely worth it. Coconut French Toast stuffed with Fresh Fruit is delicious. No syrup needed. Chocolate drizzle on the sides are perfect. Blood orange French sparkling drink was also superb. Very busy restaurant with very polite and efficient service.
(5)Kim C.
I work very close by, so I eat here almost weekly. It is amazingly wonderfully deliciously fabulous! Family owned *and* operated, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Always packed at the height of the lunch hour, so parking can be tricky and you should probaby expect to wait for a table if you arrive between 11:45 and 1. Outside of that window it's faster, but even when you wait, it's totally worth it. The steady menu is solid with a variety of quiche served with a huge side salad (LOVE their house dressing), entree-sized salads that are seriously awesome (especially the goat cheese salad in my opinion - tons of mixed greens and other veggies with ample servings of bread crumb coated and then toasted/fried balls of smooth delicious goat cheese), tons of hot and cold sandwiches - their version of a Cuban isn't exactly a cuban (no pickles!) but it is a delicious pork loin, ham & cheese sandwich! They have croques (madame or monsieur) that are fabulous with the appropriate balance of ham, bechamel, and swiss cheese. They have bruschette - basically a bread-based pizza, with a variety of toppings, and the french onion soup is always flowing. (I tend to have to add salt to the french onion soup, but I prefer that to something that is served already over-salted.) But this is just the daily lunch menu. There's also a breakfast menu (I'm much less familiar with it), breakfast specials, and daily lunch specials, many of which I've tried and loved. Not to mention perfectly crusty French baguette you can buy by the loaf, or all of the drool-inspiring prepared pastries: cookies, tarts, torts, truffles, eclairs, buns, croissants, danishes, etc., that live in the glass-cased refrigerator, taunting you not to stick to any form of diet. The coconut rocher is a particular favorite of mine - it's basically a merengue cookie with gobs of chewy sweetened coconut in the middle. Sometimes they even have them dipped in chocolate - what?! Heavenly.
(5)Allison L.
French Bakery in Santa Fe? You betcha. How delicious and happy my tummy was after I encountered this lovely little place. A whiff of fabulousness engulfs you when you walk in. Full bakery, fresh pastries, breads, teas, coffees....EVERYTHING! I had the most DELICIOUS Cafe Mocha (take that Starbucks!) and chicken salad sammy (their special of the day) on a french baguette. BF had a ham/spinach Quiche and was licking the plate. Very manly if you ask me. Lovely place. The waiter obviously knew we were from out of town (YAY TX!) he so nicely told us "We LOVE tourists". Yea, I bet. Excellent place. The owner speaks French when you go up to pay. A definite must. MERCI MADAME!
(5)Rachel M.
Food was good but the servers (one particular female) need some etiquette training. I am a female as well & former waitress & was there with my boyfriend & his family. The waitress set the bill directly in front of me twice as if she was expecting me to pay! Super unintentional I'm sure but very rude in restaurant etiquette. So ladies, if you're there on a date expect to get the bill ;)
(3)Terry M.
We saw this little place while getting gas across the street and decided to try it. Now, from reading previous reviews I understand all the cars! The place is tiny, but if you have to wait you get to stand next to their pastry cases.....and drool. The French Onion Soup was the best, with not too much cheese and great broth flavors. The Roast Beef Sand on a Baguette was the best.....we credit this to the serious amount of dijon that came on it. The fresh greens salad that we got with the sand was so fresh and light...great vinaigrette. So on our way out we picked up a few pastries and certainly ran over our lunch budget, but who cares....everything was absolutely top qualify. The place is small and cute and the servers attentive. Can't wait to go back and try breakfast or another lunch as the quiche dishes I saw come out looked good too.
(5)Jennie B.
Deliciousness comes out of this kitchen. The omelette of the day was goat cheese, roasted tomatos, ham and it was just delicious. The bread basket of baguette and butter was refilled twice, it was THAT good. Everyone enjoyed their food for breakfast -- the only complaint I have, is the noise level and lack of parking. If they could do something to dampen the noise -- one had to scream to the person adjacent in order to be heard over the packed restaurant, it would be even more enjoyable. And the parking situation -- there should be a sign saying that across the street, you can still park for Clafoutis, because there's a sign out there now saying if you park there, your car will be towed away. I had to park at a meter 3 blocks away for brunch at 10:30 AM. Not good. But the food -- and the service -- VERY good.
(4)Mark H.
Loved this place. Was in town on vacation, and Yelp came through as usual. Very friendly staff, owner greeted us personally. Food was fresh and delicious! Beware not to get too full on the bread before the rest of your food arrives!
(5)Ricardo M.
This is a family owned place and you definitely feel at home. Service is great and the food is fantastic. They seem to be serious about using fresh high quality ingredients. The pastries are as they should be, with the right measure of sweet, not the usual "sugar surrounded with dough" you find in almost every other bakery. Be aware that parking is a bit challenging, and you will be waiting for some minutes in line because the place is popular (a good sign). I strongly recommend you to go there.
(5)Matt H.
The service, atmosphere, and quality of food was choice! To make the experience even better, each server spoke with a French accent. This restaurant is located just outside of the historic Santa fe downtown, but it is well worth the trip out. We enjoyed a breakfast of waffles topped with fresh fruit, powdered sugar, and chocolate. The crepes looked fantastic, but we were full before we could order any. Definitely, A sweet start to the morning. Other more savory options included a variety of omelets.
(5)Charisse M.
This place was amazing. My husband and I got the ABC omelet and the Provencale omelet. Then shared the peach crepe. It was the best breakfast we've ever had. And the bread at the beginning is unreal. Crispy outside with a light airy inside. Delish.
(5)Marina N.
I really enjoyed my plain crepe with apricot jam. I liked that they gave a mini jar of bonne maman jam, instead of a container that everyone and their mother reaches their fingers into. Hubby enjoyed his bruschetta and my friend enjoyed her egg on croissant. I also enjoyed my gazpacho! The clafoutis itself was available in peach and another flavor. It's served warm. I don't think I've ever had clafoutis before so I can't compare it but I wished there was a bit less doughy stuff. Hubby liked his rocher.
(4)Sarah O.
Really wish we could have eaten here, but the parking situation is ridiculous. Just be warned if you try to go here, be prepared with as much patience as you can muster to handle the parking situation.
(3)Jill B.
I love this place! Best crepes and croissants I've ever had in the US. Sandwiches and soups are also great and don't forget the pastries.
(5)Elisha W.
Absolute delisciousness! Best pastries ever! And only true French bread in NM
(5)Pier S.
Wandered in out of the cold and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The green chile quiche is delicious and came with a good, fresh salad. It was crowded so the service was a little slow but the server was so nice and the lunch was so good, it did not matter. We got a few meringues on the way out the door - they were okay. Nice lunch, good value for the price, I would happily eat here again.
(4)Spaceman S.
Actually the coffee is mediocre, and it depends on who makes it. The owners hot daughter makes it pretty good. The baked goods still rock. I've never eaten here, but it's always packed. Parking is stupid.
(3)Helen W.
A charming little French bistro in Santa Fe. It offers French pastries in addition to the menu items.
(4)Sandy K.
This place is wonderful! It is very French and the food is so delicious. The pastries are all baked fresh and are crazy good. The pistachio macarons...wow! Breakfast was simply perfect! I will return many times. One of my favorite places in Santa Fe.
(5)Matt C.
My favorite (non-Mexican) lunch place in Santa Fe. The food and value are outstanding. The service is great (although it is not a speedy place). Ann (the owner) is from France and is just a pleasure to interact with. I have been here at least once a month for the last 3 years!
(5)Rich G.
I must say I'm excited to discover this gem has opened in Santa Fe. The bakery is quite delightful....delicate croissants and fulfilling baguette. My omlete was perfectly prepared and complimented with a coffee that provided a stable earthiness to the meal. The fact that it appears to be a French family-owned establishment only adds an enchantment to the place.
(4)H M.
This time I had the house salad and the pork paté. They must be the two worst things on the menu. My fault for ordering a salad with chorizo, pine nuts, bleu cheese and out of season tomatoes. It was gnarly. And I think the worst thing was that they put a little pile of alfalfa sprouts on top of everything like a Troll Doll hairpiece surprise for everyone. The pork paté with olives tasted like mung bean death. I was jealous of the Croque Madame that was being inhaled near me. But of course it came delivered with a pile of damn sprouts too. I think it's a bad time of year with nothing pretty to put on plates, so someone thought of sprouts - the same way people think of sewing teddy bears onto sweaters and giving them out as x-mas presents to grown adults. Like mung beans smell, sprouts taste - like death.
(4)Amanda M.
I enjoyed our breakfast at Clafoitis. We had our dogs with us so we squeezed on the very small patio, but we were happy the option was there. The place was packed for a Monday at 10am. The pastry counter is impressive and could have easily spent quite a bit of money there. I have the croque madame which was quite good. The bechamel sauce was light and fluffly and the ham was good quality and very tasty. I didn't quite understand the sprouts tucked under the perfectly cooked egg, but it didn't change the fact that it was fabulous. The kids split a nutella crepe, which was devoured. My husband had the "large" waffle with fruit. There was about two cups of fresh fruit on the bad boy, but the waffle itself was half of a typical Belgian waffle size. He said it was good but the term "large waffle" threw him. Honestly breakfast was a bit pricey. I was really the only one that was completely satisfied with my choice. We also picked up a selection of pastries for the trip back. The croissant was amazing. The Brioche was very dry and disappointing. The basic french roll was superb and the handful of other bready items that we consumed were very good. We will return when we are in Santa Fe again, but we will likely go for lunch instead.
(4)Jennifer S.
The pastries are fresh and yummy. Fresh squeezed OJ - amazing! We had the special of the day which was eggs benedict on a brioche. Perfect. The service staff was very friendly and super fast. Loved it.
(5)Juan-Diego G.
Quality. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Clafoutis. I'm a New Mexico native, and I've been to many restaurants around these parts, but Clafoutis has to be one of my top 3 of all time. The service is always great and the food never disappoints, no matter what I get. The portions for the price, taking in to account the quality of ingredients used, are generous. Sometimes I order "The Country" and it's too much for me to handle (A 6 foot 170 pounder). Yay! I'm going tomorrow with my family. If there is one negative thing about this restaurant, it's that they sometimes take a vacation back home in France so they will close the restaurant. O'well. It can't be perfect.
(5)Jesseca T.
Met a new friend here for lunch this past Monday. I had a spinach and ricotta quiche that came with a side spinach salad- very good quiche, nice crust on it that was flaky and yummy, and the salad was not overdressed. I also had a cafe au lait (which was excellent!). My friend had the chicken salad sandwich. Lunch with 20% tip and some bakery goods came to $37, which is a good deal for quality food. There were not a lot of vegetarian options without modifying the menu, which I don't like to do because the kitchen is usually busy enough. Less one star for ridiculous parking options, I fortunately had to ship something at Kinko's so parked there and walked across the street. Less one star for not having a wine list- you read this correctly, it's a French restaurant, but there was no wine list. Therefore, I will whine for them- heh heh - Seriously though, quiche is great with a glass of white wine....they were made for each other. Now onto the highlights: I stopped at the bakery on the way out for some to-go treats: a Bavarian Cream-filled eclair, a raspberry croissant, and a strawberry shortcake bun. I tasted the shortcake and me and my little girl both agreed this was a very good dessert. My husband got the other two items for breakfasts, and said he would definitely buy them again as they were fresh and very good. Service was friendly and prompt, this place filled up pretty quickly even on a slower lunch day so plan accordingly. I'd come back here again, maybe this weekend with the fam for some pastries and coffee...Their sign said they did beignets on Saturdays so I'd like to check that out. Good find.

Clafoutis is a little bit of France in Santa Fe. This place is to die for. The breakfast is excellent but I highly recommend the Salami Sandwich on homemade bread. They also have a gigantic bakery case with amazing, home baked goods. The beignets are awesome! I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because of two things: 1) The parking is horrible. It's a tiny little lot and always busy. 2) It's a tiny little restaurant and always busy. There's not much room to wait other than right in the doorway. But that is a testament to how good this place really is.

I was elated to find Clafoutis when visiting Santa Fe. The atmosphere was lovely, the waitresses were friendly, and the food was divine. I ordered les cagettes, the country version, and was blown away. This meal comes with country patte, ham, two types of cheese, AMAZING butter, delicious mustard, housemade bread, a side salad, and the dessert of the day. It's definitely enough food to share, but it was so good that I barely let anyone else taste my food. Words cannot describe how wonderful it all was--- the cheeses, the strong mustard, the patte! The quiche with salmon and leeks was another delicious dish with fresh and surprising favors. Also, the roast beef sandwich was quite tasty. And then there's dessert. Apple tart, puff pastry with strawberry, and lemon pound cake for the road. I wish I could take Clafoutis back home to Texas with me.

This place is wonderful, so French. The first time we went there we had a croissant breakfast sandwich with cheese and ham. It was the best we have ever had. The coffee is also wonderful, as is the service. They greet you in French, which is adds to the French atmosphere. It was so wonderful that we stopped through Santa Fe on our way home to have breakfast there again. We should have ordered the same thing, but we ordered an omelette. It looked beautiful, but we did not like it at all. It had very salty olives in it and was dry. My husband, who is a salt lover, even thought it was way too salty. It is just a matter of knowing what to order and you will be delighted that you went there.

BONJOUR!! I cannot wait to take everyone I know to this place! What a gem. It is tight and cozy, but adorable. The food is presented beautifully, and tastes great, at an affordable price. The staff was very friendly, even through the hectic lunch rush, and everything in the glass case up front looked amazing...Just thinking about the place makes me crave a cup of coffee and a vanilla beignet.

The worst possible experience ever! Please ignore the good reviews and steer clear of this place. 1 star only because yelp doesnt go any lower! They served me an omlet with raw eggs, I sent it back and they returned the same omlet back to me burned to a crisp. I requested a fresh omlet, this one came out more burned than the last. I then asked to speak to the owner. The owner is a rude French Lady with no customer service! She told me there was nothing wrong with my food. She said she has been serving omletes for 10 years and owned a restaraunt for 25. Well if you want to make another 10 years I suggest you fire your cook and find one that can make a simple omlet. Then maybe you could try being friendly and not argumentative. Avoid this place at a costs, find one with a manager that cares about the customer. After all it is the customer that makes the makes a restaraunt run.

Was looking forward to check this place out, along with my French wife... Did not disappoint. Good coffee, great pastries. Would like to see a little more crunch in the baguette but otherwise, all was great. Very friendly staff. Well done.

Great little spot. I went for lunch and had a great sandwich and tart. I will go back when ever I can.

My boyfriend and I ended up coming here for breakfast during our little getaway to Sante Fe, and it was amazing! Everything from the meals to the pastries was fresh and delicious (I highly recommend their fruit tarts.) I even got to exchange some French with the very lovely owner. I only have two complaints about this place. The parking is damn near impossible if you don't get there early enough (We ended up having to park across the street and crossing the intersection) and it was a tad bit cramped for my liking. However, one can easily get over it once you've been presented with great service and even greater food!

Have you ever been to France? The food, the wine, the...food! Well, Clafoutis French Bakery & Restaurant is the closest I've been to France in a couple of years, but I felt magically transported across the Atlantic once I walked in the door. I knew the restaurant was going to be good when we struggled to find a parking place. Luckily my persistence was rewarded and I made my way into line. The line was long, but the wait didn't prove to be as long as I expected - turns out a lot of people were waiting to buy items from bakery. We were seated at a small table and our server, surprise, was French! Apparently the restaurant is owned and operated by a French family. I order the French plate - a salad, French meats and cheeses and a baguette. My husband ordered, well, IDK what he ordered. I was so busy noshing on my delicious French plate. The bread was delicious and just as I remember it. I had so much cheese and meat left that I ordered an additional baguette and made a little sandwich to eat later in the day. My husband ordered a Napoleon and I ordered a fruit tart to go. Man-oh-man! Good stuff. Later in the day my husband asked me why I was smiling. It was because I was thinking about my delicious meal at Clafoutis. Will I go back? I must go back! Don't walk, run to Clafoutis!

One of my favorite brunch places in town. It is typically very crowded from 9-11am so would try to avoid during these times. They have fresh selections of bakery items and great service. We usually order the "Le Special" and a side of waffle w/nutella. What I love is the fact that every meal comes with a cute basket of fresh bread, croissant and jams. I love it!!! I really want to try their french toast w/fresh fruit next time because it looks soooo good whenever I see it. What is annoying is that they are closed on Sundays and are not open for dinner. However, I still give it 5 stars since I love their food.

I'm a Francophile at heart so when I found this piece of Frenchie heaven in Santa Fe, I made it a point to visit for breakfast. My husband had the ham and cheese croissant, which was buttery and indulgent. I had the almond croissant, which was more of a brioche. Both items were washed down with our bowls of Americano and cappuccino. Yes, I said bowls. They literally pour coffee into bowls for us coffee addicts. The staff was lovely and adore the owner greeting us with "bonjour" and thanking us with "au revoir, merci." Her husband was bringing out the baked goods and I heard the dough being kneed in their kitchen. It is one of those enchanting places where the local hippies and yuppies merge over the love of good ambiance and excellent food. Wished we had more days as an excuse to frequent this lovely family-run restaurant.

I visited Santa Fe with a friend and we met up with someone who lives in Santa Fe my friend knows and he took us here for lunch. The food was amazing and not expensive. I bought a baguette and a cafe au-lait to go, and neither were overly expensive. The next morning all of us went here for breakfast and the restaurant was not crowded and no waiting at all. I had tea with breakfast and that was excellent. I also bought some brioche and baguettes to take back with me and they tasted great.

What a delightful little find! On Tuesday morning, my husband and I pulled into the parking lot next to Clafoutis to consult our map and ascertain whether we were headed in the right direction. We weren't. As we prepared to re-enter traffic heading towards Los Alamos, I looked up and noticed the sign for Clafoutis. "Wait a sec," I said to GT. "Let's eat!" "Okay!" said GT, because he's easy like that, and usually up for anything. Especially croissants. We parked in the shade and walked inside the sweet, inviting space, where we were greeted with smiles all around and told to sit wherever we liked. And so we did. I ordered a water (which came in a large former wine bottle (I think) chilled, which was a lovely touch, I thought) and GT had an excellent espresso. Foodwise, I chose the Croque Madame; GT had the Cuban sandwich. The bread was excellent, truly excellent. GT's sandwich featured batard bread that was soft on the inside and crunchy (in a good way) on the outside. My Madame came on exquisitely soft sliced bread with a sunny-side-egg on top that was cooked perfectly. A few choice slices of cucumber and sprouts made my Madame seem almost healthy. (I said almost.) The thick, juicy ham on GT's Cuban got an A+ from this Virginia-ham-born lady. Did I mention the crepes? Oh, lord, the crepes! Nutella Nutella Nutella Nutella Nutella Crepe Nutella. We shared a Nutella crepe, which was a sweet foil for our savory selections. Overall, a most serendipitous find for our "last meal" in Santa Fe. Plus, our leftovers made for a delectable road-trip snack.

NO...this place should not receive the best of Santa Fe for 2010. The fact that this restaurant is receiving any stars at all is because the staff was very cordial and well mannered; however, this place is restaurant by no means can be stamped as good French Bistro cuisine because it is not. We arrived to Clafoutis around 2:00 pm on a Saturday, and it this place was packed. I was excited, but much to my suprise, the flavors did not save them. We orded, a cup of their Onion soup, 1 Cuban Sandwich and 1 Procuitto sandwich with Brie. In addition to 2 Croissants and 1 Chocolate Brioche. and 1 cafe au lait. The sandwiches and soup was not worth the merit of coming here again. Lets begin with the Onion soup, there was lack of depth in the soup, the onions in the soup was mush...tasted like bland baby food. The sandwiches that came out were both pressed, but cold. The Cuban Sandwich had not advertised on the menu to come with tomatoes, but it did so we sent the sandwich back to have it remade. My sandwich the Proiccuitto with melted brie was very uninspiring. The rind of the Brie was not taken off, which i can partly forgive, but what I cannot forgive is a hot sandwich to come out cold. The bagette that the sandwich came on was not crisp like a baguette at a Boulangerie in France would come from; and, it was still lacking in golden brown in color and doughy. If you are going to market yourself as a French Bistro -- Boulangerie -- Patisserie, at least make the basics right... This restaurant definitely had too much hype, and I can guarantee, that I wil lnot be coming here any time soon.

Really, really good. We stopped in for lunch and it was so good we returned for breakfast the following day. Party of 3 both days, so we sampled 6 dishes, and all were excellent. Great food, pleasant place to eat, and nice people.
(5)Stacey B.
This place is simply amazing! We came here on a hunch craving crepes, but they only serve crepes during breakfast. Breakfast was over at 11:30 weekdays, so we did lunch instead. I had a Brie and marinated peppers sandwich and my wife had the Italian Bruschetta. Both were over-the-top delicious. We also split a side of home-made potato chips. The chips were warm, salty and had just enough crunchiness. The portions were huge, amazing us both. We both had water, and I had a bowl of café au lait. Pros: Portions are huge! I'm no small eater, and I couldn't finish my sandwich. Food is incredibly fresh. The bread was soft with a perfect crust. Wait staff is super friendly. They treat you like they are truly honored to you eat there. It appeared to be a local-frequented establishment. Lots of local talk at other tables. The bowl the café au lait was served in was the perfect size. Cons: A touch pricey, but we didn't complain since the portions were so big. I would have preferred a savory crepe for lunch, but I can't hold that against them.

My husband and I are locals, and have eaten here several times, for breakfast as well as lunch. We have tried just about every kind of item on the menu, between the two of us. Everything is fresh, well-prepared, and authentic. My husband is French, and the two of us have spent a good deal of time in France, so we know. The crepes are excellent... but I swear, I had a food orgasm when we had both of Les Cagettes for lunch the other day. I'm not sure what another reviewer was saying when they said the servers spoke with a French accent.. perhaps that was a social experiment on the day he went; the owners are, however, French, and the wife probably attended to his bill from behind the counter. Service, in any event, is always good. The ambiance of the place makes me yearn for France again.
(5)Alex C.
Dropped in today for the first time after much encouragement, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. I tried the Sandwiche au Roast Beef; it was simply delightful. Their homemade baguette is so good, and the way they press it makes it perfectly crispy and oh so delicious! I topped off the meal with a nutella crepe, and well, let me tell you, it was worth every calorie. This place is AUTHENTIC french, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Lunch for 2 was just under $25, so quite reasonable for a very good meal. Plan on returning soon!
(4)John A.
Really shockingly wonderful. The bahn mi-esque roast beef sandwich I devoured for lunch today was one of the best I've ever tasted anywhere. Amazing lemon cake. Bitchin' eclairs. Real live frogs patronizing the place, which is always a good sign. Compares favorably with any bakery in the Bay. Thinking it gets the nod as my favorite place in New Mexico. Note to idiot: bakeries don't have wine lists. Give them that star back.

Got here on a busy busy Saturday morning, so I was expecting to wait. I was really pleased when I sat down cause you get all this free amazing bread when you've been staring at the pastry counter for 30 minutes. I remember the food being kinda ehh, I mean I did order eggs and BACON (not ham, more in a minute), so how wow! could it have been? My entree was kinda ihop quality nontheless. Overpriced too. So yeah, I ordered this thing that was bacon, eggs, and a croissant I believe. When I said bacon, the server wrote ham, and everyone at the table saw that happen and she ran away before we could confirm bacon. Then she gives me ham and runs away...so when she FINALLY gets back over here (also is not filling my poor parched friend's drink she asked for forever ago) I said, "I ordered bacon" in some more creative and pleasant way, and she very rudely challeneged that, saying I said ham, meanwhile everybody's nodding in agreement with me, and I just said that I'd like some bacon in response, so she takes ALL my food away, we sit there forever to get everything remade, and then she's sickly sweet on the return. I'm a big tipper and I didln't leave anything (first time I left no tip) because she was surely rudest server I've ever had. Oh yeah, and she forgot the croissant too, the one I ate wasn't part of my meal. The service was so bad, it actually ruined our breakfast. So if you go, know that this kind of poor service has happened, whether that's common or not, YOU COULD BE NEXT. +1 star for the lobster mold on the wall that looks like a dick and balls. +1 star for incredible pastries/croissants/all the stuff at the counter. Skip everything except the pastry counter and then gtfo.

A true french bakery with pastries so fresh and flaky they literally melt in your mouth, We stopped in on our way to Colorado to get coffee and were blown away by the service and experience we received! A must do!

Thank you Yelpers for pointing us in the right direction. Everything we tried in this wonderful place, each delectable pastry was delicious. My fave was the Almondine. Yummmm !!
(5)Cassie D.
Amazing!! Best breakfast I've had in a long time. The place was packed on a Tuesday morning. The service was excellent, our waitress let us know she was busy and it would be a short wait but we didn't even notice. The best dishes were the Nutella crepe and homemade yogurt and granola. You can't pass up the pastries either.
(5)Laura H.
Je t'aime! My new year's resolution is to yelp and I will start with the delicious little French bakery that requires a visit every time I am in Santa Fe visiting my mom. I love this place. Clafoutis is a tiny shop with the ambiance of a cafe in the French countryside. My go to breakfast is Le Special which includes the highlight of this establishment: the croissants. I don't know if its the altitude, but many baked goods in Santa Fe leave much to be desired. This place delivers on delicious bakery treats. The baguettes are crusty-outside-fluffy-inside perfection. The croissants are a flaky, crispy shell surrounding buttery layers of deliciousness. The coffee and espresso drinks are strong and come in bowl-size mugs. The waitstaff are ALL excellent. I have never had a bad experience with the service. The downside is the parking. Save yourself the headache and park in the lot across the street which is open to customers of this business.

We sat on the front porch and had an absolutely lush brunch during the summer. It was decadent and beautiful. Our table was spread with salmon, crepes, eggs and fresh fruits. The coffee was lovely and being outside the noise inside was barely audible- though i can imagine it was quite loud in there. It was quite literally a perfect brunch and I would eat there regularly during the summer months where sitting outside was possible.
(5)Barb M.
Fantastic little French restaurant. Pastries and breads baked fresh. Delicious turkey sandwich with brie on a baguette. Went there a bit too late for breakfast, but it looked good from the menu!
(4)Amy W.
I am in LOVE with this place! It's pretty much one of the only things I like about Santa Fe. I absolutely cannot wait for Saturday when I know I will be on my way to Clafoutis to feast upon their delicious beignets and cafe au lait..and maybe I'll buy some more pastry treats from the case...they have tons of things to choose from. I also love their french toast and crepes. My husband loves the eggs benedict. Back to the beignets...The beignets here are sooooo much better than the ones from Cafe du Monde in Louisiana. Try them...they are awesome...only served on Saturday though:( The restaurant is always busy...so expect a wait. Parking is an issue, but we were told we could park across the street in a parking lot. There are tow signs in this lot, but we've yet to have a problem. The waitresses are always nice and happy and polite...I've never had a bad experience. But please understand....this is a place where you sit down, order, eat and leave. Don't think that you can sit and chat forever....because lots of people are waiting for their turn at a delicious breakfast. And to the reviewer who felt the need to complain about the temperature of her water and the temperature of her butter.....Really?.....really???? Wow...life must be absolutely freaking fantastic for you if this is what you choose to complain about...a true Santa Fean I assume. Clafoutis...i love you.....keep up the great work!!!
(5)Luster C.
The French plate was fabulous with fresh greens and assorted meats. Perfect for lunch and you can't get a larger assortment of classic French pastries. The waitresses are cheerful, spunky, and full of smiles.
(5)Mark N.
I have had breakfast here a few times and purchased the French pastries many times. I approve! The French woman who runs the place is friendly and always recognized me. She seems to be well connected to France still, which is probably a good thing as far as maintaining authenticity of the food is concerned. The atmosphere is quite nice. Often went here just to buy brioche and other pastries, many sell out quite early in the day and often there is a big line on fridays and saturdays when I was not at work and thus able to go..
(4)Sven J.
Very french and very good. Their baugettes and croissants are as good as the ones you get in France and that is extremely rare to find in the US. I made the mistake of ordering a hot food item as well which was nothing special at all. I should have stuck with just the bread, jams and juice which were terrific. Extra bonus for being able to order and pay in French.
(4)Leigh G.
I was there in mid-June and apparently the restaurant had just reopened after taking some time off for vacation (or should I say vacances?). It was incredible to see diner after diner greet the servers warmly and express their happiness over being able to return after the brief closure. With all that warmth around me, I knew then, before I'd eaten a bite, that I was in for something special. I treated myself to an incredible fresh fruits of the day crepe for breakfast on my birthday. It set the perfect tone for my birthday and it was so amazing that I thought about it all day and realized that I couldn't possibly top it for breakfast the next day, so I returned. I ended up having the same waitress, who recognized me, chatted very nicely with me, and really showed me why the regulars missed them all so much. Truly one of the best meals I've ever had, and such wonderful people, too. I'd give Clafoutis six stars if I could, and hope they're around for years and years to come so that I can one day bring my husband there to enjoy it with me.
(5)Tip T.
Solid brunch option. Good specials. Beignets were light and fluffy. Too bad there's no free coffee refills. Pastries looked tasty but I didn't try any. Service was spotty due to the crowd.
(3)Adam S.
I liked this place. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant with green chiles. It was a nice little breakfast. My waiter was cool. The vibes is that of an actual European bistro.
(4)Dorothy W.
Holy crap this place is fantastic. I'm from San Francisco and have traveled to Paris twice, most recently in 2012. I've even been to Bouchon bakery in napa valley and you know what? I was NOT impressed with Bouchon. These guys at Clafoutis blow away Bouchon - somehow they've channeled the perfection of french baking. Of course, the face that they actually speak french helps a ton! Immediately I was confident in the baked goods when I heard a genuine french accent. Bon appetit! The brioche was perfection: outer glaze with a beautiful crust and the softest bread in the middle. Croissants were magnificent - crackly, soft, buttery. Even the cream puff was perfectly prepared. It was like that amazing chocolate pudding in between a perfect pastry puff - most places ruin it by putting something too sickeningly sweet or chocolaty like mousse when it should actually taste incredibly light - which is why the pudding-like texture works so well. I've only had it in San Francisco this good. These guys care what they put out and it shows. I would seriously come back just for these baked goods. Outstanding in every way. No need to go to france unless of course you want to see the sights but you've got the real food right here!
(5)Eliza M.
This place is cute...and has great food! We needed a break from green & red chile and beans. Clafoutis is located on the north side and since we were there during an off time, there was no wait. We ordered "The Sea" (smoked salmon, shrimp, anchovies, a side salad, fresh baked bread, and dessert of the day which was strawberry cake) and the Cubain sandwich (grilled ham & grilled pork with cheese and mayo, panini style) with fries. Everything was delicious and we devoured nearly all of it. Hey, we were on our way to go hiking! I perused the pastries on our way out. Tiramisu, éclairs, cinnamon buns--yum! I assumed the woman with short hair and French accent was the owner. She was very happy and she should be to own this gem.
(4)Rachel W.
Sooooo cute! The outside and neighboring Lotta Burger had me worried, but inside is adorably decorated with amazing baked goods and even better breakfast food. I had to get crepes at this French restaurant, and they were incredibly delicious with nutella, pineapple, and cream sauce. Sadly I was just visiting because I would go here weekly.
(5)Jeff M.
This is a great little French Cafe. Personal service from the owners. Had the Roast Beef (1/2 sandwich is plenty) and a cup of Onion Soup. Go here if you are in Santa Fe.
(5)JR J.
Best breakfast restaurant in Santa Fe.
(5)Lindsay N.
The chef gets there in the wee hours of the am and starts baking fresh baked goods. The food is amazing. Best French in SF.
(5)Estelle C.
All the things I miss from France are there. Too bad I don't live in Santa Fe. Delicious.
(5)Kat H.
I love Clafoutis. The portions are perfectly sized, the pastries are incredible, and the staff is very nice and agreeable. The breakfasts are lovely, the perfect combinations of fresh flavors. My only problems with the place have nothing to do with the food; parking is a pain, it is always very busy, and therefore can get rather loud. But it is still worth the great food!
(5)Clare M.
I don't want to say too much and have everyone running to my favorite spot and buying all of my favorite dessert leaving me empty handed when I need a fix, but seriously...this place is the effing best!
(5)Mark R.
Excellent! A little crowded, but well worth it. The other patrons where as friendly and helpful as the staff. I can't wait to go back for breakfast.
(4)Ruidoso Valley Chamber Of C.
One of the most delightful experiences in casual dining ever. The staff was gracious, the food exquisite and the presentation was just beautiful! I will never go to Santa Fe again without stopping at Clafoutis.
(5)Ben S.
It's almost impossible to get decent bread in this part of the country. I don't know how they do it, but this place does perfect French bread, soft inside and with a perfect crust. That sets the tone for everything else here. Great food, generous portions, and amazingly inexpensive. Always crowded, and once the tiny parking lot is full, there are not a lot of nearby parking options. But it's definitely worth the trouble!
(5)Nick P.
Great breakfast. French service (if you know what I mean). Amazing croissants. Not really younger kid friendly, if that's what you're looking for.

If you want to enjoy a nice finish to a late lunch, DO NOT ARRIVE AFTER 2:30 PM! My daughter and I were in Santa Fe for our annual late October trip from Tucson to experience the Autumn season with delightfully cool temperatures and beautiful color - escaping the unrelenting Tucson heat. We had read many positive reviews for Clafoutis while in the trip planning stage and decided this was going to be the place for our Friday, and final, lunch (October 26) in town. We arrived at 3:05 PM and were aware of the 4:00 PM closing time. We ordered the Salade Charlotte and The Country, neither of which required cooking time. The restaurant had only one other table that was occupied. The polite but somewhat harried server did not speak French, as some other reviewers had mentioned. Our generous and lovely meals arrived within ten minutes. We were both delighted with the quality of our selections, were fully enjoying ourselves, recounting our wonderful last few days in Northern New Mexico and saying how we would certainly write very positive reviews for this restaurant. We were nearly finsihed and ready to ask for take home boxes when the server came to the table about 3:35 PM and asked that I select a dessert that was a part of my order. At 3:40 PM this server began to loudly stack the dining chairs upon the tables. He came to our table asking us to take care of the bill and delivered the to go boxes at 3:45 PM. We said nothing about the "rush", transferred the remaining food into the boxes and promptly paid the bill, leaving several minutes before the 4:00 PM closing time. Upon exciting the dining area moving toward the front door, we had to walk through the floor sweepings - not a particularly pleasant sight nor last memory of the lunch. I want to emphasize that both my daughter and I have worked in public businesses with stated closing times and would NEVER rush customers. We were obviously near completing our transaction. At closing time, we might offer a polite and gentle reminder of the hour. Note, that we had already indicated the need for boxes to go. We are very respectful of other's time. This behavior led us to make the opening review comment. In summation: Manners poor; Food very good; Go early!
(2)Tena Z.
I love this quaint little cafe! The French pastries are all homemade and not only delicious but beautiful! The breakfast carmelized peach crepes excellent Very relaxed casual atmosphere. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. A must if you are in Santa Fe!
(5)George M.
We had Les Cagettes ($12.50), one each of The Country and The Sea. They must be operating on low margins, as they could easily add a few dollars to the price. Nice bucolic Mediterranean fare. The interior needs decorating by a professional, especially given their location in the second-largest art market in the United States after NYC. This was my first time and I plan to return again and again and again.
(4)Maritza K.
LOVE this place, this is the best brioche outside of Paris!! Actually I am sure it was not as good as Calfoutis. HATE the parking, the last time I stopped to pick up 2 loafs, I got stuck in between cars, but this lovely handsome tourist, that was watching me as I turned left and turned right, took pity on me and got my car out :)))) Je adore!! I love, love the staff, and the owner, she is sooo cool. I hate that I have to go so early and all tourists wake up so early and take my spot ;( Oh one more thing, they should bake more stuff!! :))) Or I should get up earlier...;(
(4)Leland T.
Great food! Terrible service! The last two times we went to this restaurant the server was very rude. But it was my birthday and I wanted to have a special lunch so we thought we'd try again. Well we all wanted to start off with water with lemon and a iced tea. Upon dropping our drinks at the table we were told that they had run out of cut lemons and since they were closing in thirty minutes they would not cut anymore. After I recovered from the shock of this statement,( I was pretty determined to have a good meal for my birthday) I asked the waitress to bring me a whole lemon because I would just cut it myself. She rolled her eyes and then showed back up with cut lemons a minute later. We should have followed my instincts and left because this set the tone for the whole meal. Our orders were wrong, food was at times tasteless, and the waitress became this weird uncomfortable fake super sweet. It was a horrible experience and I will not be going back. This was the third time I had eaten there and the third time it was a horrible experience due to service. If you like being treated like at the very least a human, go somewhere else. I will never be recommending this place to anyone!
(1)evan g.
Enjoyable experience, a charming French cafe with great paninis and run by a wonderful family.
(3)Christine H.
This is the real deal, go early! We stayed down the street during a vacation and luckily found this delightful bakery early on so we could eat there every morning. I tried many breakfast items, and some sweet treats for later in the day, and all were buttery perfection. On Sat, we couldn't get in the door, and we noticed they fill up even on week days, so go early because you can't miss out!
(5)Jenn E.
Man am I bummed that we didn't find Clafoutis until our last morning in Santa Fe otherwise, we probably would have gone there every morning. We went of a Friday morning and there was a short 5-10 minute wait. I spotted the almond croissant but wanted to order a bigger breakfast so I thought I'd order the croissant on our way out as a snack for our road trip. Big mistake! I should have grabbed one right then because by the time we were done with our breakfast they were out!! I ordered the coconut waffles which were heavenly. I also got the lemon cake for my in-laws and they said it was delicious. I just wish I could have tried more things on their menu. They also had a caramelized peach crepe that I was dying to try. Defintely will go back on our next visit to NM!
(5)Jennifer B.
Normally I would have nothing but praise for this small yet charming establishment in the heart of Santa Fe. Yet my less-than-stellar experience yesterday leaves me a little disappointed. First off we wait for approximately 20 minutes before getting a table. Secondly, the service is quite awful. A water bottle was brought to our table without drinking glasses. We had to ask for those, which came 10 minutes later. My life partner and myself ordered the French onion soup which is usually amazing. It was very bland this time. I also ordered the goat cheese salad which was drowned in an oily, bland dressing. I don't think I'll be going back for a while.

For breakfast in Santa Fe, most people recommended I check out Pasqual's. However, once I tried Clafoutis I didnt want to go anywhere else! I was in Santa Fe for only one week but ate here four times- the day we discovered it and every day after. My favorite was the coconut French toast. They infused the typical batter with coconut and topped it with more coconut flakes. It was crispy outside and moist in the center. The two slices of brioche were sandwiched around fresh fruit: strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, blackberries, banana, and sometimes cherries with melon on the side. Although this was offered as a special, it was available every day we were there (and yes, I ordered it each day!). From the standard menu, the provencale omelette was delicious. The addition of herbs de provence made this special, and I appreciated that the cheese didn't overpower the omelette like I'm used to- normally that turns me off from omelette but this was delicious. Other specials we tried were a smoked salmon & spinach crepe and a smoked salmon eggs Benedict. The Benedict was rich and lemony- too rich for me but my husband finished it off no problem. The crepe was excellent- light, great texture, and fully packed with salmon, spinach, and sour cream. They don't skimp on the ingredients here. They also have a full assortment of pastries. Their beignets were light and fluffy, topped with powdered sugar. During our Saturday brunch, most tables ordered a generous heaping stack of them. I also tried a pain du chocolat, which was good. Not a fan of the chocolate chip cookie but I tend to prefer chewier cookies, which this was not. They are open for breakfast and lunch, and tend to be relatively busy around lunchtime. Brunch on Saturday was especially full- great to see a packed place that locals enjoy. Several people we spoke with were so happy with their food they wanted to tell everyone around them about it- the tables are fairly close together so that sense of community was fairly strong. Most of the others we spoke with ordered & were happy with their French toast, various omeletees, or massive fresh salads. Bonus? Most of their menu items are around $8-10, with the smoked salmon crepe as the most expensive we ordered at $11.50. For large and delicious portions, these prices are very reasonable. One final interesting note about Clafoutis- the entire French-speaking population of Santa Fe must come here. The owner appears to be from France, and several of the waitstaff also spoke native Fench to the French-speaking customers. All the staff were very friendly, especially a tall non-French waiter who knew "our table" and my side of the order (mmm... coconut french toast...). It's the personal touches that make a difference, and they certainly have that here. Now, in my first morning back home, I am craving that coconut French toast, perhaps with a few bites of the provencale omelette on the side. If I ever make it back to Santa Fe, you can bet I will be at Clafoutis every morning of my stay there. Also, as a bonus for travelers: the Santa Fe Worldmark is only a block away, which makes for a lovely walk to breakfast.

The place is cute, the servers are French, stylish, and yet somehow remain friendly, the pastries sure look good... So, the clientele is over the hill baby boomers who probably enjoy their vacations in the state rooms of Norwegian cruise liners. It is Santa Fe after all and I'm still trying to figure out where the hip artists are to be found, perhaps they can't afford to eat out. The real test of a bakery, especially a French bakery, in my view is the bread and the pastries. Just to reply to the 1 star review below, I can attest to the fact that there is lots of bad break in France, so get off your high horse. However, this bread ranked only one step above the grocery story bakery with its crunchy crust and moist crumb with no texture. However, in my experience good bread and good pastries rarely coincide, so lets move on to the croissant. While not the most handsome croissant, the outside is flaky with a bit of crunch, and the inside is moist but still maintaining a great texture and lightness. The butter is wonderful, no need for additions to this. All in all, a very good croissant, not the best I've had in the US, but close. Clafoutis gets a 4 star rating, well done! PS. Just a note on calibration, 5 stars, 'as good as it gets.'

Visiting Santa Fe and stopped in while on a walk to grab a few pastries to take back to the family for breakfast. Atmosphere is very charming making me wish I had the time to sit and eat to get the whole experience. I didn't know that beignets were a Saturday treat, but they were wonderfully light and sweet as were the chocolate Madeleines and a few miniature croissants. The entire selection was delicious and I plan to make a return visit on Monday when they open again because this first experience was so extraordinary!

A great carryout for beignets, croissants du amandes, and pain du chocolate. That's all that I've tried so far. They also make a large number of other pastry items, and have table service for a breakfast menu. Clafoutis is open from 7a to 5p Monday through Saturday. It's too easy to miss this tiny spot, set back and sandwiched as it is between a "martinizer" and a burger joint, and surrounded by a very small parking area. The beignets are lighter and crisper than those at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, which I think of as an improvement. This one factor is responsible for my giving Clafoutis four stars. It could have been five stars (for the type of place that this is) were it not for the light-handedness in the filling of the croissant du amandes, and it's rather stark exterior decoration/texture (a bit too smooth). This might be the only place in New Mexico where you can place your order in French and be rewarded with a grand smile of connection and appreciation. Tomorrow, I hope to have the sit down breakfast and also try one of the more elaborate pastries, which look mighty fine. 8/13/2008 sat down for breakfast with Lupe. The Eggs Benedict were very good, improved with petite slices of olives. The plain croissant unbeatable, the espresso very good. Too bad that the beignets are on Saturdays only. Goodbye New Mexico, for now.

This place shines Santa Fe! The service, breads, coffee, ... very good.
(5)Brian H.
Great little French cafe, prices reasonable and food and service is good. Great pastries and bread. The only drawback that I could find is the parking sucks but it's worth the hassle.
(4)N A.
I'm so happy to find this place... Finally, real French bread in a small American town! All of the sudden, I like living in Santa Fe even more! I liked my other food (eggs etc..) too, but mainly, I really really enjoyed the bread. I wish there was a little bread window outside to buy bread without having to deal with the restaurant crowd though. It's very busy during the weekend, and I would stop by this place every weekend if it's much easier to pick things up!
(5)Peter C.
Clafoutis, oui oui oui!!! I thought I was in a Parisian boulangerie! Really excellent. I can't wait to try the beignets on Saturdays.
(5)Claire C.
Not impressed. Service was fine, atmosphere pleasant enough, but food only so-so. My omelet was sort of dry and not particularly tasteful. Our other omelet (the ABC) was good enough. The mixed berry clafoutis was decent. Probably will not return - there are too many other good places to eat breakfast in Santa Fe.
(3)Adam S.
Phenomenal place! Some of the best pastries I think I've ever had. Rich, buttery, decadent, flakey. It's not just the best in the area, it's one of the best, period. The pastry chef NEEDS to write a book. I would work there just to learn from him/her if I lived in Santa Fe. Someday a real reviewer from a real publication is going to find this place and it will really take off. Even items as mundane as the dinner rolls and the apricot sweetrolls were spectacular. Pure artistry, particularly the breads. In the week we were in Santa Fe we were in there at least 5 times (admittedly we were staying pretty close by.) I could go through the menu item by item but suffice to say it was all great. If you're any kind of foodie at all, you MUST try this place! Worth the trip from anywhere in the Southwest, or even from most of the country for that matter. A true find. Yes, the miniscule parking lot is wretched.

Some douche emailed my girlfriend about her "experience" telling her she was not being fair to CLAW FOOT US but the fact is that this was a mutual experience that 2 people had and it blew or sucked... not sure which. Again....where is my Zero star rate.
(1)Robert S.
Consistently a superior experience. The customer is warmly greeted by (I believe) the owner- a charming French woman. Expect a wait, especially late morning, The place is tiny and very popular. The menu is small, but offers delightful sweet and savory choices. Their Provencale omelet is as good as I've ever tasted. The French toast is top notch- loaded with fresh fruit. Top the meal off with a hearty cup of coffee and you've got a little slice of heaven. I make a pilgrimage to Clafoutis every time I'm in Santa Fe.
(5)Frank O.
I've eaten all over Santa Fe for breakfast, and somehow this passed me by, till today. The cheery Bonjour on entry sets the tone for this happy, comfortable neighborhood restaurant. Excellent light, fresh omelet with real baguette and plusgras butter. Had to take out a croissant on my way out the door, and that was superb. Cheery, polite service too. I think Clafoutis is my new favorite!
(4)Andrew N.
I expected to find myself on a street in Montmarte after walking out of here after an incredible lunch. I had the overwhelming urge to sit there all day eating pastry drinking cafe and discussing the shortcomings of the American lifestyle as only an expat can. Try the Les Cagettes and any of the pastries. Viva la Clafoutis!
(4)Rebel Y.
Savory crepes and omeletters for a hearty, yet filling, breakfast. Meat & cheese plate for those who don't want to eat eggs or crepes. Excellent French coffee. Bustling yet very cozy atmosphere -- the wait staff really walks thru really really fast, but they also keep their eyes open & do a good job of noticing when you need something. Very comfortable for conversation with a friend, even when every table is full. I often see families there with a couple of kids -- it's accommodating for families. The glass counter case up front is filled with lots of desserts and all the breads, brioches, etc that you would expect any French bakery to have -- and it's all made right there on site. My favorite is a spinach, swiss cheese, mushroom crepe -- which is not on the menu, but just ask, & they'll whip one up for you even if it's not one of the specials that day. The freshly baked French bread basket is crusty & soft & tempting -- and comes with tiny single-serve jars of strawberry jam & orange marmelade, plus a "pat" of butter about as big as a deck of cards!
(4)Trip R.
I'm local and eat here often. Reminds me of a cafe in a charming French village: Papa in the kitchen; Maman behind the counter with an eagle eye on all goings on and a fille or two serving. Croissants and palmiers are out of this world. Egg dishes have always been perfect. Great for breakfast if you tire of Santa Fe's ubiquitous breakfast burritos. Good, healthy-sized salads, quiches, and a variety of sandwiches available for lunch.
(5)Terra S.
Amazing savory foods, great breads, and fantastic desserts. We arrived about an hour before closing time though and although the service was fast, it seemed like we were interrupting the waitress. My only recommendation is to be a little more friendly.
(4)Leahi M.
I have not actually sat down to eat at Clafoutis yet, however most Saturdays I enjoy getting their Beignets...they are really delicious and have become quite addicting. It definitely makes my life easier when I don't have the time to make a batch of Cafe Du Monde's beignets! I definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants great pastries!
(4)Tom H.
We attempted to eat breakfast at this place twice on two consecutive days, but were unable to get a table each time within a reasonable wait. On the second day we placed our name on a "waiting list, " but were never seated. Two other patrons simply strolled in and took empty tables and were served. We asked about this, but the restaurant did nothing to remedy the situation. The list, until we complained about people "just sitting down," was unmonitored. There was no one taking names, the list was just sitting there on a section of the counter unattended. The level of disorganization was palpable. I cannot comment on the quality of the food, but it looks very appetizing. Parking is terrible; clearly they have outgrown their space. Not worth the effort in this town with so many superior food options.
(1)Deb G.
Had breakfast 4 times in 4 weeks and all were wonderful. Took food home & also, very delicious. Very busy place so grab a cup of mocha coffee & enjoy.
(5)BRANCH W.
What a charming place! I stumbled upon it and was thrilled! Delicious brioche french toast with fresh fruit, robust coffee, great atmosphere, and wonderful, friendly service. Looking over the menu I decided that my next (hopefully longer) stay in Santa Fe will mean sampling lunch and dinner as well. Don't hesitate....EAT HERE!!!
(5)Sam A.
Wow! How did this place fall past my radar? I tried it for lunch today and this place, albiet somewhat new, was pretty much packed with people at the late hour of 3:00! I was greeted with a "Bonjour" and had my roast beef sandwich and a cup of really inexpensive soup in under 5 minutes! All the servers were friendly and after looking at the menu in depth, I'm a total fan. Yes, I'll be back.
(4)Ella N.
Incredibly kind and appreciative service, if spotty, harried, and forgetful at times. My diet is limited and they were pleased to adjust the order to suit it, kind and not bothered. The salads are generous and fresh. Clafoutis is popular, and thus, a wait is common, but it's so casual and enjoyable, an easy pleasant breakfast/lunch, that it's worth it. Parking is a pain; walk or take your bike, that's better anyway.
(4)Joe M.
One word for breakfast: yummy! We tried it once and ended up returning the next 3 days. Parking can be a hassle.
(5)Crow R.
Where do I begin! This place is a complete delight!! Yum Yum Yum every time!! From the time you walk in and are greeted by the owner en francais to the just as sincere good bye when you are leaving...everything about this little french spot is amazing. The waitstaff is always super friendly and fun not always super on top of it like you would expect in a fancier place but still good service. The food is delicious, good proportions and fair prices. And if you don't have a lot of time just pop in for a croissant or other yummy baked good and be on your way! Au Revoir!
(4)Melyssa H.
The food here is delicious, and the dessert case VERY tempting. The french onion soup is superb, and the tuna bruscetta thing is also really good. I'm pretty picky about my coffee and theirs is excellent. The only drawback; the service is not great. Not only is it a bit slow/inattentive, but all 3 times I've gone, the servers seemed unhappy and unfriendly.
(4)R R.
Great bread, great sweets, great coffee, amazing salads. This is a wonderful place for brunch and lunch, but the parking is impossible. Walk if you can.
(5)Jillian P.
The best! I love this place and the family that runs it. We live about 2 blocks from the restaurant and love popping in for bread and pastries. You'll be pretty happy with anything you order here: breakfast, lunch, pastries, etc. So delicious, fresh and reasonably prices for Santa Fe. This is one of the only places that I don't feel like I'm laying tourist prices in my own town. Love being greeted by the blonde woman up front with the amazing earrings! Such a happy place.
(5)Julia B.
I loved this place and so wish I could give it five stars. The parking lot was full and we struggled to find a spot. Walking inside, the place was packed and we could barely fit inside the door. But the servers were immediately responsive and asked us how many were in our group. We decided to just order to-go so we could take our food to the plaza downtown. We waited in the to-go line for about 10 minutes. Waiters struggled to get around the line and the tables as it was so crowded. The staff were very sweet and attentive, asking us if we needed this or that. The service was quick, and we were out of there without waiting terribly long seeing as how busy it was. The food, though, was the best. It was so delicious. I had a fruit crepe (bananas, strawberries, cantaloupe, and a little chocolate syrup drizzle). One of the best crepes I've had. I also had half of a pain au chocolat, which was also very good. Overall, if the place wasn't so crowded, this would be a 5 star review. But then again, a crowded place means that it must be good, which the food was in fact very good.
(4)Kara D.
Love, love, love this place! Getting tired of the adobe? This will transport you to simple France for an hour. Amazing breads, meals, pastries... Parking is a bear, but worth wherever you end up walking from. Yum!
(5)Kathy S.
Yes, it IS worth the wait! We parked a few blocks away and walked over. Not an issue since we were planning to consume more than our fair share of calories here. Cynthia was our server, and she was friendly and super efficient. I had the bacon cheese avocado omelette. My beau had the special--an open faced sandwich with asparagus, a thick slab of bacon immersed in a layer of gooey, warm cheese, and topped with an easy over egg. Before departing, we picked up a chocolate truffle--The absolute BEST I've ever had, as well as a strawberry tart (haven't tried it yet) and a lemon cookie.
(5)Chels N.
Oui, this place is fantastic. Small, quaint, French, comfortable and not in the middle of the Plaza. Still walkable from downtown. We did not have a car and got here just fine. This was a perfect, quasi romantic spot to have a leisurely brunch on a rainy day. You can tell by eating here that this is a favorite for the locals; I did not notice too many tourists, but plenty of repeat clients. The staff is tres friendly and accommodating, and for a Saturday lunch, only a few minute wait for a table. Be sure to place your order for any dessert offering prior to the end of your meal. Otherwise, you may be crying over the fact that the dozen or so chocolate croissants you saw when you entered the restaurant are no longer available. Le sigh. The sandwiches are filling - the salami was especially good. French onion soup could have been a bit warmer, but it was amazing nonetheless. Such a perfect little spot.
(5)hsueh y.
I went there by myself so my experience may be a little different from others: The wait was quite long and everyone was crammed in a tiny entrance space. There was not waiting area. My waitress was very friendly but I didn't got much attention from her. Other tables all got a bread basket and I didn't so I have nothing to soak up the yummy egg yolk with. And I asked for water twice and never got it. I also ordered the canalized peach crepe. It was a major disappointment. The peaches was canned peach so it still taste like canned peach. The drizzled chocolate sauce was delicious but it really doesn't go with the peach. The crepe is a little pale and thick. If you want to order crepe, I think a Nutella or sugar crepe will be more tasty here. I saw some French toast went by and they look amazing. Waffles look good too. For the food I got, I will not return for such a long wait. I also bought some pastry to go. Pistachio eclair is delicious. So are almond tart and vanilla custard beignet. Brioche and lemon cake is a little dry.

We were in Santa Fe for just 2 days, and after eating cafeteria food at the ski slopes for 2 days and Mexican food for 2 dinners, we were ready for a change. Thank you Yelp for helping us discover this amazing, hidden gem! The restaurant isn't very large, and parking is pretty limited also. Luckily, we got there somewhat early before it got really busy. The service was superb, and the workers there all spoke in their adorable French accents. I was very impressed with the menu in that they offered a large variety of foods, all for a very reasonable price. I decided on the caramelized peach crepe with ice cream and whip cream on top and shared that with my friend who ordered the croque madame. Everything was absolutely delicious. The crepes were very large which is something I feel like a lot of restaurants tend to lack on. Also tried some of my friend's nutella crepe which you really can't go wrong with. At the end of the meal, even though we were all stuffed, we all bought stuff at the bakery to take home. I got a lemon cake for my parents which we all loved. Great place to go in Santa Fe if you're looking for a break from Mexican food!
(5)Sophie M.
Croissant, crepe (with Nutella and fruit/ice cream and Nutella), French toast and omelette were FANTASTIC! would definitely recommend.
(5)Susan V.
Good morning coffee and pastry! All the pastries are fresh and flaky just how you'd expect! I got the eggs, croissant and bacon...all good but the bacon wasn't as crispy as I like. The service was super friendly, but not super attentive...but it was a crowded holiday Saturday morning.
(4)L M.
I would give the general food on the menu 4-5 stars. Best omelette I've ever had. However I ordered a cake for my son's birthday and it was the most disappointing cake I've ever ordered. I paid $37 for a very dry and rather tasteless cake. No one at the party finished their piece and I literally tossed the remaining cake in the trash. I would go there again to get an omelette but never ever order a cake from here!
(3)Fina H.
The breakfast special of pasciuto and pesto eggs benedict was amazing, coupled that with a nice vanilla latte bowl.....it literally comes out in a small bowlI would definitely come back!
(5)Jodi H.
I admit, I went home after getting breakfast here and googled what "clafoutis" meant. You should do so, just so you know what it means! We were welcomed into this tiny and unassuming cafe by all of the staff with a Bonjour and smiles on a busy Monday morning. My family was leaving to travel towards Taos during our road trip from CA. We decided on Clafoutis because of the grand yelp reviews...and were SO HAPPY we decided this place. We family-style'd their famous Monte Cristo, berries crepe, clafoutis, and raspberry vanilla brioche. The clafoutis is a MUST. The dough is unlike anything I've ever had...custard-y but not wet or drippy, with a hint of dough-like bread consistency. MM it was amazing, and all of us devoured the food like rabid dogs. The coffees and food took a while to come out, with the brioche being the first one out for at least 5 minutes because it was plated from the entrance pastry display. But even though the food took a little long to come out, the servers were always on the move, smiling, and greeting the incoming customers standing there for 30+ minutes. We were lucky that when we walked in, the rush hadn't started yet...so we waited for about 15 minutes only. The place is very small with limited parking, so it's advisable to park nearby and walk over if you can't parallel park or have a large car. There's no wifi here, nor are there any other stores around the place that warrant a walk "around town" while you wait, so you're subject to staring at the delicious pastry display while your stomach growls louder. In all, the ambiance was SO French and cute with the small cafe packing a larger punch than I thought it would. What was absolutely surprising to me was that Santa Fe, NEW MEXICO for crying out loud...has French food! New Mexico is full of surprises, I tell ya. The good kind.
(5)carol B.
Overrated...especially since it is noisy and I'm Ossicle to find parking. IMPOSSIBLE. The food is ok but not A+
(3)Amy S.
The food was great but felt like the staff we reluctant to serve us. We went during peak time and we were asked to take any available tables. After we seated ourselves no one came to give us the menu or water. Several staff members were literally standing behind the cashier counter with a clear view of our table but yet they still did not approach is. We had to go up to the cashier to get our own menus. Would had given 2 stars if the food wasn't decently good.
(3)Dean C.
This is by far the best bakery restaurant I have eaten at since leaving Europe. The crepes are fantastic. The coffee is a delight and the service is great. There is not a lot of space for them to work in, so the fact they are so good at their jobs really shine through. Parking is very limited, but the food is worth the hunt.
(5)Steve T.
What a wonderful breakfast spot. The only negative thing I can say is that the parking is tight but the food is wonderful and fresh. Baked goods are made in house and the offerings in the bakery in front of the restaurant are mind boggling. Clafoutis will be a definite stop for me whenever I am in Santa Fe. Highly impressed.
(4)Lindsey R.
With my constant desire for French pastries and a yearning for fresh black coffee, I knew I had to give this place a shot. I ordered all of our items to go since our sweet pup was with us. We had the Croque Madam, the bacon egg and cheese croissant with green chilies, a berry danish, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Both were very good! I would have like to have seen more color on the toast for my Croque Madam and a touch of salt, but the favors were spot on otherwise. I do tend to like my salt. The bacon egg and cheese croissant with green chilies was excellent. The bacon was on the side and we thought it would be on the croissant, but that was an easy fix. The coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice were perfect and the French ladies that helped me were just lovely. They were extremely busy, but they were all still very friendly and happy to help. This place is a must for any foodie.
(5)Dan C.
As a local Santa Fean I was very pleased to finally experience breakfast at Clafoutis this morning. I'm sorry to say I was underwhelmed. I had the omelet provincial, my partner the croque madame. The croque madame was tasty and well executed. The omelet was flat, a crusty brown, tasted of burnt butter, and nary a tomato or herb discerned. Nothing light or fluffy or creamy about it. Perhaps it's because I've traveled to France extensively for business that I had high expectation, but this omelet was bad even by American Standards. Dennys does a better omelet. We also shared the Pear and Blueberry galette. The crust was rather doughy and tough and the pear was overwhelmed by the apricot glaze. The French roast coffee was good, the service friendly and efficient, and the room is nice. Parking is difficult. Go for a pastry and coffee but Chocolate Maven is a better choice for breakfast oeufs in Santa Fe.
(2)Kelsey C.
It's true that the food is amazing, it's the fact that breakfast takes three hours is what I have to deduct a star for. Now after standing through the wait we sat down and were served water immediately and asked for coffee which was brought back about ten minutes later then we ordered and two of our items were already made and in the case (beignets) and when the tables around us ordered theirs they got it immediately but we still had to wait for our food before we even saw the waiter again to ask for them again, he had completely forgotten. Then we had to wait at least thirty minutes before our tab was brought back to us. I mean the food's good but we walked in at eight thirty and left at eleven forty-five so unless you have your whole day to spend waiting around then I would probably go somewhere else. No amount of good crepes will be worth the three hours it took to get them, I won't be going back.
(4)Ankita J.
One must have their crèpes and croissants.. Amazing service with good food and I loved the breads. A crèpe was a good brunch.
(4)Jennifer Y.
The place is small and the tables are old and rustic but everything is clean (even the restrooms) and a lot of odd bits and ends are put up on the walls to make it more authentic and cute. The parking is very limited so I'd recommend parking somewhere nearby and walking or being prepared to wait for someone else to leave. The cafe latte was alright but it definitely needs honey or sugar to sweeten it up. The chai latte on the other hand is absolutely delicious. Service was very pleasant, and prompt. The fresh fruit French toast was soft and went down very easily. There's a large amount of fruit that comes with it so be ready to chow down. Provençal omelette was very savory and delicious. Usually I dislike tomatoes and olives but somehow this place makes it work! Fresh fruit crepe was sort of a disappointment. Delicious and soft to be sure but not as flavorful as some other places I've tried.
(5)Amanda S.
Saturday morning breakfast: we arrived around 8 or 8:15am and there was already a line forming. This restaurant is SMALL but oh my, can they hold so much and so many. This place is run so efficiently we only had to wait maybe 4 minutes. The baked goods were coming out fresh every few minutes, and everything looked beautiful. It really reminded me of the patiserries in Paris. The croque madame was good, the pastries and baked goods were even better! I tried a few small things, and I desperately wish I would have bought more... the macarons were so good, and the truffles-- oh my gosh. I would drive all the way back to Santa Fe (8 hours) for more of those. I will definitely be back on my next visit!
(4)Brooks T.
So good - there was a line but the wait truly was not too long and worth it. Being from TX, it was nice to see so many locals...I knew we were in the right spot. We had the eggs Benedict special, the peach crepes, waffles with powdered sugar and Nutella crepes....all was spot on. The pastries looked so good we got beignets to go. Very well priced for our four, it was about $40 with the meals, food, and to go goodies. Go here!!

I laugh at all the multiple exclamation marks people use for restaurants they love. I wish I could give Clafoutis 100 exclamation marks! My husband and I could not get enough of their divine food. It would be dangerous to live in the same state as this restaurant. I can't wait to return some day.
(5)Kathy D.
SERVICE:: Outstanding FOOD:: Delicious and filling, I had the Madame Croque, seared ham Swiss cheese sourdough bread béchamel sauce topped w/sunny side up egg. Red had the Caramelized peaches on crepe. We also had a baguette w/jams, coffe and a dbl espresso such fresh tasty desire able food. PRICES:: reasonable, considering Santa Fe is sooo exspensive. We also took home a few croissants for breakfast on the run, nice and fresh too! Atmosphere: quaint place, wafting yummy smells, greeting upon entrance, busy place, will return before we leave town!!!
(5)Kristina K.
Great European breakfast. Place is clean, always busy, so get there early. Cheaper than another business down the street (terrible..)

As a tourist of Santa Fe, I of course turned to Yelp to help point me in the right direction when it came to restaurants. Clafoutis does not disappoint. I walked to Clafoutis from my hotel, it is located about half a mile from the real touristy parts of Santa Fe, and the first thing I noticed was the parking. The lot in front of the restaurant is incredibly small. There were about 5 spaces total in front of the building. This wasn't really a concern of mine at the moment, since I was on foot, but I could imagine it is an issue for others. The restaurant was packed when I arrived, but I didn't have to wait long for a table. There was actually a high turnover of tables, due to both the quick service and the busboys clearing tables almost immediately after the meals are finished. The restaurant is family owned, you will first be greeted by one of the owners, a woman from France, and her daughter. I heard the husband works as the chef, but I didn't get the chance to meet him. An array of pastries and breads are available for immediate purchase to take home, including macarons. For the sit down meals, they offer a variety of sandwiches, quiches, and salads. I ordered the country le cagette. It was basically pate, lunch meats and cheeses, salad, bread and a dessert. Pate can be very tricky, but it was nicely made here. Everything tasted fresh. The meal was so big I had to take the dessert to go. It was so beautiful I almost didn't want to eat it (don't worry, I did). The whole meal was very affordable and quick. This is the perfect spot if you have a decent amount of time for lunch.

Delicious, delicious food. I lived in Brittany for a year, so I'm picky about my pastries/crepes. The croissants are excellent -- light and flaky and buttery, not bready -- and served with Bonne Maman jam for that touch of authenticity. The crepes are spot on, big and generous with the fillings. The bread is super crusty and airy. And of course, the sandwiches are prepared with just the right amount of filling. I recommend the prosciutto and brie. Every time I've been, there's been a thirty or so minute wait, but it's definitely worth it. The parking situation is a bit tight (a few spaces round the back and a few in front) so be aware. Also, the service is friendly, if not always the most efficient. But everything tastes so good, it's a minor gripe.

pros and cons Pros 1. Really Good Breakfast 2. Good Service 3. Their Baked Goods are really good 4. Affordable prices Cons 1. Parking is difficult I came here recently and really enjoyed it. Their ham breakfast sandwich was really good and flavorful. I also enjoyed their crepes and the service is very good

We arrived at 7am and were served with a smile right away. The beignet was a little more dense then I am used to. The eggs bene was excellent with the perfect zip of lemon. The egg sandwich with green chili was good with a slice of cheese melted on the top of the bread. By 7:30 there was a waiting list. The service was excellent.

We stopped here for breakfast on a road trip and we're extremely happy we made that decision. We got to the restaurant around 7:30am, which was a good because it had not yet gotten really busy. We decided to sample a crepe and an omlette and then get some pastries for the road. The Nutella crepe was good. A bit eggy and there was too much nutella...but really...is there such a thing as too much nutella?? The Provencal omlette was really good. The balance of veggies to egg was really good and the seasoning was perfect. To go we purchased a ficelle, pain au raisin, croissant, and some pastry with custard and plums inside. Two thumbs up!! Only complaints would be the noise level and how long it took to get our check. Wishing this place existed in Phoenix!

Super charming and super yummy breakfasts, pastries, drinks. Like the community feel of this place. Santa Fe wakes up here apparently. Major downside is the tiny and cramped parking lot - shitty drivers beware! !
(4)Tania x.
The food is excellent. I had the house special crepe with salmon. It was heavenly. The service was friendly and fast. This a busy place (rightfully so) so expect a line and be patient. It's worth the wait but if you just can't, get a few pastries and a coffee to go.

Clafoutis French Bakery.....heaven on a plate! There is literally nothing bad I can say about this place! The atmosphere quaint & charming, the food spectacular, the coffee will blow your mind, and the service excellent. We went two mornings in a row! Our favorites were the Provençal omelette and the caramelized peach crepe with anglaise creme sauce. Our servers were Cynthia and Tim. Both of them were genuinely friendly and attentive. I enjoyed listening to the wait staff speaking French to one another.

Great food, atmosphere. Was very busy so service could have been better, but that's to be expected given its popularity.

We stayed nearby and I walked over to Clafoutis our first morning. Well, I ended up going there every day, and we even made a pit stop on our way back to CO from Albuquerque. Clafoutis is that good. No, that's not fair. It's better. I was walking down the street at 7am and a local woman asked if my bag was from Clafoutis. They know. Parking is nonexistent, as many have said. Suck it up and walk off a few calories. You won't be sorry. Get there early, because the restaurant is small and gets overcrowded quickly. I just picked a few things by sight each day: raisin brioche, the actual clafoutis that the restaurant takes it name from, an almond croissant, berry tarts, veggie quiche. Each one was better than the last, and the coffee is good too. Save your money, and eat at Clafoutis every day. The staff is great too, welcoming you a cheery Bonjour and smiles all around. I'll be back as long as they're open. After this review, I feel like driving the 6 hours to Santa Fe. I wouldn't regret it for a minute.

(4)Carron S.

Go.
(5)Elle G.
the pastries are too beautiful to eat, but taste just as wonderful as they look! the service was great. shared a savory crepe with ham and cheese, croque monsier, a cherry clafoutis, and a croissant. all was fantastic!
(5)Lee W.
With wine
(5)Alexa S.
(5)Dina M.
(4)Sarah B.
(3)Scott S.
Heavenly.

This place was amazing. My husband and I got the ABC omelet and the Provencale omelet. Then shared the peach crepe. It was the best breakfast we've ever had. And the bread at the beginning is unreal. Crispy outside with a light airy inside. Delish.

The pastries are fresh and yummy. Fresh squeezed OJ - amazing! We had the special of the day which was eggs benedict on a brioche. Perfect. The service staff was very friendly and super fast. Loved it.

(5)Sarah O.

A true french bakery with pastries so fresh and flaky they literally melt in your mouth, We stopped in on our way to Colorado to get coffee and were blown away by the service and experience we received! A must do!
(5)Selen C.
Thank you Yelpers for pointing us in the right direction. Everything we tried in this wonderful place, each delectable pastry was delicious. My fave was the Almondine. Yummmm !!
(5)Rachel S.
(5)Roof L.
(2)Cassie D.
(4)Jillian P.
(5)Kristina H.

(4)Matt C.
(4)Crystal D.
(5)Alisson S.
(5)Leigh G.

(4)Lindsay N.

:))) Or I should get up earlier...;(
(4)Elisha W.
Absolute delisciousness! Best pastries ever! And only true French bread in NM
(5)Leland T.
(2)Ben S.
(5)N A.
(5)Lily D.
(5)Who W.
(4)Michael J.
(5)Rich R.
(4)Kay R.
This place shines Santa Fe! The service, breads, coffee, ... very good.
(5)Brian H.
Great little French cafe, prices reasonable and food and service is good. Great pastries and bread. The only drawback that I could find is the parking sucks but it's worth the hassle.
(4)Claire C.

Amazing savory foods, great breads, and fantastic desserts. We arrived about an hour before closing time though and although the service was fast, it seemed like we were interrupting the waitress. My only recommendation is to be a little more friendly.

Had breakfast 4 times in 4 weeks and all were wonderful. Took food home & also, very delicious. Very busy place so grab a cup of mocha coffee & enjoy.

One word for breakfast: yummy! We tried it once and ended up returning the next 3 days. Parking can be a hassle.

Au Revoir!

Great bread, great sweets, great coffee, amazing salads. This is a wonderful place for brunch and lunch, but the parking is impossible. Walk if you can.
