I am a high school teacher in Santa Fe. Upon entering Arroyo Vino, we were transported: time was slower, the laughter was greater, and flavors were piqued. We had the great fortune of indulging in the tasting menu. Arroyo Vino understands transitions. Each tasting complimented the former and latter, and yet each was surprising and luscious. I remain mesmerized by the textures and flavors experienced. I have eaten my way through Santa Fe, but the flavors, quality, experience, and service cannot be found anywhere else.

This is one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe. It's about a 15 minute drive from the Square and the service and food is excellent. A friend from Texas told us about it. We took a friend from Texas there a couple of weeks ago and we took another group of our friends from Texas last night. When I made our reservation, I told them it was our last weekend here, as we rented a house in Santa Fe for a month. They treated us so well and provided extras to make our dining experience even more enjoyable.

Came here last night for our first dinner in Santa Fe. It is literally in the middle of nowhere and we initially got lost, thanks to my iphone's map. Cute but non-descript place with a restaurant and wine shop attached. There is also outdoor dining, which we were assigned to. The menu is not large but full of seasonal and delightful items. I had the salmon with the summer harvest veggies. I did order medium-rare but it came out so uncooked that I couldn't pull the fish apart. They gladly re-heated after I made the request. A good meal considering there are not that many options for this type of place in Santa Fe; however, I wouldn't say it's comparable to big-city restaurants. Tip: make sure you get correct directions and not to rely on GPS. There was basically no service around this area, so if you have no back-up, you're basically SOL!

My husband and I spent 5 days in Santa Fe and enjoyed plenty of good food, but the best meal we had was at Arroyo Vino. It's quite a distance from the main part of town so you need to either drive (as we did) or take a taxi, but it's well worth a special trip. The room is modern and attractive and there's outdoor seating as well. We weren't thrilled with our table, especially since we'd booked far in advance, however there was no opportunity to improve our seating as it was very busy even on a Thursday night. The food made up for any dissatisfaction over the table, every bite was fresh and well prepared. There's a wine store attached where you can select a bottle if you wish, however the wine list is very good with a teeny selection of good quality half bottles and good wine by the glass at reasonable markup. Our server was knowledgeable and personable. Very highly recommended!

Yum! Yum! Yum! Have eaten here many times and it is always great! I think it is one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe.

Fine modernist and contemporary American food in a warm restaurant that also sells wine from its shop up front that you can have in your table. Add $20 - a little steep. The frisee of pear and sunchoke salad on hazelnut topped with a friend say of pepper corn and white balsamic vinegar is the most astonishing dish. We've been back a second time to find an equally delightful frisee. Great duck, escargot stroganoff, grilled lamb and beef. My favorite waitress is Erin who is lively and intelligent like most of the staff.

A mind blowing find in the remote but neighborhoody area near Santa Fe. It excels in sophisticated food, experienced service, fabulous wine menu and adjacent wine shop. Could be a hard reservation to get in LA or San Francisco, yet it is surrounded by the gorgeous high desert of Santa Fe, NM.

Went on Valentines Day. Food, service were OK. Very small portions. We waited one and a half hours for our 8:00 PM reservations. The owner informed us he could not ask people to get up and leave. They had overbooked. I asked to see the menu while we waited at the bar. I then asked about the 5 oz ribeye steak. I commented I had never seen one that small. He said,"we're not a steak house"! I'm not sure I have ever been treated so poorly in a restaurant ..and I've been to hundreds all over the world. If the owner reflects the personality of his business...DON'T GO THERE!

IF you have one night in Santa Fe - this is the place to go. Arroyo Vino is in the class of finest restaurants that I've ever eatin at, including NY restaurants and the French Laundry. We had the Heirloom tomato salad, oysters, spring rolls, steak and stripe bass. The service from Whitney was equal to the food served - he was great!

Hands down best restaurant in town and one of the best in the country. Brilliant inventive food--yes, an occasional stumble since the kitchen is not God--but worth every visit. Personally I find the adjacent wine shop a distraction and hopefully as the restaurant becomes better known they will ditch that concept and put more tables in there for the diners. Finding this place was one of the best things that happened to me since I moved here from NYC last year. My only real criticism is that the restaurant could improve the dining atmosphere to be more sensual rather than its current pared down bistro style. Then you'd have a feast for the senses!

The highlight of our recent trip to Santa Fe! Outstanding food, wine and service. We love small plates as it affords the opportunity to experience more of the menu. Each dish was a pleasure -- from the truffle pasta to the salads to wagyu bolognese, cheese and dessert. We may have to return to Santa Fe just to eat here!

Under chef, Mark Connel, Arroyo vino is an a league of it's own in Santa Fe. The food is big-city quality haute cuisine. The restaurant share a fine wine store as it's inventory and is arguable the best in the state. The place is a foodie's destination. Nothing comes close in Santa Fe. The only area needing improvement is ambiance.

I have to agree with Maggie L. The food was tasty, but portions were a "taste for one person" not a share with three other people at the table. The waiter asked us if we minded him bringing one plate at a time; however, we were three-fourths through our dinner. I was was the first to receive a dish of soup and was confused as to how I was supposed to share it. It was less than a 1/4 cup and I had to ask for a spoon. We were able to split the second dish that consisted of a tablespoon of mushrooms. I calculated the $10 soup to come to about $40 for a full serving. If I had know our waiter was going to serve one plate at a time, I wouldn't have let my soup sit and get cold. The gentlemen helping us select wine was friendly and informative and the wine selection was outstanding, but if you order off the menu you are charged an additional $20 even though the menu wine comes from the same room. The restaurant determines what wines are on the menu. It was very confusing. I'm not opposed to small plates, but the hostess and waiter assured us that each plate was enough to share. For the portion size and price Arroyo Vino was very pricey.

My wife and I both think that, for our money, Arroyo Vino is the best high end restaurant in or around Santa Fe. The food is creative, delicious, and beautifully presented without being pretentious or fussy. The space is both warm and elegant, conducive to sharing a range of different sorts of plates and a nice bottle of wine. We especially like the ability to pick up a bottle in the reasonably priced store and bring it to the table for a corkage fee. We absolutely agree with some of the folks on this site who note that Arroyo Vino's menu is the equal of top high end big city restaurants. As a sidebar, our friends from Manhattan felt the same way.5 stars indeed!

AV had a Rose wine tasting today. Cost $25. Reasonable. 83 wines. All sounds good but a few issues made it less enjoyable. First, the tastings were very disorganized in that each table (6 tables) just had a glob of various wines in no discernible order. 2. Tables were numbered in the program but they were not identified by signs in the tent. If you were looking for a certain wine at a certain table, good luck. The paper program was just a list of the names of the wine and a bottle price with no explanation where the wine was from (region) or anything about the wine. Too many people and too noisy to get much of an explanation from the server. If all you wanted to do was taste dozens of wine without regard to learning anything the obscure wines on display, this was an enjoyable event. Also, food was sparse and not memorable for quality at all. Do not recommend.

So I previously wrote about the wonderful wine tastings at AV and now that their restaurant has opened, I have returned to try their dinner. AV serves tapas for now T-Sat from 5-8:30, but will expand as the weather heats up to include lunch, an outside patio, and even a bocce ball court. But for now, they serve absolutely phenomenal tapas....I am semi-retired now here in Santa Fe but had my taste buds groomed in the San Francisco Bay Area and I can't say I habitually eat at haunts like the Bay Wolf, Chez Panisse, French Laundry, Zuni, Ad Hoc, Kokkari, I have definitely had more than my share and my wife and I cook from these restaurant cookbooks almost daily. Suffice to say, we are serious foodies. ....And AV belongs in the conversation with the best of the best. Where to start? There were three of us. A bottle of great Treana Marsanne-Viognier blend and four glasses of wine plus about 7-8 dishes for three of us: $150 before tip. For the math challenged that is $50/person for wine and dinner. And what a dinner. Started with a salad of sunchoke, pear and hazelnut.... very good, but truthfully, it paled with what followed: Chicken Liver Cristini with Mushroom Ragu was amazing with the ragu melting in your mouth.... Crispy polenta with blue cheese fonduta also incredible. They certainly know how to toast or crisp a polenta or a potato and retain and moist creamy interior, to wit, the Truffled Potato Cake with a caramelized onion puree had such a gorgeous and yummy crust with the insides a heavenly creamy texture... a nice contrast and wonderfully flavored.....Then Cacio e Pepe is a pasta dish with an airy foam as the 'sauce' tasting of parsley, olive oil and a cheese that smacked of a great pecorino.... so light....But the piece de resistance was the ravioli with braised short ribs. For this I ordered a great Gigondas and they matched perfectly. I know we ordered something else wonderful from the specials list, but alas, only the faint memory of it being delicious remains. So often we go out and say to ourselves: that was good, but you know, we could replicate that at home.... But at AV, after every single course all three of us were just speechless and I kept repeating: how did they do that? I don't write many reviews...this being about my fifth I think, ever. But when young talented folks stick their necks out on a dream and hit a frigging grand slam, they deserve kudos. Wonderful food....and I can't wait to park my butt on their deck one Saturday afternoon, with a great book, some wine and appetizers, and maybe some bocce ball. Go! You won't regret it.

guess i'm going to be the lone dissatisfied customer so far. yes, the food was tasty, but $16 for a one square inch (okay maybe an inch and a half) of fish....i think not. the $14 crispy pig slider was a better value tho still small. all in all, this is a 'small plate' dining place. not a lot of food for what i think is a lot of money. was really hoping for a more reasonably priced tapas place. not sure we'll be back
