Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

If you don't call ahead you'll experience MSS (Mega Slow Service) as a walk in. Weird hours. Great burritos. Just wish the service was not so s-l-o-w. Been here twice now; both times for to go orders. In and out took 30 minutes.

Decent little spot. The salsa was good. I ordered. #1 Beef Taco combo. The flavor of the beef could use a bit more spices. The rice and beans were really good. If I do decide to eat here again, I will be trying something else off if the menu!

I love the specialty tacos. Love, love, love them. The guacamole is amazing although I always need to add more salt to it. The service though is usually mediocre to poor. My boyfriend hates the service. I like the tacos enough to put up with it. I go every time I'm in town and I think these are the best tacos in the area. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

I would give Ole Taco 6 stars if I could. The place is clean, the food is the best Mexican I've had in a very long time. The food has something that most food in NM doesn't have...Flavor! Not just heat from peppers but real flavor. But, the service was excellent. We made it to Ruidosa around midnight. We had no place to stay, it was COLD and we were on the motorcycle. We found a room at the Motel 6 (see other review) and the night clerk suggested Ole Taco might still be open. We arrived at Ole Taco and they were obviously closing. So here we show up, two bikers, all hooded up and the nice lady greeted us, sat us and they proceeded to COOK our order! Never once did we feel rushed. It's this type of service that you only get with a local owned family business.

Great good but horrible service. I would only eat here if it's a call in order. Not worth the wait.

Go ahead if you want to be brave! BUS STOP ambience and Cherry ain't showing up! Fine chips and salsa, homemade beans are quite good, CHEESE tastes great! Tacos are pedestrian Probably want to skip the W.C. at the restaurant, you'll be there soon enough on your own!!

We were brought here by some Ruidoso locals as we were looking for good homemade Mexican food. The place is a cute small family owned joint. It was packed and the service was great. We really enjoyed our meal - chips, salsa and guac were fab, their sauces are delish. We were pleased with the experience.

The taco's were decent but the rice was salty, guacamole lacked spice and nachos were less than inspiring. The place was recommended by the cabin patron where we stayed but we would not return to eat here.

the ole tacos is not the best food out there it has OK food it is a family owned business

Ole Taco is a wonderful little place. Family owned and the food is always good. You've got a whole variety of culinary options here, most from the Tex/Mex arena. You really can't go wrong with anything, honestly. Also, the salsa and chips to munch on while you wait are muy bueno. The space is small and you will be possibly bumping elbows with the table next to you. Deal with it. They are pretty clean here, despite the awkward configuration of the dining area. Reasonable prices and you'll want to come back for more.

Ole Taco is truly a "hole in the wall," but if you want authentic mexican food, this is as good as it gets. I can't say much for the atmosphere, but the food is remarkable. Be sure to bring cash, though. No plastic accepted here.
