Best place to eat in Southern NM. The food is great, included salad bar is awesome and has plenty of options. We love the bread, and on top of it the prices are very reasonable.

Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! Never ever disappointed when we come here. Great service and a wonderful salad bar!!! The food is always great!

We stopped by here on a road trip through Roswell last summer. Doing a search in the area beforehand, it seemed that it was either Cattle Baron or Peppers for a good steak. We decided on this place. It was a nice atmosphere for a steakhouse. The service for our party of 2 was timely and friendly. We ordered a ribeye (~$20-25) and the salad bar. The salad bar was huge. The medium-rare ribeye was great, but could've had some more seasoning on it -- it seemed rather bland.

I am in Roswell once a month on business (lucky me), and have dined a number of occasions at the Cattle Baron. To sum it up: it's okay. Perhaps the best dining in Roswell, but nothing great. The steaks are decent, the huge salad bar is nice, and overall the prices are in line with the food and atmosphere. I will probably return, but I am also searching for alternative dining. I'll let you know if I discover any place better.

We were passing thru Roswell and stopped for dinner. We both ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly. However, my sweet potato was rotten and I asked to have it replaced with vegetables. We waited and waited - they arrived as we were finishing our meal so I asked for a to go box. On our way out the manager was asking about our meal. I explained the situation and he said never mind the bad potato, who was the waitress? He said it was her job to tell mgmt. No apology offered. Won't go back again.

This is the best place ever!!!! A huge salad bar with perfectly ripe fresh fruit and amazing veggie choices. The other salads were just yummy. So many choices!!! Our waiter was Todd and he was delightful, he kept our glasses full and hot fresh bread always on our table. We had the chicken strips and they were delicious, not the prepackage pressed chicken, it was whole chick breast meat. This is definitely the place to eat in Roswell

I came to Roswell for a family reunion (haha don't ask) and was pleased with my experience at the Cattle Baron. The dinners were all well prepared and when they completely screwed up my nephew's dinner the manager came out to speak with him and apologize - I thought that was a really nice touch considering my nephew is young. The salad bar has a lot to choose from as well. The servers got in an argument in front of our entire table over who got to serve us...which was pretty bad from a professional stand point, but the service was fine overall.

Food was good quality but flavorless. I ate here twice while in town and was not impressed either time. Service was great during lunch but a couple days later during dinner it was terrible. It may be the only steak house in town (besides K-Bobs) and maybe that's why it stays kinda busy. Doesn't beat Black Angus, Outback, or any other chain steakhouse I've had.

Leaving Las Vegas and Houston bound left us thinking we should choose a route with some fun stuff to see along the way. As we drove across country to relocate to our new home, we naturally wanted to take advantage of the sights and local grub. The hubby thought going through Roswell would be a fun stop since we were driving through New Mexico. Phew! Roswell is bigger than I thought! Driving through "Main" Street you'll be pleased to see some well-known chain restaurants but don't stop there. You'll be tired of road food and why go eat frozen chain food when you can have a yummy juicy steak and sides with all the fixins and sans aliens. Please get the Prime Rib and sweet baked potato! A wonderful salad bar is included where you'll find Green Chili Corn Chowdah! The Margaritas are to die for so order one! Service was friendly and prompt. A kids menu is offered too so it's family friendly. I have to say for an itty bitty town this restaurant offers big flavors for a big appetite. Decor is an upscale western theme with a giant buffalo head mounted above the entrance to greet you so take some pictures. Overall a great stop with friendly service in the middle of UFO town!

Salad bar is the size of a small swimming pool, in a good way. My ribeye was rare on one end and medium-well on the other, my partner had to send their filet back three times. His dinner was comped, but you know how that is... The front end staff was friendly.

The steak was great. Loved the green chili wantons. And the green chili stew was great also.

This place has so much potential it nearly makes you sick while dredging through the meal they place in front of you. Much like some of the other places in this town, Cattle Baron is always packed with customers. It almost seems as though the citizens of this town have zero taste buds and only claim this to be the best steak in town because it has the nicest decor in town. Without the salad bar, this place would go under... fast!

    (3)
  • Rick C.

Good salad bar. I had a Prime Rib and it was pretty weak. Overcooked with little flavor. My coworker described his New Mexico steak as so-so. Staff was great - friendly and fast.

HOLY SALAD BAR!!! The salad bar at this place is amazing. It only cost roughly $4 to add to any meal which is insane. The entrees are exceptional for the price. I have had everything from the stuff shrimp to the steaks to the burgers, and I have never been disappointed. I make about 3 trips to the salad bar before my meal arrives and still manage to finish my meal. I must say that I do go into a food coma about 1 hour later. BEWARE!!!

  • Kissa G.

The staff was friendly and efficient, the only reason for the 2 stars. We ordered the chile won tons and they were delicious. The Oscar chicken was not edible and had a strange taste, I was only able to stomach 1 bite. The rib eye steak was cooked properly but lacked flavor. We filled up on the salad bar and bread. We saw the other good reviews and thought this would be a great place to try, we were sadly disappointed.

We have eaten there for both lunch and dinner. The salad bar is excellent with lots of variety and unique salad dressings to choose from. The salad bar also includes 2 soup of the day choices. I had the chicken enchilada soup which was delicious. For appetizers, I tried the green chile won tons and the jalapeno bacon stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was excellent but the won tons were a little bland for our taste. For dinner, I had the 8 oz bacon wrapped filet. I didn't bother eating the bacon, it was limp and didn't look appetizing. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was so tender. Next time we come, we will try to hit up Happy Hour and dine at the bar. They have great Happy Hour specials including $2.50 for their house wines. This is one of our favorite Roswell dining establishments. They have great service and can accommodate a big group with ease.

Great atmosphere, service & food! I ordered the Chicken Florentine which was quite delish yet the salad bar was the best! Next time the simple soup & salad will be my pick!

  • Natán Q.

The service was great and the steak was cooked to my exact instructions. Not many places can get that right. The steak was also good. The location was clean and quite.

I never get the salad bar when I go out but my coworker talked me into here. I ordered a side of fries too, which was a bad mistake because that salad was good. The salad is extremely fresh and they have pasta salads and other salady dishes here. My plate was stacked every time I came thru here. They also have soups. Tonight was seafood bisque, which you first question because Roswell is landlocked. But a chain like this is going to ship in fresh ingredients all the time. I had maybe 3 bowls. I would have had more if I didn't eat those french fries.

Had an excellent experience this weekend! Place was very busy but didn't have to wait long for our food. All the food was cooked to perfection. Waitess was very kind and pleasant. Would go there again if I was in town.

  • Shane H.

Stopped by on the way back home for dinner, and there wasn't much of wait when I came in, beverages were served quickly same as refills, I ordered their rib eye medium, it came out medium rare not a big deal, because it was still good, and their fries were great as well, and the salad bar came with the steak dinner as well so that was bonus, and they also serve home made bread which was good, and the service was quite well, if I came through again and was hungry for dinner I'd definitely would stop by again.

  • Charles W.

Piss poor service!!! Had our salad, appetizer, and meal thrown at us within moments of each other. My wife and I had a 12oz and 16oz prime rib dinner way over cooked, and extremely tough. Sent back spent $50 bucks on one kids meal and salad bar, left ready for dinner. I would not recommend stopping here.

Nothing to write home about. In town for business and we were referred here. I had the Ol Smoky burger. It was pretty good. Although the portion of fried included was scanty at best and looked poorly. Our server seemed a little out of it and Would check on us irregularly and never be around when we needed her. The salad bar according to my coworkers was pretty good and had lots of choices. The ones of my group who ordered steak weren't raving though about their dishes. Prime Rib was too done and the Ribeye was medium well when it should have been medium rare. The water tasted like ....well, I don't know exactly how it tasted....I guess I could compare it to...dish water, I mean, if I knew what dish water tasted like. My bill at the end was a little over $10, which was reasonable enough. However, looking at the things everyone else ordered and what they had to pay....they definitely didn't get their money's worth.

  • Lawrence G.

Great service, just ok steaks. I should of known when they has the certified angus stamp on their menu. That deal means frozen pre-prepared meat. Ordered a filet med rare and it came out properly, but tasted uninspiring. Well it did inspire me to write my first review. Back to the steak, a good steak doesn't need anything add to it, this one did. It was tasteless and bland. This was a outback price with a slightly better k bob or western steer quality.

Great meat! Great baked potato! Fresh salad with great variety ! Super friendly! We love it!

    (5)
  • Bill T.

Great salad bar and steaks! Wife and I both had rib eye steaks cooked differently. We were both pleased with the steaks. I wish I had ordered a smaller steak because the extensive salad bar and soup had so much to offer.

    (4)
  • Monica F.

Really great salad bar. It came with soup as well. I shouldn't have ordered a meal and just stuck to the salad bar. It was that delicious. I got the steak and a baked potato. It was everything I wanted it to be. The server was fantastic. He was quick and brought we never sat with an empty glass.

Sat in a booth in the bar area. Service was ok. Waiter was busy and didn't really give it his all. Salad bar was good and the steak was good but not great. Ill go to K-Bobs next time.

The food definitely ranges from good to okay. My favorite meal there is the Chicken Fried Steak. They do have a lunch menu from Monday thru Saturday that differs from their dinner menu. My favorite lunch menu item has to be the Crispy Chicken Salad. They have a salad bar that's hit and miss.

I came here with hubby because other places were all closed for dinner. I didn't want to come here because of less than desired rating on Yelp... But I'm glad I didn't eat at other restaurants!! First of all, ambience is so awesome, I could clearly tell by looking at everything that the owner of this restaurant hired a brilliant interior designer. Inside the restaurant was just so pleasing to look at, I was very impressed. We didn't know where we wanted to sit, and the waitress took us to the booth and the seat was very comfortable. Secondly, the waitress was so polite and friendly, not to mention cute!! We were the last customer there actually, but she didn't rush us and she even told us about Roswell and gave us some suggestions as to what route to take to our next destination so that we could enjoy a nice scenery. :) Lastly...the food!! Oh my god, the lobster and orange salmon...they were both soooo delicious!!! We didn't want steak because we already had enough steaks in TX lol. Oh almost forgot to mention, the salad was so delicious too!! Many option to choose from! Everything was still so fresh even tho it was close to last call. Spinach and romaine lettuce were very fresh, I was pretty impressed with the macaroni salad and honey mustard dressing too. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only thing that bothered me was that the straw was hard to take out of the plastic package it was in lol.

This place is ok. The decor is a bit out dated for my taste and the food was average. I felt like the food was overly salted and the salad was not fresh. The service was pretty good though.

Best salad bar ever!!!! It even had pudding with vanilla wafers. A complete dinner and desert for under $10. Can't beat it.

Had dinner a week or so ago. Was not sure with some reviews but had a great meal-rib eye. Nice steak and cooked properly Salad bar was as good as recommended. Everything was good except the timing of the waiter. I had told him I wanted to enjoy the salad bar and to not put my steak order in for a while. Had just started salad and here came the meal. Had to have them take it back and hold it. I saw this happen to several others dining. May be plan to turn over tables quicker. Turned a dining experience into "just eat and go." Nice decor, help did a good job other than pushing meals, clean and very fair price for meal.

Good parking available, but we also went around 5pm before the dinner rush came through. Flies were all over the parking lot and restaurant structures. My husband had the house steak and was not too pleased with it. Smelled like bad meat. Nothing special about the place. Baked potatoes seems overcooked and tasted like they've been sitting for a while. The salar bar came with our meals. Salad bar was pretty good... Typical salad bar. I initially ordered the swordfish, but they ran out. I ordered the fettuccine with chicken. It was ok... nothing to rave about. It was a typical fettuccine chicken that I feel I have had many times before. Nothing special. Service was pretty good. He brought us everything we asked for in a timely manner. The price was reasonable for what we got. The steak for $20, but it also came with a baked potato and salad bar.

Awesome salad bar, good prime rib, credible sides, earnest service. We would come back if we found ourselves in the area.

  • Sandy N.

If you order an entree, you get all you can eat salad bar. This really fills you up, so don't go too crazy. I ordered the rib eye...it was okay...there was a huge chunk of fat in the middle didn't like that. The waiter we had was not overly friendly nor rude. He was just there to get his job done, no bull shittin, just get straight to the point. lol

I came here on the 4th of July in the evening to grab some food at the salad bar. The restaurant was beautifully illuminated with lights on the inside and outside. Staff was was very professional and had etiquette on the same level as a fine dining restaurant.. The salad bar is extremely clean and well kept. It's not messy, and servers and cooks are constantly reloading more food as needed. For $9.59 (after tax) they give you a square styrofoam to-go box, a cup for soup, and a small plastic container for salad dressing. You can comfortably fit a ton of salad, salad toppings, a side pasta salad, and fruit. The salad bar items are similar to other Cattle Baron restaurants and provide spinach salad, a romaine and iceberg lettuce wth veggies salad mix, Italian/bleu cheese/ranch/jalapeño ranch etc dressings, pasta salads, olives, cheese, cottage cheese, banana pudding, banana bread, pineapple, strawberries, chicken tortilla soup, vegetable soup and much more!

Finding a seafood restaurant with "veggie only" options in a cattle town can be challenging. Since we are pescatarians that's what we were looking for. At Cattle Baron we struck gold! The salad bar was amazing which included two soup options, and all you can eat for only $7.99. I wanted a baked potato (both white and sweet we're absolutely wonderful) and sautéed asparagus. Our incredible server Shannon Finney, even offered to check with the cook to see if they could sautée a side of spinach. It wasn't on the menu, but they catered to my request with perfection. Atmosphere in the lounge was upscale, western rustic....just lovely and Shannon's service was outstanding. My wife and I highly recommend Cattle Baron in Roswell as they exceeded our expectations in all areas. We will be back!

Food is definitely better in the El Paso Cattle Baron. The salad bar is fresh and the service was good.

Visited the Roswell Cattle Baron restaurant on a Saturday night over Labor Day weekend with my wife. We shared a sirloin steak cooked medium, baked potato and a trip to the salad bar. Our waiter, Terry, was funny yet left us alone to enjoy the perfectly cooked steak and potato. The salad was fresh and had dozens of selections to choose from. The carrot cake was smooth and flavorful without being too sweet. Overall, a great experience!

If you love the food quality of Golden Corral, but are dying to pay double the price, this is the place for you. When you read other reviewers saying the food id "Ok" or "average" , this is what they mean. I got the 10 oz ribeye which turned out to be one of the worst steaks I've ever had. I asked for it medium rare, but is was well done in the center and rare on the outside. How the heck does that happen? The taste? Well it was just a warm piece of bland meat. None of my family of five had an enjoyable meal. My oldest son had some fried shrimp that seemed like it came out of freezer bag pre-battered. Yes I I know they have to come frozen in New Mexico, but how hard is it to make your own batter and let the moment of preparation be the first time it gets cooked? I want a restaurant that cares about food enough to not just think their job is to heat up food.

  • Fn A.

Salad bar was decent lots of mayonnaise salads but enough fresh veggies to make a nice salad. The steaks (rib eye) tasted like select meat, but were cooked correctly, the baked potato was above average, bread was good.Service was very good, attentive and professional. We have had little luck in general with the food in Southeast NM.

The quality and cleanness is going down. I found dirty vegetables in the salad bar with small flys and gelatin with Roche legs, we pay and left this restaurant,

Service in Roswell isn't something that is very good in this town, but this place is the exception! Delicious food with fast and friendly service. My favorite part is the salad bar. It can be made into a meal in and of itself! Lots of fresh greens and dressings with a bunch of other things as well. Perfect for vegetarians or as an add on to your meal. Eat here and you won't be disappointed!

Visited this place with friends when we were passing thru. It was busy and a tad noisy but thas to be expected. Overall it was pretty clean and the decor was all wagon wheels and cowhide. My husband and our two friends ordered steaks. Overall they were very happy with them. They also ordered lemon garlic asparagus and none of them could eat it because of how strong the lemon flavor was. I ordered the orange bourbon glazed salmon. It came with rice which wasn't that great but the salmon itself was very tasty and it was a good sized portion. I was impressed with the burger my 4yr old got. He just ordered a kids cheeseburger and it turned out to be a big regular size burger that even I probably wouldn't be able to finish. Our waitress seemed a bit frazzled because of how busy it was was she was pretty good on checking on us. I think our bill for my husband, my son and I came to around $80 without tip.

As a child of the 80s and 90s, I remember when salad bars were everywhere. I took them for granted. Ah, those were the days. These days, it is very difficult to find a REAL, stocked up salad bar. The kind where there are a ridiculous amount of toppings, prepared salads, and even desserts. Well friends, Cattle Baron has all this and more. My husband and I stopped here TWICE (on the way to and from Ruidoso, NM) to partake in the divine abundance that is their salad bar. It is a bargain at $7.95 per person AND includes soup. The ambiance at this place was nice, but not stuffy. The staff was very kind to my 15 month old daughter as well. All of the toppings were fresh, and there were different prepared salads each time we went. My favorite was the ambrosia---with fruit, marshmallows and coconut. This place made a very small part of me wished I lived nearer, so I could sample all of the salads.

Went to Roswell NM for a business trip. Decided to give this place a try for the following reasons. -It wasn't Denny's or Taco Bell -It has seafood -It was near my hotel The food here is ok. Maybe great for the area?? I don't know. Great salad bar (4 star salad bar) if you are a veggie. The service is SLOW. I had the bourbon salmon. It was ok. Not great but not bad.

Who knew that a tiny burg like Roswell would have food this good? Went here with DH and two friends. We waited about three minutes for a table on a fairly busy night. Our waiter and waitress were both friendly, attentive, and very helpful, even though our dining companions changed their order three times (!). The waitress rolled with it, even dividing up a couple of things for our friends' convenience. Our food was excellent. My prime rib was PERFECT--that's the only word for it. The Caesar salad was crisp and had a definitely freshly-made dressing. Throughout the night, we never had to hunt down our waitress, even though we didn't actually SEE her. She must have been watching from an "undisclosed location", because she seemed to know exactly when we needed her, and :::poof::: there she was, tableside. I would return here in a heartbeat.

Just had a great dinner here. There were 7 of us, 2 kids. Dinner came to 107$. Pretty amazing since that was a kids 6oz new york, an adults size new York, 2 chicken fried steaks, a burger, a chicken Caesar salad and soft drinks (plus a margarita). Salad bar was good, had strawberries and whipped cream, and we were brought hot bread. Staff was excellent. A diamond in Roswell.

We just went up to the bar and order our food there, because of the wait. The bartender was pretty good. We order the Cajun popcorn shrimp there wasn't any thing cajun are the shrimp witch sucks but the shrimp tasted really good. The place seemed really prices so we ended up getting a couple burgers, I got the ol smokey bbq, there wasn't much flavor to the buger and the bbq sauce was non eventful for my taste buds, and then mash potatoes had no gravy or butter on them.

Great salad bar with many items.....almost unheard of these days when bag-o-salads are the trend. The prime rib was excellent and fixin's were also great!! This place is a must when visiting Roswell. The service was great too, even if our server did have a large party....we would have never known it!!!

C'mon now. Why not? There is nothing better around here, so yes, it is "As good as it gets!" in Roswell, NM. I can almost see that the locals come here for wedding proposals, birthdays and special events. It's a bit pricey for the area, that's why. Now, take this same restaurant to Dallas, it will only qualify as a 3 stars for overall rating and 4 stars for the Rib Eye steaks done really well. Aha, 5 stars for the service. Our waitress was determined to make that car payment, I tell you. She hounded us on every turn for "Are y'all good?" I almost wanted to order a locally bottled wine, which NM makes. But, she had no idea at all about wines. I figured, if it sucked, I would only have to blame myself. Alas, a double negative of her not knowing anything about the local wines and me wanting to be surprised, no happening. So, if you are reading this and wondering if it's worth a try to go because I said so, remember this. I've got a low tolerance for bad service and bad food. When traveling, you have to roll the dice. We did. And, we won. If you know about the history of cattle wranglers back in the mid 20th century, this makes it even more appropriate.

My dad and I came to Roswell so I could take the entrance exams for military school. Being the man my father is, we opted for a meal at the *best* restaurant in such a small, small town. Cattle Baron's is definitely up there (out of about 3 of them). Everytime I came here, I always had a pleasent experience. I mean, you take that first outing, and then me going to Roswell again for actual school, then four subsequent years of hating military school chow and some special events; and you have someone who has spent quite a lot of money at the better establishments. Their salad bar is so big, so full of random crap that it's a vegetarian's DREAM! Good thing I love meat, or else that would be the only thing going for them from me. The meat isn't the best, however (which is strange...its a STEAKHOUSE), but it's the best in comparison to your other choices. The desserts...eh. For my 16th birthday, my dad took me here and had them take a cornflake crusted and deep fried scoop of ice cream and put the necklace he promised me since I was four around such a strange dessert conncotion. I didn't pay much attention to my dessert...but how WEIRD?!? Come on now. Cornflake encrusted scoop of ice cream? Ew. But overall I give the place 4 stars. I don't remember much because there was a lot of therapy my last year there.... WOOOO! Therapy!

I was not estatic about this place. We walked in and was ignored by the two peole talking at the register. The girl that sat us acted like we were bothering her and she didn't smile or welcome us. I was suprised I got a follow me. Not even a please follow me at that. The waitress was not very friendly either. The salad bar was ok. Some things look like they needed to be refreshed but it was tolerable. I had a petit steak and it was a little over cooked. We had to keep asking for things except the bill. We were not offered dessert either. :( The food was overpriced for average food.

Ok number one job in a steak house - Learn how to cook a steak !!!!!! Medium rare is not well done. Who wants to eat leather? Sadly their cooks need to learn the basics and not waste a wonderful piece of ribeye. The salad bar was ok aside from the fact that on my trip a fly decided to keel over on the wedge of cheese... So the solution someone just covered it up. I say skip it unless they get better line cooks.

After having a couple beers at Farley's, we popped into the Cattle Baron for a red meat dinner. Hostess was less than chipper and sat us in an empty room right next to the kitchen and the cold salad bar. No big deal, we asked if we could join a nearby room with other guests and found a cozy 2 top. Our server was friendly and brought us a couple more beers. I had the rib eye and J opted for a cheeseburger with mushrooms with the salad bar add on. I couldn't help but add the Louisiana style lump crab to the top of my rib eye. Salad bar was good, it had more than iceburg lettuce which was exciting. Both soups were tasty and we finished up right as our food was being delivered. Cheeseburger: incredibly good. Rib eye: Missing the crab. No worries, she'll be right back with it. Dilemma: Do I start eating the steak while it's sizzling and have nothing left by the time the crab comes, or wait for the crab and pair it with a cold steak? The answer was a combination. I waited as long as I could resist, until I could bear it no longer. It was worth it though. By the time the crab came I had a small and chilly portion of meat left. The crab was terrible, I learned my lesson. Unless you are near a body of water where'st crab are caught, don't order crab. We skated out just in before closing time, and not a minute too soon. They were already prepping for the close while we were still eating. Maybe it's nitpicky, but I don't really want to see the giant tubs of salt and pepper out refilling the shakers on the table next to me. I much prefer to imagine my condiments are freshly opened and uncompromised.

I was content to have found this place in the middle of nowhere. The menu was as good as one could expect in a rural area (steaks and seafood) and the prices are excellent. The decor is pleasant. Service was very good and friendly. Two negatives...my filet was undercooked (came out more rare than medium rare) and the TVs in the bar could use an upgrade (late 90's models I'm certain) I plan on returning.

It was great, unbelievable buy on the salad bar too. Salad bar had an unusually large variety and was a meal by itself. Also had a great selection of entrees.

Rockin' salad bar for this non-meat eater! We sat in the slightly more ambient lounge where four mounted steers' (bulls? cows? what?) heads stared down upon us. Guy, our bartender, didn't flinch when I inquired delicately about a chocolate martini. I didn't want to sound too *city* or bitchy or bratty ordering such a potable, but my inquiry was met with not a flinch at all! I had the $7.50 soup and salad bar, which I highly recommend. At the salad bar you can also scoop up little bits of puddin' and other scoop-able desserts. I guess this place is a chain, but I liked it. My date had scampi and his entree came with salad bar, so it's a great deal.

We were visiting a nearby town with not quite as much to offer in the way of "nicer" restaurants. We picked this restaurant based on reviews and for the most part, it will do. I just didn't think it was all that. The best part about the restaurant was the attentive service and the ambience. The steak was okay ... not the best in the world, and I know my husband can do better; and if he had access to a grill and a reputable butcher probably would have tried. The salad bar was adequate. Don't get me wrong. It's huge, but it's not the most diverse salad bar in the world. What did turn me off about the salad bar was the fake lettuce leaves crammed between the bins of various vegetables and salad dressings. The other problem was I was eating amongst cowboys and they aren't exactly the neatest at the chow trough. There were jalapenos in the creamy italian dressing ... I guess it just "fell in there". The brownie dessert is definitely big enough for about 4 people to enjoy a decent bite. The Kentucky pie was a little "tough" -- I expected more gooey. I also thought the price was a little high for what you got. But just my 2 cents. Three steaks, one kid meal, four drinks, one beer ... tax tip ... $100 @ dinner time.

We were referred to the Cattle Baron by a local and were so looking forward to a nice dinner after having worked long hard hours over the course of the weekend. Sadly, our experience was not what we had expected. When we arrived, we were escorted past the salad bar, which looked fresh and bright. That was probably the highlight of our short time here. We arrived at our table to find it quite sticky. When we spoke to our server (who was actually quite kind and obviously embarrassed to be addressing this issue AGAIN), he said that he would gladly wash the table for us but that it would just become sticky again as there was a problem with the varnish...and that's exactly what happened. We looked around and could tell that every table had a similar cloudy, sticky film on top. We were willing to overlook the issue, but when our sodas arrived tasting nothing like a commercial soda (I think it might have had something to do with the awful water in Roswell) and we looked at the menu, we decided that there was nothing on the menu that could make up for the feeling of grossness that we were experiencing so we left. I felt bad for our server, but there was no way we were going to spend $20 per plate after witness such apathy on the part of the business owners (please revarnish your tables). We would not suggest this restaurant or return.

Bar was fine. Beer was cold and cheap. Appetizer at dinner was great. Stuffed Shrimp wrapped with bacon. Salad bar was average I have had better with more variety. Dinner was average. Ribs. I have had much better. Service was excellent, quick and attentive.

Cattle Baron's has an outstanding salad bar with fresh veggies and fruits, above average prepared salads, cheeses, desserts, and 2 soups. Don't miss the Pork Posole soup. They bring fresh baked bread to your table and we received excellent service. This is a bargain for all you can eat for $8.

C'mon now.

Without the salad bar, this place would go under... fast!

    (3)

BEWARE!!!

If you order an entree, you get all you can eat salad bar. This really fills you up, so don't go too crazy. I ordered the rib eye...it was okay...there was a huge chunk of fat in the middle didn't like that. The waiter we had was not overly friendly nor rude. He was just there to get his job done, no bull shittin, just get straight to the point. lol

    (1)
  • Lawrence G.

Great service, just ok steaks. I should of known when they has the certified angus stamp on their menu. That deal means frozen pre-prepared meat. Ordered a filet med rare and it came out properly, but tasted uninspiring. Well it did inspire me to write my first review. Back to the steak, a good steak doesn't need anything add to it, this one did. It was tasteless and bland. This was a outback price with a slightly better k bob or western steer quality.

Best place to eat in Southern NM. The food is great, included salad bar is awesome and has plenty of options. We love the bread, and on top of it the prices are very reasonable.

If you order an entree, you get all you can eat salad bar. This really fills you up, so don't go too crazy. I ordered the rib eye...it was okay...there was a huge chunk of fat in the middle didn't like that. The waiter we had was not overly friendly nor rude. He was just there to get his job done, no bull shittin, just get straight to the point. lol

Great salad bar and steaks! Wife and I both had rib eye steaks cooked differently. We were both pleased with the steaks. I wish I had ordered a smaller steak because the extensive salad bar and soup had so much to offer.

WOOOO! Therapy!

BEWARE!!!

Without the salad bar, this place would go under... fast!

The quality and cleanness is going down. I found dirty vegetables in the salad bar with small flys and gelatin with Roche legs, we pay and left this restaurant,

WOOOO! Therapy!

C'mon now.

Great salad bar with many items.....almost unheard of these days when bag-o-salads are the trend. The prime rib was excellent and fixin's were also great!! This place is a must when visiting Roswell. The service was great too, even if our server did have a large party....we would have never known it!!!
