Service was very good, abuzz with locals. Overpriced for what you get. My burger and baked potato were luke warm at best. It was not very busy so my food should have been fresh. I recommend going some place else I you can! The salad bar was okay, veggies cold and about average. Wish the food had been better after a long day on the road!

If I could give K-Bob's in Raton a zero I would. I ordered the salad wagon and found human hairs in my salad (Not mine). After waiting for 20 minutes for our waitress to return to our table she said oh sorry I will take the salad off your bill! I commented that I thought the hair was coming from the mushroom container. She discussed this with the hostess and no one changed the container even though other customers were still ordering the salad bar. Gross!

One of the worst places I have ever eaten. This experience was from many years ago. I see that they are still in business so I'll assume that they have improved. This is my first ever one star rating.

About the best food you will get here in raton. Decent prices and decent beer selection.

You go to kbobs for chicken fried steak, which they do the best. There was not a drop of gravy left on the plate because it was so delicious. Texas toast? Yum. Grilled shrimp? Yum! You want comfort food, this is your place.

Stopped in after I rolled into town to work for the week. I was seated pretty fast and the waitress was nice. I ordered the Merchant. 8oz NY with a baked potato. Steak came out as ordered and tender, potato was, well, a potato. Not too bad of a meal. Probably eat here again.

Okay, the reviewer with the one star I think probably didn't know what he was getting into when he was looking for some nutrition and decent lettuce, pretty brave to order fish at a place like this too (though, I agree with him, it just isn't the area and you got spot location right off the bat). That being sad, the food is still on the poor/decent side depending on what you order. The chicken fried chicken was good, coffee is good (important on a road trip). The service was very good. The 10 oz ribeye was 3 oz of fat and grizzle, the mashed potatoes were out of a box, gravy was out a can, and the green beans were frozen. So don't order any of that. The thing about this restaurant is it's the only game in town, there's a McDonald's and a few other questionable looking restaurants and a gas station. So you're left with this place unless you want to test your strength against low food standards. Oh and maybe don't waste your $4 on the cobbler - it too came straight from the frozen foods section.

The Salad Wagon was awesome! The food wasn't all that good though. The steak was tough and dry. The chicken fried steak was just plain. A little disappointing.

On way back to Colorado from Phoenix and stopped in- parking lot was full so looked like a good choice. It was a really good choice-husband and I both had Rodeo Ribeye- really good cut of meat: tender and delicious! Cooked perfectly. Seems to be a favorite with the locals. Service a bit slow.

Seriously the BEST shrimp fajitas I've ever had. We are from San Diego and KNOW fajitas!! My husband had the BBQ combo. It was very tasty. The sausage was perfect, but the brisket and chicken were dry. It was a Tuesday night, so it may have been cooking too long. However, it was tasty.

This was the worst place to eat during our road trip. The food has absolutely no nutrition. Don't have what they call the Tilapia. It's some sort of unidentifiable white thing and if that was the first time eating Tilapia I would never get near it again. The baked potato served along side tasted like it was baked last week and reheated. Okra tasted like cardboard. World famous salad wagon thinks iceberg lettuce is the only lettuce that grows from the earth. The best thing about this meal was the bottled beer. Waitress was very nice also. RUN from the food!!!

This review is specifically aimed at the Raton K-Bob's. My wife and I love K-Bob's. We have been on several roadtrips specifically to eat at a K-Bob's. This was our first - and last - experience at the Raton location. Three in our party and the only decent food item was fried mushrooms. I had the Cowboy steak, a 'one pound' ribeye. I intended to share it with the others, but none of us tried a second bite. Mind you it tasted fine and was cooked medium as requested. Other than that, it was garbage. It actually hurt my teeth to chew it. I've never seen so much gristle in any meat. It was an effort to cut. Suffice it to say, it wasn't a pound. The baked potatoes were not fully cooked and each came with more butter than ten potatoes could handle. It was disgusting. The soups were Pozole and pinto beans. The Pozole was acceptable, but not special and needed salt. The pinto beans were lukewarm and utterly tasteless. I was so confused that I got a second bowl after stirring it up. Nope. It was made with water and zero seasoning. Unreal that pinto beans could be screwed up. Oddly the whole debacle was presaged by the manager. When we walked in there was a sign with the specials. One was a hilariously misspelled blackened catfish. So much so that I asked what the mystery dish was. The fine lady of meager learning said it was 'just a blackened catfish' with a normal pronunciation - not one inspired by the spelling. So just to clarify, I asked 'oh so you just blacken the catfish' semi-rhetorically. Then I got an answer that should have sent us to Denny's. 'Oh no! We grill the catfish and then rub on a black seasoning mix that colors the fish. We never blacken it on purpose!' This was followed by a laugh that told me I was pitiably uncultured. My twenty years in Louisiana suggest she may be mistaken. Did I mention that there were two lots of identical pea and mayo salad on the salad bar? That wasn't the shocking part. The largest bowl on the salad bar contained a blue Jell-o. Oh and so did another bowl. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt there's this much uniquely bizarre demand for blue Jell-o in Raton. Just to round out the experience, the only toilet stall in the men's room was clean, but there was no door latch. That's okay, being greeted by a surprised nine year old while pooping was on my bucket list. In summary, if you're in Raton ... Go to Denny's.

Good was great. Just small portions and slow order. 3 chicken strips with a chicken strip order. About a $10 meal with salad bar option for $3.99. High price!

The greatest chicken fried steak I have ever had anyplace, anywhere, any time. Friendly and attentive service, this place knows what it does well, and does it better than anyone. Wish I could give it 6 stars.

Seated quickly. Tasty! Chili fries with fresh green chili & chicken. Had the BBQ brisket, sausages & chicken combo, very generous serving. Service prompt even though they had a baby shower going on in the back room.

Worlds famous salad bar... for having NO salad! After a long day of shooting came in here with about 12 starving people. most of us ordered a side of the "world famous salad bar." only to find nothing but an empty pit where lettuce should be. ~20 minutes later things was fixed... someone fell asleep they said. The food itself was almost forgettable if it hadn't made a couple of us sick latter in the night. Go to the Mulligans in the best western instead.

Regret not going to Pizzahut. Salad bar was old and poor selection. Steak was ordered medium and was served very well. The baked potato wasn't half bad

We've been on a road trip thru the southwest so I'm not sure how to really rate some of these places. How many choices does one have driving thru Raton? We picked one that was on the freeway sign and had directions. The place was pretty crowded for Wednesday lunch, however, I don't know how many places there are to choose from. Anyhow, there's a 'Salad Wagon', which was a little too scary for me. They have homemade pastries and good lunch specials. I had the chicken sandwich and it was OK. Probably better than fast food. Whatcha gonna do when you're on the road with your MIL and trying to get on the road again ASAP to your destination. This place is OK.

If bland killed you, i'd be a ghost right now. I think this is the most average nondescript American mouthhole-stuffer in New Mexico. You could probably get the same fare at any college campus cafeteria, without the Jesus-loves-country music. Save your fifteen bucks and hit the Dairy Queen. I did give it two stars because it didn't make me sick and the Cole slaw and okra were good.
