The city of Raton in New Mexico does not have much to boast, but tucked right off the main road sits Enchanted Grounds Espresso Bar. This humble cafe slings out a handful of espresso-based beverages, light grub, and a smattering of pastries and baked goods. As I have continued to learn about chemicals and the like, Styrofoam continues to rise higher on my "no go" list. Unfortunately, they pour the to-go's into the deadly chemical. Just think about it... hot, nearly boiling liquid poured into a material that leeches into your body. The lady behind the desk dutifully crafted our cups of joe, and I felt cared for at this humble little stop along I-25. Drop in if you need a fill up en route to the North or down the interstate South.

Chai latte was great, English toffee latte was good, service was not that great--Batista was a bit rude.

Really neat, hole in the wall place in Raton. Came here from out of town, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Their espresso is superb!

What a great surprise in my home town. I had the sop of the day and my husband had the "best sandwich I have ever eaten". Great and friendly service. Off the main drag. Good luck and hope to see you again soon

Coffee is good, scones also, people are knowledge about area and very friendly, pleasant location downtown and a real down-home feel to it. A definite stop on future trips through Raton.

We were lucky to spot this on a Thursday afternoon while driving 2nd Street (the main drag of downtown Raton) searching for the Ice House. The Ice House was closed (apparently it opens late, for dinner) but we were quite happy with this two year old cafe, espresso bar, and gallery/shop. The cafe is located where the Silver Dollar bar used to be and still contains some of the original fixtures. They have free WiFi which is an added bonus. My soy, iced latte was smooth and flavorful. They get fresh beans from Spanish Peaks Coffee Roasters, in Pueblo. They do not have a kitchen but serve a small menu of grilled panini, sandwiches, and wraps, as well as breakfast sandwiches. We tried the Oriental Chicken Salad and the Chicken Caesar Wrap. The chicken in the salad was a tad dry but the dressing was good and both were fresh and tasty. They had a variety of muffins and pastries but we did not sample any as we had stocked up in Santa Fe for our drive north to CO. I'm happy to have found a good place to stop in Raton as the options are rather limited! The owners are friendly and we hope they continue to expand their offering.

Thanks Yelp community! Your reviews led us to this gem - delicious sandwiches & salads! Try the grilled beef, green chile & cream cheese panini, the grilled veggie panini or the seasonal strawberry salad. Quirky & quiet, with magazines to read and a book exchange.

Just what the doctor ordered. I drive between texas and colorado often and have for years. This cafe is a bit off of the beaten path, 5 minutes into town or so but worth the stop to be sure. I was in search of a coffee and found a fantastic brevee with an added shot that was better than starbucks ever dreamt of being. For lunch I had an itialian panini that was right ok the mark for an Italian brunch, perfectly prepared with fresh potato chips on the side. $15 for a great brevee and delicious lunch, I will be stopping here every time I am able. Oh, the ladies that run the place made it even better, complete with a local book exchange. This is the real deal!

We were driving through and it was a great little stop! We had an Italian panini and a green chili roast beef panini and both were hot, tasty, and freshly prepared. Served with chips or potato salad, definitely a million times better than most choices while on the road trip. They lady behind the counter was the barista, waitress, AND the chef...and with a pretty packed cafe, she managed to be super friendly and even brought out water and a treat for my pup. We sat outside since we had the pup, so dog-friendly too! Clean bathroom too, so an all around win for a pit stop :) If I am ever in Raton again, I would gladly stop in! Just a note-- they have breakfast and lunch and close early-ish, around 2:00 pm

Not sure if they're still open. :( They weren't open at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday on Labor Day weekend. It seemed strange considering the crowds in town and their hours indicated they should've been open. If I can get information, I'll adjust/modify this post.

While camping in Sugarite Canyon near Raton NM we made a coffee stop at Enchanted Grounds. This cute and eclectic little shop is where you need to go if you want coffee in Raton. We had one house blend coffee, an iced Chai Tea Latte, and a blueberry jet tea smoothy. All of these were very good and just what we needed for an afternoon pick me up. We also shared a cinnamon roll. Oh My Gosh the cinnamon roll!!! It was delicious. The owner was very friendly and even suggested we see the current production at The Shuler Theater (see review on Trip Advisor) in town. We did and that was amazing as well. So if you are in Raton stop in at Enchanted Grounds, have a drink and a snack, flip through a book and maybe even get some tips on other things to see or do.

Looked neat. We hurried to get there by 2, closing time. We arrived at 1:20 and were told the kitchen was closed because they close at 2:00. Most places, close the kitchen at 2:00, because that's your hours of opperation, not quitting time. Not to mention the 'what do you think your doing here?' look we received walking in. Bummer.

This little out of the way establishment serves up hearty simple meals. It is ran by two really cute older women. Order the half sandwich & soup and you get a full sandwich. The food was good, filling and unassuming. Great place for no frills, but wholesome!

Cute local store with delicious breakfast. I had granola and my friend had french toast. They were both awesome and large portions. Definitely recommend if you are in the local area.

A golden nugget of a find!!! Delicious pastries, heavenly coffee and super clean throughout. Want that pastry heated? No problem. Want a toasted bagel to go for later? Got it. And loved her sign that "Coffee is not a drug. It's a vitamin." Friendliest people on the planet. Will ALWAYS swing by between Texas and Montana. Bless you!

Great little shop in the middle of historic Raton. Worth the detour from I-25. See downtown Raton, flip through the history books and chat with the friendly barista. Breakfast sandwich was great with green chili, worth the wait.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with fresh and homemade food in Raton. We both had lunch special with half sandwich and soup. Sandwich was delicious, on a tasty whole grain bread. Soup was hearty but could have used some salt. Lots of coffee options. Avoid the fast food in Raton ant eat here!
