Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

This a small intimate restaurant in downtown Las Cruces. The bread is worth killing for. I had the Cuban sandwich with pork and prosciutto. Not greasy at all. Service was top notch. My wife ordered the Minestrone and extra bread. The Minestrone is made with Beef Stock which is different than a traditional minestrone. Love this place.

Authentic Italian food, a wonderful atmosphere, (and cute waiters!) made our dinner at this pizza place a great experience! I had the pepperoni calzone, which was just big enough without being obnoxious, and my friend had the carbenara pasta, which was very flavorful. Her portion was huge, so be aware if you order it, you will take some home if you order the large. We paid about $30 for two people, which we thought was quite reasonable for the food quality. Great visit!

After receiving a recommendation from a friend, my husband and I tried Zeffiro and were not disappointed. The pizza is exactly how I love it, wood-fired, thin and chewy. It was perfect. I was also happy to see they don't drown their pizza in cheese, which always grosses me out about pizza places. Their pizza selection is great, and they had a lot of toppings to pick from to make a custom pizza. They do have other Italian dishes that are not pizza related, but I can't really speak to those as I love pizza too much to pass on it. My only constructive criticism would be the waiter not explaining the garlic on the plate before setting it down and walking away. It took us a few minutes to realize that the clump was actually garlic and then realizing what to do with it. However, we consumed all of it with oil and bread after discovering what it actually was. I am really impressed with Zeffiro and will definitely be back to try many of their other menu items, if I can be persuaded to something other than pizza.

Been while since I have been here the food is as good as always. Service was not as good as it used to be but the food makes up for it.

The perfect pizzeria! We came here on a road trip after playing in White Sands all morning for lunch. We were seated and given bread with an olive oil to dip the bread into free of charge. I immediately noticed that the kitchen was open and there was a wood burning oven for all too see. I knew immediately these people knew what they were doing. I ordered a 13' margherita pizza for myself and my daughter....it was 9.95! Seriously a bargain. The margherita was perfect. Slice of mozzerella, a semi sweet sauce, fresh basil and a deliciously thin crust. Phenomenal. They could charge twice the amount and I would have thought it was great. My other daughter ordered Chicken fettucine alfredo. (She always gets this) and her eyes lit up and said it was really good. I liked it because it was swimming in alfredo sauce. They had the perfect amount so that you could taste the wood grilled chicken and pasta. This cost a whopping 8.95 and only 6.95 if you didn't want the chicken. The place is casual but nice enough for a date nite. If I lived within an hour or 2 drive, I would be a regualar. Phenomenal food and great service. Well done Zeffiro!

Food was great. Nice atmosphere.
(5)Sarah H.
Try the asparagus and lemon pizza! Just about everything in the menu is very good, although I felt that the sandwiches were unremarkable.
(4)Garrett A.
Delightfully authentic Italian pizza. This restaurant will not disappoint... Fresh daily made bread. Crusty, chewy, amazing!! Pizza dough is crispy, and has the nice flavor-touch from the fire oven. Toppings are authentic and non-Americanized. Simply delicious. American pizza and pizza chains have nothing on this place.
(5)J.R. C.
Americans have a love affair with the pizza parlor and because of that we all fancy ourselves pizza connoisseurs. So it takes a really special product to be elevated to "excellent pie" status. At least by New Mexican standards. Zeffiros meets that standard. Authentic Neopolitan style pizza baked to perfection. Everything is fresh and of obvious high quality. I tried the supreme, which comes with thinly sliced pepperoni, (which means your pie doesn't turn into a greasy mess), shaved sausage, mushrooms, black olives, and I substituted the red onion for green chile. 5 star worthy, mouth watering goodness here.
(5)Jerry W.
Excellent NYC style homemade pizza, and other entrees. Only problem is you can't have wine on the outdoor patio, because it is not enclosed.
(4)ELISABETH S.
Hands down the best pizza I've ever had! We live in a Dallas suburb and there is good pizza everywhere. This was something you'd find in NYC, but for 1/2 the price. I had the special- pesto, artichokes, chicken and olive oil for $9. Absolutely amazing!!!
(5)Denise R.
One star represents the quality of the service, never got a chance to try the food. Loved the excellent Yelp reviews. My large family was driving from San Antonio we made the plan to get take out from this restaurant and take back to our hotel. Their Yelp page clearly states that they do take out, when we went inside we were informed that they do not do take out. The hostess said they do not have cartons for the pizzas. What? We were a large order than would have been to go, so we would not have taken up any space in the restaurant. Lost revenues. WARNING TO WEARY TRAVELERS THEY DO NOT DO TAKE OUT.
(1)Matthew T.
Hands down my favorite restaurant in New Mexico! The best pizza I have had in the USA. This is authentic Italian food and the Quattro Formagi pizza is done right with Gorgonzola! I wanted to bathe in the goodness.
(5)Melanie B.
Awesome service! Vincent was top knotch! Great fizzy water and yummy vino!! I wish we lived here, we would be here once a week! Visiting from Austin, Texas! We ordered the large Mergerita pizza! The crust was crunchy and the basil was fresh! I am a happy patron! :) Ask for Vincent!
(5)Laurie S.
Updating my previous review. Do NOT order the pasta there. Just because they are good with bread and pizza does not mean they are good at pasta. The pasta dishes are flavorful, but the pasta is ALWAYS overcooked and mushy, with no bite to it. If you like it overcooked, then go for it!
(3)Colleen B.
We were driving through and looking for a decent meal and yelp directed us here. What a gem for this tiny town! They have a wood burning pizza oven, which makes the best pizza in my opinion. They also have unique flavor combinations. I had the lemon asparagus pizza, which wasn't my favorite but I'm glad i tried it. In addition to pizza, they also have soups, salads, pasta and a decent wine menu. They also have loaves of homemade bread for purchase. Seating is a bit tight but the food is so good, you won't care!
(4)Shad S.
We luckily just happened to drive by this place on our way into town for the night. We decided to give it a try after reading all the other reviews on yelp. Every other positive review on here is very well put. The food is fantastic. Really the lemon asparagus pizza is a must try for everyone. Such a great blend of flavors on a really amazing crust. Cooked to a crunchy yet soft perfection as you work your way through each slice. I will defiantly remember to come back to his place on any future travels trough the area!
(5)Zak F.
Gives #1 pizza n US ..re: Pizza Bianco n PHX a run for its money! Made a "custom Fennel n mushroom on Pesto" ..to die for...great crispy crust...almost like they want to appogize for..for the un-knowledged...ill be here again!!
(5)Mindy G.
Great pizza, bread, salad and service. They don"t do to go so we ordered a large to have left overs. They also do a great show you can watch them make the food.
(5)Linda Z.
Wood fired pizza done to perfection. We are always on the lookout for great pizza in our travels and I have to say this is the best so far. We ordered a Margherita pizza, thin crust with the perfect amount of toppings. Also had a wood grilled chicken salad and spaghetti and meatballs. Would love to have the recipe for the meatballs. Great service from our waiter Nathaniel. Can't wait to stop in again when we are in Las Cruces.
(5)Candace S.
I second everyone that tells you to order the lemon asparagus pizza. DO IT!!!! It was amazing!!! I can't wait to try all of their other pizza flavors as well! I've only lived in the area a while, but this is the best food I've had so far here.
(5)Josi B.
Excellent pizza! My favorite is every single one so far! We've been there 5 times and can't make ourselves try anything else yet, but their pastas and salads look amazing. We did have the tiramisu and almond cake which were delicious. Wish they did take-out, but other than that- it's awesome.
(5)Matthew S.
Being from Phoenix i wish they had a pizzeria like this. New York style pizza. Its really one of my all time favorites. And the price!! 2 slices(or 1 and a salad)and a soda for $5 and change. Can't beat that type of deal. Its not gourmet but man! Does it have flavor!!
(5)Joyce T.
We love pizza. And, the best pizza we have found has been in Rhode Island. Until now. We loved the Zeffiro pizza (pepperoni and green chiles). It was as we expect pizza to be ....thin crust, great tomato sauce and cheese that pulls from the pizza when you take a bite. We were very pleased with the service, quick and attentive and the interior of the restaurant was inviting. Highly recommend. In fact, we are going back next week to try the pasta. If it is anywhere near as good as their pizza, we will be happy diners.
(5)Angie J.
Price was right! And pizza was great! We are in town for work and found this place on yelp. We had 4 beers, large pizza and a small salad plus tip for $35. We would come back.
(5)Thomas D.
The atmosphere feels clean and inviting with a very tall ceiling so it never gets cramped. The music is always pretty good too, mainly 80's stuff. Been helped a couple of times by a cute chick, whom I believe is the owner's daughter, who is cool and friendly just like the rest of the staff. The prices are a touch high, with two drinks and a medium pizza (16") running around $20...but I promise you that you pay for quality! My good friend and soon to be room-mate swears this is the best pizza he has ever had! Been here several times; all have been equally awesome! This is hands down the best New York style pizza I have ever had! And believe my sincerity, this boy has had A LOT of pizza from MANY places haha! My friend and I can't wait to move in to our apartment literally 100yds down the street from this place next month. We've already agreed we will be regular customers every Friday! In order to truly express how great this place is, you must picture Zoog Von Rock from the band Angelspit throwing up his metal horns and yelling in his thick Australian accent, "This place ROCKKKS!!!" \m/
(5)BelvandNugget J.
The appetizer bread was crusty and delicious, accompanied by a great olive oil, garlic and herb dipping sauce. The pizza was good and the crust lived up to its reputation. We built our own pizza with green chiles, red onions, prosciutto and red sauce. It's a pizza place, so the ambience isn't anything special, but you can watch the pizza man toss dough in the corner before it goes in the wood-fired oven.
(4)Rich H.
I don't give out 5 stars often but this place deserves 6. Top notch brick oven pizza with fresh ingredients. I've toured Italy and this pizza rivals the best I've had in Italy. Warning. Check the hours. They close midday to reset all the fresh ingredients for dinner.
(5)Nitin R.
Stopped overnight in Las Cruces on a roadtrip home. Went to Zeffiro's Pizzeria Napoletana for dinner with my family. We got two small pizzas and they were excellent. Some of the best pizza's I've ever had actually. The crust and base was perfectly cooked and the toppings was a good amount as well. If I'm in the area, I would definitely stop by again.
(5)Christine O.
So my parents live in El Paso, and when I come to visit, we always like to try new places. Last time I came, they were raving about this awesome pizza place, but we would have to drive to las cruces. Anyways.... TOTALLY WORTH IT! Y'all this pizza is so fresh... You can see inside the kitchen and watch them make it. I ordered the Margherita Pizza, it had a thin crunch crust and the best part was that is wasn't greasy !!! Everything about their food was awesome, I would def suggest this place to anyone craving a good pizza!
(4)Xanthe P.
I cannot believe I forgot to review my favorite pizza, not only in Las Cruces but the best since Zachary's in Berkeley CA. The crust is fabulous, crunchy, tasty, perfectly cooked every time. One must know that in a brick oven, small dark parts form but that is what makes it delicious. If you like the national chains, you might not like it because it is truly on the authentic end of the pizza spectrum. This is how I ate pizza in Italy. The toppings are evenly distributed as well. Don't miss the bread and their pasta is very good as well.
(5)Jewel M.
All the reviews I read about this place were spot on! The pizza was fabulous, the wine was wonderful, small salad was fresh & the pesto dressing was delish! Loved the complimentary bread with garlic & oil while I sipped my wine and looked over the menu. I also had really friendly service and noticed everyone seemed to work great together. I'm only sorry I'm just passing through or this would be a regular stop me!
(5)Mark B.
My wife and I are traveling. Looked up places to eat and found this restaurant. OMG, hands down the best pizza I have ever had. We had a pollo pesto pizza to die for.
(5)Leila R.
Decent enough, but nothing to write home about. And service was super fast (though this might have been we were there at 5pm when they opened for dinner) as opposed to the slow service comments on several other reviews. We were in and out in under an hour and did not feel rushed at all. The complimentary bread and olive oil was just weird. The bread served w/the dipping sauce was NOT dipping bread. Also, you mix your own olive oil and garlic dollop. Side salad was a nice assortment of greens and the raspberry vinaigrette was good, but skimpy on the tomato and croutons. For my entree, I had the "make your own pie" of the blanco base w/wood fired chicken, artichokes, and pine nuts. Pretty good and the crust was thin, but good and cooked just right. I was impressed they had a Montepulciano D'Abruzzo on their wine list as this is one of my Fav pizza wines. It was served at correct temp for a red wine and was a generous pour! I had the tiramisu and a shot of espresso. The tiramisu was very good and had really good coffee flavoring which went well w/the espresso. The espresso was a nice surprise as well in that it was served Italian style. Small, dark, and thick. My only complaint (and reason for a star dock) was the seating setup inside is awkward and crowded and if they are going to have western facing windows, they need blinds. We had to move seats to prevent retina damage from the direct sun burning holes where my pupils used to be!
(3)Noah R.
Pizza was excellent. Staff was always around. The only reason I'm giving this amazing pizza place 4 stars is because the staff was always just hangin out right outside the kitchen, kind of hovering.
(4)Allison G.
Oh how I miss this place. So delicious. The bread and pizza are amazing. I always brought people here when they came to visit and everyone loved it, hands down. Try the pesto pollo pizza, it's amazing.
(5)Vivienne C.
What a treat! My folks treated us to lunch here while we were visiting in Las Cruces, and I can't wait to go back! Fresh handmade bread with olive oil and garlic while you wait for your meal is beyond tasty. I LOVED the Lemon Asparagus pizza....so unique with paper thin slices of lemon, grilles asparagus and proscuttio! Amazing! My fiance really enjoyed his meatball calzone, and looking at other diners plates it seems they have some great pasta and entrée salads as well. Service was fast and friendly, and prices reasonable. Adding another "must return" to my list for Las Cruces
(5)Liana A.
I'm rating based on the pizza that is delicious . They also sell some of the best bread (baguettes and boules) in town. When seated the offer you crusty bread and a garlic puree, that once mixed with olive oil is the so addictive (for garlic lovers). I've never had their pasta which is why I am only rating 4 stars. Good pizza option in cruces!
(4)D M.
The pizza - OMG - My wife and I had the best pizza and service one could ever expect at an eatery. My wife had the blanco pizza; 3 cheeses - mozzarella, romano pecarina and feta. I had the Zeffiro which consisted of pepparoni's, cheese and sliced jalapenos. For me this signature pizza is one I would order every time I'm here. It would be awfully hard to pick another pizza off the menu. We both ordered the 10 inch size which is the lunch size for one person. Let me tell you it is bigger than you might think but maybe that is because they put it on a plate that is purposely just too small for the 10 inch to fit on the plate comfortably. Nevertheless....it was enough pizza. On top of that there was copious amounts of pepperoni on the thin crust pizza. Just outstanding all the way around. I only wished they had Dos Equis for a beer selection, however the Amber Boch went will with the pizza. Also I should note, the waiter we had today was superb always at the table to check on things at the right moment. Just a great experience over all. Any disappointment? Yes, I wish they would get someone to expediently get their new web site up and running with a link to their menu. The menu will bring more customers and I always like to know what my options are, if I can, before I visit so I don't have to sit an extra 5 to 10 minutes reading a menu.
(5)John M.
The Lemon/Asparagus Pizza is the bomb. If you try it and don't like it,please feel free to call me names.
(5)Deb K.
A cool little place. We ordered the zeffiro pizza and added fennel sausage ,it was sooo good. Our server was funny and nice. Will return on our next visit to Las Cruces
(5)Mark B.
Excellent New York style pizza. Zeffiro is also an excellent choice for delicious baked breads of all varieties. Can't beat the fresh bread and olive oil provided free as an appetizer.
(4)Josy J.
What a great pizzeria! We traveled through to Las Cruces from San Antonio and found a delicious Italian locals place which was very busy and served up just the right amount of food after a long day on the road. I thought the minestrone soup was wonderful as well as the pizza , although it could of used a bit more tomato sauce.
(5)Lance S.
VERY good, authentic Italian Pizza! Some of the best I've had in the states. Love the option of potatoes on pizza!
(5)Adam B.
I ended up staying a night in Las Cruces, NM and was in a quandary as to where to find good food. Yelp showed Zeffiro Pizzeria as the highest-rated restaurant in the area and since I didn't have a taste for anything in particular, I decided to try it out. I'm glad I did! The place has a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and offered some great suggestions on the menu. I ended up having the Zeffiro pizza (pepperoni & green chili peppers) and a house salad (mixed greens, grape tomatoes, croutons and a raspberry vinaigrette) with a great glass of chianti. I finished with the tiramisu. The salad and starter bread were both very enjoyable and plated nicely. The dressing on the salad was exactly the right amount for me - not too heavy, not too light, offering the right amount of sweetness to the blend. The Zeffiro pizza came out perfectly. Oven-baked to perfection (IMHO) with just the slightest charring, the crust was excellent and the ingredients were superb. I thought the flavors of the pepperoni mixed with the green chiles were fantastic. The tiramisu was a slight let-down as it wasn't as moist as I'd like, and also was not made with the usual soaking of rum/brandy/marsala that I particularly enjoy in other recipes. That said, the overall taste was enjoyable and presentation was well-done. I'd definitely recommend this place as a great lunch or dinner stop when you're visiting (or passing through) Las Cruces, NM. I'd certainly make a point to come back to it again - hopefully I get that chance!
(5)Bobbie B.
Was in town visiting some family and was just looking a pizza place that wasn't pizza hut or little caesars, so glad I found Zeffiro's. There were three of us and we all had something different. I had the spaghetti and meatballs it was delicious and fresh. My mom had a personal pizza and was cooked perfect and one of the best pizza's I've ever tried. And finally my grandma had I can't remember the name but it was a kind of grilled roast beef sandwich with fresh made chis and a dipping sauces which she loved. We happened to go on Valentines day so it was incredibly busy but the service was pretty fast and really friendly. Definitly worth the price and will be going again next time I'm in time.
(5)LA V.
This place is fantastic! Just go. We were on a road trip headed to Texas and found this spot. We were even able to sit in a completely shaded area outside with our dog. The bread is fantastic, salads, pasta and pizza were delicious. Even if you are just driving through town, get an order to go and eat it on the next leg of your journey. I am telling everyone I know who is driving through town to stop here. I had the spinach salad with strawberries and we bought a baguette to go. SO GOOD!
(5)Jesse W.
Not the best pizza in town (that would be Dion's), but definitely the biggest! Be sure to try their white garlic pizza, very delicious. Great location for NMSU students, and the $5.00 deal is great (2 large slices and a drink)! Although the drink fountain is behind the counter, they will refill your drink for free if you ask them to. Very friendly service!
(4)Jessica A.
I feel bad only giving a 3, for me my overall experience when you average it out was just like the rating -- a-ok. The worst part of my experience tonight was the service. I was bounced around like a ping pong ball. I rushed to get to this location, as per yelp and their own website -- it listed them closing at 8pm on a Saturday night.(Only to learn that they actually close at 9pm on Saturdays - - doh! update your website.) I arrived around 7:45pm. I was greeted by a friendly employee, but the inside was absolutely packed -- so he recommended that I dine outside in their "patio area". Well, it is under some renovation. In all actuality, they are replacing the cement floor with tiles. There was one table that was open outside - - it was a larger one that would normally seat 4. But that's all that was left -- so I went there. No chairs.... Another friendly server helped to bring a chair over for me. She said she would bring some water and bread. I then waited..... And waited. A different server asked if I had ordered anything - -which seemed odd to me, as I thought someone else was helping me. Anyways, I could go on... but I'll just sum it up with my service experience was awkward at best! I was being passed around.. to end up with a server who was not so friendly or knowledgeable about the menu. I chose to create my own pizza; so I went with the red sauce, pepperoni, and fennel sausage. The pizza was awesome! As it was delivered to me one of the "nice" servers said, "I hope it's worth the wait!". I laughed inside thinking... "huh, more like worth the bad service." Pizza was great.... loved the blistered, charred Napolitano style. There was a TON of pepperoni and sausage. I would have preferred the pepperoni a little more crunchier and cooked... but overall it was very tasty. The bread basket that they served was also very good. It was served w/ an odd small bowl of something.... seemed like it should have been served with olive oil. Overall, I had to ask for everything since my table wasn't set. Olive oil, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, ... even a chair!! And to complain more (sorry!) but my table outside was on a serious slant. So I couldn't put too much olive oil on my plate, otherwise it would run over. Kinda awkward for sitting. I'm hoping that my experience was an "off" experience... compared to all the other stellar reviews. But... I do have to say, that I was greeted twice by the owner (I believe). That was a really nice touch! Awkward service...... delicious pizza!
(3)Bryan C.
Awesome salad with grilled chicken, fresh garlic and oil with bread is a sinus clearing treat. Only drawback is the weird hours mean they are closed 80% of the time I try to stop by.
(4)Chris R.
Came through town, wanted some pizza. Not too bad Las Cruces, not too bad. I enjoined this place. The pizza was cooked via wood fired oven, and the salad was packed with sauteed chicken. Fresh, simple, tasty.

In town for the Bataan Memorial Marathon, March 2012. I wandered in solo for lunch. Not busy at all. Food was fine but service was poo poo. I ordered a pizza with chicken. The pizza arrived with nary a chunk of anything. Seriously it was a oily cheese pizza. So I asked the waiter about the chicken. He said the little crumbles were the chicken (those crumbles were cheese). I wanted to maintain my happy mood so I dropped it. When he brought the bill, he said he checked with the chef and both of them together figured out there was no chicken on my pizza. So, in a grand gesture, he was not going to charge me for chicken. Really? Thanks so much for doing me a favor. Oh and several requests for refills went ignored. Stale bread. It was a late lunch and I know the staff was turning over, but wow. Parking is easy and the covered patio seating was nice. The argument over the would-be chicken was really annoying, although there were enough other holes in the service to ensure I won't be returning.

On a recent day trip to Las Cruces, we were hungry for pizza and decided Zeffiro's sounded like a great idea. They don't have a ton of parking, but we were lucky and got a spot really close to the front. The location is cute. There is seating inside and they have a nice patio outside as well. Since it was lunch time, we found the place pretty busy, but we were able to get a table on the patio. Our waitress came by really quickly to take our order and she brought this delicious complimentary bread with garlic butter and herb dipping sauce. Wow! I almost filled up on the bread before I even ordered, but I saved some space thank goodness. She was a very good waitress as she was informative, courteous and knowledgeable about the place. We decided to start with the Wood Fired Chicken Salad which was very tasty. It contained Organic mixed greens, wood fire roasted chicken, feta cheese, pine nuts, Kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, fresh cherry tomatoes, dressed with a light pesto and extra virgin olive oil dressing. The chicken was grilled perfectly and added a really nice taste to the salad. The olive oil pesto sauce contained a good amount of oil so it wasn't too thick and it covered the salad with a light pesto taste. Note, the salad was huge and probably would've been great on it's own. We also ordered a Capricciosa pizza. Amazing. The ingredients included tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Prosciutto, fresh mushrooms, and some more of those great Kalamata Olives. I like their pizza style as it is cooked very hot and fast so there is a nice char on the pizza, but it doesn't taste burned. The crust is crisp, and thin as they said their style is Neapolitan. The good news it's amazing when you're there, but it doesn't travel quite so well, so if you reheat it, use a toaster oven. The patio does have a little bit of a fly issue, but the food was so good, we really didn't care. If you happen to be in Las Cruces and feel like some good Italian food, definitely give Zeffiro a chance.
(4)Amanda H.
Zeffiro's is my go-to for ridiculously delicious pizza! In the land of chiles, New Mexican cuisine and chain restaurants Zeffiro's is a gladly welcomed change. They always have excellent service and I've never had to wait for a table. My favorite pizza's here are the Prosciutto and Potato Rosemary. I've had a couple of others and they were all equally delicious. If chile is your thing, don't worry, the Zeffiro pizza is calling your name.
(5)Humberto R.
Went today around 12:30pm ! Let me just say this place should not be # 1 listed. I would say # 9 or 10 and I'm being nice, but for sure top 50 list! The bread was not bad, but by far not amazing bread. I had the pizza, which was ok. My friend had spaghetti and meatballs. Horrible does not even do it justice. To top it off we only got drink refill once . The sauce for the pasta was bland and lacking. When I say lacking I don't mean just not enough. Ok I do mean lacking by not enough, but lacked flavor! We asked for extra and never got it, but bland at its best! Rule number one taste your food before it comes out! If you wouldn't feed it to your dog, don't sell it to your customers. Location is great and loved the outside sitting. That was the only plus!

Great little place in Downtown Las Cruces. Had good food, fast service and enjoyed the atmosphere.
(4)Tom C.
This was the top reviewed restaurant in Las Cruces on Yelp so we went. They bring fresh bread to table with a little dish with a pile of minced garlic and you add your own oil. Too strong, yuck. Ordered Wood Fired Chicken Salad and it was way over dressed in oil. The greens, chicken and mix was very yummy, just too much oil. Daughter had Pasta and was very good. They have a signature dessert on menu but they didn't have it. I mean, we got there at 5:30pm, they open at 5 and they didn't have it. The waiter was very poor at checking back with us for refills and just in general. Took a long time to get our check. Too bad too because I will tip 20% or more for great service...not tonight buddy!

Some of the best Italian-style pizza I've had in America. Maybe THE best. What does that mean? Well, obviously Italian pizza is very different, and while many American pizzerias try to emulate that style (often with the misnomer "gourmet"), few succeed. Simply making the crust needlessly thin and using less cheese doesn't count. Zeffiro succeeds. The margherita pizza there is outstanding. Another pleasant surprise, the white (no sauce) 4-cheese pizza is also outstanding - and 4-cheese Italian pizza is virtually impossible to find done right anywhere in America. So that was a treat. The crust is actually a crust that you would want to eat, even all by itself. The cheeses they use are delicious. As a bonus, the fresh bread they bring out as a free appetizer is fantastic, and the Italian sodas are nice, too. If you're passing through Las Cruces, a stop here should be mandatory.

Anywhere I go, I make finding an amazing pizza my mission. This place is definitely at the top of the list. I visited this place on a road trip to Austin and you know how I know it's awesome? I'm sitting in my apartment in Orange County, CA 6 months later wondering when I will have another opportunity to go. The pizza was delicious and exciting. The caprese salad was also well made with fresh ingredients. Service was excellent. I found nothing to complain about. I can't wait to see you again, Zeffiro.

We were in town for a race and wanted pasta for dinner. Although we had trouble finding the restaurant, it was well worth it. The place was busy for a Saturday evening, but our waiter was incredibly nice. The bread was brought promptly to our table. Nothing is better than bread right out of the oven. The garlic butter was a tad intense, but was better with some extra olive oil. Our pasta dishes were very good. I had the pesto farfalle with chicken while my husband had the gnocchi with chicken. Both were well prepared, not overcooked, with just the right amount of grilled chicken. Overall, this was a very good place that we would revisit when traveling through the area.

I went for lunch and assumed it would be a pizza/subs place, but in fact it was a sit-down restaurant. They start you off with a small plate of garlic and spices and you add the olive oil to go with your basket of bread. I was a bit dissapointed with the bread choice. It was good bread, just not optimal dipping bread. I got a personal pizza that was fired high and tasted nice. They seemed to have some nice choices for meals, pizza, pasta, paninis. I would go back if I needed an Italian dinner fix.

Wow man - I expected good pizza, but it was just OK. I mean that it *might* have been average. It was ultra-thin, but very dry and almost crunchy. Luna Rossa absolutely destroys this pizza, but it's a whole different kind of place. Service was good. I had a tall pretty girl that asked me how I was and actually waited to hear my answer.

Excellent pizza! My favorite is Fennel Sausage, Pepperoni and Onions. The crust is thin, just the way we like it. The bread served is very good, and if you like minced garlic with olive oil for dipping, you will be additionally pleased. Service is excellent.

I know, I know, Las Cruces and Italian? Just try the prociuto pizza or the caprese salad. Then you'll get it. We r from Georgetown TX and this place made the layover in LC worth it.

Stopped in for lunch here with my kiddo. I had the pepperoni and also a slice of the mushroom and black olive. The pizza is a very thin crust, cooked well, with a browned botoom. Lots of cheese, slightly greasy, strong garlic/oregano flavor. Not bad food and service was good.

Really, really good pizza. Like, excellent pizza. Best pizza I've had since I was in Italy. I wish I could pick this place up and move it to Baltimore!
(5)Samantha F.
They have great homemade bread. They also have a story about it on their menu, but I never read those things. I don't care about the bread's story unless the bread is good, and by that time, the menu is long gone. They should put stories somewhere that isn't taken away. Had a margarita pizza. The sauce was great. The crust was amazing. Skimpy on the basil and mozzarella was a little too chewy. Nice people. Nice atmosphere. Professional.

As a native New Yorker now living in New Mexico, in a town where Mexican restaurant are ubiquitous, upon seeing Zeffiro's promoting their "New York style pizza", I was undoubtedly skeptical. After trying their location on University Ave. a few times (which is set up more like a regular pizzeria... get your slice at the counter), I thought their pizza was pretty decent but it was their salad dressing that drew me back multiple times. But we decided to try their main location off of Main Street which really is a world of difference. Here, it is a sit down restaurant, with many options to choose from gourmet pizza creations - where everyone gets their own pie a la Italian style. I'd said it is Italian style more so than NY style, but with being hands-down the best pizza in town, they can all it whatever they want. We were greeted by fresh cuts of bread and olive oil (which were so tasty that we ended up buying a loaf of sourdough to take home with us), and we ordered our entrees. It was a hard decision... the white asparagus & prosciutto pizza or the quattro formaggio. I went with the later and it was delicious. The crust was perfect - crispy on the outside and doughy at the same time. I was a little surprised that the pizza didn't have any tomato sauce on it, but it was so good, after one bite, I didn't care. My lunchmate ordered a pasta dish with chicken and raved about how the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. The only thing I was disappointed in was my drink - I ordered the Arnold Palmer (1/2 iced tea, 1/2 lemonade) but the lemonade was too weak to balance out the iced tea the way it should have. It tasted more like an iced tea that had several lemon slices squeezed in it, instead. This didn't really stop me from enjoying my meal since I just asked for water instead. So, when family from NY comes to visit, I can rest assure that I have one familiar place to bring them to if they get a pizza craving.

I walk past this place a couple of times a day, it's on the way to and from work. It's pretty hard not to stop and eat every time. The service is pretty good, even though it can get pretty hectic and crazy at lunch rush. The bread basket is that good. Seriously. It's kinda hard to save room for pizza when you're hungry. The crusts are supposed to be Napoli style, small, kinda chewy and with some charred spots. Never been there, so I can't say as how accurately Italian they are. I can say this; Love them. It's a crust with character! Not some grease soaked cheese delivery platform. The pizzas aren't excessively topped, you taste a little of everything in every bite. And there don't seem to be any ridiculous combinations of every form of pig. The chocolate tart a friend made me share was good, even if it was still almost frozen solid. I wish it had been thawed a little more, but hey, what a way to lose a tooth! I wouldn't even lie and call it a hockey injury. (No one would believe it in Las Cruces anyway)

We arrived hungry from a day of shopping in Old Mesilla. The kicker is that we got to Zeffiro's 40 minutes before the restaurant opened. Although they were not technically open, they seated us, promptly gave us beverages, gave us amazing fresh bread and garlic, and took our pizza order! The hospitality was amazing, and so was the pizza. The crust was thin and crispy, and the red sauce was some of the best I've ever had. My family and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Zeffiro and highly recommend it.

I've eaten here 2 times in the last 2 days! Visiting from El Paso I found this cute little pizza place that has green chile pizza. Delish! I am addicted to green chile and this pizza hit the spot. The pizza is cooked in a wood burning oven and is crisped to perfection. I am not usually a crust eater but I ate my whole pizza - both times! They also sell some of their artisan bread. They have odd hours and don't serve alcohol but overall good service and good food.
(4)Frank S.
Wow, better bread and salads than expected for Las Cruces, this is for sure. The bread is amazing, and the salads we have had were delicious. We have not tried the pizza as of yet, but will some day. Rest assured, my wife and I will be repeat customers - or dinner or on weekends. Only reason for three stars - with a limited lunch time as a concern, I tried to call in a lunch order, and was told absolutely it is against policy. They do not do to go orders, nor do they let you call in your order so it can be ready when you arrive. I guess that goes hand in hand with "artisan" being in the name - it allows you to be quirky. So if you want good food, go there, even go for lunch, but if you have a strict one hour or less lunch period, go for dinner instead.
(3)Brian P.
This is a great restaurant with staff that works hard to please. The food has never been disappointing and there is a wide variety for all pallets. They do have some funky hours (like they close at 2:00 on Saturday for a few hours before the night shift), so it's wise to call-ahead to make sure. It's worth the drive if you're passing through...
(5)Kenneth K.
I knew that there had to be a pizza place that stood out from all the rest, and I was right. THIS is the one I was looking for. Terrific people, excellent food and wonderful baked bread - what more can you ask for. And the pizza - what a treat!! For those of you that like "pan pizza", this is not for you. In my opinion, having a thick-crust pan pizza is like having a thick bowl of soup. THIN CRUST FOREVER !!!!!
(5)Allison D.
5 stars for the food, 3 for the atomosphere. The pizza was fantastic - hubby and I couldn't agree on one, so we ordered 2 smalls and shared. The salad was fresh and large enough for 2 or 3 to share. The only thing we didn't like about it was that the tables were crowded very close together. It would be very fun for a group, but not so much for couples. Our table was probably 6 inches from the one next to us - it was as if we were dining with the other couple. Lack of privacy aside - if we ever travel through Las Cruces again, we'll be back!

Delicious bread, pizza and homemade pasta. My first time here was during the rolling blackouts during the freeze in February 2011. This is, by far, my favorite place to get pizza in Cruces.
(5)Eric H.
Consistently good service alone is a reason to to frequent a restaurant in this town. At Zeffiro's you get that but also a great meal. Their pizzas are really nice, charred on a tender crust which I eat, and I don't eat pizza crusts. The salads are fresh and made with nice greens and ingredients. The atmosphere is casual and quiet. You can have a conversation in normal tones. Really great date night destination.
(4)Harold S.
Great pizza at a great price. This is as close to NYC style pizza that I have had outside of the Big Apple. The Zeffiro has pepperoni and green chili. Nice spicy combination.
(4)Scott J.
Went for dinner and it was pretty busy, but man was it worth the wait! I got the Lemon Asparagus pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The rest of the family enjoyed it as well. I've heard great things about the bread as well, but haven't tried it myself.
(5)Robyn R.
We really like their pizzas. The services is awful every time we have been but we continue to go because the pizza is darn good. It has a nice outdoor seating area. They do not allow you to call in an order to pick up.
(4)Kathryn T.
this place is great very much like pizza I had in Tuscany! I have also had the pasta and it was ok not rally very flavorful so go with the pizza... the bread is good also!

Las Cruces is full of good pizzerias these days and it looks like Zeffiros is no exception. The restaurant is in the downtown mall and is located in a relatively small location. In fact, the first time I visited (the week it opened) there was a wait for tables. Now that the hype has died down, the crowds are not as large, but Zeffiros still seems to fill up with patrons on the weekdays for lunch. The pizza is great!! They tend to make California style gourmet pizzas using ingredients such as pesto, pine nuts, and fresh roasted vegetables. The crust, which is handmade on-site, is light and tasty. The toppings, including the cheese, are top rate. The service, now that things have slowed a bit, is great. In fact, on both occasions that I was there, the owner came to our table to ask us about our experience. In addition to pizza, there are a number of other items available. I highly recommend the home made bread, which is beyond amazing. Most recently I bought some sourdough wheat bread when checking out. It was so good that my wife and I ended up eating slices of it for dinner that night.

Great pizza and prices not bad.

OMG this place is SOOOOO good! If you like fresh wood-fired pizzas this place is a must!!! My favorite is the pepperoni and green chile. The salads are super fresh and the pastas are also very good. This place is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Las Cruces!
(5)Kristin D.
WE LOVE ZEFFIRO'S! This was the best place we ate while we were in Las Cruces. They have a wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable staff. The proprietor is always around and super friendly. YOU MUST try and buy their homemade bread! You can't find anything like it in the area. We are native SF'ers and we LOVE our bread. This was like being home and the best part is that the prices are ridiculously inexpensive! I bought three rounds of sourdough and a baguette for 13.25! Their pizza is amazing and their salads are as well. We had the pesto pizza, and a couple others, but the pesto was the best and not overwhelming. We had the spinach salad with straweberries and Feta as well as the Caesar and it was all to die for! This is a MUST if you are looking for a great place to eat in Las Cruces. NOTE- they close daily for a "siesta" of sorts so check their hours. Get their ASAP in the morning to get your bread because they can sell out by 11:00- ALSO you can order your bread the day before- this is the best way to go. Oh my gosh! I almost forgot- Their Deserts are F*ing awesome- make sure you save room!!!!

I have been eating in this place for many years now and this pizza is a total competition to Cafe Italia. Same kinda quirky setting (slightly fancier with dressed waitstaff and possibly a cooler vibe than Cafe Italia) and just outstanding breads and pizza. The pizza has the same ethereal light crust with beautifully browned spots with the smokiness of the wood fired oven showing through in each bite. Our personal favorite is the Lemon Asparagus pizza with Proscuitto. Its best to leave the Proscuitto off since all it does is add a chewy saltiness to the otherwise perfect pizza...and I think its mainly because its not sliced super thin. But the lemon asparagus pizza is fantastic and is a pizza bianco (white pizza). A beautiful thin caramelized crust with a light cover of mozzarella adding a touch of milky saltiness and the earthy asparagus and the most excellent tang of the thinly sliced lemons that top the pie....aah heaven!! The salads are outstanding and so are the desserts. The perfect end of the day is to take a loaf of the baguette home..pop open a bot of wine, pull out some butter and finish the day with a few glasses of fermented grape juice accompanied by the tangy sourdough and butter.

Excellent pizza, in the old Popular store no less! Nice thin crust, not too crispy though, the baked dough was still pleasantly chewy. My Dad and I shared the Potato Rosemary pizza and I had a side salad. The potato was sliced thin so you almost didn't realize it was a potato, I think it ended up taking on all the other flavors of the pizza and just added texture which was nice actually. We both gorged on the bread basket too. I ended up still taking home 3 slices and I ate them for lunch the next day, just as good then as when it was first made. I'm always stoked when places like this in LC do well and I hope that this place stays busy and does good business so I can go any time I'm in town for years to come!

Thank you a thousand times over Zeffiro for opening your amazing little place for business!!! You have saved my life by having a creative and fresh menu full of wood fire oven pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. My wife and I go here at least once a week because we need our fix. Our favorite pizzas are the Potato Rosemary, and the Pancetta pizzas. We usually get ourselves a Mediterranean salad to go along with it. They also provide you with tons of fresh bread and olive oil / garlic dip to snack on while you wait for your food. You won't be disappointed promise!

What an AWESOME find. We were just passing through on our way from San Antonio to L.A. The pizza was on par with some of the best that we've ever had in New York and Italy. The style of pizza they serve is Napoletano, which is a thin crust hand tossed and cooked at very high heat for only a few minutes (our favorite). Fresh mozzarella and basil made out Margherita pizza fantastic. My Italian soda was great and the cheesecake was probably the fluffiest that ive ever tasted Place is family owned and the service was great. Atmosphere is upscale with a casual feel We had our 2 yr old boy with us and they really accomodated us quite well. I'd recommend travelers near and far stop by to experience the food.

AMAZING! I could end the review there but let me elaborate: 1. Excellent, quality ingredients makes for excellent food. And that's just what I got here. We had a couple of salads to start (nicely priced and well-portioned), then had the Zeffiro Pizza. Great flavors and you can tell they put thought into their creations. (You can also create your own pie.) 2. Exceptional service! Josh and Kelly were especially helpful and courteous. We didn't even notice there was a delay in our pizza coming out, but Josh (manager) came to inform us it would be out shortly. Minutes later it arrived hot and fresh to our table! 3. The atmosphere is unpretentious and relaxed. A good mix of people come through. Outdoor seating (which we really enjoyed!). Bathrooms are clean. 4. Homemade bread and olive oil are served when you are seated. Too bad I don't live in Las Cruces so I can enjoy this eatery more!
(5)Amy P.
Went there on a Friday and the dining room filled up while we were there. Great place for couples! The food was uh-mazing and the staff helpful.

I have only ate there once. I had the margarita pizza. It would be nice, but the combination of thin crust with high amounts of oily sauce made the pizza on oil ball of mush. Perhaps a bad pizza? The space is small, so during peak times during school year, you might have to wait for a table. Might want to check out the bread/pastry to go.
(3)Anita L.
I only went to their old location. Service was quick and good but the pizza crust was too done--almost to mostly burnt--for my taste. I will try it again. OK, Now I have gone to the new location and stood at the counter to order (not my favorite thing-but OK) The salad was crisp, fresh, very tasty. The Calazone was Burnt black but we scraped off the charcoal. The manager apologized although we did not complain. The calazone tasted great even with the char flavor remaining in spots. I will probably go again but will not accept another burnt offering.
(3)Jerry K.
Without a doubt this is the BEST pizza to be found in Las Cruces. With a custom-made wood-burning / gas oven getting temperatures between 800 and 900 degrees, the extraordinary featherlight dough and fresh toppings arrive table-side piping hot and crisp. The artisan bread which they bake is also top notch. Quality and attentive service, by our exuberant and thoughtful server Beck added to the overall pleasurable experience. Word of mouth has spread and the place fills rapidly when it opens for dinner at 5 PM. No more "chain pizza" for us when this amazing option is so handy, reasonably priced and terrific. We will be back for more pizza, but will also be there for lunch as well where a roasted pepper delicacy caught my eye on the carefully designed menu. What a joy to be able to report the arrival of such a top class restaurant!
(5)J S.
Great food, attentive staff, and actively-involved owners ensure that this place is a safe-bet for consistently good food and service. The ceasar salad's a bit too creamy for me, but still quite yummy and one of the better ones to be found in Cruces, and the pizza (which is really what you've gotta judge a pizzeria on) is excellent. Great desserts available as well (assuming they haven't sold out!). I also love the copious amounts of natural light as well as the open kitchen and ability to sit outside (weather-permitting)...making Zeffiro's (as my dad calls it) one of the rare NON-Mexican food eateries in Cruces that's just good, solid, and consistent eats.
(5)G. L.
Great atmosphere. Great food. Awesome bread. Great restaurant. Not-so-great chairs, so 4+3/4 stars.
(5)Daniel K.
I can't tell you how surprised and pleased I was with their pizza. When I lived in Phoenix, I went and spent the hour waiting to get into Chris' pizza place (of Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Oprah and Seinfeld fame) and it was really good, especially the bread salad. And I really enjoy Ray's in Little Italy NYC, but how often do you get there? So Zeffiro's was amazing! Pizza can be a very personal experience, and if you want Chicago style, this won't do it. But for really great thin crust pizza, this is it. The pizzas are personal size with a lot of different topping combination, so you can each try what you want. I had a Greek style with Kalamata olives. Excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Go! Nice Italian style sodas also.
