This was recommended by a bunch of friends as a great local chain. I was expecting a quirky hole-in-the wall. I was expecting plates. I was expecting forks and spoons. Cole slaw, maybe potato salad. I was expecting table service and less-than clean bathrooms. Nope. It's a chain burger place. It's out to compete with Burger King, McDonalds, and (fill-in-the-blank). And it does. It's got that fast-food decor going on, antiseptic hard plastic, tile and fluorescents. Utilitarian and kid-proof. It's got burgers wrapped in foil-paper, and mine was very good. It's got plain ol' French fries, and while I didn't care for them (I like Burger King's), fries are personal and most of my friends do, so try 'em. The soda choices are few, which is kind of a bummer, but they had the basics. They also have Nathan's hot dogs, which I love (but didn't try). Don't remember seeing quirky sides, though might have missed 'em. And they have not only shakes, but malts. I love malts. Ever try one? Give it a shot. A little less mindlessly sweet; a little crystalline crunchiness; a bit of added complexity. Not quite as good a malt as Dairy Queen's (right next door), but pretty good, and since the burger was much better, I don't see a reason to stand in two fast-food lines. The service was also very good. A little slow: think Carl's Jr./ Hardees, but I think that's because of the notch-better burgers, and it wasn't TOO slow by any means. But the service was very, very friendly. And everyone working there seemed to be smiling happily and - get this - contentedly. Believe I tasted that in my chocolate malt. Seems that Blake is trying to take on the big guys, and might just have the recipe to succeed. Go there.

The burgers are similar to Whataburger (which I hate but husband thinks it's ok). Smallish, cheap. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. Decent flavor for fast food. The uncoated fries sucked but the coated fries are better because they mask the tasteless fries. The shakes have artificial flavoring. Nasty. We tossed it. For the sandwiches, a 3.5. Sides and shake 2.

The best fast-food burgers in Las Cruces, for sure. Better than the mega-chains, and better than Whataburger. The burgers are more robust, and the beef tastes great. The fries are exceptionally well cooked, and their milkshakes are outstanding. The service is also something to add: when you dine in, someone will walk by asking if you need more condiments, or to dispose of your meal tray. The prices are very reasonable for what you're getting. Definitely has the old-time feeling of a burger joint from ages past...

Honestly, one of my favorite places for a burger, however my last two visits were mediocre at best. There were no seasoning on anything. I had to add green Chile and still it was so-so. In the past, only men worked there and the food was delicious.

I had the LOTA burger combo. It was quite good with seasoned fries. I took one star away, because I ordered it with green chili add-on and it was a combo of green and red. Also, an elderly couple were at there table and the employee came up and asked them if the order on the counter was there number. When they said yes, he didn't offer to bring it to them.

I've stopped at this Blake's Lota Burger on 3 separate occasions. Every time I got friendly outstanding service and great food. The burgers are quite good here, and the fries are usually crisp and very good as well. Normally I don't give fast food places anything higher than 3 stars, but Blake's is a step above the usual chain restaurant fare. I know of at least 2 of these shops in town, and the food at both of them is very good.
