Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
I normally don't eat at chain restaurants due to the low quality of food they produce. However, there are few places to eat in Las Cruces past 8pm, so my husband and I thought we'd try Applebees. Big mistake. While they were busy, they weren't nearly busy enough to warrant the wait we had for drinks, service and finally our food. Our burgers took over an hour to get to our table, and the fries were cold by that time. Speaking of the burgers... they were gross. I ordered the Asian Pineapple Burger and my husband ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger. When they came out the burger was massively bigger than the bun and we couldn't even tell who's burger was who's. When I tried to open mine to see what was in it, the burger itself fell apart and had no pineapple or even real sauce in it. We had to cut the burger off from around the bun to be able to even pick the thing up. The burgers had absolutely no flavor. We might have well ordered a plain burger with nothing on it, because I'm sure they tasted exactly the same. After two bites, we both decided these burgers were not worth $10, and had a manager come over. At least the manager was nice enough to comp us the meal, because we were uninterested in having the burgers remade. The food quality was so low, that after the incident we went and picked up burgers at Sonic, and they had better flavor and toppings than what Applebees served us. I would not be back and I wouldn't recommend anyone eat there.

Ate here last night and the food was absolutely vomit-inducing. What is up with their burgers?!?! The burger sticks an inch out of the bun all the way around. Tasteless. Arctic- cold French fries. Sounds good right?

Buffalo wings were seriously undercooked - pink/raw, they replaced order and after a bite discovered one was still undercooked. .. , had already taken a bite from first order and was sick the next day. They took item off check but a few more minutes manager telling us to hurry up cause they were closing ...? Well maybe if we didn't have to wait for them to try to fix their mistakes we wouldn't have been there later than we expected.

Food was mediocre, service was terrible, and there was hair in my food. The manager did nothing to correct anything about the situation. He only reassured me that his kitchen staff wore caps and hats. Don't bother with this location unless you just don't care to be treated right.

It's an Applebees like any other. I have eaten at their restaurants in many cities - both locations in Las Cruces, Colorado Springs, Denver and it's suburbs, Portland OR and it's suburbs, Puyallup WA and others and really - they're pretty much all the same. Kudos to the good standardization of quality should go to Applebees. Is this the best food I have eaten? Not by any stretch of the imagination, but still, a safe bet when out of town or not feeling the desire to experiment on a restaurant with uneven or unknown quality.

Fast and friendly service, surprising for the franchise. Perfect brewed coffee to get worked done.

Per yelp's policies, I have to state that I dined here and I did. First and foremost, it's a nice looking place. Second, there is not much to say besides that of the first part. We waited about 15 mins before anyone came and asked to see if a da*n was given. Waitress: "have you guys been helped? What can I get you drink and are you ready to order?" Well my thought was, if you have to ask the first question and its your section, you have failed as a waitress. Second, why don't you just ask why the heck don't you just get out of here. Furthermore, portions here are significantly smaller than a typical Applebee's. I ordered a full size Thai salad and it came out as a small portion in a huge dish. I guess they are trying to give you the optical illusion of if small portion is served in a big plate than it's a big portion!? It also took about 15 mins for them to bring the bill up when there were only 2 tables in this particular section. If someone I could give them a negative rating, they'd get about a negative 10. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, let me repeat, the WORST. I completely lost appetite within the first 20 mins. don't judge a book by its cover, but then there isn't much to judge if there is not much. Nice place and horrible customer service? = trash. Don't bother to come here and waste your money and time. McDonald's would have provided better customer services than this particular Applebee's.

Came here with a couple friends for appetizers and drinks one evening. We were seated quickly. My companions didn't want to sit in the bar area where I could've watched college football (dammit). Food was about what you would expect. It's really difficult to goof-up deep fried appetizers. Our server, Mike S, was terrific! He was attentive, fun, and definitely knew what he was doing. He'd get six stars if I compared him to the level of service at most places in my current home town. Applebee's has the name recognition. I'd go again for the service.

I dined at this Applebee's a couple of days ago. I am not sure why, but the food at this location just did not meet the standards of your every day Applebee's. I ordered the exact same dish... The "margarita lime chicken and shrimp" which I had in York, Nebraska several weeks ago and absolutely loved it there. However, at this location it was nowhere near as good. It came out with no lime sauce/glaze and the chicken itself was simply not very flavorful and kind of dry. I actually had to ask for a side of the lime sauce which my waitress gladly retrieved for me. I thought it was unimaginable that a key component of that dish was somehow overlooked. One upside I suppose is that the restaurant seemed well-maintained, and my waitress was very helpful and friendly. However, I won't be dining at this particular Applebee's ever again.

1 star for being one of the only places to eat out late night on a Sunday in Las Cruces, NM. Some other sit-down alternatives: the well known establishment that serves pancakes under a blue roof or that place that rhymes with "Jennys" or the local Village Inn. Their food was always blah to me. You never want to order Fettucini Alfredo topped with shrimp and have it come to your table cold...yuck. The saucy had a chunky/watery texture...not creamy. On my last visit they got one of our orders wrong (and it wasn't busy) and tried to convince my friend that it was exactly what he ordered. We had to send back a set of dirty appetizer dishes that had caked on cheese. If you come here as a last resort for someplace to hang out other than a bar (on a Sunday after 10:30pm in Las Cruces, NM), I would recommend items that they can't mess up like dessert or a shake or a drink.

I generally dislike these sit down chains, but it WAS the least of the evil choices late last night in Las Cruces. We just got buffalo chicken strips and a chicken Caesar salad to go. The food was hot and decent, but not memorable. The only thing of note was the ridiculous quantity of the dressings (blue cheese and ranch) that came. Each of the containers was probably 20 servings worth. If I wasn't traveling, I would have kept them and had enough salad dressing for months! Three stars for being average for the type of restaurant it claims to be.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
