But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Party of 25 on friday night, they get 5 stars just for getting orders right. The food was good, but parking can be difficult. I ordered mini chimi which were very good.

Hit or miss...I gave this place a three because the last experience was decent (minus the wait and server that seemed annoyed at the fact that I was even alive)...anyway, the food is okay, but I can take or leave it. Same for the chips and salsa. As a matter of fact, I'm actually beginning to wonder if they servers/cooks passive aggressively crush them for funsies. Anyway, I like to get the chili Colorado con papas (not sure if that's the correct menu name) or the Shrimp Del Fuego. Another hit or miss. Sometimes the food is wonderful, sometimes it's so hot I feel like I'm about to start bleeding out of my ears. That said, I bet you're wondering why I'd ever go back. The answer? They have the best margaritas I have ever ever had. Two of them make it a lot easier to forget that everything else (service, food, friendliness) sucks at least 75% of the time. To wrap this up, Tia Juana's has the potential (and sometimes lives up to) being amazing. It just really depends on the day. I just hope management will get it together so I can have great food AND margaritas, not just margaritas to numb the pain.

I guess this place is okay. I was in Hobbs for about 11 hours and needed a place to eat dinner. It was convenient (right near my hotel) so we figured why not. The service was friendly, but the food mediocre. I wasn't terribly impressed with my enchiladas (the sauce was spicy but no discernable flavor), and my fellow diner wasn't terrible impressed with his tacos either. It was pretty pricey for what it was. Next time I'll probably just hit taco bell.

Service was good, which is somewhat shocking for Hobbs. Food however was awful! I order simple chips, queso, and guacamole. The guacamole was alright. Nothing special. The queso was horrible! It tasted worse than ballpark nacho cheese. I barely ate any of it. Very disappointed.

We had a great waitress, and the food was decent. Dead roach in the bathroom.the place has a dirty/greasy feeling to it......definitely another management issue.long wait to eat considering that half the place was empty.

Where to even start... Our FIRST visit to Tia Juana's was okayISH. Got there late and sat in the bar. Service was quick but food mediocre. We finished our meal fast enough because we could tell they were trying to get out of there. I went out to start the car and my boyfriend went to use the bathroom. The manager (I'm assuming) followed me out and was hovering around the vehicle which freaked me out a couple minutes later my boyfriend came out followed by the rest of the staff and then accused us of STEALING money out of their register! We stayed on premises until the watched their security cameras and counted their till to SHOCKINGLY discover that they made a "mistake." We barely got an apology. We went back a couple nights ago, our mistake this time. We sat and waited for a fair amount of time and ordered a margarita and a beer. Our server was rude and made it seem like she was doing us a favor by even being there. We simply ordered 2 beef chimichangas and ended up getting 2 soggy burritos. Waited to be checked on for about 20 minutes so we could let her know our food didn't come out right. Finally she came over and said "well I couldn't find the button for chimichanga so I had to put them in under burrito"..... Ummm. Okay. If it's on the menu it's probably programmed into the computer. After waiting another ridiculous amount of time to speak to a manager we decided to just go elsewhere. I've worked in food service for about 12 years now and am by no means a high maintenance customer, in fact my boyfriend and I are quite the opposite. But these experiences were completely unacceptable. We will not be returning. The one star is because they have good chips and salsa and the bar tender can whip up a solid margarita.

Went in today and took 5 minutes before anyone even noticed my friend and i. The place wasn't even packed. Got me feeling like they didn't want to serve us because I'm asian and my friend is African American. After being seated they didn't even acknowledge us again for 10minutes. We decided to just leave after the horrible customer service. I do not recommend this joint to anyone.

The food here is usually pretty good. The service however isn't. I come here often because my boyfriend likes it. We have never had a friendly waitress. I understand not wanting to be over the top outgoing but a smile never hurt anyone. The thing I hate most about this restaurant is they nickel and dime you to death!! A tiny cup of ranch is $1 but they did not warn me and it is also not on the menu. Any refill after that is also a dollar. My boyfriend substituted a taco for a relleno on a combination plate and was charged $4.75. Adding anything to your plate costs extra. Everything costs extra and we're not talking a few cents or some quarters it's all dollars more!

Food is delicious. Service attentive, friendly and responsive. Had the fish taco. Atmosphere is authentic. Had a large bar with TV for watching games and the dinning has large area for groups.

Tia Juana's turned out to be my favorite place for Mexican food in Hobbs. Maybe it was the margaritas or the tequila shots? Maybe it was the atmosphere & the outdoor seating (when the wind ain't blowin' 500 miles per hour). Many people prefer other Mexican places citing that Juana's is not authentic or whatever. My go-to plate is the chile rellenos. Don't get me wrong, some nights are better... My rellenos have been overcooked at least one time that I remember. Love the rice & refried beans that come with it. The service can be great, then other times it can be wishy washy, but that's Hobbs for you. The chips & salsa were good. I also think the pricing is decent. Wait times were never longer than 10 minutes with my usual crowd of 4, although, this place has a tendency to look absolutely packed most weekend evenings. It took forever to be seated even though the place was half empty, then it took forever for a waitress to come by even though she passed my table four times before greeting me, and now it is taking forever to get my food. I just don't think they really want my business

In town for TEEX training and this place was close to where we were when we got hungry. Pulled in and got seated pretty quickly and then I Yelped it.Not very promising reviews but the deed was done. We ordered the Queso in spite of the terrible review and our first impression was , we've had worse. I wouldn't go there for it but it was palatable. My buddy had the crispy beef tacos and offered no feed back so I figure a "meh". I had the Mesquite grilled chicken sandwich which was surprisingly tasty. The chef did not overcook it as is so often the case in most places and the charring was well done. The chicken was so juicy and done so perfectly, I had to eat the dang thing with a knife and fork.

Not bad.. food wise. I had the chicken chimi. It was tasty but I've had better. I prefer my chimis a lil more on the crispy side. Mine could of been crispier. The beef soup I had was extra tasty. This place has great atmosphere wide open, TV's and awesome drinks!! I'll be back to try something different on the menu though.

I really hate trying to review this restaurant, things were so wrong from the beginning. The service was absolutely horrible, and the food somewhat less than mediocre. We arrived at 5:45 pm and were seated next to a party of twelve. Their beverages had not arrived, we should have left then. We ordered Margarita's, iced teas, and waters. Chips and salsa were brought to the table at 5:55, along with waters and iced teas. Margaritas came out at 6:10. We shouldn't have ordered food, but we were enjoying our own company and that of the twelve seated next to us. Our waiter seemed hugely confused as if it were his first day on the job. We ordered basic simple menus items without substitutions and and more 'Ritas. A member of our table got up, grabbed the iced tea and water pitchers and refilled our tables empty glasses, while our waiter and the manager on duty stood by and watched. At 7:15 our second 'Ritas arrived, and I inquired about our food. The waiter said it would be up shortly. At 7:40 I asked to speak to the manager. A surly little rude dude appeared and informed us that they were very busy and working on it, he then offered to get us more chips and salsa (it was never delivered). Two other tables in my view had arrived after us and were eating (must have been locals). The food started arriving at the party of twelve's table and being sent back as wrong. At 8:10 our dinners arrived, some right some wrong, but complaining or sending them back was out of the question, we were hungry and tired. We asked for our guest checks at 8:30 and were held 'hostage' for another 25 minutes as the waiter and manager stood at the register and tried to figure it out. Out total bill (7 of us) was $250, for which we paid cash and ran out of there, laughing about what had just occurred. Dinner and a show for $250, although it was a poor dinner and a poor show, we couldn't help but laughing about the entire experience. Needless to say we will never again go into any Tia Juana's again. I met one of the people sitting at the table next to us the next morning, their experience paralleled ours almost exactly. They arrived at 5:30 and got out at 9:30. She referred to the manager as an amazing little a**hole.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Hobbs. Try the sour cream green chili enchiladas with sour cream and more green chili sauce on the side. Happy hour margaritas in the afternoon. Great waiter/waitress service. That's where I go to celebrate anything. Prices are decent.

I love the bean and cheese burrito smothered in red sauce! I like Tia Juana's because it actually tastes like Mexican food and not that Tex Mex, gross stuff. The only negative points about this place is sometimes they don't get the orders right, like if I say "no meat in my burrito" they give me meat, or if I say "no veggies" they give me veggies, or if I say "I want a lot of red sauce" they don't give me hardly any.

I ate here for lunch yesterday and we stood at front for almost 10 minutes before being seated. Everyone that kept passing by kept saying I'll be with you in a second. The. When we finally sat down waiter took another 10 minutes to come to our table and then another 10 to bring drinks and another 10 to take our food order. It was ridiculous. When the food came out I was not impressed. I ordered a beef fajita salad and the beef was flavorless and tough. The lettuce looked old. I will say the only good thing we had was the sopapillas. Those were good. Overall not a good experience and 2 hours at a restaurant for lunch is not acceptable especially when the place was half empty already.

Our table of 4 waited a long time to get served a late lunch today. The place was NOT CROWDEd so should've been the tip off. After 2 baskets of chips, having to ask for refills on water and tea, we finally got our food. Chips over salted for sure, salsa ok, queso ok. My chicken fajita taco salad probably the worst I've ever had: burned chicken cut into tiny chunks! Other people had fish tacos served with veggies that were again, burned. I would not recommend this place ... My stomach is already churning.

The food is pretty good, though not a huge selection. Service is decent. It's clean, well kept (fairly new). Cons...closes early, limited selection. Pros...clean, well kept, food is good.

I ate here twice on a recent trip. The first time the service was great, the second was slow. Steak and enchiladas were great. Fajitas were average. My buddy had a burrito and loved it. Charro beans were outstanding.

The saddest part about the experience of Tia Juana's is the inconsistency. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. We do enjoy going on a Saturday evening and sitting on their patio for drinks with friends. The have a fantastic frozen sangria. Their chips and salsa are hit and miss. Sometimes the salsa is so hot it burns my mouth and sometimes it's edible. (Spicy not temperature) The chips appear to be homemade and sometimes they just taste off. But for drinks I would recommend. We had Beccy as a server recently and she was excellent. Kudos to her.

I was in Hobbs for 24 hours and needed somewhere to eat dinner close to the hotel as I didn't have transportation. That narrowed my options to McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chile's, and here. I try to avoid Chile's as much as I can, and this place had a bar so I decided to give it a shot. The faded sign out front had me prepped for a run down interior, but it seemed nice enough. The bar was also a display case of mexican trinkets, I though the two skeletons doing it was a nice touch. Beer, chips , and salsa was served quick. Salsa had a nice kick, and the chips were warm. As I waited for my order to come, I became aware of a couple of vatos ordering drinks and shots at the table behind me. No judging from me though...Makes sense that you would want to get messed up at 6 on a Tuesday if you're in Hobbs. Then I noticed one of them had their 4 year old daughter with them. Yikes. The fajitas came, and they were like that poor girl's prospects....depressing. No flavor in the tiny strips and nubs of chicken and beef. The peppers and onions wilted into sad scraps on the not quite sizzling skillet. If I ever have to come back to Hobbs, I may have to bite the bullet and hit up chili's.

Best local food I've had in this area. The menu is New Mexican fare, not the standard Tex-Mex crap. Everything tasted extremely fresh - even the tortilla chips were obviously made in-house. This place is a definite must-try if you're in the area!

The food is edible but I was disappointed that they don't have a specialty. Even the chile relleno (which usually NEW Mexican restaurants do extemely well) was just ok - I've had way better in AZ and UT. I think since I got to the restaurant kind of late the server was more interested in getting rid of me but she wasn't completely rude and she was pretty hot, so I'll forgive her a little bit. The redeeming part of the night was the Fried Ice Cream, which was very tasty with caramel. At least the place is inexpensive and I was on expense account due to work, so 3 stars is probably about right..,
