I was on a road trip out west and I stopped here with my mom. We got the spicy turkey sandwich and we got donuts, an apple fritter, and the carrot cake. The sandwich, donuts, and apple fritter were incredible and the carrot cake was not the best I've had. Take the time out of your drive to stop here rather than a fast food restaurant. Interesting ambiance and good service.

Thank you YELP for showing us this place! So much better than Subway and traditional "road trip" food. As other reviews said- the outside is a little sketchy- but inside is clean and food is fresh. The 6" was more like a 9" - definitely filling!
(5)Robert P.
We had warmed up sandwiches and the apple fritters. The bread is made there and the donuts are only 60 cents. The food was so delicious and the service is warm and kind

Somewhat rude staff, unclean environment, and not cheap either. The sandwiches are pretty good, but nothing special.

Great sandwiches, soup and salad! Fresh baked bread and pastries...an oasis in the middle of a Route 66 road trip. Sweet ladies behind the counter, too. BF had the pepper turkey and I had the green chile chicken soup with a side of white bread. Delicious home cooking!

The deli sandwiches are awesome. Great place to stop and grab food. Service was fast and friendly. The six inches sandwich is huge and seemed more like nine inches with loads of fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion. Don't forget to grab a donut or apple fritters as they are made fresh daily as is their bread.

I ate here the other day, I had high expectations due to the reviews but the food was very average, I ordered what the most common item on yelp was, the bacon turkey avocado, the six inch was in fact around 10" but the pre cooked bacon was what you expect to get on your Burger King bacon cheeseburger, thin dry and very little taste. The turkey was lacking in my sandwich as well, they used a half decent deli turkey and a small spoon full of avocado beefed up with twice as much mayo, I'm right across the street and will not be visiting again. There apple fritters were very average as well. Hope this helps you eat well!

Great donuts, and a heck of a good sandwich. My wife, Sister in law and mother in law all loved what they ordered. It was suggested we get the season turkey which turned out to be a great decision. It was fantastic and unlike any other slices turkey I have had. The employees were cool and seemed to enjoy their work. Is definitely stop back in while on a road trip through NM.

handmade donuts and bread AND open 24/7?!?! this place is awesome. reasonably priced, best donuts ive had in a while, best sub ive had in a while. even their water tastes better than most other tap water here in gallup. we ate there today and will be eating there tomorrow lol

We stopped here while traveling through Gallup after reading YELP reviews. 2 of us split a 12" Turkey bacon avocado sandwich which was really good with good quality turkey! I eat a lot of sandwiches so I know a decent sandwich! The donuts looked and smelled amazing and I'm sure they tasted amazing too...I would have got one (or 2) if I didn't have dinner plans later on in Durango!
(4)Carol S.
Food good. Service horrible. Staff unfriendly. Place notbthat clean. There are other places to eat in Gallop. I don't know how they got a four and half star rating. Huge disappointment.
(1)Rick M.
Forget the donuts. The 6 inch turkey bacon avocado is 10 inches! That's why Lena is smiling! Share!

Holy Smokes! You are going to be surprised when you stop here for a sandwich. As you're passing it, you are thinking, should we turn around?...YES! You need to grab one! And just like the Sandwich genius says, "it's bread, lettuce, tomato, meat, meat, meat, meat, meat. meat, meat, meat lettuce, dressing, bread." So next time you are rolling by I40 do yourself a favor and make a pit stop for this spot. ( That sounds like it should be their slogan)

Once again, Yelpers showed us the way. En route to Santa Fe, we needed lunch. Gallup isn't exactly a bustling metropolis so it's a little tough to decide where to go. Westend turned out to be perfect. The sandwiches were fabulous and the donuts were outstanding.

If in the area skip the fast food and walk in this little gem. Easy to eat in or get it to go. Great locally owned joint with fresh homemade bread, quality meats and cheeses and donuts that make you want to get fat.

Best place ever!!!!!!! If you're on a road trip I suggest stopping at this place to grab some grub. They're better than Subway and they have donuts. Plus they're open 24/7! :) The address they have on this is wrong everyone but here's the right one. 3030 W Historic Hwy 66, Gallup, NM 87301

We stopped here while driving back to Missouri from a road trip to California. We had sandwiches and doughnuts. I'd rate both as VERY good, but not the best. Service was good and they were accommodating to our group. A refreshing change of pace from of lot of our other quick meals on the road. Certainly worth a stop!

Amazing sandwich! Super nice guys. And killer donuts! Apparently they supply the entire city of Gallup with Donuts! Everything is made from scratch and the flavor is top notch. Kind of runny dinky looking inside but don't let that fool you. These guys know what they're doing.
(5)Brian L.
Easily the best sub sandwich in Gallup. The bread is fresh and the toppings are simple and delicious. Service can be a little slow if it's busy, but the food is well worth the wait.

Well, this place is a phenomenally wonderful relief of the monotony of riding through the Navajo Reservation. We shared a 12" Pepper Turkey, bacon, cheese, avacado, tomato, & lettuce on wheat that was toasted to perfection. My hubby said, "this is the sub I've been waiting on for years!" We hadn't found a replacement for our FL Publix subs until now. Unfortunately, we probably won't come through these parts again. So- if you find yourself here on Hostoric Rt 66, come on in and enjoy wonderful hospitality and amazing sandwiches. The donuts are alright but we're here in the afternoon, so they're not super fresh. Iced tea is fresh brewed and strong. You'll need it to continue through the desert.

Just made another pit stop at westend deli and it is still amazing!! Great donuts and also subs. Stopped for breakfast and got subs to go for lunch on the road. A must stop!!
(5)Alex G.
Great subs and wonderful, friendly staff. Good stop in Gallup!
(5)Marc S.
Best apple fritters in the world, carrot cake to die for and great subs made on fresh baked bread! If you go to Gallup don't miss this place!
(5)Carol W.
We always stop here for donuts on our way through Gallup. I am a bit crazy about a good apple fritter and they have an amazing one. They also make good sandwiches!!
(5)Kenda H.
Found this deli on yelp, I was initially sceptical about reviews. Sandwiches are such an easy thing to make but are so easy to make wrong especially in a small rural town. Sandwiches and donuts, both delicious! Our whole family enjoyed the food. One of the best sandwiches I've had and I loved the whole wheat bread. Definitely worth the stop and extra mile off the highway.

Westend has your usual fair of donuts and pastries, except for the blueberry donuts and buttermilk bars; those are far from usual and if you are inclined, I definitely recommend them. When they have it, I love their banana nut bread. I usually buy several loaves to take home and sometimes freeze to eat later, since they don't always have them. The sub sandwiches are the best in Gallup. As far as sandwiches go, it's more expensive than say, Subway, but it's definitely worth the price. They offer a variety of meats and cheeses (of which I can't list because I favor predictable turkey & swiss), but my husband loves getting some kind of sandwich with 3 meats and 2 cheeses. The best part of the sandwiches is the bun and getting the sandwich toasted.

Westend pleased everybody, all six of us (ages 6-49). It was fresh and tasty. We got ours to go. My family isn't used to off beat places - non chain establishments so when we pulled up I heard some growls. But once on the road and eating I heard several, "this is really good mom!" Easy access off of I40. Next to Red Lion Hotel. We all had a version of turkey and everybody had donuts too-- YUM! Nice stop on our road trip from UT to TX. Thanks yelpers.

The only local place. Period. In Gallup I recommend. Pepper turkey special. By far the best item on the menu.

I'm not sure if this place recently changed ownership or if we just caught them on a bad day, but I'm baffled by the 5-star rating of this place. We recently stopped in for lunch on our way to Flagstaff from Albuquerque after reading all the great Yelp reviews. First off, the prices are ridiculous. Almost $13 for a 12" sub?!?! Ok, at least they're really good, right? Not really. What everyone says on here about the size difference from the 6" to the 12" is accurate. My daughter's 6" was maybe an inch shorter than my footlong. If you're going, save a few bucks and get the smaller sandwich. Anyway, my wife and I each got the pepper turkey everyone raves about. We waited a long time for the sandwiches. I thought the taste was ok. My wife wasn't impressed. Mine had two slices of turkey; hers had one. Too much bread without enough in between. Orders were messed up too. My bread was wrong. My wife's had melted cheese when it shouldn't have had any. My daughter's roast beef had no taste. The owners couldn't have cared less when we tried talking to them. There were flies everywhere....and, oh...$38 for this lunch. One of the first times we shouldn't have trusted Yelp!

A pleasant surprise on our way out of Gallup. The sub sandwiches are delicious as were the donuts. Would definitely return again.
(5)Norma P.
Best deli sandwich we've had in a long time. Each couple shared a 12" peppered turkey sub and it was more than enough. We will definitely stop in agin when staying in Gallup.
(5)Brandi G.
Best donuts in New Mexico and great sandwiches too! Maybe someday there will be a West End Deli on the east side :) Worth the drive!
(5)Brian D.
Unbelievably amazing sandwiches! The donuts and banana bread are also very good. They make their bread (and donuts) from scratch! I had the 3-meat sandwich, and while it seems "pricey" you get more meat than any other place I've seen in recent years! You are literally buying a pound or so of deli meat! YUM! On my next visit, I had the Pepper Turkey - and it was pepper spicy! Add in the NM green chili that everyone puts on stuff, and it's a pretty spicy sandwich. Both of my sandwiches on each visit were toasted, and it was beyond delicious! Westend has now earned a "must stop" status whenever I travel through Gallup. Been there 31 years, looks (and is) a "hole-in-the-wall" and is everything one would expect a great hole-in-the-wall to be! Don't change a thing!
(5)Saga F.
Love those divey small finds with great simple food. Best turkey sand which I have had in a long time with delicious fresh baked bread. Green chili stew was amazing with just the right flavor and big chunks of potatoes! Buttermilk donut was the bomb!
(5)Olivia F.
Went here because all the other highly rated restaurants were closed for some reason on Sundays. The pepper turkey sandwich was absolutely delicious and so was the apple fritter!! The place doesn't look like much but their food is great and cheap. Right off the highway on the westbound side.
(4)Heidi W.
Oh yes. Was looking forward to another stop here. Found it by chance the last time I came down Route 66. It was the only place open late that had food-but the sandwiches and donuts had me come back again! Clean space, plenty of seating, lots of history and charm to look at on the walls while you're waiting the short time it takes to make your sandwich to order. The sandwiches are great! Fresh bread, fresh veggies, good deli cuts. The donuts are yummy. But fresh donuts are always yummy to me. I got a giant maple bar.
(5)Kayla C.
VERY DELICIOUS deli sandwiches and doughnuts. The vegetarian sandwich was amazing. My husband loved his capacol sandwich. Everything is made in house and the owners were very nice! Highly recommend this place and close to I-40.
