Very clean, amazing salsa, pretty hot. The gentleman that helped me was so nice and sweet. I ordered to go and presented chips and salsa on the house while I waited. The salsa was super fresh, chips were thick and decent. The small restaurant had a good welcoming feel. Like going to your friends house.

I had a very disappointing experience at Garcia's. The waitress brought out a very small portion of chips and salsa. The salsa had nice heat but little flavor. I ordered the special of the day, a Chimichanga. She asked me if I wanted it red or green. I asked for it Christmas style. When the food arrived I asked for more salsa and the waitress brought me another tiny serving. The red and green sauces on the Chimichanga were barely noticeable. The cook must have dished them out with a teaspoon. There was no spice evident in the main dish. It was like the kind of Mexican food you might get in North Dakota. When the check came i noticed that they charged me $1.75 for the extra salsa! Who ever heard of such a thing? Not only that, but they also charged $1.75 extra for the red & green sauce. I protested about the charge for extra salsa and the waitress pointed out a small sign on the other side of the restaurant that said they charge $3.50 for each additional serving of chips and salsa so she "only" charged me half. She did offer to let me take the few remaining chips with me and not charge me for a take out container. I won't be coming back.

Recently traveling through New Mexico came across this little gem. It's a small restaurant. Very friendly staff. Ordered Huevos Rancheros. They were delicious with red chile. My partner had Machaca and also raved about the taste. Will definately return when in the area.

The fresh made chile rellenos were delicious and the owner was very kind and thoughtful. We were traveling through Gallup, and she gave us fresh baked apple turnovers for the road.

Heading out of Gallup on Easter Sunday, we decided to stop for our last dose of green chile before crossing into Arizona. As we drove down Route 66, Garcia's was the only place open, and they sure delivered! Can't go wrong with a place that advertises carne adobada and used bicycles for sale! Exclellent green chile smothered chilaquiles and carne adobada. They even made sopapillas for us despite it being so early. Definitely worth the stop.

We stop here whenever we pass through on our way to palm desert. We tried this place just passing through a few years ago and it is on our list of our favorite paces to stop. The green and red salsa are excellent. Every time we go it seems the burritos are bigger than the last. The owner is the chef and he takes a lot of pride in what he does. The restaurant is very clean and the wait staff treat you like royalty even remembering what we ordered the previous year. Pretty remarkable! It is safe to order anything in this restaurant. It is all excellent. The restaurant is an old drive-in but do not judge the place by how it looks. It is excellent!

Garcias doesn't look like much but don't let that put you off. The owner is very friendly and the food is fantastic. It's a hidden gem.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
