Avoid!!! No decent beers on tap in this 'pub'. The waitress had no clue as what they have. We had one beer and left after looking at the menu...very expensive Steak & enchiladas for $22 bucks ?!?!? The manager rudely told his he would serve us two beers. We also asked him what the special was. His answer: you don't want to know ?!?!?

walked into this restaurant at 9pm and was told they were closed. Their sign says 10pm and Yelp says 9:30pm. I said as much and the boy looked at me and asked what time it was. I wouldn't go to this place if it was the only restaurant on earth, obviously they don't want to make any money and I wouldn't give it to them.

First time at Coal Street Pub and have to say - I loved it. I ordered the Greek Salad (without the chicken) because Greeks don't put chicken in their Greek salads. I asked if they had purple onions and the waitress didn't know what a purple onion was but decided to give me red onions. I guess here it's considered red and in LA it's considered purple. Why fight it? I received my purple/red onions. I did search the stack for my feta cheese then realized it was mixed in with the salad dressing. Such tiny morsels. Still a good salad. Ventured over to the wine section and ordered a glass of their house Cabernet Sauvignon. I was impressed. Lively with a hint of wood and medium-bodied - just the way I love it. My new 2nd favorite place in GLP.

The beer selection was decent and regional. The food was pretty bland and left much to be desired. But, since it's the only place in town open on a Sunday, beggars can't be choosers. If possible, wait for Albuquerque or Flagstaff.

Nachos are a must have! Cold beer and great staff. My favorite bar in Gallup.

The atmosphere is a little loud & excessive. The food however is great. Any restaurant in Gallup featuring a Monte Cristo would be a testament to their diversity.

The owner never kept his word on refunding part of our bill bad shady spot. Unprofessional horrible food horrible service just a bad place that serves recycled corn chips with other peoples condiments still on them! And they charged us $7.25 for chips and salsa! I almost forgot the chicken enchilada dinner with red meat? Somebody needs to call the health department ridiculous.

While spending the night in Gallup NM, we stopped for dinner before heading to our hotel. The decor inside was like something from a 50's diner with some cool old time memorabilia. Such as old tin signs for drinks...food...as well as gas and joke signs There are also some old artifacts hanging on the walls. The service was impeccable as our waitress was ensuring our satisfaction at every turn or whim. The food quickly was served and was absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed the steak burrito but asked for my green chili sauce on the side. The sauce was very flavorful with a bit of a kick. If you are sensitive to heat I would definitely have it on the side. My husband and son had the fish and chips. The fish was cooked crisp while maintaining the flaliness of the Cod. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting or living in this quaint town.

Great atmosphere, friendly employees, and eclectic decor-5 percent off if you pay cash! We enjoyed our meal.

I've been here twice now and I'm not impressed by any means, first had the chicken Alfredo and the chicken came out very chewy, it was obviously microwaved. The Alfred sauce wasn't terrible, however it was bland and to runny. The secound time I went I had nachos and onion rings ( cheat day) and it all was very sub standard. I wouldn't recommend visiting this establishment.

When I lived in Gallup, they had trivia every Tuesday, and the trivia was so popular that it basically ran the other pub trivia in town out of business. It was quality in that it was challenging in a way that trivia should be. The prize was coupons to spend at Cole Street, so you can give them to a local if you're just passing through. As a vegetarian, they had a few possible options, but I'd generally default to the veggie burger, which you can swap in for any burger option on the menu. They also have a pretty large salads menu from which you can ask the meat to be removed. Many of the appetizers are also vegetarian, though for the most part heavily fried. The beer options presented in the menu are generally inaccurate, so you just want to ask what they have on tap. I was never a fan of their porter (pretty weak), and they only sometimes had cider on tap, so our group was often left to compromise on our beers. This is a good place for and frequented by passers-through as well as locals. For Gallup, it's open very late: all the way to 10:00 p.m.! Again, relative to Gallup, the cuisine is unique, the service is good and the hours are generous. No outdoor seating means no dogs.

Quaint location with a retro-antique environment. Food was great (you have to try the brisket burger) and the prices very fair. Staff was friendly and anxious to make this a nice experience. We will return!

Stopped in here on our road trip into new Mexico what a fantastic find after 8 hours on the road!!!! Great retro atmosphere, friendly staff and great food The Monty Cristo sandwich is awesome as to are the green chili fries and jalapeño poppers and the ONLY non major food chain restaurant open on a Sunday night in Gallup

We stopped for the night in Gallup while on our road trip and this was the perfect place to eat. Arriving on a Sunday, many of the local restaurants are closed, and while half of our party loves Mexican food, the other half doesn't really care for it. So finding a place that was not only open Sunday nights but had a wide variety of different menu items was wonderful. The restaurant has great decor with lots of old road signs, vinyl album sleeves, wild west posters, etc on the walls. Their menu shows that they also do a lot of great specials depending on the day of the week, including live music, and Sunday's special, $3 beers. This applied for any of the 50+ beers they serve! As for the food, everyone couldn't be happier with their choices. The enchiladas were done perfectly and were quite spicy, and the French fries had a seasoning that no one at the table could resist. The wait staff was very attentive, suggesting types of beers to try, bringing water to go along with our spicy dishes, and promptly clearing our empty plates. For great menu variety, beer selection, and atmosphere, you really can't find a better place.

So pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here. I was visiting a few weeks ago and got a chicken sandwich and mashed potatoes and they were so good and such a big portion. I think this place may be a little overpriced given the demographics of the area but I was impressed anyway. The girls working there were really sweet to us but it is a little annoying that they gossiped around the bar and around the hosts table and openly cursed. So maybe just don't sit by those areas.

After a long drive from Sedona, this place hit the spot. Great service, great food and a live band. We recommend this place for a stop along the way.
(5)Kimberly E.
This was a great place to stop on our travels ! From hospitality, service and food it was all IMPRESSIVE ! If we ever come back through Gallup, NM we will definitely stop by !
(4)Pepper P.
Service is distracted, I do my best not to eat here.. Worst green chile EVER. Everything else meh. BUT there is a good beer selection, (for Gallup) a nice vibe and its a fine place to meet with friends. Safe. Clean. Do NOT get the crab boil. You have been warned.
(3)Josh K.
Loads of fun on Tuesday night for trivia. Waitresses are kind. Beer selection is good. One of the better bars in Gallup for sure.
(4)Tiffany C.
We passed through late at night on a break from a cross-country road trip. It was the only place open on a Friday evening (not surprising in a small town). I ordered the grilled veggie salad and a friend ordered the mushroom burger (I think). Everything was delicious...or was it just that we were hungry and had been consuming fast food for the couple days prior? Either way, the decor was fascinating; you could visit several times and still not see all of the hodge podge decorations.

Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Beer tasting and wings special was perfect. We have stopped here on way to Phoenix several times before. Never disappointed.
(4)Todd C.
We stopped in for dessert and a hot beverage during ArtsCrawl; we had decided on cheesecake until the server's opening remark was, "steer clear of the cheesecake, it's frozen!" Rolling with the punch, I ordered an ice cream sundae with caramel sauce; to which she replied, "we're out of caramel. No herbal tea either! This might be the final blow for s spot known more it's ambiance than its menu!

I hold Mexican food to very high standards, (even though I don't speak Spanish) and this place is good. I was disappointed that it was one of the few places open on a Sunday, but I guess that's how small cities are. However, the quesadilla was solid, the guacamole could have been better-I judge in comparison to California. The veggie salad was delicious, with perfectly cooked and seasoned veggies, and they even gave my mom grilled chicken for the salad at no extra charge. Be prepared to relax, as service is mellow, but it worked because we had NOTHING else to do for the night, and everyone was friendly. Overall a good choice for a grueling road trip.

Beth had a blackened shrimp salad that was pretty good. I had a bowl of green chile stew containing potatoes, tomatoes, ground beef, chiles, and spices. I really liked it. It had just the right amount of spice so it built up over the meal. Oh, and I had a beer that the forgetful waitress neglected to charge us for. I'd give them an A- for food and a C+ for service. Four stars may be generous but they were open on July 4, so that's worth bonus points.

Great service, nice menu. It was a nice way to get a quick feel of Gallup while traveling through on our road trip.
(5)Alexia K.
My husband and I had dinner while traveling cross country here. It was pretty much the only thing open on Sunday night and the $2 beer special convinced us that it was worth a try. The service was friendly and attentive, the decor interesting and comfortable and the draft beers hit the spot. The food was okay. My husband's chicken sandwich with bacon was tasty and tender. my Greek salad was acceptable but not exciting, the veggies were fresh and the salad wasn't iceberg, always a plus, but they used thigh meat for the chicken and for it could have been bigger for $9.00. The green chile soup was bland, lukewarm and tasted of canned chile sauce and cheap hamburger meat. It did the trick for the night but I'd stick to the beer if we return.

Excellent burgers, really great brews on tap and in bottles, the staff was really friendly and very attentive. Wasn't a very busy night, but the whole crew immediately made us feel like old friends even though we were just stopping through town on a road trip. Server and bartender suggestions were spot-on, and if I ever find myself near Gallup again, I will definitely stop in at least to say hello and have a pint.

Great specials...something different every night!

Loved the place. Decor is great. Salads were fresh and a decent beer selection.

.... I often wondered what it really meant with someone would say, "... Karma's a bitch" and now I know what that really means. Literally. The food was WHORRIBLE. The service was "dog poop." The quote-unquote entertainment....(?) would be considered Guantanamo Bay Torture.... with the screaming.... Believe you me... this place isn't all that in a bag of chips. It's actually a bag of dog poop. I'm never-ever going again.

If you happen to be in Gallup, it's a cute little place to go. The food is mediocre but edible. They have a great beer selection.
(3)Shane V.
The food is dreadful, the service has in the past been very good. The beer selection is rather decent, the atmosphere is lacking but they try at the least. The live music is usually good. Over all I don't frequent this establishment because they don't have hard liquor, and personally don't care to waste my time with beer that often. This isn't to say I drink all that much, maybe once every three months. Lots of the people who hang out there are pretty nice.

A little hole in the wall in downtown Gallup that has become my favorite watering hole. The food is decent, and they even mix up their menu on weekends with crab boils, oysters, and other improvisations that come up from time to time. This spot is actually the best spot in town to feature Gallup's local music scene, as they have music Thursday through Saturday night every week featuring a local band. The alcohol selection is however limited to beer with some premade cocktails if that is your thing, but they really shine with microbrew selections. They have Stone, and Ska breweries represented in bottle form but I come here for the Deschutes Brewery on tap.

Stopped on our way thru to Cali. Modest dinner crowd, fun live music, beer (lava lamp and coal street lemonade) hit the spot. Good atmosphere, server was friendly but slow. We waited forever for our check! Food was decent. Would probably come back but only if we weren't in a hurry.

Cool place. A must if in Gallup

We wanted to hit up Genaro's a little distance away but they were closed for some reason. I decided on an open faced burger smothered in green chile. Boy was I disappointed! The burger came out with no chile on it, it was a plain cheese burger with absolutely nothing on it. She took it back and quite a while later brought it back. The chile wasn't spicy at all. It took them 15 minutes to get me water. And at the end of it all they came and cleared our plates, asked if we wanted anything else to which we replied no, and took another 20 minutes to bring our check. My father in law insisted on leaving a $5 so as not to stiff the waitress but I would have left nothing. I was beyond disappointed in the "local" favorite.

Alright, you're in Gallup.... not a lot of options. So if you compare this to California, you're gonna be disappointed. But for Gallup standards, it's one of the better options in town. Good beer, I had a lava lamp (heffervisin bottom, Murphy's top). A good combo. My husband liked his southwestern ruben and my salmon salad was fresh and tasty. Our waittress was attentive and friendly. On a sunday night and there was a good crew (but not too crowded) watching the games. A good find and we will probably be stopping again.
(4)Vilma C.
Green chili stew was one of best I have had including my own! Tortilla burger & sweet potato fries were perfect and service was excellent. Only place op nob Sunday evening and food was great! Had Marble beer - a local NM beer.
(5)Amy S.
So glad we stopped here on our journey! Excellent cubano and chicken club sandwiches and an enormous Greek salad. Friendly service and cool local stuff on the walls

Authentic. A bar you would expect to see when you come to the old west. Under maned but it's a small town.
