Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Well, I have to say this: nice atmosphere, friendly employees. From there, though, our experience wasn't the best. They were out of hush puppies and apple pie. I ordered coffee, but never got it. The pancakes had kind of an odd garlic taste to them. Otherwise, the food was pretty good.

Ah-mazing! We found this place by accident after trying unsuccessfully to get a table at both Denny's and Village Inn in Albuquerque-Sunday morning and the wait was too long. SOOO glad we ran across this place. Everything here is homemade. The kids enjoyed burgers, my daughter noting the bacon on her burger was not see-through bacon but nice thick real bacon. My husband enjoyed two green beef enchiladas with eggs and hash browns. My homemade red chili was full of fresh chile flavor and the fresh tortilla was nice and fluffy. If and when we pass this way again we will definitely stop here. Oh, and the staff really make you feel welcomed. Five chili peppers!!!!!

Wow. I really liked the Chili Hills Restaurant! - It has a small town, family-friendly, non-franchise ambiance. - My green chile cheese burger was amazing. - The green chile and cheese on my potatoes (they called them "papitas") was a nice New Mexico touch. - They have booths, which I like. - Attentive waiter. I'll be back for sure. :)

Our Bandito platters were well presented, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! We pulled into the empty parking lot at about 8:20PM (they close at 8:30) so we were concerned that these folks were in a hurry to get home, however the whole time we were repeatedly assured that it was fine and we should take our time to enjoy our meal. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. After dinner, the owner (Debby) came to our table to talk. She said we weren't just customers... we were guests, the same as if we were guests in her home. She suggested some of their homemade pie but we were to stuffed! Instead, she gave us two slices of her chocolate cream pie as samples to take home... for free! It doesn't get any better than that!

Such great people here! Always friendly and on top of what you need. Everything we have had on the menu has been fantastic. From regular breakfast faire to excellent New Mexican dinner options. Their classic chicken fried steak is even fantastic. We have also enjoyed the carne adovada, enchiladas, pancakes, Burrito, Green chili cheeseburger, Western bacon cheeseburger, coconut cream pie, banana cream pie, peach pie, French toast... Three meals in three days! Everything you could ask for in a small town restaurant.

I stopped in with two friends during my first trip to Edgewood, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Chili Hills. The food was tasty, the prices were reasonable, and the service was friendly and welcoming. FOOD Think diner, but with some Mexican specialties and other items popular in New Mexico cuisine -- like chilis (hence the name!) The menu is large and covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. My party went for breakfast specifically. My table of three shared chips and salsa to start. The salsa is excellent and fresh. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs, hash browns, biscuit, and a side of bacon. I enjoyed every bite -- especially since the chef was able to accommodate a special request I had. The others at my table ordered a made-to-order omelette and a smothered breakfast burrito. Both enjoyed their meals. I would love to return to try their lunch and dinner offerings. (The Frito Pie on the menu sounds delicious!) SERVICE Our server, Gloria, was delightful. She was quick to refill beverages and checked in several times to see if we needed anything. The owner, Debbie, made a point to stop by our table as well. She is as sweet as can be. The chef, Tyson, also said hello and made sure we were pleased with our food. I discovered that he had worked previously at a luxury resort in Las Vegas; his passion for cooking seems to be making its way into Chili Hills' food. NUTSHELL I can see why Chili Hills is a hit with locals -- and with this out-of-towner. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in Edgewood. Frito Pie, I'm looking at you!

Still just as good. Ate there last month when were back in town. Love the breakfast huevos rancheros Christmas style (green and red chile). Gloria is still working there - such a nice lady. We had three families combined, lots of kids, and everyone wanting an extra this or more of that. Gloria handled it all with a smile.

OMG!! Best fried zucchini I have ever had! It's thick wedges too. Not thin floppy little discs. It's awesome!

The food here was average. The coffee was too watery. The server was nice. Price wise it was too high for a Mexican place. I'll give them another chance hopefully I can give them a better review.

Best damn Chili Relleno I ever had, wife wouldn't stop eating mine. Salsa is really flavorful and enchilada's are very good. Beans are great too. We'll be back.

Wonderful breakfast! Huevos Racheros. I asked for no beans and extra green chili sauce. Wow! Best breakfast I've had in years. Next door to a motel 6 and not terribly beautiful from outside. But really nice inside including nice artwork. But the reason to come here is the great food. Nice staff and nice clientele. Some regulars were truckers. If they do the same route they find these gems. It's across from a TA Truckstop

Been eating at both locations for years. I have never had better juevos rancheros. The service is always great, and if you aren't specifically in the mood for New Mexican food they have a great selection of other home style foods.

Stick with the Mexican cuisine, and avoid the mashed potatoes at all cost...! Seems to be hit or miss for us, one time great the next not so much.

This place does not serve the worst food I have ever tasted, but it does come close unfortunately. I actually used to come here fairly often for the tacos which were at one point really good, however things have changed and I don't really enjoy any of the food here any longer. The East Mountain Grill is 5 minutes north, and their food is much better.

We can decribe the food best as non poisoness and plenty of it or as great american food. Exellent service good sweet tea and nice folks. I go to the area around once every three years and have always enjoyed eating there for breakfast and lunch. Oh if you are there on friday they do an all youcan eat catfish that cant be beat

I finally ate here after months of my fiance telling me how it was the best food she's ever eaten. Now after going here, I'm questioning her taste buds. I'm pretty sure I ordered enchiladas, which I didn't finish. The rice that came with was very dry and I couldn't swallow the beans. Everyone I've met tells me to try the green and red chili so I ordered both to sample. I wasn't a fan of either. Perhaps I need to try this place again and figure out why everyone is raving over it.

This place is disgusting, shouldn't be called Chili Hills, should be considered a HOSPITAL CAFETERIA. These reviews were way off. Please do not get the hamburger, taste like rubber, and mush, just TOO WEIRD. Also the water is horrific, and I am not sure the back of the building looks to pleasant from tourist standpoints. Please avoid and avoid the Pizza place adjacent. Any criticism like this should come with solutions, first solution fire the cook, second solution change the recipes.

Really disappointing after reading the yelp reviews. It's like they found some magical way to make a chili sauce even blander than their ridiculously bland tacos, burritos, etc. More exciting Mexican food can be found frozen in a box. Two stars for big portions and sweet servers.

Went to Chilli Hills II in Moriarty after the parade on 7/4. They had flies all over the place. There was one inexperienced waitress. It was quiet for about 5 minutes after we arrived. There was no service to our table for at least 15 minutes. When the waitress finally came and took our order, we received our drinks. We placed our order, then a rush of people came in and we were basically forgotten. The owner, Carl, had to get the dishwasher to finally come and help because the place was full. I could understand the lack of management or poor service for a hole in the wall cafe, but not for a restaurant that charges $8.00 on average, for breakfast! My husband's toast finally came, when he was finished with his meal, and only after asking for it for 1/2 hour. Our drinks were not refilled. For a family of 4 it cost $40.00. Not a very good way to start off the 4th. Don't bother with this restaurant. flies everywhere, poor service, and management that just doesn't care. Not worth the price at all. Cheap prices? Me thinks NOT.

They have a cool deal at Chili Hills, for every $5 you spend you get $1 "chili bucks" towards your next meal. They have cheep prices anyways! It's a great local joint. I like their vegetarian omelet for breakfast and they have an amazingly awesome homemade chicken pot pie. Unlimited. Selections of homemade giant slices of pies! Great fresh smoked brisket ect. Oh they have a great waitstaff that is always friendly and keep your drinks full. If your in the area check it out for sure.

Nice local restaurant off the major highway. Now the reason for the 5 stars, I had absolutely the best ribs I ever had and I am a rib connoisseur! My wife has queseda and she thought it was excellent for a quesedia. Considering there are almost no other options in this tiny little local restaurant, the food was outstanding.!
