I love this place very chill and relaxed place. The bar is in the middle of no where. Drinks are affordable from what i remember. This place is awesome!

Great place, and just like the other reviews say, it's just what the doctor ordered when you're driving through middle-of-nowhere, NM on your way to milder climes. COLD BEER is just outside of Cimarron, and so is the Philmont Scout Ranch, which is where we were headed both times we went down that way. Both times, a stop at COLD BEER was a must. The place is a bit small, but there is a huge outdoor area in back with a stage and everything. I've never seen live music but it looks like the place to be come summer time. Alas, both my excursions took place in the spring. Oh well. Great beers on tap and terrific pizza. We went there for "rib night" but they were out of ribs by 7:00! Bummer! They must be good, because there was just one table open when we got there, right by the door. We had sandwiches instead, which were pretty good. Not as good as the pizza, though. They have one called "The Kitchen Sink" or something like that - seriously loaded up with everything but. I highly recommend a stop at COLD BEER when visiting northen NM. It's worht a side trip for sure!

Coldbeer was the destination that kept me sane living in Cimarron. Roger, the proprietor is a great guy with a friendly demeanor and great stories. You can expect a full bar, and some decent beers on tap. Cold mugs and some good snack food. Coldbeer makes the best pizza in the county. The only pizza that comes close literally within 100 miles is Outback Pizza in Taos. Expect live music some nights during the summer season and trivia nights as well. These events are always fun and bring out some of the locals from Cimarron and surrounding areas. I've never seen the stars quite so well as I could in New Mexico and Coldbeer's giant back porch offers a great place to partake in such a practice with good people, good beer, and potentially great music.

Post office box-wise, it's in Cimarron, but that is not really that true, because in the middle of nowhere, off of Highway 64 East, where one side is like a panorama of a Western with possibly John Wayne and some fake Indians sidled up against these rock formations as their hideout, is this one building tavern with a dust field outback. As you drive either east or west, it plainly declares in whitewash paint, in the biggest, effing point size ever--say 500, "COLD BEER." It's pretty to the point and that is the beauty of New Mexico. You know why? Because just up the way, is the NRA Whittington Center nrawc.org . I figured Ted Nugent would show up any moment as I phooned it irreverently; 2nd amendment or none. When a certain yelper's mom and I eyed it, as it was almost 90 degrees at the time, there were more than 10 Harley bikes out front and a lot of commotion going on that said pretty much all of them in there would be stumbling drunk and one away from becoming a raging bull on two wheels. So I thought better of it going east. But after seeing the extinct volcano in the middle of nowhere and Oklahoma in the distant horizon like I was some confused, tarnated Santa Fe settler, a COLD BEER was all we dreamed of. Because surely, Oklahoma would preach me out of it. So driving west now we eyed it again and the Jedi force of a COLD BEER seemed like the best damn idea since they invented this damn hybrid I was driving. Harley men gone check, dog out front, check. Alright, it's on. So we go in and a bunch of college dorks are leaving and two Canadians are finishing up their pizza to go. Bartender looks like he might have been a cross between a professor of lit this life and a cowboy in a past life. He cracks a smile. I see in the side fridge, "Sasaparilla." Ooh, that looks good. That definitely is a COLD BEER for the designated driver. On bottle was some Blue Moon and tap also had Stella. Nice. Bartender, my friend's mom, and I get to talkin. He is so agreeable, we stay and there is one on the house for my friend's mom. I see a love connection. Good guy. Did live in SF for a bit, but came back out to his roots and bought this tavern from another guy and it's been his for more than 10 years or so. We stayed long enough to meet his one-eyed dog, a sweetie for sure and shoot the shit with Mr. Awesome Bartender Man. Sometimes, being in the middle of here and there is not so random after all. The friendliest places usually are the most random. So get yourself a cold beer and a concert schedule. The bartender keeps it real in Cold Beer, New Mexico.
