Food was good for a buffet but the service wasn't great. Told The server three different times coke no ice and all three time she got it wrong. Just like any buffet, some things are great and some not so much. For the price it's a great alternative to not making dinner

This was really good, especially for what they charge. And there is enough variety that you are bound to find something you like. I definitely recommend. It also looks like they add new things periodically. Like tonight the chicken meatballs.

This is my preferred stop for Chinese food in Carlsbad. I like the interior, I like the price, I like the service (most of the time), and the food is very good. We've been going here quite a bit throughout the years, and I enjoy it. Sometimes, you have to be a little proactive about catching the servers' attentions, but often, that's during busy times. Most of the time, however, it's easy to catch their eyes to get refills, or whatever. They offer a few American food choices for those who are in your party who don't like standard Chinese-American fare.

Price is affordable , service is good, we arrived around 2:45 pm, and lots of people inside and people keep coming. Fruit section is below average, hot food is good, dessert is only ok, soup is good, ice cream is solid, three different kind of shrimps, plenty of varieties, TV for sports. Plenty parking, I will repeat for sure.

This place was awful!!! The food was cold and all the chicken dishes I tried were overcooked! I checked the reviews before we went and expected some decent food and was extremely disappointed. If this is the best Chinese food in town, then I would avoid Chinese food entirely!

Food was ok. Egg drop soup was colored deep orange....never seen that before. There was also some strange ingredient in there that was also strange. They also colored other food yellow or orange. The banana pudding had a strange texture and was brown. We gave it a try but would not come back. Food may be fine for others but not for us.

It's what you expect from a Chinese buffet restaurant. They have some items tailored to the area, such as an extra spicy chicken dish, buttered potatoes, and pizza for the kids. Okay...I've had the pizza and I'm NOT a kid. Service is okay. Sometimes it takes a while to get a beverage refill. The price is competitive with other buffet restaurants. I'll come back again.

This three stars is for Chinese food in Carlsbad, NM. Dragon China is fairly new to Carlsbad and because of this they are open 7 days a week until 10:00 pm. Yes, you read correctly...10 pm AND with beer service. And it is all you can eat for $8.50. We were all starving after a day of caving and figured we would have lots of options on Valentine's Day. I was told by our front desk clerk that most places were closed so they could celebrate the special day. WHAT!!!??? I thought restaurants stayed open for that occasion. We walked into the old Golden Corral and before us were six 8 foot long double sided buffet carts with everything Chinese under the sun. It is American Chinese as pizza and spaghetti were some of the offerings; there were enough choices for any discerning taste bud. Some of the dishes were quite good and most were satisfying food after a long day of trail mix. Service is quick and for the most part everything was clean. So for Carlsbad, three stars. Now for my editorial comment. There was enough food at the buffet to feed the whole town of Carlsbad. I figure what does not get eaten gets put out the next day (some of the fruit looked a little brown). I think I will let the Carlsbad health department deal with this issue if it becomes one but if you are a bit squeamish about buffets, order off the menu.

Friendly service, nice selection, good food. Best egg drop soup in town, just your classic without any unnecessary frills. My recent favorite has to be the Asian dumplings. The takeout menu is extensive and made to order. And it is all very reasonably priced. All in all a good place to eat.

It is what it is. Cheap (~$8.85, I believe).

(Let's see if writing more reviews will get me out of filter purgatory!) This is an adequate place, with decent service. Pros: fairly big selection of adequate Chinese-American food. There were few surprises. Some of it was rather tasty (sauteed mushrooms, mongolian beef, "butter chicken" (a deep fried thing). The service was reasonably pleasant and kept the soda full and the dirty plates off the table. Cons: some of the adequate food could have been held at warm temperatures longer ("salt and pepper shrimp" gone cold is kinda nast.). The American goodies were worse than the already low quality I expect at a Chinese buffet (the wings of all things!). There was a distinct lack of cooked vegetable dishes on my visits. The other buffet (Golden something, maybe?), was much better at that.

Food: The food was pretty average for a Chinese buffet. They had all the typical foods that a Chinese buffet would have as well as some specialities. The only thing I wouldn't try are the desserts. They all tasted absolutely disgusting. 3/5. Service: The service was good. Refilled drinks as needed and gave us our bill when we were done. Couldn't ask for more. 5/5. Environment: The environment is similar to any other Chinese buffet you would go to. 5/5. Overall: For Chinese buffets, ratings rely heavily on the food since that's what differentiates them the most. The food was okay quality mostly because of the dessert. Therefore, they deserve only a 3/5.

Mom is so happy to discover they have sushi. She ate two plates while I had my usual soup and noodles combo. So good.

Probably the best Chinese buffet I've ever had. The food quality is exceptional and the serving areas are very clean and reenacted frequently. There is a wonderful selection of food...all very tasty. Unlike so many buffets the food is very high quality and there are many selections of protein, not just the usual carbs. Be sure to try the malasadas!

We got here about 5pm after a trip to the Caverns. The food was plentiful and good, and though the sushi was simple and only had fake crab in it, it was available. They had plenty of fresh vegetables and savory meat dishes and the service was good. Our group ate for under $10 each. I'd definitely go here again.

We were impressed with the variety and quality of the food at this buffet. Almost everything we tried was delicious and perfectly prepared. We stopped here on our way through town after reading the reviews and were glad we did. For $10 per person we were very satisfied. It was busy but we were seated immediately, drinks were quickly delivered, fresh food was brought out as soon as a tray was almost empty, every dish tasted freshly prepared, empty plates were cleared fast, and the Bill was brought when we started dessert. A great Chinese buffet!

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Chinese food and rarely ever do buffets. We were hungry and looked on Yelp for some Chinese food only to find there were only two locations opened on a Saturday night. All I can say is - I should of just had the salad bar and the steamed rice were good. We read the egg drop soup was something to be tried but ... really? It just looked different but had no taste. Even a little white pepper would of helped.

This is the only game in town Sunday and Monday for Chinese food (the other Chinese food vendor open has a written sign in front covering the Chinese food sign that says "best Mexican food in town," so why go there?) We actually ordered from the menu to go, not from the buffet. It was good Chinese, too! We had the roasted pork lo mein, broccoli in garlic sauce, mixed veggies, and of course, steamed rice. The roasted pork is actually Chinese bbq pork (the red marinade kind) and tasty. The veggies were cooked and still crispy & not overly soggy. The broccoli order had other veggies in it, not just broccoli. The orders were very large which meant for leftovers. Didn't have to wait too long after ordering from the cashier. No complaints here!

It was not the best food and not the worst Chinese buffet I have eaten. Food was cold. The waiter and waitresses stood behind us, I mean right behind us, ok on top of us and talked to each other almost the whole time we ate. I pulled out my phone to get a pic of them and they walked away. May be cheaper than going to China but at least the food on the plane would have been hot.

After all the bad, trashy buffets we have tried at home in Los Angeles, this is actually a good, trashy buffet. It hits a home run on every single point: delicious fried food, great noodles, great soups, delicious veggie eggrolls, vegetarian selections (minimal but enough none the less, including the tastey veggie egg foo young). Every single item tasted good (even the fries) and the waitresses were polite and very attentive: our sodas were always filled and our finished plates always removed. This was a treat overall and we may return tomorrow for lunch before leaving.

Decent Chinese buffet. The food was plentiful and tasted fine for the most part. Price was right. My favorite items were the chicken and broccoli, the steamed white rice, the fried chicken, and the oranges and cucumbers at the salad bar.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
