So, to get a Which Wich? sandwich, you start with a bag and a permanent marker. On your bag, you select the type of sandwich, what fixings and condiments you want on it, and then you bring the bag to a cashier who tries to entice you into adding things like chips, cookies, drinks, and the like. Wait a while, and you'll be delivered your built-to-suit sandwich in said bag, and with a smile. I had a caprese sandwich, which is pretty impossible to make stand out, but somehow Which Wich? pulled it off - it was the perfect blend of flavors and made for a really scrumptious caprese sandwich. I only wish I had found it earlier in my week! I just learned in the process of writing this review that there is a Which Wich? shop within 35 miles of my house. Now I just need to find reasons to end up in Santa Ana (or further down the coast in San Diego). Heck yeah!

LOVE love love! If you do not like a sandwich here it's your own dang fault...why? because YOU design it. Ok ok it's been done by subway and other sub places but the flavors and types of sandwichs are waaaaaay better. You get to mix match and pick all the things on your food PLUS you get to write it on a cool "wrapper" thing (it's hard to explain). Get the home made chips they are awesome!

This is my go-to spot for sandwiches. The staff is efficient even when it's crawling with people, and the food is consistent. It is very busy at lunch time, but the outdoor seating allows for more people. They keep adding new things to the menu, and it is fun to see them evolving and expanding their business. I've never had a bad experience. If want a good meal for the price, this is a great place to go.

Which Wich is one of those places were your meal is either going to be awful or delicious since you are in charge of picking every topping, meats, bread, and condiments. For this place being a chain its pretty good if you plan on going for lunch you might want to call ahead since this place tends to get packed.

SOOOO MAAAAANNNY CHOICES!!!! Whatever kind of sandwich you like Which Wich can oblige. You go in, check out the menu, mark what you want on the bag of choices. Once you pay you just sit back and wait for them to bring it to you. However, I learned today that some of the staff don't take kindly to calling out "Mr. Narwhal" and "Mr. Splashy Pants" as the names you put on the bag. They usually get a laugh out of it though. Not the girl today! HAHA.

My fiance and I love Which Wich. I took him here when we first started dating and every time we're in the UNM area, it's his first pick for food. He always orders too much just so he can have it the day after as well. This place does everything right and makes you appreciate having such a great little place to eat right by campus, though while I'm trying to get a wedding figure it's sure a problem. (: Thanks Which Wich for beign so awesome!

We've been to this location twice now and their food and service are consistently great. Lots of variety, basically something for everyone. I had the small Buffalo Chicken today. I chose the wheat bread and made it a skinny (they hollow out the inside of the bread to reduce the calories.) The Buffalo sauce was just spicy/tangy enough to give it a good little kick. My daughter had the medium Elvis (peanut butter, banana and bacon). She really liked it, but that's also to say she's a fan of all 3 ingredients. Oh, just a note on sandwich size. Unless you're starving or a big eater, the small is quite enough food. I wouldn't have been able to eat half of the medium. This location is clean and the staff is always friendly. Nice little outdoor patio too.

Great food, great prices, very friendly service. I'd like to especially call out the waitress Amanda. While my wife was carrying our baby to the bathroom, Amanda went and got her the door key before we even knew we needed one. I know it's not a major thing but being that attentive and caring means a lot! Would eat here again.

I'm not sure I can write a review that does this place justice. For starters, I walked in completely unassuming, having no idea what I was in for. I checked out the menu and searched for a bag (separated by sandwich genre) that looked appetizing. The man at the register, Matt, was fabulous and very helpful. He showed me how to select my sandwich, size, bread, toppings and sauces and gave me the thumbs up on all my choices. I chose a 10.5 inch Grinder (go big or go home) with provolone, black olives, mushrooms, olive salad, oregano, garlic and oil. It was amazing. The bread was crusty and toasted and the cheese was melty! The "olive salad", which is pretty much your standard tapenade, was a perfect addition and very flavorful. Their check-in offer is a free fountain drink; that's always a nice bonus. I will totally return! This place is fast, super friendly, really tasty and a great value for the money!

As someone who has grown up with subway and quiznos' being the only sandwich places for a quick & healthy lunch, it is always really exciting for me to discover alternates! This place, was another place we tried on a whim, but I'm really glad we did. I was impressed by all the selections, of different types of sandwiches. And, it was fun to personalize your bag (and decorate the backside so you can see it travel down the assembly line.) All the staff that I interacted with were really great, and had great customer service. Their custom chips were unique as well. If you are around, you should definitely try it out, it is worth it!

My bf is going to grad school at UNM, which is directly across the street. When I come from California to visit him, this is one of the places I enjoy to frequent with him. (It's one of the few "pros" on my list about ABQ... But that's another story...) I recently heard we are getting a Which Wich in San Jose, CA soon. So I guess that means I won't have to visit my boyfriend as often anymore? Kidding! Cause in San Jose we won't have the choice to put green and/or red chile in our sandwiches....

I'm a long time Which Wich lover ever since I found this gem near the university (about three years ago). My favorite wiches are the Italian grinder, beef cheesesteak, and the seafood crab salad. I also enjoy their ice cream milkshake and their fresh cookies. Aside from the delicious wiches, I always leave happy because of the service I get and the nice atmosphere. Although it's packed during lunch time, the service is fast and friendly. For future fans, I advise you to sign up for the Vibe Club where you get special offers and a free wich on your birthday! Don't forget to ask for a stamp card if they ever fail to ask you because you can also get a free one when you fill up the card.

You get what you pay for hitos! Although I'm not a fan of chains I believe this place is a locally owned franchise so... I always order a hot chicken sandwich with a bunch of toppings, you can load them on here; green chile, veggies, sauces yada, yada... they only charge extra for stuff like extra meat and avocado. For less than six bucks I usually get a predictably tasty sammich with much higher quality ingredients and friendlier service than nasty a$$ subway. I recommend it. I just want them to say "welcome which wich, which wich would like?". Party on.

Don't get me wrong, Which Wich sandwiches are great...if they actually make the sandwich you ask for. Unfortunately, in my experience it is fairly likely that something will be wrong with your order. I have been frequenting this Which Wich location since I moved to NM about two years ago, and although many of my experiences have been great (which keeps me coming back), I have found that very often one or more of my toppings will be missing. About a month ago I ordered a 'turkeywich' to go, which consists of turkey, coleslaw, and 1000 island. Sadly, I came home to just turkey and 1000 island. Considering 33% of this sandwich's components were missing, I came close to Yelping about that experience. Alas, my stubborn fondness for WW kept me from complaining. Flash forward to today. I order a turkey sandwich with four vegetable toppings, to go. I get home and what do I find? A delicious turkey sandwich with....mayo! Yep, just mayo. Turkey and mayo. I added a picture of this beauty to the Yelp Which Wich page. After this experience, along with WW's past discretions, I think I am done with this place. I understand the sandwich makers have a lot of customers at lunch time, but when there are so many lunch options near UNM it is hard to justify coming here.

So I had the small Grinder on a white bun with a variety of different veggies, mozzarella cheese, and vinegar and oil. One word YUM! They nailed this sandwich perfectly. I was able to take advantage of their check in offer, even though I didn't see it until after I'd already paid for my food. Service was great, food came out super fast (and they were busy too), and the best part was that the sandwich itself was only like $5 & change. With a bottled water it was still under $8. Great sandwich, service and pricing. Now if only they had one in Ventana Ranch.... Idea for a new location maybe? :-)

Minimalist tasty sandwich. Good: Friendly staff. Tasty sandwich. Bad: No gluten free bread or wrap available. Ugly: $6 to $7 plus dollars for a minimum amount of meat with no potato offered, like similar restaurant called Lumpys. For this price, why should the customer have to pay $2 to $4 more to get the right amount of meat on the sandwich. Until a better bang for the $ is offered we can't recommend this restaurant. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

I almost never patronize chain/franchise joints, both as a personal rule and as a matter of preference based on experience. I was excited to get a sandwich shop that seemed to have lots of vegetarian options in the neighborhood, though, so I gave WhichWich a try... ...and I've never stopped going. Genuinely great sandwiches--entirely customizable--made by a friendly staff. You can't ask for much more than that. It is exactly what it is supposed to be: fast, easy on the wallet, fun, and delicious.

The place was pretty neat. Although it is small and we choose to eat outside. I don't know if other WWs are small like this one - if they are then okay. It did seem to take the staff a bit to get our order completed. The wiches we ordered were pretty good. So more than likely we will visit again.

Rule numero uno about nailing a good sangwich here: get sauced. No, I'm not saying this is great drunkard cuisine, although I'm sure it is, and I'm guessing more than a few college kids have already figured this out. I'm talking about the secret to the paper bag conundrum that otherwise baffles the average Joe with creative decision-making. The trick here, friend, is that there "Spreads & Sauces" column: BBQ, Buffalo, Marinara, Pesto, Olive Salad, Hot Pepper Mix. No matter what you stick between those buns (wow, that came out badly), the sauce makes the ride memorable, so don't go without. Full disclosure: the owner walked me through the options and underlined the sauce clause for me, so I was mentored by an expert. I tried the Wicked because it was "the signature", five meats guaranteed to deliver overwhelming carnivorous joy and elevated blood pressure in the same bite. I had it double toasted, which was probably secret numero dos: take the time to allow the medley of meats, cheeses and veggies meld together under some heat. It'll take a few more minutes out of your busy schedule, but the product will be worth your while. And that can make THE difference between the "meh" and the "mmm". So to review: add a sauce, get it thoroughly toasted. Any questions?

I was amazed. It was delicious. In the kitchen, I am a very creative individual. I walked in a bit confused seeing brown bags numbered on a carousal, but it only took seconds for me to feel right at home. I made me something special a unique piece of deliciousness. In my opinion this is one of the best, and I know this because, I can hardly wait to go again.

Great concept: grab a bag corresponding to the type of sandwich you want, then customize any way you want it. Great sandwiches, loads of options and unique toppings and sauces. Fast, super friendly service. The only downside to this place is that it is always packed! It's worth the wait.

Fun way to order- and if you aren't sure how to maneuver the system- the crew is very helpful and friendly. Good Food, great atmosphere. My sister and I finished our sandwiches and crossed the street to a cool little spot where writers read their poems from a stage- cool indeed. Lots more to do and see in that area- plan on returning soon.

At first I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a sandwich that didn't have cold cuts. Luckily their selection is vast and they have many non cold cut sandwich options. I decided on the gyro and was very pleased. In addition to the tasty sandwich, the employees were so friendly, happy, and helpful when I was there. I also really enjoyed my free drink that I got for checking in with Yelp. Thanks YELP and Which Wich!

Nice girl at the register... They got my order right, meatball sub, but it was no better than Subway and cost way more for a smaller sandwich.

GREAT SUBS! Really like the ordering process and the brown bags, I highly recommend the hot chili (on the side). The cups are a good keepsake as well, be creative with your name on the bag for humor.

Pretty good for its price and a sandwich place. I would grab a quick bite here again. I ordered seafood salad pretty good, would order it again. Beef was too salty, won't do that again. Chicken parm was a sliced chicken sandwich didn't taste much of the tomato sauce, not bad but it doesn't taste like chicken parm.

This was the best sub sandwich that I have ever had. I loved the twist of green chili. If your just visiting you have to try it on the side. It has a little kick to it. The service was awesome! Everyone was friendly.

Call Which Wich for your lunch catering needs. As part of the judging committee for the New Mexico Pageant of Bands I was tasked with finding a place to deliver lunch for 65 people who would only have 1/2 hour to eat. I needed something tasty, filling and inexpensive. Which Wich came through! They have a simple catering menu that allows your participants to choose all elements of their sandwiches (bread, meat, cheese, chips & cookie). Each lunch came boxed and labeled 65 sandwiches delivered on time and perfect. And each one was very YUMMY. Thank you Which Wich! Lorrie

This place is very good! From the decor, the friendly staff and the interesting and unique method of ordering, it is a fun place to visit! I had a pastrami sandwich with cheese and sauerkraut. Very yummy! Definitely will return!

First things first- I don't dig franchised restaurants. Why? They generally lack originality, force homogeneity and end up as charming as a suburban 7/11. Two minutes into Which Wich/Albq. and I was over my disdain and in love with this restaurant. You walk in and the mood is "up" and it just smells great. Fresh baked cookies "to order", toasted bread....come on. Although it's hard to reinvent the sandwich, WW does an admirable job of giving you an awesome diversity (Gyros to cranberry sauce & turkey!) of choices and an inventive ordering system that eliminates talking to anyone (though my cashier seemed pleasant enough). This completely kills the side-death march epitomized by schlepping through Subway and staring at slimy mystery meat. I ordered a shake, homemade chips and a Wicked....and it was great. Large portions, fresh ingredients, sunny atmosphere- this place will overcome your chain-phobia. Highly recommended.

Great sandwich place by UNM! Sandwiches are custom made and always fresh! A lot more fun than quiznos or subway, by far. Great variety of meats, cheeses, and toppings. Also the brownies are great and they even warm them up for you, which makes all the difference!

Ventured into Albuquerque's Which Wich for lunch today to be faced with what I like most in a sandwich shop: choice. Of all the sandwich-serving joints I've frequented, Which Wich does the best job of putting me in control of every item in between the two pieces of bread I choose. I don't have to settle for a sandwich I mostly like or might like; instead, I choice every item from start to finish using a bag with a myriad of options and a Sharpie. Easy, simple and satisfying. Plus, they offer milkshakes, iced tea and soft drinks, and heated cookies that serve as the perfect ending. On top of the autonomy and great food, my party was greeted by Matt, the owner, and tended to expeditiously by employees. The food came out fast and perfectly prepared, and I will certainly return to Which Wich in Albuquerque very soon. Next time, I might add red chile and bacon to my egg salad. Just because I can.

What a wonderful sandwich shop. It's right across the street from UNM, and it's a great place to have lunch. Basically, it's a Subway style shop where you design your own sandwich, but rather than walking the employee through your sandwich design you write it all down on a checklist. bag which is submitted. There is a wide selection of sandwiches to please anyone. The chicken parmesan sandwich was weird - don't get that, but anything else should be fine. The wicked is a treat. Be warned, the wait here can be very long, especially during the lunch rush. If you want to know when your sandwich is coming out, draw a design on the back of your bag as you can see the bag hanging up and where you are in the queue. It's a little pricier than a joint like Subway, and they toast all their subs - but they're quite delicious.

This could have been one of the best sandwich's I've eaten. If not the best, it's definitely top 5! I love the concept of how you write your order on a paper bag. The actually sandwich was toasted perfectly to warm the meat, melt the cheese, and crisp the outside of the bread while leaving the inside soft. As this was my first time, the manager took a large amount of time to walk me through the process and he was so nice and friendly. I can't wait to go back and try the milk shakes and the fresh oven cooked cookies!!!

Went in to this place since it was the closest to our parking spot. Expectations were low, especially from a sandwich chain. But ooh, this place is good. Don't skimp on the fillings - go for everything you can get. I loved the bread and the way things seem to be mixed in just the right proportions. Can there really be much in the way of innovation when it comes to sandwiches ? No. But can a sandwich be made to taste good ? Yes. And this place did it for me. One can only hope that they don't go down in quality as they expand.

This place just moved into my neighborhood. I wasn't too thrilled about a new chain sandwich shop, but I finally gave it a try, and it turns out it's not too bad. In my opinion, it's way better than Subway. The ordering system is really hands on, you grab a bag from the ordering station and check off what kind of sandwich and how you want it prepared from a list printed on the bag. And, it's also pretty cheap, all sandwiches are only $5! However, one thing i was a little annoyed by was they didn't have plain potato chips! I don't want some crappy chip smothered in some "flavoring" dust! ew!

My wife and I had lunch here today. I have to say it was an experience. The way you order is fun and gives you almost total control over your sandwich. Good quality ingredients and really friendly staff we will be going back really soon. I think i'm gonna try a cookie next time they looked really good.

One of my favorite places to eat around the university, definitely the best sandwich in the area (for the price!!). All whiches are only $5 (except the wicked, $6). Definitely remember the green chile sticker and I also recommend filling up on all the toppings you could ever want. Great sandwich.

wish the sandwich was a bit bigger, but i had the veggietarian with avocados... mmmm it was the best avocado sandwich ever.

Always enjoy, great stop for a quick sub - like the choices and the milkshakes are the best!

This visit has been interesting, cashier was having a bad day so I was not greeted or even a simple "thank you"...no big deal, food is always good!

This place is awesome and could give subway a serious run for the money. The staff are very friendly and helpful

The sandwiches are fresh, the guys behind the counter, are very friendly and the design is cool too.

Good choices. College campus so a young crowd! Clean

A refreshing alternative to your standard sub shop and they were open at 7:30 on a Saturday night after the neighboring restaurants were all closed.
(5)Matt A.
Made us both sick.... RELISH is out of the way but much better.

Great sandwiches! They have a much bigger variety than Subway and similar sandwich shops. The sandwiches are only $5 which is a good price for me! Bonus for green chile lovers: you can get it free on your sandwich.
(5)Andrew J.
I don't want some crappy chip smothered in some "flavoring" dust! ew!
(3)James M.

(5)Kai C.
wish the sandwich was a bit bigger, but i had the veggietarian with avocados... mmmm it was the best avocado sandwich ever.
