This restaurant reminds me of those old roadside restaurant/truck stop as we see in the movies, exept there's no truck parking... Friendly staff... Had a good conversation with the cook. Prices are affordable and yo get a good portion of your meal and great quality... Will go back fir sure

Continuing on with Pat's Most Excellent Adventure, I again ran into excellence at the Western View Diner. In my quest to sample a majority of the menu, today I ordered the steak sandwich. Thinking it would be something like a cubed steak on a bun, I was happily surprised. It was a nice thick cut of sirloin, very tender and cooked perfectly to my request of medium rare. Fantastic. Amazing. Perfectly seasoned and just delicious, it almost melted in my mouth. The portion was good sized and came with a choice of mashed potatoes or French fries. After 5pm, you can get a baked potato. I chose mashed with brown gravy. As usual, they were yummy. This was so filling and satisfying, I had to forego my dessert, but maybe next time. The service was spot on and quite friendly. I highly recommend the Western View Diner and especially if you are in the pursuit of excellence, GO HERE NOW!

It's an old spot here on the 66. Typical dinner food mixed with a few Mexican dishes. I ordered the special tri tip and shrimp. They make their own bead and serve it toasted with butter. The service was nice and friendly. The owners son was overlooking everything and came by several times to make sure everything was all good. It was. Nothing special a good old fashioned restaurant. Reminds me of a place my parents would have taken me to as a kid. Noise level was quiet. Owners son spent time chatting about the restaurant, Did i mention they also make baklava. He shared stories of his family all gathering to make baklava. My meal was under 13 bucks. Steak cooked as ordered, shrimp tasty. I'd take my dad there for a flashback from the past. I can just hear him and the son chatting all through our meal. Lol

I just discovered this restaurant this afternoon. I'm from Brooklyn, NY so I recognize a good restaurant when I see it. Western View is the real deal. The ribeye steak was delivered fast, cooked right, and it was full of flavor. These guys deserve your support. The owner knows his meats. He told me they cut their own steaks. I'm a convert.

The type of people that go here are not probably not checking Yelp for reviews, but you're here trying to find out if its worth going, and as I type this its now the second review (I didn't have much to go on when deciding to go here). First you need to realize that you are going to a diner. Don't expect fancy and don't stray too far from what diners are good for (eggs/bacon/sausage). With this in mind, this place is still not that good. The waitress was pretty rude (and ghetto), she spilled beer on one of us, and the food just wasn't very good.

I'm a regular here, come once a month with a group of friends for a post-event breakfast. The food is plentiful and tasty. The prices are reasonable. The wait staff are friendly and attentive (I have never experienced the rudeness described in some of the reviews here... maybe the folks who complain of that are getting as they give?). The menu has a lot of choices. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is that the menu's many choices don't include a whole lot of light and healthy fare. But what's there is delicious. In the mood for breakfast? I love the chorizo and eggs plate. The huevos rancheros are terrific. Need a nap after breakfast? Try the Vaquero (chicken fried steak with chile, home fries, and a tortilla) Like extra cholesterol? Go for the steak and eggs breakfast with biscuits. Like I said, delicious and plentiful food, served friendly, but don't expect it to do wonders for your waistline! Great for an inexpensive indulgence.

We were very excited to try this place out! The neon sign is really cool, it's gotten good reviews, and seems to be a historic Route 66 icon. My husband and I went in on a Friday night about 7:30ish. It wasn't busy. The waitresses were friendly and managed to keep our drinks refilled. They have an extensively varied menu...everything from classic diner fare, breakfast items all day to Italian dinners. I'm not sure how much is prepared fresh daily, but by looking at the plates being served, it appears to be a lot of frozen type items. The food just doesn't come off as good home cooking or classic diner dishes that are whipped up daily. My husband didn't really care for his meatloaf plate. He said it tasted frozen and it looked it. My breakfast was quite bland and the bacon wasn't prepared as I had requested. However, the biscuits were delicious!! Fluffy, big and moist! I definitely recommend them! It was just an okay dining experience. Nothing special and we probably won't return will on ABQ.

What a delightful experience. We stopped there on a whim during a trip to ABQ years ago. We stopped in mid afternoon, between lunch and dinner and it was very crowded. Thats always a good sign. Over time we have had repeat visits there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food has always been fresh, delicious and served by an extremely friendly staff. The family that owns the diner treats everyone like a family member. It is a delight! Another thing that got our attention was the diversity of the customers. There were cops, ranchers, students, retirees, tourists and so on. Eating there is on our "to do list" when we are in ABQ. The next meal there just might be late summer and we are looking forward to it.

Fifteen years ago a fellow steak lover introduced me to The Western View--and for a reasonably priced steak, I fell in love with the place. I have expanded my diet though--finding the Greek Salads to be fresh and tasty, plus the best Baklava to be found in Albuquerque. The breakfasts and the gyros also pull me in....but a good diner has to have something else to draw me, and that is good, friendly service that makes me want to come back--and that is always the case at The Western View, where everybody knows your name.
