I truly think this is the best Thai food in Albuquerque. I love this place. I'm very fussy about my Thai food, having spent several years in Thailand in the Peace Corps, and everything here that I've tried tastes authentic and fresh and not Americanized, like many of the local Thai places. I tend to always get the pineapple fried rice or the chicken laab (not on the menu, but they often have it available if you ask) and it is always wonderful. Friends rave about their pad thai too.

Another dive, but the food is great! When you first walk up to this place it looks like it might be closed, or even condemned, but once you pass through the door it looks a little better. I was here with a group of 8. We were seated immediately at lunch time on a Wednesday. We ordered a variety of dishes and were served within fifteen minutes even though there were several other small groups in the restaurant. All the dishes were good, including the Pad Thai. Pay at the counter. I'll definitely be back.

Ordered pad thai and a curry dish. The noodles were dry and both dishes tasted burnt. I was looking forward to a delicious flavorful meal and ended up very disappointed.

Ok, so this food looked and smelled amazing! Fresh, and popping with spices, fresh veggies, curry, and fragrant jasmine rice. My bad that I ordered it hot like a certain someone on Yelp! recommended. I ordered the green curry and owwww it is so hot I can't eat it because it makes my tongue throb with pain. The flavor profile is really great though and I love that the tofu isn't fried. I'll have to go back and get it at a lesser spice level next time so that it's edible. Thanks for the tips, to those of you that recommended this place!

My wife and I took a two day trip to ABQ to do some shopping and just for something to do. I saw the reviews here and we decided to give it a try. When we first pulled up we were leary, but we've seen worse exteriors. The inside was kinda neat, and it was clean, cloth napkins, woo hoo!... LOL I had the Green Curry and my wife had Pad Thai. We both really enjoyed our meals. Lucky for me my wife couldn't finish all her's so I got to enjoy it also. Just an all around down home good eatin' kind of place!

Inexpensive and food reflects the price. Had spring rolls and tofu with broccoli. Sauce on tofu dish was bland and used copious cornstarch for thickening. Spring roll was inoffensive but nothing special. Not terribly clean and they had someone spraying for bugs in the dining area while we ate lunch.

The three and half stars is about right. You get what you pay for but this place used to be better but its always been hit or miss. tonight I ordered red curry with chicken and a side of fried veggie rolls. The curry was watery and less spicy than I expected. The rolls were fine. If you're on a budget it's worth a try. Otherwise i'd hit up Thai Cuisine 2 or Thai Orchid down the street. Although service at Thai Orchid can be downright rude and terrible but their food is good.

Got take out the other day from this place. I would ideally give 3.5 stars. Thai house is Right in the heart of UNM dinning so prices are low for decent portions. Service on the phone was very pleasant and helpful (which can be rare nowadays!). Storefront is quaint seats maybe 25-30 people. Had the yellow curry with tofu mild and a mussaman curry with chicken medium. Flavors were only OK weren't as bold as I was expecting, sauce a bit watery. Also no green bell peppers in my curry as was listed in the menu entry, but the otjer veggies and protein were cooked well though. I will try again this time not a curry dish to see if their cooking is worth a second look since their service was so pleasant.

I know it's mean to give one star but this was the worst restaurant experience. We sent our food back. It was that bad.

This place used to be good I've heard but the night that we went to Thai House I was sorely disappointed. The young waitress was really nice but she had to much to do to really pay attention to our table. We had fish cakes to start, they were hard and rubbery and almost black, unedible. Then all ordered different meals, I had the sweet and sour chicken, I was expecting crunchy battered chicken with a sweet and sour sauce but I was brought stringy watery chicken drowned in what was called sweet and sour sauce but was so watered down it was like sweet gross slime. I didn't want to have any of it. My sisters egg drop soup tasted old and was ugh just bad. The food was overpriced for what it was and I really didn't want to pay for any of it. My father in law was picking up the bill and didn't want to complain, he's not a complainer, if I was paying I would of sent everything back. Will never go back.

I would go back again. I got PadTahi and Sweet Rice with Mango. There was a lot of mango with the sticky rice, so that was nice. The PadThai satisfied my Thai craving, but I would have liked more veggies. Lots of noodles and tofu, not a lot of veggies. All in all though, I had a positive experience.

Last night I was craving Pad Thai in the worst way... I wouldn't rest until I had it, so I hopped in the car and drove down to my favorite Thai restaurant, Orchid Thai. The wait was insane, at least an hour.... I was starving so a wait like that was out of the question, then i remembered that someone mentioned Thai House was really good, and it is just around the corner from my apartment. So we rush over there and get a table immediately, there were only a few other people in the place which made me a little nervous. I ordered the Pad Thai and my dining companion ordered the red curry, and we split an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls were tasty with the plumb sauce, my pad thai was pretty good, not as good as Orchid's pad thai, but definitely a good substitute. The red curry was delicious, possibly better than Orchid's. And a great thing about this place is the price... significantly cheaper than Orchid. I don't know why it took so long for me to try this place out, it is a block away, and delicious. So if you are in town and Orchid is too packed, or you want to spend a little less, check out Thai House, it's right across the street from the Vortex Theatre.

I love Thai House. They have it much better than the oft-mentioned Orchid Thai: smaller, more intimate, better food, AND cheaper. No contest!! Their curry is a tasty treat with several variations for your mood and taste.

I'm dogging this place of one star because of the notoriously poor service, but that's recently changed, they've hired and over the past couple months I've had a fantastic experience at the Thai House. Visit their website, thaihouseabq.com , and you'll learn about the heritage of the cuisine these people serve. They're legit, the recipes are authentic. Still, be selective about what you order. Like any family restaurant some of the offers are magically perfect, while others fail to impress. If you want an appetizer head for the Vietnamese spring rolls, some of the best in the city, they won't disappoint; the chicken sa-thea is a downer. As for entrees don't be shy, but in my opinion ordering Pad Thai--theirs is lovely--is akin to ordering Kung Pao/Gong Bao in a Chinese joint, a somewhat boring peanut and rice noodle concoction which caters to the American tongue. Why not try a salad, like Yum Nue, which pairs grilled beef with onions, tomato and lime juice? Or my absolute favorite, Musmun curry, a hearty potato dish soaked in coconut milk. Regardless, here's your essential rule: order it HOT. If you can't handle spicy try the Pad Prik, veggie-enhanced, yummy. This place is an off-the-beaten-path gem, a family owned mainstay in Albuquerque, fairly priced and comfortable for large parties--but make reservations. If you want vegetarian, head to Thai Vegan, another awesome find with fake shrimp which passes the consistency test. Overall, Asian dining choices in the Duke CIty are endless. Enjoy.

I have been eating at the Thai House approximately every 4-6 months since it was introduced to me about 7 years ago. I tend to get the same dishes (#32 the Pad See-Eau and the Vietnamese Spring Rolls are my favs), and they are always tasty. I have been to Thailand, and the food at the Thai House is indicative of what you would find in someone's house in Thailand where the atmosphere is a little rundown while warm and welcoming.

Have never had a bad meal here. With proximity to downtown, campus and Nob Hill, it's a great cheap place for lunch. I'm not a spicy food person so I always order medium on plates with spice. I've never seen it packed in here but don't let that deter you. I just overheard another customer send something back because she thought it was too salty, they let her order something else completely.

It's unfortunate that I took a Thai food newbie here for their first time. The food really lacked the bright flavors I have come to expect from Thai food. We shared an appetizer and a couple entrees. The bags of gold appetizer was just ok, nothing special. The ground peanut sauce it came with did not taste fresh...it had a slight off taste as if there were some peanuts in there that had gone bad. I have had Thai food all over the country and I realize the execution of mainstays like pad thai varies but it just didn't do it for me here. The same for the red curry chicken. The flavors were muted and unremarkable. The waitress said they only had three levels of hot-mild, medium and Thai hot. Since I was with a newbie I opted for medium. It had barely any discernable heat. Unfortunate. This may pass for good Thai food in Albuquerque but it wouldn't in most other major cities.

After reading reviews below about mussaman curry being good here, being my favorite dish I ordered it to go. The curry came in a to go styrofoam drink cup, which I thought was odd and small. The food was terrible. It wasn't even spicy enough to distract from mushy taste at hot. Like other reviewer said chicken was stringy. Have to be honest this was my least favorite.

Love this place! As long as I have been working right down the block, I have needed to go at least a couple times a month. The food is delicious, consistent and very well priced. It's also authentic with excellent customer service. A definite must go on the university area!

Don't be deterred by the bars on the windows...this place is a MUST! I have had Thai food all across the country and this is some of the very best by far. We just happened upon it by accident and it was the best accidental dinner ever! You won't be disappointed.

Ambiance really means nothing to me........ if the food is good. I was expecting an authentic experience upon visiting this little hole in the wall. Having spent time in Thailand I truly appreciate good Thai cuisine; although sometimes it can be "Americanized" I've found decent Thai food here in Albuquerque. This was not the case at Thai House. I found the restaurant itself dirty and dingy, and both the Pad Thai and Pad Siew were not appetizing. They were comprised of a handful of noodles in a brown room temperature gravy. This hole in the wall was a flop. I truly wonder how they stay in business.

Came in for the lunch special...nothing special about it. Grumpy service. At the end of my meal I opened the fortune cookie to a fortune that read "you are about to be $8.95 poorer!" Indeed.

Very much like dining with a very warm Thai family. Service was amazing, food was excellent. I had the Pad Thai and the Panang Curry both were perfect. I will be back!

Even with all of the fancier Thai places in town, this place has remained my favorite. I love that they make everything from scratch. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but it's because of their authentic recipes and preparation. My favorites include the Tom Yum Goong soup (best hangover or cold cure!) and the Chef's Special Pineapple Curry. Today I tried the sweet rice and mango dessert and it was delightful. Service has always been a bit questionable, but seems to have improved lately. (I almost miss the loud family discussions in Thai during dinner service, but hey...) I spoke to the owner a while today and she says people have gotten used to the taste of processed and pre-made Asian food. If you want that, go elsewhere. This place has the feel and taste of eating at someone's home in Thailand.

Some may question my decision to have Thai food in Albuquerque, but I was craving Pad See-Eaw, and Thai House had been recommended to me, so I went with it... and I wasn't disappointed! I ordered my food to go, and when I went to pick it up, I noted that the restaurant appeared to be a little shanty from the outside... and the inside too! I was the only patron, but it was late when I arrived. It's worth noting that they sell some quirky gifts inside as well as serving food. In addition to Pad See-Eaw (#32 on the menu) with extra broccoli, I ordered the Vietnamese Rolls (#4 on the menu) as an appetizer. This was way too much food for one person, but I made a good effort and did pretty well with it. It wasn't the best Thai Food I've ever had, but I found both dishes fresh. I admit -- the Pad See-Eaw was a tad bit on the greasy side, but I still enjoyed it, and the peanut sauce that came with the appetizer wasn't as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. Prices were moderate and service was friendly enough. While I may try some other Thai places in ABQ before heading back to Thai House, I'd give it another shot for sure.
