I was told this restaurant delivers (and confirmed on the website) and was thrilled as I am staying two minutes away and have to work tonight. When I called, she was not helpful at all and basically said, "yeah, no, not tonight, I'm leaving." I begged her and said I would stand outside the hotel and wait if she would drop it off on her way, I just wasn't able to dine in tonight. She said, "No, I'm leaving. Sorry." Don't put on your website that you deliver if you don't intend to follow through with your advertising. Customer service is 1/2 the battle, I would have rated them high for efforts if they would have made any.

I went here on a recommendation and aside from good service, the best thing I had here was sake. The salmon sashimi was grade b at best. The el diablo roll sounded really good and spicy, but it was neither. The presentation wasn't bad, and as I worked through the roll I hope the next bite would have a hint of flavor, but the only thing prevalent was the crunch inside. Lastly I tried the yellow tail sashimi and while it was somewhat tender, it was just ok.

i had pan fried noodles. the ingredients were fresh, and the food well prepared. the food was reasonably priced, perhaps a little higher than i would have preferred for the portion. I'll go back to try the sushi. it looked great.

This is my favorite place in New Mexico to get Sushi. With the Press Pass, I get a 20% discount, and I go all the time with my girlfriend. The fish is very fresh for Albuquerque, especially on the weekends. The chefs are awesome and work very hard, and are generous, especially to regulars. I don't typically order the fancy house rolls, as I am a simple sushi man. The price is not bad for rolled sushi, although nigiri sushi feels a little pricey - but it is worth it. The basics, yellowtail, yellowfin tuna, halibut, and others are always fresh. In terms of more fancy rolls, I like the salmon tempura very much, as well as the unagi. The one thing I have not liked was the spicy tuna roll - but that may just be because I don't like rolls like that, as it was the first I've tried. In terms of Albuquerque sushi joints, it's fantastic, O, the main chef, is amazing, and with the 20% Press Pass discount it can't be beat. The Press Pass is available to anyone who has a subscription to the Albuquerque Journal.

The pros: I love the Sushi King. The New Mexico roll is delicious, with a tempura green chili in the center. It is like a relleno in a sushi roll. Also the crunchy roll, and the nigiri are all excellent. Everything is fresh and tasty. I could eat here once a week and not get tired of it. The place is small, but rarely do you have to wait for a table. It is nice and close to the downtown area for movies, music, and people watching. The cons: it is small, so you get a cold blast in winter each time the door opens. The beer/wine selection is not that great for me. No dark beers. Wine selection is very limited. Have tea instead.

I think that when you become a regular you get better treatment. that said, I'm a regular and I Love! this place. Friendly chefs and waitstaff. Great fish. I get nigori, not rolls, so the fish better be good. And here, it is. I will keep being a regular! BTW...O is the best chef! and I love the salmon skin that is fried by the unnamed chef! ;)

I like their sushi quite a bit. I love their dragon rolls and the presentation is great! It's quite large, as well. I get it with the crab and I always leave happy. The dragon rolls and plum wine is all I need to be happy. I am a fan of their eel, too - very flavorful and tender. The place is cute and clean (which is hard to find downtown...). It's decorated very nicely.

It's fine. That's about all I can say. Service ok. Food was decent. No wow factor but a decent lunch option when you've been around long enough ...

was looking for a quick lunch option downtown. found it...fast service, but so so sushi. maybe I'm a sushi snob, but I like tight rolls that don't fall apart when picked up, as well as more bites, smaller sized. prices were a tad high, had two plain rolls for about 14 bucks....but was very quick

My first, second and third experiences with sushi in Burque occurred at Sushi King. This was the place to grab a roll or some sashimi when you wanted to taste what the Other Half enjoyed in a burgeoning downtown scene, I'd say this was 15 years ago. Back then, my takeaway was always the same sentiment: pretty good rolls, hefty price. Since that time the sushi scene in ABQ has, naturally, grown up. Sushi King is located on a killer strip of inner-city real estate, near the movie theater, a perfect spot to park and peruse the town. So it doesn't surprise me that the place hasn't changed, much. The fish is as fresh as you'll find anywhere in the Duke City, the menu is tourist-friendly and service is generally top-notch. There's absolutely nothing wrong with anything you order around here; if you're looking for comfort sushi you'll find it, and the cost isn't ugly or unfair, it's just, you know, downtown priced. My last visit included a bowl of soba noodles with vegetable tempura. Again, the bowl was fine. I'd caution against throwing tempura-dipped anything into broth, the whole thing can be a mess and you can ditch your chopsticks, in the end you'll be tipping the bowl into your wanton jaws and drinking the stuff. Stick with the rolls, here, and don't get too fancy; spicy tuna, caterpillar and the New Mexico option work. If I return, I'm going straight sashimi.

I actually have had pretty good experiences at sushi king! I like the location. I like the miso and sashimi. The special rolls are usually worth the extra moola too! So yumm! I'll be back!

I don't like raw fish so I was skeptical going to Sushi King but I heard they had good fried rice so I decided to go with some friends. They have the New Mexico roll which has no fish and it is the best roll I have ever had. O the chef is very friendly I recommend this spot.

Probably will try not to come back. They gave me the "stinky cup!" You know when you order water and you can smell the kitchen inside the cup? Like a sea shell, but for industrial dishwater. Then the fish was grainy and marshy. By that I mean, when it starts to separate between the muscle fibers as part of the natural breakdown in the circle of life? It lacked the sheen of fresh kill. I do not mean to imply that the taste was bad or rotten or anything. Indeed, the taste was quite average and on par with sushi served in a supermarket. The vibe on this Saturday lunch shift was that the restaurant is slowly sinking into despair and needed a charismatic owner to engage before all is lost.

I hate writing bad reviews, but sometimes bad things need to be said and hopefully the business can make the proper improvements. So here is my story: A group of 8 met up for dinner at 6pm. The place was not full but did fill up while we were there. We all ordered our food (4 on one ticket, 2 on another, and 2 others were individual). The server was pretty good with drinks and getting other items for the table. The delivery of the sushi to the table sucked! First the 2 individual orders arrived, then by the time they had finished the 2 people on one ticket arrived. Long time wait for the next delivery for the four people order and that took to deliveries (because they forgot to add the nigri to the boat). All the while, other parties of 2-5 all got their food and left, then replaced with more people. I'm just very dissatisfied with the timing of the deliveries. Bringing out a few rolls at a time for each order at the table is better than waiting and having others already finished with their food. My second complaint was the freshness of the shrimp tempura for the crunchy shrimp roll. I have gotten this roll at many sushi places and this is the first that tasted fishy, which means the shrimp was not fresh. Closer inspection revealed that the tail of the shrimp was black, also a bad sign. All the other items and rolls were good and fresh, but I would caution anyone with the tempura rolls.

Hands down my favorite Sushi place in Albuquerque. I have been a frequent customer for several years, and not once has the quality of the food been anything but stellar. Super fresh - creative and authentic. The Sushi chefs are friendly - no over the counter glares here. Other staff provide consistently wonderful service. Very comfortable space. This review is specific to the downtown location.

Taste wise: average. Bite sizes not practical at all, could hardly pick them up much less fit them in your mouth. Service was not impressive.

I love this place. The food is authentic and the people are very attentive and kind. The New Mexico roll is awesome as is the shrimp Tempura roll. They have a couple TV's and are usually playing some sort of sport ball. I like this place better than sushi hana. Give it a try.

Came in for a late dinner, while not feeling well. This place was a quick walk from the hotel and was a perfect place for what ailed me. I had a couple of bowls of nice hot miso soup and a big pot of ginger tea. The service was great, with a couple of different folks helping out. It wasn't super busy (830pm on a wed). Had the spicy tuna, which was pretty good. The servers were very friendly and even asked it I would like some hot tea to go. They gave me a large tumbler size and it helped me through the rest of my night and even warmed it up the next day. Definitely will go back next time in town.

I'd like to give the sushi itself a four, but the one is for the service. I searched this on yelp with the hopes I could get ramen. They do have noodle soups here with a selection of noodles. I asked the waiter for the best noodles to make it most like ramen, but he just didn't know. I asked if an egg could be added and he said he didn't want the cook to risk making it awful. When my sister and I arrived there was only a party of four in the dining area. The waiter really took his time taking orders, creepily staring at people. I think the two of us were served in a fair amount of time but I felt bad for the party of four who were visibly annoyed with waiting. The red lady was a great roll, I highly recommend, the green chili is awesome. The waiter really creeped my sister out. She told me he kept staring at her and was watching her when she was about to take a drink of her tea. She had a weird vibe that he might have spit in it. The bill came and he had tacked on a 20% gratuity. I understand that for large parties, but we were just two people. I like to tip and hate being forced a certain amount. For 2 bowls of noodles, one specialty roll and 2 green teas the bill was over $50! Maybe if we had a different server our experience would have been better.

Full Disclosure: I love rice. Rice and I are BFFs. As you'll get to know me and my reviews, you'll notice that I have a habit of talking to strangers that own the establishments. I was speaking to the owner, not knowing she's the owner, and asked her how she got into business. She said she loved to cook, but as a Thai person, she knew sushi would be making her more money than Thai food. She was right. the downtown location is the businest location that has been open for over 10 years. She even jokes around and says that some of her waiters stick around for that long, and she can never get rid of them. When a restaurant stays open for that long and the waiters have a good relationship with their managers, they're doing something right. The fish always has a great, fresh taste and the RICE is the right consistency for a good quality sushi. Oh, and off the menu (in some places), try the deep fried tempura ice cream. You're going to thank me for that item. Trust me.

We stopped in for dinner before a movie & were not impressed. It smelled like grease when we walked in - fried rice was super greasy with lots of large onion pieces & oddly sweet, chicken pieces in teriyaki soup had bones, black marks & damage to walls - just a general feeling of no attention to details. Sushi was ok and waitress was really nice. Disappointing overall. :0(

Sushi is pretty good. Service is quick and friendly. Lady in Red roll, recommended by other Yelpers, I found tasty, but a bit messy. The fake crab it's topped with has a habit of sliding off because it is so covered in sauce and sliced in tiny pieces. Caterpillar roll was delicious. Do not, however, order the Udon. It should not even be on the menu. The Udon itself gets one star. You can get better instant udon than what is served =x

I've decided that I can not judge ABQ with expectations of LA. So my ratings are going up by 1/2 a star (and since they don't have 1/2 stars, I'll round up). Sushi King & Noodles needs to drop the noodles part. I've been here twice and was completely pissed off the first time. I had their noodle dish which was no better than what I could make at home with a pack of Ramen and some thawed frozen veggies. But when I tried their salmon sushi to clear the rank taste in my mouth, it made me turn the tide. I just got back from there for lunch this time and was rather happy. Their sushi is good and the wait time was not long. As other reviewers have stated, it doesn't get packed. My complaint would be the pricing. They are on the above average $$ for something in ABQ. The wait staff are super friendly and I will return. 3.5 *

I would have given it 4 stats because the snapper and yellowtail were very good but the toro was something I wouldn't order again. Salmon Skin roll - yum. Good staff and nice atmosphere. My favorite sushi place in downtown Albuquerque for what that's worth. Oooh, and I almost forgot I had a very good tako salad.

The best of the sushi places we've tried in Albuquerque so far. After living on the West Coast, sushi in Albuquerque doesn't sound like a great idea but they do it well here. The New Mexico Roll features green chile and is delicious.

I had the tuna salad, an albacore roll and the red lady. AT first when I saw the chief preparing the salad with romaine lettuce I grimaced a bit... but then the magic happened! The chunks of tuna were HUGE!!! the sauce was spicy!!! The hint of small orange wedges and sesame seeds was a great touch and the the radish shreds and seaweed gave this the poki charm I had anticipated!!! One bowl of this is enough to fill you up!!! As far as the rolls... They were very good, the quality of fish I felt was B-grade. My only complaint however is the amount of rice used. I noticed by looking at everyone else plates that the rolls were gigantic due to the abundance of rice. Now if this is the style of how Sushi King makes their rolls then I apologies for the criticism in advance. In most most sushi restaurants I and kill 6 rolls easy because the amount of rice is thin and minimal and the amount of the goodies like the fish is high. High amounts of rice is a tactic that most AYCE places use to fill you up fast... but Sushi King is not AYCE so I'm perplexed as to why you want your customers to be so full so fast. You guys can sell way more rolls with less rice so we don't get so full so fast. This is just my opinion because my palette does not want to have a mouth full of rice, 2 grains thick is ideal not 6 grains from paper to fish. The staff is amazing!!! Defiantly 5-stars for service!!! My sushi chief was funny and very attentive to filling my empty stomach!!! I am a huge fan when my sushi chef goes the extra mile and makes me the orange slice desert!!! I love being bribed into having happy thoughts with food. lol. I am a huge fan of their customer service.

First impression of this place wasn't the best. Not many people inside during what should be a busy time and fish didn't look like it was the freshest. First roll was a spicy tuna.. Kinda hard to mess that up. Not bad tho I give it a 4. Next was an albacore roll.. It was semi fresh and I've had better. Give this one a 2. Next was smoked salmon nigiri. Had good flavor but again I've had better.. 3.5 for that one (rice was a little hard also) Overall a little disappointed. Love the ice tho! The chef did his best with what he had tho! i had pan fried noodles. the ingredients were fresh, and the food well prepared. the food was reasonably priced, perhaps a little higher than i would have preferred for the portion. I'll go back to try the sushi. it looked great.

It's decorated very nicely.

was looking for a quick lunch option downtown. found it...fast service, but so so sushi. maybe I'm a sushi snob, but I like tight rolls that don't fall apart when picked up, as well as more bites, smaller sized. prices were a tad high, had two plain rolls for about 14 bucks....but was very quick

Trust me.

(5)Julie J.

(2)Daniel W.
(4)Phi G.
(4)John M.
(3)Andy J.
The best of the sushi places we've tried in Albuquerque so far. After living on the West Coast, sushi in Albuquerque doesn't sound like a great idea but they do it well here. The New Mexico Roll features green chile and is delicious.
(4)Narongsak H.
(3)Matt B.
Would've given it a 2.5 if i could...oh and please put something interesting on the TVs instead of ads on time life!?!
(3)Tessa M.
I love sushi and this place has great sushi. The New Mecico roll is so good and it is the only place that makes it right.
(5)Jenny N.
We came here during lunch hour because it was close to the convention center. I love the fact that there is free wifi and that it was not packed as we're here for business and not from around here. I've been to a decent amount of sushi restaurants and I would say the sushi I had here was decent (I had the spicy salmon roll). The Japanese curry was a no go. Edamame was not very fresh and service is ok. The mango mochi desert was light and refreshing.
(3)Skip H.
Gave the Sushi Chef choice in what he would make me. Sashimi variety was very good and a Tuna Rainbow Roll was exvcellent.
(5)Il C.
The best thing is the New Mexico roll. The green chile tempura tastes so good. I've eaten at the Paseo location and the Pan American location, but the downtown location is the best. It's a great place to eat a late dinner. The only bad thing is the size of the dining room. Parking can be a bit of a hassle too. The sushi is ok for New Mexico, so you can't compare it to anything on the coast.
(4)Alexandria J.
New Mexico Roll was delicious deep fried hatch chilies. Sushi was fresh and staff was good. reasonably priced. perfect quick lunch if your strapped for time downtown
(3)N D.
Very good quality of fish. I've only eaten the sushi here ( not noodles). Nigiri is awesome and Albuquerque roll with green chile tempura is tasty.

went here with some friends from seattle. I got to admit after living in san francisco I was a little skeptical as were my friends. Sushi King got it just right. Excellent himachi (and good sized rolls) service was ok , nothing to rave about but the "lady in red roll" made my mouth orgasm. Give this place a shot.

It's a great place to eat a late dinner. The only bad thing is the size of the dining room. Parking can be a bit of a hassle too. The sushi is ok for New Mexico, so you can't compare it to anything on the coast.

New Mexico Roll was delicious deep fried hatch chilies. Sushi was fresh and staff was good. reasonably priced. perfect quick lunch if your strapped for time downtown

Would've given it a 2.5 if i could...oh and please put something interesting on the TVs instead of ads on time life!?!

The Press Pass is available to anyone who has a subscription to the Albuquerque Journal.

the N.M. roll is amazing....just wish it had better a ambiance. Suggestion: louder music, more contemporary/ artsy vibe.

I love sushi and this place has great sushi. The New Mecico roll is so good and it is the only place that makes it right.

Very good quality of fish. I've only eaten the sushi here ( not noodles). Nigiri is awesome and Albuquerque roll with green chile tempura is tasty.

I love being bribed into having happy thoughts with food. lol. I am a huge fan of their customer service.

went here with some friends from seattle. I got to admit after living in san francisco I was a little skeptical as were my friends. Sushi King got it just right. Excellent himachi (and good sized rolls) service was ok , nothing to rave about but the "lady in red roll" made my mouth orgasm. Give this place a shot.

Reasonable service. Prices are a bit on the high end. Though the food is good overall.
(4)Matt C.
I feel like this place used to be better. Ho-hum service. Decent but not amazing sushi.
(3)Douglas R.
i had pan fried noodles. the ingredients were fresh, and the food well prepared. the food was reasonably priced, perhaps a little higher than i would have preferred for the portion. I'll go back to try the sushi. it looked great.
(3)Chris N.
look, its albuquerque and your getting sushi, the sushi was very decent and fresh tasting.. the service lagged and its pricey but you get what you pay for..
(3)M G.
I've only had the noodle soups here, but they were very tasty. No complaints. Cool/strange interior in this place. Open later than most things around here, which is nice.

This place is awesome! I come every time I'm in town. Great staff!! Ryan has been my server every time and always treats us me like family. The chefs are very nice and the food is unbelievable!
(5)David R.

(2)Kara T.
I love this place. The food is authentic and the people are very attentive and kind. The New Mexico roll is awesome as is the shrimp Tempura roll. They have a couple TV's and are usually playing some sort of sport ball. I like this place better than sushi hana. Give it a try.

My wife and I have come here for date night for years. Always reliable good meals and the Chef "O" and the wait staff are great.

(4)Jane M.
It's fine. That's about all I can say. Service ok. Food was decent. No wow factor but a decent lunch option when you've been around long enough ...
(3)Matt L.
was looking for a quick lunch option downtown. found it...fast service, but so so sushi. maybe I'm a sushi snob, but I like tight rolls that don't fall apart when picked up, as well as more bites, smaller sized. prices were a tad high, had two plain rolls for about 14 bucks....but was very quick

One of my favorite lunch spots. Quick, easy, good prices and yummy sushi.

Trust me.
