Love this place! We go once a week! The foods great every time and the service is outstanding! The prices are good too! We drive all the way across town to get this sushi! We won't go anywhere else! The Cowboy roll is the best one!

This place is just like the location on central but slightly better. Here they give you miso soup without even having to ask. It's also less crowded, and opened on sundays. But we usually still go to the central location (it's closer). My husband gets the all you can eat about $22. You get two rounds for an hour, 1 specialty roll, anything you don't eat gets charged. My fav is the Nob Hill, Salmon Dynamite, Alaskan Roll, Asparagus Roll, and sometimes the Mango Tango.

Rude is all I can say. We walked in at 11:25am and they told us they didn't open for 5 more minutes. So we said okay and stood there to wait 5 more minutes in order to be sat. They looked at us and said, "you need to wait outside." I asked if they were serious since it is cold outside and they have a waiting area and they replied "YES"! So we walked ourselves over to Five Star Burgers and had great service and great food. Will never return to either location.

Not bad at all. Convenient, if not a bit pricey. That being said, they have a good selection of rolls, and the specials are always interesting. Restaurant itself is nothing special, kind of run-of-the-mill strip mall sushi decor and layout. Service was good, and everything seemed very clean (very important). I can't say I'll make a great effort to come back here, but I know it's a seemingly safe bet in a pinch.

Hey, Sushi and Saki! Your sushi is pretty awesome but your service blows. I'm so sorry that we offended you with our patronage this evening. The attitude of the hostess and server were horrible- it's almost like we bothered you by merely walking in. PS- your logo is a Killer Whale. You might want to watch a little documentary called: Black Fish.

If I could give this place a lower score I would. The first time I went I felt rushed and unappreciated by the staff, as if my arrival was keeping them from a break. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. I went back to give them a second chance and this visit sealed it for me: I will never go back. Not only did the waitress again seem short and in a hurry, but she knew absolutely nothing about her menu and her specials. This is one of my greatest pet peeves for any serving staff. She first tried to tell me that the description of the specials was on the front board, but when I pointed out that only the name of the dish was listed, she got upset and hurriedly went off to ask the sushi chef. I was one of two customers at the time and I had to ask for soda refills and for any other service repeatedly. To top off this horrible experience, I seem to have gotten food poisoning from something I ate there and was sick for two days. Way overpriced and horrible service. I'll never return.

This is our favorite sushi place to go in Albuquerque. The service is decent although I will say the staff need to learn to smile more. I would recommend the following platters: Luxury Titanic Woods We had several others but those were our favorite.

My first time here. I mentioned to the hostess and server that it was first time there. They did not explain any specials, recommendations, or any tid bits about the place. Service was not friendly, outgoing or even pleased that I stopped in. Sushi was ok.

We called in a take out order....took our time driving over there and mother was ready but the sushi. REALLY...the says we will have wait for the kitchen food. Annoying, since calling ahead includes an expectation that the food items will be ready when the customer arrives to pay for the order. Not loving the service. Jury is still out on the food...writing g this review while I wait. No rush. Oh, my critical eyes is now observing the dirty floor. Oh, my monkey brain hurts...

I have two words...."Luxury Roll". Try it. This is the best sushi roll I have had. I have tried several others and they are just as good but the luxury roll is the one for me. The atmosphere is clean and relaxing. Probably one of the best sushi places in Albuquerque.

I'm surprised this place got low reviews compared to other Japanese/sushi joints. It's at least comparable to most other good sushi restaurants in ABQ. The place has lots of choices for sushi rolls and the quality is fine. I would not drive across town just to visit this place, but if you're relatively near and you're craving sushi, then go. What makes this place even more impressive is that it serves great Korean food. Granted, there are very few places in ABQ serving Korean food, but if you're looking for authentic, great-tasting Korean food as an option, then this is your go to place.

Great sushi! My friend and I came here one night (yes, we were THOSE people that ran in 30min before closing) and were greeted kindly by employees. Seated right away and given menus. We ordered five rolls. ALL of them were delicious. My favorite rolls here are the Lobo, Crunchy Munchy , Woods and Hot Mama. Our sushi was brought out fresh and very quickly. We did not feel rushed at all- although, we did eat somewhat hastily so they could close. I would come here again. Environment was nice, not the best- but nice. Service was great and the sushi is delicious.

The sushi here was not good. The service was actually great and our waitress was very sweet. There is a lot of space and this could potentially be a good restaurant however the sushi was poor quality. Obviously it isn't going to be fresh, considering it is sushi in New Mexico, but we really couldn't even stomach to finish it. Our stomachs were not happy with us.

Huge portions, good selection, and very good service. Our group had sushi and really loved it- we recommend the woods roll!

Food is good. They have one awful waitress. She happens to be the one who is not Asian. She did not make eye contact or greet me as I walked in. I ordered food to go. She slammed the menu on the counter and threw the pen at me. I will not recommend or return to this location unless they fire this evil waitress. It's too bad that one bad seed represents the restaurant. To be fair, the rest of the staff is friendly, which is why I did not give them one star.

The sushi is good and I have never had an issue with the service here. I have seen a lot of reviews about how rude the staff is and I couldn't disagree more. I guess if you are the sensitive type who expect to be pampered by everyone you meet, you might find the chefs to be rude, but I saw them as nothing but professional and focused on their work. The food is delicious and the service is great. All the food is of good quality and I would highly recommend Sushi and Sake to anybody.

After working 5 over night shifts in a row we wanted to have a date night out together. Since I'd slept all day, we looked up places specifically open until 10. We walked in a little after 9 and checked the sign on the door to make sure the online closing time was correct. We should have left as soon as the hostess told us we had to order before 9:30 or the 'sushi chef would be mad.' At 9:15 she was hovering already, asking for our order. We marked off a few things and gave it to her. The food came quickly and for the most part the rolls were pretty good, but nothing exceptional. She brought our bill as soon as our food was on the table and asked us to pay. We did and then she came back 10 minutes later to ask us to sign it so she could close out her register. It was only 9:35 at that point. Basically the whole meal was rushed and we were still gone by 10. This was in no way the relaxing night out we'd wanted and our business was clearly unappreciated so we will not be back.

there is a korean food section of the menu. but if you are hunkering for banchans with your traditional korean grub, fuhgghedaboutddit. you will have a pretty decent dol sot stone pot bibembap [crispy crackly rice on the bottom!] oh, there is just a surly asian waitress who scolded us that the lunch bento was not available because it was mother's day-- like what is the connection? [but that lead us to order from the Korean section].

I liked this place until my fiancé and I got food poisoning from eating sushi here. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy dysentery, vomiting, and fever.

Ate lunch here today, server was terrible and slow. Had to ask for everything not once did she make the effort to refill our glasses. Sushi rolls tasted like they are from 7 eleven and the Sashimi was small thin slices. Won't be back. Smiths sushi rolls are better!

Been here a few times for lunch now, and I'm never disappointed. Sushi always tastes fresh and the place is always decently busy. They make a really good Salmon Skin Hand roll there which I love. Each meal comes with Miso (which some places charge), and I like that they have pictures of all the rolls on the wall so you can actually see what you're getting. Check it out!

This place isnt bad... it is our go-to spot for an AYCE sushi place in abq (and its close to where we live which makes it convenient). A la carte sushi here is a bit pricey for what you get. the sushi isnt the BEST, it's hit or miss. Sometimes we have had great hamachi, sometimes we have had not so great unagi.. it just depends. They make a lot of hand rolls which are good and cool that you can order those on the all you can eat menu, too. The Korean food though is really good. It's better than any Korean food we had tried at some other places in town. In the last year they changed their hours to be open a little later which is a good thing because I think they used to close at 8 some nights and now it's 9. We are never blown away here but yet we keep coming back due to the convenience and good price of the all you can eat when we want a sushi binge.

We go here fairly often. Enjoy the sushi and we always have had good service. It's not the fastest but I usually linger over sushi anyway. The salmon is always good. I don't order the all you can eat option.

This has the dubious distinction of being the worst sushi I've ever had. I ordered the tuna sashimi and it was warm, fishy and had the texture of fish that had been frozen and thawed. The seaweed salad was fine: nothing innovative, but fine. The service was prompt and friendly. I saw that they offered Korean dishes as well-maybe those are better? I won't be returning to find out. I know this is a land-locked state, but I have had great sushi in other restaurants and even much better in the case next door in the Whole Foods. Do yourself a favor and grab some there instead if you are in this part of town and want some raw fish.

EXTREMELY RUDE! I made a Yelp account just to write this review. We came in at around 7:30, half an hour before closing on Sunday. The waiter/hostess told us the sushi buffet was not available in a rude tone, hoping we would leave if we were there for the buffet, we said its fine, we'll do the regular menu. Just as we sat down, she said in an annoyed voice again, "we close in 25 minutes". I understand we came in near closing time, but realistically it wasn't bad because there were 3 other tables with guests. We were rushed to order which is fine. The sushi came out, but we had no plates or silverware yet. We waited for a couple minutes, when I saw her, I tried to asked for plates and chopsticks before getting cut off by her. Me, "could I get a couple pl...". Waitress, cutting me off, "I'm getting them". We never got straws so asked for them a few minutes later, she just threw them in the table...EXTREMELY RUDE. We were charged 18% gratuity for the worst service ever. Can't pay me to come back. The other waitress was nice. Ours was the bigger older one of the two. Oh yeah, the food, it was decent...

So we've tried to like Sushi and Sake. Been there 3 or 4 times. Each time has been worse than before - at first it was reasonable and actually a pleasant surprise (having just moved from California, we were satisfied with it as our first NM sushi). After that each trip was more disappointing: selection, sercive and quality left much to be desired. Our most recent time, while the special rolls were okay (salmon dynamite was very good), the spicy tuna had that "old sushi" taste and the others were just so-so. Anyway, we won't be going back. Need to find somewhere else in town, but it won't be sushi and sake...

The best sushi in town! Everything is super fresh and delicious. Tons of unique specialty rolls on the menu. Definitely worth checking out.

One of the worst restaurant I've ever been in my life. As a big fan of sushi and korean food, I was so excited when i found this place because it's located on my way home. Yes, I am lazy and just go if the restaurant is O.K. enough and CLOSE to visit. First time I was there with my Korean friend, I tried a couple of korean dishes as well as its signature roll. The roll was O.K. but, beef in Korean dish tastes like rubber. Although I was not dissapointed with the quality of food, I kept going and just tried sushi and sashimi only. However, when I tried spicy tuna last time, it smelled and tasted like fermented fish. Stay away from this place.

Not a bad place. My buddy and I love sushi and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the sashimi lunch special. Fresh and well presented. I will be back again.

Like the other reviewer, we have really tried to like this place. Been here a handful of times because of the convenience, but we have promised ourselves never to patron this place again. Service from the Korean owners is just lacking, as we met with two of them at our table. Things you NEED TO KNOW as a potential all-you-can-eat customer at Sushi Sake: The sashimi was of questionable quality, but what really pissed us off was the extra 10% charge of what our TOTAL order was, regardless of their $20 all-you-can-eat pricing structure. So even though we thought we were going to be billed $40, we were charged an extra $10 because we left only 5 pieces of sushi on our dish!! We let them know how displeased we were, and the owner just said that that should have been explained to us. And even though it was, there is no worse way to treat your customers who were willing to drop $40 on a lunch of bad quality fish you offer. We will NEVER eat here again, it's a complete rip off, and you are better off getting the exact same quality over at the pre-packaged sushi section in Whole Foods without the utter disrespect as a Sushi & Sake customer.

I just want to update this because as much as I loved this place, the service was so trifling the last time I was there that I can no longer enthusiastically promote this as 'my fav'. The food was still good but we waited 20 minutes to get a menu only for our waitress to then pull a Houdini and disappear for about 30 minutes. I also ordered a to-go order when I got there asking for it to be ready when my bill came. That never happened. I went to the only person that looked to be working and explained that I had to go and that we'd already waited another 30 minutes for our bill and the to-go order that was forgotten about completely. She said she was sorry but didn't offer any compensation. From now on, I'll be taking this food to go because I don't appreciate spending over $50 for a meal that was good (not fantastic) and service that left a bad taste in my mouth. One of the only places in town that I will eat Sushi. Coming from a City surrounded by water, albeit not always so fresh, I got very spoiled when it came to the way that fish should taste. Needless to say, I was leery about eating sushi in the desert. However, this place really impressed me with both it's ambiance and it's fresh taste. My favorite is the Shrimp Tempura. Another roll that never disappoints is their Dragon roll, so tasty! The service is super fast, and the wait staff is awesome. We have never waited to be seated, and they come right away with their signature soup. They give you a little menu card and you just mark off what you want. There is an area right behind the dining room where they make your food right in front of you. I have eaten here several times, and have never been disappointed. I would suggest this place to anyone who enjoys some yummy sushi, and/or to those who just like a good meal at a plush spot. On top of all this, if you like sake and Asian beer, this place has a wide array of selections that make your taste buds sizzle. Ouch. In a good way.

Very good sushi and sashimi. We ordered the boat with the crunchy munchy roll and the pink lady roll. Everything was fantastic. I highly recommend.

Great sashimi. I sat at the bar and enjoyed wonderful service and delicious sashimi... Melt in your mouth tuna, salmon, yellowtail and white tuna. The house Chardonnay for $4.50/glass was better than expected. But the topper was the Woods roll, with New Mexico green chiles. If you like it a little spicy, check this one out. Will be back on my next business trip.

We have lived and traveled all over the country. Granted, Albuquerque is not a restaurant mecca, but they are trying hard to grow. Sushi & Saki is one of our favorites as a couple who have eaten some of the best sushi in the country (Boston, Dallas, New York, Seattle, etc). We find the food very fresh, inexpensive and fast. Our favorite served, Denise, seems to ALWAYS be there with a smile. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who like sushi.

Service is Slow, sushi is not fresh and the "all you can eat" deal is not all you can eat.

    (1)
  • Dan C.

So the sushi here isn't as terrible as people are making it out to be, but it's certainly not the freshest. My seaweed salad was also so-so. My service, however, was impeccable. I was in a big hurry and the lone waitress did a great job accommodating my schedule. Wouldn't go back again though...I'm generally distrustful of sushi in places far from water!

Food-great as usual! All you can eat quality sushi, $20. The service sucked a big one. I will never go to the heights location, ever again.

This restaurant's second location is on Academy, newly opened in September 2009. The decor is simple, using previous restaurant's tables and chairs. The room was a bit over bright for Friday evening dining. We sat at the Sushi Bar in front of the sushi roll maker. They have quite an abundance of specialty rolls that were beautifully prepared even if the ingredients were repetitive. The complimentary miso soup was luke warm but not too salty. Salad does not come with the sushi. The spicey squid salad was quite piquant and tasty. I found the nigiri lacking in size, though the fish itself was very delicate and melted in the mouth. As the two stars say "I've had better for the same price."
