Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I've been to the Slice Parlor now three different times and have enjoyed it before, but I'm hoping tonight's experience was a fluke. For starters, when I called, the woman on the phone was quite busy--so busy she unfortunately kept having to put the phone down to answer questions from other employees or customers. It made me a bit nervous that things weren't going to go smoothly, as she was distracted when I was trying to explain that my house isn't the easiest to find. So we had a coupon, and placed an order. She quoted us 35 minutes. Two phone calls and an hour and 15 minutes later, the pizza shows up. The guy delivering it was very nice and very personable, but unfortunately the pizza was COLD. It was cold, it was congealed, it was GROSS. The garlic knots we ordered were also cold. The best part is that it cost 32 bux with a 20% tip for the driver. =/ I wouldn't necessarily object to that for delicious food delivered to me in my home, but this was seriously terrible. So we waited 75 minutes (twice the quoted time) for seriously bad pizza. We called to discuss it with the manager, who was very nice. He's giving us a gift certificate for next time. I appreciate the effort to rectify the situation, but it still doesn't change the fact that I paid a shitload of money to wait a VERY long time for mediocre food. Now we have a ton of pizza that I'm not going to touch. They offered to send a driver back to pick it up and refund us but I think that's kind of a crappy option given how damn long we waited. If I had known I was going to pay that kind of money to wait that long and food that we didn't enjoy, I seriously would have just gone out to eat at a sit down place. So the pluses: the manager and the driver. The minuses: everydamnthing else. =/

As very recent transplants from New Jersey we were skeptical about eating pizza "out west". May I mention that my husband is also from Italy and I was the inspiration for "The Pizza Eater" character a la SNL with Melissa McCarthy (jk). During our first visit to ABQ to find a place to live we stumbled upon Slice Parlor while walking the Nob Hill area. Right off the bat the staff are adorable and very friendly (says a New Jerseyan) and the local beer selection is just perfect. Marble IPA 4ever! Then comes the pizza.....YUM! Thin but not too thin crust, great sauce and an overall delicious taste! It felt like home! We also love the casual vibe of this place and enjoy taking our time with a few beers waiting on our pizza. They have big screen tvs with all the appropriate sports on it, the prices are fair and this has quickly become our favorite new spot in our new home! We love Slice Parlor!

Slice parlor has great specials from day to day. I went there on a slow Monday night last week. We ( party of 4) had a great table, we all decided on a LARGE pie to split. Well it took for ever for our table to get cleaned from the last slobs at the table. When the table was cleared by the server, I had asked if I could order a drink, I got thirsty sitting there for 15 minutes( ME WANT BEER), servers reply was "I am not your server"! 5 minutes later same unfriendly server returned. As it goes the parlor is open late, however at 6:30 pm, is to late to order a large pie is what the unfriendly server told us. As the happiest server in the world stood at the table listening to us debate weather or not to eat there or not, CHIPPER sound was made "I am busy either you know what you want or you don't". We left very fast. we waited 30 minutes and all we got was well more hungry. don't wast your time !

It's alright, nothing wonderful. The pizza is ok - not stellar, not bad. I am not real keen on servers/bartenders that text behind the bar. I would go there again if I was in the neighborhood, but I will likely not make the jaunt up from UNM anytime soon.
(3)Toni H.
The pizza is good and the beer selection too. The only thing is it takes over 30 minutes to get one... A joke for a fast pizza. All tables were out of napkins too. Maybe they're still learning to get their act together. But the pizza is delicious!!!!

I held off on writing a review because my visits during their first couple months being open were not so great - the pizza was outstanding but bad service can kill a restaurant no matter how good the food. I appreciated how receptive and genuine the owner (Jim) was when I struck up a casual conversation with him that first month and I could tell they were going to try to fix things. There are few things I find more annoying than business owners who refuse to acknowledge glaring issues. Luckily, this owner clearly understands what the restaurant industry is about (#1 customer service, #2 food). So I figured I'd give it a few months and then write a review. And I can say this place has really improved since opening - they really do have what I consider to be the best pizza in ABQ. The service has improved over the past year and things just seem to be running more smoothly. I'd go as far as to say the service is on par with the food now. That's a very impressive feat to make such a turnaround so quickly, knowing where they were on day 1. A great addition to the neighborhood for sure. They do one thing (serve pizza) and do it really well. (and the beer selection is usually good too).

Slice Parlor is one of the only restaurants I'd ever encourage to raise prices (just a bit on the slices). I want this place to stay in business! Great pizza, reasonable prices and a well-selected set of beers. The service can be a little slow at times (they could probably use another server during peak hours), but it's been getting better. The staff is always friendly if you ask for something.
(5)B. Livin I.
Great pizza, great people, great times! If only the beers were still $2 on Wednesday they would have it all.
(4)Jennifer M.
My friend told me this place was great and brought me here last week for a slice of pizza. I fear greasy sloppy pizza but was willing to give the place a try. Super glad I did! This is the kind of pizza I dream about. Thin, crispy, not too greasy, just plain perfect. In fact, I liked it so much I ordered delivery a few nights ago because I couldn't get it out of my head. The best news for sure is that they deliver to my house. I figured the only place that delivered in my ares was Amadeo's. Just found my new pizza muse!!

Way better now.

I appreciate any sit down restaurant between work and home that's still open after I'm off work. Most days, I'm off work at ten in the evening and all I want to do is sit and space out. The addition of tasty food, a plus, the addition of a friendly crowd of people, another plus. As you would imagine, this place works very well for that. I certainly don't require a sit down meal every time I'm too tired to cook, but I absolutely prefer it. The atmosphere at Slice Parlor is laid back, the decor is clean, and it's a lot less pretentious than most of the Nob Hill restaurants I frequent. It's comfortable, albeit occasionally a bit loud, and honeslty, I like to be there. Additionally, few places offer such a good (and well priced!) beer selection in addition to consistently good food later in the evening. I'm not a Frontier person so I can always appreciate other businesses offering deliciousness past 9pm. Add top notch beer to the mix, and the only thing I could think to worry about is price. But this place is so inexpensive! I get a single slice on most occasions, either cheese and green chile or the gourmet pesto, but I'll try something new next time. The gigantic slices of pizza are always crisp and satisfying, enough to make me a snob about other places trying to market themselves as New York style. I tried the garlic knots recently and they were much too doughy (and likely undercooked) for my taste, but not bad, flavor wise. The doughy-ness was probably just a one time fluke. Their green chile is, hands down, the best I've had at any pizza place in town. The cannoli is solid and cheap, whether they make it in house or not. Cannoli is amongst my favorite desserts and I try it everywhere I go. So far, Slice Parlor's is pretty high on my list while Amadeo's store bought mini-version is the worst, texture and quality wise. Sadly, the pizza there is awful, too. Especially after getting so used to the consistently good pizza at SP (if I may be so bold). I feel like Slice Parlor is more than good enough for me to begin frequenting at all times of the day but I do like the early-mid week late night crowd. The service here is always friendly even though it's late and the servers I've had are definitely knowledgeable. Although the service is less attentive than I'd like on occasion, I'm positive the problem is drunken hooligans and late rushes occupying the servers time. Finally, I'd like to make a shout out to Teig (or is it Teag?) who is adorable and seemed very on top of things around the bar when I popped in tonight!

Ok 2 questions: How do you call yourself a slice parlor but not have slices ready to go at all times? How do call yourself NY style pizza but not have slices ready to go at all times. I think I've had it. Been here 3 times because I really did want to like it. Not having slices ready ever (tried to get them to go 3 different times and they never have them. You need to order and wait for ~15 min.), for a place that touts their slices, that's just unacceptable.
(2)Dustin W.
If you are gluten free, this place has a gluten free crust option for pizza that is good, and they have a gluten free lager and amber beer available. Very laid back atmosphere, not fancy. Feels like a college student hangout. They have tables and seats at the bar, great location on central ave.
(5)Lucas L.
The bartender was extremely nice even though I sat in the one spot that was unreachable to her. I ordered two green chile pepperoni slices and it took about 5 minutes for the food. Far from the 15 minutes the reviews previous to this have said. The pizza was delicious and I should have just ordered one slice because they are true NYC slices. Next time I plan on hitting up the beer selection... hops with green chile always make for a good meal.

While there often seems to be a glut of pizza places in Nob Hill/University area, the Slice Parlor gets a vote from me for the take out/delivery option and toppings available. The beer selection is pretty good with both some local and some well-known breweries from out of state. There's nothing unique about it but it's nice to be able to grab a decent beer with pizza. As for the food, I've only tried the pizza but think I'll try to calzones next. While I have never waited for a slice (what's the point? Leftovers are the best part!), we waited around for a pizza for 15-20 minutes. We had an 18'' pizza with a 50/50 topping split. My side was goat cheese and grilled chicken and his was sausage and bell peppers. In the end, we decided mine was superior - tons of goat cheese that got nice and melty and good meat content. My gripe? The crust - while I don't like a deep char on it, it was a little chewy and I prefer a crisp style. I also don't eat pizza with my hands (I know, weird) and had to ask a few times for silverware while getting weird looks from the wait staff. I'm not odd, I'm a neatfreak that's European... Things I also like - gluten free crust option. While I'm not gluten free, a good friend is and she is always happy when I find a place where we can both enjoy a good meal. I also like the delivery option (though I haven't used it) and the late night opening. You can run down from Tractor Brewery and pick up a pizza to go as well. Things I'm not a fan of...the price. Wow. $2 per topping? On an 18 inch pizza? That's high even for New York City prices. Give us at LEAST one topping including for crying out loud, that's how most other places do it. That means a pizza done right may be close to $20 Overall, it's a good pizza place with tasty options that maybe the place to go when other options might not be open or you want home delivery/take out.
(4)Shahnaz K.
Great bar atmosphere. Excellent salads. Excellent pizza. Gluten free pizza is satisfying. Cider is delicious. Service is variable depending on who is working. Joey and Sippi are excellent.
(4)Xander M.
Hit or miss. Pizza is NY style. Coke is always flat. Waitstaff is kind. Gluten free beer and gluten free pizza.

I stopped in at Slice Parlor after receiving a recommendation from a friend. Service was prompt, pizza was fast and delicious, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I got a slice of cheese pizza because it was recommended by the owner. It was probably the first time I've I had slice of just cheese pizza and felt totally satisfied. No spice or other toppings required! That's quality. Oh and the crust was nothing like I've ever had before. It was flaky and "pie-like". Very memorable. Slices were huge and reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back!

I entered this pizza shop, because the neon signs that adorned the windows strongly indicated that their specialty was New York Style Pizza and Local Brew. What a ghost town. The place was bare, and uncomfortable. I was given this weird look by the wait staff. I wasn't feeling particularly welcome. I promptly sat at the bar, expecting to be greeted but I wasn't. The sign on the wall quickly caught my eye. "2.50 Marble". After waiting 10 minutes for the bartender to notice me, I ordered one. I was then told I would have to wait for them to change the keg. Fine. No big deal. But after another 10 minutes I was told that they were out my the marble beer. Already disappointed I ordered another, but was then told they would have to change the keg on that one as well. I ordered a slice of pizza, which came out before I finished my beer... It was large, but it was also hard, and the toppings were undercooked. Like it had been sitting in a pizza warmer before tossing it with fresh ingredients, then sending it through the oven. Horrible. Bland. No distinct flavor. And what does it say to your character when your pizza doesn't match competitors within walking distance of your store. I will not be returning to this place.
(2)Mario C.
Great pizza and a nice location. The place is a little on the small side and it takes a while to get your order but don't let this detour you as the food is great and fresh.
(5)Dorothy W.
Great service but pizza not so good. Had the veggie blanco but got the meat version. They were nice enough to switch it out for me promptly but the new version just wasn't great. There was something strange, almost powdery about the white sauce and didn't taste the garlic at all. The feta was sort of bland and didn't have that punch of flavor you normally get with feta cheese. The actual pizza pie was thin crust but tasted like frozen pizza. No wow factor at all. My friend go the supreme and wasn't impressed as well.
(2)Wile E.
We had a good time there on opening night. We had just eaten at Crazy Fish, but the owner gave us a free slice to sample. I lived in nyc for 10 yrs, so i'm pretty familiar (and not all that impressed) with ny-style pie. This tasted pretty similar to your standard Ray's Famous slice, but they need to get the size right. That's really the hallmark of generic ny pie. Theirs is way too small. The one owner we talked with said he'd never been to the city, but i think he said his biz partner was from New England and had spent some time in nyc. Nice beer selection. I just hope they settle on a cool vibe, with non-radio music, no blaring sports from all 8 tv's. I really want to like the place.
(4)Yuriana A.
For being in a popular pizza area with well known establishments, the slice parlor needs to step it up. The prices for a single slice and their combs are affordable but the price for a whole pie and toppings can get pretty pricey. The pizza is New York style for sure, thin and long, but the sauce seems to be missing some zest. Maybe i'll try the calzone next time.
(2)Michael H.
Great local beers and $2 pints on Mondays work for me. Maybe it should be renamed the Beer Parlor, because I would not go back for the slices. $4.50 for a slice of green chile and pep is no bueno. Larger than average slices though lacked flavor...especially the crust. The server was good, but she never told me her name. Note to other servers who are good...always give your table your name so you can be praised and build a following.

Everytime I go to a show at the Guild I see Slice Parlor across the street. I should try that place, and I finally did. I was a little nervous trying this place because of some of the reviews. My two kids and I had a few hours before our movie and decided to give it a try. This place is set up like a typical bar. As we enter I see college students, bikers (burly), and elderly people. The waitstaff was prompt but the food was not... That is not necessarily a bad thing. Usually means fresher food. The place was loud as stated in other reviews. As we waited and waited my kids started to get restless. But right before the "I'm hungry" or "when is the food coming" began... The large Pizza slices and wings arrived. 2 pepperoni slices and one cheese. The wings come only one way. So if your looking for barbecue flavor or any other than a slight spice wing don't get the wings. Although they are tasty but a little plain. The place is called Slice Parlor so let's get to the pizza. I really enjoyed the pizza here. Now be careful with your topping choices. Pepperoni is greasy but a pizza is as good as it's dough. The crust was just right with a slight crunch but soft enough to fold as is the proper way to eat NY style pizza. Which I taught my kids that day. Overall this place is a great place to get some cravings taken care of like NY style pizza or local craft beer (which I will drink next time I'm in the area) Food - 4 Clean - 3 Staff - 3 Wish I could give 3 1/2 stars but 3 it is for now. I will update after I go with some friends and get some bar chatter going.
(3)James H.
I don't think I could have ask for better food, service and atmosphere, our waitress was *super* nice and fast. We happened in during tuesday $1 slices from 2-4 and also had a salad. I love their New York style pizza, nothing quite like folding your slice into a pizza sandwich!
(5)Sonya D.
Fun atmosphere, good service and a nice beer selection. While I appreciate the size and crispness of the slice and the flavor of the green chile, The pizza lacked real flavor which pointed to low quality ingredients. Pizza sauce was 100% store bought, cheese lacked flavor or any 'stinginess' of fresh mozzarella and crust was disappointing. Probably won't be back.
(3)Tawnya M.
I love that so many of these little home grown places are moving into Knob Hill! This place is a few minutes walk from my house and for a couple to four people it is really great. I will have to say that I have gone there with groups of 8+ on two occasions and they do not handle crowds well at all. Both times they have forgotten few peoples food all together or made people wait for excessive amounts of time. One of the people whos food was an hour later than everyone elses was promised by the waitress a comped meal, which was later revoked and changed to a 20% discount by the owner...tacky. In thier favor the first time we went they did give everyone a free slice coupon for the next visit. I'd say try it in pairs our for a double date but no more.
(3)jt w.
I'm originally from the East coast, and there are very few places in ABQ where you can truly get NY style pizza and the Slice Parlor is one of them. I ordered a cheese pizza to go at the bar and it was yummy. The garlic knots with cheese were delicious! Service was friendly and I waited less than 15 minutes for a freshly baked pizza. I like the fact that they have goat's cheese and feta cheese as options.
(5)JoAnne Q.
Pizza was very oily, soggy and lacking in flavor. I asked for chicken on my salad, I got about a spoonful of small chicken cubes. It was laughable. This place needs to stop comparing thepizza to NY pizza, it's obvious the owner has never been there .
(2)Zoe L.
tastes fine when you're hungry + can't beat $1.50 giant slices from 4-6pm (i forget if every day or only one day). the smallest pizza (18") can easily feed 3 ppl who are not super hungry. the calzone is basically an 18" pizza folded in half + braided along the side. heavy on garlic, but i'm garlic sensitive (wish i weren't). brightly lit + TVs tuned to nick@nite (why?) + some sports channel.
(2)Michael S.
It's okay but I'm not impressed. I went there on a Tuesday when the cheese slices were $1.50 (2pm to 4pm). Additional toppings are 50¢ each. The service was about average, there were some people in the restaurant but they weren't busy. I ordered a couple of slices to go and it took almost 15-minutes. In my opinion a bit long considering how many people were in the place. As for the slices themselves, on a scale of one to five with "one" being the lowest score I would give the slices a "two" and that's being generous. Normally the cheese slices are $3.25 each. In my opinion that makes them pricey for the overall quality of the product combined with the slow service. If you want a slice of pizza with flavor then go to Dion's.
(2)Cass A.
Great selection of beer and a different special everyday! Cheese pizza and a Santa Fe Nut Brown beer costs me 6 dollars and some change. It was a great lunch and affordable. Nicely located in nob hill, parking is difficult but you can park on the west side of the building and its 2 hour parking or the east side and pay for parking. Waitress were also very friendly and provided great service. I also like the laid back vibe in Slice Parlor! Definitely a 5 star place, closest thing you'll get to a New York pizza.
(5)Carrie N.
Not bad for the price, but nothing to dream about.
(3)Webb J.
I love this place. It's my neighborhood pizza place - I love the staff, the pizza, the beer, the ambiance - and the occasional sporting event on TV. I'm looking forward to some Olympic moments.
(5)Brad W.
A great ending to my night at Nob Hill. Three beers at Kelly's led me over to try this place because everybody knows that pizza after beer is a time honored tradition. I had read the slices were huge, but you never really know until you start putting the cheese and oregano on them in my to-go box. Ordered two slices and yes they were monsters, also got 20% off for checking in (my first) and the bartender was very nice and had an awesome tattoo that covered most of her back. I had to have a farewell green chile slice of pizza and that was a great choice, while I went with a white slice that was loaded with ricotta cheese and I added on a bunch of pineapple at bartender's suggestion. Both slices were only $3.50 with 50 cents for extra topping and worth every penny. They also have custom slices which I noticed later and those have potential and are a good deal. Great slices and this new yorker knows good pizza.
(5)Borjangles N.
Been there several times. I agree with some of you that you have to WAIT! I called in for a slice this past weekend and was told that in 20 minutes my pizza would be ready. I showed up 20 minutes later and waited another 30 minutes at the bar. Apparently my pizza was sitting in the back for the past 30 minutes. It only took 3 waitresses and the owner to figure out what happened. On my way out, the waitress who retreived it said "whoops, sorry about that." Service is REALLY REALLY REALLY bad. As far as the pizza is concerned, I did notice that they have changed their ingredients every time I go. They haven't really stuck to one dough that would work. It's really a hit or miss on their pizzas.
(1)Ken S.
We got slices of cheese pizza because it was recommended by my daughter as very thin crust NY style pizza which could be ordered by the slice. She was quite right. While I still prefer NYC pizza, the slices are huge and tasty. We had to wait a few minutes before they were served but we liked our visit and next time will take advantage of the wide variety of beer on tap. We liked that Slice Parlor is open until 11 pm.
(3)Erin S.
Very friendly staff, awesome beer selection, and hands down some of the best pizza I have ever had!! Highly recommend it!
(5)Tom C.
Ok, nothing special. Staff rude today . Soaked up 2 napkins of oil before I could eat.
(2)Jazmine V.
This place has upgraded itself to five stars. Put yourself in my shoes: I just got out of a long day of training at work and then working on a paper for school. I'm hungry. Very hungry. I call the hub to see what we should have for dinner. Uh oh...it's 853pm. It's the bewitching hour in Albuquerque. Most places close at 9pm. We can't go to our staple vietnamese restaurant...hmmmm..where should we go? Nob Hill. Nob hill is a good pick. There has to be something open there. Hmmm...I want a local brew. I'm stressed and I need a local brew! Slice Parlor! Let's do it! One of the best things about this place is that they are open until midnight. It's small, but can pack a crowd. Mostly, you can find a seat at the bar. They have a good selection of beers on tap. Everything from PBR to La Cumbre Elevated to Alaskan Amber...and everything in between, including Stella and Angry Orchard. There's something for everyone! I'm a fan of the La Cumbre Elevated. They have specials several times a week..including $3 Marble Mondays and $5.99 (I think) for a slice and a beer. If you can get there on Tuesdays, they have a Happy Hour from 2-4pm with beers for $1!! The slices don't disappoint. They are the size of two slices of pizza. I also like their salads. They are made with a healthy spring mix and topped with olives and tomatoes...no iceberg here. I usually get a beer, a slice of pizza, and a side salad. There's always some sort of sport on the TV. The service occasionally leaves something to be desired..but it is mostly good. I can officially say that this is one of my favorite places to grab a brew and a slice of pizza in ABQ.
(5)Kris M.
Hands down this is the best pizza in Albuquerque! I love thin crust pizza it is just like a true New York Style. The staff is friendly an the owner is very nice. But the best part is to be able to order a 24" pizza with a crispy crust and if you aren't that hungry you can just a single slice. The only place I go for pizza anymore. And its nice that they have local brews.
(5)Esperanza C.
Taste is good but when food can be fun. I'm so down! You know what I mean if you have ever ordered their large pizza. It's the size of a 4-top table. That's right folks! This pizza is huge. It's been a while since I've had their pizza inside the parlor but I do remember it being a fun atmosphere. Small but really fun. There's a bar top or there use to be, anyway. Why is my memory of the inside of this establishment so sketchy? Well, I usually enjoy my Slice Parlor goodness when I'm at Tractor Brewery next door. They are technically behind Slice Parlor but saying behind door is weird. You get what I'm saying! Mmmhmm. Back to the pizza - service is always friendly when they deliver the pizza to Tractor. That's right - if you didn't catch on already, Tractor doesn't have a kitchen so they let you bring in outside food. Genius! Nothing more American than pizza and beer. Hooray!
(4)Tiffani C.
I was a big fan of this pizza. It was very tasty! The crust was thin (but not too thin!) and had a great texture. I'm not sure if there is a difference in taste when your order a whole pizza or just a slice. We got a whole pizza with pepperoni and green chile it was very fresh. I love that they have a large selection of beers of tap. I had a Kona Longboard:) My husband had an "Angry Wave" which was half Kona Golden Wave half Angry Orchard. If you like Cider you should definitely try it! The pizza is great the beer is great! Also if you check in on Yelp you get 20% off! What is better than that. There are discounts on different days as well! I will be back again for sure!
(4)Piyavath K.
Love slice parlor. The pizza slices are huge. Many great beers on tap. The pizza's are not greasy whatsoever.
(4)Josh H.
Great place to stop in and grab a slice when you are wandering around Nob Hill. Close to shops and Tap Rooms. The staff is fabulous and friendly here. Come in with a group and grab a table or belly up to the bar and meet some fun locals. Fantastic place for daily beer and pizza specials.
(5)Andy B.
Have been meaning to try this place for the longest time and finally got my chance. They have a great deal if you check in on Yelp (when we went it was 20% off your check). I had a slice and a salad. The crust was nice & thin & crispy and a very decent size for the price. The salad wasn't quite as good (I had Caesar). Their prices are very fair, service was very good & they even got soda water for me. If you are sat up the hill in Tractor brewing then you should for sure get some pizza from this place to go with your beer and I will for sure check them out again next time I am in Nob Hill.

Oh my Lord, how have I not written a review yet!? Slice Parlor is one of my favorite spots in ABQ! They have some tough competition across the street, but for the price, there's no beating Slice Parlor. It was such a good spot to get lunch when we had a little bit of time or just getting off and could grab a drink with a slice as well. Their daily deals are awesome too (slice and a beer combo). And to top that off, a military discount is given too! The slices are HUGE and come with plenty of ingredients to cover it too. Never did I feel like they were skimping despite how much square footage of cheese they had to cover. And the variety of ingredients was awesome too. From what I was told, I believe they'll even deliver it over to Tractor brewery for you to enjoy with a brew up there. A nice bonus was that they would have on Rugby and Soccer on the TV's whenever I came in!.... ok well, it's a bonus for me!

Ok I've been here several times and am just now getting around to reviewing the place. First off the atmosphere is nice but does not try to be pretentious which I love. No trying to be something your not here and what this place is is a nice local pizza joint with a good selection of beer, friendly service and damn good pizza. I appreciate that they have by the slice as often I do not want a whole pizza. Do yourself a favor and try the Caesar salad. I think they make their own dressing as it tastes like Caesar and not that bottled crap that tastes more like bottled ranch dressing. Once I ordered a pesto pizza and it came out with red sauce. I told the server and they quickly remade the pizza and at the end of my meal they gave me the mistake pizza to take home. I was very surprised. But they knew what they were doing because rather than walking out even a little upset I was shocked at how well it was handled. Also, I have to say I have been here at least ten more times without any mistakes so it was clearly a fluke.

I love Slice Parlor. Their slices are huge, so you can probably just get one and be fine. Good, thin crust, loads of selection of toppings, piping hot and awesome. Okay, not the best pizza of my life. But for a really good pizza at a really good price, Slice Parlor is one of the best. Oh, and let's not forget the beer selection! Lots of good locals, which is awesome, plus a few others. Unfortunately, they also serve PBR, which is slightly worse than goat urine, but I'll try not to hold that against them. Small and often crowded, but Slice Parlor is worth the wait!

I love pizza. I love it to so so so much. I was so excited when we got Slice Parlor in Nob Hill because the slices looked huge and delicious, and I felt I could walk there and slump over giant slices of pizza after work. The pizza here is... okay. It looks delicious, it smells delicious, but it is not fabulous. Every time I have a slice in front of my face I get excited, because it looks like the kind of pizza that would punch your tastebuds right in the kisser, but it's just lacking something, perhaps spices, perhaps sauce, perhaps salt, I don't know, but it's not there. The best part about Slice Parlor though is the beer. Cheap beer with a selection that would do your alcoholic uncle proud! The waitresses are also all very sweet and attentive, so it's hard not to enjoy your beer at this place. Overall, I'm a fan because my brother and I can enjoy beers. I'm devastated about the pizza though. Absolutely devastated.

This restaurant was first recommend to me by my girlfriend. I also saw a presentation on their web presence. As I walked in to Slice Parlor (SP), the environment was aesthetically pleasing with wooden countertops and chalk board menus. I would have never thought it would be this nice inside. The outside needs some sprucing up; like a pop out sign for traffic and pedestrians to more easily identify its location. I arrived at about 2:15 PM and got slow service with almost 4 staff on hand who looked at me and only one seems to be working. This doesn't make sense to me as it appears to me that management is fraternizing with employees or customers at one of the tables. The slow service and unprofessional behavior of staff is why I give this place 3 stars. I would recommend this place to my friends for the quality of the food. Having owned my own pizza business, I had these same problems. Crack the whip, behave yourself as a manager/owner-operator. "Keep your ingredients fresh and serve your customers right; you can't go wrong." That's what Phil Pace's father told him. Phil Pace owns the most successful BBQ chain in Southern California. Take note and pay attention to the paying customers. The staff is a family, but you feed your family by providing great customer service and a high quality product. Good job guys. I'll be back and I hope you earn your 5 stars next time! Ciao

Stayed in Albuquerque for a night while on a road trip to Florida and ordered from here for dinner. It was a great decision. The prices are very good and so is the pizza. We got an 18 inch cheese pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. The crust is very thin and the pizza is not covered in too much sauce. Great ratio of sauce to crust to cheese. The service was also very good. Friendly person answering the phone and delivery person. Will definitely give this place a call the next time I'm in ABQ.

AWESOME pizza, good beer and great service. I always make time for the Slice Parlor when I'm in ABQ.

The food tastes good. The slices are huge, filling with just one, lots of toppings and options. There isn't a lot of "New York" pizza in the area so it fills a pretty serious hole. Those are all good things. I'll eat there. I just wish... The dishes are not always clean. ...okay, I'm often reminded of a Cascade commercial. You can scrape them with your fingernails. It seems like just hard water... I guess... it puts me off. Wine in a crusty glass becomes like the opposite of the whole point of wine. Like, this glass of wine is going to drive me to drink; I need a drink to loosen up so I can relax enough to have this drink. IT'S LOUD. WHAT'S THAT? I SAID IT'S LOUD! YOU ARE LESS THAN A FOOT FROM ME AND I'M SCREAMING IN YOUR EAR BUT YOU STILL CAN'T HEAR ME. It's all tile and glass and a swirling white noise din that swallows conversation and spits chainsaws. I live in rock bars. I listen to loud music. I can be THAT neighbor. "Love it Loud" is my favorite KISS song, not because I'm a huge fan but because it speaks to me into my very soul. But this place is beyond the pale- I get horse trying to talk to the person right next to me. I leave with a headache. The wait staff have missed parts of orders or we have had to repeat ourselves- they must be going deaf. My girl and I have had to text each other there to feel like we are having a meal with each other. Once we had two college girls sit next down next to us, then run into an old friend- the "OMGs" about blew my eardrums, reverbing like knives. Here's a excerpt from that night: "It sounds like some squealing brakes are talking to an orchestra tuning up." Maybe I should just get it to go and eat it on the curb.

Usually pretty decent. I have Celiac Disease and order the gluten free pizza with no problem. However I think they changed their crust because the past couple times the crust has changed because its not as good.
(3)Nat S.
This thin crust pizza is pretty tasty. Good cheese to crust ratio. Maybe a little more sauce next time. I agree with Clayton that there is no one NY Pizza style. But in general it has a nice thin crust and is zesty, so this falls in the category. I am from NH, so I have eaten many East coast pizza's. The crust was crunchy and had good tooth. I have had some crusts with slightly better dough flavor, but this is still very solid and I would order this again. We got take away on St Patties day. The place was hopping and the lighting was very bright. I am glad we called in so we did not have to deal with the crowds. Pizza was ready around the 25 minutes quoted. We were attended to quickly by the obviously busy staff. Good job on a hopping night. I guess I will talk about styles of Pizza a little bit before I finish this review The 5 major categories of Pizza as I see it are: 1. NY- Thinish crust zesty sauce. Crust must be sturdy enough to fold the pie and eat without utensils, crust may be crunchy. 2. Chicago- 1-11/2' thick deep crust with 3-5 layers of cheese and chunkier sauce. Has to be removed from pan with a spatula and eaten with utensils. 3. Greek- (most of the pizza joints in the northeast are actually owned by Greek families, and there are few options for actual Greek food) -an oilier style with lots of cheese, and a thin to medium crust baked in a pan. Not always crunchy but it will keep you warm during the winter. Hard to eat without a fork and knife until the cheese and oil have congealed. 4. Sicilian -a usually rectangular pie. thicker crust more bread like or sandwich like. Key difference between this and Chicago is a slice of this is 800 calories less than a the fat rich Chicago deep dish. also the Chicago deep dish crust is usually pressed in the pan, not thrown or rolled. Lastly 5. Neopolitan the paper thin crust pizza with severe rules governing it. I know that there are more subtypes but I think this is a decent breakdown

NYC close. Being a former Brooklynite I know good pizza (Rays). If you can't get to The Big Apple enjoy pizza here. This pizza is good. The cheese and sauce is delicious. My server Cipriana was awesome. We recommend this restaurant. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

Love it great pizza every time ny style the beers on tap are always good. Love coming here with my family.
(5)Chris V.
Just wanted a good pizza while in town and this place was good. The portions are huge. I ordered the garlic knots and if you like garlic and cheese , it's a must try. Also the calzones are huge. Will be here again when in town.
(4)Nicole O.
Great place in Nob Hill. The service was great and the beer selection is top notch. The pizza was absolutely incredible. Everyone that I was with was impressed. Must try in Nog Hill.
(4)Lynnelle J.
I was here on "dollar slice" day, didn't expect much, what a surprise the pizza was excellent. Slices uses fresh ingredients, the crust was thin and super tasty. The bonus was the great selection of local beer, both on tap and in bottles. I highly recommend Slices, great food at a more than fair price AND great service.
(5)Nicole R.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Terrible service, a single slice of pizza takes forever to come out and when it finally does, its bland and plain and tastes like its been sitting around for hours. Really, the only reason this place stays open is because they have a decent selection of beer. I've heard bad things about the kitchen, which in all honesty, true or not, means I will never eat here again. So if you are looking for a quality pizza place, look somewhere else.

I'm not a New Yorker but I've devoured a few slices in my time, at two o'clock in the morning, in the middle of midtown or the west village (yes, the east, too, but I remember the west), thanks to the advice of a few locals who'd also had a few too many. Grease and cardboard-thin crust have sufficed upon a whim. I don't remember which shops were better or worse, or which shop served superior ingredients. I recall great pepperoni, I guess. I certainly don't recall much of any tomato sauce, getoutta here. I remember pies. Big, fat pies behind plastic barriers, which separated my starved stomach from the prospect of playing in Manhattan for another few hours, easy. Those pies, I would've dropped virtually any price for a slice. The price was always fair. The meal always sufficed. So I don't know, honestly, what makes a great slice of pizza, because the Slice Parlor certainly ain't reinventing the wheel, here. They make big, fat slices that require a fold or two. Four dollar slices that'll fix you. Very little sauce, by the way. On Tuesdays I hear they have $1 slices during the afternoon. Get it! I almost forgot to mention the beer. The selection makes the southwest proud. On tap, during my visit, there were two options from La Cumbre (one of the best in the city) and a few Marble pours, along with several Colorado brands, and many, many others. Salud, Slice Parlor, for your love of suds, the selection is mighty fine and does our town legit. Overall, hey, my tummy was quite happy with some solid slices. Here's hoping the parlor finds a home in Nob Hill as one of the go-to grub shops for those of us who need a little sustenance alongside our adventures around town. The joint can be rather small, on a busy evening, and go get your table on you own - from what I could see it's first come, first served. On your own? Belly up to the bar. How about some tomato sauce, guys? It tends to balance out the grease. Still, overall this is a great spot. I'm wigging meowt. Four happy stars.
(4)Scott S.
GREAT beer selection, GREAT location, RIDICULOUS prices for a slice of pizza...it's huge I'll give you that, but I don't care if it's lined in gold, there's no reason it should be that expensive. They totally take advantage of you because of their location in Nob Hill and proximity to Tractor Brewery that doesn't serve food. If that place was almost anywhere else in town, it would be out of business by now.
(3)Sara F.
I would agree with everyone else, pizza is ok beer is amazing! Great selection of beers and wait staff was great.
(4)Damon T.
Slice Parlor is a great spot in Nob Hill for a slice and some great beer. I've been heading here recently for football games because they have a bright atmosphere and several huge flat-screen TVs. Oh, and really good pizza and beer; did I mention that? As far as the pizza goes, I can't tell you if it's truly "NY-style" or not because I've never really understood what that means. I'll say that there are a few better spots for what I consider "NY-style", but this place is totally passable. The slices are HUGE and heated to order. Getting a whole pie here requires at least 2 hungry folks. The toppings are good quality; their green chile has good flavor and good kick. Beer-wise they have a great selection at a great price. I don't know that you can spend more than $4 for a craft beer here, which is about $1.50 more than I spend at other spots. It can get a bit cramped here as they don't have a ton of tables, so if you're heading there with a group, you might call ahead.
(4)Joanna M.
When they first opened, this place was greart. Now, the food is awful, if it shows up at all, and the service is terrible. I will never eat here again.
(1)B D.
Acceptable beer selection. The pizza is just average (maybe just a hair below average). Service is below average but not appalling. I have eaten here 3 times and they have messed up my order on 2 of those occasions.
(2)Joshua H.
Have given this place tons of chances and while I really want them to be awesome, they just aren't! Pizza is always hit or miss. Stay away from the Pesto slices. They are always dried out and taste like they are a day old. Pizza can sometimes be burnt, or just look unappealing (see Sbarro mall pizza). Wait staff is also hit or miss. Sometimes they are great, but more often they do a terrible job and only make up for it with being nice (not apologetic). If you're drunk off tractor, go here for a quick slice. (Or they'll deliver it to you at the bar!) But you'd be better off going down to Brickyard. Really good beer and tap selection!
(2)Alex C.
I had another terrible experience here. I've been twice now and both times they burnt my pizza. Gave it another try and regret it. I have a feeling this place will shut down soon.
(1)Will R.
In preparation for a night of bar crawling my friends and I stopped in for pizza early evening. The pizza joint was trendy, had all types of people, and TVs to watch sports. It had a solid selection of craft beer and I noticed on the menu they had weekly specials on drinks. The wait staff was friendly and personable; the pizza combinations were vast as well. I just had a slice of pepperoni/pineapple pizza slice and La Cumbre (dark) beer which was perfect. The pizza slices are big, thin, and crispy which makes for a wickedly great pizza that wasn't greasy and just perfect. Definitely coming back before the end of my business trip.

To get it out of the way, I'll comment on what some may perceive as a high price for a slice or a pie and the restaurant's suggestion that this is New York-style pizza. With regards to the former, the price is high, yes. But the slice one receives is huge and can easily fill up the eater. Ideally, these slices could be cheaper though, but I just don't find the price here as being either a deterrent or cause for me to dislike this pizza. As for the latter, I question any restaurant that suggests they make New York-style pizza and think it an unwise move. Mostly, such a suggestion only invites criticism from people who've been to New York and think they know what the perfect NYC slice is. Not to say that I know better, but I do know better. I've eaten at every type of pizza joint in New York City in every part of the city that you can imagine---from Washington Heights to the South Bronx to the east Bronx, to Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and nearly every part of Manhattan below 110th street. I can say with great assurance that I have tried more types of NYC pizza than most native New Yorkers and definitely more than most folks who spent some time or lived for a period in the city. I moved around more, ventured in parts of the city where most folks never go (and especially not tourists) and found that there is absolutely NO TRUE NEW YORK STYLE PIZZA. Some places make thin-crust and emphasize a great sauce, some make thicker crusts to make sure the eater gets full, some use oil-based mozzarella while some use water-based, some use canned sauce and some use home-made. Some bake it in a coal- or wood-oven, while some use gas stoves. So New York-style is a myth to me. But Slice Parlor does create a slice that is NYC-worthy. I've eaten in plenty of spots where the product would taste exactly like this. Is it the best I've had? NO and far from it. But it is a standard, tasty slice that will fill you up. I've tried three slice here and all were good in their own right. The white with pesto and chicken was delicious, so too was the mammal with it's mountain (not entirely exaggerating) of meat (pause). The regular cheese slice was good, if unremarkable. I have to give some extra credit to Slice Parlor for a great selection of craft beer on tap; this is always a welcome addition to any pizza place. Oh, and this place is open late, until 11.
(4)Tony S.
Used to be pretty good. The pizza is great, but they close way too early and have this terrible policy where you have to finish your beer, yes FINISH your beer by 11pm. What ever happened to simply doing last call? I hate having to chug my beer. Great pizza, good beers on draft, but terrible policies and hours.

I was reading through the reviews, and I was kinda surprised at how many stars this has. My friend and I were walking on Central Ave exploring. We were going to stop at Flying Star, but decided to try something different. We sat down and were immediately greeted by our very nice and attentive waitress. We opted for the phenomenal $6.99 pizza and a pint of craft beer special. My only gripe was paying 50 cents for each additional toppings. Only because I was with a vegetarian who ordered every veggie on the menu. Her slice alone was 6 bucks, which made it pretty steep. I opted for the pesto pizza with sausage, after my waitress recommended it. We also got an order of garlic knots. I'm happy the garlic wasn't so overpowering, and the dough was so fresh and yummy. The pizza itself, and the pesto, were right on point. The pesto didn't overpower the pizza like I thought it would. My friend and I stuffed our faces with pizza and beer. To address the time issues, I do agree they should have some slices ready, but I also think that customizing your piece beats of insta-pizza that sits around for hours and hours. I like that the pizza is made to order, and it took less than 10 minutes four our slices to come out. That time was with most of their tables having just sat down. After all was said and done, we got some gelato and that was great too. Overall, the service, food, atmosphere, and beer really sold this place on me. For now, I feel comfortable giving 5 stars and the next time I'm in ABQ I plan to go back and update my review then. Until then, 5 stars it is! YUM!
(5)Mike L.
I've been here a couple of 3 times now. I like that they try and support local businesses, serving local beers, local gelato, etc. The salads I had on the last visit were very good. But, it's a pizza place, right? The pizza itself is mediocre. It's on the thin greasy side ala Pizza hut. Without a promotion I'll be really struggling to go back considering that Dion's, Saggio's, and Il Vicino are all within a few blocks and all make a much better pizza.

It's alright, nothing wonderful. The pizza is ok - not stellar, not bad. I am not real keen on servers/bartenders that text behind the bar. I would go there again if I was in the neighborhood, but I will likely not make the jaunt up from UNM anytime soon.

If you are gluten free, this place has a gluten free crust option for pizza that is good, and they have a gluten free lager and amber beer available. Very laid back atmosphere, not fancy. Feels like a college student hangout. They have tables and seats at the bar, great location on central ave.

(5)Yuriana A.

(1)Carrie N.
Not bad for the price, but nothing to dream about.
(3)Webb J.
I love this place. It's my neighborhood pizza place - I love the staff, the pizza, the beer, the ambiance - and the occasional sporting event on TV. I'm looking forward to some Olympic moments.
(5)Ken S.

Way better now.
(4)Kris M.
(4)Shawn M.
(4)Robert B.
(4)Joshua H.
(2)B D.
Acceptable beer selection. The pizza is just average (maybe just a hair below average). Service is below average but not appalling. I have eaten here 3 times and they have messed up my order on 2 of those occasions.
(2)Alex C.
I had another terrible experience here. I've been twice now and both times they burnt my pizza. Gave it another try and regret it. I have a feeling this place will shut down soon.
(1)Marshal R.
(4)Riley J.
(4)Will R.

(4)R J.
AWESOME pizza, good beer and great service. I always make time for the Slice Parlor when I'm in ABQ.
(5)Levi E.
(3)Heather B.
Usually pretty decent. I have Celiac Disease and order the gluten free pizza with no problem. However I think they changed their crust because the past couple times the crust has changed because its not as good.
(3)Joanna M.
When they first opened, this place was greart. Now, the food is awful, if it shows up at all, and the service is terrible. I will never eat here again.
(1)Tstockto H.
(5)Nat S.

I don't think I could have ask for better food, service and atmosphere, our waitress was *super* nice and fast. We happened in during tuesday $1 slices from 2-4 and also had a salad. I love their New York style pizza, nothing quite like folding your slice into a pizza sandwich!

Just wanted a good pizza while in town and this place was good. The portions are huge. I ordered the garlic knots and if you like garlic and cheese , it's a must try. Also the calzones are huge. Will be here again when in town.

Great place in Nob Hill. The service was great and the beer selection is top notch. The pizza was absolutely incredible. Everyone that I was with was impressed. Must try in Nog Hill.

The pizza is good and the beer selection too. The only thing is it takes over 30 minutes to get one... A joke for a fast pizza. All tables were out of napkins too. Maybe they're still learning to get their act together. But the pizza is delicious!!!!
