Service is slow. They forgot to provide napkins or spoons for us, but our order is a takeout. We expect better experience

I love NM food. Been eating in this state for 20 years. Chips were thick and chewy (not good). Service was good. I had the carne adovado burrito with rice and beans. The burrito had mostly rice and beans with rice and beans on the side. It was just ok same with everything else. The view of the city was great

What a missed opportunity. Great setting. But... Loud "atmosphere", awful service (I was a server for years) very mediocre food, high prices, I could go on. And I will.... We arrived before the dinner rush, waited 10 minutes before a sever took the drink orders, waited 20 minutes to have our food orders taken, food was not good but not horrible. Our server was not attentive all evening and watched as my preschool age son spilled water and ice all over the table AND THEN WALKED AWAY! Nobody offered to help in any way. Not a single extra napkin was brought or offered. No towels, nothing. Seriously?! So, do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere. Like the grill at the bottom of the hill or anywhere else. Do. Not. Go. Here.

Very nice hostess. Average server. They had a few issues with the restaraunts.com coupon we were using at first. We had to wait for them to confirm that ours was valid. Then they couldn't figure out how to use it. Meanwhile I was thirsty and had a hard time getting the waiters attention for water. The food was a very good, yet typical american style Mexican food. Nothing to call home about. There are better restaurants in Albuquerque but the view was nice none the less.

WARNING: TOURIST TRAP. As a native Hispanic New Mexican i have to say that this is a terrible restaurant. So bad that the only reason I signed up for Yelp! was so I could warn people about this place. The only reason it is still open is because 1. it is near the tram, so tourists will eat here and 2. because of the amazing view of the city. The waiter was very nice, the drinks were average, but the food was BAD. If this restaurant was placed anywhere else in Albuquerque, with no view, it would not last. The chips tasted stale. The guac was definitely the bland packaged stuff you can buy at walmart, most other restaurants in town make it from scratch. The steak tampiquea was awful. The steak was not cooked well and not seasoned. The green chile was canned. I'm sorry, but this is New Mexico; canned chile at a restaurant is a sacrilege. The "creamy" sauce was not creamy. It was watery and milky. I didnt know that I was ordering milk steak. The clabacitas were not bad but the watery juice made the plate unappetizing. And to top it off, instant mashed potatoes. Sitting in watery milky juice. I couldnt even take more than a few bites of the plate. I asked for something else and the waiter happily accommodated me. I asked for tacos instead. Who can mess up a taco, right? The taco shells were the cheap kind you can buy at walmart....really people? Every other restaurant in Alb at LEAST deep fries corn tortillas if they dont make the shells from scratch. The beef was dry. Oh, i forgot to mention, we also had the pleasure of being accompanied by dead flies on our window seal. I will never go here again. And if you want a good taste of Albuquerque I beg of you to go ANYWHERE else in town. Otherwise you will leave our great city with an impression that we make crappy food. And that is just not the case.

The food was great, our waiter was not. He came to our table thirty minutes after being seated and got our drink order. Brought the drinks about ten minutes later and got our food and appetizer order and then we didn't see him again. Someone else brought all of our food and we waited and waited for drink refills or even our ticket... it never came we ended up having to go ask for the ticket. For being a "nicer" restaurant I was really disappointed.

Our group of four wanted to take the tram and have dinner, so we decided on Sandiagos before dinner. We mad reservations, but didn't really need them. The dining room was colorful and spacious with large windows for the beautiful view. We could have sat on the porch, but the gnats were out, so we decided on a window table. Our server, Isaiah, was funny and very good! He gave us time to just sit and have margaritas while enjoying the view and conversation. When we ordered, he gave suggestions based upon our likes. I chose the Biztec Tajada, a lime marinated steak. My companions all had more traditional enchilada dishes, and they enjoyed them immensely. My steak was delicious, tender, and prepared just as I ordered it. The black beans, of which I'm a devotee of, were also perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, the margaritas delicious, and the service extremely compensation and entertainingly! We would go back again and again just for dinner, although the tram ride just before sunset was the icing on the cake!

Ordered the enchiladas, food was good, tortillas weren't fried, but the food was on the cold side

I have been here a couple of times before, and I have to say- Sandiago's is always a delicious experience. We started off with margaritas. I had a top shelf, traditional margarita which was tasty. My friend ordered a coconut margarita, and asked for a scoop of raspberry sorbet to top it off. Yumm!! Our entrees were the salmon with a pepper relish and green rice and black beans, and the scallops in a cream sauce. I loved the salmon with the sides, and my friend was kind enough to give me a taste of her scallops. Wow, were they delicious! They were perfectly cooked and the sauce was very flavorful. I plan to order the scallops the next time I eat here. Our waiter was attentive, but let us talk and eat in peace. It's on the more expensive end, but well worth it!! I recommend making reservations during peak dinner hours- it gets packed before sunset because of the beautiful views of the city.

I came here with friends to watch the sunset and have some drinks. We sat outside in April on a windy day so it was nice for a little bit, but after a while we transitioned to the bar inside. There are no heat lamps if you sit outside, so come prepared with a coat/shawl/scarf! The margaritas were okay. Once we sat at the bar, they were much stronger. We tried the blood orange, the mango, and the house margarita. If you go with their silver coin, you will be more than satisfied. They add sorbet to the mango margarita and it is a nice treat. But like many of the other reviewers, I will say that the mango margarita is very sweet. We're going to come back for dinner. The food looked and smelled delicious.

Went here recently with a large group. Having done more than my fair share of serving, I know a large group is challenging becauase it always seems like as soon as you bring someone a drink the next person in line decides they're ready for *their* next drink too....you never have enough time! That being said, they had plenty of advance notice that we were coming and although the servers weren't rude, and actually were pretty good keeping drinks filled, they seemed like they would rather be doing anything else in the world rather than serve us. The food was really good....actually surprisingly good considering everything else. The view is pretty but the view at Jinja on the west side might be better. The hostesses are casually dressed kids with funky attitudes. In fact the general attitude of the waitstaff makes you think they've been kidnapped from small towns in new mexico and are now living in a compound, forced to work Sandiagos. It's weird and kind of depressing... With at least one great cook in the kitchen, and a super fun location/view, I don't understand why the management wouldn't put a little more effort into their staff - if you treat your staff well it'll show in the service ! I can only surmise they must treat them poorly :( This place has a TON of potential...which is sadly wasted. When I have guests in from out-of-town, there are many other fantastic restaurants in Albuquerque/Santa Fe that I would bring them instead.

We had a great dinner with friends while watching a beautiful sunset over Albuquerque. The food & drinks were very good & we will continue to return! Complimentary chips, salsa & pico de gallo were tasty but we really enjoyed their Queso dip made with real, gooey cheese. Their premium margaritas were excellent and although there is a full bar they don't have beers on tap - so they serve bottled beer with an ice cold glass. Everyone devoured their food so it was very tasty without a doubt. My Bistec Tajada was done just as I asked (medium) and was delicious!

went to ride the sandia peak tramway and stumbled upon this place to grab a bite. the line was long because of the weekend and festival and the restaurant offered to buy tickets and dine with them instead of waiting in line which we jumped on immediatley since it was around lunch time. place served surprisingly good fare. loved the hot southwestern chowder and the enchiladas were good too. sat outside and the view was beautiful...recommend patio seating to take in the views.

You pay for the view! The drinks specials are amazing. Margaritas and yummy drinks. The view is absolutely amazing. I have here twice, both times my food has been sooooo dry and even the sauce they want to put on the tacos is not very good. So good thing chips and salsa are free. :o)

Great place to have a drink and watch the sunset. Fantastic views! Good menu with lots of variety. I've only been here for drinks and snacks, but plan to head back for dinner sometime. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The restaurant is situated where the trams to the Sandia Mountains takeoff from Albuquerque. Place was PACKED for a Friday early evening dinner. Girlfriend and I came to grab some food and watch the sunset. We were seated near a window and they had these huge shades that would block the sunlight from your eyes. When the sun began setting, they pulled up the shades so you could watch. It's a decent view, but a tad overrated. Anyways...the food was not very good. Chips + salsa were meh, and my beef enchiladas were disappointing. Granted, portions were pretty large though. Had a coconut margarita, and my girlfriend had a mango margarita. They look super awesome, but don't taste all that great. All in all, an OK place. You really just go there for the view, and even that is just so-so.

Thought we would eat before we went to the top. Delicious food but way too much for one. The fish tacos were really good but 3 tacos for lunch was a but much. Larry had eggs and still couldn't eat it all.

  • Amy W.

I'm only giving Sandiago's two stars for the view. That's it. It's a tourist trap in the extreme, and people probably only go to it because it's at the tram. Mediocre service - the restaurant wasn't even that busy, and our waitress still couldn't be bothered to stop by more frequently. My dad remarked that he's had better Mexican frozen dinners than the food they served us, and I think that's the best way to sum up our experience.

  • Ryan H.

Sandiago's has an amazing location, and decent food. Eating at one of the outside tables is def the way to go, and the service is excellent. I went and had quesadillas which were good, but somewhat avg.

  • J. Christopher E.

As noted by others , the food is pretty good and if you can get a table on the patio it's one of the best places in Alb to watch the sunset. Seems like you can call and request a table on the patio and they will try but don't guarantee to hold you a spot. Otherwise, you show up and they said on a Friday the wait for a patio spot could be about 1/2 hour. My friend and I shared the fish tacos and had a couple of margaritas. As long as you're not starving, one plate is plenty of food for 2.

We went to Sandiago's for a small family celebration. In addition to the great view you get while dining, the restaurant offers a nice varied menu of items you would want to see at a Mexican grill, including a vegetarian dish that was ordered and enjoyed by two in our party. The restaurant is lively and it feels like everyone is having a great time. The grilled fish tacos I had were flavorful and the serving was very generous. The guacamole appetizer was very good. Excellent triple chocolate cake. Excellent service throughout our dinner.

Go 30 minutes before sunset for the best view in town of the city! Food is a little overpriced, but the location makes up for it.

This past weekend a bunch of us hiked up La Luz, took the tram back down and needed to refuel after 4 hours of our strenuous workout. High Finance had a 30 minute wait for a group of 11 people, so we decided to take a chance and try Sandiago's at the bottom of the tram without reserving a table. Luckily, we were able to get seated, no problem. THE GOOD: - Less crowded than High Finance, didn't have a problem getting a table (even for 11 people). - They had really good chips/salsa! I don't know if it was because we had just hiked La Luz for 4 hours, but those chips/salsa were the bomb! - The food is pretty decent. The shredded beef enchiladas, green chile rice and beans were pretty good. - The view of Albuquerque from the restaurant is pretty sweet, especially if you get a table outside. THE BAD: - We had to wait a LONG TIME to get the check and the place wasn't even busy. There were a few other tables being waited on but that's it. - The shredded beef was like long strips of beef tenderloin. They should have cut and shredded the beef more. Some of us were wrestling with our shredded beef during our meal. We were already tired from our hike and just wanted to eat so it kind of bummed us out. I ended up wrapping my beef around my fork like spaghetti and ate it that way, which seemed to work better than trying to saw through it with my butter knife. ALL-IN-ALL: The view is awesome! The food is okay, but there are definitely better places to get Mexican food and you might have to wait a while before getting your check.

Visiting Albuquerque for work, a local co-worker recommended going here for dinner. A must do - come here for the sunset, it's an absolutely stunning view! If you like margaritas, I have 2 great recommendations. The refreshing blood orange margarita and the creamy rich coconut margarita (with roasted coconut crumbles around the rim). The chips and salsa were never ending and everyone's plates seemed to turn out well and delicious...and pretty sizable...so bring your appetite! Although Albuquerque is known for their green chile, my bistec tajada dish didn't have any, but I was anything but disappointed!

Honestly, our plan was to eat at High Finance on top of the peak - but slow service, bugs and the fact that there was no view from the restaurant, made us reconsider. So glad we did because at Sandiago's back on the base, we had some amazing nachos!

Dinner at Sandiago's Grill tonight was excellent. Even without a colorful sunset dinner at Sandiago's was most enjoyable. The queso was rich and flavorful and my steak was cooked perfectly. All of the wait staff were prompt and personable.

The 4 stars are an average of the food (3.5) and the experience (5). Located at the base of the Sandia Peak Tram, it's difficult to beat the view from the tables on the deck or window seats. Daytime (nice), sunset (spectacular), and night lights (excellent). If you can't get one of those seats, spend time walking out front and soak it all in. The food ranges from average to a couple of very good dishes. Kind of a New Mexican restaurant but not green/red crazy like most of Albuquerque. The three of us sat watching the sunset while eating: Beef and Chicken tacos (good) - better with the hard shell than the soft. Fish Tacos (nice) - a dish I enjoyed Steak Tamsomething - which was smothered in a chile sauce. It was cooked perfectly to temperature and pretty tasty. It was also the most expensive dish of the 3. Good margarita, but a little on the pricy side (gotta pay for that view). Service was friendly and fast and the place has a nice vibe to it. I definitely recommend Sandiago's if you have friends in from out-of-town. There may be better places to eat, but no better places to enjoy a meal while you catch one of the best views of town.

I found this place to be quite tasty! I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green chile and their green rice ( Im a born southern californian, and I can never get enough cilantro) The complimentary chips and salsa are delightful. Light, a little puffed, and crispy. Not too oily at all. We ordered a side of guac that was tasty as well. Definitely a future choice for an evening of Margaritas and Mexican! Great with the ambiance too of course. I ordered the house Margarita on the rocks with salt and it was perfect! Great place for out of town visitors!

We just had the best time here over this past weekend. Restaurant was clean, views were amazing, service was impeccable and timely, drinks were tasty and food was DELISIOUS! I will definitely be going back soon. I don't know why I don't come here more often...

We were in town on business and came here with a rather large party. First, if you're visiting Albuquerque, you should go. Despite the not-amazing food and a bit of a drive, it's a great experience. Why only two stars (well, really 2.5)? - The service isn't great...in fact it's lacking quite a bit - The view is spectacular - sit on the patio if you can - Parking is a bit tough - shared lot with the Sandia Tramway - Blood Orange margarita is really good - No beer on tap - The food itself is really lacking...they try to pull off all of the local/regional favorites....but they're done quite poorly - Chips and salsa are yummy I'm glad we went but I'm happy with my one time experience.

I had every intention on eating at High Finance at the top of the Tram but I chickened out at the last minute so we ended up eating at Sandiago's at the bottom of the Tram. This was my first time in Albuquerque and I had already eaten a lot of Mexican food. However, the best meal I had eaten in NM so far was at Sandiago's. It was fresh, plentiful, and the price was right. But the most spectacular thing was the view of the sun setting behind the mountains. It will leave you breathless. So if you get to the Tram and chicken out like I did don't fret because you didn't make it to the top of the mountain eat at Sandiago's.

The place looks empty compared to the long line to the tram! Lol The Sandia Mountains Air Tram is the longest in the Western world. The guide said she heard of a tram that was a little longer than Sandia, but it was in Estonia. The Mexican fare is only good, but there are few choices sometimes. At least the view is stunning. Yelp 365 Challenge: 53/365

Beautiful views and atmosphere on the patio on a cool stormy night. This is the only reason I gave it a 2 star. I waited 35 minutes for a frozen then fried fish taco on a Monday, we wanted to order something else but did not want to wait for another 30 minutes. good thing they gave me free chips and salsa! The servers were nice and helpful but I am sure someone knew our meal was taking too long a four top right next to us who's order was taken after us ate first. Just because I don't order a bunch of alcohol or a bunch of food does not mean I should be treated like nothing. I always tip well, feeling disappointed!

I had one night in the ABQ and of course I wanted the best experience and I found it. 1. They had the best coconut margarita ever. I always bring up this margarita whenever the word coconut or margarita comes into play but can you blame me? It was sooooo good. 2. The view in the desert as the sun is coming down is amazing. It was worth getting lost just for the view. 3. The food was good. I wouldn't consider it mexican..more like nuevo mexican...but it was good. Interesting green rice.

This place is located below the Sandia Mountains, just where the Tramway begins. We went up to the mountain first and enjoyed the veiw for the mountain. We went to Sandiago's for lunch. We ordered the coconut margaritas, which were good. I wouldnt say they are the best EVER... The food was also OK. I wasnt too impressed with the food, drinks or service but the view is nice if you are able to sit outside.

Upon first walking up to the deli I did not have high expectations. It is at the bottom of a big tourist attraction, the Sandia Tram. It is grab and go kinda food and I expected to be able to get sandwhiches for my group to take in the tram and eat at the top of the mountain, but, alas, no food is allowed on the tram so we had to eat when we came back down. The customer service was not good. Twice the cashier walked away as soon was we tried to order. Then someone else took our order, all the while complaining that the original cashier was supposed to be doing it. Then they were out of a bunch of stuff we ordered and they had to come out and ask what substitutions we wanted. Then when the food came out, they couldn't remember who ordered what, and it was served on styrofoam. But then I tasted the chili stew and everything else melted away. It was SO yummy! Perhaps the best food I had in Albuquerque, though the list of places I tried is VERY short.

  • Alex Z.

I came here because the restaurant is on New Mexico's Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail, and found out after I go there that the burger is on the lunch menu only. I had a bowl of green chile stew instead, which was solid but pretty expensive for what you get. The food is generally good, just overpriced and a bit slow to come out.

Located at the base of the Sandia Peak tramway, I initially had reservations about this restaurant being kind of a tourist trap establishment. But, was pleasantly surprised with the quality. The thing that impressed me the most were their chips and salsa. I love it when you can see the grease on the chips and they're still warm. The salsa was also good and had chunks of tomatoes in it, which I'm a big fan of. I tried their shrimp pesto and the shrimp were a nice size and the side of vegetables, which included green chile, were very good. A good place to eat after your trip on the tramway. They're also known for having good margaritas, but the location is what makes this restaurant stand out.

Santiago's may have good food. I never found out because they were so slow bringing food that I never got mine. We were a large group (40) that had reservations. There was a 90 minute gap between when the first plates arrived and the last. The staff was unapologetic and rude

I don't know how to make this sound not racist but I was worried about eating here as soon as I saw that there was no Mexican/Hispanics in the kitchen. K call me a biggot but I was proven right as soon as I got my meal. It was disgusting. Burnt tostadas, the carne adovada was just too gross to eat after 1-2 bites, nasty jalapeño dressing that this restaurant was obvious "proud" of, and it seemed like jalapeños were the only spicy thing the cooks knew of. Yeah the chips, salsa, and guacamole were good but I didn't come here to eat just chips right? 2 stars because of the salsa and the view is pretty. Our waitress was efficient enough but she lacked so much personality she made us feel awkward. I feel pretty hopeless that there's no good Mexican places in New Mex. Any tips would be appreciated.

Well I'm basing my review on the chips and salsa and AWESOME coconut margaritas ONLY. My group of 4 met here and had the coconut margaritas and chips and salsa before riding the tram to the top for dinner. My first margarita was the frozen one - the way they come served, but the next few the bartender made on the rocks at my request and they were delicious! In my experience, you can never really taste the alcohol in a frozen margarita, but here you can and that's a plus! The way they make the margaritas here are really cool...they roll the rim of the glass in honey and then in toasted coconut, I didn't want to look like a fool, but I couldn't resist licking the rim of the glass! The prices weren't too bad and the chips and salsa were very good. The waitstaff was very nice and attending. The hostess gave us the perfect table right before sunset on the deck overlooking the city. We will definitely be back!

If you are going to eat here, come at sunset. Its a show stopper. If you can get a table outside on the patio, take it. I was on vacation here a few weeks ago, and my aunt treated me to dinner at this restaurant. The food was good. A little nuevo latino with a touch of New Mexico. I would recommend starting out with the chips and guacamole. Its so good that you may end up filling yourself up with stuff. I then had the plantain wrapped halibut, I was trying to eat healthy. It was good, but I wish that I had ordered the pollo adobo instead. My cousin had that and loved it. Then we had desert, I don't remember what it was, so that should tell you how great it tasted. Over all though, good dinner. The stinker here is the service. Slow, and hard to get. So be prepared to wait on anything you order.

Unexpectedly delicious and wonderfully surprising, Sandiago's turned out to be a great first meal of my spring break trip. They start you out with their chips and salsa which I warn you are incredibly addicting. The food was prepared quickly, especially considering the large amount of people who exited the tram and went right to the restaurant. To top it all off the waitress was extremely friendly and even gave us three to go containers of their chips for free when all we asked for was a box for those left at our table. The only thing that I thought could be improved upon was their lack of local craft beer choices I expected a place like this to have.

I've been here twice and the view when the sunset is awesome . The second time I went during restaurant week and I was totally embarrassed of their food when I was raving to my boyfriend that the fish tacos were amazing. First off, order the Baha fish tacos with Grilled Halibut, it is by far 100x's better than the fried fish tacos with Pollock. The Fried crunchy fish is worse than Long John Silver's fried fish..... But not to worry...the coconut margaritas will help you wash them down.

One of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. The food was basically inedible (a chicken with pineapple salsa and stacked portobello dishes) with the exception of the white sangria...but I did not intend to "drink" my dinner. We had made reservations and requested to be seated at a window in order to view the sunset, only to have a waiter (other than ours) tell us he needed to pull down the shades because the sun was in the eyes of the people he was serving. When we objected to having our view obstructed, he said we could raise them once the sun had set! Seriously??? We also observed and overheard three other patrons returning their meals because they were so unsatisfactory. Save your money and catch the beautiful view elsewhere.

One of my favorite places. This place is located at the base of the Tram. You won't find better views of Albuquerque. They are only open for dinner. They OCCASIONALLY close for special events, so always call in advance. Depending on where you're coming from, it's about a 20-minute drive. Order the chips and guacamole as an appetizer. The salsa is also very good. I always order the "Pollo Adobo." It's a grilled chicken dish served with fresh asparagus. They have wonderful margaritas. The atmosphere is very fun and festive. Sadly, not even many people in New Mexico know about it. One of my friend's got married on the Tram and we had her wedding party here. The staff was just excellent!

went to ride the sandia peak tramway and stumbled upon this place to grab a bite. the line was long because of the weekend and festival and the restaurant offered to buy tickets and dine with them instead of waiting in line which we jumped on immediatley since it was around lunch time. place served surprisingly good fare. loved the hot southwestern chowder and the enchiladas were good too. sat outside and the view was beautiful...recommend patio seating to take in the views.

Sandiago's has an amazing location, and decent food. Eating at one of the outside tables is def the way to go, and the service is excellent. I went and had quesadillas which were good, but somewhat avg.

The view from the patio was by far the highlight of the dinner. Margaritas are a bit sweet for my taste, but not bad. We had chicken nachos and shrimp mariscos for apps. The nachos weren't super exciting, but nothing to complain about. The chicken was moist and well seasoned. The shrimp was also just ok... For my entree, I had the Bistec Tajada (lime and cilantro marinated steak) with beans and rice. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and had nice flavor from the marinade. The entree was indeed quite delicious. I'm between 2-3 stars simply because the service is absolutely horrific. It just blows my mind that such a unique building in such a prime location doesn't focus on quality service. Our waiter was completely unprofessional, inattentive, forgetful, and really seemed disinterested in being there. I wish so badly that both of these Tram restaurants would put some love and passion and PRIDE into representing our exciting New Mexican cuisine. I hate to think of how many people from out of town are subjected to these sad examples. I would recommend this place for the drinks and the view, but I'm not sure the main course was worth the wait.

We ate here recently while visiting some friends who live in the area. The views are great! Definitely recommend sitting on the patio if you can (it was a little cool so we stayed inside) as the views of the city/valley are really nice. For a restaurant at a tourist attraction, the food was suprisingly good! It's a little pricey since your paying for the location/view but I didn't mind since the food was actually pretty nice. I really liked the crispiness of the plantains in the Plantain Wrapped Sea Bass, it went very nicely with the fish. The fish itself was really good and so was the cilantro rice. My wife had the Baja Tacos, they were good but nothing special. Our friends all had steaks (Grilled New York Steak, Bistec Tajada and Steak Tampiquena). They seemed to enjoy them and all were cooked according to request. Overall, considering the location/view and pretty good food, I would recommend a visit. Positives: Pretty good food, with some dishes being really good. Outstanding view/location. Negatives: Pricey, but you are paying for the view/location.

I've been here twice. It is definitely one of the best places to watch the NM sunset. (Hmm maybe I'll make a list called that.) The food is good and the margaritas are great. It's never been very busy when I have gone there so getting a table with a view has been pretty easy. I wouldn't say the food is amazing (there is definitely better southwestern food in NM) but its consistent and solid. Tip: the chips and salsa are very good!

Absolutely AMAZING flavorful food! We ate here for valentines day it was so romantic to see the sunset over the entire city, they also gave all the ladies roses, so sweet! The margaritas were on point and the food was spectacular definitely a must if you like Mexican food!

First off, amazing view from the outside patio. You should go 45 mins before sunset. The food was mediocre. The chips were good. The pico was wonderful, the salsa to spicy for me. I had the steak tempiquena. The meat was cooked well, but there was so much else going on on top and around it. Cheese, vegs, beans, corn, sauce. The mash potatoes were good. I finished off with what the waitress described as a brownie a la mode. The ice cream was good. It had Carmel and whip cream as well. The brownie was more like a cake. Overall it was good. The view of the sunset was the best part.

We walked in at 7pm on a Saturday night without a reservation. The host told us that the wait time was 25 minutes, so we agreed to have a drink at the bar while we waited. We sat maybe 15 feet from the host desk, easily visible. The margaritas were tasty... very sweet, but interesting flavors. The bartender was great. After sitting there for 40 minutes (including making eye contact with the host) we finally went to ask her what had happened. She told us that she called our name a long time ago. WTF? If no one responds and you know that we're sitting a few feet away waiting, try a little harder and come get us! You're not doing your job. We were finally sat at the table furthest from the view. We order fired immediately. In that situation I expect to receive my food in half an hour. It took 45 minutes to get a portabella stack, on an extremely hot plate, and a chewy bistec tejada. This tells me that the mediocre mushroom dish was sitting under the heat lamp for a long time and the steak was left on the grill for too long (or pre cooked and recooked multiple times). The waiter did not come back to ask how our food was until it was time for the check. We complained, and received 20% off the price of the food... but that was not nearly enough to make up for the experience. It took 1.5 hours from the time that we walked in to get worse than average food and service. If you're dead set on going to Sandiago's, make a reservation for a table on the deck but ONLY order a drink. Don't bother with a full meal.

The only reason to visit Sandiago's is to have a drink and watch the beautiful New Mexico sunset. Their food is not just mediocre, it is just plain bad and way overpriced. I had the shredded beef tacos, and my dining companions had the fish tacos and the carne adovada tacos. All of the meat was overly dry. I had to pick most of mine out of my tacos, it was that bad. Also, the service was slow as molasses. One good thing is that if you order an entree and show your itemized receipt when purchasing a tram ticket, the cost is $15 instead of $20. But still, I would recommend skipping dinner and just ordering an appetizer and drinks to take in the gorgeous view.

We originally intended to eat at High Finance on top of the mountain...but their power went out while we were up there and they had to close. So it was down the mountain to Sandiago's for lunch instead. The food was pretty good. I got the portabella stack and it was quite yummy. The margarita was pretty meh...and took foreverrrrr to be made. Service left a lot to be desired. Very, veeeery slow. And forgetful feeling. So if you want to eat at the tramway, its one of your two choices. Just don't expect it be be timely.

Location is 5 stars, lovely sunset views of ABQ. Service was ok, we had a new guy who seemed nervous most of the time and he was a bit clumsy as he kept dropping things. Food was mediocre at best. I had the swordfish which was small and didn't standout as a great seafood dish. My fiance had the taco salad and didn't finish it because it was spiky lettuce with minimal chicken. My Marble wheat beer was delicious, but I will not be eating here again.

The only thing this place has going for it is the amazing view. I would at most order drinks and some apps here to view the cityscape but skip having dinner here. It's sad there isn't a great place at the top or the bottom of the tramway to eat! I got the coconut margarita and enjoyed the creative toasted coconut rim in place of salt/sugar. But the actual drink itself tasted like artificial flavors which gave me a slight upset stomach. The sea scallops my friend had were gritty from being not properly washed. The mashed potatoes on the side tasted like sawdust. Dry and lacking in flavor. Chicken was dry, commented by another friend. I had the green chile stew with beef which I found not bad. I think maybe the best dish of the table. I packed up the stew in a to go container but forgot and didn't go back to get it so I guess that telling of how I felt about the dish!

I had a late morning blood orange margarita here and it was beautiful thing. This is a fantastic place and I can't wait to come back very soon. Charm for days. The award winning view is a major perk! Come here for a first date or second or 100th! Ride the tram and enjoy a cocktail while you are at it. (which I plan on doing again asap)

I have been here twice (both with family that was visiting). You can't beat the view that is for sure. As far as the food, I ordered the Tres Queso Relleno both times, it encrusted in pecan and it is awesome. I honestly have to say I have yet to find a better Chile Relleno since I moved here. It is a little pricey, but it is a tourist spot so I can handle that. Our service has been fine, not outstanding but okay. I would love to get the nerve to go on the tram, but I am a chicken!

This place has two things going for it, the view and the Tecate. Everything else here is an extremely poor excuse for food. The taco shells are those crappy ones you get from Smith's and the red chile was probably made from a powder substance. My sister and I did not even finish our food. Do yourself a favor and just order booze and take in the view of ABQ. Eat before or after.

Had a business associate in from out of town last night and thought we'd give the view one more try. Beef Enchiladas w an egg and green was good. The service was quick. Still can't find a better view for the price and quality. Gorgeous sunset.

Do. Not. Go. Here.

Way better than High Finance...beautiful view, great service, great food, and you get a discounted tram ride if you eat here first!

3.5 for food, 5 for service and 5 for the view. Very relaxing and just breathtaking view.

Beautiful views and delicious food. The guacamole is fabulous. Being an out of towner it was quite a fun experience.

I really enjoyed the margaritas, food and atmosphere; however, my service was lukewarm at best.

Absolutely AMAZING flavorful food! We ate here for valentines day it was so romantic to see the sunset over the entire city, they also gave all the ladies roses, so sweet! The margaritas were on point and the food was spectacular definitely a must if you like Mexican food!

the food was ok. the price was very expensive for what you get. Its a tourist trap for the visitors who come ride the tram. Great view and good place to wait for the tram if it shuts down for a couple hours due to adverse weather.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
