Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I think with Sadie's you either love it or you don't. Sadly I fall in the camp of those who don't love it. The portions are very generous but it is somewhat expensive for New Mexican food especially in a town where if you throw a rock you will probably hit a New Mexican restaurant. The food is well seasoned but just doesn't seem that fresh. Everything is topped with a tremendous amount of cheese and sometimes you are not quite sure what you are eating. The Chile has some heat which is great but its hard to tell the difference between the green and the red chile visually because the green Chile is tomato based. What improved the experience for me was the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service. The restaurant looks like it was recently renovated (unlike the Eubank Sadies) and the service was nearly perfect. Our waiter was prompt in filling classes and didn't miss up a single special order even though every person at the table had special requests. I might go back but I definitely have my other favorites in town.

For those of us who know Sadie's new locations are a hit and miss. My family and I decided to try this location because it was more centrally located for all of us. My boyfriend and I arrived 30 min early and we still received top notch service Olivia our server greeted us right away and her assistant Taylor had chips and salsa in hand. Even though we sat for over 30 min waiting for the rest of our party of six to show our glasses where never empty and neither was our chips and salsa. As the rest of our party arrived they where greeted immediately and given an additional chips and salsa, even though by this time the dinning room was packed with large parties. I was so pleased. I ordered a craft of Margaritas and we put our food order in, everything was served in a timely manner we all had plenty to drink and the food was amazing and such large portions. I ordered the Chulupa dinner and had enough left over for breakfast skillets the next morning. My boyfriend ordered the green chile cheese burger with chips and cleaned his plate. Everyone one loved their food and we had two other people take to-go boxes. They sang Happy Birthday to my mom and gave her fried ice cream. (She had never had it before.) We all left a little fatter and very happy what a wonderful family dinner!! Thank you Olivia and Taylor you made our nights!!!!

Had a great time last night. Delicious food to go around. Had the chalupa with ground beef and a roy rogers. Will be coming back.
(5)Varun R.
Been there a couple of times and we loved the service each time! The waiters were awesome, gave us great choices and suggestions. We loved the food and I am a huge fan of their red chilli. The fried ice cream was awesome too. One thing you have to be aware of though is that their portion sizes seemed huge to me! So u need to be ready to share/take to go/eat till u r really really full! (I usually end up doing the latter!)

I reviewed this once before. Choosing not to repeat the same complaints many others had. After being harassed by a family member. My review was later removed for not being specific enough. So I'm going to fix that now. I've had to eat here a few times when family wanted to go. The service is consistantly poor. I feel like it is an inconvenience to the staff to be eating there. The resturant was never "packed" but the wait for a table (or a staff member to show up) is slow. The tables have that "perminent sticky" feeling, and the whole place could do with a deep scrub. The wait staff is lack luster. You have to ask for refils, you have to ask for your bill. The food, though touted as an Albuquerque favorite, I would not recommend to someone from out of town. It is your typical, under seasoned "schlop on a plate." I frankly don't get what all the buzz is about. The pricing is reasonable and there are always leftovers. I might have returned if family made me. But between the harassment and the targeting of my last review, I'll be very vocal to anyone I speak with, not to go here.

I tried Sadie's because of ABQ turned PHX Yelper Megan E.'s glowing review! It was Cinco de Mayo and I had just finished meeting with clients. Had some time before the flight home, and I wanted some Mexi-grub! Walked in just after 1 and it wasn't too busy. Forgot the name of the gent who was my server that day, but he did an excellent job keeping my water glass full and running his section. The housemade chips and salsa were excellent! Just the right texture and plenty spicy. Pretty much did a backflip when I saw it being sold in Frys and Wal-Mart stores around metro Phoenix. Had to be mindful not to fill up on those, because HOLY SMOKES the portions here are ridiculous. Ordered the two relleno lunch plate Christmas style. So much food, beans, rice, papas ... Was only able to down one of the rellenos and that pillow soft sopapilla. The relleno was crispy and not eggy like I've come to expect from these kind of places. My pro tip? Definitely order a la carte unless you have a ginormous appetite. Have to knock a star off because I wasn't able to detect any Green Chile on the rellenos, but overall, solid dining experience at Sadies.
(4)Vicki S.
I love Sadies, but the one here on Academy is just awful. I ordered the chile relleno dinner with green on the side and a dinner salad with the house lemon and oil dressing. The avocado on the salad was half brown....why didn't the server notice this??? The beans and potatoes were dry and crusty looking and the cheese on relleno was cold and already starting to firm back up! I will never be back here, I will drive a little farther to go to the one on 4th street. The 2 stars is because the jalapeño cucumber margarita was great.
(2)Hugo M.
This was our first visit to Sadie's at this location and we were impressed. The quality of the food is high and is every bit as good as the original location. Service was friendly and attentive with the added bonus of not being as crazy crowded as the original.
(4)William C.
Well when one wants the mother of all nachos, (MOAN) Sadies is hard to top. We ordered a large nachos half and half- they brought a mountain of nachos- a huge plate to be sure. The staff were great! They offered consistent service and had a fantastic attitude! The nachos came hot with melted cheddar as opposed to the nacho cheese like sauce that can hijack a tortilla chip. Topped with a generous amount of sour cream, and layered with the ingredients dispersed evenly through the chips, the execution was solid. That said we opted for shredded beef and chicken. They were both slightly on the dry side. The really nice detail was the use of fresh jalapeños that added the right amount of spice to the light and crunchy chips. I would order this again, but be warned- the large is enough for 4 easily!
(4)Eric S.
Not a big fan of Mexican food to begin with and this did not help. We have been to Sadies at a different local many times but felt like hitting this one since it was close to home. It started off good when the hostess seated just promptly and we were greeted by our waiter and took our drink orders. From there it headed south, no pun intended. When our meal finally arrived you could tell that the plates had been sitting under the hot lamp for quite some time as the beans were super dry and crusted over. Once our food arrived we hardly ever saw the waiter and asking for check it took a while to get. I think when we go to Sadie's we will stick to our original spot and go to the one that has served us well with great food.
(1)Tony W.
My favorite place to eat. The food is amazing The staff are incredible. I always get chile rellenos. The sopapillas are always fresh , hot and delicious, the honey is local. I love you Sadies!!!
(5)Rachael H.
I was disappointed in this choice of Sadie's. The front hostess table was so nice until they offered us a place to sit in the bar and then they quickly got "short" with me when I tried to explain that my parents are religious and don't like sitting in bars. My parents were celebrating their 50th Anniversary. When the manager told us that it would be 30 minutes longer to sit in a non-bar table (even though when we entered 30 minutes earlier, she said it wouldn't be an issue) we caved and sat in the bar area anyway. It took us about an hour to get our food which was obviously sitting under a heat lamp for several minutes because the plates were so hot! I suggested to my cousin that she get a taco because Sadie's makes their own taco shells which are normally delicious. Well, her taco shell was complete mush by the time we were served. They also served my 19 month old son a hot plate. Why would you send a hot plate out to a baby??? The chile was good to me but to my out of town cousins, it was too hot and they couldn't even eat their food. A warning from the wait staff should be given. Our server also tried to take our plates away before we were finished and before we ate our sopapillas. I suggest they tell their servers to let people eat their sopapillas before they take plates so we don't get honey everywhere. Anyway, I've had nothing but great experiences at the Sadie's on 4th but I don't think I'll be back to the one on Academy. It pales in comparison, and I'm bummed that we didn't make the longer drive for my cousins.
(2)Danielle S.
I really like Sadie's. The employees are always so friendly and ensure you're having a great experience. We ordered the chicken quesadillas and a stuffed sopapilla with ground beef. The portions here are so huge so we ate buffet style! We finished about half of both before we admitted defeat. Great salsa and I like the setup of the restaurant - good layout. I'll definitely be back!
(4)Teneha B.
I'm told the COMPLIMENTARY salsa is homemade, that garners a star all its own. Just to think someone somewhere is still fixing this up in a granny kitchen, is awesome. But don't take it lightly, because when they say it's hot, then actually mean hot like there's a "mini hell's fire" going on in your mouth that only a cessation from eating it will cool your mouth. Bad thing is, it has some addictive properties, because I couldn't stop eating. The food portions are GINORMOUS, I mean colossal, sharable, take home for left-overs size. I find the wait staff to be a little lacking; it took 10 minutes for me to get some water & salsa. When they finally came, it was 2 minors, 1 in training & 1 trainer, neither of which could serve alcohol; so here goes another 5 minute wait for someone who could serve an adult beverage, phew!!!! Finally got my margarita & tasty it was... YummmmmmY!!!!! Sopapillas to finish off the meal, "to go" please ma'am & I was outta there. I found the interior to be a little dated, maybe because this is the original location or so I'm told. The parking lot is expansive, so no issues there. Have fun, but be advised there may be a wait for a qualified server to get you some booze.
(3)Christina H.
I always love Sadie's. They still have the great food and margs from their original location. I've noticed the service is not as good at the Academy location. The hosts seat you right away but the waitstaff are slow and don't check on your enough to see if everything is okay. Also, the ambiance is not the same (for obvious reasons) as the original location. Still - the food and drinks are awesome and I'm glad there's one closer to me now.
(3)Christina S.
I LOVE SADIE'S! From their house-made salsa that sometimes I fill up on before I even get to my food because it's so good to the warm sopapillas and honey at the end of the meal and everything in between. The food is not only good but I don't know of anyone that has ever left hungry, plus, the margaritas are a nice addition. The food and service are always consistent, well-priced and the facility is great for larger parties. Always a great time!
(5)Valerie M.
Sadie's is consistently good. Good food. Good drinks. Good service. They are quick and accurate. We both had the lunch combo plate. A taco, relleno and enchilada for $8.95. We could have shared and been satisfied, but then I like leftovers when I get home late. I love their beans, not a huge fan of their papas... Salsa is fresh and usually has a good bite to it. Rellenos are HUGE, as is pretty much everything there, except their sopapillas. Which I was fine with today as my pants are getting tighter by the day and I find it abhorrent not to eat all the sopapillas. What I don't like: Sitting in the huge back room. It is cold and loud. The table we were at was against a wall and tiny, we had to put the table tent on the ground to make room to squeeze everything onto the table. The bathroom was messy. Other than that, had a great lunch with a beautiful date, what more could I ask for?
(4)Rhoda P.
Good was good but way to much sauce on it. Even my salad hot sauce on it. Could home back and try ordering with very light sauce.
(4)Christina C.
Good stuff. Not the best in town, but worth the stop if you're in the area. The chile here is not for the weak at heart. 3 out of 5 at the table could not tolerate it. The service is ok, nothing to write home about. Portions are huge; you will not leave hungry. Sopapillas are probably the best part of the meal (...aren't they always?)
(3)Brittney H.
First time going to Sadie's and I was extremely impressed. The whole staff was amazing, they knew exactly what we needed before we even thought it. Me and my family will definitely be back.
(5)Donovan W.
I hit this place for lunch with coworkers and usually split a small nacho with one other or a large nacho with three ppl. It's cheap, fast and I think the nachos are pretty decent compared to other places. The Billy's beef is the way to go. 10 bucks for the small (it's a lot of food) to feed two hungry men...not bad. The large portion is GINORMOUS! I really haven't had a bad experience at this location so they get 4 stars.
(4)Megan E.
I love Sadies! I moved to Arizona but everytime i come back home i have to come back and make my trip to Sadies :) The portions are huge and i usually just end up ordering my food ale-cart. My favorite are the chicken tacos... i cant get enough of them lol. This is actually my favorite location...call me crazy but i think the quality at this location is better than the others? This place can get busy but you usually get seated in a timely manor and the service is great too!
(5)Karen C.
Ordered Robertos special . Meat of very good quality and service was excellent. The chile sauce was spicy but not too spicy. And they pour a great margarita.
(4)Travel'en C.
Best chips and salsa in Albuquerque...hands down. We have other pretty cool places to eat NM food in Abq however, not all of them do it right in the "chips and salsa" department like Sadie's. Why would you put out store-bought Sysco/shamrock supplied chips when you can easily make your own? Sadie's does a great job in making a very simple but great tasting thin corn chip and paring it up with rock'en salsa. Amazing. The food portions are huge - they're known for this but once in a while, the carne and/or the chicken can taste a little bland/vanilla. Not are why, and I swear I'm not trying to be hypercritical, but why is this? I've eaten a lot of enchiladas and some places take the time to season/flavor the meat for the inside, not just relying on the sauce and cheese covering the food to showcase the flavor. That said, it's a good place to eat - Consistent and the service is always pretty solid. I've had a few bad servers but I wouldn't judge This place based on a few lazy people. For the most part, it's a great place to go for an easy NM meal. Great place to take hungry outta town-ers.
(4)Annette L.
We lived in NM for 6 years when the main location was on 4th. We returned for a wedding after 5 years away and heard mixed reviews - we were PLEASANTLY surprised. The service, food, location were all great. It's the kind of New Mexican food you would expect: great sauce (chile), large portions and a comfortable atmosphere. It seems to me that if you have concerns let them know so that you can shape this location into one that will be just as loved as the original.
(4)Ann M.
What a great meal. Had a great dinner at Academy last night. Fast service and almost immediate seating! It's a nice atmosphere and since we were in a hurry it was great to get in and out in an hour on a Saturday night! Best chicken burrito. Hot but not too hot. Plenty of chicken. Worth the calories.
(5)Jenn H.
People sure like to complain about Sadies. I can say I only eat the Nachos, chips and salsa, and house margaritas, and I've never had any issues. The house margaritas are a little better (stronger) at the 4th street location from my past experience and the bar is usually hoppin'. This location on Academy, seems to be more of a family vibe. I went there with my buddy just for wind down happy hour fun time. The nachos are HUGE! The small was way more than enough for the two of us. I LOVE their salsa...it has some BITE to it and the chips are always warm and toasty. (The jar salsa they sell in stores just isn't the same as fresh.) My margarita on this occasion was fine, $5 for a small. Mind you there is a difference in size and price here for their margaritas. Watch out...the fresh jalapenos in the nachos are usually tongue burning HOT! People have different tastes, different likes and dislikes, different expectations. I had GREAT company, great service, great nachos, and our total bill was $19 - Small chicken nachos, 2 alcohol drinks. I really couldn't ask for more. :D
(3)Christina P.
Great food!! Service was awesome!! I had a Sangria and it was wonderful..I had a lunch combination and it was great, the chicken taco was good and the chile rellano was fabulous , I can hardly wait to go back and get another rellano.. I forgot , their salsa was hot but very very good..

This location absolutely SAVED our 4th of July holiday! Get ready for a long story... We were on day 12 of a 14 day road trip, homeward bound when we decided to take a more southern route home from Las Vegas JUST to pass through Albuquerque to eat at Sadie's. We had been at the original Sadie's last year and although the place was packed and had poor building upkeep, we were in love with the food. I Google searched the number to Sadie's and called in advance to see if they were even open on Independence Day. I was told that they were open and until 11p.m. After hearing this good news, we decided to stay with family another night in Vegas knowing we could easily get to Sadie's before close on the 4th. Well, we arrive to a sign on the door of the original Sadie's saying they closed at 9p.m. because they were slow. I was outraged! I called back the same number and asked for the manager because I could see that employees were still in there closing down. It turns out that there are 4 locations and the one I called IS open until 11p.m. and they are only 10 minutes up the road. The manager who took my call was overly understanding and helpful despite my angry tone. We made it to this location 45 minutes before they closed but not a single person treated us like a burden. We had the best servers! Patrick and Antoinette rocked! They were both so attentive to our table and didn't rush us at all. We got a complementary dessert and never had to ask for drink refills. I tipped them 50% of our bill total because they were excellent servers, the food was delicious and they were working on a holiday. We even asked to speak to the manager to thank him for his help and tell him how amazing our service was overall. I can't say enough good things about this location. The building is SO clean and after being here, I can never go back to the old one.
(5)Berlinda A.
Totally disappointed there is nothing like the original on 4th st. The staff was just really rude. Took like 30 to get waited on just for water. Another 30 for our food order then another 30 to get our food. And they weren't even busy. We felt like we were discriminated against for being hispanic. When we called to complain to the manager, he just totally blew us off. We've never gone back since.
(1)Will L.
The customer service at this location is very poor. I requested that the garnish be placed on a side plate and the waitress told me that it wasn't going to happen. I will no longer patronize this location. The staff here do not offer service but think that the business is expected. The food is great.
(3)Kayne L.
I was delighted with the food and service. Portions were massive and chips, salsa and sopapillas came with the very reasonably priced meal. Sadie's on Academy is our new favorite Mexican restaurant.
(5)Johnny K.
Lots of critics about Sadie's/ I've been going to almost all the locations since the original in the Bowling Alley so yes, there are some changes, good days and bad days, some nights hot, some nights just not so hot. I'll still go back and take my friends. Salsa is a great highlight. Fresh. Margs...go for it. Academy is close to home, my neighbors say it's the best...they each have their own charm.
(5)Ang O.
Service was beyond bad! Food was good but couldn't overcome the horrific service. When we walked in SIX HOSTESSES were standing around up front. They seemed annoyed to be having to stop chatting to seat us. Then one of them walked us over to a small table. I asked if any of the half booth, half tables were available and she said "What? A six top?" and did not offer to move any of then two and four seat tables that were all empty apart or to seat us anywhere else. A young man came over to our table and said "Hi, how are you, can I get you something to drink?" So we gave him our drink orders and he said "Ok, I will get your server." What?! Then after quite a while our waitress came over and took our order. She brought us chips and salsa and then disappeared. For a long, long time. When finally came back we were out of water and chips and she informed us she would bring us a free side of gauc because she had LOST OUR ORDER. We ordered again. And waited, again. Our food came and was good but we had filled up on chips. So after waiting, again, for a long time we asked for boxes and for containers for our salsa and gauc. The waitress said "boxes for everything?" in a very put out way. After getting boxes we waited, AGAIN, for a long time for our check. On the way out the door not one of the six rude hostesses standing around said thanks for coming or told to have a good night. Very disappointing service.

Came here last week for dinner. The parking lot was FULL, and we were worried we wouldn't get a seat. Lo and behold, the inside of this Sadie's is ENORMOUS. We only had to wait 15 minutes at the bar to get seated. The service was perfect: attentive, but not overly attentive, caring, and interrupting only to do their job. I ordered the chile relleno with Christmas chiles. The relleno wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It kind of fell apart too easily. The stuff around the rellenos, the beans and rice and potatoes, however, were AWESOME! The green chiles, especially, are good here. I think this is a chain in ABQ, and not a bad one at that.
(4)Ashley H.
I'm a Texas girl and I love me some mexican food. This is some of the best I've ever had. Shredded beef brisket enchiladas are delicious. The salsa and chips they serve you when you are seated is so spicy and very tasty as well as the queso. I absolutely love the spice of the food!
(5)Rye B.
Stopped by for happy hour. just missed the deals which end at 6. house margaritas are good. ordered a small nachos with chicken - IT WAS MASSIVE. Enough food for four people easily. It was ok, but could have been fresher. Lots of leftovers.
(3)Justin V.
Got the Lunch Burrito Dinner plate with spicy beef, very good, great flavor, not too spicy. The chips and salsa were awesome as well.
(5)Kay R.
The worse Mexican food I ever had. Potatoes instead of Spanish rice. Hot, Hot Just not my kind of Mexican food
(1)Karen M.
So not impressed. We have been to the Sadie's on 4th Street a few times before so we decided to give this location a try. After a long day at the Outlet Mall in Santa Fe we were famished. The atmosphere is really nice. Good location easy to get to. We went at a time where they were not very busy. Our daughter ordered the Nachos off of the kids menu. I ordered the chicken taquitos. HB ordered the Combo enchilada and taco plate. The nachos really were a heap of chips with refried beans layered on top with cheese. Once she ate the first layer it was a plate of chips. My taquitos were not anything to write home about. Tasted like boiled chicken in a rolled greasy tortilla. the combo plate was mostly made up of beans and lettuce. For the meal we got it was definitely not worth the money. I felt like it was over priced. Don't plan on going back.
(2)Mark B.
Food was kind of tasteless, no bite with the chili. We've eaten at the 4th street and Santa Ana locations lots of times which were tasty and consistent. Probably won't hit this location on Academy again.
(2)Chris H.
Usually stop in this location for lunch. Recommend splitting a nacho or ordering the sliders - all ground beef with green baby. reasonable cost and yummy
(4)Sammie L.
I really don't understand what all the hype is about this place. I really want to like it! I have been here a few times with the hopes that my opinion will change, but, sadly, it never does. Yes, the portions are enormous, but I feel that the food is bland. And what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't serve rice! That is just odd to me. They do have good chips and salsa though, but I am not eager to return any time soon.
(2)Mark B.
Blah. After hearing such good things about Sadie's we decided to give it a try. I sure hope all Sadie's aren't like this location. Food was very mediocre, service was very very slow. Their red chili sauce was the worst I've had in ABQ (understanding this does come down to personal taste). All of us agreed that our dishes were very bland and lacked the characteristic complexity and highlights that usually make NM food fun and exciting. Cannot recommend.
(2)Sandy S.
Back again for a great dinner with friends. The margaritas were so good.
(5)Jamie R.
Oh Sadie's how I love thee! This was our first round at the new location and while it wasn't as spot on as 4th street, it was pretty close, so it seems they might be getting the hang of things here. Service was friendly, food (with all of the requested changes) was just as ordered, adult drinks were prompt, and the place was clean. We did have to ask a few times for more salsa but waters were consistently kept full. We ordered some of our favorites like the carne burrito and al acarte chicken and brisket tacos, sides of green and red (this allows you more of each, plus keeps the food from getting soggy because you add it as you want it); all were exactly as 4th street serves them. The salsa was a bit runnier than usual but maintained good heat level. Overall atmosphere is better than locations on Eubank, and 4th, especially the bar area; we were sat in a side corner area that wasn't too interesting but was nice and quiet.
(4)Lorna N.
How many times does a customer have to send back a plate to get it right? That seems to be the question here at Sadie's tonight. I sent my meal back twice and tables around me had to do the same as well. The table next to us sent there's back three times before the elderly man at the table started yelling at his waiter,"Wake up boy!!! " I understand restaurants/ cooks make mistakes but this seems to be a theme here tonight. This is my 2nd time trying Sadie's on Academy, and I have to say I'm not impressed at all. The food was below average and the service was horrible. If you are craving Mexican food, go elsewhere.
(1)Amy B.
I've tried it many times... it's just not a place I would pick to go for a meal. I've been to this location twice, by other's choosing and I didn't hate it, but didn't like it either. I feel like their margaritas are WAY over-priced. The house margarita is $7.50 and their "grand gold" margarita is $11.00!! I tasted no difference. The food's OK. I want to like it, but no dice.
(2)Margaret M.
I had to take a few points off today. My daughter wanted to eat here (again, she loves it). I ordered off the a la carte menu, she got a cheese enchilada. They charged/brought me a combination meal, an easy mistake to make, I sent it back - a la carte please. They fixed the order, but not the bill. That extra charge came outta the tip I'm afraid. I still dig the salsa, the foods ok, and they have REAL margaritas, we'll try again, hoping that doesn't happen again.
(3)Jane V.
They can't accept gift cards currently. They have been only open for a week and I think they are still getting things in order. I went with a large group. They did separate checks no problem. I was shocked that their large chile con queso that was $8 was the size of a cup of soup. Really? We asked the server and he said it was the large. I thought Sadie's was know for its large portions. I would recommend waiting a couple weeks before trying this place. Let them work out their kinks.

It is a big space. The food was okay. Huge portions of cheese and chips, not much else on my nachos. There were WAY to many servers, busers, hostesses. It was a sea of black shirts. The atmosphere is bland to say the least.

Sadie's was highly recommended to me while traveling on business in Albuquerque. People in New Mexico literally rave about this restaurant. Maybe it's because I am from Texas and am used to having delicious Tex-Mex around every corner, but I was really not a fan of Sadie's. The menu was very hard for me to navigate and to understand what exactly the meals were. I ended up getting a taco salad and the chicken was very moist and good. However, it just wasn't the best Mexican food I've ever had. Not really impressed.

As someone who travels to NM once per month or business, I like to try different places. Sadie's came highly recommended - so why not? Walked in the front door to be greeted, literally, by 12 employees standing at the hostess station. A little overwhelming, but whatever. As I am taken to my table, I notice another 20 employees, at least. Keep in mind, this place isn't huge by any means but there are TONS of people working on a Monday night. Chips and salsa were awesome - their red sauce is no joke in the spicy department! I ordered the Roberto Special and it was okay. Way more than I can eat...and I ordered the small portion. It was okay but nothing special. Service and cleanliness was good. Will probably return on another visit and try a different dish.

Took my 7 y.o. son to Sadies on Academy, as it is new and was near our home. I liked it (in contrast to my review of the 4th St. Sadies). Our waiter was on top of his game and kept the chips and salsa coming w/o us even asking. He was always available. The food was tasty (as usual) and the portions are ginormous. We took home over half the two dinners and enjoyed them for the next two days. The only beef I have is the atmosphere. Its so boring and does not like what you'd expect from a Mexican Restaurant. If Captain Kirk beamed you down into Sadies, you'd know you were in a restaurant, but you'd have to ask Spock what kind it was. Hey Sadies, go look at Garduno's Winrock..now that's a Atmosphere!

Great food (as always), but this location lacked the character the original Sadie's contains. I got ONE tamale for about $11.00 and it was the size of your index finger. The waiter was very nice and brought chip refills and salsa refills every time he could. My friend got the enchilada w/o tomato and lettuce and they have it to him WITH tomato and lettuce. Not as good.

I tried Sadie's again after seven years, my option remains the same over priced mediocre food which is over powered by black pepper the only taste which stole the flavor of the mild flavor less green chilie. You order enchiladas and get over charged for all additions other than cheese. Wait service is average.

Horrible serice and food. New location in the old Gardunios building on Academy and San Mateo. Will never go to any Sadies again - food is not like it was in the bowling alley. Pure nasty, greasy and tasteless. Prices have got ridiculous.

I have always loved Sadie's and traveling from out of state I made an extra point to eat at the new location. What a disappointment it was! Service was terrible. We asked to have a dish split so it could be shared and we were told it could not be done. My carne adovada enchilada didn't even have red chili on top. It was dry and meat in huge pieces not even cut. Bathrooms were very dirty and just overall felt I made a bad choice by going there. I will stick to the original on 4th ave.

Great service but the food was not impressive. Thought we would try the place since it was a new restaurant. Probably right in line with other Mexican restaurants around Albuquerque.

The chips and salsa are best greeters. If you like spicy, this is the place for it. I was impressed with the interior design. It's warm, welcoming, and spacious. My drink was promptly served. I applaud Sadie's to come up with a new item on the menu which is the sopaipilla sliders. There are three pieces with your choice of filling. The serving size was perfect for me. Sadie's is one place I will not get tired of.
