Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Yesterday I had lunch at Quesadilla Grille in Old Town Alburquerque. ..what a gem! Word to the wise : if you come in to the little patio plaza where they are located, plastic cloth tables scattered around two separate dining areas, don't forget to READ about the specials on the grease board just as you enter the archway from the parking lot. I had the kale quesadilla with mushrooms and feta. Sooo tasty and served with crispy tortilla chips and guac if you want. The guac was mediocre and I could have done without it, but the quesadilla was grilled to perfection and I could tell the kale was grilled in a slightly garlic (olive?) oil before it went into the tortilla. The whole ensemble was clean, with just the right amount if cheese, not so much that it is oozing out. If ever a quesadilla could taste yummy and healthy at the same time, this would be it. I also has a bite of my friend's fish taco, which was nicely prepared with fresh cabbage (I'm from San Diego, near where Baja tacos originated, so you can't fool me...if it's not done with cabbage then it isn't a fish taco) but the sauce and the fish itself was too bland for me taste. The real star of this place, besides the originality of the quesadilla stuffings, was the environment. Sit outside if you can and let your eye wander to the large-scale Katrina peering down at you from the curio shop upstairs and the cobblestone leading to tiny shops around the plaza. My friend has lived in Abq for 30 years and knows the scoop...apparently the guy who owns it got it from his folks who grew up in the building when it use to be a home. I don't know if this is true but I am going to believe it anyways. It makes dining there all the more wonderful. I'll be back!

Such a cute little place tucked away on a nice patio in old town! Very friendly and attentive wait staff! Their food is really good too, they have do many things to add into the quesadillas, which is awesome! They also have a great dipping sauce selection for their home made fries. Highly recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, food and friendly staff!
(5)Vincent N.
The Kale quesadilla is great!! My wife had the tilapia tacos--3 good size delicious tacos!! Nice, pleasant patio dining is available. Friendly staff.
(4)Michael P.
Not very impressed and not worth the money. Food served on paper plates, salsa was purée, guacamole did not seem freshly made, nachos had processed cheese. Just not what we expected in Old Town.
(1)K N.
Great food! The salsa was delicious. The service was good. They served soft drinks in 32oz glasses which was great for our family who drinks quite a bit if soda. Will be back and recommend to friends who travel to ABQ
(5)Justin W.
No idea how this place got more then one star. To start the service was horrible. We asked for a larger cup of salsa which at first we thought was marina sauce by mistake and the serve grabs one from the table next to us and says "Do you want it they didn't open it." Other then that the food was incredibly bland and not worth the money at all. Some how there is a sign out from that says award winning street tacos enless they are the only ones who sell street tacos in old town this is clearly a mistake.

Quesadilla is the only option, and the quesadilla are not good. They were dry, bland and boring. The side dish options are tortilla chips or fries. The chips were so poorly cooked, they glistened with a sheen of oil. No wine or beer. We had to ask for our check. Kind of cute historic spot, but not a good experience overall.

Perfect fit for Old Town. The quesadillas are very flavorful. I had the turkey quesadilla and loved the bite of the green chili's! The ambiance of this little restaurant was fabulous as the tourists walk by and gawk as the music in the distance rolls in. The chips were also very tasty, but the salsa was very hot for this gringo!
(4)Kelli L.
Love the quesadilla variety here, but today we shared the nachos and they were fab! Nice atmosphere, too, inside and on the outdoor patio !

I was in ABQ in January visiting my mother. We went to look at Old Town, literally stumbled on this restaurant. The food is so good; Quesadillas galore, Chips & Guacamole are fresh, yummy! The owner, Shawn (also the chef) & his son Daniel were the most gracious hosts. They took the time to speak with about the history of the building & a little about themselves. Try this place, you will not be disappointed!

My experience at Quesadilla Grille was fine. I wouldn't call it outstanding, but it was ok. I went because I had heard about the Kale Quesadilla and wanted to give it a try. Service was very friendly, but a bit on the slow side. I was seated promptly and then....nothing for a bit. I eventually got my drink, but it took about five minutes. Note that it did not appear to be crowded at all, but it seemed like one woman was both the hostess and the waitress. Chips and salsa are not free, and I found the way they did the ordering to be a bit weird. The Kale Quesadilla, I was told, came with a fountain drink and then either chips and salsa or french fries. I assume there are other meals that do not include these things? I was told I would be getting my chips and salsa soon, but they came out with the meal. The salsa was ok, but you get a very tiny cup of it, and it is not enough. I had guacamole with my quesadilla, and I wanted to get some sour cream. I had to get up and walk to the hostess stand to find someone to get me more salsa, more sour cream, and an additional soda (which I had been promised a refill on some time before). Again, everyone was very friendly about all this just slow. The food was ok. I would recommend putting less kale in the quesadilla as there was a bit too much in mine. I had added onions and feta to my quesadilla (at an additional cost), but I could barely tell that that feta was there. I did see a piece fall out so I know they put it in, but it wasn't enough to add much to the overall flavor of the dish. Would I go again? Probably not. The food was fine, but the service was not super prompt. Additionally, I didn't find the food to be amazing enough to warrant a second trip. But if you ended up here, it would be fine.

Awesome! This restaurant was THE 'find' on a weary afternoon in the Old Town, Albuquerque. It is located down a little alley at "Nick Garcia's Patio Shops" on Poco A Poco, San Felipe St. NW., right across from the old church. It specializes in quesadillas; the yummiest I've had. Numerous options for vegetarians too and fabulous service. The menu says no substitutions, but they made customs changes for our vegetarian needs. The portions are large and filling. Loved it!
(5)Ed F.
I echo Leigh H.'s comments. I would eat here again if in the area; however, I wouldn't make a special trip just for the restaurant.
(3)Melissa N.
Woweeey!!! Much like Napoleon Dynamite we LOVED these danged old Quesadillas. The salsa is homemade with love by the owner and is hands down some of the best I've ever had!! And the wine margaritas are super tasty. Leroy made the entire dinning experience just delightful. We will definitely be coming back.
(5)Roxy L.
Great place for lunch with interesting quesadilla flavor options. Our server did a fantastic job of making sure our party of ten with limited time got our meals and we're back at our conference on time. The only good I did not like was the salsa. It was clearly a marinara base with some garlic and maybe finely chopped onion and tomatoes. It was just odd.
(4)Kelly M.
I love this place. They take a traditional food, and put a twist on it. I've always loved to put anything in a tortilla (Day-After-Thanksgiving Burrito? Yes, please) but these guys are pros at it. Everything has a ton of flavor, and they have a great condiment bar with awesome sauces. The service is always great. One of my favorite restaurants!
(5)Dorothea C.
Great food Wandered in while checking out Old Town with my group from our conference. So glad we did. The waitress apologized right off the bat and said service would be slow cause they were short-handed. We still got out in an hour. They got my order wrong but gave me the incorrect order while they made the correct one. The food was great!! The french fries (I know I should have tried the chips) were some of the best I ever had. There sauce bar had some great selections. The mayo/barbeque sauce was excellent on the fries. Also a minimum of peppers as we were peppered out (we asked!). Really liked this place.

I spent the weekend in Albuquerque for my bachelorette party. We ate at this restaurant twice. We were drawn back to the quesadilla grill a second time because of the stellar and warm service that we received from our waiter, Leroy. He was genuinely nice and attentive. On the first visit we split the chicken street tacos & they were spectacular. The meal came with chips & salsa (as does everything in albuquerque) and the salsa was good, but reminder me quite a bit of marinara. On our second visit, we again placed an order for the chicken street tacos & also wanted to try the "fry bar". French fries seem a little out of place at a quesadilla restaurant, but it works. You don't want to miss the barbecue mayo dipping sauce! The reason I give 3 stars is because the owner decided to give her employees a gigantic lecture right at the hostess stand...well within ear shot of the dining customers. We overheard the entire exchange. She was berating one employee in particular and he retaliated. Their voices were raised & it really ruined our dining experience. I don't care if a restaurant is run with an iron fist, but I find it very inappropriate to do it in front of customers. Their argument made us extremely uncomfortable.

We were in Old Town and decided to try this restaurant. The first thing I noticed when I opened the menu was that they charged $3.99 for sopapillas! What? I grew up in NM and this is not right! If you order a meal sopapillas should be complimentary. We ended up ordering taquitos, street tacos, and a carne adovada quesadilla. The food was very good but it wasn't authentic New Mexican with the exception of the carne adovada. You could get each item ala carte or as a meal. The meal included a soft drink. Since we weren't ordering soft drinks we just got everything a la carte but my husband ordered a meal and they gave us a side of chips and guacamole for free for our three year old. A nice addition would be to include a drink and sopapilla with each meal.

Stopped in for a quick light lunch while touring Old Town. It certainly is off the beaten path but sitting on the outside table was a great way to escape the heat of the sun. We were drawn in by the sidewalk sign advertising the Street Tacos and were not disappointed. We split that with a salad with the homemade Salsa Ranch dressing and it was the perfect mid-day lunch. Service was great, despite the fact that the waitress was swamped. It seems that they must have been short staffed or had a rush, but managed it very well. She was very attentive to those of us sitting outside. My only warning is that we overheard her explaining that they cannot serve alcohol at the seating that is in the middle of the patio, under the trees. Didn't effect us, but it made me glad that we sat under the stairs, since I got to enjoy the Marble Wheat with my tacos.

I found this place by complete accident a while back. I was out wandering Old Town with a friend and we decided to try it. It looked very cute. It's okay. The menu is a lot bigger than I expected for a place that boast quesadillas and fries. It has one salad on it and some desserts, as well. I tried the pineapple and ham quesadilla. It was not bad. It was a little odd, but it was not bad. The fries are decent and the toppings for them are good. My friend had a pork quesadilla and it was pleasant. The servings are a good size and they are presented nicely. Really, though, it's a little boring. It's just a normal sized quesadilla. And a cone of fries. That's it. The service was slow. Very slow. It was middle afternoon and no one else was in the place. The server was very nice, but it was baffling why we had to wait for fries and a quesadillas for so long. I think we were there for over an hour for a simple meal. Despite being in the heart of old town, there is nothing New Mexican about it. You have to add green chile and you get charged for it. There is no heat and nothing authentic about the food. Overall, it's interesting. They have weird quesadillas and fries. Not even a tortilla cheese burger, which would fit the theme. Eh.
(1)Katie D.
We love this place! Perfect NM ambiance, very friendly servers and staff, delicious beverages and food.
(5)Mohamed H.
Awesome place hidden away in old town. Service was good, with a less than average wait time. Good food too. The fries and bbq mayo dip are the bomb. Definitely coming back :)

I randomly found this place while aimlessly meandering around Old Town for the first time. I was really hungry despite it not quite being dinner time (a smidge before 5 PM), and a number of the other Old Town restaurants seemed to either not serve dinner prior to 5, be fairly expensive, or both. This place seemed like a decent compromise so I decided to try it out. The menu, as others have pointed out, consists primarily of quesadillas, though there are some very interesting interpretations on offer. The priciest one is about $12, which includes a side of chips and salsa or fries as well as a drink. The place also had a number of tacos available, which is what I ordered--3 plus chips and salsa and drink for $11 or less. Also, all alcoholic beverages (a number of bottled beers and wines and a couple of things on tap) are just $5. The food was good; I ordered the shrimp tacos which were very nicely presented and very tasty, though the shrimp were a bit overmarinated in lime juice and perhaps a little too acidic. The chips, though, were phenomenal--housemade, served warm, and with really delicious salsa that was just a touch smoky. This is a mom-and-pop shop, literally--one family owns and operates it, and this particular evening there was just one fellow working who was handling serving, cashiering, dishwashing, and other miscellaneous tasks, so the service was fairly slow (I sat and waited for nearly ten minutes before my order was taken), but the food came out pretty quickly and the waiter was quite personable. Overall this is an interesting little place that tries hard and is worth a shot. I would come back here again, particularly if I'm not in a rush.

We stumbled upon this little place while walking around Old Town ABQ. The kids were hungry and needed a break so we walked into this cozy little place tucked away in the corner. It was cold outside so the warmth of the fireplace felt really good. We were immediately greeted by our very friendly waiter and were advised we could sit anywhere. We chose an empty room to the side in case the kids got rowdy. So far so good until he brought us the menu, this is were my three star rating comes in. Everything on the menu is a quesadilla!! pizza quesadilla, breakfast quesadilla, traditional quesadilla etc. etc. I mean you really have to be in the mood for a quesadilla if you want to go here. They might have one other option which is street tacos but that's it. I'm sorry but I will not be spending money on a quesadilla anywhere. They are the easiest things to make so I can very easily make one at home. I just ordered a beer and my son had the pizza quesadilla which he enjoyed. The service was definitely great, I just wish they had more options on their menu. I mean I know it's called Quesadilla Grille but why not give the people more options?

Found this place on accident while walking around the area on a Saturday afternoon with my mom. A little pricy and the menu is pretty small but the food was great. However, our server was outstanding. Better than the food if I do say so. He was charming and adorable and just super attentive and gracious. I would come back and order a glass of water if I was guaranteed he'd be the one to bring it out, haha. They go a little heavy on the lime in their street tacos but they have the presentation down and the restaurant itself is really romantic and cute.
(5)Fox E.
The menu is super small; it is basically quesadillas. what were you expecting? it is a quesadilla grille. seriously though, it is all quesadilla meals. they also have a street taco special as well. so there you have it; quesadillas and street tacos. surprisingly none of us got a quesadilla, though the quesadilla sampler was tempting. we all got street tacos. our favorites were the shredded chicken and the carne adovada. i'm not sure if they always have the tacos, but it seems like they might. with the street taco special, we also got freshly made tortilla chips and salsa and they were out of this world. the space is really sweet; it feels like you are in a well-staged grandmothers house in a movie or something. there were lots of nooks and crannies and bookcases. as for all of the service complaints, our waitress was awesome - but we were also one of two parties there so we got more attention than it seems you might typically get. an extra note on the tortilla chips: i would like to build a bag that can keep these tortilla chips warm, so i can carry the said bag and munch on them all day. they were perfectly crispy and salty.

This is a wonderful gem tucked away just off the main way in old town. I would have otherwise not known it was there! Cute little courtyard, live music, beautiful fall day with great food...doesn't get much better! I had their special "street style" tacos, veggie, and it was absolutely marvelous. Deliciousness! Highly recommended, so much better than some of the crappy cheap "Mexican" food on the plaza.
(5)Ashley D.
Great food, great service. Friendly atmosphere and amazing food. Best margaritas ever
(5)Jeff B.
Really enjoyed the food. Family run location tucked off the main square. Quesadilla with egg and chorizo was great! Salsa has a spicy zing. Be sure to ask about the sweet potato fries (just kidding, don't ask them to change their great menu to fit your diet).
(4)Joe T.
Food is delicious! Everything is made in house but the tortillas! Service was excellent and extremely attentive! Food choices are mouth watering and the coaching and assistance from the server was spot on! I don't go to ABQ very often but when I do, I will DEFINITELY be back!
(5)Samantha G.
Good food and ambiance. A Philadelphian enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak quesadilla and the new addition of beers really added to the meal. Great location and friendly staff
(4)Jay H.
A place that serves all quesadillas. The food was okay but the services was really really really slow. I ordered quesadilla steak, it was not bad. Fry's were also good. My sister ordered the barbecue chicken. Steve order the burger quesadilla. Overall it was ok. I really liked being outside.
(3)Shannon C.
Really cool space and patio that is well decorated and inviting. Awesome place in old town to get away from the crowds for lunch. 5 star for atmosphere! Quesadillas were delicious and filling. The fries were okay for me, but I don't like steak fries. There are many dipping sauces that are good. The salsa was excellent, the chips were good. Good values too. We had two veggie quesadillas that came with a side and a huge drink for $20 with tip. The specialize in quesadillas and don't have much else-although I saw a lady with a salad. Realize this before you come. I heard another table comment negatively on this. We loved it though and will be back!
(4)Kathryn K.
Walked in and got seated - then waited ten minutes without anyone coming by to get my order or bring water. Went back up to the front, and apparently the guy who seated me didn't actually work there, but was maybe related to someone - and didn't tell anyone I was there. So that wasn't the greatest. That being said, the service once they knew I was there was great, particularly considering I was there not too long before closing (it turns out all the restaurants in Old Town are lunch places - good luck finding dinner!). The menu's a little homogenous, but when you enter a place called the Quesadilla Grille, with its menu posted out front, you kind of know what you're getting into. The quesadilla and fries were both delicious, with the fries coming with your pick of several unusual sauces as well as the usual ketchup and ranch.
(4)Kara H.
My husband and I stumbled upon this gem tonight and were so happy! It's always nice to find new places, especially when you're a local. It was such a pleasant surprise! The atmosphere is so welcoming. The patio outside is cute, then you go in and it gives you a homey old New Mexican feel. The staff is so friendly!! Lately, service in Albuquerque has been declining rapidly in the service industry, however, they restored some faith in us! The food was superb. We had open faced tacos. If I dare say, it was dangerously addictive!!! We enjoyed our first experience there and will recommend to friends and family. Thank you! We will be returning customers!

I recently had the occasion to dine at the QUESADILLA GRILLE in Albuquerque's Old Town. I expected the usual "cookie cutter" tourista type menu and cuisine. Was I surprised when I reviewed their menu and found appetizers and entrées that broke all the rules. I was pleased to see a menu dedicated to a variety of Quesadillas ranging from a plain cheese Quesadilla to choices including burgers, Philly cheese steak, shredded beef, carne adovada,, chicken, Veggies with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions, ham, turkey and tomatoes, to breakfast eggsadillas with chorizo, ham or bacon. Not your run of the mill offerings of a tourist mecca. However, I was in an "enchilada mood", so both I and my dining companion settled on their Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas topped with an egg. The plate came with luscious rolled enchiladas stuffed with a generous portion of chicken, green chile, onions and mushrooms. The chile had a nice hot bite to it. It was absolutely delicious and ample. Before the enchiladas arrived, we savored their savory chips and salsa which was to die for. The chips were nice and hot and the salsa was perfectly flavored and spiced with a nice hint of oregano and garlic. So good that we asked for seconds. Now mind you, I'm not a "French Fry" person... But when the french fries my friend ordered came to the table, I was blown away after tasting one. Much to my surprise, they were fresh hand cut fries that I couldn't stop eating. I'm so used to seeing frozen french fries served at most other restaurants, that I've sworn off of them. What a treat ! Additionally, we met the owner "Chaz" who came to the table to check on everything. We were amazed to hear he was raised and grew up in the very house that is now this restaurant. Quesadilla grille is nestled away in a cozy and quaint courtyard at 328 San Felipe, N.W. and absolutely deserves a try from both locals and tourists. As we were, I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the delicious and authentically prepared New Mexican dishes where everything is made from scratch and the atmosphere is so delightful. I for sure am going back !!! Mike Santullo, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

First, I opted bump up my review to a 4-star as 3-stars really wasn't sufficient and 1/2-stars are not an option... This is a charming little place that one can't help but feel as though you've stepped through a portal into a present day Mexican pueblo (it reminded me a bit of León, Guanajuato, MX)! Perfect for the tourist & nostalgic for the locals, this establishment is owned & operated by the descendants on what is left of the "family homestead" of one of the original New Mexican families who immigrated from Spain in the early 18th century! Overall the food was good. My party and I had the, Carne Adovada Tacos, El Mondragon Meal & the De Garcia Meal. At first I was a bit dismayed by the fact that the salsa that was served with the chips tasted more like an Italian Marinara sauce & the iced tea was from a fountain, as was their "1/2 tea-1/2 lemonade" =o/. However, the chips appeared to be fresh and their tortillas "homemade!" Also, the guacamole was fresh. My dining companions & I had bites of each other's dishes & mine won - The Carne Adovada Tacos (Their signature meat is the Carne Adovada)! However, we all enjoyed our meals. The service was good, but I couldn't help but feel a sense of tension - not toward the patrons but amongst the staff? Seating is limited & I didn't see any tables that could accommodate any more than 4 people in a party. The patio is a nice option, but flys might be an annoyance during certain times of the day &/or season? Overall, I recommend Quesadilla Grille.
(4)Suzie H.
We ordered a quesadilla sampler and a beef street taco. Hands down the shredded beef street taco was our favorite but the shredded beef quesadilla was a very close second. The pork quesadilla was great with the chicken quesadilla, while still tasty, came in last. The homemade salsa was outstanding. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the vibe was not fully inviting. We actually started in on the evening before and I felt uncomfortable so we turned around and ate elsewhere. The following evening we were greeted but the young hostess acted as if we were a bother. Mind you that we seemed to be the only customers here at 6pm on a Saturday night. That being said our waiter was outstanding! He took his time with us and made solid recommendations.
(4)David B.
Service was fine. Quesadilla philly was really good. Homemade chips were excellent. Safe place to go.
(3)Renee D.
Stopped in based on a recommendation by a local merchant. I had the shredded beef street tacos. They were pretty good, meat was seasoned well, although the cheese wasn't thoroughly melted. Not a huge deal but food should be served piping hot. The chips & salsa aren't free so I ordered a large for $4.99. The chips were served nice and hot, salsa was served in a small plastic cup. While the presentation was blah, the salsa was pretty good. Hope you love garlic like I do because it was strong. It wasn't hot spiced so I was happy with that. The enchiladas my other guests had were pretty good based on their opinions. Heavy heavy cheese. The fry bar was lacking as it was just a bunch of different condiments, i.e. mustard, mayo, ketchup. Beer & wine only. I had a wine margarita which was tasty but a little heavy on the sweet side. The place is unique, charming, and service was very good. I would return for lunch.
(3)Amber F.
Very nice restaurant with decent prices! We tried some other restaurants and old town and this one was by far our favorite. I was hoping the a margarita, but they only serve beer. Also, you had to eat inside if you wanted a beer, so we opted to stay outside 'beerless'. We ordered the quesadilla sampler, very good!!
(4)Michael J.
Nice healthy prepared fresh food, good quality and value, I'm glad we found this place by chance on our visit here
(4)Sheri V.
Great little place hidden in Old Town! Staff is very friendly, very cool and casual atmosphere and the food is amazing. One of the best burgers I've had in ages, at a quesadilla place! My bf had the buffalo chicken quesadilla and lived it as well. We will definitely be back!
(5)Koralea V.
SLOWer than SLOW service. It literally took 15 mins to get a menu, 10 mins for drinks to arrive and 40 MORE minutes for 4 plates of street tacos to arrive. The soda and water taste horrendous- like hose water. The waiter (Leroy) seemed nice enough at first- however after we mentioned that the food had taken a long time, he snapped on us and said "I'm sorry you're in such a hurry." Um- we have 4 hungry children, so not necessarily in a hurry- however not wanting to wait 40 minutes for our food. THEN he started yelling at us telling us that it only took 20 mins (despite the fact that we posted a checkin on FB when we ordered- so we know FOR SURE it was 40 mins) and that its a business run by 4 people. Um- not my problem dude. Also the salsa is disgusting. It's literally pizza sauce. No onion, no cilantro, no chile. Just pizza sauce. And the guacamole- wasn't. It was green paste. He made no apology whatsoever at our disatisfaction- and made NO attempt to right the situation. Its the worst customer service I've received in a very, very long time. My children were especially upset after we left- they were very uncomforatable that their dad was yelled at by the waiter.
(1)Jane S.
Fairly new to Albuquerque. Stumbled on it while touring Old Town. Sweet location. Street Taco specials were great. Outstanding ground beef tacos!! Jesse, the server, was amazingly helpful and right on the money. Definitely will go back.
(4)Sara L.
Yeah! I love quesadillas. I'd give it 4 stars, but there was a weird vibe out on the patio... Between our too-exuberant waiter, lady beside us that kept making awkward comments, the guy that talked on his cell phone so loud that everyone in New Mexico could hear him, and the girl that kept staring at me like I was a ghost... It just got weird. Food was decent though. Good casual lunch spot.
(3)Stephen W.
The quesadillas were good, 4 star quality, but the overall experience is a 3. I got the turkey and green chile and the wife got the ham and pineapple. I liked mine a lot, nice heat; the wife, not so much. The meal comes ala carte or with sides. I ordered chips and salsa and at first I thought it was gross; the chips were thick, greasy and way too salty. But as time went on I liked them more and more. The homemade salsa (they give just a tiny little plastic thing) was excellent, really nice kick. We were turned off by the plastic knives and forks which made cutting the quesadilla very hard. The service was slow--maybe 20-25 minutes to make a quesadilla when there was one party ahead of us? And I was charged the wrong amount. It may have been an honest mistake or an attempt to charge tourists more in the hope they don't notice. Can't say what the motivation was but it was rectified easily and without a problem.

The food here is so awesome!! The jalapeno margarita is also amazing--it doesn't have simply syrup like many other spicy margaritas I've had, and this makes it taste so amazing. I was also so impressed by the service. We sat outside because we had our dog with us (we were coming back from a walk). As soon as the server saw us, he came to greet us with a little bowl full of water for our thirsty dog--without us even asking for it. I definitely appreciated that gesture! The whole night, he was so attentive even though we were one of his last tables for the night. We will definitely be back.

The "el Mondregon" which is Carne adovada was soooo incredibly yummy and filling. They have a whole bunch of different quesadillas. So much to choose from. Great prices, big portions and your taste buds will be happy. I didn't know you could get this tasty and creative with quesadillas. I have to admit...I was very skeptical at first. And this place is super cute! Very quaint and beautifully decorated.

We visited Old Town Albuquerque and were looking for something good but not fancy. It was the middle of the afternoon, so we weren't sure who would be serving. We stumbled upon the Quesadilla Grille, a cute restaurant with a nice outdoor patio. As the name suggests, the restaurant specializes in quesadillas, and they are great! They are pan fried, so the tortilla is a bit crispy on the outside, and warm on the inside. My soon had the Meat Lovers Quesadilla, which would have served 2 easily (but he's a growing boy!). It had all kinds of meats in it,including pepperoni, sausage and bacon. Yum! I had the turkey and cheese quesadilla, which was excellent too, just a little lower in fat :) Service was very friendly - we got refills of our water and soda without asking. Turns out the owner (Michael?) actually grew up in the house across the street, right in the heart of Old Town, so he knows the area really well. Besides being a great host, he gave us a couple of recommendations of things to do while in his city. We'd go back there again!!

This is a little "GEM" of a restaurant off the beaten path in Old Town, Albuquerque. It is located down a little alley at "Nick Garcia's Patio Shops" on Poco A Poco, San Felipe St. NW., right across from the old church. As the name implies, they only make and serve quesadilla's, but mmmmmmm.............what quesadilla's they are! I feel their the absolute best you'll find anywhere! Different types, large portions, freshly made, and the BEST value! Don't forget the fries which are fresh cut and GIGANTIC! A dipping sauce bar is provided for the fries, but I think their the best "Au natural"! Daniel is one of the owners and one of the nicest guys you'll find in the business. Our waitress, Clarissa, was terrific, and bent over backwards to help us! Since we we're from out of town, it made it even more special. Can't say enough about this place except.....GO THERE!!!
