Guys! This is a cool little pub, but I was most pleased that it is vegetarian friendly!! I was only expecting to get some lame appetizer or pasta dish but they offer Morningstar farms veggie burger AND a portobello option! I got the portobello, and it was flavorful, I guess my only complaint would be that it was overdone- but I had ordered the "black and bleu" so I suppose they were doing a blackened spin on it. I wouldn't blacken a portobello so much. It was also pretty spicy, but that was in the description of the burger. I was disappointed with it, but I would return and order it prepared differently. Soup of the day was cream of mushroom, and it was awesome, loaded with fresh carrots and mushrooms. There is always a "weird sandwich of the day" that is vegetarian. Today it was the "Apple philly". It didn't sound good to me but it's so awesome that they offer things like this! The live music (Sunday) is really awesome. This place is just buzzing with people. All in all, we just chose a random spot to eat and this place was a gem. A really cool place to go.

O'Niell's is probably the spot I hit the most in Albuquerque, but not my favorite. The convenient and central location lands you there. All you got to say to me is "Wanna go to O'Neill's"--I there! The staff are friendly and awesome. Nice beer selection--maybe one of the best in the city. I think the whole concept of fried pickles is out of this world and who can resist chile cheese fries. To me the burger is just okay, especially for the high moderate price. For a place that has "lads and lassies" on the restroom doors, I expected the corn beef to be kick-ass--and it's not. Still I recommend hanging with your friends at O'Neill's. You'll find me there as well. NOTE: I spelled the bar/restaurant name two different ways just as they do in their menu and signage.

I thought the Spicy Mac & Cheese ($12+) was way overpriced... AND not spicy. Good concept, though, with chile con queso, mushrooms, broccoli and tomatoes. The pasta was served with bread... trying to put me in a carb coma or something? The patio service here was slow on a Sunday night, and they weren't even busy. Drinks were weak and overpriced.

O'Neills is a great locally-owned and operated pub. I had the steak sandwich and couple left hand milk stouts. Those were great, I heard zero complaints from the 20+ people in my group. The patio was a nice area to enjoy the summer rain falling last night. They are per friendly also. It had been a few years since I had been here, definitely better service and experience all the way around.

Apparently, my business wasn't valued. 7 minutes waiting without a single server coming over, 2 were just standing... I really hope it isn't because of appearances.

Yay! I'm a fan. Why? For many reasons including that dogs are allowed at this location, there is a yelp check in discount offer, and the availability of appetizers and desserts. I've been here many times just for a beverage and a snack. I keep on meaning to bring my female puppy here to see if she likes it; that bitch will determine if this place keeps four stars or gets bumped down to three. Up until this point I give this place four stars because overall the parking lot, restrooms, and eating areas are usually kept clean. I usually just order starter meals here or a small dish. My cousin likes their gluten free choices. Yay! KID#2 (know known as Happy Feet on yelp) likes their hot wings. I like the "Crispy Corned Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls" as an appetizer. My husband and I were thinking of joinging their "'O' So Faithful Pint Glass Promo" [ oniells.com/special-prom… ], but we have to somehow remember what month it beings. I thought it was in January, but the website says August first. That means I'll wait until 2015. I've only had one bad experience here when I had ordered a liquid snack and wanted to pay as soon as the waitress brought the bubbly. This never happened. I complained to the manager -- stating that I only had a 30 minute time frame, so I ordered quickly and wanted to pay as soon as possible in order to leave within 20 minutes. In the meantime my husband was fnishing up his appetizer and drink, and he had also asked for his tab when I asked for mine. He also never received the tab within the 20 minutes. The manager saw how diappointed I was; then said he would take care of both tabs. Well, I actually never really had a tab -- just water. At least my husband's ticket was comped. Thank you to that O'Neill's manager for being on top of everything. Cheers!

I came here last night for the first time for a pub quiz and had a group of six. Most of the tables do not seat six and the one table I saw that did, had four morbidly obese people taking up one of the only six-seaters in the room. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was lovely. It was pretty busy during the quiz and she was able to get us our food and drinks pretty quickly. I had their taquitos and chicken fritters which went really well with my Hefeweisen. There was one male server that was being grumpy all night and was mildly incompetent. Every time he came by our table to drop something off, he was scowling. When we ordered food, the server wrote it down and read it back to us. About 5 minutes later, he came to our table asking us if we had ordered this and that, but he was missing half of our order. He seemed very incensed when we corrected him. Other than that, I would come here again. Others in my group ordered entrees that they enjoyed like the Apple Reuben.

I usually only come here for trivia or a late night meal. This is a good solid pub choice just about anytime, though. I also really love the outdoor patio with booths which you can smoke at.

The service is bad. Staff made no attempt accommodate a large party. When I made an attempt to move a table I was yelled at by the bar tender.

This is a steady, reliable place to grab a burger, some wings, a good beer, or a Guiness. The food isn't the most awesome food ever, but it hits the spot and you won't leave hungry. The bartenders generally know their way around a pour, and can mix a drink to my satisfaction. My most favorite thing about this place is the PATIO! It is dog friendly, and a super chill place to hang out during warm weather. Bring the pups, have a beeer... Enjoy the sunshine and awesome Albuquerque weather.

Fun little pub! I'm not sure they are very Irish, but they try. Good beer selection, especially European gems, and a better than average whiskey selection as well. The food is generally good, with a nod to the Irish, but you'll find a fair selection of other items too. Came here for the Geeks Who Drink competition, which was super fun. And, as expected, this place pulls out all the stops on St. Patrick's day, with live fife and drums, drink specials, and classic Irish food. Go, but get their EARLY!

I love going to O'niell's when I want to try something a that'll stick to my ribs and enjoy and cold beer. They have a great atmosphere here. The interior is clean and features local artist's work. They have a nice long bar to sit at and their patio is comfy and spacious. They have a varied menu with plenty of things to try that you may not find anywhere else in ABQ. The wait staff has always been friendly and efficient. My two favorite entrees have been the steak salad and Shepard's Pie. Yummy! I also enjoy hanging outside in one of their patio couches and just having a drink or two.

A classic! O'Niel's is your one stop shop for pub food and beer. They also have a lighter menu for those that are working on a diet but still want to enjoy time with friends. The food can be a little greasy but you're at a beer joint, what else goes better with beer? I don't appreciate the opportunity to upgrade (at a cost) but they do verify with you prior to placing your order that it will be an additional charge. The patios are nice and one is dog friendly. They also have a private room that is beautiful for a pub. This is worth a stop!

Tried to order pizza from the restaurant next door, which is the same owner. A manager told me I was not allowed to order pizza and eat it at O'neils because other customers may want to do the same thing. Who cares, it's the same owners! Good live music food and drink overpriced.

Local is pretty much my middle name...I get nervous at chain restaurants. I try to support the local places as much as possible. O'Niells is a pillar of the local community and one might suspect that they are doing a great job judging by the packed parking lot. But, I do agree with many of the other reviewers....it's just A-OK. I have not been wowed by this current location since they opened. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the beers and food. I haven't had a super amazing food experience there ever...I did once like the potato fritters many years ago when they had the space across from Kelly's (now 2 Fools.) and unfortunately they do not still hold up to that memory. Recently I had some chile con queso that was good once I dumped a large amount of pepper on it and shared a hotdog covered with bacon (so, maybe not the most pub or heart healthy items to order, and my body agreed with the overall unsatisfactory outcome of the evening), beer was good and bar service prompt and efficient. What O'Niells does have going is the staff and the patio...and for you dog lovers...you can enter the patio from the side (not thru the restaurant)....and the chips were warm. That deserves a star. Oh, and NO TV! Another star. Go check it out...the menu is vast...you may have better luck ordering than I.

One of the few Irish pubs in town. Nothing really stands out to say wow but that's not always a bad thing. The food is decent and goes well with a good brew or whiskey from there above average selection. Now the booze because who really goes to a pub and doesn't get booze? The beer selection is pretty good especially for Albuquerque standards. Lots of bottles to choose from and around 12-16 taps. They actually pour a fairly good pint of the black stuff "Guinness". The whiskey selection is a good size as well. They also have mixed drinks and house specials.

My wife and I visited this place late on a Friday night. We wanted some good drinks and a few appitizers. The house margarita was excellent. My wife ordered the coconut margarita and was blown away. She absolutely loved it! For food we ordered the hot wings and the corned beef and cabbage egg rolls. Both were very good, maybe because we were so hungry. The wings could have been a little hotter. The bartender was very professional and did a great job of keeping us topped off! For 11pm on a Friday night, the bar itself was sparsely populated...

Went to easy with some Co-workers, fast service. Store was clean, staff was nice and smiling the entire time. Food came out quickly, but not so fast that it made you question it's freshness. Fish and chips are always a favorite and never fail to deliver. Batter is fluffy and light with just the right amount of seasoning. Chips are tasty and not greasy.

Fish tacos so good that I almost reconsidered that whole gay thing! Seriously though... Great ambiance. Great service. Great food. Wide selection of drafts and mixed drinks. Love the seating around the outdoor fire pit. It's great for intimate dinners or larger parties. I have yet to order something I disliked.

Beer selection is quite nice, with a wide range of taps. Prices a bit more expensive than other bars on the nob hill strip. Food ranges from 3-4 stars. My buffalo chicken sandwich was on a super soft and unmemorable bulkie roll. I feel like the fingers and fries came out of the freezer-not made in house. Boyfriend had the boxty Rueban sandwich with sweet potato fires. The boxtys tasted fresh, and like they were made in house. For the price of the food the plates were very manageable, not the best pub food value. Service has been good both times I have been. For the price of food and beer, I would rather eat at shade tree or geckos. But thank you for participating in beer week, I have really enjoyed the unusual selections that have been available on tap around town.

Patio is nice but too spaced out if you want a conversation with your party. Weird and uncomfortable ambiance. Staff is really nice, though.

Strange crowd. Cool fire pit on the patio but not good for conversation. Loud traffic. Uncomfortable atmosphere. At least they have Guinness on tap and decent whiskey choices.

Was there during Summerfest at around 6pm and after a short wait got a seat at the bar. The place was packed but the staff was awesome as they handled all of the orders. My order was the garden burger, which was very good. I was recommended by another couple earlier in the day. This place is very popular and is worth the wait. WELL DONE!

This is our neighborhood bar just a 1/2 mile from the house. Still, we find ourselves driving by to other places for meals. That's sad because O'Niell's does most everything right. The decor is pleasing, the sound is not too loud except on live music nights and the bar offerings are extensive. The menu choices are wide ranging but just don't always satisfy. I love their hamburgers but I can't say that there are many other entrees that I crave. IMHO, Two Fools just down Central has better tasting menu items. But, if you are just drinking, you can't miss with the extensive bottled and draft beer selections. Every day they have a "weird" menu item which is always vegetarian. They may be fantastic but I have to have some meat with my meals. Shame on me. So, in summary, good but not great. You may enjoy yourself but you won't be making plans to return often.

I ordered a meal that came to a total of $20 and some change. I left a 3.50 tip, Apparently, that was not good enough for for my waiter. My card ended up being charged $5 and some change for the tip. If you get a tall, bald, white guy waiting on you, ask for another server. The reason I'm writing this review is because I'm tired of waiters on Nob Hill increasing their tips when I pay. The food was decent, but I'm not going back. I've been a server before and never did this to customers.

A solid pub in ABQ's bar and restaurant laden Nob Hill. Given the amount of places in close proximity, O'Niell's holds their own amongst some pretty stiff competition. For starters, this place is very serious about their beer selection. They've got locals represented (Marble, La Cumbre, etc.), but they also do a really good job of getting other micro brews from around the country on draft, too. And you really know this place is serious about their suds when they host their beer pairing dinners. I highly recommend you attend one if you like good food, a nice ambiance, and great beer. About that food ... they're always trying something new here and I've never been disappointed. If you do attend one of the aforementioned beer pairing dinners, be prepared, because the cooks go all out. Truth be told, their regular menu is varied enough that anyone should be able to find something here. Also, they have an awesome amount of parking the back. In this neighborhood that is a real God-send.

We stopped in here with a large group, 16 people, after work for drinks and dinner. We sat on the enclosed patio. It is plenty warm in the winter. However, lots of hard surfaces makes for a very noisy room. The beer was good. On the server's recommendation I got the fish and chips. It was perfectly cooked frozen fish patties. Run away from this dish. I can live with frozen fish, but it needs to be hand battered and then fried. The fries were decent and the cole slaw was very good. The server was awesome. She worked hard and did a great job. 2 stars for the food and 4 stars for the service.

  • Crystal W.

Food is tolerable, but I wouldn't write home to Mom about it. $12 for a pile of Mac & cheese with some chiles and broccoli? I can spend the same for twice the food, fresh from a wok, next door. $7 for a PINT? Highway robbery. Lights are pretty rowdy for a late evening, but Geeks Who Drink has made up for it in the past. Patio is nice and not as overrun by hipsters like another patio in the heart of Nob. Plus, it's dog-friendly. Not my first choice for casual drinks because of price, but staff is friendly, food is tolerable. I'd like to see another 15 fries on my queso chile fries...

O'Neills has become our go-to Tuesday night dinner place. I love the variety of things they have on their menu... some of them are really unique combinations. My husband enjoys their burger. There's hard cider on tap. And their soups are quite good. For me, my current addiction is the Apple Reuben.

Came here on a Thursday night. The place wasn't packed, yet the service was terrible! Took us a full 40 minutes to get the appetizer we ordered. Our waitress was a bit disheveled and disorganized and it was very apparent. Once our food came out she didn't really check with us to see how everything was, and only came back to give us the bill. Maybe they were short staffed, but after this experience, my husband and I will probably elect to go right up the street to two fools tavern instead.

O'Niell's receives somewhat of a presidential pardon from me. I have conceded this upon them because of their outstanding selection of beer, both bottled and on tap, representing the best in craft beer and a number of European countries. If you are like me and like beer, your best bet is to find a seat as close to the taps and beer fridges and just revel in the great selection, pondering your next drink while sipping something delicious. No need to worry about being anti-social, because the place always seems dead no matter when I come and those present (I do not exaggerate), at least on my most recent vist, are of the geriatric crowd. I'm not an ageist, but I'm not the type to just butt in on an AARP meeting and try to strike up conversation. I haven't tried the food so I can't advise anyone there, but I most also comment O'Niell's for the $3 pints at happy hour, although it's usually not my favorite beers that are on special. Also, this place is plenty spacious, so combine that with the absence of a crowd and you can always count on finding a seat.

One of the last stops on my visit to ABQ, before hitting the airport, was O'Niell's. It's a huge space, with tons of outdoor seating for when the weather isn't oppressively hot. Decent sized menu with just enough options that are Irish (bangers and mash, boxty) and traditional bar food. Large selection of beers and some decent, craft cocktails. Food is hearty and filling, with good sized portions I do feel like the decor is lacking, however. I'm used to cozy, warm and worn interiors of Irish pubs--typically because they're modeled off of the real thing (which I've visited, several times). Though there was a smattering of the warmer wood colors throughout, the seat backs were a little southwestern/modern and the wall colors seemed too off kilter. Clearly it's a popular spot as it was fairly busy for a lunch on a holiday weekday and in an otherwise quiet college area. Service wasn't bad, either, to account for the influx of customers. Overall, an ok spot.

I have never had a bad meal or a bad drink at O'Niell's. Everything on the menu is good - and not just "bar food" good. Great soups, weird sandwiches, and Irish Classics combine with in demand New Mexican dishes. Great vegetarian options - the spinach salad with honey mustard is my favorite - and even a "Defined Fitness" menu with awesome fish tacos. As for the service - we get great service sitting at the bar and have always gotten awesome service with the waitstaff, though I have noticed if you are demeaning to them, they will not hesitate to be slow with your order. Treat them with respect and understand the demands of their job and they'll be amazing!

I went to enjoy some time with friends but I kept getting distracted by the shit hanging on the walls. I think it was supposed to be art. What the fuck is an "archival inkjet print" anyway? That's not a fucking medium; that means you live in your mom's basement.

Came here while on vacation. It's the best place we've eaten so far!! The Boxty Reuben is amazing as are the fried pickle spears!! The outside patio is big and relaxing and smoker friendly which is rare. I highly recommend giving O'Neils a try if your in ABQ! The staff are friendly and relatively attentive but the wait between visits is a little long.

I had the fish n chips for lunch and it was very good. Fish was fantastic as was the cole slaw. The fries were lil soggy for my likes but still good. I tried the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and dear lord was it awesome. Very rich and sweet almost too much but I soldiered on and finished it. Wait staff was attentive and pleasant.

I was craving fish and chips and my wife was craving some good gluten-free food. yelp led us to O'Niell's. Everything was great. We will be sure to return. Great gluten free options. Be sure to try the "Chocolate Decadence" dessert.

We stopped in last night (Friday) for a drink around 11 p.m. and thought they were closing. It was pretty empty, music was at a mellow level, and all the lights were on and super bright. Def not any type of pub atmosphere I've been to. Drinks are an average price of any bar (not cheap as another reviewer stated). Pretty boring, prob won't go out of our way to go back. Friendly staff though, and great parking for the area. If I would suggest something it would be to dim the lights.

O'Niell's is as close to a neighborhood bar/restaurant as I have. It's a short walk from my house. They have more than ample patio space. They have an excellent selection of beer, including local & regional seasonal taps and many, many bottles & cans of beers from around the world. They use this unusual selection to charge $5-$6+/pint. The atmosphere is more "restaurant" than "bar", but that doesn't keep it from being busy most happy hours. However, O'Niell's kind of fails as a restaurant. For a supposed Irish pub, they should be able to do decent fish n chips. They don't. I think they use Van de Kamps. If you want good fish n chips head to Two Fools. They have some "irish inspired" dishes like their "boxty ruben" which is a great concept and reasonably executed but not amazing. They do a decent burger. Overall, it's not that the food is bad, it's just that it's not very good, and there are better options in Nob Hill. They have live music on Sundays which is nice. They have "Geeks who drink" (a quiz-show like game) that takes over the bar after 8PM on Wednesdays. Fine if that's why you're there, but pretty unbearable if you just want a pint with friends. They have an event space that's reasonably sized. I believe they rent it out.

I went here with my boyfriend for desserts and appetizers, so I didn't try the entrees. I am very intrigued by them though! They had some interesting, irish-themed appetizers, like corned beef egg rolls and green chile chicken crab cakes (with no crab). I got a brownie dessert, which was your basic chocolate. I am not a big drinker, but I stole a sip of my boyfriend's stout and it tasted pretty good to me. Rich, like Guinness. And I hear other people go crazy for it! The experience, overall, is just okay. Maybe if I went in a group, I would have liked it better.

I've always enjoyed O'Niells. I have hosted several events in their party space including a very nice reunion party for my high school. Last night I wanted a nice meal and chose O'Niells. Watching my calorie intake I ordered fish tacos. Spot on! Firm corn tortillas that held its contents. Grilled fish with just the right amount of lettuce, etc. Black beans side dry but the tacos were the highlight.

The food is very good here, as well as their desserts. They offer vegetarian options as well, and have a veggie sandwich special too, which is called "Weird." My favorite is their nachos, which is great. They also have a great selection of alcohol, from bottles of beer, to glasses of wine and Irish whiskey. The patio out back is great for those who want the fresh street air and just a place to relax. Even with a fire pit and soft cushions, or you can always sit at the metal tables. On rainy or windy days, they put up the patio covers, but you can still hang out in there, and smoking is aloud for the smokers in the outside-outside patio section near the fire pit. I enjoy coming here with friends, especially on Sunday nights, because they have the "Geeks Who Drink" pub quiz and it's free to play. Come check it out at 8pm Sundays. Plus, Happy Hour is after 10pm for the late night drinkers. ;)

My lady and I went for Geeks Who Drink one Sunday. The staff was nice, the food was fine, the quiz was fun BUT for the love of all that is Holy turn down the lights! This a bar night photo shoot. Bonus points, they did have a mighty fine vegetarian reuben.

A great bar - they do pub trivia twice a week here I think. Drinks are always tasty, waitstaff is usually pretty great, they have a gluten free menu which includes a detailed list of beers and ciders that are gluten free. Food is pretty tasty too! Outside patio with fire pit and heaters during the winter, open air patio in the summer.

Haven't been to O'Niell's in years. We went for lunch a few Sundays ago and were a bit disappointed. The service was great and very friendly, but the food quality was not as great as I remembered it to have been. I'm not planning to return anytime soon.

I'm always somewhat suspicious of places that have really nice alcohol lists. A lot of times, their alcohol list is the main attraction and the food is somewhat an afterthought. Not at O'Niell's. No, sir. We got some lunch here before our foiled trip to Uptown Mall (MAKE MORE PARKING SPACES!). I wasn't super hungry, so I got the spinach salad with grilled chicken. Our server was prompt and friendly. First off, if you like beer, this place has a very serious beer list. Come here. You will not be disappointed. Secondly, food is the bomb. My spinach salad was delicious and was covered in a warm bacon dressing (IT HAS REAL BACON AND BACON DRIPPINGS, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THIS) and it was huge, filling and delicious. And low carb, to those who care. I'd be back for a drink and another meal, this place is great.

Apparently, we have to give at least 1 star - fine - I did not get sick. 1 star, there you go. Awful, beyond awful. Servers are rude, encouraged by indifferent management. And, my reward for the worst server I have seen in years? He charged my card twice! Conveniently, no one will return phone calls. Good I thing I can dispute my card, and you have Yelp to know to stay away!

They have some pretty fun, unique appetizers. I like the fish tacos! Tons of beer selections and full bar. Have never had a bad meal or bad service. Needs just a little something more original on the menu to make it 5 stars. Turns into a dance party with a DJ after about 10pm on the weekends. Has a classier crowd most of the time.

  • Rosie N.

O'Neill's is one of those places you can just feel comfortable. Even when it's crowded with people, the atmosphere is light, and you still feel like your table is private. Both locations are great, and the arrangement is virtually the same inside. I love that they pay attention to the details. They have a range of vegetarian options, and you can get that "greasy" pub food you desire, or a more healthy option. Great service, great food!

Service...below average. Beer selection.....great. So if you don't mind waiting a long time for an unfriendly person to serve you you'll like it here. The food is ok during busy hours. I will never eat here after 7 pm again. I ordered the daily special with out chili. When I opened the to go box all I saw was noodles and chicken bites. Noodles and chicken pieces for $11.00! Are you kidding! I guess the awful waitress thought I ordered the special without everything. Who knows. What once was a premiere pub in trendy nob hill has become over priced, with a rude staff. The only positive was the beer selection.

Came to this place after a party to sober up, and enjoyed a beverage and appetizer. Music was playing in the background, a little faint, but enjoyed the selection. People were friendly. Fast service. Quiet enough to have a conversation. Next time, I plan on trying the spotted dick.

I can think of no better word to describe O'Neil's other than mediocre. Mediocre might even be a bit negative because they've never done me wrong, but they've also never impressed me. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about and the food is nothing special. Really the place just reminds me of if Applebee's or Chili's decided they wanted to be an Irish pub. The drinks are cheap enough and they host Geek's Who Drink which is really the only reason I ever go there. The one good thing I can say for certain is that they have both vegetarian and gluten-free options which makes it easy to bring your friends with dietary restrictions, but honestly there are a million more interesting places to eat in Albuquerque (especially if you're in Nob Hill). The one stand out entree I can recommend is the apple Ruben but nothing else I have had there has left any sort of impact on me. I can't really recommend O'Neil's but I also don't think it's a bad place, just eclipsed by the variety and quality of many other places in town.

This is always great for lunch. The staff here could not be nicer. And the food has always been good if not always amazing. Fish and chips are awesome and so's a pint of stoud.

I was excited by the opportunity to enjoy some local beers of New Mexico at O'Neill's. Had 2 and sat on the patio catching up with my brother who I haven't seen in years. Around 1:20am they did last call. We got our last round and kept chatting. A few minutes later, some big guy comes by and says, 'alright guys, times up. Time to go.' I looked at him confused, checked my phone and it was only 1:30!! I told him the sign outside says you're open until 2am. To that he replied, 'well, you're the only ppl left.' I argued about it and we didn't feel welcome anymore so we downed our beers and left. Their stupid excuse was 'we've been getting harassing phone calls.' You know what? Maybe you should call the cops about the phone calls versus kicking paying customers out. Needless to say, it was a BS excuse (they just wanted to jet out early) and I will not be returning. I work for a bar back home and I know it sucks when ppl are there until 2, but we paid and were not being obnoxious. That is why I will not be returning to this place. They're only nice if it's before 1 am. Forget that it's local and convenient. They're just not nice ppl.

We went there again for dinner with friends. The food was pretty good. I had the Big Cheese sandwich, which is their grilled cheese. It had more veggies than cheese, which was good, but I was hoping for a little more cheese. The beer was a little more pricey than I expected and they were out of a couple of drafts. I recommend going there before 7pm to enjoy their happy hour prices. We sat around a fire pit, which was enjoyable in the evening.

Oneils is one of our favorite hangouts. The selecion of beer is good and the turkey Jack sandwich is scrumptious. Try to avoid geek nights if you aren't into big crowds. Our favorite time to go is midday on a weekday. Try a side of queso with their fries. Good times

The patio is very nice. I recommend bringing your own food and drink however, since the servers who work there are either stoned or just plain suck at their job. Service is awful, especially outside. This is a consistent fact. I could forgive the beer menu and average food if the service wasn't as bad as it is.

On Wednesday nights, O'Niells hosts Geeks Who Drink. It is the best weekly event in the Nob Hill area. It's a pub quiz and if you don't mind some adult themes (it's definitely not a family affair) you're going to have a great time. It seems to be attended mostly by college grads; so if you're looking for that late-20, early-30 something crowd this is a can't miss. If it was a TV pilot, I'd say it's Cheers meets Big Bang Theory....only funnier and more scientifically sound. Seriously though, don't let the 'Geeks' scare you away. It is very common knowledge, pop-culture focused. You won't be asked to derive anything....at least, they haven't yet.

Had lunch here. Turkey jack. Was a little greasy but tasty. Staff was pretty good. Patio was pretty cool, would be cooler without the road right there. Average to high prices.

As good as it gets when speaking beer and a good burger. Oniell's has never let me down when it comes to quality and consistency! Try geeks who drink on Sun and Weds, always a good time!

A fun place. We were there during a a Tap Takeover which was actually a lot of fun-- freebies, a raffle, lots of New Belgium beer on tap. Nachos are delicious. Heated patio was lively.

As authentically Irish as a bar of Irish Spring soap. This place is incredibly overpriced. 6 dollars for a draft beer? 9 dollars for a botled import? That's like an entree at most restaurants in town. I think the prices are purposefully structured so as to drive away the lower class crowds that tend to calcify on the barstools of the cheaper establishments, and to that end they are successful. This place is super Wonderbread Whitey McWhiterson most of the time, but becomes New Hipsteronia during the quiz nights (which are the only saving grace about this place). Oh, and our ABQ congressman diverted $1 million of stimulus money to this bar. I am serious. Nice bar...if you like yachting. If you want something more Irish, pick up a box of Lucky Charms.

A bar without TV's - this is clearly a first in my lifetime. They shouldn't even call themselves a bar. What a joke this place is and it can only happen in a joke of a city they call Albracracky. Owners should be ashamed of themselves. 0 stars baby!

NO TVs!!!!! The most memorable experience here was during the NBA Finals and I was going to meet some friends and finish off the game.... only to find out that they dont have tvs!! So i had to watch the gamecast on my phone. Sad day. With that being said... The beer is awesome... they have a great waitstaff... the boxty rueben is amazing.... and Geeks who drink trivia on sundays and wednesdays is fun as shit. You just have to make sure you get there before 8:30 to find a seat.

A great Irish-style pub. Prices are good, and food is great for pub food. Bartenders are generally friendly and attentive, some of the waitresses can be a bit moody sometimes. Of course, some of the patrons can be royal assholes, so that may explain some of the attitude. Overall though, I've never had any problems...just things I've seen while there. They have Geeks Who Drink several times a week, so that is a big plus as well. Their iced Irish Coffee is excellent, and they generally have a good selection of beers on tap and in bottle, occasionally including some drafts you don't see that often.

This place used to be great when it was at its original location, now it's really square. It always seems dead, and there is no one to strike up a conversation with. They tax their beer, so expect to pay an extra 0.25 or so on every drink. The food is marginal, avoid the fish and chips; I think they use Mrs Paul's or something like that. It always tastes frozen. I wish they would pan fry it like places up in the Midwest do. Anyway, there are so many other good places to eat at in the area. I would recommend putting this old horse out of its misery.

Last time i ate here, it was Easter Sunday, and my buddy and I had just arrived in ABQ to greet our host, and his selection for food and good times was this place. We arrived by car from Sierra Vista, AZ and were needing sustenance ASAP. I remember us getting down on some of the pub food, being served by our slightly absent-minded waitress (it's hit or miss with waiters everywhere). But then, we realized that "Geeks Who Drink", a pub quiz on Sundays, had just ended, and some knowledgable patrons had stuck back on this royal bunny day to shoot the shit and drink more. Our host, a ballsy dude who is very influential in the bicycle conmmunity in the area, bought drinks for a trio of ladies sitting at another table because I had said that the one wearing a very orange shirt was cute. After some team huddling on their end, they agreed to let us come over and then the party really started. We all had a good time. Sometimes there should be a section where you yelp the "company at such and such establishment", because O'Niell's was just a backdrop for a good time. Cheers! I had two new facebook friends for it.

Decent beer (only reason for a second star), but what about this place makes it a pub? Quite the deception. Serving shepherds pie doesn't count, so I can't figure it out. And no TVs...seriously? Good thing there's no decent sports to watch this time of year. Slow bartender too.

Very nice bar. Calm, pleasant atmosphere. Not quite as touristy feeling as other Irish style pubs in Albuquerque, and I like that. A generally good beer selection. The food is pretty tasty too - the shepherd's pie is very good. The fish and chips is well-cooked and good, although there are better places for it in Albuquerque. It's definitely a fun place to kick back with friends and enjoy some drinks and a meal. Not a loud bar by any means.

My boyfriend and I ate here while we spent the night in Albuquerque on our way from Las Vegas to Saint Louis. We originally found O'Niell's here on Yelp while searching for some late supper. After reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. They serve their entire menu until 12 midnight every night, except for Sundays (11pm). The two of us arrived at 11:30pm, just as the "Geeks Who Drink" quiz session was disbanding. The place cleared out very quickly, and we had our pick of the tables. I enjoyed the ambiance: warmly lit, small tables; an attractive bar; art hanging on the walls; a large blackboard covered in scrawled specials and an entertainment calendar. For a pub, the place was clean, attractive, bright, and welcoming. Our waiter, Johnathan, did a fantastic job serving us. He was gregarious and pleasant. He was talkative, but not enough to annoy us while dining. In fact, we found him quite engaging. He answered all our questions about the menu with ease, and accurately conveyed our order, right down to the substitutions. Fantastic food. We ordered the onion rings as a starter. They were crisp and delightful. For dinner, I had the mixed greens salad, and the fish and chips. The salad was composed of spring mix, shredded carrots, broccoli, tomato wedges, and mushrooms. It was a veggie lovers delight. As for the fish and chips, I had the impression they were previously frozen, as the fish was more grainy than flaky, though it still tasted very good. I substituted the veggie of the day for the fries, and it was a good thing I did. The veggies were great - green beans and red peppers grilled with olive oil and lightly seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the cheesy broccoli soup and the shepherd's pie. The soup was flavorful and smooth, made with four kinds of cheese and minced broccoli florets. A great balance of flavors. The shepherd's pie was the best I've ever tried: delicious lamb stew topped with skin-on mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese. We both loved it. For dessert, we shared a slice of Irish cream cheesecake. Fabulous. Johnathan told us it was made in-house, and it shows. The cake was creamy, light, and with ample Bailey's flavor. Did I mention the whipped cream? As other reviewers have written, O'Neill's had a huge selection of beers on tap and in bottles. I'm not much of a beer drinker, so my boyfriend and I shared a hard cider they had on draft. It was good! Our entire tab, dessert and drink included, came to only $50, before tip. Quite reasonable! I would recommend this place as a first-date location. It's casual, with a lot of decent drinks, and a diverse, unfussy menu. Oh, and there are lots of vegetarian options on the menu as well. Bring your hippie friends!

I have to give ONE STAR because that is the YELP system, but in reality I give it a big fat ZERO. This makes 3x going to O'Niell's on Central. First time was a work lunch and the food was edible but nothing spectacular. And too pricey to be a regular lunch venue. 2nd time brought a friend from San Diego, who LoVes beer. We got snubbed when the Bartendress found out my handsome companion was Gay! In 2011, are you EFF N kidding me!!! Today, I went to meet friends celebrating the nice weather at the Pubs on Central featuring outdoor patios. All other establishments welcomed us and our dogs EXCEPT O'Niell's. So if your Gay O'Niell's doesn't want your business. If you have dogs in tow, ditto! O'Niell's don't want you on their patio!!!

O'neills used to be a great Burque bar, but has since turned into a corporate wanna be Chili's. I was cut off for lunch after two beers because the bartender said they are only allowed to serve two drinks an hour. Take your parents here for lunch, not not your friends.

Decent pub food (reasonably priced, large servings), wide selection of bottled and draft beers, spacious patio area. Doesn't have a ton in the way of character, and the wait staff took a lot of hailing down for service, but seems like a good stop in Albuquerque if you are looking for both food & drinks and outdoor seating.

Last time I was at O'Niell's, it was still a tiny little joint--like a single wide trailer with six tables. Now it's been expanded into a really nice little restaurant/bar with a cozy atmosphere and great beer. I and some friends went there and had the lamb stew, the shepherd's pie and (the more health-conscious of us) the mixed greens salad. We also had some delicious "Frambozen", a raspberry Belgian brew that was out of this world. The night we went, we lucked out and it was Celtic Night - which meant we were treated to Michael Flatley-style dancing and bagpipe music. Loved it!

Food is good and the service is good, but my complaint is with the silverware. It is stained from previous use. A weekly scrub with Bar Keepers Friend cleaner would do it wonders!

I enjoy the patio, the beer and the atmosphere. The food is an overpriced disappointment. I was really excited when this location opened as I live a couple of blocks away, and there are no other similar establishments in the area. I still go there, don't get me wrong. The burger is ok I guess, but the Shepard's pie is bland, and I have literally gotten a STILL frozen piece of fish in my fish and chips. The food is pretty darn pricey and not good. The service is generally good, but on a couple of occasions was slow, and even hostile. By all means, sit on the patio and have a good (but again, kind of pricey) beer. But have dinner elsewhere.

This place is a nice bar/pub and great because it has plenty of beers on tap, plenty of obscure bottled micro brews, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Last night I went there alone and didn't feel like a jerk drinking a beer by myself. The service was quick and the staff is really friendly. I've been here plenty of times, and its nice to go to a place where I can hang inside or out (outside has a smoking and non-smoking section) and feel comfortable weather I'm with a group of buds or by myself like last night. The other thing I like about this place is that they showcase local artist on their walls, it's a lot better then seeing a bunch of beer advertisements and typical tacky pub decorations. grab a chair, grab a brew, grab a bite. its chill!

"good food, honest drink" is the mantra at this Irish pub that has a very neighborly feel to it. Bar fare is always consistent, although their burger in paradise is a notch above their other features. They always have events going on such as an art opening, or quiz nights, live music, and they have an adjoining space for special events as well. Great patio area. Close to 17 drafts I think and loads of bottled/canned beer selections. One personal drawback is the lack of a TV to watch sporting events. For a neighborhood pub not to have a TV, makes this place miss the mark whereas two fools or gecko's down the street fills this void.

One of the best brew selections in town, with plenty on draft. THE BEST patty melt I've ever tasted. A different vegetarian selection every day (The Weird Sandwich). Hot waitresses. Patio seating right on Rt 66. Geeks Who Drink. Double thumbs up!!!

O'Niell's is one of the best places to get a quality burger and a beer. There are no annoying televisions or radios, not a lot of crap on the wall (aside of local art), and just generally it's not Chili's. The beer selection (tap and bottled) is amazing and the green chili burgers and rueben are good enough to embrace the idea of obesity. The prices are higher than what you see elsewhere around town, but then again, you're not getting Blake's CrappyBurger.

Unfortunately they have gone down hill over the last few years. Food Isn't very since they opened their second location. Service is slower since all the original staff left, and it they have become very strict about alcohol sales. Once your order from someone, you can only use them for the rest of the night, and they are super strict about 2 drinks every 1 1/2 hours. no exceptions. Kinda annoying when your wait staff remind you every time they come by your table how many minutes before everyone can order again.

Geeks Who Drink (pub quiz) night is one of the most fun Abq events I've been to. The emcees were great the last time I was there, and the trivia questions were a good mix of hard and hilarious. I can't wait to go back. It tends to get really crowded for Geeks Who Drink, so get there early to score a table. O'Neill's also has great burgers, desserts, and an impressive beer selection.

Love this place. They have a very good beer selection (right now they have Stone Imperial Stout - ON TAP!). The food is good...not exactly traditional Irish food, but very good. Try the french dip (with green chile) and the reuben boxty.

They may have many beers & many whiskeys, but I can't drink here because it feels & looks like a food court at my local mall. Just because you put a giant Guinness mirror on the wall doesn't make it an Irish pub. Didn't eat here so I don't know how the food is.

This is a very nice pub to come to have a drink and some food. Atmosphere is very nice at both locations. Both have outdoor patios, but the Heights location's patio is one of the most beautiful in the city limits. Their green chile cheeseburger in paradise is always a hit with me. Their quesadilla appetizer also rocks. I have never had the shepherd's pie, but with the amount we buy for family members, it must be darned good. We tend to come during happy hour to visit with friends, and the service has always been good. Drink specials during happy hour are great. The owner is a very nice person, who I understand did most of the interior work on the two O'Niell's pubs in town. Impressive. Both locations have lots of parking on site. These are fun places to go, and popular, too. The noise level can get pretty high inside during happy hour, but it's a pub full of happy people, and you can always go outside for a quieter experience. Also, I have to say that I disagree that the pubs are not gay friendly, having been there for Albuquerque Pride and just out to dinner, lunch or happy hour with gay family and friends. We are always treated respectfully, as are all guests. Recommended!

This is one of the best pubs/bars in the whole city-certainly my favorite hangout. While the beers are not stunningly cheap, they have a great selection, and a good selection of whiskeys as well. Their new location is awesome, as is the new patio. I have been going to O'niell's for 5 years now, and was relieved that they found a new home. Also unlike many bars, the food is superb! There is a surprising amount of variety, and it is always done well. Specifically, the burgers are among the best I have ever had. Also, the table service is pretty much better than I have been able to get in any other pub type setting. Overall, it manages to combine all those intangibles into the place that you just always think of first when friends come to town or you need to celebrate. And one last note-in terms of food service and atmosphere, it is VASTLY superior to Kelly's and I think much more "real".
