Consistently good food and service over the past several months have earned the Oak Tree 5 stars. The black and blue burger, Rocca, Capone, fish and chips and salads are all excellent. You really can't go wrong with any thing on the menu. Well worth a try

Stopped in here on a whim after a training at CNM Workforce Center. I was initially disappointed that the patio was closed but soon saw a sign that said they were closing early for a group event- completely understandable. You order your food first from the counter and then find you seat. The menu has your normal sandwiches and then all their takes on them as well. The burgers smelled amazing, but I opted for The Charlie's Tuna Sandwich with fresh fruit. My colleague had the turkey pesto sandwich, the special of the day. I was surprised at how quickly the food came out, always concerns me, however this time it was welcomed. The tuna was great, not too much mayo. It was served on a nice whole wheat sliced bread with a pickle spear. The fruit was great, fresh cut cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes and oranges. I will definitely be back to sit on the patio, order a craft beer and a burger. I would highly recommend this place if you are on this side of town for lunch. Four stars only because they would not serve me side of avocado because it is portioned out for sandwiched only (bit confused by that).

I have searched on my own and by word of mouth for the best hamburger in Albuquerque. I am very, very picky about my food so the quest has been a long one. But wow, I finally found a place that can make a burger. I had the Hawaiian burger and it was amazing. My daughter had the regular burger and couldn't finish it but was very happy with it. My husband had the grilled chicken with asparagus and was very happy as well. The owner/manager was very attentive. He overheard me say I love Juan Canary melon (it was on my husband's plate) so he brought me three pieces of it on him. I thought that was very nice. Now my reason for only four stars. Upon walking in there was a large, loud table sitting by the north window. Unfortunately the ceiling is made of steel so the sound reverberates and this place is very loud. I made mention of this as I walked in and was mocked by two guys sitting at the bar to which the bartender/order taker laughed. The other unfortunate thing is there is nothing telling you how to walk into this place (walk in turn right and see the menus). The bartender/order taker made sure I knew I did it wrong and her attitude pretty much sucked the whole time she took our order. If I could avoid her I would go back there often. But since I am also very, very picky about wait staff and I didn't like her, I probably won't be going back. If I do, I'll call it in and pick it up.

Always great food and service. I'm glad they found a great location and now serve beer too. The specials really are special and they have the best pasta salad in town.
(4)Eric S.
The only reason this is marked 4 and not 5 stars is because I am not a big fan of walk up counter ordering - other than that WOW.. Friendly staff, plenty of beer choices, and A-Maz-Ing food! I ordered the Sexy Hawaiian with Mac salad - ummm ummm ummm. It came out perfect / dripping with pinnacle juice, teriyaki, and was out of this world. Service was prompt and we were checked on during our meal - this shop tucked along Alameda is a "must find"!

Neat little place near our house. The atmosphere is friendly, you can tell there a some regulars that go here. The owner?/manager seemed very nice and was working the room well. They have alot of beer choices if you are a beer person. I ordered the Friday special of fish and chips with house coleslaw. The fish was cooked perfectly and I loved the coating on the fries. The coleslaw was just okay, but for $12.99 I expected a little bit better. My husband loved his Hawaiian burger. I would definitely go back there and try something different and have a Corona Light on Tap.

The name does not match the place but those are details I can get over. The family sports bar feel is relaxing and the windows let you see the mountains in the distance. Nice little patio with 16 beers on tap. The food is good and you can go healthy or with classic pub food. Friday Fish and Chips really rocked! Check this place out, you will not be disappointed.

I used to frequent the old location on Menaul which is now closed (I believe). As with most of the places I'm a regular at, I usually stick with one or two menu items. The Capone is my go-to sandwhich here and it has gotten better over the years. I think it's the bread. It's near perfection. The pasta salad is the side I always get and of course a side of Italian dressing which I dip my sandwhich into and pour into my pasta side. This location has nice decor, is clean and the service is very good. Pricing is about right compared to other similar sandwhich shops. A one star knock for being slightly skimpy on the meat (two more slices of meat would be nice) but I have to say...I get pretty full after lunch here and I'm a BIG eater. You make a solid sandwhich, Rob. Keep it up!

Seriously amazed- for a bit I felt like I was no longer in Albuquerque, felt like I was back in Denver or San Diego! Seriously comfortable atmosphere, well laid out decor with friendly staff. The owner is amazing with his staff and is openly appreciative with them. I ordered the Extreme and my wife the Swiss Gobler. Both were fresh and seriously tasty! The fried pickles were prefectly lightly battered and not greasy tasting. As soon as we walked in weer were fondly greater and the owner asked if I would like to taste a few doesn't beers. I must say- my new favorite spot for a little get away is definitely The Oak Tree Cafe!!!!!
(5)Lara G.
Amazing service- the guy who owns it is very friendly. Service was quick and food was delicious! Would definitely recommend this place.
(5)Celine C.
I really like this place. I've been there a few times now and have enjoyed delicious burgers and sandwiches. They've got a great selection of beer. My favorite it Smithwicks, pronounced Smiticks. Be sure and pronounce it correctly when ordering or you will be corrected by the cashier.

This place was a real gem to find while in town passing thru. The owner and the staff were amazingly friendly. The California Salad was outstanding and a healthy portion. Good selection of beer on tap. Just an all round great experience!
(5)Bike Chaplain O.
We had the chili cheese fries for lunch. We were disappointed. No kick in the green chili. Little cheese. Quantity of fries was small. No meat in chili. Somewhat soupy. Hamburgers are pricey from $8 to $10 and only come in half pound versions. This is not a working class restaurant as thought. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

Great service, beer, sandwiches, and other patrons! Really clean and good ambiance. We'll be back!
(4)Di C.
The food was great, the service was fun and great even though it was an order at the counter type of establishment. We loved the food and the fun atmosphere. We only wish we had more opportunities to eat here.
(5)Jess R.
I love the set up of this place. Pay for your food, help yourself to refills and cutlery, it's the way a sandwich shop should be. Weed out the entitled snobs and help yourself. The place is immaculate from entry to restrooms and the live plants really add character. The food is amazing. I've never had a better macaroni salad and that bread! I had a chicken sandwich and it was by far one of the best I've ever had. Loved the green chile mayo. The beer list is nice too and we paid $3.50 a pint during happy hour. Service was exceptional. The man at the counter who I assumed was the owner, checked with us asking specifically what we liked about the food and beer. We will be going back soon!
(5)Eddie W.
Everything on the menu is great. Sandwiches are not your normal sandwiches. Very tasty and different. Such as the artichoke turkey sandwich. I highly recommend the macaroni salad as a side.
(5)Annabelle D.
Al Capone is one of the best sandwiches I have had!!! And you have to order the macaroni salad! Delicious!
(5)Louis B.
Selected this place as a convenient location to meet a friend... my first visit. The place was very busy and the atmosphere was definitely reflective of people enjoying their lunch! I tend to judge a restaurant by its Cobb Salad, and was absolutely delighted with this restaurant's version. Lots of spinach, a generous portion of chicken, shredded tomatoes (nice touch!!), and other classic ingredients, very pleasing to the eye and palate! Will succumb to burger envy on next visit!
(5)Scott B.
Best Damn Reuben Sandwich In ABQ!! The wife and I had tried to go here several times before but they were always closed. Well worth the wait. That Reuben is a double-decker of deliciousness. The owner told me that he cooks the corned-beef on premises in Guinness and it really comes through in the flavor. Try the Apple Cole Slaw as well.

This place is delish! Staff is very friendly too! New favorite for sure!

This place opened up not too long ago, and I'm glad they did. It's not far from my office, and with the weather getting nice and warm this time of year, their patio is very inviting for lunch and happy hour sessions. They have a great selection of sandwiches to choose from, and some wraps, too. A few burgers to go for, and they've got salads to round it all out. As for appetizers, I dig that they have fried pickles and fried green beans. Good selection of beers on tap, nice happy hour. This place is usually full, and for good reason. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the service is on-top-of-it.
(4)Rand R.
I first ate at Oak Tree Cafe in 1991 when they were located in my office building downtown. 21 years and a couple locations later Oak Tree is still thriving in a great newly built building. Great food, fast extra friendly service, and a nice patio. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, beer and wine. $3.50 happy hour too!
(4)Andy P.
Great sandwiches and the bread is the best you have ever had!! Friendly staff and just a great place to eat!!
(5)Geoff N.
Finally made it into the place when it was open (they close early on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays). The food was good, if not a little overpriced (yada-yada Burqueños are cheap). As other commenters have mentioned, the sides are extra for everything (including the burgers). Stopped by for a late lunch 2pm, so had the whole place to myself. The decor is American Kitsch (elvis, gangsters, etc) but they have a well-apportioned beer selection (Cider on tap!). I'll be going back to try the burgers (stopped in for a simple sandwich on my first go-round), but this place definitely merits a second trip!
(3)Jon S.
This place was such a nice surprise! From the minute I walked in until I left the staff went out of there way to make sure I was taken care of. The food was fresh and flavorful with some spicy options... I'll definitely be back.
(5)John L.
Plain Burger was great. While the order was mixed up, the staff made it right with a great attitude. Reasonable beer selection, though they did not have some of the better local beers. The Swiss gobbler was good, fresh turkey key. No glasses for soda drinkers, but endless refills. I would go back.
(4)Clara S.
Good food and beer and right around the corner, can't complain.

Super excited! I had eaten at the old location on Menaul years ago and loved it. I just discovered that they are fairly close to my work now and I am incredibly happy. We went yesterday for lunch, and the food is still as delicious as it was before! I had the Extreme and it was wonderful. Green chile was fresh, the roast beef was thinly sliced, but still had some pink in it. My only complaint (not really a complaint because it still tasted good) was that the bread is HUGE and it was caked with flour. Whoever they use as their bakery needs to dust the flour off a lot more than they do. My boyfriend would say that it is over priced, but he thinks everything is overpriced. I did not mind paying 8.95 for the size of the sandwich that I received. I only at half and was able to save the other for today. I highly recommend this restaurant!!
(4)Stefan K.
Excellent restaurant! Amazing food, great beer selection. Their fish and chip Fridays is among the best in the city. The owners are great too!

Horrible

Great place! Good menu, walk up to register and order, take number and get your drink. Really clean and good quick service. I love the location of this restaurant because there is nothing on alameda/Jefferson area except a Brewery and Subway. The prices for the sandwiches, warps, burgers and salad were priced good from $6-$10. I got the Al Capone which was amazing and fresh with a macaroni salad. Unlimited refills too. They just got Beer and Wine so they have local brews on draft. There is a patio area so I might try for a happy hour soon.

The Oak Tree Cafe is not just another sandwich shop. It's a welcoming cafe offering flavorful, hand-crafted food. My family and I visited Oak Tree Cafe this afternoon and feasted on the daily special of fish and chips (the fish was firm and tasty with a crispy batter), the Oak Tree Combo sandwich (made with several different meats, including top round roast beef, turkey breast, corned beef, and ham, specially prepared by the proprietor), and the Taos sandwich (ingredients included top round roast beef spiced up with NM green chile). The homemade apple cole slaw was delicious and refreshing. We also had an opportunity to enjoy fried pickles with Ranch dressing, which was an interesting and welcome taste treat for us all. The Oak Tree Cafe offers beer (12 of 'em on tap!) and wine. My daughter enjoyed a Santa Fe pale ale while my husband and I quenched our thirsts with Schofferhofer - a hefeweizen grapefruit beer! Overall, a great dining experience. We enjoyed chatting with the amiable and attentive owners and plan to return soon!
(5)Donald B.
Hands down the best deli in Albuquerque! Rob the owner is outstanding at making people feel welcome! The burgers are incredible! If you are hungry, this is the place!
(5)Ashley J.
The food here is delicious, all the time every time. You can't go wrong; everything on the menu is wonderful. The atmosphere is clean and inviting.
(5)Christopher M.
I've eaten here twice now and had two different wraps. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was courteous and attentive. The casual atmosphere is comfortable and easy. This is definitely a new favorite lunch spot!
(4)Crystal C.
No variety in the menu- lots of chicken breast sandwiches. Not worth $8 a sandwich. Bland pasta side. Not going to recommend it.
(2)Jim F.
Went for lunch and ordered a salad that was supposed to have chicken on it. Waitress brought the salad out and told me they were out of chicken! How does a restaurant that has many entrees on it's menu containing chicken run out of it? And it's not even dinner time on a Friday! Waitress offered to bring more lettuce. When pointed out that chicken costs more than lettuce, she offered a $1 discount!

AWESOME.... I've been here twice now this time I tried the fish and chips on Friday the best in town also had a Newcastle beer my wife had a cowgirl burger and sweet potato fries with the bella blonde ale beer and for dessert we had a cheesecake topped with strawberries the staff was very friendly and helpful on our choices........

This Restaurant has moved. It's now located at 4545 Alameda NE. They were hopping the day I stopped in for a quick lunch. The set up is a stand in line, order, get served, same as Flying Star or Pei Wei. The serve an assortment of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and salads. I ordered a Cobb salad, as it a typical favorite of mine. They serve beer, and seem to have an assortment, but as it was lunch and I was working, I had a tea. The Cobb was fine. It was served with a piece of grilled chicken, which was nice, the greens were good, I really liked the bacon, it basically had all the regular Cobb suspects. And it was fine. I think somewhere along the way, I became spoiled and started to like my Cobb all mixed up. Or maybe while all the ingredient were yummy, it wasn't done with the correct amounts of flavors, so when you took that bite, you had enough complexity of flavors, without stealing from the rest of the salad. I wouldn't go out of my way, but if I were hungry and driving by, I'd stop again, and try something else.

Always wondered about this place. Could never find it when it was on Menaul. Now that we have found it, will be visiting often. I had one of the burgers; 1/2 lb. of lean meat, cooked just right with green chili, cheese and all the fixins. Companion had one of the chicken sandwiches. Her only complaint was the huge, thick bun. Too much bread. French fries were some of the best we've ever had, and a good sized portion. We both shared a Harps beer, and were really surprised at the number of beers on tap. Management is very nice about splitting orders and changing things. We will definitely be back on a Friday for their Fish and Chips. Give this place a try.!!!
(4)Jonathan G.
Easy to get to location near the Alameda exit on I-25 and really close to my work. Went with a friend for lunch and it wasn't too busy. Staff was really friendly and took our order quick. I noticed when I was ordering they had some decent craft beers on tap and they have happy hour specials. I ordered the turkey jack sandwich with green chile. It was served on a fresh baguette and the portion was huge! Inside was well kept and clean. I will definitely try this place again.

We've been here twice now since they've relocated to the Alameda location near the Balloon Fiesta Park. We'd never been previously and are so thrilled we tried the Oak Tree! The owner is personable, runs a great place and even remembers your name! The first time we visited he introduced himself to us and we discussed the onion rings. He mentioned they make a Black & Tan onion ring also on certain days. When we returned he remembered us even though it had been a month! He sent an order to our table and they were THE best onion rings we'd ever eaten ~ bar none! Our sandwiches were excellent both times, the staff was very friendly and approachable. The inside of the building has been done very nicely and they have a glass garage type door that opens to allow easy access to the patio seating. I imagine it would be a great place to sit during the Balloon Fiesta as you'd have a wonderful view. We noticed on the chalkboard at the front door that they also have a happy hour. There are great appetizers and most of the sandwiches come with a side of apple coleslaw (just enough apple taste, but not too much), pasta salad - very light and peppery or I think a fruit cup (don't quote me here). Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we got and I think the Oak Tree Cafe is a great addition to this area of town. Try it, you'll like it!
(5)Maricarmen P.
Let me start by saying that the 3 stars go to the really friendly and speedy service. As a quick bite this place is great, specially if you are looking for a great selection of beers. The "Extreme" sandwich had a nice presentation and was a good size, -not huge, like I've read in some reviews- but nice enough size for me at about 6". Unfortunately I wasnt impressed with the bread, meat or ingredients. For the price (which is reasonable dont get me wrong) and specially for an "au jus" sandwich I would have expected a warm sandwich with home roasted meats and flavorful ingredients. Mine was more like thinly shaved store bought roasted beef with bland green chile -yes, bland green chile- and cold -yes, cold- au jus. Just like Subway on a slightly crustier bread. Even worse: they didn't pack a pickle :( I love pickles, that would have made me so happy. Oh well next time. So this sandwich didn't blow my socks off, but I love local businesses so I'll be back and try out their made-to-order burguers and give this spot another chancy-chance!
(3)Jules S.
I wish I would have visited this place sooner! New favorite lunch spot in the area and the prices are great, the restaurant is clean the service is on point. When we ordered the man at the counter was friendly and the food came super quick!
(5)Ashley H.
Wow. Just wow. I work just yards from the Oak Tree and I visit often. Tonight (8.23.13) we stopped by with a work group to grab a drink. Amazing happy hour specials. 3.50 draft beers and discounted apps. Food is amazing. Burgers are juicy and made to order. Everything is fresh and served up with care. Not just thrown together. My favorite appetizer is the fried green beans! Mmmm! Not many joints in food service care enough about customer service. I can tell you though Oak Tree does! They know our names and greet us each time we visit. It just makes the food taste so much better. 5 stars aren't enough to express how much I love this place.
(5)Kay S.
Enjoyed the oak tree burger with no bun. Large hamburger patty cooked to about medium well. Comes only with a pickle so all sides are additional. I enjoyed a side of fruit which had strawberries, oranges and some melon. Other people I was with enjoyed burgers as well or the Reuben and all had great things to say. Very friendly service. Was told the fries were great and they're especially good with ranch dressing. Went for lunch so didn't had anything to drink but they have wide selection of beers. Also, looks like they have live music on occasion so look for that if interested in having a nice casual dinner with burgers, beer and music.
(4)Oso B.
Has potential..nice atmosphere, decent menu, and good location. Falls short on value. I cannot get past that there is no side (i.e. french fries are not included) with a burger. That's an expensive burger all alone on that big plate...looked like something was missing?! While the fries ordered as a side were delicious and presented in a tall basket cone, by the time you add fries separately, we felt it too expensive for what you get. We also had a turkey green chile sandwich on a yummy baguette that was decent. I'm not a mayo fan, so skipped the side offerings of slaw or macaroni salad and opted for the fruit. Pineapple and grapes were super fresh, orange slice dried out. Can get a comparable quality meal for less elsewhere, so we won't be rushing back, which is too bad.
