My family and I were craving fish tacos. I kept driving by this place and thought we would should give it a shot. The place specializes in Mexican seafood. We packed up the family and drove over to this place. As we entered the place it wasn't empty during dinner time. This was a good sign. We were promptly greeted and seated. The waitress immediately took our drink orders. My kids even got a few crayons and something to color. So far so good. The menu also had some great pictures of the food. Everything was great. Then we ordered our food. My sister and wife ordered the fish tacos. We ordered a few kids meals for my girls. One kid's meal with chicken nuggets and one with fish sticks. I couldn't decide on what I wanted. I kept looking at the fish soup. I remember when I lived in Las Cruces, I would order a fish soup at a place and it was delicious. So I decided to order the fish soup. We were given chips and salsa. Everything was great. The waitress was awesome and attentive. She did a great job. So far everything was great and I had no concerns. Then our food arrived. The fish tacos looked pretty good. My sister and wife both agreed that they were ok. Not the best. My daughter really liked her fish sticks and other daughter ate most of her food. I took one bite of my soup and I was so disappointed. The fish was terrible. It was tough and full of bones. The taste was a little off. I finally just stopped eating it after a few bites. I can't remember the last time I have done this. The waitress came around and I had to tell her. She was polite and didn't look surprised. When the bill came, they didn't charge me for the soup. I hate when restaurants do this, because I still left hungry and disappointed. I would have given this place 1 star, but the waitress was really good. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. If you are driving by and want to stop in. I would pass. We weren't impressed and it was on the pricey side. It was really a bummer. Cheers!
I'm going to tell you three things about this restaurant. 1. Thursday's $5 drinks in a fish bowl 2. Oysters 3. Shrimp cocktail The menu is awesome--the location hard to find. Read my list again and you'll see why details are sketchy, but a "must do" locale when you are in Albuquerque or stuck anywhere on the West-side on a Thursday.

Great food, excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices with very good happy hour specials. There's really nothing more to say. I'll stop in again next time I'm traveling through Albuquerque

Very good mixed seafood enchiladas - sweet flavor and generous amounts of crab & shrimp. The chimichanga was good, but it's more like large taquitas with there being approximately 6 pieces that you can pick up and eat with your hands. We found the chimis to be a little too dry for our tastes. This could be a "Mexican" versus "TexMex" difference or just their spin on a chimi. We'll definitely try it again next time we are in the area. If you've never been, you need to know a couple things. One, this isn't a fancy restaurant - the seating and interior are similar to IHOP, Denny's, etc. And don't worry about how to dress. We were there on Valentines Day and saw very few people dressed up. Most were in jeans and t-shirts. The staff was very friendly and helped us make menu decisions. We were asked by four different people if everything was going well. Getting a table was awkward though. We were visiting town for a conference that happened over Valentine's Day weekend and wanted to eat here on the big night out. I called early to see if I could make reservations and was told because it's Valentine's, they aren't doing reservations but we could call ahead to get on the list. That seemed odd to not have reservations on such a big dinning out night, but I went with it. Called 15-20 mins before we got there and they put us on the list. We get there and there were several parties waiting for seating, so calling ahead was definitely a good idea. The person in front of us checking in said they had a reservation for 6:45 and they checked her off...What? A reservation? I checked in and they asked if we'd like to sit in the bar while we wait, it wouldn't be more than 10-15 mins and they'd come get us. We figured we'd grab a drink and wait a few mins. About 5 mins after sitting in the bar, one of the hostess brings us silverware and a menu...why do we need menus if we'll be sitting at a table in 5-10 mins? After evaluating our current table and the table we'd get in the regular restaurant, we decided to just eat in the bar. I think they were probably just overwhelmed by the crowd. We are flexible so it wasn't a big deal, but I know some people that would really have issues with the situation.

I recently had a short visit to Albuquerque and while I don't usually pick Mexican as my first choice, I went because of proximity to my hotel. Wow, was I ever pleasantly surprised. First off, they gave me a free margarita just because I was staying at one of the nearby hotels. Then I had the BEST sea bass I have ever had. It was so good, I came back the second night and had it again, and returned the third night to try some shrimp and loved it also. I don't think I have ever gone to the same restaurant three nights in a row, but it was so good, plus everyone was very friendly. Be sure to tell them which hotel you are at so you can get your free margarita.

It is one of my regular places to eat. Not only is the atmosphere fun, especially the live music, but the food is excellent. The owners are extremely friendly, the staff is great. Would recommend it to anyone for both Mexican food and seafood.

Driving through Albuquerque and stayed near this restaurant. The hotel desk clerk recommended and said if I mentioned that I was staying at that hotel, I could get a complimentary Margarita. I thanked the desk clerk when I came back because this was one of the best Mexican meals I've ever had. Great Margarita, not too much salt, which is the way I like it. I had the Taco and Chili Relleno plate which came with rice and beans. Got the beef taco (could have had chicken) and it was delicious. Wonderfully seasoned pulled beef and topped with fresh shredded lettuce, diced onions & tomatoes, and cilantro. (I do not care for cilantro in general but this was not a heavy coating of it,and to my surprise I loved the slight taste) I fell in love with Chili Rellenos with my first one, probably 40 years ago, and have been chasing that wonderful taste since. Mariscos' Chili Relleno was the only one I've had in decades that equaled the first one I had and I've had many Mexican meals in many states as well as in Mexico. The chili was completely de-seeded, so it was not hot at all, and all the lovely delicate green chili taste was not overwhelmed by heat. The spices of the coating were delicate, the coating was not greasy and overcooked, and the cheese inside was perfect. Maybe my biggest surprise though was the refried beans and rice, both of which, were some of the best I've ever had. I am rarely completely satisfied with every aspect of a particular meal, but this gets 5 stars from me for being perfection in my opinion. The restaurant itself, is clean, roomy, tastefully decorated and all the staff I came in contact with, hostess and waitresses, were attentive, efficient, and friendly. . My dinner was $10.69 including tax, more than reasonable. Don't know how much the Margarita was because it was complimentary.

This seems to be where non-tourists go, so why was I here? The Hoff found this place, so kudos to him. The interior is pretty non-descript in terms of creating ambience unless you count the very large fish tank (the Hoff says, "Look, you choose your own fish" - he's mean that way). We were seated at a booth. Any time I get to sit in a booth, I am happy. There may have been a shortage of silverware, as we didn't receive any initially, nor did another table. So it was amusing to watch various waiters steal silverware from empty tables (I think they were clean forks, but you never know... just kidding, they were wrapped in hermetically sealed napkins). I ordered the chicken chimichanga, which is what I usually get back home. It came in these smaller rolled pieces; I've never seen it done that way. They were bite sized. Although odd, they were tasty. I couldn't finish the six pieces, because of the other "stuff" on the plate. They serve a four star margarita, so I am giving this place four stars. It was yummy. I'd go here again...maybe. Because I like being able to go somewhere that locals go, I have this to say: Tourists: STAY AWAY! Locals: ENJOY!

What a great place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! The margarita's were smooth and delicious - probably one of the best margarita I've ever had. I went with a cheese enchilada and rice for dinner. Delicious! The enchilada sauce was a bit spicy and that made it really good. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was fun. They also serve seafood so there were a lot of sea-inspired decorations sprinkled about with a pinata here and there. I was too distracted to remember to photograph my food because something about all the happy Cinco-de-Mayo'ers set my Mom-in-law off and next thing ya know, she's sobbing into her margarta... Awkward. But, my hubby and I tried to keep the mood festive and enjoy the great food and spirits at Marisco's. It really is a fun place! :)

I love coming to this place when I'm craving for Mexican (Not New Mexican) cuisine and seafood. Come during happy hour is when you get your bang for your buck. They have a variety of seafood dishes, including crab quesidilla; however, since I can't eat crab I opted for the Shrimp quesidilla. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and the little shrimps aren't over done. I have orderd their Carne Asada (Steak) Tacos and their portion sizes are huge. I would not recommend ordering their regular steak dishes tho. Their wait staff is very friendly. This place looks like it used to be a Cocos and rennovated with shipermans decore :)

I like that this is a Mexican (not New Mexican) restaurant. Best chile rellanos in town. Lots of seafood choices but we go for the traditional dishes. The chicken and shredded beef are good.

My wife and I were on a road trip out west with the kids and spent a night in Albuquerque. We needed a good place to eat on that night, and after searching through yelp.com for good eating places, we decided to take our chances on the highly reviewed Marisco's Altamar. Neither my wife nor I regretted this at all! I had the Mojito Dragon, she had the Lava Colada with an appetizer of chips and salsa and the Quesadilla Deluxe I then proceeded to get the Crab Enchiladas, and she got the Shrimp Enchiladas. Let me say that that colada was one of the best pina coladas I have ever tasted, and between the two of us, we have had a lot of those at different places. This place also had a live band performing some jazzy tejano or whatever you want to call it, and we enjoyed it even if it was mostly in Spanish. The food was great, it is one of the best Mexican restaurants we have ever been to!

We stopped in Albuquerque en route to Los angeles after vacation. Moriscos happened to not be far from our hotel and caught our eye on the way. We ordered. and shared, the shrimp, steak and chicken fajitas (with left overs). I have to say the best fajitas I have ever had! No exaggeration. Service was okay but above all was a nice experience. Can not get over how delicious the fajitas are! Definitely Worth trying! Especially if you are just passing through...

Marisco's Altamar is a very good Mexican seafood place with a really awesome happy hour. This was the first place I visited on my New Mexican vacation, and we happened to enter during happy hour. There are numerous food and drink specials, and I particularly enjoyed the very generous discount on oysters. I could totally see myself coming here and downing a dozen oysters several times a month. They also have flamed oysters in red sauce with cheese, which was quite good but not part of the happy hour. One touch I particularly like is the providing of a frosted, salt rimmed glass with the beers. Nothing beats a cold mexican beer with a lime and some salt on a hot day. Very authentic and very much appreciated. The service here overall is top notch... our waitress was extremely friendly. Aside from the oysters, I also had the chile rellenos, which was ok but pretty average. I think I'd stick with seafood if I were to ever return to Albuquerque. The food is also a tad bit on the greasy side as well, though not too horribly so. Overall, I definitely recommend this place.

It's true that this place has a $3.95 breakfast special, which I think runs just Monday-Thursday. It's good that I did not discover this earlier, or I'd be here too often for el desayuno. Everything on the breakfast plate was cooked just right. I also lunched here recently and had a great plate of food that will take a few miles of running to burn off. I ordered the crab enchiladas, which were a mix of pollock and real crab. Even with the imitation crab, I still managed to eat the entire plate of rice, beans and enchiladas for $11.35. You will not go away hungry. It's been a few years since I had their margaritas, but I remember them fondly. Waitresses really aim to be very friendly, even if they are not speaking their native tongue.

Overnighting in Albuquerque, we chose Mariscos Altamar for dinner. A party of three, we each ordered something different but shared a Ceviche Tostado appetizer. One ordered chicken fajitas, another the seafood platter, and I ordered the beef tacos al carbon. All three entrees were delicious. The service was friendly, courteous, and prompt.

Excellent!!! The food is great, the prices are low ($6-$12 per person), the service is superb, and the portions are large. What more could you ask for? Some of Albuquerque's best Mexican Seafood. Very informal and comfortable atmosphere. Great for breakfast, or a night out with someone special.

First time in there and I have to say, never have I ever, had better service in Albuquerque. The waiter was quick and attentive without being annoying, and as polite as anyone could possibly expect. The shrimp octopus and fish were fresh, well prepared and very well priced. The margaritas were cheap and some of the best in Albuquerque. Will definitely be back.

Mexican seafood? Yes, please! Coastal Mexican is fanfreakintastic, and I am a huge fan. Crab enchiladas, say what? Yeah, they have them... and they're amazing. I don't think you can get them anywhere else in town. This is pretty much the only thing I eat here, but the fish tacos are tasty as well. Mexican food is different than New Mexican, and this place knows what's up. Everything has always been fresh, hot, and super flavorful on my visits. The staff is friendly, we get seated pretty quickly even when it's busy, and the live music only adds to the atmosphere.

Second choice for the night. Seafood seems to mean shrimp here. Mixed 'seafood' enchiladas (shrimp and crab) just ok. Margarita was way too heavy on the tequila. Wouldn't come back

Great costal Mexican cuisine. The food is pretty authentic with a few slight Americanized variations. The staff is friendly and will gladly make recommendations. Atmosphere is open with a small bar area. Good drink specials.

This place is solid and is as good as they come outside of San Diego, CA! The ceviche is the most memorable you will ever have and makes you want to steal their recipe. Albuquerque is lucky to have this place in town and a visit here is often a cultural adventure with authentic food, occasional mariachis and great service. A must try and I guarantee you will be back!

Stopped here for dinner on a long road trip. We shared a bowl of Altamar soup - excellent, lots of fish, very tasty. I had the crab & shrimp enchiladas with green sauce, full of shrimp and imitation crab ( I didn't expect real crab) and really enjoyed it. My husband had the Shrimp Veracruz and raved about it. Very good service and, as we were there on Sat night, there was a singing guitarist strolling around. Would recommend.

I was so excited to come here for dinner because the La Quinta Inn where we were staying recommended it. We were told at our hotel check in that they offer a free margarita to hotel customers with a key. This was a great incentive to go there after a long ride from Phoenix, Arizona (6+ hours). My husband and I were greeted when we walked in and seated promptly. The restaurant was nearly empty except for three or four customers. I requested the free margarita showing my room key and my husband did the same. To our surprise the waiter returned with one margarita. He explained it was one margarita per table. This is not what we had been told. So disappointing! After talking with the waiter for a couple of minutes it became very clear that if my husband and I sat at different tables we both would have gotten a free margarita. At that moment I was tempted to go and sit at another table just to prove a point. My husband encouraged me against that plan of action and he just ordered a beer. In my opinion this is a crazy offer. Who goes to a restaurant and sits separately from their spouses or companions. I am disappointed that I ate at this restaurant, because there were others choices in the area. In addition, the free house margarita wasn't that good and the food was bland. My husband and I both ordered the Enchiladas Rancheros, he ordered beef and I ordered the chicken. I will definitely speak with the hotel clerk because this should be made very clear before sending anyone to eat there. I am sure they will not change anything about the free margarita deal. BUT THEY SHOULD!

Again, for living in a landlocked state this place isn't shabby. We had an excellent meal and beverage before heading to a show at Isleta Casino. We were seated right away and our server attended to us quite often. For that alone, I bumped up the rating to a 4-star. They had a nice man playing the guitar with old Spanish/Mexican love songs, which just reminds me of growing up and my beautiful mama.

Didn't get what I ordered but what I was served was very good. Ordinarily I would have made an issue of it, but was too hungry to wait any longer. Next time...
We drive from the east mountains and clear across Alb. to eat here. It's casual, friendly and the food is delicious! Love the ceviche...and reasonably priced

First time trying this place and it was so so. We arrived and greeted promptly and politely. Service was good at first then we barely saw our waitress. The restrooms could have been cleaned and trash picked up. We received our appetizer and it was good until we found a HAIR in it (yuck). When we got our bill we asked why it wasn't removed, all the waitress said was she told her manager and she didn't have anything to say. All the waitress said To us was "sorry for the inconvenience, can I get you another appetizer" wow! I thought yeah sure so we can something else in that. NO THANK YOU. Very disgusted and disappointed. The one thing that I can say that earned the two stars was the strawberry daiquiri and Tokyo tea. Will not be returning to this restaurant again.

This is an authentic mexican seafood restaurant. Start your meal off sharing the large shrimp ceviche. My favorite meal is the shrimp wrapped in bacon with a piece of jalapeno in the middle. This little bundle is then placed in the deep fryer and cooked to crispy perfection. I have seen the owners of another authentic mexican restaurant throw a party here so you know it has to be good. It can get very busy in there so be prepared to wait.

So all I need to say is that they put lettuce and cheese on fish tacos really?????? That's what they put on tacos at Taco Bell. My second complaint is the service at the bar. Nobody cares who wants to go out with you and nobody cares that your getting your wisdom teeth taken out. What I care about is not having to ask for my first and second beer or my chips and salsa or limes for my tacos. I know your young but working behind the bar still means you have to help people and not just bs with your regular customer.

Andrew D.
I really enjoyed the meal and would serve promptly. all of the employees are very friendly. the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I ordered a soup with a variety of seafood, and it included that fake crab stick that should never be seen in a real seafood restaurant. besides that though I would go back and try other things making sure they leave that off my plate.
(4)

Not the best choice for Mexican seafood in Albuquerque. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, and the wait staff was very good. However, the food was mediocre. The ceviche didn't taste fresh at all. The fish tacos tasted like frozen fish sticks torn up into small pieces, awful. If you want excellent fish tacos, put on your bulletproof vest and head down to Sharky's just down the road. If you want excellent, interesting Mexican seafood, check out Mariscos La Playa. Will not return.

We ate here last night while on a visit to Albuquerque. Wife had shrimp cocktail and I had a combo of a pastor taco and a Chile relleno. The food was good but not over the top. The salsa with chips was too hot for my taste (and I'm a salsa eatin' gringo). Don't go here looking for a small mexican restaurant because the atmosphere is very modern and americanized. The prices were reasonable. The service is their downfall. Young server did not know what was in the avacado salad and our waters were only refilled when the meal was over.

Kristen V.
The service was good, food was ok.... Might have been better but we were kinda disgusted when the waitress brought out a new glass of water... The glass was full of lipstick marks from previous person to drink out of it. Guess I should rephrase my first sentence. Service was friendly but not very observant.

Dined here for breakfast on a Tuesday morning & had an entirely enjoyable meal. I ordered the Mojarra Frita (deep fried fish) & it came with a side of rice & fries. It was tasty & a good start to my day. My wife ordered eggs with rice & beans & she liked it. The house salsa was a nice addition to pour on your food. Prices are pretty darn reasonable with breakfasts being around 3.95!!

Absolutely amazing! The food was great... The best I have had in a very long time. Whoever runs this place definitely has perfected the atmosphere. The live music creates an ambiance which invites you to sit for hours. The staff is comfortable, helpful, and happy. And, again, the food is so good. If I lived in Albuquerque I would certainly become a regular at Marisco's Altamar.

Didn't hit the spot. This restaurant was clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the meals we ordered were not that great. My husband ordered the fish soup and wasn't even able to finish it. He spent most of the time picking meat from the bone (read more about this in his review). My sister and I both ordered the fish taco plates. I thought they were bland, my sister said she'd had much better. I did like the rice, I found a hair (maybe my own) in the beans. My daughter's enjoyed their meals (nuggets and fried fish), drinks and ice cream. The waitress (who was great) alerted the manager that my husband was dissatisfied with his meal, the manager did come over and offer that the kitchen make him something else. Because none of us particularly enjoyed our meals, he declined. They didn't charge us for my husbands meal. however, after paying we realized that the price on the kid's menus did not match what we paid. We figured we'd likely not return to this establishment, and decided to not say anything. If you are looking for fish tacos in particular, I'd look somewhere else.

I highly recommend Mariscos if you're looking for authentic Mexican food. I ordered the Tampiquena (skirt steak and a cheese enchilada) and it was delicious! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Don't forget to order a fish bowl - you get a lot of drink for your buck.

Just as a note I wanted to add... In September I stayed in the la quinta just down the road and we were told upon check in to show our room key to the great folks over at Marisco's and we would get a free margarita. and this was during happy hour.. and when we were needing to watch our novela (teresa).. how cool is that?

I decided to try this place, because I moved right near it. It's a good neighborhood place for a casual dinner. I would probably go again for the happy hour. The food was good, although not spectacular. I did really love the crazy glass chandeliers. My first margarita was really good, but the second was not made right, so I had them just take it back and remove it from the bill.

This place can be hit or miss, so it gets a four star rating from me. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. It is local and family owned, so I will always try to support it. I have been here several times. My old work loved having small dinner meetings here. The staff has always been very friendly and pretty speedy. Their menu is large. This is usually a good thing, but can also be a sign that there will be some inconsistency. They have a small section labeled healthy options, but ignore it. A 1,200 calorie taco salad in a fried shell is not a healthy option. It is, however, very yummy and will feed you for two days! The meat is seasoned so well. The seafood here is good. It's not the freshest (most fresh?) in town, but it's still yummy. The crab enchiladas are beyond delicious! The fish tacos fall flat- try the shrimp ones instead. Actually, most of their shrimp dishes are winners for me. The diablo shrimp is delicious and actually is a little spicy! Their steak is okay. It has a habit of being a bit dry. It's not the best. The house soup with octopus bounces between being perfect and being a bowl full of broth and rubber bands. Great enchiladas, boring burritos. The nachos are good, but the cheese is processed instead of being freshly grated- I know that sounds picky, I just wish that they would use better cheese on them! All in all, it's a good place. Some of the dishes are excellent, some are below average. The service is good. It's a cute little place and it's always been clean. Stick to seafood, what they do best, and enchiladas. Those will be good. They have fantastic drinks (tons of margarita choices) and drink specials depending on the night. Their food is very fairly prices and you can tell that their heart is in it.

We went here because my partner was craving a Pina Colada and the Yelp Reviews said that this restaurant had the best. This was not the case. The Pina Colada came in a pretty glass, but we couldn't taste or feel the alcohol. Her Enchiladas were the best that she ever had. The house Salsa was a bit too spicy and I like mine more chunky. I ordered the Colorado Burrito. It did not agree with my stomach later on. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. But I would not eat here again.

Just got done eating here on a pretty busy Friday night. The second lot was about half full. Service was prompt and friendly. The house margaritas are GREAT lime flavor really shines through. The carnitas were also really good. Tender pork and great tortillas. Rice and beans had lots of flavor and were quite fresh. I would definitely recommend this place for Mexican food. Also, the guy walking around playing guitar and singing was a great touch.

Wonderful place! Ate there last night just passing thru on a road trip. Stayed at the Quality Inn just behind the restaurant, the manger Bud told us to mention his name and they would give us free margaritas---we did, and they did! :) I ordered the seafood quesadilla--the crab they use is half real and half imitation, but you couldn't even tell! Service was great, food was wonderful! (chillis rellenos & the beans are delicious) Only con, is that BOTH salsas they serve with their chips are rather hot. Would suggest offering a mild version as another option. Otherwise, AWESOME!

I have recommended this place for years. I will continue. The large guacamole is larger than you'd expect for not a large amount of the cash. It needs salt, but that's on the table of course. The carne asada tacos looked awesome. Give them a squeeze of lime and a scoop of the guacamole that you had left from earlier and you've got a winner right there. One of my favorites is the steak ranchero. It's steak tips, bell pepper, jalapeño, and onion all cooked around and made to be delicious. This time they overcooked the steak, but it wasn't tough or maddening at all. This place seems clean. I have no reason to think that they need a Clorox wipe. They are technically a Mexican seafood restaurant. I don't order the seafood, but it looks fresh and delicious. Come on by. You'll be glad you did. Enjoy!

My parents put me in charge of finding places to eat dinner while visiting Albuquerque. I found this little Gem right here in Yelp. The food was excellent; the shrimp and octopus ceviche platter was phenomenal. I also tasted the Mojarra my mum order and was delicious also. Seafood is tricky and it seems it is always hit or miss. this place was definitely a hit. The staff was very attentive also. The only caveat for those that are used to eating cocktails Acapulco style (Ketchup, lime, cilantro, serrano chiles and dash of Maggi or Worcestershire) this is a bit different but good also.

Traveling through here from Orange County, CA which sits right above San Diego I like to consider myself pretty experienced in Mexican food, this place is amazing!! My husband who has the highest standards when it comes to food said these were the best seafood tacos he ever tasted, my fajitas (shrimp and beef) were also amazing! I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food with great service!

I was driving old Route 66 from Chicago to Phoenix when I stumbled upon this place. We'd just driven through a freak snow storm and we're stressed and starving. This place was near our hotel and reminded me of all the kitschy seafood places from my hometown in Florida. There was nautical decor and several fish tanks. They also had a strolling mariachi and huge margaritas. The food was great. I had the whole fish and my husband had the burrito. Pretty good stuff and the price was nice. Our waiter was from Chicago and gave us a free shot of tequila. it was just what I needed to calm my frayed nerves after our trek through the blizzard. I don't know when I'll be in New mexico next, but I'm definitely going back to this place.

We've been here 2 yrs in a row on our way to CA. Food is delicious and very reasonable. Last night we split an appetizer that could have easily served 4 as a meal - $14.50 including tax. It had 4 spicy shrimp, lots of nachos, 4+ tosquitos, 4+ mini chimichangas, and a cheese quisidera, all with lots of guacamole and sour cream. Hated leaving those leftovers.

I've been coming here for years and have to say the food is awesome and the staff is friendly! The Carne Asada tacos are my usual because they always leave me stuffed with big smile on my face!
Great costal Mexican cuisine. The food is pretty authentic with a few slight Americanized variations. The staff is friendly and will gladly make recommendations. Atmosphere is open with a small bar area. Good drink specials.

Cheers!

Great Friday family lunch. The whole staff was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Introduced my Dad to ceviche for the first time here, it quickly became his favorite.

The service was good, food was ok.... Might have been better but we were kinda disgusted when the waitress brought out a new glass of water...

Cheers!

The restaurant itself, is clean, roomy, tastefully decorated and all the staff I came in contact with, hostess and waitresses, were attentive, efficient, and friendly. .

I swear, no matter what I eat here it's the best! Great service too. A must stop if you live in ABQ or if you are passing thru town. Just off I-40 & Coors. Check out 999dine.com for discounts

AFTER RESISTING FOR A LONG TIME. this place actually delivers... and I'm a hard ass on these things. Crab or shrimp enchiladas and tacos are great and they have drink specials. For Abq they are veeery good.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Cheers!

Absolutely the best authentic Mexican food I have ever had, ever! The service & staff is so superb and the margaritas are phenomenal. Literally any entrée you order from here you will not disappoint! If you have a chance to stop by at the Los Lunas location or Albuquerque... You are in for for a real treat! I am a super picky woman, and I have exquisite taste. This is the place to go!

(5)Kyle H.

(5)Patrick F.
Gotta go for the margarita's and fish or shrimp tacos!
(4)Ashley P.

It's always nice to see the owner come to the table food is great and fresh wait people are awesome this is the place to come hang out for happy hour or far family dinner come eat come eat!!

Second choice for the night. Seafood seems to mean shrimp here. Mixed 'seafood' enchiladas (shrimp and crab) just ok. Margarita was way too heavy on the tequila. Wouldn't come back
(2)Jeremy K.
Great costal Mexican cuisine. The food is pretty authentic with a few slight Americanized variations. The staff is friendly and will gladly make recommendations. Atmosphere is open with a small bar area. Good drink specials.
(4)Mike C.
(5)Jeanne B.

(2)Keith F.
What a happy, fun place. The fish or shrimp tacos are excellent.
(5)Esperanza C.
(4)Wade S.
Didn't get what I ordered but what I was served was very good. Ordinarily I would have made an issue of it, but was too hungry to wait any longer. Next time...

I was on my way to Disneyland this past weekend, but I must have made a wrong turn because I somehow ended up in Albuquerque. So I thought, "Since I'm here, I might as well check out a new restaurant." And that's how I found myself at Mariscos Altamar. This seemed like a popular joint in town based on the number of patrons inside and the area we eventually were seated in was a bit cramped. This was proven when my buddy got bopped in the head twice by the guitar-playing guy who was walking through the restaurant. My friends weren't feeling too adventurous with their meals, so they each went w/ the carne asada burrito. I, naturally, looked on Yelp to see what was recommended, and out of four reviews, two recommended the Mojarra Frita. So I ordered the Garlic Mojarra with Mushrooms. The exterior of the fish was nicely fried and crispy, but the fish was too dry. And even with the sautéed mushrooms and garlic, it just lacked flavor overall. As far as the sides were concerned, the rice was decent at best and the fries were undercooked. Even though they have "Mexico" in their state's name, California still reigns supreme in the Mexican food department. But that's just my opinion.
(2)Sue W.
We drive from the east mountains and clear across Alb. to eat here. It's casual, friendly and the food is delicious! Love the ceviche...and reasonably priced
(4)Jenniel B.
(2)Tricia K.
(5)Brian C.
(1)Andrew D.
(4)A C.
(2)Larry V.
(3)Kristen V.

(5)Amy T.
Just as a note I wanted to add... In September I stayed in the la quinta just down the road and we were told upon check in to show our room key to the great folks over at Marisco's and we would get a free margarita. and this was during happy hour.. and when we were needing to watch our novela (teresa).. how cool is that?
(3)Christi C.
Great Friday family lunch. The whole staff was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Introduced my Dad to ceviche for the first time here, it quickly became his favorite.
(5)Casey C.
(3)Sky N.
I've been coming here for years and have to say the food is awesome and the staff is friendly! The Carne Asada tacos are my usual because they always leave me stuffed with big smile on my face!
(5)Kevin W.
Was a bit disappointed. My son's fish dish was the best thing we had. Good happy hour but food is not great.

(4)Chad M.
Great food! My wife ordered the fajitas and I had the mixed crab and shrimp chimichangas. Very delicious and we will have this on our itinerary for the way back through Albuquerque.
(4)Megan M.
Excellent seafood, very reasonably priced and always fresh! Service is great, happy hour is very good (go for the Bloody Mary!), and the ceviche is so amazingly delicious! Absolutely love this place!
(5)Leigh P.
(3)Shaaron W.
Reviews didn't do it justice. This is a wonderful stop, close to I 40. Food Is authentic plus good. Great place.
(5)Silly B.
(5)Kelly A.
I swear, no matter what I eat here it's the best! Great service too. A must stop if you live in ABQ or if you are passing thru town. Just off I-40 & Coors. Check out 999dine.com for discounts
(5)Matt A.
AFTER RESISTING FOR A LONG TIME. this place actually delivers... and I'm a hard ass on these things. Crab or shrimp enchiladas and tacos are great and they have drink specials. For Abq they are veeery good.
(4)Janice R.
Very very good authentic Mexican food. Excellent service. Had dinner here just passing through on my way to Tucson and was blown away! Highly recommend!!!
(5)Mak B.

(5)Kelly B.
Had been eating on the road for a few days and this was a pleasant surprise, I got he seafood chimichanga and it was awesome my partner had a combo plate and loved it. People working there were most friendly. wish we had this restaurant where we live!
(5)Brynna R.
(5)Angela R.
This is one of my fav for true Mexican food. I love the fundito ,chips salsa, steaks, enchilada and everything else. Love love love it. I like the guy who sings too . Makes me feel like I'm on vacation.

(5)Ruth T.

(5)Jody R.

We drive from the east mountains and clear across Alb. to eat here. It's casual, friendly and the food is delicious! Love the ceviche...and reasonably priced
(4)Mike C.
(5)Jeanne B.
(4)Wade S.
Didn't get what I ordered but what I was served was very good. Ordinarily I would have made an issue of it, but was too hungry to wait any longer. Next time...

(2)John D.
(4)Mark R.
Great food, excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices with very good happy hour specials. There's really nothing more to say. I'll stop in again next time I'm traveling through Albuquerque
(5)Debby A.
Great food, good Happy Hour. We will be back. Yum
(4)Esperanza C.
(4)Ashley P.
(4)Junior B.
It's always nice to see the owner come to the table food is great and fresh wait people are awesome this is the place to come hang out for happy hour or far family dinner come eat come eat!!
(5)John N.
Second choice for the night. Seafood seems to mean shrimp here. Mixed 'seafood' enchiladas (shrimp and crab) just ok. Margarita was way too heavy on the tequila. Wouldn't come back
(2)Sky N.
I've been coming here for years and have to say the food is awesome and the staff is friendly! The Carne Asada tacos are my usual because they always leave me stuffed with big smile on my face!

(5)Jeremy K.
Great costal Mexican cuisine. The food is pretty authentic with a few slight Americanized variations. The staff is friendly and will gladly make recommendations. Atmosphere is open with a small bar area. Good drink specials.
(4)Keith F.
What a happy, fun place. The fish or shrimp tacos are excellent.
(5)Ernesto R.
Cheers!
(2)Andrew D.
(4)A C.
(2)Larry V.
(3)Jenniel B.

(5)Gene B.
It is one of my regular places to eat. Not only is the atmosphere fun, especially the live music, but the food is excellent. The owners are extremely friendly, the staff is great. Would recommend it to anyone for both Mexican food and seafood.
(5)Casey C.

(4)Chad M.
Great food! My wife ordered the fajitas and I had the mixed crab and shrimp chimichangas. Very delicious and we will have this on our itinerary for the way back through Albuquerque.
(4)Brynna R.
(5)Philip C.
Enjoy!
(4)Kevin W.
Was a bit disappointed. My son's fish dish was the best thing we had. Good happy hour but food is not great.
(3)Megan M.
Excellent seafood, very reasonably priced and always fresh! Service is great, happy hour is very good (go for the Bloody Mary!), and the ceviche is so amazingly delicious! Absolutely love this place!
(5)Leigh P.
(3)Becca M.
(5)Kelly B.
Had been eating on the road for a few days and this was a pleasant surprise, I got he seafood chimichanga and it was awesome my partner had a combo plate and loved it. People working there were most friendly. wish we had this restaurant where we live!
(5)Shaaron W.
Reviews didn't do it justice. This is a wonderful stop, close to I 40. Food Is authentic plus good. Great place.
(5)Silly B.
(5)Ken K.
(4)Mike C.
(5)Jeanne B.
(4)Wade S.
Didn't get what I ordered but what I was served was very good. Ordinarily I would have made an issue of it, but was too hungry to wait any longer. Next time...
(4)Sarah R.
(2)Griselda F.
(5)Donna C.
(5)Sarah N.
Great Mexican seafood plus an awesome happy hour, it's a must try
(4)Kevin V.
Awesome restaurant serving authentic food. Staff incredibly pleasant to deal with. Every time I am through Albuquerque I stop and have something to eat and drink.

(4)Angela R.
This is one of my fav for true Mexican food. I love the fundito ,chips salsa, steaks, enchilada and everything else. Love love love it. I like the guy who sings too . Makes me feel like I'm on vacation.

(5)Sunny R.
(4)Kimmy V.
(4)Sandra M.
I like that this is a Mexican (not New Mexican) restaurant. Best chile rellanos in town. Lots of seafood choices but we go for the traditional dishes. The chicken and shredded beef are good.
(4)Dan N.
(5)Adrian S.
(5)Kyle H.
(4)Kristi g.
Good food, good service, good drinks, cheesy decor. I'm visiting, definitely seemed like a local place, which I appreciate!
(4)Silver S.
(4)Pamela J.
(4)Jeffrey E.
(5)Patrick F.
Gotta go for the margarita's and fish or shrimp tacos!
(4)Kelly A.
(5)Mak B.
(4)Ruth T.
(5)Niki L.
(5)Kristen V.

Great food, good Happy Hour. We will be back. Yum

(5)Ali B.

(4)Mark R.
Great food, excellent service, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices with very good happy hour specials. There's really nothing more to say. I'll stop in again next time I'm traveling through Albuquerque
(5)Esperanza C.
(4)Ashley P.
Wouldn't come back
(2)Jeremy K.
Great costal Mexican cuisine. The food is pretty authentic with a few slight Americanized variations. The staff is friendly and will gladly make recommendations. Atmosphere is open with a small bar area. Good drink specials.
(4)Keith F.
What a happy, fun place. The fish or shrimp tacos are excellent.
(5)Sky N.
I've been coming here for years and have to say the food is awesome and the staff is friendly! The Carne Asada tacos are my usual because they always leave me stuffed with big smile on my face!

Cheers!

Good food, good service, good drinks, cheesy decor. I'm visiting, definitely seemed like a local place, which I appreciate!

Gotta go for the margarita's and fish or shrimp tacos!

The service was good, food was ok.... Might have been better but we were kinda disgusted when the waitress brought out a new glass of water... The glass was full of lipstick marks from previous person to drink out of it. Guess I should rephrase my first sentence. Service was friendly but not very observant.

Just as a note I wanted to add... In September I stayed in the la quinta just down the road and we were told upon check in to show our room key to the great folks over at Marisco's and we would get a free margarita. and this was during happy hour.. and when we were needing to watch our novela (teresa).. how cool is that?

Great Friday family lunch. The whole staff was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Introduced my Dad to ceviche for the first time here, it quickly became his favorite.

Awesome restaurant serving authentic food. Staff incredibly pleasant to deal with. Every time I am through Albuquerque I stop and have something to eat and drink.

Very very good authentic Mexican food. Excellent service. Had dinner here just passing through on my way to Tucson and was blown away! Highly recommend!!!
